hellooo <3 just came by to say that i absolutely love your art and your style is just straight up amazing >:] though i must ask that do you have anywhere to start with when it comes to practicing anatomy or drawing fullbody? as in sketching in order to enhance your understanding of anatomy cuz i love how you draw poses !! :D oh and probably shoes too cuz they look absolutely funky and cute in chibi form hehe

Okioki so i usually practice anatomy by looking at references, usually the more unusal the pose the better. Also also if im ever making a full body sketch i draw the whole body first before any smaller details like parts of the face.

Oh! And Its a lot easier to start head to toe when it comes to drawing bodies, the arms go last because they can cover up most of the body and screw the anatomy a bit if you draw them immediately, but thats just me.

As for the shoes, you kinda gotta have a grasp of how to draw feet. i sorta use those triangle things with round edges

Like this one, its mainly for how i wanna position the feel and stuff

And for the shoes themselves, theyve got like a general anatomy in a way

Just have those in mind and you can just experiment with the rest, its like a template of sorts lol

grumpus designs addendummm

ANYWAYS. felt like doin a post talking abt how i draw the grumpuses or whatever for funsies bc im bored + since i did the design meme. lets go

in General : i draw them like furries, vaguely. which is fun because im not much of a furry artist so i have no idea what im doing and it shows. in general i give them sorta snouts in varying... snoutyness depending on their over/underbite. eg floofty, snorpy gramble and shelda have flatter faces while liz, lillow and wambus look like weird dogs, i guess. i draw them with human-shaped hands but put pawpads on them. sometimes. you could say i give them ears but to be honest they dont look functioning i just slap some squiggles on their heads and move on. i also give some of them tails. because i walk around irl like why dont i have a tail and well its their problem now.

I also give them more/detailed-er hair and clothes. character specific stuff below

Filbo is still just a guy. I mostly just slapped some freckles on him because I thought theyd be cute. in a spongebob kinda way. i put a hawaiian shirt on him. not pictured, i think he would have a little tuft of a tail. average goober

I draw Beffica with more... idk if id say realistic hair, but it’s less of a hat. as far as I can tell, her in-game model has orangeish-red eyes (color makes me think of ketchup), but I made them browner. not a lot of brown eyed characters in media but this is partially habit on my part coming from drawing genshin fanart (nobody has brown eyes). i made her nose heart shaped and put her in a off the shoulder shirt. she has a sort of... cheetah? pattern bc i think its cute.

Eggabell is round soft and pink. not as egg shaped in my style i suppose, but she prob looks more egg fullbody than just her bust lol. i like the ........ floofy thing ive seen ppl put on her so theres that, i also think she’d look cute w/ short hair. changed her med belt into a sort of... satchel lookin thing?

Liz. in the meme I forgot about her hat, LOL. I give her a ponytail haircut - she kinda looks like a wolf and less like a walrus I suppose... she’s muscular and scared from The Adventuring, and I put a vest thing on her. she still has the belt.

Wambus I made look a bit dilfy... kind of wolf shaped in my brain. him and Triffany feel like the types to be that thick beefy kind of muscled. gave him bushy eyebrows and sort of hair, w some grey hairs. he and Triffany are around 40-50s to me, they both have some wrinkles, but im. bad at drawing older ppl

Triffany..... her hat was a menace to draw. she’s just as beefed up as Wambus, but she’s very fluffy and soft looking. her vest is more Open in canon but I didn’t wanna redraw it but im sure she has amazing chest fur. she has curly-ish hair in a ponytail.

for Cromdo I tried to make him like.. idk... uncleish. danny devitocore. I’m not used to drawing characters like him so ??? its a little funny looking but I tried to make him look like he had body hair as if he wasnt covered in fur lmfao. gave him some wrinkles, he’s probably in his 40s. put a shirt on that freak. also, had trouble w his nose.

