alright ten of swords babeyyyyyy! this card is the devastating culmination of the last few numbered swords cards. the ten is a card that suggests separation and painful endings. this can, of course, be interpreted in many different ways, and may not always be a bad thing, since sometimes we have to experience endings (even very difficult ones) in order to move forward. in spite of this more positive potential interpretation, the ten of swords is still often seen as a bad omen that might act as a harbinger of utter defeat. I'm always tempted to think about the death card in relation to the ten of swords, since that card too has very dark imagery and associations, and yet is really more about rebirth than it is death. I think a similar interpretation can be found here, where even if it's difficult and painful, sometimes things need to end in order to make space for new beginnings
