Curse of Sexism

How many times have we heard the statement "oh he is such a stud. He bas slept with many women" or "she has a high body count and she is a whore"? Ever wondered why there is a difference in attitude to both genders when they are sexually active? It is because of patriarchy and misogyny. Now personally I, being a demisexual, can never understand hookup culture. But it is ok if 2 consenting adults agree to it. Who am I to stop them? But the way a society demonizes a woman for being sexually active is beyond imagination. Women are allowed to enjoy sex and shouldn't be made to feel bad in any way for that. The misogyny is changed from boomer generation to GenZ. Earlier it was " my wife is bad." Now it is "cum and dump the whore" Not gonna lie I have slut shamed many women in my head too. Honestly I feel good that those words didn't come out of my mouth. I have even slut shamed myself for just the fact that strap of the bra was out. I forgot that it was just a piece of lingerie. Also thank you Mom for making me believe I was seducing men of 35 years at 14. Yeah sure a child can seduce a full grown adult! The recent over turning of Roe vs Wade is the biggest encouragement to slut shaming and also shaming women for their bodily autonomy. Yeah a cluster of cells have greater value than a woman.

With the ongoing sexual frustration of teenage boys there seems to be a growing number of incels. Incels are described as involuntary celibate. Incels are usually part of online forums on reddit, discord , telegram etc. The overall themes of failure and frustration along with anger and hate towards women are the perfect recipe to incels. I mean dating was always biased towards good looking people. But it doesn't mean that avg looking people didn't or don't date. Incels have weird vocabulary of the people -chad and stacy. Chad is a sexually successful young man. He has blonde hair and pulsating muscles. The thing is that it is not restricted to internet forums. Elliot Rodger killed six people and turned the gun on himself in 2014. He is an inspiration to the Incel community.

Earlier I used to think that people have a problem with women being promiscuous as they fear that she might cheat on him. But lesbians are also fetishised. Even though they will never sleep with a man or get sexually attracted to men. Yet a section of straight men do watch lesbian porn. Promiscuity for women is a high risk low award proposition. Women are taught to hate themselves from an early age. We give so many adjectives to women who engage in hookups as insecure and lacking self respect. In India we also have tight gender roles -women cook, clean, wash dishes etc. I think there is nothing wrong with doing the tasks. But it becomes tiring when only the women have to do the task.

Now I know it is a common notion in radical feminist spaces that men benefit from patriarchy. At the expense of sounding like a liberal feminist I am going to say patriarchy affects men too. Men who do not fit the ideal of "strong, tough, earners of society, emotionless, sex hungry" are often deemed worthless. The need to be "manly" is so overhyped. Societal pressure on men to conform to patriarchy not only has men fearing the concept of expressing emotions.

Male rape is not talked about a lot. This is again in accordance with the idea that men love sex in any condition. The joke of " it is dream of every middle class boy to be raped by a woman" is so harmful and pathetic. It is dehumanising to men who have been raped.

Honestly i think patriarchy is a power structure. All men don't hold power. In US be a white cis upper middle class heterosexual man. In India be a Upper Caste, Upper middle class , cis, heterosexual man. With these conditions met you will be able to reap benefits. I was thinking something like this. There can only be a few leaders and there will a lot of followers. There seems to be this idea that is promoted that anyone can be "The Alpha Male". But most likely you will be the one under the thumb of an "Alpha Male." Part of Patriarchy is to not only control women but to control men too.

* The Despotic King that conquers another kingdom and forces all the people to follow him instead.

* The Dictator that rules the country with an iron fist and oppresses anyone that steps out of line or any minorities.

* The Hypocritical Church leader that forces oppressive rules on people but will not always follow them.

* Actual Slave Owners that beat and can potentially kill his male slaves and sell the children they fathered.

* The Bad Boss who treats you badly, underpays you, and can steal your ideas for his benefit.

