“I don't get the Rise fandom (or the TMNT fandom as a whole) sometimes. What I don’t get is when most of its fans see art of Rise Apritello of them hugging, hanging out or just having fun (even if said art has romantic undertones), people are so quick to tag it as “SIBLINGS🥺” or “Dorky pals for life”, seeing it as platonic/sibling coded. However, when the same thing is done with the 4 turtles (having them hug, having fun etc.), even though it’s NOTHING romantic implied, people lose their freaking minds, automatically assuming that any kind of affection or deep love with the brothers is in///cest-coded. So love between two people who aren’t related is cute enough to be seen as siblings, but not the actual siblings because it’s in///cest-coded? What???”

“April didn’t choose to bring Donnie with her to the NWT for accident. There was a reason. But just like the other times, her insecurity didn’t let her to tell him that. Both of them were very insecure to make the next step, but it looks like that once it’s done, the rest is more easy.”      -END
Ages: April, 19 | Donnie, 18

Bonus/Final Page
P.S.: My original idea was to stop in the page 5, but the next day I thought: “Why stopping here?” And the first thing that came to my mind was that scene from Season 1 Episode 21 (Karai’s Vendetta) when this happened: Donnie: “Hey, guys.Guess what April and I have been up to.” [Complete silence] Donnie: “That’s right! Analyzing sewage.” Raph: “Who says you don’t know how to show a girl a good time?” I want to know what Donnie will say now once he returns with his brothers XD And on the other hand, I wanted to draw a scary and intimidating Avatar April lol. Donnie didn’t see that coming at all. And by the way: Do you know how much time I spent just to learn english onomatopoeias? I mean, sounds are always the same, why people have to write them different depending of the country? T.T

Y’all wanna read my Apritello story?
So sometimes when my artistic drive is down, the writing bug will come bite me. I’ve been working on an Apritello story for awhile that currently has three chapters that are up on my Patreon. Eventually I’ll post it publicly, but I want my patrons to have early access. Anyway here’s an excerpt from the first chapter.
It’s kind of angsty.
The summary is, April invites Donnie to join her for a long weekend at the farmhouse, which sounds romantic until you consider that she’s been plagued with visions of his accidental death and is desperate to stop it from happening.
To say there was tension in the air was a drastic understatement. Truthfully, things had been tense for a while. Blame it on cabin fever, or perhaps they were outgrowing their sewer lair, but the brothers had been quick to jump down each other’s throats.
Leo was especially on edge, and not unlike how it had been since they were kids, his mood had set the tone for everyone else. One thing that differed from childhood though, was that he had been butting heads with Donnie, while Raph remained a mostly neutral third party.
There was the knowledge that they were getting older and they all had desires to get out there and live their own lives, and then the realization that doing so wasn’t really possible for them in the world they lived in. They wanted what any young adults would want, but they were mutants.  The world still saw them as freaks. They couldn’t lead normal lives the way they wanted to. They knew this, they had known this all their lives. They had all been on the same page about it. They realized that living their lives in the sewer, at least most of it, was probably in the cards. April had always contested this idea, believing that the world would accept them in time. It’s not like people didn’t know mutants existed, but the turtles weren’t willing to take the risk. It’s not like they couldn’t go out and do things like they always had, but leaving the nest for good just wasn’t feasible. And they were content with this. The sewer was all they’d ever known. They’d always been together and they were happy to always be together.
But like all families, arguments were inevitable. Familiarity breeds contempt, after all. And they were accustom to bickering. But… it was different now. Leo seemed ready to explode at the drop of a pen, Raph never seemed to be able to find enough alone time, Donnie felt like he brought more to the table than the other three combined, and Mikey… sweet Mikey was such an incurable optimist that he sought to find the positive in every situation, but they knew he did this to mask his depression.
If asked what they were arguing about today, the simple answer would be that they were all just getting on each other’s nerves. Donnie couldn’t even remember how the argument started because they fought about trivial things so frequently, but he remembered the thing that Leo said that set him off.
“God, why is it so hard for you to just do your part? Why do we have to pick up your slack?”
Donnie was silent for a moment, almost unsure he’d heard correctly. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me, you never fucking help out with anything!” Leo’s tone implied that there was something else he was upset about that he wasn’t speaking of.
Donnie, by his best effort, kept his voice calm and composed. “I’m sorry, are you referring to three days ago when I didn’t help clean up the disaster in the kitchen because I was literally putting the microwave back together? Or perhaps last week when you left a mess for me to clean up that you all made while I wasn’t even here? And then you got mad when I didn’t?”
Leo seemed to get more aggravated at the mention of Donnie not being there, but continued on. “C’mon man, there are four of us that live here, it’s really not asking too much for everyone to help clean up around here.”
“Dude, I clean up after myself more than anyone. The difference is, when I make a mess, it’s in my lab rather than communal space and-“
“Oh, right, I forgot. The huge space you have that’s your’s. That none of us have.” Leo turned to their other brothers who sat near by. “Hey Raph, other than your tiny bedroom, do you have your own creative space that you can do whatever you want in? Mikey, how about you?”
Raph hadn’t spoken, but seemed invested in the exchange his brothers were having. It was impossible to tell who’s side he was on. Before Mikey could speak, Raph stopped him and said firmly, “Leave us out of this, man.”
“So now your mad at me… because of my lab?”
Leo paused, not making eye contact, before he huffed. “No.” He admitted quietly.
Normally, Donnie was used to these arguments making little or no sense, but Leo seemed genuinely angry and he couldn’t understand why.
“Bro, what is up?” He demanded. “Why are you actually so upset?”
“I just…” Leo started. Donnie could tell there was something he didn’t want to say. Leo crossed his arms and turned away from his brother. “I just want to know… where your priorities are.”
“My priorities?” Donnie was trying not to lose his patience. He had no idea where this was coming from nor where it was going. Which meant one of two things. Either there was something his brother wasn’t telling him, or this was in fact going no where. Like, this had started out a fight about cleaning duties, and now he’s talking about priorities. If Leo did have a point, he wanted him to hurry up and make it because this argument seemed like a waste of time.
“It just…” Leo blew another huff through his nose. “It just seems like… you are… distancing yourself from us, Donnie.”
This statement completely threw Don for a loop. He hadn’t expected that at all. “What in the world are you talking about?” He asked, truly bewildered by the turn in conversation. “Because I don’t want to clean up messes that aren’t mine? Like what the hell-?”
“No, obviously it’s not that. It’s alot of things.” Leo spoke quieter now, not as impassioned.
“Well, I would love to know what those things are, because I am completely lost here.”
“You never want to hang out with us anymore, and when you do, you act like you’d rather be doing anything else-“
Donnie cut him off with a humorless chuckle. “We’re brothers, we all get on each other’s nerves.”
“And I get that, but we do all still live together and we all need to contribute to the household chores, and you’ve just been acting like you are so far above doing any type of housework that doesn’t directly effect you.”
“Well, excuse me Leo, sorry if when it rains and the power get knocked out and I have to go topside by myself in the cold pouring rain to fix the power line, I don’t also want to have to mop up the leak in the kitchen when none of you did anything to help!”
“Okay, you keep bring up specific instances, but I’m talking about in general-“
“No, you’re talking alot of nonsense is what you’re doing!” Donnie’s lack of patience was starting to show. “First you’re mad that you think I don’t clean enough, then you’re mad that I have a lab and you don’t? Then you say I’m distancing myself from you all…?” Donnie stood and made a move like he was going to walk away. “If you have something to say, Leo, you better just say it because this whole conversation seems like a waste of time to me. It’s late and I’m tired, so make your point, or I’m going to bed.”
“Are you distancing yourself from us because of April?”
Donnie had already started walking away, as he didn’t expect Leo to actually have a point, so he was halted to a standstill at his words. “What does she have to do with anything?”
