LOVING YOU WAS NEVER A MISTAKE

pairing: chigiri hyoma x fem!reader

genre: fluff, a little angst (i guess).

warning: manga spoilers! , grammars and lastly english isn't my first language.

note: used to write fanfics back in 2021. it was black clover haha. i was already on tumblr that time. i think i didn't really improved that much. idk tho. lowercase intended.

"i have always loved your hair, hyoma."

"is that so?" his grip on the water bottle tightens. he never thought he would meet you again after the u-20 match. he thought his 2 weeks break will be great. he had only finish his hangout with his blue lock friends.

you're still pretty even after a long time. your medium length hair now becoming a long length. your beautiful eyes and supple skin. how he wished to kiss you.

"i'm sorry for that time. i didn't mean to moved school without you knowing. please forgive me, hyoma. i missed you."

"why are you apologizing? i was the one who cut off contact with you. [name], never once have you made a mistake to me. i was the one frustrated because of my injuries that time. i thought you left me but i was the one who misunderstood the situation."

why were you even apologizing? why didn't you just left him like the others did to him. he was the one who shut you off first but yet here you are; talking to him first, apologizing to him first. you're just too kind for him.

you looked at him with sincere eyes. you really wanted to apologized to him. beg him to forgive you. on that day, the day he suddenly blocked you. you thought you did something wrong. you wanted to text him on other social platforms that you could but he blocked you on all of it. you were disheartened.

this time, you would not let chigiri hyoma go for the second time. you would hold him tight. tighter than before.

"can i hug you?" he asked you. he wanted to hold you. the time you were best friend, you were never touchy with him and he appreciates that. he appreciates how you respected boundaries. this is the first time he will ask you this.

"eh?"

you couldn't keep a straight face when he asked you that. chigiri hyoma asking you? to hug? him? the cold guy you befriended in school? you saw a blush forming on his ears, cherry red. you felt like you were going to burst because you still liked him. no, loved him.

without answering him, you wrapped your hands around his neck and pulled him closer to hug him. he was shocked that you were the one who initiated the action first. he hugged you back.

"sorry." he mumbled.

"it's okay now, hyoma."

the both of you pulled back from the hug. he saw your red face. she's blushing, he thought. you were just so cute. he couldn't resist you. maybe just maybe the two of you could hang out tomorrow.

"can i have your contact number back?"

"of course!"

ah, your bright personality. how could he forgot? you were so bright. that's the kind of person you are. but, you're now so elegant. the kind nature you hold. how lucky is he? having you by his side now.

he didn't mind riding the train with you. if it means spending time with you today? he would do anything. walking side by side. accompany you to your house. he loved you.

and you loved him too. of course, the two of you didn't confess to each other yet. soon enough, it will happened. you knew yourself that you would be the one to confess to him first. before all the moving school happened, you have always been the person to teased him in school because that's the person you are. saying everything that would make him blush.

you just loved his reactions.

"chigiri, did you know?"

"what is it, [name]?" he was packing his bag after a practice and you were there watching him. accompanied by something to do, he doesn't noticed your face smiling mischievously.

"you're very pretty, chigiri. much more prettier than me." he malfunctioned when you said that. he was used to hearing that by other people but hearing it from you? it was rare. you never told it to his face directly at all. it was the first time.

"stop."

"yeah yeah."

remembering the memories of you teasing him, you giggled quietly. he raised an eyebrow at the sudden giggling. he never know what's on your mind 24/7. he want to know.

loving you was never a mistake for him.

you can always guess what's on his mind. he was too easy to read or maybe you're just good at reading people? but the new him. it was hard for you to know.

but even though this is the new him.

what are your thoughts on the one piece fandoms vitriolic take on "spoilers"? ive never interacted with a fandom so grumpy about knowing anything beyond 'well there sure are pirates' like op fans. it makes me so sad to check out series reactors just for them to go 'ok so im not gunna watch the opening or ending, and we'll skip the title card, dont wanna be spoiled! =)'

like... you miss out on some of the best parts of an anime when you approach it like that. ops and eds are meant to tease whats to come and hype you up, yet op fans treat them like theyre plague rats =( and if these supposed spoilers ruin the fun of op, maybe you dont actually like op as much as you think...

idk! just wheres the love of fun! the enjoyment of teases! why watch the anime at that point???

SIGHS I think manga readers take it WAY too seriously. They go into the anime KNOWING what's going to happen, KNOWING what all this means - they have CONTEXT.

Someone who is an anime only will look at all this without that context, they can guess what they're seeing but they don't 100% know it. As you said, it hypes it up! I feel like when manga onlys get mad at opening spoilers, they don't realise anime onlys genuinely have no idea what they're seeing or what any of this means. And as you get further through the episodes, you can point at the opening and go "HEY!! I KNOW THAT NOW!!"

Apart from Robin joining which, I agree, probably should not have been spoiled in an opening - I haven't seen a single anime only complain about the openings 'spoiling' them. It's literally just the manga onlys yelling into air 😭

4. How do you choose which fics to write?

Honestly, whatever idea catches my fancy is what I want to write about. Or if I'm craving something that hasn't been written yet, then I'm like "well god damn it, looks like i have to do it myself"

6. What’s the last line you wrote?

He then reached up and cupped the back of his neck before he pulled him down into a kiss

“I didn't know anything about any gate code. And besides, I couldn’t have killed Matthew. I’m vegan. I would never touch raw meat” one woman argued as she sat before Eric and Walter, Walter testing her hands for animal blood. Eric hummed.