* The Abusive Father that beats his son, tries to "toughen him up", he is also neglectful and withholds his love from his own son.

All of these men have the power to make the lives of other men a living Hell. Power is easy to abuse. Women clearly suffer under these men too. And sometimes I feel like women and children become punching bags for the powerful abusers and punching bags for men forced into following the abusers. And it sucks how a lot of men can't even see how they are being exploited and manipulated by Patriarchy.

Where’s the Fic? (Sort of a ToTS Update.)

Hi! It’s 4:30am, and far too warm. Which seems like a good time to write an update concerning the current state of me trying to write fanfiction. This will probably get long and rambly, but sometimes it’s nice just to get all the thoughts out there. I’ll try and format it nicely into categories. So let’s start with the big one.

Why hasn’t there been any new ToTS or Other Fic recently?

There are a few reasons. The first and foremost being, with life currently being very stressful, it’s hard to focus my time and energy on fanfiction. Unfortunately fanfic isn’t finding me a new job or sorting my health out, so its a bit low on the list of priorities. However, it isn’t just a matter of not having the time. If that was it, I’d schedule my time between work/place, job hunting/fic. Unfortunately there’s a deeper problem at hand.

How do you fire a rocket without any fuel?

I started writing ToTS in March of 2019: fresh off the hype of rereading all the Ixalan stories, ready for the great thing that was supposed to be War of the Spark. In those days I was managing multiple chapters a week. MTG lore, being a Vorthos, was exciting. We’d had some amazing story-telling, we were still naively optimistic about Gruulfriends, we had that coffee and a book date ahead of us that Ixalan promised.

So I zoomed ahead like the rocket metaphor I’m trying here. And hundreds of thousands of words come easily when you’re fuelled by passion for what you’re writing about. I scoured canon story to check my every detail. I drew diagrams and timelines and planned foreshadowing months in advance. Luckily I still have those plans, because otherwise that rocket would be drifting aimlessly and achieving nothing.

So here we are now, August 2020. The War of the Spark novel, I specially ordered in early from the US, butchered my favourite character. I never read the sequel. I don’t intend to. For a while the fuel that propelled my fic wasn’t passion, it was rage. Rage that these stories and characters that meant so much to me were being treated like this. Rage that it had all unfolded like this. Rage that told me I could and would do better. And it worked. Chapters kept coming. It was negative and made me hate the thing I once loved, but it got fic out my mind and onto AO3.

And yet, these days it feels like the fuel tank has run dry. Being a Vorthos is being eternally disappointed by meagre offerings, inconsistency and any enthusiasm is mostly kept alive by fans wanting it to be better. And at times, I still think I’m one of those fans. But the rest of the time, I can’t help but feel cold indifference. Not rage, certainly not passion, just a cold sense of ‘do I have to keep doing this?’ Do I have to keep delivering something that no longer gives me joy? What will happen if I do stop? I don’t think I can.

I can’t quit Magic

I’m not just talking about my hideously expensive Modern deck, the half-completed commander decks, the horrendous amount of money I spent making cosplays, all of those are material, they can be sold or trashed. I can’t quit MTG because, to put things simply, I would get lonely.

It’s called Magic the Gathering for a reason. And I’ve met many wonderful people by being part of the MTG community on tumblr. By producing fanfiction that got people talking to me. Fanfiction has let me interact with so many people I’d never have got to talk to. Not only does it provide a source of positive feedback and validation amidst the stress of life, but it has also led me to so many people I now consider friends - both offline and online.

With very little chance to play anymore (having burnt out of Arena), my interaction with the MTG community is through creating content a.k.a fic. If I stop creating, would anyone ever interact with me again? If there was no more ToTS, would anyone ever talk to me again? These may seem like stupid questions, but hey, I have them. I’m not a talented enough artist to keep people around that way. It’s also very clear that people prefer fanwork to original work, so me drawing my OCs would likely turn everyone away. I am still drawing and writing, but it’s about original things. The closest thing to mtg fic I’ve written recently is about Niki - my MTG OC. If I quit MTG, would have to leave the discord that inspired me to create him through D&D?

