What a beautiful Celtic shawl pin By Natalija at NataliStudio on Etsy. Sometimes understated is just the thing.

for whatever reason instead of a blue rectangle for replacing images while they load I've been getting to witness png's two dimensional interlacing. This is a good thing because I like png's two dimensional interlacing

I saw this image from one of the Dishonored games and I was like “I’m reasonably sure I’ve seen this book before.
To be fair, the strapwork pattern used (which I’ve drawn up an example of) doesn’t look all that uncommon, but the medallion made me think “oh, I know I’ve seen this somewhere before”. I found the image I was looking for and I was like “Look at that! The medallion and filigrees are the same too!”
The main real difference I can see is that the large circular forms at the four edges have something instead of the regular filigree (bolts maybe? It’s hard to tell because of the game asset’s quality).
Either way, it’s pretty cool that the game drew inspiration for some of its decor from real life.