Leo looked away again, like he didn’t actually want to have this conversation. After a moment, he sighed and continued without making eye contact. “It just seems like… I mean… I thought we were all on the same page here. We’ve had this discussion, a long time ago. We aren’t…. Human. We’re getting older and it makes sense that we’d want to start living our own lives, but… we can’t. Not really. The world doesn’t accept us, so staying down here is just how it has to be. I thought we had agreed on that. That no matter what the world thought of us, no matter that we can’t lead normal lives, at least we all had each other. But… now it seems like you have other plans, Donnie.”
He finally looked at his brother and Donnie could see the emotions in his eyes. Nothing of what he said had been new information, of course. Donnie knew, painfully well, that the world saw them as freaks and being “normal” was not a luxury they’d ever be able to have. Alot of their friends were at the point where they were starting to branch off, which didn’t help. Karai and Shinigami were currently back in Japan. It was just a visit, but the kind of visit that lasted for a month or two. Casey had gotten a hockey scholarship for a different school than the one April attended. He was trying to go pro, so he poured all his time and attention into practicing. He still came around, but not like he used to. Mona Lisa had left Earth awhile ago, also with promise to return, but they hadn’t heard from her in a few weeks. They were sure it was just a new mission she had, but that didn’t make Raph feel any better. April was the only one who still came around all the time. With most of their enemies gone, everyone was moving on and it felt like the world didn’t need them anymore.
The pain in Leo’s voice would’ve normal made Donnie want to hug him, but it was the accusation that he couldn’t get over.
“Leo…” He gestured non threateningly with his hands. “Why are you acting like I’m not literally living down here in the sewers right along with you? And I still don’t see what April has to do with anything-”
“Okay, I’m going to jump in here.” Raph said unexpectedly. “Look, Dude, I know we don’t… we don’t say it enough but… we would be up schitts creek without a paddle without you.” He crossed the room to give Leo a lighthearted punch in the arm. “Wouldn’t we, Leo?”
“…Yeah.”
“So because of that, the idea of you leaving is…. It’s scary.” Raph admitted. He was going to say something else, but Donnie interrupted.
“I’m not going anywhere! What in the actually hell are you guys talking about?!”
Leo rolled his eyes, apparently getting annoyed again. “Don, can we please stop pretending like you’re not going to marry April and then move in with her?”
Donnie froze. To say they touched a nerve was an understatement. April was his best friend, but truthfully, it was very painful to be her friend sometimes. His feelings for her were still just as intense as ever, but for different reason now. In his youth, he’d maintained a kind of innocent hopefulness that they would someday be together, and he never even really thought of the details of how. He knew, even back then, that it wasn’t that simple and when he really thought about it, nothing about it made sense. Which is why he didn’t think about it. Now though, after some soul searching and dropping into a deep depression which he was starting to get better from, he’d resigned himself to the reality that she would never be with him. He’d accepted it, and told himself that it was enough to just be her friend. But the truth was, that pain never went away.  They had such a close friendship, they had developed such a level of comfort with each other, but he knew it would never be enough. The idea of never seeing her again was unbearable, but to be so close to her, knowing that it was as close as he would ever get… it was torture. He didn’t care though, he just couldn’t let her go.
What really hurt was when she would talk about the next stage in her life. She was in school now, but with her grades and what she was studying, she could go anywhere. She wanted to travel, she spoke of it often. She never made any committal remarks about moving away, other than when she talked about the farmhouse and saying how expensive it is to live in the city. Her dad had signed the property over to her for tax reasons, and she would’ve inherited it anyway. She wanted to renovate it.
He was only vaguely aware that Raph and Leo were still talking.
“It’s not like we’re mad at you for finding love, that’s not it at all!” Raph was saying, obviously more concerned than Leo about ruffling his brother’s feathers. “It’s just, we need to be realistic about what would happen if you weren’t here.”
“Yeah, and the reality is, frankly, I think we all feel left behind by our friends, but we didn’t think  our clan would be breaking up as well!” Leo threw his hands up, finally letting his true feelings out. “I mean, all we have is each other, we’re the last of the Hamato clan! I can’t let this clan die, I just can’t.”
“Why do you guys feel the need to do that?”
They stopped, taken aback by how low and serious Donnie’s voice was. He was done barking, he looked ready to bite.
“Do what?”
Donnie’s chest felt tight and he had to taken in a sharp breath through his nose to keep his cool. “Why do you guys feel the need to not only remind me of my unrequited feelings for my… our  best friend… but now, you’re holding it against me?”
Raph looked concerned at first, but then sighed. “Donnie, c’mon, don’t act like you wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to get out of here. April isn’t going to stay in New York forever.”
The statement, while probably true, hurt to hear. “What does that have to do with me?” He said, quieter this time. “I can’t help what April does.”
“Dude, she is literally planning her future with you in it. Have you not noticed that?” Leo nearly screamed. “You have the opportunity to get out of here and do something with your life, and we’ll be-“
“No she’s not!” Donnie shouted back. “Are you guys smoking crack or something? Don’t say that shit to me! April doesn’t…” He paused, his words getting caught in his throat. “April doesn’t want me. I thought we’d been over this.”
Mikey, who hadn’t yet spoke, immediately picked up on how much pain Donnie was in. “Hey guys, let’s just drop it, yeah?”
Leo pressed on as if his youngest brother hadn’t spoken. “Maybe she didn’t five years ago, but she sure as shit does now.” He didn’t seem bothered by Donnie visible cringe. “I mean, dude, you’ve spent the night, alone at her house.”
“So has Mikey. And Raph once, I think.” Donnie said quietly, and Raph nodded in confirmation. “And she’s spent the night here a billion times, that doesn’t mean anything.”
“Mikey and Raph didn’t sleep in her bed.” Leo said accusingly.
“I did.”
They all paused and turned to the youngest brother. Raph spoke. “You did?”
“Every time I go over there, I sleep in her bed.” Mikey said matter-o-factly. “Whenever… whenever I’m sad, she let’s me come over and… she’ll listen. She doesn’t try to offer solutions, she doesn’t try and tell me things to make me feel better, she just… listens. And that’s what helps me the most. Then we watch funny videos.”
None of them commented at first. They all knew Mikey struggled with depression, but he rarely, if ever, talked about it. They all had told him at some point that they were there if he needed to talk, but he never came to any of them. One might of thought that hearing that his brother shared a bed with April might make Donnie jealous, but quite the opposite, it made him very happy and appreciative to hear about it. It made sense that Mikey would be more comfortable talking to April than to any of them, and to know that she had been there for him was comforting. Donnie wanted that for his brother.
“See?” He said finally, more to Leo than anyone else. “April… she’s there for all of us. She cares about all of us… I’m not special.”
“Donnie, don’t say that.” Mikey offered and rose from his seat to place a hand on his brother’s shoulder. Donnie placed his own hand over Mikey’s and squeezed it, staring at the floor.  “She cares about you the most. More than you know.”
“Mikey, please, please don’t.” He said through his teeth. “I can’t… I can’t even believe we’re having this conversation right now. You know how long it took me to accept the fact that I was kidding myself by thinking there could ever be something between us? Of course you guys know, which is why it is so baffling to me that you feel the need to do this.”
“So if April wanted you to move away with her, you wouldn’t do it?”
Raph punched Leo in the arm again. It was a strange thing, to see Raph scold Leo for being insensitive. Donnie had had enough though.
“I’m out of here.” He turned on his heel and heading towards the turnstiles.
...............
Yes, it’s NSFW, of course it is.

I really want to see more of Leorai in the Problem Child verse (like how the marriage proposal went. I've always been curious about it since I read the drabble where April helped Leo getting ready!) or Leosagi in the Fake Engagement AU (how their first date went, maybe?), if you don't mind. Thank you!
aaaa im always down to write more for one of my aus, thank u

If anyone’s the walking embodiment of everything-not-Chris-Bradford, it’s probably Usagi Miyamoto. He’s the coolest, most polished, most refined person Raphael has ever seen walk up his dirt driveway.
