tag game !
tagged by @jtrbluv !! ty love, i’ve seen this one going around and it looked fun !!
1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?
i only started writing fanfiction this year, so bts is the one and only lol
2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?
bts !! i think i’ll be sticking to just bts x reader fics during my time here :) (but i am def a big fan of other groups and post about them sometimes !! my other interests can be found through the navi and i’m down to chat/fangirl anytime)
3. how long have you been writing?
like five or six years? i used to write original stories on wattpad in middle school but i have unfortunately forgotten both the username and password to that account and just realized those monstrosities might still be floating around on there oof
4. on which platforms do you post your stories?
just tumblr !! i’m the process of making an ao3 in case something happens to my account, but i probably won’t crosspost unless i have to, just kinda depends
5. what is your favourite genre to write?
def fluff and comedy !!! i enjoy angst but i’m a bit of a method actor in that i deeply feel whatever i’m writing so i normally don’t make it far writing angst lol but i will try one day !!
6. are you a pantser or a planner?
planner for sure !! i have def written fics that weren’t planned, but i tend to feel way better about the ones that i plan out. they flow better when i plan them and when you know where your story is going it’s easier to foreshadow and actually build tension towards the climax and ending !!!
7. one shot or multi-chapter?
it really just depends on the story !!! it’s all in how i envision it tbh. if i see the scenes more as episodic and almost separately working towards the ending, then it’ll probably end up fitting into chapters. but if the scenes and arcs all really rely on each other and flow as a group, then yeah it’s a big one shot !! as a reader, i tend to binge anyway so it doesn’t matter to me lol
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
lol again it depends on what suits the story !! and i think it’s fun sometimes for there to be a variety of chapter lengths
9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?
stepsisters and squires at 11.0k, and yes it’s complete !! although my current biggest project is probably going to end up around 15k and if i had to guess, part two will probably be a bit shorter than that
10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?
hmmmm for sure @alpacaparkaseok’s request case closed!! i was being very silly writing it and had a grand time, but takes two to tango is a close second behind !!!
11. favourite request you've have written and why (if any?)
oh well there we go it’s case closed !!! i love some good silly ridiculous romance and i feel like i did an okay job achieving that lol
12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?
awkward people finding love ???? LOL and lots of overthinking only to realize things aren’t quite as big as they first appeared wait omg yeah that’s it that’s the one lmao. scrolled through my masterlist and it seems that the central conflict is always the main character versus their own mind which is basically my day-to-day life so makes sense i guess
also i’ve accidentally written people talking over each other and then said something like “timing’s funny” right after in two separate fics and needless to say i’m disappointed in myself LOL how did i do that ??? tsk tsk
13. current number of wips?
ahhh i’m not really sure how to count them but i’m like actively writing around four or five, i tend to bounce around and then suddenly binge write an entire one
14. three things you have noticed about your own writing?
hmmm well 1) we’ve learned my characters are too caught up in their own heads (like me muhahaha), 2) i tend to write pretty colloquially even though i have the vocabulary to be more descriptive lol, and 3) even when i don’t mean to i tend to end up writing based off of things i’ve experienced before
15. a quote you like from a published story
lol this isn’t particularly well written or anything i just think it’s funny and i really enjoyed writing this scene. it’s from stepsisters and squires !
“Maybe you can trick the witch!” You suggest, words muffled by the dessert you’re chewing on as you blatantly talk with your mouth open. All manners have been abandoned as Taehyung is eating two eclairs at once, equally focused on the matter at hand. “Well, no, maybe trying to trick a magical scary lady is a bad idea.”
i’m very attached to tae’s character despite him making a very minor appearance and i love his and the oc’s chaotic energy together haha !! i’d like to write him his own spin-off sometime based on their interaction
16. a quote from an unpublished story
hehe imma keep teasing the tae twoshot in the hopes that it makes me ACTUALLY FINISH IT FJKDLSHGLSDKJF anyway ~~~
“Your singing, on the other hand, is just fantastic,” he adds, smirking as he side-eyes you. He suppresses a laugh when he sees your mortified expression. You’re quick to cover it, crossing your arms and feigning pride.
“I know. You guys are lucky I’m not participating in the battle of the bands. I’d crush you.” Taehyung full on giggles then and you don’t hate it all that much. It’s a little squeaky though. But then his eyes light up and he’s grabbing you by the shoulders, a desperate look in his eye.
