There's nothing more viscerally and irrationality upsetting to me when I 90% agree with a take someone has but there's one bit of the interpretation that I don't agree with and it throws off the vibe of their statement. Because I can use my logical brain to be like "complexity and nuance exists and I can agree vehemently with aspects of their analysis but disagree with some specific one, since while it changes the intonation of the analysis, it does not change the overall thesis". But in the most primal part of my brain it's like Grug not like internal contradiction. Paradox make Grug uncomfortable with self. And it's like what the fuck Grug

watched the musical demon show (don't wanna name it so this post isn't in the tags) at the behest of an IRL friend and i can already tell this is going to be a piece of media where i absolutely cannot stop thinking about it, not because i really love the show as-is, but because it has so many individual components i really like and find incredibly fun or compelling, and i'm so frustrated that it doesn't come together for me
i think the main thing i can say about it as a show, setting aside some of the insensitive choices that were made that i really don't feel qualified to tackle or talk about, is that the entire thing sort of gives off this vibe of someone really excited to show you every single oc they made in high school and college and i very genuinely mean that in both the best and worst ways possible
there are some good hooks for season two though so i will absolutely give them that

totally relate to your post about media tropes but i do want to point out the specific example you gave literally happens in star wars (anakin w/ padme) lmao. like tumblr definitely has its wackass tropes that aren’t actually a trope that happens anywhere but that specific one definitely exists outside of tumblr
Sure sure I’m not saying it never happens and I recognize that I didn’t pick a very wacky one. My point is just that I haven’t consumed something with that trope in it in a very long time (and I never watched the Star Wars prequels).

imagine being so allergic to the concept of love and community and collectivism that you get mad at people for having animal companions. no everyone should be lonely individual like me, the only way you will claw to the top of the ladder is if you abandon the concept of friendship
