Yeah, tbh one part that rlly did make me a bit sad about seulgis solo, aside from the title being a bit lackluster as a song (it needed a little bit more something, I'm not sure what but I def like the bsides especially dead man running or crown soo much more) was that the choreo was disappointing. With the mini bit of it she teased on that live w red velvet I thought it would have a lot of tutting elements like they did w seulrenes naughty but it was the only part of the choreo that stood out to me. The performances are still nice to watch but I can't help thinking what if she had just rlly gone w another choreo like naughty but seulgi-fied to the max without having to worry about adjusting the difficulty so that Irene could keep up (not that she's a bad dancer by any means) , just go absolutely ham and impressive. Like even if the song was lacking I was at least expecting to be wowed by the choreo.

Also visuals of the album jacket are 10x more interesting and fun than the mv. Why didn't they get super into the snow white theme they had going on???? Commit to it !!! Again the doppelganger shot was the best part of that too

🚶🏾‍♀️i wanted to mention how the choreo wasnt really giving but i didnt wanna keep beating this poor subpar debut while she was down. but yeahhhhh i was expecting something..........iconic. like i was so sure seulgis choreo was gonna become something everyone covered considering how gagged we all were over naughty but :/ it didnt even dawn on me how little attention i paid to the choreo until i saw the performance video and was not excited at all to watch it lol. and i've been excited over choreo before! i will say she did eat what was assigned but the assignment was not very bombastic. i did really like the part w the doppelganger with the hand motions. and there's one part where seulgi leans back and does this whole body roll and her isolation during that was insane.

part of me wonders if she got more subdued choreo so she could sing live but iont know soloists are known to lip sync parts when theyre dancing so i feel like no one wouldve minded esp if they choreo was cunt. AND NO WHAT WAS WITH ALL THE PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL BEING SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT WE GOT????????? all that good n evil shit i really thot it was gonna be a new age fairy tale mv but she was really just in a field then walking around with chains 😂😂😂😂 sm ent go to hell w this false advertising

i love your blog and need need NEED to ask you if you have any opinion on this because people were talking abt it on twitter recently. if u don't tho it's fine! just wanna hear your thoughts. someone was talking about moments in kpop that were popular with the ppl but actually shouldn't be because they were designed for the male gaze and the two cbs mentioned were monster by irene&seulgi which, shocked me a bit. but more so the second which was sumni's tail. do you feel like tail stages/mv were designed to appeal mainly to men? genuinely this took me a aback a bit because yeah sure choreography makes sunmi appear extremely attractive and she wears revealing clothes but the power dynamics in the choreo and just in general in the camera movements in her performances during tail always made me think she's actually mocking men more than catering to them? anyways I hope this makes sense. sorry. just read it and immediately thought of u so I came here lol

but besides tail specifically, there is actually something i want to talk about here in regards to how this particular take smacks of an inability to understand basic critical and media analysis theory.

when you say that something shouldn't be enjoyed or engaged with, you imply that there is a should; a 'correct' way to engage or interpret a work. and there is NO correct way to interpret art. a massive problem with social media is that there is a hegemony on moralistic opinions. you have to have a 'good' opinion, you have to like the right things and hate the right things and why. because reasons. because some anonymous icon on the bird app said it was male gazy and therefore that apparently means it's bad. and yea i'm gonna sound like a fucking crank about this but you need to do your own readings. the male gaze is not a code of ethics, it is a theory of media analysis. and theories are tools that are meant to help you better understand the life you live and the ways that you engage with the world. YOU are the one that uses the tool, that makes the choice on when and how and where you use that tool, and also if you take into account the information that that tool provides. it's all about the nuance. unfortunate that the internet went and shot it in the back.

my fave era is really bad boy. i mean the song was fun, the mv too and i really liked irene's styling this era (chef's kiss)

this might be a controversial opinion (or not) but my fave album is 'the reve festival' finale. it's one of the few compilation (technically it is because it gathered songs from the first two parts with a few new songs) albums that succeeded in having bop after bop after bop after- you get what i'm saying

But I do get some of your members will be happy for you but some members will definitely act sweet to you onscreen even if they don’t like you. You may have dating scandals as a way to bring you down somehow like i said a lot of people are jealous of you. You will probably be biased a lot by fans and I’m getting specifically international fans will really love you and you will be a member people love pulling pcs of. Your concept will def be bright I’m getting maybe Stayc, itzy, twice, really anything in the realm of bright whether it’s cute or teen crush. I’m thinking of pink or blue so maybe those are colors that will look good on you maybe it’s hair that’s considered an iconic era for you or your teasers for a comeback will have those colors incorporated and they will go viral like a lot of people may use it as their pfps…whatever it is those two colors will be somehow associated with you. I’m also thinking you will get brand deals for popular designer brands. I feel like Wonyoung and Jennie would be similar to how the general public views you but fans will see you as quite chaotic full of personality and a bit flamboyant, Dahyun and Sunoo comes to mind idk.