“Wait, would you wanna join? Because we could really use a mezzo voice, it’d completely change the sound—”
hopefully an official teaser will be dropped soon we’ll see !!!
17. space for you to say something to your readers
thank you guys for being so patient and supportive :( i know i’ve been very sporadic about posting and really haven’t posted at all in like a month and a half. it was very much my intention to write a bunch and then release things on a schedule (and it still is!!) but things have been difficult recently and prevented that from happening. to get to the point, you guys are so great and every piece of feedback and every like and every follow absolutely makes my heart soar. you guys remind me that i’m still capable of writing even when i really don’t feel like it and i appreciate you !! much love <333
tagging @softbobamilktae and @hyungieyoongi my go-to’s lol (sorry if you’ve already done it !!!)

Fanfic Authors Tag Game
Thankee for tagging @moramewhq
AO3 name(s): Tottwriter, [REDACTED] Fandoms: Haikyuu!!, Digimon (a little lapsed, but I still tinker with my WIPs!), sliiiightly BNHA, and I have a TUA wip which I will someday resume. I try not to venture into new fandoms but, you know...I fail. Number of fics: I have 56 posted works, but also, uh... a few which I haven’t gotten to posting yet.
1. Fic I spent the most time on:
Um. Oh jeez. I mean, I guess nothing has overtaken Hope’s Fire just yet, because that’s the monster. Hopefully nothing else will? XD
2. Fic I spent the least time on:
Well this is genuinely a toss-up, because I have a few which I wrote for 20 minute prompt game fills, and then hardly even bothered to edit before they were thrown up on Ao3 without a backward glance.
Annoyingly, some of them are among my most popular works.
3. Longest fic:
Hope’s Fire! As I said, it’s the monster, currently clocking in at ~144k. My longest completed fic is The Ocean’s Curse though, which is 62.4k!
4. Shortest fic:
Okay so my shortest fic is actually a bit of weird experimental stuff I wrote for Starbound, which you will note I did not list in the fandoms above, lol. It’s old and weird and 351 words long... I don’t think anyone wants to read it. You don’t want to read it.
5. Most hits:
Hope’s Fire! It’s not really surprising tbh, given how long ago I started it and how many chapters it has.
6. Most kudos:
Hope’s Fire wins this one too! I bet you’re all really shocked to learn this.
7. Most comment threads:
...imma give you lot one guess.
8. Favorite fic I wrote:
fuck. Er. I dunno? I mean I write because I like writing them, you know? But honestly if I have to narrow it down... Parallel for the ‘serious’ fics, and either Press Play or (Not) Moving On for my more lighthearted stuff. It’s hard to pick when I swing between such tone extremes!
9. Fic you want to re-write:
I mean this is probably gonna sound really dumb but...kinda also Hope’s Fire??
Hear me out tho, because it’s complicated (and also I sorta already am). This fic started in 2015. I love it wholeheartedly, and I keep coming back to tinker and I wish life would stop throwing so much shit in my way and let me devote a bit more time to fic-writing so I continue it properly.
But the periodic and spaced-out returns have meant that every time I knuckle down I end up re-reading the whole fic for continuity and tone reasons. You can probably see where this is going. Each time I read my old opening I cringe. It’s just not up to the standards of my writing today and it bugs me.
If I’m being brutally honest, part of the reason I haven’t updated it in so long is that I keep getting distracted going back and tweaking/fixing old chapters rather than focusing on new ones. It’s a bad habit but one I just can’t seem to kick.
10. Share bit of a WIP or a story idea you’re planning on:
You know, I’m actually gonna give two. I’ll drop them below a cut because this got long, but I know I have both Digimon and HQ peeps here and it’s sucky to be in the fandom that doesn’t get the love. I can’t promise when I’ll manage to get either of these posted (I’m trying to avoid adding more works to my Ao3 until they’re actually, you know, finished) but...they exist!
First up, we have Fun and Games at the Adventure Cafe
Yes, this is exactly what you think it is:
The notice on the door said “HELP WANTED” in large, sensible font.
The addendum “Enquire Within” sat below it, equally formal.
Scribbled underneath in scruffy handwriting was just one more addition:
‘as in we’re hiring. dw we know what we’re doing.’
The notice on the door the following morning was back to plain old:
     HELP WANTED      Enquire Within
…It lasted half a day or so, at least.
As Sora remarked later, it was a wonder they got any applicants at all. Then again, as Taichi remarked, it wasn’t as though a lot of places were taking on extra staff—which was something of an oddity as the summer approached.
