The thing I’m most anticipating is the moment that everything clicks for Mike. That precise second where he realises just how deeply and irrevocably in love with him Will is. Will. His first friend. His best friend. Will who made him that amazing painting (his words!) and told Mike how important he is, how inspiring he finds him. The person he trusts more than anyone, the person he’s the most emotionally open with in the whole world. The weight of that realisation is going to be insane, like imagine being in his position. It’s the kind of turning point in a friendship you just can’t come back from. How do you be normal after that? How do you speak to him in the same close intimate way you did before without looking into his eyes and thinking….what if?

They were but they weren’t is the thing with X and G.

But they totally were because everybody and their dog knew that they were and thought of them that way.

But they weren’t because at no point in the show do they explicitly confirm them to be. It’s not in the text.

But the emotional backbone behind the entire show only works if they were. Just friends wouldn’t be this intense. Wouldn’t be this dedicated to each other.

Nah, you only ever go this hard for a lover. For someone you are 100% irrevocably and unequivocally in love with. It would be like Stockholm syndrome otherwise. It would be like some form of brainwashing. Loyalty and devotion doesn’t go that far, right? Right?

I just can’t wrap my head around their relationship if I do not think of it as best friends evolving into lovers. Their relationship just goes too damn hard for my logical brain to accept anything other than lovers.

I don’t know what anyone else sees but it’s what I see.

you know what i love about young royals?? that in s1 simon can refuse wille bc he doesn’t want to be kept a secret and in s2 simon can want to be with wille in spite of the fact they have to keep it a secret, and both times you can root for him. neither one of them were the right or wrong decision to make, they were just simon’s decisions and you can support him in them. you see in s1 that he hates having to be hidden, being made to feel bad and ashamed of himself and so he makes that decision. you see in s2 that he tries to forget and move on and that it doesn’t work, he doesn’t feel better and so he makes that decision. he is not giving in, he’s not doing himself a disservice, he’s not weak. he is trying to find happiness, which is strong of him when he knows it comes with some compromise. but the thing is he knows the alternative, and knows that trying to live pretending he feels nothing is possibly harder than living as a secret. picking the better of two evils is not a loss, it’s the only way you can win.

I low-key love the fact that sci-fi has so conditioned us to expect to be hanging out with a bunch of cool space aliens, that legitimate, actual scientists keep proposing the most bizarre, three-blunts-into-the-rotation "theories" to explain the fact we're not.

Some of my favourites include:

Zoo Theory: What if there are loads of aliens out there, but they're not talking to us because of the Prime Directive from Star Trek? (Or because they're doing experiments on us???)

Dark Forest Theory: What if there are loads of aliens out there, but they all hate us and each other so they're all just waiting with a shotgun pointed at the door, ready to open fire on anything that moves?

Planetarium Theory: What if there's at least one alien with mastery over light and matter that's just making it seem to us that the universe is empty to us as, like, a joke?

Berserker Theory: What if there were loads of aliens, but one of them made infinite killer robots that murdered everyone and are coming for us next?!!

Like, the universe is at least 13,700,000,000 years old and 46,000,000,000 light years big. We have had the ability to transmit and receive signals for, what, 100 years, and our signals have so far travelled 200 light years?

The fact is biological life almost certainly has, does, or will develop elsewhere in the universe, and it's not impossible that a tiny amount of it has, does, or will develop in a way that we would understand as "intelligent". But, like, we're realistically never going to know because of the scale of the things involved.

So I'm proposing my own hypothesis. I call it the "Fool in a Field" hypothesis. It goes like this:

Humanity is a guy standing in the middle of a field at midnight. It's pitch black, he can't move, and he's been standing there for ages. He's just had the thought to swing his arms. He swings one of his arms, once, and does not hit another person. "Oh no!" He says. "Robots have killed them all!"
