#it doesn't feel appropriate to say 'us' yet but it's also just... hard not to sometimes you know?

Honestly? So much of Sonic Prime happens the way it does because Sonic is unabashedly, wholeheartedly neurodivergent, and I wanna talk about that in detail for several reasons
I think most people assume he has ADHD, and while I agree, I think they tend to leave it at "he's hyperactive and impulsive" when there's actually a lot more going on there.
For example, he lacks a filter. He says exactly what he's thinking, all the time, regardless of who's listening. I wouldn't be surprised if he does it as a type of vocal stim, considering that he talks to himself as much as he does to other people. Maybe he dislikes the way silence feels on his ears, too?
Something I noticed was that when Thorn gets on his case for this, asking if he ever stops talking, the way he says "eh, not really" sounds... almost resigned?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He could have easily said it in a more jokey way, but his tone (and the wide camera shot) gives me the impression that this isn't a trait of his that he feels especially positive about.
It's not cool or funny to him, at least not in this instance; it's just something he does, which further proves to me that it's more of an unconscious stim than anything else.
On the topic of the jungle world though, it also shows us a couple instances of him not being able to read others' intentions very well. Prim lies to him about knowing what the Prism shard is, and Thorn uses him to get to said shard - and despite how hostile they are, he takes both of them at their word.
He only realizes Thorn's intentions after she hits him across the clearing - not for the first time that day, mind you - and Sonic berates himself a little for not seeing this coming.
But it's not like this is the only time he has difficulty understanding intent; just look at his interactions with Shadow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not the behavior of someone who understands why Shadow's picking a fight with him. He doesn't understand the implications of "you literally shook the world" because he doesn't know about the Weirder aspects of the explosion. In his mind, he just messed up a mountain.
Though I think his attitude implies another thing about his dynamic with Shadow that might explain why he was so quick to dismiss what he was talking about, which is. I don't think Sonic usually understands why they fight??
Shadow is a person of few words and Sonic has a hard time picking up on subtleties, that's a recipe for miscommunication already. And if Sonic's already predisposed to thinking that Shadow fights him Just Because, then of course he didn't take this particular instance seriously.
Though going back to "he only registered the physical effect of the explosion," Sonic is actually pretty consistent with understanding things that are tangible a lot better than anything else. Case in point: that One Palm Tree
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His first reaction to seeing it presented as a gift is that it must be a trick. because he doesn't see the tangible point of the tree, and isn't enough of a symbolism guy to see the sentimental point of it, either.
Don't get me wrong, he is being insensitive here, but I don't think it's on purpose in any way. Look at his body language and expressions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even as he's getting on their case for being too sentimental, he's not unhappy or uncomfortable with them. He's just completely failing to recognize that this was supposed to be a big deal for them, so he's treating it way more casually than is appropriate.
Which is like. a classic social flub for neurodivergent folks
(Quick side note - this specific "huh" that he makes as Tails is flying away before Sonic realizes he's upset is a whole mood. I don't know how to explain it but this is Exactly what it feels like when you can sorta tell something's not clicking but you don't know what yet)
Tumblr media
(Look at him. brain static)
I could go on with the detailed explanations but some of that would just be me repeating past posts I've made, so I'll leave it at "he is clearly not handling change well either" and link back to an example.
So anyway, this is what I meant when I said that so much of the show is impacted by Sonic being neurodivergent. It affects how we hear his thoughts as viewers, it affects his ability to understand and connect with his friends, it's why he dismisses Shadow, it's why he impulsively smashes the Paradox Prism, the list goes on.
And he's not stupid because of any of these traits, either. None of what I've described has to do with intelligence, but I've seen "Sonic is too dumb" as a reason to criticize the show, and that's just not what's happening here.
If anything, I'm actually really impressed with how well the writers have managed to portray a more nuanced take on what a character with ADHD would look like. Because he's not just being hyperactive and chatty, you can tell it affects how he perceives things too.
Which is a much bigger part of the overall experience, and it's really cool to see in a cartoon like this - and in the lovable main character, to boot! Who cherishes his friends despite his struggles to understand them! Why is it so good!
In conclusion Sonic is the ADHD king we both needed and deserved, thanks for coming to my TED talk

Warning: none, just a little angsty
Bungo Stray Dogs, Dazai Osamu X Reader
Tumblr media
Breakfast
You are not made to be there.
Dazai looks at you while you sleep on his miserable futon lying limply on the floor.
Doesn't seem like a good place for you, in his eyes. You look out of place in the clutter of his booze bottles and convenience food boxes still littered with the remains of dinners that aren't real dinners.
You didn't have to go to him, he told you. He told you that it was really not appropriate to discuss work so late at night, especially when he would avoid doing it even during the day.
It was a pretext, of course: both from him and from you.
Dazai knows very well that it is the concern for wounds that are already healing that push you to his door, and for his part it is the fear of being discovered that prevents him from enjoying your closeness.
Sometimes he wishes he had never met you, because you make everything more difficult, you make those gnawing feelings that devour him from inside wrong. The fact that you make life easier makes his existence complicated.
You are someone that he is accountable to, that he unfortunately wants to be accountable to, and it makes him realize that there are also other people he is terribly fond of.
It's terrifying, because now it's hard to leave when someone you love asks you to stay.
He wishes he'd never met you, but now he's afraid of losing you, or making you lose him. And leaning his head next to yours he looks at your face like he hopes you never see, because his eyes are brighter than normal, and sweet, and painful.
You look so out of place next to a black hole like him.
But the empty place you leave doesn't seem to put things right.
“So it must be…” he says to himself as he wearily sits up in the morning light. Maybe you left while he was sleeping, or maybe he just dreamed about you.
But there is someone in the next room. In the hole that he methodically calls home it’s difficult to hide the presences.
Dazai reluctantly feels a kind of relief now that he watches you from the doorway as you use his disused kitchen without permission.
When you look at him over your shoulder you smile, even if your words seem more like a playful rebuke: “No one ever taught you how to shop, did they?”
His lips automatically curl up happily, but his mind is still verbalizing that you're really there.
“Do you want to give me some repetitions?” He moves closer to you, his fingers sliding through his messy curls as his free hand smoothes his wrinkled shirt. A small yawn escapes him as he looks at the breakfast you're preparing. You must have gone out early in the morning to buy all that food.
“Well, watch and learn!” You hum, opening the fridge just to show him how a normal person would fill it.
“I don't think I'll be able to emulate you, you know?”
Now he's beside you, your elbow brushing his as you cut and cook.
“You don't look too disturbed that you slept on my futon, huh?”
That question is as playful and teasing as his wink, but something screeches at the back of Dazai's throat.
“If you woke me up, I'd leave.” You answer him without bothering to look at him.
“And with what courage would I have done it?” Even if he laughs at the bottom of his heart he is sincere.
Because despite everything he doesn't have the courage to push you away. He never has the courage to accept that one day you could say goodbye, and with this comes the hope that he is afraid of losing, that of being able to erase that day with his own hands.
Because you should be out of place there, in a shabby kitchen where only he occasionally sets foot.
“Will you sit at the table?”
It should seem like a wrong scene, the two of you serving at the table, sitting down, watching each other while you eat and chatting about this or that.
“Mmmmh! I think it's been a lifetime since I've had a home cooked meal like this! Now that I think about it, have I ever eaten it?”
Your laughter within those walls should sound strange. You shouldn't be there, yet Dazai smiles at you, because having you there seems a bit as if life could be normal, without necessarily having to erase the past.
“Do you like it?”
“Mh-mh!”
You laugh at him that stares at you with cheeks swollen with food, and he likes it when you laugh at him. Is this the family atmosphere that people romantically talk about?
It's not bad in the end. And the problem is that even if he keeps telling himself that you're not where you should be when you're surrounded by him, that's where he wants to keep you, where strangely a glimmer of future opens up on his horizon.

I think it’s really interesting how c!Tommy being an annoying little shit masks how much of a people pleaser he is when it’s also a massive part of how he tries to appeal to those around him like. He's gotten positive attention from being an obnoxious dick! People go along with what he does and help him pull dumb pranks. It’s just when he crosses the line people get mad at him, and c!Tommy's an incredibly reckless teenager- he crosses that line a lot because he hasn’t learnt it yet, he’s still pushing boundaries (which is completely developmentally appropriate for a sixteen year old, it’s Healthy and Good because it’s a part of learning how to respect them) but as far as he’s been Shown people find it funny when he’s annoying until it isn’t anymore. c!Tommy wants people to like him he wants to be helpful and funny and he thinks that being a little shit is making people laugh (because like it does) so he keeps doing it.
Like, c!Tommy is a very self conscious character in a lot of ways, it’s just hard to tell because he projects this image of cockiness. But he’s not- he has chronically low self esteem to the point he needed the discs to feel worthy of being alive even at the beginning of the server. And one of those ways he’s self conscious is that he places an unhealthy amount of value in his ability to be helpful and please others. Like, this isn’t to say he’s never a prick intentionally- he is a lot of the time, that’s Also developmentally appropriate and a Healthy and Good thing that teenagers learning social skills do. But the reason he’s “annoying at first” is because he knows about the “at first” bit. It endears him to people, at least some of them, and while he’s very emotionally intelligent and perceptive, he’s still a teenager and goes too far with it a lot.
c!Tommy is strong-willed, but that isn’t because of self confidence- it’s sheer stubborn defiance. Which is a strength in some ways- confidence can be eroded, but you can’t take away that fundamental personality trait so easily. c!Tommy is a character that shifts a lot, trying to appeal to those around him- especially those who frighten him, he has a very strong fawn instinct, as Exile shows- but he’s also a character that's got a strong and consistent personality, due to this stubbornness. He refuses to change who he fundamentally is, even if he tries to use it to seem charming and desperately try and prevent people from leaving, because he’s terrified of being alone more than anything else. His stubbornness just overpowers his fear in all but the most extreme circumstances.
Idk where I’m going with this I just think c!Tommy's a very interesting and deep character who manages to do the “totally different to how he appears on the surface” thing so well because his facade and his true self are so consistent and come from very prominent character traits even if they differ a lot. c!Tommy the Big Man and c!Tommy the insecure people pleaser feel congruent, in a way that Oh c!Dream Was Secretly A Sad Boy doesn't (and I’m saying that as someone who writes an incredibly pathetic wet cat c!Dream)