But Dash, you may think. Why don’t you just get another hobby? If it was that easy my unruly ADHD brain would’ve let me already. However my hobbies - drawing, writing, cosplay, crafts, D&D, have all centred around this one fandom. Then why don’t you find a new fandom? You’ve had others in the past. I tried, but nothing has stuck and quite so firmly lodged itself into my brain. I am hyperfixated, there’s no escaping it. I can’t pick up another fandom because there’s no room. Besides, if I found a new fandom, would I lose all the friends I made in this one?

Is there a solution to this? Will there be any fic in the near-future?

Honestly, I don’t know. I have half a chapter of ToTS written. I’m considering wrapping up the current scene and just post a slightly smaller chapter than usual. I’m also considering putting all my fic on a hiatus until that fuel comes back - be it passion or rage. I’m also considering ending ToTS after War of the Spark wraps up, despite all the fun and original things that are meant to happen after. I want to complete it. However the more I force myself, the more I will hate every moment of it.

As for any content for the future - I want to create a comic for Niki with a new take on his backstory. It’ll be slow progress and probably not as high quality as my writing. However creating stuff with original characters is much more fun for me than forcing fanfiction right now. (Even if they exist within an MTG setting.)

I might create some more MTG cats. I might even get back to those lingerie pictures but for now, I’m at the whim of my mood and what energy I have left. Will that energy produce a cat or a comic page? I don’t really know until it happens.

Abi’s had her channel for almost ten years now, starting it when she was still living in Cairo with her family. She’s very proud of it and has garnered a wide audience now. Her content is typically stuff on history and archaeology and also travel videos. Over the past three years now, she has also started doing reaction/commentary videos towards historical media and for the past year and a half, has also began to post videos of her singing songs from historical musicals such as Hamilton, Six, Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812, The Prince of Egypt, et cetera while also singing folk songs from different countries. She’s also gone some historical cosplaying while trying to make most things by hand using the techniques common to that certain time period. Sometimes she has strayed a bit slightly to do content on action-adventure pieces such as the Mummy franchise, the Indiana Jones franchise, the Tomb Raider franchise, and Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Tarzan, and the National Treasure movies. Recently, she has also been trying to give video games a chance. She’s currently playing Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Assassin’s Cree Odyssey, and would love to give the other games in the franchise a chance, along with Tomb Raider and Uncharted.

My inspirations for her channel:

1) When talking about history and archaeology, she would do so in the style of Dael Kingsmill of MonarchsFactory. Video right here.

2) While Abi’s singing voice is still Samantha’s (found here), when it came to her singing videos, she would do so in style of Annapantsu- she is awkward about people watching her sing (minus Traci), so she feels more comfortable using an artist’s fanart (with permission and credit, of course) and an audio of her voice. 3) Abigail has absolutely done a couple of videos like that of Rachel Maksy, Bernadette Banner, and Karolina Żebrowska . You can find those certain videos here, here, here, and here.

4) Her travel videos are most like Flying the Nest, run by Stephen and Jessica Parry-Valentine (I’ve actually spoken with them a few times and they’re so sweet omg). Video right here.

5) There’s been a couple of times in which Abi has had guests on her channel, such as Traci, her family, her friends, some of her idols in the archaeological field, and also her exes, Charity and Arlo. Most of those were Q&A’s, reactions/commentaries to movies or shows or musicals, a few times she’s sang with others, and she’s also done a couple of the stereotypical couples videos with Traci, Arlo, and Charity.

6) She has done videos based on the American Girl Historical Collection. She contains all of the books from all of the girls that have been featured, along with the movies. She secretly wishes to have a daughter one day and to share her love for the collection with her.