“He’s here!” Mikey hollers over his shoulder into the rest of the house, and Raphael watches Leonardo bury his face in his hands at the immediate response of thundering feet through the parlor and down the stairs. “You guys hurry up he’s coming up to the porch oh my god.”
Even father is peering over their heads out the front window. “Go and greet your guest, Leonardo,” he says mildly. The only thing giving away his amusement is the bright gleam in his eyes. Leonardo looks happy to escape them.
“Wow,” April says, “Leo has good taste. That must run in the family.”
She leans her head on Donatello’s shoulder sweetly as she says it, but her smirk is anything but. Casey reaches over to slap her a high-five, and Woody meets Raph’s deadpan expression with a crooked grin.
“She ain’t wrong, amigo. If anything, Usagi came a long way just to see him. Even after Leo warned him about us.” Which Leo did, over the phone, red-faced and flustered, three days before Usagi’s arrival during Christmas break, while his siblings and newly adopted siblings cat-called and jeered good-naturedly at him from all sides. “That’s pure devotion.”
“Dudes, look,” Mikey whispers. “Usagi brought him something.”
It looks like a book, one just barely bigger than his hand, and from the only clear glance Raph gets at the cover it’s not written in English. But Leo steps closer eagerly, and they bow their heads together with matching smiles while their breath mists and mingles in the cold December air.
Usagi, with his neat button down and sweater vest and expensive-looking jacket and reserved mannerisms – standing on their worn, wheezing wooden veranda in the middle of a snowy South Dakota country winter – almost looks really out of place.
Almost, but not quite – because there’s quiet adoration in his face for the whole world to see, standing there next to Leo; watching him talk about whatever little book they’re sharing, eyes bright in a cold-flushed face, as though there’s nothing more interesting to look at for miles.
And just like that, it’s as though their little world shifts to include him. With all the other extreme personalities that have found a way to fit into their family, Raphael doesn’t think Usagi will have a hard time creating his own niche.
“C’mon,” April says abruptly, throwing an arm around Raphael’s shoulders and tugging Casey from the window by the back of his hoodie. “We left the movie playing. Those two will catch up eventually.”
They do, eventually. Flushed from more than cold, Leo dusts snow off his shoulders and says, “Everyone, this is Usagi. Please try not to be yourselves at him too loudly? And maybe save the torment for tomorrow? He’s had a long drive.”
He’s nervous. It’s kind of adorable. But before anyone else has a chance to say anything, Mikey pats the seat next to him on the sofa and says, “Pull up some blanket, dude,” with a kind, disarming smile.
Usagi softens for him almost immediately, looking entire years younger, and clambers into the spot between him and Woody with a crooked grin at their playful jostling.
Leo takes a seat on the floor next to April, leaning his back against Usagi’s legs. Usagi reaches down unthinkingly to push gentle fingers through his hair.
Donatello and Casey catch each other’s eyes and have to quickly look away again, shoulders trembling with repressed laughter. Similarly, Raphael finds himself grinning at nothing in particular as Mikey does his best to catch Usagi up on the majority of the movie that he’s missed and Leo cradles a little book in careful hands.
“Could’ve been worse,” Casey says later on, when everyone’s going to bed. “But I don’t think it could’ve been any better.”
Raphael pauses on the stairs, watching Leo climb up to sit beside his boyfriend on the newly vacated sofa. They’re talking in soft voices in the warmly lit living room, finally alone together at close to four in the morning.
They sound tired and happy.
“Yeah,” Raphael says, with a fondness he would fight before he would admit to. “Could have been worse.”

My Top 10 (Current) Favorite Ships
Happy Valentines Day everyone! I am once again single and have still never so much as held hands with another person! GO ME AND HOW MUCH I SUCK AT LOVE! HAHA... wow I just made myself sad. But hey, just because my love life sucks doesn’t mean that I can’t celebrate it. So to celebrate the holidays, I am going to talk about my Top 10 Favorite Ships... at the current time anyways.
I have a... complicated relationship with ships. I don’t like getting into them much. I have several, don’t get me wrong, but they’re normally either canon ones or ones teased hard enough. But because of shipping wars and stuff, shipping has become a tainted subject for me. The A:TLA and Voltron fandoms alone have made me concerned about creators personal safety cause how dare these two specific characters not bang. But this isn’t about that, this is about the ships I have enjoyed. Ones I grew up on, ones I got into recently, and ones that have stuck with me throughout the highs and lows. Which can perfectly describe true love, sticking together through everything throughout the good and the bad.
So without further ado, let us begin!
#10. Tommy Oliver and Kimberly Hart (MMPR)
Tumblr media
Even before I knew what shipping was, I loved these two. Like a lot of 90′s kids, I grew up on Power Rangers, and I still keep up with it form time to time. Even with my faded childhood memories (MMPR came out when I was like... six months old), I remember adoring these two. No specific reasons why, I just remember seeing them to all the stuff that even as a kid, I knew that couples did. GO on dates, give gifts, kiss each other, all that cute stuff. They were happy together and while the characters are kinda bland, their chemistry worked really well. Even now as an adult, as cheesy as the original show was, I still squeel whenever I see Tommy and Kimberly just talking or kissing. It was just sweet, and I loved them... even if after Tommy became the leader, Kim fell into damsel in distress mode more and more, but hey she still had her awesome moments.
It was also the first ship I had that got royally screwed up by the writers! Kim left the show because her actress wanted to quit, which is fair enough and it was handled very well. What wasn't handled well was in the Zeo season, they had Kim send a Dear John letter and break up with Tommy off-screen cause she found another guy. Why? To That Tommy can hook up with the current Pink Rangers. Now I have nothing against Cat, she was a perfectly fine character... bUT THIS WAS STUPID. No build-up, it’s done out of nowhere off-screen, it caused a rushed/forced romance that no one wanted, and considering Tommy appeared in the future and was single, it went NOWHERE. If they wanted a romance, they had plenty of other options. This was a HUGE middle finger to everyone who cared about the characters imo, and I am still bitter about it. In my mind years later, Tommy and Kim hooked up again and IDC what that one Christmas episode said. That is my headcanon, and I am sticking to it until I die.
So yeah, Tommy and Kimberly. My very first ship and it still holds a special place in my heart. Couldn’t make this list and not mention it.
#9. Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable (Kim Possible)
Tommy/Kimberly was my first ship... but as a little kid, I wasn't that invested in it. I just saw them do cute couple stuff and found it cute. But Kim and Ron? I watched Kim Possible since the day it premiered. I got to watch their relationship form beginning to end. I imagine that most have seen KP, but for those who don’t, Kim is a spy why can do anything while Ron is her buffon best friend/sidekick. Kim is confident, strong, and popular while Ron is goofy, easily scared, and very clumsy. But Ron is also more grounded to reality and capable of normal things like working in fast food or cooking, while Kim constantly stresses over things like romance and at accomplishing everything. Two very different people, yet they complete each other. Kim can get Ron to stand up for himself, and Ron can bring Kim down back to earth. It’s really funny when we see how they met, where Kim was very insecure and Ron stood up for her, and it was that act that provoked Kim to fight back.
Throughout the series, they bicker a lot but are there for each other. Ron helps Kim on her missions despite his incompetence, and Kim appreciates him for that. Ron supports Kim through situations like talking to a boy, even if he doesn't necessarily get what she sees in them. There’s always been this underlying theme that they might have feelings for each other with things like A Sitch in TIme and the episode Emotion Sickness really emphasizing their relationship/potential feelings. It finally came to a head in So the Drama where Ron fully realized his feelings when Kim got a ‘perfect’ boyfriend. It has Kim stressing over prom and not wanting to go with he r’just a friend’ Ron, Ron feeling alone cause Kim barley pays him attention in a way that’s sympathetic and not asshole-ish, and it ends with Ron helping Kim back up at her lowest point, Kim realizing how Ron had always been there, and... well look at the screencap I used to see how it ended.
