Thursday, August 10.

Graduation day at The University of Kyoto.

It's summer!

The season of sunshine, at least a little relaxation, maybe a holiday, and, for many, the season of graduation. The end of an era, if you will. The changing of the guard, one might say. The passing of the baton, if you must. It is the departure from school, college, high school, middle school, university—and into the beyond, into the great unknown. For where one door must close, another door must open.

This change is an all manner of things at once: exciting, frightening, a clear way forward, and a leap into the dark. However, what is without doubt is it makes for a great chance to dress to the nines—and then some. For most, this means suits, dresses, gowns, and a mortarboard. For those at The University of Kyoto, Japan, #graduation looks a little different. And quite frankly we ~cannot~ get enough.

i'm graduating tomorrow. i know i should have something significant to say about that, a dramatic speech filled with hopeful, bittersweet sentiment. but i don't.

i was standing in my room, listening to some godforsaken song about better times, and i asked myself "is this it?"

i never let myself think that a previous version of myself was someone worth missing, but there i was standing in a room, surrounded by the evidence of her successes, her loves, and her losses. i missed her so much. there she was, pressed into the paint of my wall, reduced to a passing image. i don't even think i knew her.

some people need to leave. they need to cry for the first couple of weeks so that they can pick themselves up off the wooden floor and keep going. but i have always known how to say goodbye. i never let myself linger because i know what comes. i don't need to leave.

i need to learn how to stay.

I'm felling really desperate

I don't know if anyone who follows me or just sees my posts randomly knows this, but i'm a communication studant, wich is really cool, like, getting to study about journalism (my graduation enphasis), propaganda, cinema, etc. but i've been feeling kind of spaced out lately.

It's been almost four years of my life, and it was amazing right from the start. I made great many friends, learned A LOT, evolved professionally and personally but now that it's ending, i feel so out of place as if theres a dead end coming or something of the sort.

The only other time i can recall feeling like this was 2020 when I was looking for a university, doubting myself, doubting my choices, feeling like I wouldn't be able to be anyone in life and so so mad for having to put my dream aside (wich is to be a singer) because, like Raven and my mom said: nobody accepts dreams as a payment method.

I think i made peace with that, i know i'll have to postpone my real actual dream a little more until i have financial stability to pursue it and a plan b in case it goes terribly wrong (because yes i think abot the worst outcomes ever instead of the best ones) but i can't help but feel empty.

Writing this makes me think... could this be anxiety? it's not like i'm diagnosed and i'm not a fan of self diagnosing. should i go see a therapist? i've been putting that aside because I don't think i'm ready to look in the mirror.

well... writing this actually made me feel lighter.

Stay safe and go to therapy.