Abigail does have an Instagram, a Facebook page and group, a Discord, a Twitch for when she plays Assassin’s Creed, a Twitter, and a TikTok. The Facebook page and Twitter are mainly to give updates and announcements concerning her videos. On her Twitter, she also shares news concerning archaeology, history, and science. The Facebook group, Discord, and Twitch are mainly ways for her to connect with her viewers and to talk with them. Her TikToks typically are about history and features Traci and her cat Hatshepsut a lot. On Instagram, she mainly posts about Traci, Hatshepsut (both the pharaoh and her cat), history, travels, her family and friends, behind-the-scenes for her videos, and she still has her posts containing her exes Charity and Arlo up. She has been asked before as to why she has taken the videos and photos consisting of them down. Abi has admitted that it’s because she sees no point in doing so; Privating and/or deleting them doesn’t change the fact that they’re a part of her past. While she doesn’t love them like that anymore and is completely in love with Traci, she still cares deeply for her exes.

Her style is sort of a modern vintage type, typically getting her clothes and accessories and even household accessories from Modcloth, Unique Vintage, Victorian Trading Company, and a various of thrift and secondhand stores. Many of her accessories are vintage and she takes good care of them. When it comes to lingerie, she gets them from Agent Provocateur. Her style icon is Adaline Bowman from the movie The Age of Adaline, which is one of her favourite movies. BEFORE BEING SHOT

okay, so camilla grew up in newton and is only one of a few children of antonio. mendoza. she’s the closest to her half-sister lu, even though cam grew up with her mother for the longest time. obviously, because her father was always out and about and little cam wasn’t allowed to stay with him in the deseo. but god, she hated her mother and how she wanted cam to become little miss perfect and walk around in flower dressed and pink shoes. she rather liked to wear the old leather jacket her father gave to her after a trip, immediately falling in love with the back print of the diablos - and she knew at that moment, that she wanted to have such a jacket herself one day.

especially because her mother always wanted her to be so perfect, she rebelled against her even more. she started to skip school, drink alcohol and start smoking at a way too young age. even worse, the drugs started, too. and with the age of fourteen, she left her mother without a warning. she just couldn’t be around that woman anymore. she stole some money of her mother’s wardrobe, knowing exactly where she hid the cash, and made it’s way to the deseo. of course, at first, no one let her in. she was a fourteen year old girl after all - and that was no place for her. but she didn’t leave, told the security multiple times that her father helped run this place and that she just wanted to talk to him. she finally wanted to be closer to him. after she waited a whole night out in the cold, she finally met him, totally drunk, but he immediately took her in one long hug, and she had needed that so much.

even though it took some arguing, he finally let her stay in the end. it didn’t take long and she soon was allowed to ride with him on his bike, join the gang to some trips, learn more about the business that was going on inside. she dropped out of school to focus on the diablos, but always still subtle since she wasn’t officially allowed to be a part yet.

as soon as possible, she got her driver’s license and her first own bike and with 21, she finally officially joined the diablos and at first, was responsible for the armory and taking care of it. a simple job, but she loved it more than anything and the diablos soon became her real family.

she had been a loyal member ever since, not once doubting her own gang. she was so dedicated to the gang and put so much heart and blood into it, that it was only a matter of time before the people voted her to become the next president.

she successfully has been working as the president for four years now, and is basically responsible for everyone. while some diablos still have a part-time job or have a proper family, the diablos are her complete life. she spents every second trying to improve the gang, to be there for everyone, to make it seem like home. she does have a good heart, but only to them.

to everyone else, she seems rather cold. she’s tough and has experienced a lot already. she knows how to properly break someone’s nose (or even kill someone), has way too many business contacts in the world and therefore knows her value, isn’t afraid to shoot before she speaks/thinks, and doesn’t hesitate for a second to kick someone out who brought any harm to the gang. she doesn’t let emotion get to her because she’ll only know it make her weak.

