if merrill had been in inquisition she would have taken dagna on a tour of the crossroads as a date, and then she would have taught her all about blood magic, and then they would have kissed. this is obviously too powerful for bioware to contemplate so they had to nerf them by giving us morrigan instead.

So without doing a shred of my own research, has futurama been cited one of tlt's influences? Because I'm watching the series start to finish and between Bender being cursed to kill his best friend with Fry grieving and offended it wasn't him who was murdered, and the freaky mind honey episode where Leela kept hallucinating Fry's corpse, I'm just sitting here ticking off plot points like a deranged owl

i was rewatching the hunger games movies recently and i can’t stop thinking about how on the films are excellent adaptations of the books, but also how at times the films completely miss the point of the books

the thing about people becoming fans/ larries on like tiktok or twitter is not that there’s anything wrong with that or that it’s less cool or something, it’s that there are all these people that believe Louis and Harry are together based on a bunch of made up proofs and bizarre reaches, and when they start to see those being debunked or realize they don’t really make sense they begin to think that the reasons other people believe Harry and Louis are together must be fake also, which is extremely irritating and frustrating for people who believe that based on having looked into things for themselves and followed them over longer periods of time and watched things play out in ways that bear out their beliefs. I just think spreading made up proofs to convince people you’re right makes things worse around here

I was watching a video on sigma males because I started watching cr1tikal again and we all he loves those and truth be told I just wanted to see my guy Patty B. but I instead got to see Michael my good friend Michael from the hit show Prison Break from 2010 or something and I did not only get whiplash because who the fuck remembers prison break in 2023 aside from me when I get a vision and start ranting about T-Bag again as a good autistic man with a special interest should but also just the fact of framing Michael as a sigma is FAIR but at the same, is curious like...
Sure, Patrick Bateman has a plethora of mental issues that can be read in many ways, but many of us do interpret him as autistic. Michael is outright so, too.
(sure that's only brought up once in season 1 when Sarah was doing a background check or some shit on him but still.)
So it's like. Are you really a sigma male or are you just a disabled man trying to come to terms with your identity and finding a community for it (and inadvertently falling into the last hole you want to rest in)?

I've gotten myself obsessed with a made up rarepair (Astarion/Abdirak) that requires a miminum of 500 words to explain why it makes sense and at least 350 of the words are a backstory I made up out of thin air for an NPC with <5 minutes of screentime (and the backstory is based on a single sentence + 1 dev note out of all of the dialogue lol)

Me before the scar update: Oswald will never show up in this game
Me after the scar update: *plops down at the head of the table, cracks open my laptop, and pulls up a power point* Here are some odd coincidences that probably mean nothing but I will make everything an Epic Mickey reference if I think hard enough.

When do you think Marcus realizes that he "loves too much"? (lots of love to ya Marcus but you need to work on yourself)
Oof! That *IS* the question, isn't it? I (clearly) love the man, but part of why writing him is so interesting and fun is that he's rather flawed. He needs a therapist.
Speaking canonically, I'd like to think that Marcus did some soul-searching when he was alone and sad in Washington DC, got a therapist, worked on himself a little and got to a space where he's not putting so much pressure on the people he cares about.
I kind of feel like every fic I've written for this man explores that question in different ways. In Born to Run, I absolutely got this man a therapist, he fucking needs it.
In Control, I very much did NOT give this man a therapist and kind of made him worse, to explore what that would look like. (And oof, that was fun, wasn't it? 😈) And thankfully, he found someone who wanted that intensity and excess of emotions and they were able to have a healthy relationship in the end.
I am not a therapist, I'm just a fucked up person who's gone to therapy, but I'm going to say that what Marcus really needs is a healthy way to express all those big emotions and not in a way that's putting a bunch of expectations on others or moving way too fast before his partners are ready. I think the fact that he loves so intensely is a wonderful thing and can very much be a positive if he does it constructively and healthily.
In both fics, I really did be like "This man needs an outlet for his intensity and that outlet is BDSM." 😂
Thank you anon! Love this question, love you, love writing essays on how much I love the sad human disaster man

Several years ago, I learned that every time we access a memory to recall/relive it, that memory is vulnerable to alteration. Our memory is not read-only storage but is editable, and the more often accessed the more likely to have been changed in the recollection.
This information helped me to understand how some people manage to convince themselves of a past that didn't happen or that every one else involved would say happened very differently.
This also makes me think that our most influential memories, be they positive or negative, recalled fondly or relived compulsively, those that we consider to be embedded most deeply in the stone tablets of our personal mythos (that may instead be erasable ink at best), may be the very memories we can least trust to be accurate. How much of that influence then is shaped by the reality of what was experienced and how much by our unacknowledged prejudices, biases, fears, beliefs, desires? How confident should we be in things we "know to be true", and how can we interrogate these beliefs effectively when they're based largely on recollection, either our own or someone else's?
How much control do we have over our own pasts, our own foundational truths? How much responsibility do we abdicate in the belief that the past is static?

the sects are essentially nobility tbh. in md.zs they’re noble families who pass down cultivation methods, general knowledge, and are meant to protect those under their watch and care. but time and time again we see a lot of abuse there. the sects act as their own government in this world. they throw lavish parties, indulge, and point fingers quickly. they seek power and recognition, face is all that matters. so when a wealthy lord or lady comes for aid, they are usually happy to help. but ask a common farmer to cough up the means to afford such help and they tend to get ignored.
i mentioned this to dia, but this is why wangji in particular stands out. he takes on thework the sects wont do, and asks for nothing in return. hanguang.jun, bearer of light, goes where the chaos is. he is a literal super hero to a regular person. and i think the only reason he succeeds in this is due not only to his methods— but also his experience. despite how cruel the world has been, he still protects it.
something i think people dont realize, is that wangji wont inherit much. hes always going to be cared for sure. but he is the second born, so xichen is set take over the sect. and wangji is more than okay with this. none of what he does is for reputation, or to better himself. he does it because he promised to do it, swore to uphold good and fight for justice. and true to his word, lan wangji is doing just that. a little at a time, bit by bit. its so hard to really put into words the kind of selflessness the second jade upholds. it isnt the storybook kind, its not a friendly sort. yes hes violent and exact in how he handles it, but he isnt cruel. he finishes the work and leaves without taking anything as recompense.
i do think that despite the high regard hes held in, the sects see wangji as a tragic failure of sorts. he refuses to fall into line, to obey societal norms. they give him a wide birth, and try to ignore what hes doing. it took a long time, but wangji, born within the most rule bound sect. realized the world is not black and white, the disciplines of his clan and family are not an end all. there is flexibility and understanding there. that he can have freedom, and his beliefs at the same time. his love, and his family can coincide without clashing. and is is, in my opinion one of the best visuals of character growth ive seen in a long time. it feels natural and organic. it doesn't feel forced, or done for any kind of dramaticism.