Kim and Ron complete each other. They bring out the best in each other and bring them back down when they go too far. They bicker, but they also support each other, even if they don’t always like what the other is doing. We get to see them together at their best and their worst, and it ends on a very satisfying note... and then S4 happened, but meh. It’s still a great ship with two really good characters, and ho boy do i still love it.
#8. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste + all other subsequent combos (Miraculous Ladybug)
Tumblr media
Probably no surprise to my followers that this is on here... but some may raise a brow that it’s only at eight. To put it simply, with how the show has been going as of late, I have a LOOOOT of issues with it right now. But I want to use this to praise ships I like, not break them down so I’ll save that for another day.
This one is cute. Marinette is a good-hearted girl who has a huge crush on Adrien, while Adrien is in love with Mari’s superhero identity Ladybug. And with his hero identity of Cat Noir, we have one of the most insane love triangles in history. Adrinette, Maricat, Ladynoir, Ladrien, you get so many flavors of ships with just these two people! My favorite version is Ladrien since it’s the most natural imo and the one with equal pining, but they’re all the same two people so IDT it matters.
The show is about these two’s relationship. That is the heart of the show. Again, there are problems that I’m not going to go into, but overall I like them together. Marinette can get a little... too into her crush, but we do see that her feelings are genuine and it’s because Adrien showed her some kindness. While Adrien doesn't know that Mari is Ladybug, his feelings for Ladybug are because of her confidence and strength, which he starts to see in Mari too. This is the longest Slow Burn story ever and tbh, I want them to just go ahead and get on with it. But hey, I will find them cute and I like their interactions, so there’s that~
So of course a TMNT ship was going to end up on here. Now I almost put Apritello on here... but nowadays after all the recent stuff in the news, it’s... a little hard to look back on. So I tried to think of someone else, and while I considered Ramona... I decided to go with this:
#7. Hamato Yoshi/Master Splinter and Tang-Shen (TMNT 2012)
Tumblr media
One episode.
The show had one episode to show these two’s relationship. Shen had been mentioned in the past, but this was the one and only time we’d get to see her. And OMG, did they pull it off perfectly.
They sold me on this romance in a single episode. Yoshi is a loving husband, but also tied to his fmaily loyalties even if it contradicts what Shen wants. Shen wants a happy life with her husband and child, but has to put up with Yoshi’s indecisiveness and she’s understandably fed up. They do a very good job of showing Shen as a strong-willed woman whose first priority is her daughter but that she does love Yoshi and is understanding. Yoshi is a very flawed person, but he does try to make it work and his love for his wife and daughter are very clear. It’s not perfect, no marriage is. But that love is so clear, and you can feel it every second that Tale of the Yokai plays.
TMNT 2012 has received many critiques in how it handled romance. It went too quick, the girls were reverted to just love interests, the boys are creepers, plenty of things. And they are understandable. But they clearly recognized that if they wanted this episode to leave the impact that they wanted, they had to make YOshi and Shen’s relationship strong. And they did. From beginning to end, you feel for both of them. Shen isn’t just some woman that existed for backstory, she had a personality and independence, which makes you care for her and about her relationship with Yoshi. And therefore, even though you know how it’s going to end, when Shen inevitably gets killed and you hear Yoshi just sob in despair, you’re sobbing right along with him.
So yeah, I love these two. It’s tragic, but beautifully done. I love it~
#6. Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell (FMA: Brotherhood)
Tumblr media
For the record, I am specifically talking about the Brotherhood version, not the 2003 version where their relationship went nowhere.
Okay, Ed and Winry. God I LOOOVE them. I know that Roy/Hawkeye is the favorite... but most of their relationship is left implied and open-ended with no actual ‘I love you’ or anything. So even if it was obvious what Arakawa was saying, I... felt like there wasn’t enough to make me care about them as a ship. Not the case with these two!
Their relationship is just so sweet. They’re childhood friends who both go through crap. Winry lost her parents at a young age, and Ed and Al’s mother died of illness and then the alchemy stuff happened and.. yeah. Throughout it all, Winry supported Ed and Al, helping Ed with his automail even when he keeps breaking t and supporting him through his quest to restore his and Al’s bodies. Throughout the series, Ed tries to support and protect Winry, especially when she tries to kill her parents killer and he talks her down. Overtime, they start recognizing their feelings and it was funny, cute, and after all the Hell everyne goes through, something that they deserved.
The ending to Brotherhood, with Ed’s dorky proposal, is still one of the most heartwarming moments in anime period. Ed got the happy ending that he earned, Winry got to be with the boy that she supported through Hell and back, and it felt natural and super satisfying. It promised a happy future for everyone, and like everyone had truly earned their happy ending. We had gotten to see these two together, through both the good and bad, and how far they were willing to go for each other and their well-being. It’s just a super sweet romance, and I thank Brotherhood for existing so that we could have it.
I REALLY wish that I had more same-sex ships on here. But many of the more popular ones either are fetishisized, the actual work never had that intention, or the fandom got so rabid over it that it killed any potential enjoyment for me (looking at you Voltron). Doesn't help that in animation, there’s so few same-sex couples even if stuff like Steven Universe has been helping. But... I was able to think of one that I liked.
#5. Avatar Korra and Asami Sato (The Legend of Korra)
Tumblr media
YOu have NO IDEA how happy I was when this became canon. Okay yes, I know that it wans’t said in the show, but Bryke confirmed it and explained why they couldn’t do anything more explict (Nick didn’t want to anger international audiences). As such, I am forgiving of it and still happy that it’s a thing.
While I liked The Legend of Korra (more than A:TLA even if it is the better show), they... sucked at romances. Dear God everything they did with Mako in S1 and 2, I do NOT even want to think over it. Let sput it this way, I got tired of the live triangle so much that I started crackshipping Korra and Asami together because they deserved SOMETHING happy. When S3 had them getting closer, I liked it as I liked seeing two girls just be friends and not over a boy... but I didn’t see it as shippy since I thought that there was no way that Nickelodoen would allow it, plus after the previous mess I didn’t want them to touch romance EVERY again with this series.
Then the S3 finale and start of S4 happened... and I seriously started wondering. Asami was the one specifically reaching out to and helping Korra after what the Red Lotus did. Asami was the only one that Korra tried to reach out to after she went home. They both seemed very happy to see each other again, and much of S4 is focuse don them together as well as the previous one. And, of course, the series ended specifically with them, just as A:TLA specifically ended with Aang and Katata. Like... when Korra suggsted jus tthe two of them went away for awhile and them just looking into each others eyes... yeah, it was obvious what they were trying to do. And I was sold.
I love these two together. Even if it started sour int he beginning, the two grew into close friends as things went on. They were supportive, protective, and caring towards one another at their best and worst moments. They’re booth strong young women who play a huge part in the world and can take care of themselves. Korra may be more tomboyish and Asami feminine, but they learn to respect each other and that slowly shifted into friendship, and ended with two former ‘rivals’ (it was pretty one-sided on Korra’s part tbf) over Mako becoming lovers. For what they were able to do, I thinkt hat Bryke did a good job, and I still love these two to this day.
Alright, I have to put a Disney Princess ship in here. But of course which one to pick? There’s Ariel/Eric, Tiana/Naveen, Aladdin/Jasmine, plenty to choose from. Since Mulan is my favorite, you’d think I’d go with her and Shang... but that really doesn't play a huge part in the movie imo. I did some thinking... and I finally made a conclusion.
#4. Rapunzel and Eugene (Tangled franchise)
Tumblr media
Words cannot describe how much I love them. I’ll even go ahead and say it, they are THE best developed couple in any Disney film. Why?