Finally got done watching the new Quinton Reviews video and have some thoughts. If you're not familiar with the video in question just know that I will be talking about child abuse so be prepared.
Something he did a really good job navigating is talking about behavior that was clearly abusive, but that doesn't neatly fall into the main categories of abuse we use, those being Physical, Emotional, and Sexual.
People really don't know how to handle things that clearly weren't okay but that don't fall neatly into those categories. I've even struggled with trying to understand my own experiences, which I'm going to use as an example. One of the things I experienced growing up was one of my parents asking me for massages and not being allowed to say no. Physical contact like that leads people towards wanting to categorize it as sexual abuse, but it wasn't sexual. And so people, with hesitation, refer to it as physical abuse. But our general cultural conception of physical abuse is physical violence, so I've never felt comfortable calling it physical abuse because I don't want it to come off as though I'm claiming I experienced something that I didn't. So I've generally had to go with explaining the specifics, and I hate that because I don't want to have to get into the specifics with everyone who I needs to understand what I've been through.
And I think that same line of thinking is why people to try and accuse Dan Schneider of child sex abuse even though (from my understanding) there is no evidence for that. They understand his behavior to be bad, and want to call it out, but our current understanding of abuse and abusive behavior doesn't really have a way of categorizing "inappropriate physical contact with a child that is not sexual". If it was child sex abuse that is a clear cut bad thing that culturally we already understand as a bad thing and have ways of talking about. So people lean towards trying to categorize it as child sex abuse even though the things we know about don't really fall into that category, because otherwise we don't really have a way to talk about it and understand it.
So I guess part of what I want to say here is thank you to Quinton Reviews for giving us the phrase "inappropriate boundaries" to refer to these types of things. Because I think we have words to describe certain types of inappropriate boundaries (sexual abuse for if it's sexual, parentification if it's about treating the kid like a fellow parent, etc.) but I've never really seen a term describing the overarching idea of just "adult behaving inappropriately with a child".
For me personally it gives me a better way of understanding and describing my own experiences. It's taken me from "there were a lot of different upsetting yet hard to describe things that happened that I don't know how to categorize or really explain" to "along with the neglect and the emotional abuse my parents did not maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries which messed me up in the long run". Clearly and succinctly describes what happened without getting into detail or forcing me to provide personal information.
And I think culturally having a way to talk about this type of abuse is useful. I'm hoping that enough people see the video that I can start talking about my experiences and be understood by others.
Also just like. Not being sexual abuse doesn't mean that it's not bad or messed up or worthy of attention and discussion and support. I feel like sometimes people think you're trying to downplay what happened but like. I say that being forced to provide massages was not sexual because I know for a fact it wasn't sexual. That doesn't mean that my being forced to provide an adult with physical contact was okay, it doesn't mean it didn't mess me up, it just means it messed me up differently than how it probably would have if it was sexual.