AFTER BEING SHOT

it was all a blur to her. since the moment she felt the bullet hit her chest , she didn’t remember what exactly happened . who exactly shot her , just that it was not a familiar face . neither reaper nor diablo . but not like she cared , not like she even wanted to go back after her life turned out to be in more danger than she ever thought it would be .

money buys everything , even a fake death certificate & a news reporter that spills the death of the famous camilla mendoza . she even enjoyed it a little , finally not having a target on her head anymore & being able to just run away . just have time for herself for once .

she quickly grabbed her bags from her apartment at night , not one being able to see her , before she stole a car & made her way to new york . a city she always wanted to visit , where no one would recognize her between million of faces . where she could just try to be herself for once , to start a new life .

but as much she tried to forget her past because it simply turned her angry , especially the fact that she couldn’t seem to trust anyone anymore . even if no reaper or diablo shot her , someone of them easily could have given the order . there was no one , besides the two people she called family , she actually trusted anymore . yet , it was her family & important part in her life was missing . she didn’t feel complete . she missed the danger . the thrill . the action .

so , as much as she hated it , she couldn’t last longer than two months in the big city . she needed to come back , needed to face certain people . right now , she didn’t want to be a part of the diablos’ anymore , yet they were still somehow family to her . she just needed to feel home again --- and to be close to her father and half-sister .

Amelia smacked her alarm’s snooze button at 5AM. She hit it two more times until she forced herself out of bed, put the kettle on, and took a very short shower. Freshly clean (but still wet,) she poured the water into the french press she had prepared the night prior. She stirred the coffee grinds getting a nice aroma, and walked into her bedroom while it brewed.

Today was important to Amelia. She had also prepped a bag the night prior for the flight today to her first erotic hypnosis conference. She got dressed in a comfy bralette, t-shirt, and jeans, and went into the bathroom to attend to her (recently short) haircut and makeup. The timer for the coffee beeped and she smiled, her green eyes sparkled as she finished making her coffee.

Enjoying it, Amelia thought of all the little things you do before a flight. She checked that she had packed her toothbrush and other essentials. She had a few minutes to spare so she popped on her phone and told the discord she was on her way to the airport shortly! The time at this point was close to 6:00AM, so she didn’t expect too many people to be up.

She received a PM from someone she deeply admired (and had actually started talking to recently) a few minutes later. “Vex Resonate: “Have a great flight! :)”

This made Amelia sigh, then smile as she headed out the door. She was flying cross country to CA, and thankfully had a nonstop flight. She put on her headphones and took a “sleeping pill” a file that one of her new hypnokink friends had made for the group. It worked like a dream. Shortly after starting the recording she floated away into space. She woke as the plane was landing, just as the recording suggested.

After letting people know she had landed and the effectiveness of the “sleeping pill” recording, Amelia left the plane to pick up her luggage and head to the hotel. She had tied a rainbow ribbon on her black roller bag to distinguish it from all the others.

Amelia got to the hotel room and placed her bag on the bed. She opened the case. It didn’t look like her stuff. She checked the ID tag, it for sure had her name on it. On the inside she found; a toiletry kit, some makeup, a pair of lace up knee-high boots, lingerie, hosiery, and a silver necklace with a coin labyrinth on it. She also discovered wrapped carefully (in fine tissue paper) a beautiful green dress.

At first Amelia was afraid and confused. She heard her phone make a noise and went to check it. A text message was there.“Vex: Be calm Amelia. Try it on, you deserve to feel great this weekend. Please accept this gift from me. Your other things are safe. Meet me in the hotel bar when ready.” Amelia half-smiled reading this, blinking slowly. Somehow Vex had put her number in Amelia’s phone. Was it inside the recording somehow?

Considering when Vex had time to switch the contents of her bag, Amelia carefully put on the items curated for her. The dress was perfectly tailored to her measurements. The shoes and lingerie felt like they were bespoke. She looked at herself in the full length mirror, suddenly feeling better than she had in a long time, and bit her lip.