I’ve had trouble drawing shorter characters in relation to taller ones (chandlo) but I liked how I drew Gramble. I put freckles on him (cute factor), turned his vest into a full sweater (w shirt collar), gave him some curly strawberry red hair under the hat. he’s cute. I know he weighs like 3 apples

WIGGLE my beloved! I felt I made her a bit Much but honestly? fits her. I gave her short curly hair - I do like how other designs give her the spiky mohawk look from the cheepoof tho! in her model her eyes are blue, but I darkened them similarly to how I changed Beffica’s eyes, but its less noticeable with the glasses. I gave her a sorta... half tube top w a see thru part (forgot the word.) probably wears beach party clothes

Oddly, I have trouble with Chandlo. He’s kind of dog-ish like Liz an Lillow, also made his nose heart shaped cuz its cute. gave him hair under the hat but idk how I feel on it. he’s beefy obviously, but I think he’s a bit more defined than Wambus. I couldn’t quite show it but I imagine he has rather calloused paws, but is otherwise careful when carpenter-ing and such (unlike Snorpy and Floofty, OSHA enemies.)

SNORBYYYYY I love this little yellow thing. I draw him (and his sibling) with casual glasses usually, because I imagine the magnifying glass isnt Always necessary. I also put him in a sweater. I gave him some freckles and changed the direction of his hair + the style to be in a ponytail idk. his arms and hands are particularly scarred, from equipment and engineering accidents and such, probably has some burns too.

Floofty my beloved rude asshole. I have a little trouble w their hair on the left side of their head 😭 I also give them simpler glasses to wear when they don’t need the goggles because wearing that shit all day hurts. I put them in a hoodie/jacket + lab coat combo. I imagine the lab coat is blood stained. stuff’s hard to clean. They’re equally if not more scarred than their brother, and have a particularly bad burn/scar double whammy on their right hand which I hc they get after getting fired when having a meltdown. ANYWAYS

Shelda my gramma. I love her but MY GOD coloring the flowers was hard lol. I imagine her fur is on the shorter side. I don’t have too much to say I guess? I want to give her a hug.

Clumby I just drew a kind of Aunt-y ish garfield. the glasses and hat were hard. definitely the type of woman I saw in the middle school’s reception office.

is that all? I guess that’s all. there’s Lillow, but I dont have much to say I guess? besides that the scar on her nose is from snaktooth. what was it clumby said? “dont fall off a cliff onto your face?”

you've probably already gotten the gist of what this blog is about, but here's some specifics for you.

information:

on this blog, i draw people's ocs that they send to me through the ask box, with the aim of giving oc artists the dopamine rush of receiving art of their beloved children!

i post all drawings i make on here and tag the creator of the oc

all drawings will be fully rendered unless specified (please tell me if you want the drawing to be flatcolor / sketched!)

everyone who submits an ask will have their oc drawn as long as the request abides by the rules below!!

if you do not specify which type you would like, i will draw whichever i feel like! also, if you would like a sketch page, please specify how many drawings you would like on it! (upper limit for regular style character drawings is 4, upper limit for chibis is 3)

to be eligible to submit a character, you must:

a fully colored reference of your character

some things you can also do, but don't have to:

include how far down you'd like your character to be drawn (headshot, halfbody, fullbody, etc)

include a pose or expression you'd like your oc to have

submit multiple characters at a time (please specify if you'd like them to be drawn together or not; if so, include their relationship, height difference, and how you'd like them to be interacting)

ask for multiple drawings of the same character (they will be drawn and posted together)

i can draw all genders, body types, and skin colors

re: your character design umm im pretty terrible when it comes to design myself but i like how good u r at cartooning expression… like the first one with the scrutinizing expresssion w the glasses & the way the two cup head dudes r drawn so that you can tell each’s personality. This goes for your form and gesture as well like whenever u do fullbodies the way you describe curves and poses is very nice… like the ability to convey that + like the body type you want for the character so that each one has a rly unique . Well. Character. That you have designed is very awesome. Sorry i realize this is the most technical thing someone could have said about your work but i alaways really appreciate when someone does form & expression/gesture very nicely its like yessss. I really like the sans + Wheatley one they Look a lot like the characters if that makes sense esp Wheatley’s little patterned shirt (its a really nice touch) & the way you translated sans’s expression to a human face. Very swag. Anyway since anon is off now i have to be mine own self so i hope this isn’t too embarrassing but yeah, always love seeing yr work & id love to see more chara design/original work from u in the future thumbs up see u soon