I Love You Like That
Rating: Not Rated Category: F/F Fandom: Biohazard | Resident Evil (Gameverse) Relationships: Mother Miranda/Reader Characters: Mother Miranda, Alcina Dimitresu, Bela Dimitrescu, Cassandra Dimitrescu, Daniela Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, Angie, Eva
Miranda's dishes remain delicious as always, making you set aside the exorbitant prices demanded by the merchant who calls himself the Duke. Unlike other villagers, he doesn't fear Miranda's presence; he only cares about whether he's making enough lei. When he sees you beside Miranda, there seems to be something meaningful in his money-grubbing smile. You swear he continued to watch you both with amusement as you left.
This village is truly peculiar.
After lunch, Miranda quickly locks herself up in the laboratory. You have noticed this a long time ago. When she first joined The Connections, every time she finished lunch, she was always the first to return to the laboratory. You simply thought she was passionate about the research. But this time, her pace as she walks into the laboratory is not as steady as before. There is a hint of unease mixed in, as if she is running away from something. Is that you make her feel uncomfortable?
Miranda hides in her laboratory. Her frequent interactions with you have left her enthralled. As she sits at the dining table, once again gazing at you, the icy woman within her suddenly awakens, telling her to stay away from you. Her feelings for you would only interfere with her achieving her goal. She should rule over this village with authority, not allowing outsiders in or villagers out, just like her inner self. Many things that have happened recently are unfamiliar to her, yet they bring back the Miranda from over a hundred years ago, a time when she was mortal yet content. She knows that without Eva, she will never truly experience complete happiness, but when you speak to her softly, when you gaze at her eagerly, when you touch her gently, even the coldest ice can melt. This sensation unsettles the Mother Miranda, prompting her to avoid you. She doesn't allow it, she prohibits it.
You walk quietly down the road, contemplating your relationship with Miranda. Despite her refusal, she still considers you her friend. Well, friend is an appropriate term, isn't it?
Although you can't shake off the feeling that your presence is something strange for this village, you're not confined by that feeling and decide to interact with the villagers, maybe they'll get used to your presence. You simply hope so. But things run counter to your wish, as you pass by the houses, you are like a repulsive magnetic pole, the villagers within a few meters stiffen their movements, which is hard to ignore.
It's like an invisible hand pressing the mute button. Until someone breaks the silence.
As you pass by the statue in the center of the village, a girl peeks out from between the iron gates and gently calls out to you. "Miss, are you from the outside?" she asks in a hushed voice.
"Yes?" you nod.
"How are you still able to be out on the streets?" the girl asks anxiously.
"Sorry, what?" you ask, bewildered.
"Mother Miranda should have sacrificed you, if the rumors I heard are true. And I saw her buying a lot of things from the Duke, preparing for it." Her voice lowers even more.
"Mother Miranda? You mean my Miranda, no, I mean my colleague Miranda?" You blurt out something embarrassing.
The girl doesn't realize your little mistake, she glances outside quickly, making sure there's no one else, then pulls you inside. "Some say it's not auspicious for Mother Miranda to bring outsiders into the village, someone must've offended the Black God here. You must be a sacrifice to it." The girl says nervously.
Your brain is filled with confusion. "Wait, I don't understand. First, you also call Miranda 'Mother'? As they address it in the cloister? Second, who's this 'Black God' and why am I a sacrifice? I was brought here just for vacation," you feel like you're in some kind of cult story and decide to make a joke, and you emphasize the word "brought".
"You don't know? She's our priestess, she preaches to us, blesses our lives," the girl looks at you incredulously.
"Am I dreaming, or am I having some hallucination? If I remember correctly, Miranda is a scientist, who came to my organization for research." The girl's expression is extremely serious, no hint of joking, and you start to feel uncertain about what to say next, "She did bring me here in some unusual way. But what you're talking about, being a priestess or something, she never told me about it."
"Everything that was offered as a sacrifice never appeared again after entering the fields, but you come out of there unharmed," the girl's face holds a bit of hope. But hope for what? "I heard there are traces of lycans at the village border, it's her defense for the village, but it's also trapped us inside... If you can walk around freely, maybe we can..."
The gate behind you creaks open, and an old man with a shotgun slung over his shoulder steps in. "Elena! What are you doing?" then he looks at you, angry and sort of scared, "The outsider? Did you bring her into our yard? What if anyone else or Mother Miranda sees what you’ve done..."
"But father, she might be the hope we..." Elena is immediately cut off by her father's stern voice, "Go back to your room." Elena looks at you, her lips trembling, then turns and runs into the house. Her father stares at you, his hand gripping the shotgun strap tighter, poised as if to raise the barrel any second, "Outsider, you're not welcome here. Leave."
"I... I'll leave right away, just calm down." You almost make a gesture of surrender and leave their yard, closing the gate behind you.
It's not normal if you don't feel a wave of anger. You did nothing wrong. You shouldn't be treated like this. Miranda clearly still hides a lot from you. What did that girl Elena mean by her words?
"What did she tell you?" Miranda looks out the window. She has her back to you, hands gripping the window sill.
You recount Elena's words to her in detail. The air around Miranda suddenly chills, and you don't know why she looks taller. Instead of defending herself, she asks you, "Do you believe those nonsensical words?"
Do you?
"Do you believe I brought you here as a sacrifice to the Black God?" she questions again.
"She said they've always been isolated, and from what I saw, it seems to be true. Perhaps that's the only explanation for why this village seems so peculiar." Did you respond directly?
Her knuckles turn white. "I haven't told you the truth. Originally I have a better way to tell you this, but it seems impossible now."
"Better than your fluctuating attitude. Listen, Miranda, I don't know why you were still willing to bring me to your hometown, and tell me about Eva after rejecting me, maybe because we seem to be good colleagues and friends. " When you mention "friends", Miranda's body seems to shrink abruptly. You walk towards her, hand attempting to touch her shoulder.
"You know, I've been preventing some irreversible things from happening all along." She thinks about how you have unwittingly stepped into her shattered, insane life and found yourself sinking deeper into this bottomless quagmire.
"I don't care who you are, I just hope you'll reveal your true self to me."
"As you wish." You see the fabric behind her cardigan tear, and black feathers protrude from the cracks, covering her beige cloth in an instant.
"Miranda..." Your hand freeze in mid-air. "This is the truth." Miranda's voice carries a steel-like coldness. " Yes, I am the priestess of this village, I am their Mother Miranda."
"The portraits I saw in some places, the goddess with black wings..." Images of the the details you once skimmed over in the village flash in your mind. That is Miranda...
Her figure almost blends into the dark night outside, only the faint lights in the room outline her, letting you know she is still there. But her words want to push you far away, "I’ve controlled the village for a long time. Those who resisted me were dealt with by myself. They were all nothing but my lab subjects, only useful for sacrificing themselves for my Eva." You can hear her gritting her teeth. "You’ve seen Moreau and Heisenberg, they were all subjects I once wanted to use as vessels for my Eva, along with Dimitrescu and Beneviento. I bestowed various abilities upon them, making them my assistants, and appointed them as the Four Lords to help me manage this village. And I joined The Connections just to find a way to resurrect my daughter. I don't expect ANYTHING unnecessary to happen." Her voice intentionally becomes cruel, coming from behind the dark feathers.
"So, you're saying I'm a burden to you." Your voice decreases, but you don't think it is due to the revelation that this woman is kind of the ruler of this place.
"You ARE my burden!" Miranda sounds fierce, her words are like sharp spikes, ready to shoot from the jet black feather clothes at any moment. "And I'm going to deal with it."
Her harsh words are her thorny shield, a way to protect her love for Eva, her only love. No one can understand her feeling of spending a lifetime trying to retrieve her daughter. She needs to block out her other feelings. She has to become ruthless to control the villagers, she must eliminate other thoughts in order to focus solely on her research. She rarely leaves the village, maintaining her sacred image within this small rural settlement. In her interactions with the outside world, with you, she remains to be high and mighty, making things difficult for you at every turn. In her inner world, there are only she and Eva, and everyone else is a blur. Once she thought you were just one of them. After enduring various forms of intolerable behaviors from her, you still chose to stay in the laboratory, assisting her in research. Miranda won't admit that she enjoys seeing you meticulously conducting experiments, she won't admit that she enjoys your company.
She suddenly turns towards you, her ten wings as black as the night, obscuring everything.
You don't know where you wake up, but it's not Miranda's warm bed. The only thing you can tell from the exquisite wine rack nearby is that it's a wine cellar.
Someone opens the door, and the light that streams in makes you squint. The person's footsteps are silent, as if gliding in. A woman's voice rings out, "Our guest is awake."
"Let me see her!" Another woman enters. As you adjust to the light, you open your eyes to find two women in gothic dresses and hooded cloaks standing before you.
"Who are you? What is this place? And where is Miranda?" You panic.
"Don't be nervous, we won't harm you, I suppose," the woman with dark hair says in a playful tone.
"Cass, isn't this the woman Uncle Karl mentioned, the one who makes Miranda unsettling?" The other woman with red hair seems excited.
"Really? I thought Mother Miranda had maintained her calm priestess demeanor for decades. How do you manage that?" Cass, the dark-haired woman, asks you curiously.
You have no idea what kind of situation you've gotten yourself into. A while ago, you were working in the lab, and now you're trapped in a strange wine cellar, surrounded by two women dressed more archaically than the villagers. What's even more confusing is about her—Miranda. You never doubted her true identity, not even questioning how she brought you to the village. Have you been too deeply immersed in her rejection, lost in her ambivalent behavior? Now everything that's happening requires you to understand and digest. You don't believe she really kidnapped you and offered you to some 'Black God'. You are convinced of Miranda's unusual identity. Oh, how you wish this was an illusion. But deep down, you hope some of her behaviors are real.
"So Miranda dumped me here and left you two to watch over me?" You can only accept the reality temporarily.
"In fact, it's not like that," the redhead says. "Mother said she was entertaining Donna and Angie when suddenly there was a knock on the door. Mother Miranda was standing there, not as calm and collected as when she usually comes for discussions but rather agitated. And she had someone unconscious with her, who seems to be you."
"She never used to bring the heretics herself, you're probably the first one she brought here in her arms," the dark-haired woman chuckles. "And you don’t look like a heretic."
"She didn't even give Mother any instructions. She just pushed you onto Mother and said, 'Alcina, take care of her,' then vanished. That left Mother quite puzzled, so she ended up locking you in the wine cellar as usual." The redhead vividly describes the scene, as if she were there herself.
"How did you manage to make the stone-hearted priestess flustered, outsider?" The dark-haired woman leans in to observe you. You vaguely feel she's not entirely mortal either.
"Cassandra! Daniela! Why are you still here? Mother told you to behave and not run around when we have guests," a blonde woman enters.
"Bela, do you know she's the one who made Mother Miranda so different?" Daniela's big smile still hangs on her face.
"I do. Mother just discussed how to deal with her with Donna. In fact, they were also at a loss." Bela replies.
"Wait, can I say something?" You can't help but speak up, "I know Miranda is your priestess, but from what you just described, she didn't intentionally abandon me here, is that right?" Warmth floods your heart, along with a chuckle, even though they're still shrouded in unpredictable facts.
"That's right. Mother decided to let you stay in our castle until Mother Miranda returns to decide what to do with you," Bela says.
"Um, since this is a castle, can I not stay in the wine cellar? Can I sleep in a fancier place, like the living room floor?"
You are led into the foyer by the sisters. When they levitate, you feel like your eyeballs are about to pop out. "Come on, startled little thing," Daniela tugs at your arm. Sitting on the sofa in the foyer are two ladies. One has a towering figure you've never imagined, dressed in a white silk gown with a wide-brimmed black hat. Bela tells you she's their mother, Lady Dimitriscu. The other lady is in mourning attire, veiled in black, with only her ears and hands exposed. You're informed she's Lady Beneviento, accompanied by a doll named Angie. When you decide not to be surprised by anything today, the doll speaks up."The Bird Lady’s favorite!"
You see Lady Beneviento gesture to quiet Angie down.
"You truly are a miracle. No one has ever elicited such a reaction from Mother Miranda in all the years since she lost her daughter," Lady Dimitriscu speaks as she sizes you up.
"How many years has Eva been gone from her?" you ask sorrowfully, knowing how much Miranda loves her daughter.
"It's been a century. When I first met her, she wasn't as distant as she became in the following decades. Perhaps it was because her hope for Eva's resurrection was greatest at that time. But after countless failures, she became more and more indifferent, sometimes even cruel. Besides accepting volunteers, she would tie the heretics to the operating table and complete her experiment, which was when the rumors of lycans began. For those decades, her life was only about preaching and experimentation, and nothing else could move her." Lady Dimitriscu tells you with grief. "You're the first."
You cannot imagine how much pain Miranda has gone through. The Spanish flu took away her only love, causing her to isolate herself for a hundred years. You finally fully understand her various ambiguous behaviors before. There's something pulling her true self, restraining her, forcing her to suppress her emotions and desires. Who could treat her like this? Only herself.
You get lost in your thoughts for a while until Angie sharply calls your name, which brings you back to reality. You see Lady Beneviento gesturing something to her doll, then Angie speaks with a soothing voice, "Miranda has helped us a lot, and I'm grateful for that. I'm willing to do something for her. But in recent years, she's become increasingly reluctant to appear in public eye, you know, she's almost like Donna now." Angie's voice suddenly becomes sharp at the end of her statement.
"With her help, I have three daughters, Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela. That's the happiest thing for me. I hope she can find her happiness too, just hoping the process isn't so painful. I'm looking forward to sharing the joy of raising daughters with her." Lady Dimitriscu smiles, but her eyes look bitter at the three girls teasing around Lady Beneviento and Angie, one slightly reserved, one ready to quarrel with Angie and start a chase, and one teasing her sisters.
"In any case, we really enjoy our lives," Lady Dimitriscu concludes. Bela can't stop her sisters and Angie from quickly leaving to play, so she awkwardly sits beside Lady Beneviento, letting go of Cassandra's cloak in her hand. Lady Dimitriscu shares a lot about their experiences with Miranda.
"I didn't know about these things before. I was attracted to her, even confessed my feelings to her, and then she rejected me." You tell them about your laboratory life with Miranda.
"Perhaps you are the new variable in Miranda's experiment," a deep, slightly hoarse voice comes from behind the black veil.
At this moment, the three wind-like women return to the living room, all saying in unison, "Miranda is at the door!" They've watched her hesitating to knock on the door for several minutes.
You realize you have to say something to her now. You really hope Miranda can find her true self. It's something you can do.
You open the door and see her standing there in a subdued manner, her hands twisted together uncomfortably.
"Hey, this doesn't look like you're the village's priestess!" you step forward and gently place your hand on hers. Miranda looks up, surprised to see you opening the door. There's a hint of panic in her blue eyes, "Oh." Then she seems to try to calm herself down. She releases her hand, letting yours slip away naturally. "Aren't you afraid of me?"
You come a bit closer to her, "No." "Even if I tell you my true identity, the things I've done, including abducting you." Miranda tries to bury her unease in the pebbles on the ground. "No, Miranda. You don't need to be flawless," your hands cover her cold cheeks, making her look up, meeting your eyes, "I know I can't completely understand your pain, but you're allowed to have other feelings. You've just kidnapped yourself, thinking your love for little Eva should be everything. But accepting others' feelings for you doesn't change anything, my dear. You're the village's priestess, people should love and respect you, not fear you. The wooden goat would prefer neighbors who play and laugh with it, rather than being lonely in a solemn shrine. It would also want to see the world outside the mountain." You see waves in her eyes. "Allowing yourself to be whole won't stop you from finding Eva. If Eva wakes up and sees her mother is so different from the last time she saw her, will she feel strange and sad?" "I...never thought about these things." She closes her eyes, feeling your thumb brushing away her tears.
"It's okay, Miranda. You can try, so the villagers won't be afraid, and the Four Lords can find their friend Miranda, rather than having a chilling superior-subordinate relationship."
"What about you?" Miranda asks softly.
"Me? I'll do my best to help you achieve your wish, to have Eva by your side again."
"I have a simpler wish." You've hardly ever seen Miranda smile like this. She puts her hand on the nape of your neck, pulling you towards her, planting a gentle kiss on your lips.
"Hey, Miranda." You tuck a strand of her dark hair behind her ear.
"Yeah?"
"Do you know crows are actually colorful in the eyes of other birds?"
"What?"
"Didn't the Megamycete tell you?" you chuckle, embracing her.