Creator Spotlight: Kizunatsudoishi

Miri: Which of your works is the most memorable to you? I don’t necessarily mean favourite or best work, it could be the work that taught you the most making it or that holds a special reason in its creation.

Kizu: Hm, for some reason the sleeping elves!Sefikura popped up in my head. It was certainly one of those that took me weeks to finish. I learned so much about coloring doing that piece. Seph's thighs were thickened with layers of white and purplish white and blueish white and orangeish white because I couldn't get the pale tone right. I even beat myself over it for days. Thank god it turned out... not so bad...?

Miri: Comments on the reblog, or in the tags. Do you have a preference?

Kizu: Comments ANYWHERE. But anyway, from what I've seen, people are less likely to comment on the reblog because they feel like it's rude or something, but if you feel like that, please comment all the craziest thing and reactions in the tags. UwU I dare speak for all of the creators out there that WE LOVE COMMENTS. Especially the squeally over the top ones.

Miri: Who is your favourite character from the FFVII setting? What do you love about them?

Kizu: Aside from the obvious choices (the blond angry smol and the silver-haired mean assholery tol), in terms of characterization (and in-game stat), Cid Highwind is my lowkey favorite. Those moments featuring Cid Highwind is either hilarious or super inspirational. His speeches about his dream, the power of mankind and science, the planet Gaia, the goddamn tea... gosh. Cid Highwind gives the most powerful speeches and the most hilarious profanities.

Miri: Favourite media to work in?

Kizu: I actually have a love hate relationship with it but, pencil and paper.

Miri: Inquiring minds have asked if you have any tips for dealing with art block/slump.

Kizu: Hmmmm. Maybe... try to brainstorm exactly how you want to draw the thing. Come up with keywords that you can search by (aka finding references). Read/watch something visual and may inspire you to draw the thing since references can pop up in those visual media.

If nothing of the above works, force your stupid hand to at least draw *something* (Like, if you draw something that would involve a human, sketch their head first with a circle, and try to expand the face, where the face is facing towards, then expand pose from there with skeletal-ish pose.) If you don't know how poses work then feel free to look it up. At least, learn how to *sketch* poses with stick figures since that will save you from so much pain.

You can also listen to music that put you in certain moods.

Miri: Is there a character/idea you haven’t gotten to yet that you really want to do?

Kizu: I suppose most of the stuff I had always want to doodle *cough* frillysmexykinkydressesandflowyconcubineoutfitsandfancyhairdosforCloud *cough* I have done... to some extent. There's so much more Emperoth x Cloudcubine thing I want to do though... :Q_ I-I have this... constant need of putting Cloud in dresses. He just... looks too gorgeous in dresses. Mmm, Cloud in dresses...

Come to think of it, I kinda want to try doodling something fluffy or... school life-ish too...?

Miri: Any remake thoughts or hopes you’d like to talk about?

Kizu: 1. Have a section of land that looking towards Midgar that can trigger a flashback cutscene of Zack's final stand... and maybe his yellow flower...

2. Keep the W-Item glitch ;D

3. Explorable Midgar, maybe SOLDIER private quarters with snippets of the SOLDIER boys...?

4. Keep Cloud riding a dolphin. And the CPR part.

5. A dressing up montage of Miss Cloud with pink background and hearts flying while everyone ogles "her". (A thing that ACTUALLY HAPPENS in FFRK so I'm looking at you Squeenix you WILL give us a Miss Cloud dressing up montage).

6. We get to Omnislash """Executioner""" (a synonym for half naked) Sephiroth with Miss Cloud. In a purple dress. With a big bow. Wearing perfume. And diamond tiara. Yeap The Great Sephiroth was defeated by all of *that*.

7. Kinda overlap with the above but... maybe an attire option like we can change the party member's clothing (much like FF15). We can have a bunch of Shinra infantrymen and sailors running around in dirt.