i think i need to take a break from drawing and art things,, but how :(

sort of been denying it but im just not having much fun drawing lately... definitely another "oh god i hate my art” phase going on but i think also maybe ive been trying too hard to improve?? it might be me subconsciously knowing that i only have less than a month before i get consumed by schoolwork and other life things so i feel like i need to improve as fast and much as possible before then... these past few weeks ive been thinking about drawing and practicing drawing nearly 24/7 and idk if that’s how it should be? it’s gotten to the point where ill feel the need to take a picture of my mom standing because i realize i suck at drawing fullbodies especially from the side,, or ill be washing dishes and go “oh i dont ever draw bowls or forks or chopsticks i should practice those”,, or i go into watching a movie thinking how i can practice drawing poses during it.. ill be looking down at my shirt and my brain shouts about how i still cant properly do shading or clothing folds. i can’t even remember the last time i went out with my family or friends when i wasnt thinking “ooh reference photos” or “omg i could draw characters having that specific interaction”. oh and of course the classic-scrolling and seeing all the beautiful art people have made and feeling completely overwhelmed at how much i have to improve on style/rendering/environment/everything?-wise.

Then when i do sit down to draw i feel so agonizingly frustrated with what comes out on paper like why cant my hand. just do the thing i want it to??? it’s just a LINE why is it so fucking hard and it’s so so tiring,, but at the same time there’s this gnawing feeling of the need to draw and practice because how else am i gonna get better JSKDFJKS i wish i could throw these emotions away and work until im good at,, all this

I absolutely love your art and how you color, I was wondering if you could give some pointers of your coloring process? It looks so clean and sharp and I have such a hard time with making it look too muddy on digital paintings

wahh anon thats so sweet of you to say thank you so much!! 🥰

going to focus on how i colour skin for this ask! also please note im specifically talking about colouring light skin here, the process for colouring dark skin would differ slightly (i.e. more highlights as darker skin reflects more light). colouring clothing is a bit more intuitive for me, i tend to just scribble about a bit on multiply/screen layers and see what works! (also as a note the drawing programme i use is the original paint tool sai)

ive slightly branched out into a more painterly style this year but the process is still more or less the same! i shade on multiply layers - there ends up being at least 3. highlights are done on sceen layers and again there tends to be 2-3. lets use this drawing i did lately as an example:

for me it just tends to be a case of figuring out where your lighting is coming from then build up some shadow layers! i tend to use a light purple or orange for shading. the last multiply layer i tend to use something like a dark purple / red and sparingly put it in areas where the light isnt hitting (i.e. eye sockets, nose shadows, inner ears, under chin). my multiply layers are all at different %s, the darker i want the shadows the highter the %. lets take a look at highlights:

im someone who loves looking at references! if you get stuck on where the highlights should go, looking at photos should definitely help. the main places i tend to put highlights are nose, chin, and cheekbones as they stick out and tend to get light bouncing off them, and forehead bc its a big ol' vast space of nothing where light tends to hit. again like with the shadows i build up the highlights and they tend to look lightest in the areas i just mentioned.

finally ill go in with the finishing touches which arent the same for every piece so i wont go too detailed here - i went in for a rim light around the outside of the face for this one as i think it tends to make the features pop especially against the darker shadows, and i also threw in a blue overlay layer at 25% over the top of this one for that melancholy lighting feel:

BASICALLY what this all boils down to is - i love to put every single tiny little thing on a new layer. i love using layers! i think using layers in your art might help making things looks less muddy, as the shading is all separate and you can mess around using different colour shades before you get something that feels right! if im drawing a fullbody with a background i tend to hit sais maximum layer count and have to start merging things!

also want to reiterate this is just how i do things and isnt the be all and end all. if you decide to do something completely different thats great - im always feeling at awe of people who do everything on one or two layers! ive built this drawing style up over many years and it comes very naturally to me now. i treat hair and clothes in a kinda similar way - i.e. building up multiple shadow and highlight layers.