Lore Olmypus Episode 271 Spoilers
We're in the endgame now. I guess.
And I feel absolutely nothing. Any tension that could have hyped me up for this moment was squashed by my frustration with every character's lack of thinking skills.
Why exactly are Hera and Persie passed out on the ground? Kronos didn't even do anything yet, all that happened was that he closed the door after Hera and Persie managed to squeeze through at the last moment.
Speaking of, this episode shows us that Kronos is huddled up in (what is presumably) his cell deep down in Tartarus so how exactly did he control the door?
It will never be not funny to me that Kronos, ancient tyrant and titan of time (*rolls eyes*) sounds like a modern-day incel whenever he talks. And then other times RS remembers she's writing the supposed Big Bad and has him switch to more appropriate language on the fly. The whiplash is unreal.
Persephone: "Kronos is powerful but erratic. This makes his behavior hard to anticipate."
Oh, is that RS's in-universe excuse for Kronos switching motivations every time we see him? First he wants to return to the world of the living, then he wants to take revenge on Hades, then he suddenly wants Persephone but actually he wants Hera. And now he wants... Hera again, I guess. Holy constantly shifting goals, Batman!
Kronos: "I will take pleasure in your gradual and painful destruction!"
also Kronos: *proceeds to sit in his cell and do nothing for the entirety of the episode*
If you want to make Kronos actually menacing instead of just annoying, maybe have him do more than an occasional supervillain-laugh RS.
I will admit, the visual of Hera and Persephone slowly descending into Tartarus and past all these human souls reaching out for them from their cells is cool. It makes the whole situation actually feel tense and scary, knowing there's something terrible waiting for the protags down this endless pit but also knowing that they have no choice but slowly climb towards it.
Or it would be if RS didn't ruin it with Persie doing very obvious cover-ups for story flaws a lot of critics pointed out while she's descending.
Like "Oh, I don't talk or think about how the fuck Apollo managed to channel my powers or where Hades actually is because I'm disassociating from it as a defense mechanism."
Persie that would be way more convincing if you'd done literally anything besides sitting on your ass and whining this season.
This constant narrative that everything is just too much for poor girlboss Persie and that's why she's doing fuck all doesn't really work when all that happened is that people rightfully called Persie out for making a mess while Persie hid away in the Underworld. Rather than work on solutions to the problems she caused or at least try to help with the fall-out.
She hasn't tried to learn more about her powers or about her deal. She didn't try to get in contact with Erebus. She hasn't done anything to try and free Melinoe from Kronos. She didn't help with the preparations for the sleep dive, neither did she even offer to take part in it even though it concerns both her and Hades' kingdom. She refused to participate in the meeting between the gods on what to do about the "plague" but still felt the need to make commentary over the phone. She hasn't come forward about Apollo's numerous crimes to keep him from taking over Olympus, even though she has several powerful deities to back up her claims.
Every time Persie could have chosen to become more than a passive bystander, she had some other character step up and do or say something instead.
Hera: "So are the fertility goddess stories real and you are one?"
Is... is that not common knowledge at this point?
The Fertility Goddess Mystery Box is becoming bloated with how much shit RS keeps putting in.
So apparently whatever Apollo did with the help of Ouranos at the broadcast was only "manufactured" and any greenery he managed to create with Persie has presumably died again by now. Okay. Persie knows this how?
The irony of RS making Hades look exactly like Kronos in the flashback to him and Persie accidentally doing the going giant-thing.
Persephone: "I did make [Apollo] bleed from his eyes and ears though, so that's a win."
Huh?
Persephone: "It's something I can do with my new powers; I was sort of able to rot his physical form from the inside."
Huh?
Persephone: "I think I can do some damage to Kronos that way."
HUH???
Hold on, so does Persie know how her powers work or does she not??? What is it with this cloud somersault in logic???? When the fuck did she figure this out????
Hera: "I'm not really one for combat."
Girl you fought in the fucking Titanomachy, what do you mean???
(The way RS repeatedly portrays women as physically helpless and incapable of defending themselves without outside help, I want to throw up all of my organs)
Alright, as much as I hate everything leading up to it I actually like the conversation between Hera and Kronos. Hera using Kronos' victim complex and egocentrism against him is actually really clever. And I like the small glimpse we get into Kronos' past and how Ouranos' abuse helped shape him into the monster we know today.
Kronos justifying his own cruelty by comparing it to Ouranos' allegedly much more evil deeds while completely missing that his actions have made him no better than Ouranos is neat. That's abusers for you. "I know I hurt you but I could've been worse! Also I had it way worse than you! Pity me!"
I did not expect Hera drawing this paralell between her and Kronos, of being deities who did horrible things for the greater good and ended up despised despite the sacrifices they made, but it's cool.
It's bullshit, but it's bullshit Hera knows Kronos will buy because of just how blind he is to his own faults.
Okay, final thoughts.
Someone else pointed this out, but this is literally just the season 3 finale again.
Kronos takes over a large part of the Underworld and controls the bodies of a bunch of powerful deities, Hades among them.
Persephone has to descend to the Underworld.
Another powerful god tags along with Persie and does 80% of the work to set up Persie's #Girlboss victory.
Not RS building up a different villain all season and then just going "Sike! It's Kronos again!"
At this point, I fully expect Ouranos and Apollo to be defeated off-screen.

A lot of things I hear and have a resistance to, I find hard to untangle and figure out. Is this Israeli propaganda I haven't unpacked yet, or is it that these people are applying a lens that doesn't fit the situation?
For example, the idea that Israeli music is appropriated when it sounds Middle Eastern, is it correct or is it because 60% of Israeli Jews are Mizrahi, coming from Arab countries, have a long history of making music like this? What did we appropriate and what did we bring with us? I don't know how to look into that, I don't understand music enough. Same with food, what's appropriated and what did people just bring with them? A lot of us never left the Middle East. So I don't know. I have no idea how to check which is which. I can point to the erasure of Palestinian culture as lending itself to appropriation, because it's real and it's insidious, but the rest I personally don't know how to pick apart.
But there's also something I hear more and more about how Israelis changed our names into Hebrew names to sound more indigenous. On one side of my family, the original name was Levi because of the tribe of Levi. It was changed to hide that we're Jewish and avoid violence in diaspora. Are people changing names because they finally feel free to have visibly Jewish names, or is it some attempt to obscure a history in diaspora? This isn't music, this is something I can look at a bit more easily.
I'm sure for many of us the freedom to go back to our roots is valuable. It's true that a lot of us had Hebrew names we used among ourselves, and "localized" names (not sure what else to call it) we used in official documentation etc. I'm named after my great great grandmother's Hebrew name that she had while living in France, and she never moved to Israel. I'm sure she would have loved the safety of using her name officially. So, of course, many people jumped on this opportunity. You give them the ability to register with a new name, and they use the name they had in the safety of their own community.
A Jewish person changing their name to Hebrew is often shedding a false identity they were forced to adopt.
But at the same time.
When Jewish refugees were brought here in early immigration waves, their names were changed often not by their choice. Leadership had a whole thing about imposing Hebrew names on people. I remember a story from history class, I don't remember which aliyah it was about, but we were told about people standing there and someone being like "All of you - your name is this. And this bunch - your name is that." There was a joke stereotype about Ethiopian Israelis having names that start with the letter alef because that's the first letter of the alphabet and their names were picked from an alphabetized list.
When my family members came to Israel, they kept their non-Hebrew surname, but they were given a list of Hebrew names to choose from. I think this was recently enough the they would have been able to say no to it, though. So they took their Hebrew names willingly.
I don't know if it's accurate to say the intention was to sound more indigenous. Because, at the time that this was mostly happening, the zionist movement was proudly colonialist. They separated between us and the Palestinians, placing the Palestinians as the indigenous population, as a way of placing us above them.
I think it was an attempt to homogenize Israeli society. To make it into something cohesive. Part of the melting pot. Another thing that was happening at the same time was all kinds of abuses to try to strip Jewish immigrants and refugees from their cultural and religious practices. Zionism had a very complicated and toxic relationship with Judaism, especially in those days. It had a goal of founding a state with Western enlightenment values, but for Jewish people. It relied on Judaism as an ethnicity for the definition of an in-group, and hated Judaism as a religion.
But about the names. I don't think it's to fake indigeniety. I think in some cases it's a genuine return to our own language now that we're comfortable, and in other cases, forced assimilation.

