Humans are so scared of realising they're animals like all the rest of us, that they have to make up some excuse as to why they're different. Those excuses basically boil down to experiences that are universal to most life and assuming it's exclusive to them. Like no, love and compassion are not uniquely human. Most social animals share those traits. Art and beauty aren't either. Nor is language. Humans are animals like the rest of us. And that's okay. Nature is a beautiful thing, and you are part of it

“Palestinian civil defense discovered hundreds of bodies buried by Israeli forces in a mass grave inside the complex of Khan Younis' Nasser Medical Complex on Saturday.

Rescue workers said they had removed at least 200 bodies as of 12:00 pm local time on Sunday, and they estimated that at least another 200 remained, Middle East Eye reported.

"We found corpses without heads, bodies without skins, and some had their organs stolen," the director-general of the Government Media Office said in a statement shared by Quds News Network.”

i love the doctor as a character because they embody that trope of looking human but under the surface being something completely different that humans have no way of comprehending. they are SO old. just that fact alone makes it impossible for us to imagine what it’s like in their head. like what happens to someone in 900 years of life? there could be mental shortcuts to memories and information that we will never even know are possible, emotions we can’t possibly imagine the depth of, a weariness of consciousness that we can’t fathom. you look human, but you have two hearts and i can never really tell if i’m actually looking into your eyes. you look human, but your skin is too hot and the air around you smells faintly of burning. you look human, but i can’t quite unsee that you’re not.