In the original film, they play off each other well. Rapunzel is a naive girl who wants to see the lanterns, Flynn is a smug thief who bolsters himself up. Rapunzel is idealistic and positive, Flynn is sarcastic and more grounded to reality. They’re interactions in the beginning, such as Rapunzel freaking out and Flynn just looking stoic throughout is hilarious. But the movie shows has them grow to understand each other and learn form each other. Rapunzel becomes braver and more independent, while Flynn becomes more selfless and honest, even going back to being Eugene. They both are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for each other’s happiness, their love for each other shining brighter than the sun. THat love saves them both, and that alone is just beautifully done int he film.
Then the series happened, and it became better. Eugene is ready to take the next step, but Rapunzel is scared to and then her hair becomes magic again. Eugene? He accept sit. He’s willing to wait for however long it takes because he loves Rapunzel, and he’ll support her through everything. Even in the series, they both go out of their way for each other and try to support each other in any way that they can. There’s the occasional argument/disagreement, as with any couple, but it’s never devolves into sitcom-esque antics where you wonder why the hell they’re still together. At the end of the day, they are there for one another. Int he S2 premiere, Rapunzel goes to Hell and back to save Eugene form a forced marriage while Eugene makes it clear that he loves her and only her. It’s just SO GOOD to see a couple in a modern cartoon that I like together. Now since Happily Ever After exists, we know that they’ll get married eventually, but I can wait for the show to get there. I love seeing them, and God I aspire to have a romance like theirs one day.
#3. Jaune Arc and Pyrrha Nikos (RWBY)
Tumblr media
TIME FOR ONE OF THOSE TRAGIC SHIPS AGAIN
God this ship... THIS SHIP. This was probably THE biggest ship (that isn’t Bumblebee) during RWBY’s early days. Jaune is a loser who forged his way into Beacon and feels like a constant failure... and his lack of fighting skill doesn’t help. As such, he ends up attracting the attention of Pyrrha, a well known and tainted fighter who helps him start to grow out of the kindness of her heart. It became clear that Pyrrha was growing feelings for Jaune... but Jaune was oblivious and crushing on another girl. Despite this, Jaune respected and cared for Pyrrha as he started to learn to recognize others feelings and during a school dance, Pyrrha expressed how Jaune not knowing of her fame and talking to her like a normal person is what attracted her to him. He didn’t treat her like a celebrity who was above anyone’s expectations, but just as some other girl, and that was what she wanted more than anything. And it ended with Jaune asking her... and wearing a dress. It makes sense in context.
Their relation was mutually supportive and provided growth for both of them. Jaune grew into not just a better fighter, but a better person as Pyrrha taught him to be more considerate and to recognize others feelings outside his own. Pyrrha had someone who made her feel normal and accepted as she pursued her goals of being a Huntress to help people. Which resulted in V3 when the Maiden offer comes, and for Pyrrha makes her doubtful and scared of her fate. She can’t tell Jaune, but he realizes that something is wrong and he tries to provide comfort, even telling her that she was the first and only person to believe in him, even over his own family. While it sadly ended badly when Pyrrha’s fears make her hurt him on accident and Jaune feeling like he messed up, it still really showed how much their relationship had grown, and after the Battle for Beacon commenced, Jaune comforted Pyrrha and got her back onto her feet.
But of course, as we know, Pyrrha ended up being killed... but not before kissing Jaune before launching him to safety. It left Jaune not only losing his friend and mentor, but realizing what Pyrrha’s true feelings were as well as recognizing his own. As we see, he struggles with this. How his closest friend lost her life and how much pains he was really in, how he now has to pick up the pieces as he gets lead into something much larger than anyone thought, and having to accept that Pyrhha knew fully well that she wasn't coming back. Thankfully, by V6, he came to realize that Pyrrha did what she did because she was a Huntress and regained his will to continue on, thanking her for making him a better person.
Arkos, to this day, makes me cry if I just so much as think about the end of V3. The two’s relationship was super sweet, Jaune’s idiocy throughout aside, and it was just nice to see these two grow from each other. It’s sad that Pyrrha died, but she went out doing what was right, and Jaune came out as a better person who will keep living his life. If he finds love again, I’m okay with that and it’ll show how he’s moving on as Pyrrha would want him to. But no one is ever going to forget Arkos, and for what we had of it, I’ll always cherish it.
#2. Dexter Grif and Richard ‘D*ck’ Simmons (Red vs Blue)
Tumblr media
Okay, we all knew that this was going to be on here. It’s the ship I’m currently most focused on, and even the first I think that I gave a shipping tag to. I have talked about them multiple times. IDK if there’s anything new that I can add because I’ve said just about everything. But I guess in the spirit of things, I’ll go over it again.
This ship has broken every issue with shipping I’ve ever had. I normally don’t ship non-canon pairs, but Dear God I love them. I don’t normally seems fandoms use them just to have hot boy/boy stuff and I have NEVER seen any shipping wars concerning it that turned me off. In fact, fandom is what got me into this ship. When I binged it, I just saw them as two guys who love to hate each other... but the fandom did a really good job in convincing me that they were in love. S15 helped with that with how Simmons reacted to Grif quitting, and Grif clearly missing Simmons more than anyone and even leaving him out when he says he hates everyone later. But since until then the writers seemed uninterested in developing Red Team, I had to turn to fanficiton for it. And many gave them so much depth and their relationship as a result felt so much stronger and meaningful to me. This is the very rare time where fandom concerted me.
These guys are assholes. Grif is a lazy jerk, and Simmons is a kissassing rule-follower. Yet they compliment each other perfectly. They argue and bicker frequently, but it feels so natural and it just... works. And overtime, we see their relationship go from just kinda being stuck together to being actual friends. S16 really showed how much healthier and positive it was as the two matured, Simmons becoming more independent and Grif starting to actually try and work through stuff. Their characters got stronger, and as such theyre bond got stronger. Even if that doesn't necessarily have a spotlight put on it, form just their interactions, you can just see it.
I cannot imagine these two without each other, at least for an extended period. They work great as individual characters, but are even better when together. They balance each other. They, in their weird way, support each other. They have been through nearly EVERYTHING in the series together and they’d absolutely do anything to protect each other. They may suck at expressing all of that, but it’s okay. We all know. I love them, and I just hope that RT will allow it to be canon one of these days... I’ll wait~
Honorable Mentions
Sakura Kinomoto/Syaoran Li (Cardcaptor Sakura)
Greg Universe/Rose (Steven Universe)
Ichigo Kurosaki/Orihime Inoue (Bleach)
Arnold Shortman/Helga Pataki (Hey Arnold)
Candace Flynn/Jeremy Johnson (Phineas and Ferb)
Yugi Mutou/Anzu Masaki (Yu-Gi-Oh)
Ash Ketchum/Misty (Pokemon)
Max Goof/Roxanne (A Goofy Movie)
Mickey/Minnie (Disney)
Various other Disney ships
Inuyasha/Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha)
Jake Long/Rose (American Dragon: Jake Long)
Superman aka Clark Kent/Lois Lane (Superman franchise)
Robin/Starfire (Teen Titans)
April O’Neil/Casey Jones (TMNT 2003)
Chris Kratt/Aviva Corocvado (Wild Kratts)
Sunset Shimmer/Human Twilight Sparkle (Equestria Girls)
Shining Armor/Princess Cadence (MLP:FIM)
And I’m probably forgetting a lot but this post is already super long and I can’t remember everything, so... onto Number One!
Grimmons was VERY close to being Number One since it is my current obsession. But then I remembered one other... and I HAD to make it Number One. It is something that I have followed along since I learned what fandoms were, and whenever I think of true love... this is the couple that appears in my mind. I could not leave it off, or not give it the top spot. So my friends, I present to you my Favorite Ship:
#1. Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon and Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask (Sailor Moon)
Tumblr media
Ah, Sailor Moon, my first fandom. My childhood. My love. The series that taught me about love... even when I didn’t care about Usagi and Mamoru’s relaitonship. So it being Number 1 is probably a surprise... but I shall explain.