yo mango, i found this in twitter(x). a creator in twitter sented this.
Tumblr media
Oh boy, yes this is the response I was referring to in my other post, and I have some things to say about it.
TL;DR: Clarification is nice but it shouldn't be up to the employees to apologise for something that upper management should've taken accountability for anyway. I'm not accepting everything as "fixed" until Celeste says anything else.
Obligatory "we don't know everything so don't jump to conclusions!!!" disclaimer (personally I love jumping to conclusions I love drama lol)
(also my stance on what I'm doing with this account is at the bottom of it so go take a look if you wanna know what I'm gonna do)
Ok first off, let's start positive, good to have some accountability and a bit of clarification on what's happened, considering I honestly thought GLITCH was just gonna keep quiet and hope for it to brush over, having the manager tell their side of the story is a good thing.
That's all the positives I have towards this apology because the rest are all negative.
For starters, why is the manager taking full accountability for this, while yes they made the decision, the higher ups should be taking accountability, at the end of the day Jasmine is an employee of GLITCH. Normally when something happens within a company, the company itself will put out a statement taking accountability for the actions of their staff. This hasn't happened yet, it's not Jasmine's full responsibility for this, there should be recognition from the company of their mistake.
I get if they're taking a while to make a response, but it's not hard to put out a statement saying "hey, we fucked up, sorry". It would be miles better than having an employee put it out IN THEIR FAN DISCORD SERVER OF ALL PLACES, thank got it got reposted because none of us would know others.
Furthermore, what is the main message from this, the main reason for this happening? "Oops I forgot". That's such a shitty excuse, especially for a manager. I completely understand getting overworked as hell, from what I've seen Jasmine is also the manager for a lot of other things at GLITCH, and if GLITCH's Glassdoor reviews are anything to go by, overworking employees seems to be their biggest flaw.
Something like this slipping their mind would be fair and understandable under those circumstances, but that's what upper management is for, it's up to them to make sure people do what they're employed to do, that includes making sure the appropriate messages are sent out, especially for big changes like this. Of course no one likes to have a boss that questions everything you do, but having someone check that all the appropriate messages are sent out is pretty damn important for running a company.
This is ultimately a show of poor management on GLITCH's behalf, had they communicated better not just with Celeste but also with each other, this entire situation would've been avoided.
I don't think this is some catastrophic downfall that can never be resolved, it actually can be resolved quite easily. All it involves is an admission of negligence on GLITCH's side and a proper apology to be sent and accepted by Celeste. Obviously I'm not gonna go demanding such things be made public but treating this like GLITCH's downfall is just kinda silly, this can be fixed.
Yes this is bad, and you should feel upset/angry about this all happening, seeing voice actors being treated poorly and "forgotten" about sucks and doesn't reflect well on GLITCH at all, if you don't want to support GLITCH right now that's completely reasonable, but this isn't worth wishing the companies downfall over. Advocate for change, not carnage.
There is also the possibility that this whole "apology" is bullshit. More comments from SMG2's now former VA have come out about this apology.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this is all true, then that's just as bad on GLITCH's side. Ultimately we won't know the entire story until Celeste makes any other comment, however given how taxing this has all been on her, it's understandable if she doesn't say anything now, or ever to be honest.
My love and support goes out to Celeste during this time. I hope she and GLITCH can come to some kind of agreement that allows everyone to move on.
Anyway, so about me now, haiiii
I'm likely gonna mostly hault making SMG4 art for a while due to this, I love this series and I don't like to see this all happen to it, but I care more about treating voice actors fairly and making sure they're given the respect they deserve, if that involves stopping my support for GLITCH for now then so be it. I'm hoping this gets resolved, if that does happen i'll go back to normal, if not thennnnn I'll deal with that when it happens.
I'm still happy to interact with people in this community still, there's a few ideas and pieces I want to make for other people still, things like AU arts and DTIYS's, so I'll be doing that, but as for new SMG4 art and memes, not right now. (lets face if the SMG4 community on Tumblr is so far removed from everyone else it's basically our own series out here lmao)
I'll still draw Mango don't worry, he's basically my persona so I can detach him from SMG4 for now, my silly lil guy isn't going anywhere.
I understand that a lot of people are upset by this and are trying to block it out and carry on as normal. While I understand why most of you are taking that stance, I know a lot of you are teens and SMG4 is a source of comfort for a large chunk of you, please don't just ignore all this happening. I don't even care if you take an inconclusive stance on this, just please don't block it out entirely and pretend it's not happening, that's just not fair on Celeste.
I'll be doing my best to keep up with this as much as possible. I know I've come across as overly critical during all this, but I don't like seeing people act like GLITCH has done nothing wrong and never can. It's ok if a company you like has done something shitty, they do that all the time, but its not ok to let them get away with it and pretend it never happened, that's just covering for their shitty actions. I'm not going to cover for GLITCH's shitty actions which is why I'm speaking up about it and will continue to do so until some kind of resolution is reached.
Anyway I've talked enough, if you're reading haii hello thanks for reading the whole thing , if you skimmed to the bottom I'm shooting you with lasers (/j). We'll see what comes of all this but until then take care. <3

What would marriage look between Gabe and V1? Would V1 try and get something special for Gabe or would it just bring a severed head and be like "tee hee,,,is for you :3"
OOUGHGGHGHUUUHH.....MARRIED......i'm gonna need to ask that everyone forgive how sappy i'm likely to be here, but i think if this was ever something they decided to do, it would obviously be their own, sort of improvised idea of marriage. v1 doesn't entirely have a concept of something like that even if it knows it exists - i mentioned it in an ask awhile back, but the closest it likely has to this is weighing its relationship with appropriate modifiers to determine that gabriel is now "husband" lol gabriel, on the other hand, viewed marriage as an important aspect of human culture and their covenant with god, but it's not something practiced in heaven as souls and angels existing there are bound only to god - it would simply be inappropriate to place any relationship as more important than the others all around you. so he doesn't give it much credence, and overall what he and v1 are is sort of...hard to define for him. partners if he must BUT...should v1 spontaneously just decide to start calling him "husband", i think he MIGHT have a lot to consider in very rapid succession.
for v1, the designation is just it making sense of its own feelings and figuring this is the best label for what it's experiencing - it would likely settle on this when gabriel is dealing with the onset of his fallen traits. the process isn't without pain and it sometimes leaves him exhausted or even ill, meaning that their sparring matches are regularly being put on hold in order for him to rest. and v1 thinks this over at some point in admittedly rare introspection, having to painstakingly pick through the emotions that make it stay, that make gabriel more important than a drive for violence in everything it does. nothing about love comes easily or naturally to v1, it never should have been capable of caring so much with how its programming was implemented, yet it's fully committed to being here with gabriel and any way he changes isn't going to diminish its love for him. so. that's a lifelong, binding commitment, right? which means "husband" must suit their situation. simple!
gabriel, on the other hand, feels completely insane when it starts dropping that word out of nowhere!! initially, he's so caught off-guard that he can't really articulate the utter shock he expresses in response, but he soon decides v1's either just messing around or that it has no idea what it's saying and simply likes the word (it does that often, sometimes repeating words bc it likes the sound they make or the sign used for them). but when he tries to explain this to it, the implications of such a word, the weight and meaning it has in a relationship, v1 simply agrees with him. yeah right, the together forever thing, choosing to spend your life with one person until you die or they die (OR divorce!!! which they argue about for awhile in a tangent) ALL THIS TO SAY THO that this how i see marriage being a consideration, with v1 sort of offering it up in its own way and gabriel now thinking that they really are in that deep. he knows he's the same way, he wouldn't leave v1 now for anything and his life without it would be something unimaginable. v1 has only just learned to love for him and he has a still infinite angelic capacity for love that pours into it. so why not? what's the harm in voicing that sentiment, giving it a little ceremony in some way? marriage, he knows, is meant to be the bonding of two souls in life and it may very well be that neither of them have a soul to give now....but maybe they do. or maybe that doesn't matter.
but really it's also about v1's feelings, feelings that are still well-protected but that gabriel has come to see the depth and immensity of in the time they've spent together now. it never asks for them to be tended to and it doesn't often tend to them itself, but navigating a myriad of emotions and experiences it never should have had comes with anxieties. it struggles to interpret the complexities of a relationship sometimes and it has worries of its own, that if being an artificial intelligence means its thoughts and self are viewed by gabriel on some level as less "real", or that its probable lack of a soul diminishes its value to an angel. it knows gabriel must have considered these things at least at some point, but it doesn't know how to approach topics like this and they make it uncomfortably existential besides, so it shoves them off somewhere to forget and doesn't respond much to gabriel trying to open it up. so...maybe this is how he can show too that nothing about v1 gives him pause in their relationship or any hesitation in how he feels. and for gabriel, being able to fully commit in his love would likely feed a fundamental part of him, to acknowledge his investment fulfilling a need he didn't know he had until then.
i kind of like the idea that maybe they would go to the surface to do it, since that's at least one of their homes - the ceremony itself isn't anything grand and follows no set traditions, but they would definitely exchange gifts!! they decide on something small and perhaps that they can always keep with them, something sentimental without too much practical value, if any....which proves to be something of a challenge for both of them lol. v1 chooses to thread a couple of its coins into a necklace, which gabriel does find a little funny even if v1 insists it wasn't trying to be (for once). gabriel goes through the last of the effects he took from home, weaving heavenly thread he's used to mend his clothes together with fur pulled from the mantle of his cloak to braid a wristband - the two sides of him coming together and fully given to v1. they lay out their promise to one another without getting overly formal into vows - instead i like the idea that maybe they made a piece of music for each other since it's something they share so often and it's easier to speak that way for both of them. of course the emotion over the course of the day finds its outlet in a good fight, but one distinctly different from all the rest - the earth is a world alone now, no longer watched by heaven, emptied of inhabitants itself, and where hell or the terminals can't touch them. it's just them, and perhaps the few quiet plants that have grown over all as reward for their singular survival. no one else will see them, hear them, know what they did, save for themselves. they know they can't stay, both actually too acclimated to hell to ever leave it now, but they do at least spend one night out in the fresh air - and no one will know they're any different by the time they come back