8. Steve Burton and Takahiro Sakurai saying "Warrrk!!". If Lightning can say "Kweh" then of course Cloud has to be a chocobo whisperer.

9. After seeing the giant ass Diamond Weapon in Kingsglaives... I actually look forward to the Weapon boss fights.

Miri: Throw a headcanon at us that you’d like to see more of.

Kizu: I don't know... most of the headcanons I enjoy are all from you guys, like Sephiroth being a Scorpio, or he being the one breaking Ifalna and smol Aerith out of Shinra back then, or Cloud being a little shit... Usually I would think more about AUs. If it's an AU then I'd like to see more school life AUs. Listening to Bolbbalgan4 songs makes me think of a Cloud doodling stick figures on Seph's notebook in the library and they're playing footsies under the table ughf.

Miri: Favourite party idea when playing FFVII? They don’t have to actually work, so much as you like the idea of them together as a fighting party.

Kizu: I usually go for the OP team or the most practical so... Cloud Aerith Cid in disc 1 (I usually have Cloud as the healer/tank/everything else XD Aerith as main magic damage bc she is stronk with spells, and Cid). After that the team is Cloud Yuffie and Cid because of Yuffie's morph ability and her agility is stupid. Nothing can hit Yuffie... ever.

Miri: Do you have a favourite/easiest character to draw? Or a character you tend to draw when you need some comforting/relaxing art time?

Kizu: CLOUD.

Drawing Sephiroth, albeit very satisfying for the eyes, is a great burden. That ridiculous man has a too high standard for his face alone. And then there comes that stupid, geographically mountainous plane of a body, and his 84 miles of legs. Not to mention that unbelievable luscious hair. And don't make me rant on those *eyelashes* that stabs through the fabric of space and time itself.

Miri: Anything you’d like to say to the community?

Kizu: I used to be in a too active fandom and it was a nightmare. I used to be in a dead fandom and it was so sad. But then... this FF7 fandom is by some magical blessings, is still an alive submarine after all these years. I know some may have been sour grapes to some other, but the people I found in my little trash can corner, I can say that you guys are one of the greatest creators and people I've ever met. You guys... are the best. UmU

Strippers talk back to the hashtag #NotAStripper

As the artistry of pole dance has moved from the strip fraternity theatre to practise studios and international competitions, polers have filled social media with photographs and videos of impressive, sometimes death-defying acrobatic tricks.

But numerous in the pole dance world dont appreciate its sex manufacture rootsand with an increasing discord between the hobbyists and the pros, the most recent hassle is over the Instagram hashtag #NotAStripper.

‘Grammers have expended the #NotAStripper tag on photos of body glitter and the heaps of singles that stack up after a bartending or serving shift. Mainly, though, the hashtag is employed by pole dancers who want to clarify that their ability to shaking upside-down on a pole with prowess doesnt mean you should ask them for a lap dance.

Actual strippers are taking offensenot only because they feel better adds fuel to the already raging anti-sex worker stigma, but because contemporary pole dance, as teaching in studios of all the countries, is something they invented.

Students and schoolteachers of pole dance who try to distance themselves from our artwork are merely contributing to sex employee stigma, Oregon stripper and activist Elle Stanger told the Daily Dot. It seems silly that somebody would pay to learn a science, while trying to interval themselves from its origins.

Stanger posted a call to arms on Facebook in late December, inviting her fellow strippers to meet her in responding to the piquing hashtag by posting their own photos. Stanger had been using the #YesAStripper label in her own photos for over a year in response to the anti-stripping observations shed noticed in the pole dance community.

Other nude and topless dancers have joined in more recently, spate the #NotAStripper hashtag with their own pole pics taken at work or in the studio. Many invented answer tags related to #yesastripper, like #poledancestripper and #proudstripper.

Melinda Grace, who works at Portlands Spyce gentlemans guild, told the Daily Dot that shes started posting her own pole dance pics with the label #YesAStripper because shes tired of the stigma forever placed on my profession.