As a kid... and for the most part as an adult, I am more invested in the girls relationships than about Usagi and Mamoru. It doesn't help that in the 90′s anime, it was the standard ‘these two bicker a lot’ scenario and then it felt more like they only loved each other cause they did in the past. Then R had that stupid break-up plot that I still despise to this very day. Fortunately it was better in the following seasons, S was especially overall super sweet, but... well, it felt forced, stereotypical, and like their love existed because of past memories. Even as a little girl... it just didn’t feel right.
Then I read the manga. And it was SOOOO much better!
While I do still find the romance rushed int he manga, it felt much mroe natural. The two don’t argue like five year olds. They took at least a little time to get to know each other, and uncovered each other’s identities BEFORE the memories came back. As such, when they did regain them after Mamoru got hurt, it felt more like the past just strengthened the love. it showed that it would last throughout the ages. They already recognized their feelings prior, rushed as it was imo, and made it feel more genuine. In the subsequent arcs, they don’t have stupid breakup arcs or a forced love triangle in the final arc. There are issues, very stupid opens (Usagi getting jealous of her future daughter for example), but their love stands strong, they support and protect each other, and they just grow stronger as a result.
This is probably THE most famous anime romance in existence, and it’s not hard to see why. Even if I have issues in how it came to be, their relationship is shown as equal and supportive. It has been something that I’ve followed since I was five years old. Flr what I said about the 90′s anime, I did still like it and I’ve only grown to care about it more over the years... even if I still care more about the Senshi. Still, it’s a classic and to me, is still the one and only Miracle Romance
And that is the list! Trying to go through every fandom I was ever into to remember what I shipped was HAAARD. But I really enjoyed making this list and getting to revisit all of them again. I might do more Top 10′s in the future, so if you guys would like to see me do anything specific, feel free to reply/ask me! Thank you all for reading, and Happy Valentines Day everyone! 💕💕💕

Apritello. Ramona. Leorai Miket I'm okay with but these are my main three (As well as some guilty pleasures but I'll stop with these)
Now since I’m gonna address all these at once I’ll be brief in this post (and expand later if need be
Apritello I like, but I’m annoyed to death by the ‘will they won’t they?’ bullshit of it all. I was all on board 100% the first two seasons, but with April abruptly kissing him early in season 3 and then clinging onto him with no establishment of a relationship...well it was fine at first, but after a while it started to feel like she was leading both him and Casey on and I was not cool with that. Either pick one or don’t. That’s just me nagging. I still like the ship. And this is me generally nagging, not getting into the specifics of it all.
I like it WAY more as an OT3 though. Everyone wins that way.
Ramona is interesting to me. Like I said before I was perfectly fine to write Raph off as gay in this series because he showed 0 interest in women prior to her (aside from implying Karai was hot). Even with that, the relationship between Raph and Mona Lisa in the 1987 series was one of my favorite episodes. They were like starcrossed lovers. They knew something was there, but Mona knew it wouldn’t work. At least that’s what my childhood memories are telling me. The fell in love quickly and never crossed paths again. So while I think there’s a justifiable complaint to their relationship blossoming so quickly and it seeming sloppy, it didn’t feel weird to me because of the previous series. Plus Raph feels things so INTENSELY and does shit without thinking, so it doesn’t seem entirely out of character to me either.
I prolly won’t draw much fanart of it cuz I loved it more in the 87 series, but I like it just fine.
Leorai is...interesting to me. I see it as a boy next door loving a bad girl and thinking ‘I can totally CHANGE her!’, which I guess is the point of it. Their romance seemed rather loose to me, but still ever present. He was into her, but after a while he learned to stop letting that affect his judgement. It just took him a while. A long while. That idiot. Karai meanwhile seemed into him from the start, and not just because she was trying to seduce the enemy. He clearly grew on her and she cared a lot about him, she just, like him, won’ t let those feelings interfere with her plans (and she does a much better job of it).
Plus in all honesty this ship is what inspired me gag incest headcanon. And it’s my favorite one. Go Leo, be with your girlfriend-sister.
Miket I sort of see as another ‘love that can’t be’ scenario. Not in the sense that they wouldn’t try to make it work, but in the sense they they are too far apart in time and realities. Considering their personalities it’s a pretty solid match, and it’s cute to see Mikey flirting so openly with her too.

Comparisons (Part 2): In the Woods; ch. 2: Flashbacks and Batteries
first chap. of this series.
First chap. of au.
Warnings for implied teenage m*sturb*tion, s*x toys and teen hormones making people feel all kinds of weird. Apritello is the main ship, though there isn’t actually any romance in this, nor is there any solo-fun times. Warning for reproductive/heat/menstrual cycles/minor descriptions of some blood. This chapter is in no way graphic, the worst there is is an implied peek at a little chick turt flesh, though Auggie isn’t even sure of what he saw.
*aae
Story under the cut. This chapter is roughly 2064 words long, more than double the count on the other chapters.
1
“No! We gotta find Regina and Casey first!” she cried, angry tears welling behind her eyes.
“We can find them in the mech!” Danny insisted, gesturing towards the tunnel behind her.
She scoffed, “It’s too slow!”
“You’re the one that’s too slow!”
Too slow.
“You’re leading us into disaster!” the genius cried, red eyes flashing angrily.
“I’m doing what Okusan would want us to do!” she let the tears fall.
2
“I’ll lead them away!”
3
Wake up.
Wake up.
4
“We must obtain the turtles for the one called ‘Shredder’.” the android said, its feet clanging loudly on the concrete.
“Shredder?” she whispered, brow ridges furrowing.
5
Shredder?
6
“Fire!”
“Oh no,” she sighed.
7
Arrows.
Arrows?
Arrows.
8
“Stop hiding behind your Foot Bots!” she screamed. “Face me, Shredder!”
“You are beneath me, turtle.”
9
Turtle?
Turtle…
Turtle…
Turtles?
10
“Ah!”
Splash.
“Now,” the woman at the top of the building said, “you may finish her.”
“Graah!” her scream echoed through the courtyard. “Ah!”
11
“Lea!”
12
“You were right, Leanne.”
13
It had been three months since the invasion and things were finally settling down for the gang. Leandra was still comatose but her sisters could finally go more than three hours without needing a nap. Unfortunately, that also meant they needed to eat more. Which meant that August and Casey would need to take on more odd-jobs to keep the farm running. The aforementioned mutant didn’t mind, it got him away from the weirdness of things…
Lately he’d begun to hear… things at night. Really strange things that often vibrated his chest. Purs, almost, and grunting, coming from Dee’s room. It was quite discerning but Mica always told him not to worry about it. Like he could not worry! All he did these days was worry over them! But even so, August couldn’t find a single clue as to what was going on with the brown eyed reptile. She’d been more than irritable the last several days and, while his other companions thought it funny, he was seriously concerned. It wasn’t like Daniela to be so grumpy. Thus, he made the decision to address the matter (a terrible decision in hindsight, if he were to be quite honest).
“Hey, Danny?” he said, poking his head into her bedroom. The sight that greeted him was not expected.
Daniela laid against the headboard of her bed, legs splayed and a hand around her own tail. Her face was an off green-brown color and she was panting slightly, an odd purring sound rumbling out of her shaking chest.
Any other time, August would have shouted out an apology and slammed the door, promptly running to bang his head against a wall. Or a rock. But Dan was down to her wrist in blood and he couldn’t just leave without making sure his (arguably best) friend was alright.