An ask game for writers to procrastinate working on you WIP(s)
Whoaaaa thank you for the tags @shrekgogurt, @bookish-bogwitch, @thewholelemon, @cutestkilla, @monbons, @drowninginships, and @blackberrysummerblog! I'm pretty sure that's everyone! I love being tagged in shit.
1. 🦈Tell us the name of your/ one of your WIP(s): So you just like... have names for them? Before you post them?
I will say that for once, a name did come to me, so one of them is tentatively titled Fettuccine and Foreplay, but I might change it because Foreplay is misleading. I'm sorry to say that it is not smutty, and the events are questionably even foreplay. But the alliteration. And Fettuccine and Flirting just doesn't have the same ring to it.
2. 🍄Describe your WIP/one of your WIP(s) in the format of “___ + ___ =___” God, why am I so bad at this?
Nevermore Academy + Penny = offensive assumptions, defensive students, and a magical breakthrough waiting to happen
3. 🌍What tags or warnings will one of your WIP(s) need if you intend to share it? uhhhhhh. I don't usually think about tags until I'm ready to post, so I am not prepared for this question... I can't really think of anything. Which makes me feel like my stories are hella boring.
Update after finishing and rediscovering an old wip: fluff! yay fluff.
4. 🧭An alternative title to one of your WIP(s)? Alternative titles??? So not only do you have titles, you also have extras laying about????
I guess I already talked about it in #1, but Fettuccine and Flirting. I do not like it.
5. ⚠️Which WIP you're most likely to finish or update next? Probably the Fettuccine one. It's a one-shot and a good portion done (almost ready for a beta, I think?). I like to write the whole story before I start posting, so the Wednesday x CO crossover is going to take a goooooood while. Idk how many chapters it is yet, I just know it's more than 3.
6. 💾What is your document of your WIP/ a WIP called? (not the stories actual title but what you’ve saved it as) I think my most interesting one is called Sundays With Gran. It's more of a drabble that I might work into a story at some point than it is an actual WIP though. But my actual WIPs have uninteresting names.
7. 🖍Post Any sentence(s) from your WIP.
It’s especially hard to believe in this reality when there’s a glow, a sparkle, a buzz around even the most mundane of sights when Simon is involved.
That's not even from a WIP I've already mentioned. I rediscovered this one while looking at document titles for this post!
8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP. I have one fic, the one from #7, where I originally wanted musings from each of the main 4, which each describing what's happening through focusing on a different sense or set of senses. Like Simon would be taste or touch, Penny would be sound, Baz would be sight, and Shep would be touch or smell. But that felt too restrictive. Senses are still a big part of it, of course, and there may still be strong affinities for one sense over another for each character, but they'll experience with the most appropriate sense for the moment.
9. 🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet? I really want to write more CO x Heartstopper (which we're calling Snowstopper because we're so clever) fics, but I'm making good progress on these other two and I'm afraid I'll lose the momentum if I start on the next Snowstopper idea. So I'll leave that for Kat to start in the meantime.
10. 🤡How many WIPS are you actively working on? At the beginning of this post, 2. As of #7, 3!
11. 🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now? So many! I think I need to rewrite much of what started the Wednesday x CO fic. The entire first two chapters don't feel quite in character for Penny.
And then most of this rediscovered fic, for now called Tiny Dots. (Hey look! A title!) Like I said before, it's character musings, and I'm not sure how to string them together in a way that feels cohesive.
12. ❤️Not a question, just a second Kudos to send.
I feel like I procrastinated on this procrastination game for so long that everyone else has already done it! I'm sorry if you've already been tagged 100 times, and especially if you've already done it and I missed it, buuuuut: @onepintobean @martsonmars @facewithoutheart umm... if you haven't been tagged, but want to be tagged, consider yourself tagged (or tell me and I'll update this post with your tag and no one has to know).

Say It With A Smile, Part 4
(I have been hesitant to preface the actual text of these posts in order to let them speak for themselves, but I have to be clear, this is the point where this fic really enters territory not suitable for minors. There's only so much I can do to prevent that from happening, and it's not as though we're jumping straight into the kama sutra, but I refuse to let it go unsaid that this is not intended for minors. From here onward, it's also fair to say this will have nsft and nsfw stuff going on. With that warning, here's what you've come here for)
------
You don't know much about him, but given the prolonged silence between you two, you're getting the impression that Alastor loves to savor all things. After thanking Niffty for fetching tea for the two of you, he'd taken his time letting it cool, then taken measured sips from his "Oh Deer" mug while surveying the skyline of the Pride Ring from his bird's-eye view. You're holding a mug of tea no fuller than when you'd been handed it, the warmth on your hands helping to ground you after your near-death experience. Maybe "near-second-death experience" was more accurate. And you're frightened, but that's not the only emotion; there's a very present, yet repressed, writhing feeling squirming out from under the stifling weight of self-preservation. The sort of feeling that had an entirely separate section of Hell to help put it into practice.
You wouldn't dream of initiating the conversation. You can only wait for him to collect his thoughts, or become bored of teasing you, or whatever is making him drag out the stifling silence.
"So, little fawn. My sincerest apologies for losing my temper. I can't expect you to just forget what you saw back there. Normally, when I feel that someone could be a problem, I just kill them, but killing you hardly seems appropriate. For both of our sakes, I'd hope that you'll put that exchange out of your mind. I try very, very hard to only kill when someone's really done something to deserve it, and luckily, I don't know you well enough to judge your morality. And you may be in Hell, but that doesn't make you a bad person, does it?"
You hope not.
"Wonderful! You have my word that I will exercise the utmost restraint around you from now on. You have nothing to fear if you simply stay on my good side." He pauses, the area around his eyes darkening, like they've lost some of their luminescence. His voice, however, drips with knowing sultriness. "But you want to be on my good side, don't you?"
You do, yes. Although not only to avoid being killed.
"That goes nicely into the next point of discussion." He turns in his chair so that he's looking directly at you, his eyes finding yours no matter where they may drift. Using his cane as a visual aid, he continues. "These ears aren't the only thing that are perfectly tuned. I also have an excellent nose, much more sensitive than your average sinner's. And dear, you reek of pheromones. Just the sort that I'd normally change the station on, but these times are hardly normal. My body, powerful as it is, needs to repair itself, and it's putting a strain on the rest of me. The kind of strain that makes it... difficult, to control oneself. There's nothing worse than not being in control, wouldn't you agree?"
It might depend, honestly. Controlling one's destiny, or living space, or boundaries, those are good. But sometimes, it can be nice for someone else to take the lead.
He chuckles, but his jovial cadence loses a bit of its luster. "An area where we differ, then. I prefer to never give anyone the upper hand against me. This will not be the exception." He stands from his chair, one hand on the middle of his cane and both arms behind his back as he paces the floor, his back to you, his voice back to its usual springiness. "You're in a very unique position, little fawn. I can tell without even hearing you say it that you're interested in me, and I just so happen to be in need of a plaything, and a way to make sure that you keep my secret. Why don't you and I make a deal?"
You're not sure how interested you are in a Faustian bargain.
"Come now, this isn't a handshake, or a paper to sign. It's a promise; I'll give you the attention you're clearly craving, and in return, you never breathe a word to Charlie or Vaggie, or anyone else, about what you saw. Oh, and there'll be no touching me. But we're both adults here, so you're free to stop me at any time, and I'll be frequent with my asking permission. Seem fair?"
You can feel the heat rising in your cheeks, your heart accelerating all over again. He's not wrong; there's an animal magnetism that keeps you from thinking straight around him. As dangerous as he is, there's an intoxicating idea of him bringing you right to the edge, and then pulling you back. The relinquishing of power, giving yourself over to something that could easily kill you, but caresses you instead. But this feels so sudden.
"Well, I'm not going to lay claim to you tonight, my dear. Where's the fun in dessert before dinner? This is an arrangement we're making that you'll honor when the mood is right. I'll have a special phone placed in your room, and should I have need of your company, I'll send for you. As long as you honor the agreement that we've made, you will have a wonderful time, and that's a guarantee."
And this is something he'll enjoy, as well?
"You must understand, the act in most of its forms does nothing at all for me. Even in the Living World I had no use for it. But this isn't about that; it's about the control. Any fool can grab whatever piece of control they can dig their claws into, but when someone gives it you willingly?" He turns, his smile curled sadistically. "Now that's entertainment."
You feel a shiver run through your body, a nervous excitement gathering in you that you're sure he can sense somehow. He crosses the distance between himself and you, with methodical steps that you know he's enjoying. Inches away from you, he takes your chin in his clawed fingers, the points settling on your skin so gently you can only feel their very edge, an eyelash away from cutting your flesh, perfectly restrained. He forces your face up, making you keep your eyes on him. In his eyes, you see the gaze of someone who's just found a new favorite toy. "We're going to have such fun together, you and I."

