saw someone refer to the hybrid as a girl and she/her pronouns im like 😐 hm

im a bit iffy on gendering the hybrid at all, as up until the very end the baby is treated gender neutrally and just called 'child'. I can see some argument for masc terms given that the end vision shown by the baby it uses he/him pronouns and 'king' which COULD be interpreted as the baby choosing those gendered terms for itself.

but uh. otherwise that just feels a bit iffy to me. do whatever you want forever but "ehhhhh"

Lost my original post of this from the other day but I genuinely don't understand how Black Butler discourse ever shifted into the does Sebastian ~really~ like Ciel or is Ciel just dinner line of conversation that is pervasive as it is because Sebastian is the one that has absorbed his whole existence into Ciel's. Sebastian's face is what Ciel wants Sebastian's whole purpose is doing things for Ciel Sebastian's every hell of a butler yes my lord speech is about how he's Ciel's and Ciel is the one going around saying shit like whatever Sebastian is just my pawn 💅

I watched a video last night about SCP Containment Breach and felt excitement about it I havent felt since high school oh god (in a good way)

the agony of marvel retconning pietro to not be a mutant, causing luna to not be an inmutant, basically never including luna in the comics and constantly deaging her so she stays 8-10 while other characters from her generation DO age, then several years later killing kamala khan, immediately resurrecting her, and begin calling her an inhuman/mutant mix and acting like this has never ever ever happened before,,

I’ve been literally disgusted with myself for not working on writing things, while I don’t have the meds that make my brain and whole body work.

I’ve been without those meds for so long that my doctor is like “hey, maybe take those meds for two months and then we’ll test your blood to see if this dose is too low”.

I’ve been hating myself for not doing the things that my lack of meds made literally impossible. It’s hard to think when not medicated. Creativity is a no go. And I have been so angry at myself for not being able to do this thing…

Meanwhile my doctors want me to be on meds for two months to probably be at below-ideal levels of the hormone that makes my body and brain function.

I think it’s very interesting how Renfield/mental health in general are treated. Today we have “he is usually such a well-behaved man, and except his violent fits” which I don’t think is an attitude you’d really see toward Renfield’s particular behavior today. There’s a definite element of infantilization (see: the way they talk about the visitor not taking offense because it’s a madhouse, lots of general little quirks in phrasing) but I think that someone in a psychiatric institution today who attacks an administrator with a knife and draws blood doesn’t get nearly as much understanding, no matter how little they’re in control of their actions. I think today that’d get you a longterm label of being trouble, definitely not someone staff referred to as well-behaved no matter how isolated the incident

I love all of you, but I don’t think you actually understand what uncanny valley is

It’s more like how close can this creature get to appearing human but still doesn’t quite pass

Like imagine you’re talking to someone, and everything seems fine, but…there’s just this odd feeling you can’t shake, like something’s wrong, and the longer you talk to this person, the more wrong it seems and the more freaked out you get, and that’s when you realize it

They haven’t been breathing the entire time the two of you have been talking

Or sometimes they have too many teeth, or they don’t blink, or just something small but shows undeniably that what you’re talking to is not human

If you can immediately tell because there’s a whole bunch of obvious signs they’re not human, it’s not really uncanny valley, I think it’s just supernatural then?

Surprisingly not that into the "uncanny Vash" trend. Bc like while I am an unrepentant monsterfucker & I LOVE when he gets super inhuman in appearance. A lot of these "uncanny vash" things just... don't feel like him. It feels like knock-off horror portrayals slapped onto his face.

For the ones that actually work with what he is, I LOVE it. But the ones that r just trying to make him some unrelated horror caricature... I'm just not into it.

#speculation nation #not main tagging this bc i dont wanna poop on ppl's fun #bc ultimately it's harmless so im not Truly complaining #it just doesnt feel like him much of the time. so im not reblogging them lol #i think he truly has the ability to be uncanny but it manifests more in the ways he moves & the biological oddities of the plants #being a bit physically Off. a bit too long of limbs. maybe some glowing eyes. the second set of lids. the too-sharp teeth of Course.#he is something inhuman masquerading as a human. and that can manifest in a lot of ways #i think my biggest problem with the trend is the ways ppl r pushing their ideas of Uncanny onto him #i saw mention of like vash suddenly Growing Taller. which does not track. aside from the feathers & angel arm #his body is actually quite static. he's able to move in really weird ways (Super Flexible. perhaps even unnaturally so. smth else uncanny)#but he Never changes form. his body is his body. aside from the times it decides to get a lil feathery with it lol #in terms of aus Sure ok the uncanny thing is just a fun thing for people to explore #but im much more interested in exploring the oddities of his physical form as he is in canon #so much potential right there. so much left unsaid. so much to extrapolate from.#im not going to lose interest in canon vash so long as im interested in this manga. and that's a promise.
