I finished wild arms yesterday! what a great game
#wild arms#wild arms 1#cecilia adlehyde#jack van burace#rudy roughnight#earth golem#art tag#i really really loved this one im so glad i finished it#its really fun and not overly long for a jrpg (about 30 hours)#also gets my seal of approval in that despite what all promotional material would have you believe cecilia is the main character#like its not even a question she just is. compounded by the fact that if you want to you can play as her the whole time#my biggest criticism would prob be that by the end of the game the party feels kind of unbalanced especially in boss fights#cecilia can do so much shit and the boys basically just do different kinds of big damage lol#cecilia can also do big damage but shes too busy healing and buffing and debuffing and all that#its not all that hard though so its not a huge deal just kind of funny#anyway i definitely want to play the rest of the series at some point. apparently theres an anime too?? exciting

i think. and this is all im gonna say on the matter. is that some of the backlash and negativity im seeing really just stems from dsmp being so many people's first fandom. something ending doesn't mean you have to leave. something ending BADLY doesn't mean you have to leave. you're entitled to feeling disappointed or unsatisfied, and you're entitled to leaving, but it's not like the world stops if your favorite media has a bad ending. things will blossom. things will be okay. many fandom spaces thrive best when their media is concluded, because then they have the free space and ability to do anything they want without worrying about canon dissonance. the supernatural fandom has been thriving for two years now. the danny phantom fandom has been thriving for fifteen. it feels horrible at first. but if it's something that meant a lot to you, that you've found a community in, leaving isn't the only choice. you're okay to stay, no matter the ending <3

i saw a post saying boom was good bc it feels like it could be done with any doctor/companion duo and honestly that was one of the things i felt was wrong with it
#in a show with a title character that could be Literally Anyone and a companion sharing the lead that could be Literally Anyone#i value the little moments that set this duo apart from the rest. ESPECIALLY when it comes to returning writers like rtd/moff#fifteen and ruby felt a little too eleven/twelve and clara adjacent in boom. in both their dialogue and characterization#space babies also landed a little weird at first bc it lifted a bit from end of the world BUT the scenes that fifteen and ruby#had to themselves. like ruby getting covered in snot and fifteen laughing. or fifteen and ruby looking after the Space Babies#or fifteen going out of his way to save the monster bc that monster is the only one of its kind Just Like Him Fr#that stuff is so good and its also something we haven't seen from another nuwho doctor. the vulnerable bleeding-heart empathy#and a dynamic w a companion that is basically 'two troublemakers that just deeply love fun and adventure and getting into trouble together'#oh yeah and also the devil's chord was peak fiction because it touches on fifteen's renewed connection and love for humanity#and marries it to ruby being a musician and how music like any art is the expression of the human soul etc etc#WHAT MAKES A DOCTOR WHO STORY GOOD TO ME IS PARTLY HOW THE PREMISE TIES INTO THE DOCTOR AND COMPANION'S CHARACTERS#IT HAS TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS TAILOR MADE TO THEM. ELSE IT WONT LAND RIGHT TO ME#i hate the take that they should've saved wild blue yonder for a fifteen episode bc#the tension is hinged on how well the doctor/companion know each other. u have a level of it that u can ONLY get#with fourteen and donna who are two halves of a whole soul but have also spent much more time missing the other than knowing them#im not rewatching fifteen's eps rn until a week later when i can watch it w my qpp but#rn i still feel a stronger sense of fifteen and ruby's characters from all the rtd-written eps rather moffat#which like. i get that a lot of that is my personal dislike of moffat's writing style but still#dr who#15 era#dw spoilers

#I just love making buck wild aus….. my catnip#anyways time for the choppy lore dump#anyways the basis of this au is Trent is a mercenary that is hired by the Richmond fort to assess its garrison#only for him to be fucking flabbergasted by the head knight who seems to have little fighting experience at all#trent himself is like good at ending a fight very quickly#He’s quick and precise with a rapier … but the longer a duel goes on the less likely it is he will win it#he doesn’t want to be a mercenary… he wants to to be able to have a quiet life with his daughter and write about the world#anyhoo Ted has healing magic in this… problem is all people with the ability to cast magic are supposed to be known and registered#ted is hiding his abilities :) no one knows but Rebecca and beard who would protect that secret with their lives#alright this lore dump has gone on for too long…there is so much more and it eats my brain#blood tw#trent crimm#my art#I’ll put this in the TL tag in like a day or something I don’t feel like tagging it right now#this is for me and my own fun