Averting his eyes and stepping into the room, August shut the door while the kunoichi shouted and scrambled to cover herself. Auggie took a deep breath and gathered his courage as he turned back to face her. Boy, did Danny look furious.
“Danny,” he began, trying not to look at the blood-covered bottom of his favorite genius. “Are—are you okay?”
The purring finally stopped and the sedona irises glared at him. “What do you think?” she hissed venomously.
Taken aback, confusion and concern swarming in his eyes, the empath gaped at her, struggling for words. “Um…” he worked his jaw a few more times. “I think you’re hurt.” he stated finally, quirking a red eyebrow and gesturing at her vaguely.
Tilting her head and drawing her legs up to her chest, Daniela evaluated her crush’s friend’s expression and tone. Realization dawned upon her and her gaze softened to understanding. “You don’t know what’s going on,” she said gently, “do you?”
Though it wasn’t truly a question and he knew this, August shook his head, blue eyes drifting down to the tiny appendage nestled between the olive thighs, barely visible in its hiding place. She shifted and a small patch of what seemed to be pink-ish/purple flesh was made visible as her tail wiggled and twitched before settling down again.
“Auggie.” His eyes snapped back up to hers as she spoke. “When we were mutated, we were made much more mammalian.” she explained. “Hence—” she flicked a lock of ebony out of her face—“and even—” she gestured flippantly at her curved upped plastron—“but we also got some other things…” she trailed off, seemingly hesitant to tell. “Well,” she squeaked, “we have various…” the last word (or maybe two) was mumbled and unintelligible.
“What?”
Huffing flusteredly, she grumbled the word(s) again, though they weren’t much more audible. She refused to look him in the eyes.
“What’d you say?” August gasped, not believing that he had, indeed, heard her correctly. There was just no way, after all, he’d heard her right! Right?
But he had, she confirmed with a spastic outburst, slamming her fists into the sheets beneath herself. Heat, she’d said. A mating season, sure, August could’ve wrapped his head around that but a… a… heat cycle? He just couldn’t comprehend it!
Subsequently, he found himself staring at her rather stupidly, unable to fight or even acknowledge the darkening of his own cheeks. An idiotic, slightly wobbling how was all he was able to muster.
“How what?” Daniela scooted back.
“How are you—” August gestured wildly at her—“you know, in heat?” he gasped. “How’s that even possible?”
Fidgeting with her thumbs, the brain sucked in a deep breath. “The same humans do—their periods, I mean.”
“But you’re a turtle—”
“No duh, Sherlock.”
“No!” August waved his hands in front of himself. “I mean…” he huffed out a frustrated sigh. “You’re a turtle, okay?” She nodded, arching an eye ridge. “Turtles lay eggs, right?” She nodded again. “So, why are going through a menstrual cycle?” he demanded.
“It’s a little different for all of us…” she said numbly. “We call all of it heat, just for simplicity’s sake. I go through a menstrual cycle like humans do, Regina makes eggs and breaks them back down to reabsorb, et cetera, et cetera.” she explained, shrugging throughout. “That’s a whole discussion in itself, honestly.”
“Okay, okay—” August rubbed a hand down his face and pinched his eyes closed—“so, you’re not hurt?” he asked, exasperated.
This time, Daniela shook her head. “No, Auggie, I’m fine.”
“Though,” she sang as he was reaching for the doorknob. When he turned to her she was looking at something in her palm. “I’d be a lot better if my bestest friend Awesome Aug would run down to the store for me.”
At the Kraang mutant’s askance look, she added in a quite, hopeful “Please?” paired with her best puppy eyes.
“What is it that you need?” he asked slowly, tersely.
“Batteries?” she squeaked, cringing. “Or, I’d like some batteries.” She offered the obviously-confused “human” her occupied hand, palm up.
Upon closer inspection, August discovered just what she was holding: a small pink vibrator barely the size of an egg and (what he assumed was) its controller, also pink, and attached by a thin, flat wire that reminded him of Regina’s ear-buds.
Stammering like a love-struck middle schooler meeting their celebrity crush, Auggie nodded swiftly, though he’d regret it later. He knew he would, too. But hey, it couldn’t be easy being in heat.
14
August spent most of the car—van?—ride thinking about Daniela, about why exactly he was driving nearly an hour to the 24/7 minimart for batteries of all things! For all possible reasons!
“How do I get into these things?” he muttered bitterly to the empty vehicle. “Batteries…”
The teen continued to grumble through the drive, an occasional half-curse shooting for his friend at home. Or what was home for them now. Finally, after a small eternity, the psychic pulled up to the shop, turned off the ignition, shook himself awake once more, and jumped out of the van.
The bells above the door clanged loudly as he entered, making him cringe and start even though he knew they were there. He turned to the kind older lady at the counter.
“Hey, Cheryl,” he yawned, covering his gaping mouth. “Got any batteries in stock?”
Striding up to the counter (which was really just a repurposed bar counter, repainted and patched-up), he conjured up a sleepy smile for the woman, whose pink-sticked lips grinned back.
“Yeah, we’ve got some over by the bread,” the lips replied. “I don’t know what kind you need but…” Her rough voice tapered off, her statement ending in a shrug.
Cheryl was a very kind woman, albeit a slight pushover at times. She’d recently entered her sixties but had all the energy of Casey when she was at her best of times. Unfortunately, Cheryl’s sandy hair reminded the hockey player of her younger brother, causing her to avoid the woman as best she could.  More unfortunate, this avoidance resulted in August being forced to distance himself also. Casey enjoyed driving more than he did and was stubborn when he tried to convince her of the trip.
Humming, August tried (and failed) to recall what kind of batteries Daniela had requested. Belatedly, he realized she hadn’t specified but rather shooed him out of the room so that she could—
Nope—not thinking about that, not at all! Flustered, the ninja in training realized he was flushed… and stammering rather stupidly. Lie, his brain screamed. But he found himself unable to conjure anything believable. Besides… Lying to Cheryl felt a whole hell of a lot like lying to his mom.
“They’re…” he trailed off hesitantly. “For a friend.” There. That wasn’t a lie. That was the dead honest truth! “I-I don’t know what kind she needs.” Picking at a scab on his arm, Auggie looked the woman in the eyes. She was gazing at him askance, suspicion clouding her grey eyes.
“Same girly you come in here with sometimes?” she asked, eyebrows raised. “Casey, I think her name is?”
It took him a moment to realize why Cheryl was suddenly so wary about him buying batteries for a female friend. The answer was in the way the lady looked him over. He suddenly had to wonder how blood was accumulating in both areas at the same time.
Head lowered, he turned to leave, seeing no point in the verbal battle he’d have to fight in order to make his purchase. He was rather humiliated anyway.
As he was exiting the minimart, he heard the shopkeep mutter a single word of disapproval for his generation. “Kids,” she sighed, sounding equal parts exasperated and disappointed. It made the teen’s getaway that much faster.
15
Upon re-entering his childhood home, August was met almost immediately with the strong, almost bitter scent of freshly brewed coffee. Knowing exactly who it was that brewed the cafein, he made his way into the brightly lit kitchen.
As expected, the olive colored kunoichi was there, steaming mug in hand and pouring over whatever it was she was pouring over at the table. She looked up expectantly, hopefully, as he entered.
“Did they, uh—” she fiddled with the strap of her tank-top—“not have any, or..?”
“Cheryl didn’t like the way I blushed when I asked,” he explained, pulling a chair out for himself before easing onto the decades-old seat. “She got… suspicious when I mentioned a female friend wanted them.”
Face aflame, Daniela nodded her understanding.
“Alight!” Auggie said suddenly, slapping the tabletop. “I’m gonna get a few more hours of sleep,” he declared hurriedly. “G’night.” Jumping up from his chair, the ninja in training wasted no time retreating to his bedroom.