“It’s that swanky place round the corner,” he said with disgust, peering out of the window. “Bastards are driving everyone out of business.”
“But not you guys, right!” piped up their current interviewee. “You’re doing great! Honestly, as soon as I saw the sign I knew I had to apply. I’ve always wanted to start my own ramen business, and I figure I ought to start out with a popular place like this and get some real experience in the industry, you know?”
“Er, yes. Right,” Sora remarked, looking over his application. “Well, Daisuke, I will have to warn you that as a new hire you’d be working front-of-house rather in the kitchen, but if you’re okay with that—”
“Eh, just tell him he’s hired already,” Taichi replied, turning back to face them with a grin. “Yamato could definitely use a hand in the kitchen sometimes, so taking on a future all-rounder makes total sense.”
From the look Sora shot him, it perhaps didn’t, but Daisuke was already practically leaping to his feet with a grin, exclaiming that they could totally rely on him, and he absolutely would not let them down and could start the next day if they needed him to.
Next up, for my HQ peeps, here’s a little snippet from Connection Problems, my longtime langushing halfway chatfic. I’m not sharing the chatfic stuff because formatting tumblr is hell, though.
Kenma always suspected that being a third year would turn out to be a pain, but he’d rather hoped his fears wouldn’t be realised within the first few weeks of the school year. Really, it’s bad enough that Kuro, Yaku and Kai have left, and that everyone else nominated him for the role of Captain (he’d talked them down to being Vice Captain instead, but that, apparently, was as low as they were prepared to go). He does not need Taketora constantly pestering him about—of all things—a chat group as well.
“Come on, I thought you and Kuroo were like, joined at the hip or something! Don’t try and act like you don’t miss him now he’s at university.”
He shrugs. “I have a phone. We’re keeping in touch.” Because, really. That’s all that matters, isn’t it? Why does everyone have to complicate things so much?
“Yeah, but, it’s not the same, right? Besides, what the hell! You spend all that time on your phone as it is. And even Fukunaga joined, right?”
Kenma glances over at Shouhei, who nods, grinning sheepishly. Drat.
“Still, I don’t have that chat app you all use,” he says. “It’s too much trouble setting it up, when I can message Kuro just fine.”
That should have been the end of it. Any rational person would have seen that it was no good, and left him in peace. Kuro would have, certainly. Not pushing—never pushing, actually. Just nudging him along a little, and even then, only when it comes to volleyball. He’s learnt all of Kenma’s limits over the years.
But the thing is, Kuro isn’t there any more. It’s just himself, Taketora and Shouhei, and okay, Shouhei never pushes—he hardly ever says anything, for that matter. But Taketora is clearly some sort of demon and he, Kenma, is being punished. Maybe he really pissed someone off in a previous life. Maybe this is a penance so he can piss someone off in his next life with a free pass. Either way, the badgering doesn’t let up.
Kenma holds out until the 27th of May. Seven weeks of hassling is more than enough for anyone.
Aaaand for tagging how about: @ahiddenpath, @humandisasterbuckybarnes, @mooifyourecows

25-30? 😋💓
Hanna!! The other day, I was actually thinking about our talented and amazing team!! I hope you’re doing well~☺️💕
25. Do you start your novels with dialogue or description? Do you end your novels with dialogue or description? — It pretty much depends on what I’m writing... but I think most of the time, I start my works with description, and end them with dialogue?? Maybe?? Hopefully??
26. What do you feel like you need to work on as a growing writer? How can you improve? — Honestly... everything!! jk jk... kind of. I think the main thing I’m trying to focus on right now is just motivation to write in general. I go through these periods where I want to write, and then I don’t want to write—which in turn makes me anxious cause I know I should write and so on... Aside from that, just bettering general things with my writing like structure, dialogue, character development, etc.
27. Do you have playlists for your wip? What are some of the songs in it? — Oh yes. I have a playlist for pretty much every genre I write😅 If Something romantic and cute?? Definitely turning on some One Direction and Got7. Melancholic and heart wrenching?? Gimme some Evanescence and Day6. Badass and full of action?? Imma need some Monsta X and Red Velvet with that~
28. Do you need background noise to write? If so, what do you listen to? — ^^^^Silence makes me anxious, so yeah definitely😙
29. How do you share your writing? Do you use any writing websites and, if so, share your profiles! — Aside from here on Tumblr and a Wattpad account I won’t reveal cause dark memories, that’s all I got!