So. I'm still new to radical feminism and still in the middle of my peak trans, so I'm trying to be careful with my critical thinking and tonight I genuinely wondered about that injunction that feminism must by default ve trans inclusive. Because does it, really? What do trans people actually bring on the table for feminism? Or are they only beneficiary/exploitative of feminism without bringing on anything in return but misogynistic anon hate? I wondered "hey, if "trans women are women" is a true statement, then what is statistically the involvement of trans women in women's rights? In abortion's rights? In thing that allegedly concern womanhood even if it doesn't concern them personally?"
Because I'm a lesbian and chances are I'll never need an abortion in my whole life. Hell, due to personal reasons, I'd have more chances to want to keep my pregnancy going if I had to have one because I might not be able handle abortion psychologically. Yet, I'm fighting for every woman to be able to have an abortion, to have that choice. Even if more likely than not it doesn't effect me as an individual as much as it effects me as a woman. Because women always have to bear the weight of all the women's rights anyway, we get little privileges in terms of individuation in comparison to men. So I wondered -genuinely, in good faith- if trans women were feeling the weight of this as well or if it was going to be full male "not my problem, don't care" entitlement. And ladies. Let me offer some more exhibit (I swear these are all the first results I had for TWO different wordings on Google):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So let's do the midnight/mushbrain quick unpacking of this :
- No stats
- No arguments, we're supposed to accept trans women benefit feminism because They Said So™
- Lots of vitriolic takes on anyone questioning it ("cruel" "appropriative of the rhetoric of women's rights" that "inflict life-threatening harm on trans people"-lol-, "narrowly interpreting a statement", "bigoted", "anti feminist", weakening feminism)
- Many of those are made by trans women and also denying biological reality [not surprising, BUT an argument of TRAs is that most trans people believe in bio sex...despite hating radfems, somehow]
- It's so focused on pushing the trans activism, trying to prove that trans women don't have male privileges (an idea in these examples often defended by...other males) and that uwu but transwomen experience misogyny too uwu + trying so hard to prove us that there's no threat to women's rights here whatsoever. Nope. None. Please, look elsewhere. That it doesn't answer my question directly.
And by that lack of answer I ironically found it. It's male centered. It's gaslighting us in believing women's rights are ok and NEED trans activism (cause women need saviors and haven't been handling feminism themselves on their own and under hatred all of these centuries, y'know /s?). Nobody cares about women's rights here. It's not based on facts, it's all based on the fact we should blindly believe what TiM say. That including them will benefit us somehow and that it's not male violence because they identify as women so they allegedly can't reproduce male violence. All that while packaging disagreement from female feminists in diverse degrees of insults and misogyny and misinformation...say again how there's no trans agenda here and how it's not like, oh, I don't know, literal male entitlement and narcissism?
Anyway, I'm too sleepy to dig further but by all means, please do if you want to add something.
Just, I'm new to this and this is already pretty exhausting. To think a lot of you have been radfems for years...istg y'all are braver than honeybadgers (complimentary). Literally all the online communities now cater to them and throw us under the bus when we raise questions. It's male privileges benefiting males over females.
Exhibit 4852 about why radfems/gender criticals are right.

This might be a bit of a big ask but what are your thoughts on the rest of the Gen 9 cross-gen evos that weren't revealed before release (Annihilape, Clodsire, Dudunsparce and Kingambit)?
Tumblr media
I think a lot of people kind of missed the point of Dudunsparce. Dunsparce is a tsuchinoko, a rare Japanese cryptid known for being completely useless and stealing your booze. It's supposed to be a joke, kind of like Magikarp but without becoming anything useful. Ergo, having a low-effort evo that just becomes a slightly longer Dunsparce makes perfect sense, much more so than it suddenly becoming a dragon or something.
Dudunsparce also comes in two forms, a two- and three-segment version. Not much to say about these, other than they continue the joke of it being rare but useless (given the low odds of getting a three-segment form).
Tumblr media
Visually, one nice thing about Dudunspace is that its wings and segments are numbered 1 and 2 (and sometimes 3 depending on form). It's subtle, but it's a clever visual twist to an otherwise plain design.
However, I have to admit, there is something about Dudunsparce that bugs me a bit. I think it's just that Dunsparce has such a good design that a lot of the stuff Dudunsparce does just lessens it. For example, having the head be separate from the first body segment just doesn't look good, and neither does the tail being on a straight rod connector instead of naturally flowing into the body. I also dislike the random purple rings on the underside, which add nothing to the design and are way too low-contrast. Overall, it's a silly joke 'mon, but one that could've maybe been a little stronger design-wise.
Tumblr media
Annihilape is a long-overdue evo for Primeape, and I gotta say, the entire thing is a brilliant reference. Specifically, to this one entry in Pokemon Sun:
Tumblr media
Taking that 'dex entry to its logical extreme and making a ghost-type evo for Primeape is brilliant, and makes for a great concept and visual twist on the original design. The wispy hair works perfectly, the red eyes and pink nose pop nicely, and the broken shackle on the arms is a perfect visual nod to Primeape. I also love the eerie, infuriated expression.
(Part of me wonders if it wouldn't have made more sense for it to be mellow given the entry its referencing, but then again it's not actually dead yet and sheer rage is kind of this line's thing.)
I guess the only real problem with it is that it feels a bit out of place due to the sudden color shift—but at the same time I get why they did that, as it reflects the new ghost-typing and overall looks cool, so I can't really complain.
Tumblr media
Finally we have Kingambit, my personal favorite out of all the new evos this gen. First, I'm always a sucker for cool humanoid 'mons, and Kingambit is the perfect mix of human-ish while also looking like a cool monster.
More importantly, Kingambit fits with the rest of the line perfectly. It is very, very hard to introduce an evo to a three-stage line and have it look like it actually belongs to that line (just look at Rhyperior). But Kingambit? The visuals are distinct, yet blend in so seamlessly with the rest of the line that you'd probably never guess they were generations apart if you weren't familiar with the line already. For example, the golden gloves are extended from Bisharp's hands as is the blade on the head, the shoulder pads are extensions of Bisharp's, the goat-like feet are kept, the middle blades have been extended, etc. It's masterfully done.
Tumblr media
In terms of the design, I love the silly giant mustache blades and how they provide a focal point to draw attention to the otherwise small face. The body design is appropriately samurai-like, and the gold accents are much better used here than on Bisharp due to being more prominent in the design.
My only real issue with it is that the hair-throne is pushing it a bit. I get that it's based off of the popular samurai squat/sitting pose, you know, this one:
Tumblr media
But having it just awkwardly scooting around when it moves feels incredibly forced and unnatural, making it harder to see as a living creature. The bottom of the hair under the legs also doesn't look great. I would've happily accepted it squatting in its default pose with the hair stopping at the legs, and it getting up to stand when following in the overworld and whatnot.
I'm also not big on the blades sticking out from the middle of the body. I get they were playing off of Bisharp's middle blades, but they look very fragile and really don't add much to the design. I feel like just having the metal rings around the middle to represent a samurai uniform would have been more than enough.
I also feel like the grey Vs on the knees weren't needed or could've at least been gold to make them pop more, though that's not terribly important overall. The top blade could've also maybe come down like 20%, just so its not competing with the mustache as much.
Anyway, overall, I think Gen 9 might have some of the strongest cross-gen evos of any game. Girafarig (already discussed in a previous review) is perfect, Dudunsparce is funny and fits the line's theme, Annihilape is a great lore reference, and Kingambit fits with the rest of its line absolutely perfectly and has strong theme. I gotta say, I'm impressed.