As he left, Regina entered, looking as disheveled as her younger. Making her way over to the quarter-full coffee pot, her own (empty) mug grasped, the blonde glanced askance at the resident genius. Pouring her cup, she sniffed the air derisively. She then fetched the sugar, sweetened up her drink and started back for the stairs. On her way out, Regina looked back to her sister. “You both reek of arousal.” she stated, exiting the room.
Ascending the old, creaking stairs, she repressed a giggle as she heard her sister slamming (what Regina assumed was) her head against the table.
The first ten or so scenes (indicated by the lone numbers) are flashbacks/dreams, hence why they center solely on Leanne rather than all four turtles.

i thiiiink you might betalking about the resolutionau i started writing for @chimyen? in which case, heck yes i’ll write some more. i’m actuallypretty fond of the dynamics in that au – and it was prettyself-indulgent in that it includes all of my favorite pairings, haha.so yes. heck yes.
let’ssee if i still remember how to write these dumbkids

None of them are comfortable lettingLeo go alone, but he’s so quietly stubborn about the whole thingwhen for so long he’s been little more than a ghost around the lairthat they don’t have the heart to deny him, either.
“Promise me you’ll keep in touch,”Donnie says, stern for all the softness in his eyes. “I’mnot above following you across the Atlantic if I think for a secondthat you’re screening my calls.”
“Of course,” Leo says, maybe tooeasily. His voice is hoarse, and whether it’s from disuse oremotion, or a footprint of that terrible grief, Mikey can’t besure. So he squeezes Leo tight when it’s histurn for a goodbye hug; hoping to impress the feeling of his armsaround Leo’s shoulders in a way that will keep, so Leo doesn’tget lonely, or forget his family while he’s gone.
Maybe it’s something they should bedoing as a family – returning father’s ashes to his homeland, laying him to rest with Shen. But Mikey doesn’t want to go.
“Is that wrong?” he asks Raph, afew hours after Leo and the precious urn have gone – and he’stwenty-one years old, but his voice comes out so small he might aswell be twelve. Waiting for recrimination, but all that happens is agentling of Raph’s expression that really isn’t a surprise toanyone.
Raph slings an arm around hisshoulders, a few inches shorter these days but no less solid andstrong than he’s always been, and Mikey leans into his roughbrother’s side the way he’s done his whole life.
“’Course not,” Raph tells himshortly. “Father wouldn’t want us to drop everything for him, would he?”
He wouldn’t, Mikey concedes, lightened. And they know that for a fact. He was sick for so long they had more than enough time tomake peace and say goodbye.
“Leo’s doing this for himself,”Raph adds, not unkindly, “and if that’s what he’s gotta do tobe okay again, then that’s what he’s gotta do. But the rest of us– we got shit to do here.”
And they do. The lair flooded just a couple weeksago in a bad, bad way; the grimy waters effectively stealing theirhome away in a matter of dark, stormy hours. It would have broken asixteen-year-old Michelangelo’s heart, but it wasn’t as hard asit could have been.
Homes are transitory, he remembersfather saying once.
They’re settling into the pretty loopstation that sits abandoned under busy Manhattan (and Mikey is soglad this contender for The Lair 2.0 won over thatold water treatment plant in the Bronx, because that place gave himthe creeps) and Casey, April and Woody make thetransition easier than it would have been without them, and Mikeystill has his brothers and his cat and fond memories of the place heused to live.
Leo’s the only one struggling to keephis head above water. Mikey misses him the moment he’s gone, andignores the tiny voice in the back of his brain that questionswhether or not Leo will ever come back.
“I’ve barely been gone a day, Don,”Leo says by way of greeting the first time Donnie calls him, and hesounds scratchy and tired but happy to hear from them, and Mikeyclusters against Donnie’s shoulder to shout his own hello. “Hi,Mikey,” he adds fondly. Mikey’s heart swells two sizes, and hebeams so radiantly at Donnie that Donnie’s smile back is aknee-jerk reaction. “Wait. Isn’t it close to two a.m. there? Whatare you still doing up? You have class in the morning.”
“Yeahhh, online. All I have to do is a discussion board, anyway, who cares. Tell meabout the trip so far!”
And so he does. And maybe Mikey’simagining it, but Leo sounds a little lighter already, like justgetting out and getting away was enough to seep some of those sadshadows out of his soul. It hurts, just a tiny bit, that Leo had toleave them to feel better, but mostly Mikey’s glad.
Leo calls again when he arrives atKarai and Shinigami’s little apartment in Tokyo, and then they all get amass text from Karai’s number which turns out to be a selfie shetook of herself, her girlfriend, and her little brother, all mashedcheek-to-cheek. There are dark circles under Leo’s eyes, but theblue of them is bright, and his smile is a crooked flash of teeth.
“Thank you, Karai,” April whispers.Mikey leans his head on her shoulder, feels Woody wrap an arm aroundthem both, and shares the sentiment with all his heart.
They don’t know how long he’ll beaway – they didn’t really press him for details before he left, afraid to press him too hard for anything since the world seems too heavy for him anymore and even a harshword feels like enough to send him spiraling into pieces. So days turnto months, and Mikey misses him. There’s aLeo-shaped absence in the new lair they build out of the loopstation, and it won’t really be home until he’s back.
Still, they have movie marathons, andTaco Tuesdays, and cram sessions when finals week rolls around. Theycelebrate Casey’s birthday, and Donnie and April’s thirdanniversary, and fill the lair with string lights and secondhand furniture, and Mikey falls asleep most nights in the warm cocoon ofWoody’s arms.
Still, they settle into life around thehole where their big brother should be, and it’s a little scary. That it can be so normal, so functional, without him.
And then, when it’s been seven weeksand some change, Leo sendsa text asking ‘whoever’s not busy’ if they have time to talk onSkype. The result is a scrambledflurry as everyone present – which is everyone except Casey, who’sgoing to be ticked he got suckered into a doubleshift at work when he finds out – bolts into Donnie’s lab andclusters around his array of flatscreen monitors. And Leo looks alittle startled to see almost the entire clan looking back at him,but it’s a startle that turns into surprised laughter, and Mikeynearly swallows his heart at the sound.
“I wanted you to meet someone,” Leosays, sounding so much like his old self that it’s almost painful tohear. He tilts the screen of his phone to the side and his siblingsare greeted to a wealth of downy white fur and dark, almond-shapedeyes. “This is Usagi,” is Leo’s helpful voice-over,and each word is shaped like a wide smile, and whoever Usagi is,Mikey loves him.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Donniesays, and nothing in his expression gives away how his hands shake under the computer desk. Raph wraps an arm around him that manages to look casual, and none of the brightness in Leo’s eyes goes away for even a second in the precious handful of hours that they get to see his face.
When he finally comes home, he takes them by surprise. There’s no warning when the hatch opens and a familiar figure slides down the ladder. One moment, for all Mikey knew, Leo was an ocean away – and now here he is, sliding a worn bag off his shoulder, eyes wide as he takes in their home.
It was dirty and dusty when he left and now it’s warmly lit and the stained glass windows shine. He only gets a few seconds to admire the place, because a few seconds is all it takes for his family to process what they’re seeing – and then he’s got armfuls of siblings to hug, and cheeks and foreheads to kiss, and tears to scrub away as deftly as if he’s ten years old again, tending hurt feelings and skinned knees with all the proficiency of someone born to the job.
Usagi looks a little out of place, but only for a moment, because Mikey is quick to cross the room to him. And Leo must have told the rabbit all about his little brother beforehand, since Usagi’s face gentles as Mikey comes near, and he’s ready for it when Mikey throws his arms around Usagi’s waist and buries his face in the tired fabric of a well-loved kimono and holds on for all he’s worth.
There’s a whole world of things Mikey wants to say to him, this stranger who isn’t a stranger at all, who found Leo and brought him back where he belongs – but all Mikey can manage, for right now at least, is “Hi,” and “Thank you,” and “Welcome home.”