30. What is some of the best writing advice you’ve read or received? Why does it work for you? — “You are your own worst critic.” I think this pretty much goes for everything outside of writing, but coming up with a story idea and translating it into words is the most frustrating thing ever—solely because you want the picture in your head to perfectly match what you write. But sometimes it doesn’t work like that... and that’s totally okay! You just have to be proud of what you’ve created, even if you may not be entirely happy with it~

I'm going to send in a few questions because your writing is so lovely and I enjoy reading it whenever I see it on my feed. 🥰 Which Cybird character(s) do you have fun writing for? In addition to your favorites, are there any that you enjoy writing because of how the character is portrayed in the games? And ⭐⭐⭐
gdbfxjgkhdsngdsxg bless your heart ;;w;; it’s always a joy seeing your tags, they give me all them warm fuzzies ^w^~
hmmm, most fun characters to write for.... definitely my biases simply because....bias gbdfugkdf. Mitsuhide especially, since it lets me put a bit more sass into my writing than usual hehe. I also always enjoy writing for Fenrir. Writing for him always makes me happy because he’s just a happy boi so it’s contagious and so goood.
For character portrayal, I love writing for Arthur and maintaining that balance of cheeky Brit and sad destroyed soul. Same with Ieyasu; that boi gets my snarkiest lines and I live for it >:3 and I wish, god I wish, I could do Kenshin justice in my fics because he’s such an interesting character, but Tawny bad at writing possessive characters hfdkhndfhg.
imma cheat a little bit and talk about one of my WIPs first, then I’ll get into some fics I’m proud of uwu.
⭐ IkeRev Drug Dealer AU - I actually remember super clearly how and when I got this idea. I was at work, it was a slow day and my brain was just naturally wandering. I started thinking about the Godfather, which led me to think about mafia themes and then it went on a tangent into drug trades. I started crafting this AU and I’d be sneakily bringing my phone out so I could write everything down in my notes bdgfkndfs. I also very clearly remember yelling at my friend Shannon about it all as I was setting it all up. So...ye. I still need to finish writing it but I have it all planned out and, if it comes out as I imagined it, hopefully you guys will love it just as much as I do whenever I delve into this AU uwu
⭐ Ieyasu x MC - Magic Hands - ...ah yes, my introduction into the Tumblr fanfiction world hdfgkndfgs. That fic was incredibly self-indulgent and I remember writing it in mild pain as I would attempt to click my neck every 5 minutes or so. Plus...a massage from Ieyasu? I mean.....yes. Looking back on it now, I can see that I’ve improved in my writing and my character portrayal (he feels a bit out of character or at the very least, the story doesn’t flow as well as I would expect of myself currently). but hey, you’re your own worst critic and I can read this without cringing at myself so I guess that must count for something dfbuigsdngsdg
⭐ Arthur & Dazai - Nonsense Bungaku - so this fic is actually one I’m quite proud of for a couple of reasons. I like how I was able to incorporate a song into the story (especially with it being a song so symbolic of both of these sad writers). Secondly, I found out how much fun it is to write these two characters together. Writing them together teasing Isaac is one thing, but purposefully writing them in a sombre atmosphere was surprisingly fun and the words flowed faster than I could have imagined. I also got to go heavy on my symbolism which is always fun uwu. Writing pieces like this have become quite therapeutic for me atm amongst...life bdgfigbdg, so I like being able to look back on this and be proud of it.

I absolutely love the enemies-to-lovers trope, so I always get disappointed when it just turns out to be romanticized abuse. So, any tips on how to write one and what to avoid?
oooooh i’m glad you asked! this is actually the love arc in my Icarus WIP, so i’m fresh from the battleground. i’ll stick it below a cut bc it gets a bit long (go figure)
first and foremost (and like the anon i just answered said) the characters have to be equals, which means there can’t be a master/slave dynamic, a teacher/student or mentor/mentee dynamic (though this one is a bit nebulous as it can be done well, but if one is a teenager, they have to both be teenagers), or something along those lines. what a power balance needs to do is establish that they are, in some way, equals, be it strength, age/mentality, status, roles, arcs, etc. i’ll give an example from Icarus, maybe? it might be easier to explain that way.