Perfect Match -16
Tumblr media
You don't know when you lost consciousness, but you're woken up to soft tapping on your arm. Mike is trying hard not to jar your body, because he knows you're in pain. Even the slightest movement triggers a pounding in your head & sets your chest on fire. "Y/N? Y/N? I did it. I did exactly what you told me to do," Mike whispers.
You can barely open your eyes, "Mike?"
"Yea, Bill will be here soon. He'll come for you here. Your dad made the follow-up call and they left to meet up with your grandfather. He has no idea Bill will know it's a trap. It'll be easier to break in with most of the guys gone."
"You did good. Real good." Speaking those few words bring on a coughing fit. The pain alone makes you see stars, but the amount of blood that comes up scares you.
"Y/N??" Mike kneels down next to you. "Your...there's blood." You start to softly cry. You feel it. Internal bleeding. This just confirms it.
The door opens behind Mike, "What the fuck is going on here?"
"Get your hands off me! You pervert!" You try to muster up as much anger as you can. Mike has a look of shock & fear.
He turns to see the leer on Arthur's face and he catches on. Getting to his feet, "Shut the fuck up! Don't flatter yourself. You look like shit!" He pulls it off with just a slight waver in his voice.
"Look at you, little gangster. I ain't stopping you. Go ahead." Arthur walks further into the room.
"No way. I'm not messing with her while you watch, you sick fuck!""
Shoving Mike back, "Then get outta my way so I can have some fun."
"Dude, I'm not sure we should be doing this. Paulo gave us clear instructions. We aren't supposed to touch her. Him and Mr. Luciano will be back soon."
"Fuck them. She killed my brother!" Arthur takes out a knife & pulls your body closer to him. You scream in pain, thanking the darkness that begins to overtake you. You don't want to be conscious for what Arthur has in mind. But with a sharp slap cross the cheek, it drags you back to the present, "Don't pass out yet, bitch. I have big plans for you."
*****
Micro stayed behind to coordinate the attack on the house and to monitor the feeds to keep Billy & the team safe. Using the equipment Micro had, he was able to monitor live feeds from the site. Using the earpieces, Billy reminded everyone of their orders. "We shoot to kill. The only people in that house that doesn't get a bullet is Y/N & Mike. If she says he's innocent, I'll believe her. I can always kill him at a later date if he's lying to me. Understood?"
The house is easily found, the tiara is sitting on a hedge against the house. Billy has Frank & a couple of your grandfather's men with him. Your grandfather insisted on coming along, but agreed to stay with the cars until the house was secure. Micro was able to get old maps to the house, so we had the layout, but he also hacked into government satellite that can use infrared to determine how many people are inside & where. The plan of attack has been memorized. Billy is methodical on his missions.
As they are making their way to the house to get into position, Micro's voice comes over the communication device. "Fuck, Russo. You need to go now! The infrared reading for Y/N shows her temperature is flickering into a dangerously low zone. Plus, there is some asshole towering over her in a position that does not look appropriate."
So much for methodical, Bill rushes the door & kicks it open. Listening to the instructions in their ear, the team trusts Micro to guide them through the house.
Bill gets to your room, the door is open & he enters to see a gangly man being tossed across the room. Mike. Arthur is between your thighs digging through the layers of your wedding dress trying to get at you. Arthur hears Bill enter & picks up his knife. He recognizes immediately who he is & plunges the knife in your abdomen. Your scream matches the one torn from Bill's throat. Bill squeezes the trigger. Even through the red haze of fury clouding Bill's vision, his hand doesn't waver and his aim is true. The bullet leaves the gun & hits precisely in the center of Arthur's forehead.
Bill falls to his knees by your side. "Micro! Get that fucking ambulance in here now! She's dying. Oh, fuck...I can't lose her. She can't die!" Billy wants to touch you, to cradle you so that you know he's there, but not one part of you doesn't look damaged. Bill lets the others secure the room & the house & he lays on the floor curled up next to you, so you know he's there. That he came for you. He traces his fingertips against parts of your skin that isn't bruised or bloody. "Angel, I love you. Please don't leave me." he whispers into your ear before pressing his lips to your cold, cracked lips.
His eyes trail to the knife sticking out of you and he want to pull it out, but he knows he can't or you'll bleed out faster. His tears fall on your face as he watches helplessly as your breathing slows to a stop.
Before he can register what's happening, Frank has his arms wrapped around Billy, pulling him away. The paramedics arrived and immediately start working on you. They are able to stabilize you enough to move you. "We need to get her to the hospital straight away. We also need to contact her next of kin, as they will probably need permission for surgery."
"I'm her fiance. Today should have been our wedding day. Can I come in the ambulance, please?" Billy asks, unable to hide the desperation in his voice.
"Of course. I'm sorry to hear that, but unfortunately you are not legally her next of kin. What about her parents?"
Billy didn't even realize your grandfather was in the room. "They are not available or able to give consent. I am her grandfather. I have document proving I am her legal next of kin. I can get you it if needed." Billy looks at him in confusion, but with a subtle shake of his head, Billy remains silent, watching Enzo text his on-call forger. Bill knew that whatever documents needed will no doubt be at the hospital before they get there.
You're loaded on to the ambulance and Bill is quick to follow, but quickly remembers something. "Frank, get Mike over & look after him! Make sure no harm comes to him. Bring him to the hospital, ok?" Frank nods in confirmation before heading back towards the house to find him.
Bill straps himself into the ambulance, holding your hand. He spends the whole trip talking to you, telling you all about what you should have been doing right now. You both would be married, but not to worry because as soon as you're the slightest bit better, he'll be marrying his girl. That you needed to get better because there's a kitten named Ginger that needed you. That he needed you. It was like Billy had moved through life in black and white. Until he met You You brought color to his world. He doesn't want to go through it without you.

why was chapter 4 of acotar bad? some short craft lessons
CH 4
DISCLAIMER: not an exhaustive list, etc etc
click here for the full comparison between the original chapter and my revision.
all caps dialogue = amateur hour
tamlin has never felt less threatening than when he bellows, "MURDERERS!" if you ever feel the impulse to all-caps your dialogue (especially when its already tagged with an appropriate descriptor, e.g., "bellow," and italicized), don't. it's distracting and never gives what you think it's giving.
inconsequential micro action = bad pacing
a scene doesn't have to be a catalogue of every action. if I made note of every time one of sjm's characters looked at another character, or took a step, or otherwise moved in a way that had no bearing on the scene on either a physical or emotional level—we'd be here all day.
99% of the time, describing where your character is looking is a waste of words. the human brain can't imagine fine detail very well, so visualizing where a character's gaze is directed can be hard, especially as it changes over the course of a scene. it's also usually unnecessary: if two characters are talking, we can assume they're looking at each other in various ways.
it also isn't dramatic action. 'dramatic' in the literary sense, rather than the theatrical: it doesn't do anything. it doesn't increase tension. unless it's extremely well-placed, it doesn't underline the emotion of a scene in any significant way. all it does is become gristle that the reader has to chew through to get to the meat of the scene.
passive protagonist = deflated stakes
this was the chapter that originally convinced me to do a rewrite. it's such a textbook missed opportunity, I can't believe sjm's agent or editor didn't ask her to change it (it's totally possible that they did, and sjm chose not to).
it's sjm's first real opportunity to show us feyre's character: she's gotten herself into a situation that feels impossible to escape. she's killed a faerie, a crime punishable by death, and we feel the jaws closing in.
but instead of outsmarting or outrunning it, feyre doesn't have to do anything. tamlin (for reasons I guess make sense later? but are ultimately unsatisfying) rescues her from a situation that he put her in by suggesting she come live in prythian. we're told that feyre is good at surviving, but we don't get to see her put that skill to use. we're not shown her thinking on her feet; we're shown her saying 'yes' to a false choice.
tamlin handing feyre a way out makes no sense on a narrative or character level. it also undermines the apparent danger for the rest of the book. tamlin represents how dangerous faeries are: he's literally about to kill her to avenge one of his own. but then he decides not to—not because of her quick-thinking, but just because.
it seems like a small moment, but moving forward, it's hard to take any of the faeries as legitimate threats. not just because we've seen our first example completely undermined, but because it happened seemingly for no reason.
feyre hates her family = unbelievable motivation
purely on a character level, I find feyre's resentment of her family annoying. but who cares? one person's subjective judgement doesn't have any bearing over what should be done at a narrative level.
the problem is that feyre's primary motivation is keeping her family alive. once she's in prythian, all she wants is to return home so she can make sure they're taken care of. but that's hard to believe when we're constantly shown how little she actually cares for them.
time and time again, we're shown her resentment—her sisters are entitled, her father is useless—and yet we're supposed to believe that all she wants is for them to be safe.
in this chapter, sjm doesn't even give her a goodbye with each of her family members. she just has papa archeron tell her:
"You were always too good for here, Feyre. Too good for us, too good for everyone."
???
even a single moment of connection between her and her family would make her motivation feel more real, which would, in turn, propel the plot. it's a massive missed opportunity not to see her saying goodbye to each of her family members.
so that's why I included an extended goodbye in my rewrite. even a small moment of tenderness between each of them helps me understand and believe feyre's motivation as we move into the next sequence.

pspspspsps 4 the infinite asks: 3, 18 n 26 :eyes:
oooo ALRIGHT here goes !!
3. what's your favourite part of his design? why?
honestly a fucking difficult question but i'm reaping what i've sown. it's very close between mask and hair – the mask is so iconic in it's shape, i love the asymmetry and the attention to detail in that the right side is blacked out, likely because he doesn't need to see. it's crisp, it's edgy, it's a moment and a vibe and i love it. sure, if you wanna draw it at funky angles it could be a nuisance, but because it's shapes are so distinct u CAN break it down. and use references baby!
his hair i love because i'm just a sucker for guys – or, in his case, guy who is not a Man but is a boy in a dog way – with long hair. let them have it. please. it suits him so well and you can style it in a lot of different ways even besides the iconic locs !!
18. how do you feel about shadow killing squad jackal? do you headcanon otherwise?
okay this topic is one that i've seen a LOT of differing views on, and i definitely understand the divide on it because shadow's character in general is one that can never really be agreed upon among fans. my own take isn't one i've shared here yet so here it is – i think it depends on circumstance.
i can see it going either way depending on how things actually went down. rather than just asking why would shadow kill squad jackal, i like to ask why wouldn't he? both questions make you think about it from a different angle, i think. i can see him not caring either way; they're willing allies of eggman, but they're not a big deal. they're insignificant, whether that means their lives are unimportant, or not worth the energy to take. i don't think he would do it with outright malicious intent, though he is still an asshole.
i veer more toward he wouldn't, because he doesn't really give a shit and it isn't worth the energy. knocking them unconscious suffices just fine and they don't seem to be as dangerous as villains he's faced in the past. at the same time, i understand how his indifference could go the other way. he's also impulsive, and trained to take out anything in his way – it could be instinctual. my opinion of shadow is that he's neither killing enthusiastic or opposed. he deals with things case by case. he's not a monster, but not against doing what has to be done.
these are incidents from different sources, so take it with a grain of salt, but he extended an offer to metal sonic in archie to turn over a new leaf, though in cases like eggman and tinker, eggman shows much less, if any, promise of potential change, and that's where the line gets drawn.
shadow doesn't know anything about squad jackal and why they're allied with him, but on the basis of just working with eggman, would that be enough? i don't think so personally but, that's just me. again, i see it being more instinctual, a means of completing his mission, if he did. tunnel vision sort of deal, you know?
what happens in my fic, however, is complicated. that's all i'll say on the matter :)
26. what does his self-care look like?
it doesn't. okay jokes aside, i think he's always had a rough time looking after himself, between mental illness and being on the road for years fighting for his survival. he cares about his appearance a lot, but at the same time, it's hard for him to manage it and this really applies after losing his team.
he likes baths over showers, though, and if he had the option he would probably like one with candles, just allowing himself to lay there for a bit. he cares a lot about his hair and it has high priority. comfy clothes on a bad day, music appropriate to his energy levels, cookies and a blanket. he tends to take space and just withdraw to reenergise if he can. i also headcanon him letting his emotions out through art, writing, and being very elaborate and often brutal BUT that's post-war