so, in chapter 1 my narrator Gideon is rescued from a lake that he’d just fallen in (after an Icarus plunge) by Asa. Gideon is Big while Asa isn’t as much, but they both have strengths that make them equals: Asa grew up hunting monsters and, when Gideon is recovered from dying (what a weird sentence…but he dies five times in the book, so), Gideon is his equal in terms of strengths.
to quote Gideon:
Grimacing as my bodypulses with pain from my impact with the tree, I square my shoulders, lift mychin, and try not to feel small by comparison. Sure I’m not trained the way heclearly is, but I could crush him by sitting on him, so I’m going to use mysize to my advantage.
i use these first chapters to establish how they’re equally-powered, just in different ways, as their bodily strength is what defines that in this case. they’re both just (mostly) regular guys who live (mostly) regular lives (if we ignore the monster hunting and the Icarus curse). plus, Asa is 28 to Gideon’s 25, so they’re both adults and fairly far from their formative years.
so, that’s how you set up the power balance. of course, the balance doesn’t have to be in physical strength, like i said up above; that’s just how it worked in this WIP’s case.
the best way to write an enemies-to-lovers story is to follow a certain arc that goes something along the lines of “i hate you i don’t trust you get away from me” -> “no i don’t trust you and i still hate you but we have to work together” -> “okay i guess i trust you but i still hate you even though we have to work together” -> “i trust and tolerate you” -> “i trust you without any if, ands, or buts” -> “okay i trust you completely and also let’s neck” (i doubt anyone will get my I Love Lucy references, but i find them amusing so imma just go with it and in this case “let’s neck” means “let’s make out”) -> “i trust you and fucking heck i guess i love you too”
it can go beyond there (or follow an arc that doesn’t contain those exact steps, bc every story and couple is different), but hopefully you get the idea. enemies-to-lovers has to be done in a very specific way that few people can master as, like you said, they often mistake enemies-to-lovers as “abusive asshole i hate bc he’s an abusive asshole” to “but i can change him!” or “but he’s nice to me now that i’m sleeping with him!” etc etc.
i think what’s also important is to have apologies be made, should they be necessary. to use my Icarus WIP again, Asa has heightened sensory powers (it’s a long story–105k, in fact) that allow him to overhear things that people might not want to be overheard. Gideon has known this from the get-go, but it didn’t occur to him that Asa did it unthinkingly, as it’s just second nature at this point to have his senses (particularly hearing) heightened. so in the case of Gideon, Asa overheard phone calls Gideon made to his mom and to his grandmother, and when Asa says something that makes Gideon realize “wait he heard everything bc he has heightened sensory powers” Gideon tells him he doesn’t trust him, even though Asa explains why it’s second nature to have them heightened. they’d gotten to “okay i guess i trust you but i still hate you even though we have to work together” and fallen back to “no i don’t trust you and i still hate you but we have to work together”.
so, a hop, skip, and 70-ish pages later, Asa says this:
Asa shuffles away andback. “I keep meaning to tell you I’ve been trying to turn down my senses so Idon’t overhear you—or anyone, for that matter. I’m sorry for doing it before.”
I blink at the drain.“You must be more tired than I thought.”
“Yeah, well, I meanit.”
“Thanks, then.”
they’re also both in a government lockup (again, a long story) and all they have is each other as their brains are both used as, to quote Gideon again (i just love Gideon, okay)
I was strapped to a dentist’s chair in that roomthere, forced to spend twenty-three days as a movie projector.
their escape from said government lockup is also a serious moment of trust growth between them, though Gideon keeps trying to explain away the lengths to which Asa is going so he doesn’t make Gideon withdraw again, so they remain at their current placement of “i trust and tolerate you”. Gideon, then, learns this around 50 pages later:
Asa grabs my hip, holding me still, and—to my complete surprise—I trust him here with these Watchers.“Don’t move until I say so.”
from that point on, they trust each other completely, if not hesitantly at first. bc this book only takes place over about a year, they’re still at the “okay i trust you completely and also let’s neck” stage–and they arrive at that stage nearly 100 pages later. that’s another important thing about this kind of arc: if your timeframe is short and the characters spend a good chunk of the book hating each other, it is unrealistic and lends itself to problematic aspects if they end the book at “i trust you and fucking heck i guess i love you too”. i suppose there could be exceptions to this, but i can’t think of any off the top of my head, nor do i really believe that there are any.
SO. i think that’s all i have to say on the matter? let me know if any of this doesn’t make sense, or if you want anything explained more fully! :)