“Good to know” he grumbled as Walter shook his head.

“She is negative for animal blood” he declared.

11. Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around?

I tend to write scenes in order, it's very rare that I jump around, unless a particular scene is screaming to be written first. Then I'll usually write it and put it to the side to be pasted in later

12. Do you outline your fics? If yes, how detailed are your outlines? How far do you stray from them?

Honestly, my outlines are just the fics in bullet form. Like I will write the dialogue, the scenes, and all the lovely stuff in bullet form and then go back and transform it into the actual fic. But that's only for oneshots. For multi-chaptered fics, I will have like...the general idea for what I want a chapter to be about, unless I'm doing a multi-chaptered fic inspired by a tv show or manga. Then the chapters just sort of flow how the show flows and the cuts and what not, if that makes sense.

13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

I do, sometimes. But sometimes the music that I listen to either throws off my groove or throws off the vibes I'm going for, so I'll turn it off. Or it distracts me. But, since I'm currently working on a mafia au, I'm listening to songs that have that sort of vibe, so like

(her songs really scream mafia vibes and honestly, love that for her and me)

18. Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research?

I do enjoy my research every now and then. The fic of mine that required the most I would have to say is my CSI: Jing City au, just because I have to know some of the testing that they're doing and how to break down what they're doing into layman's terms. Of course I understand what I'm writing about, but most normal people don't have a background in forensics, nor do they have degrees in them, so I gotta make it scientific enough to fit with the story but in layman's terms so that my readers aren't confused by the procedures and what not.

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

Oo, good question. I usually title my fics after the writing process, but sometimes a title will just come to be before hand. As for how I come up with titles, I usually use like a dialogue or a sentence from the fic itself. Sometimes the titles are inspired by song lyrics, or my fics are titled after the tv show or manga I'm taking inspiration from

24. How do you choose whose POV to write in?

I like third person past tense to read in, so that's what I write in. I'm not really a big first person writer/reader (like if I see it's in first person, I nope the fuck out) so I don't write a lot of fics in that pov. Sometimes third person present, but only for headcanons

27. What area of writing do you feel strongest in?

Dialogue, I guess? It just flows so easily and comes to me no problem, so...dialogue. And maybe understanding the characters? Like, not being ooc? If that's an area of writing idk

28. What area of writing do you want to improve in?

Action scenes maybe? Because my Killer and Healer rewrite has a lot of action scenes and while I can see them in my head, translating that into words fucking sucks ass

31. Do you use a beta reader/editor?

Not usually, only when I've stared at a fic for too god damn long and I'm starting to hate it. Then I'll ask @ahhhnorealnamesallowed to look it over for me. She's honestly the best when I need a new pair of eyes

35. What’s your favorite fic you’ve posted?

That's not fair, I love all of my fics that I've posted...I can't pick a favorite

36. What fic are you proudest of?

Oh, 恨君不似江楼月 | Killer and Healer 100%. Just the amount of time, energy, and love I've poured into this fic...this fic is my baby and I love her

41. Who’s your favorite character you’ve written?

Ah, I love writing about Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi. They're honestly a packaged deal at this point. I can't choose one over the other, they are packaged. Do no separate. They're both just so complex and they work well in any au that I throw at them so...they're great. I love them

Just general thoughts on the chapter (jjk 236 leaks)

Be warned of jjk manga spoilers!!!

One thing I thought was interesting was why gojo said bye to the others even though he died? Judging by the imagery it does look like they're all gonna go to the same place (afterlife) and yet gojo still doesn't go with them. My only thoughts on this is either gojo is still alive (similar to the first time he fought toji), gojo as a curse (? Its possible but idk if he had any real regrets here) or akutami just wanted to do it that way (most possible one imo LMAO)

Another thing i found interesting was the sudden topic about gojo's father. We still have little to no information about the gojo family outside of satoru himself, so I'm more than interested to learn more especially considering how six eyes is bonded to tengen/the star plasma vessel and whether anyone in that family knows good ol' Lore

Other than that really, kinda disappointed in the fight. No I'm not surprised or even sad gojo died I've always been on team gojo will die somehow, it's just the execution of it was lacking. But upon reflecting on it a bit, deaths in jjk haven't always been satisfying really and they often come suddenly. The only death I found the most heartwrenching was nobara's (im on team she's still alive btw). Nanami was also a close one but he really just Died like that lol (don't get me started on yuki's death too)

It's a weakness to the story, which has become more apparent the closer we get to the ending and where the emotions need to be stronger to get a satisfying climax.

The issue with gojo's death is that it happened Right after his unsealing. To put it into perspective, we spent 130 chapters without gojo (91 to 221), whereas from his unsealing to his death was only 15 chapters. Now im not saying his death shouldn't have happened, but what I am arguing is that there was no real buildup for it to be satisfying.

Between those 15 chapters, akutami made a three month timeskip and we barely know what they did in that time. I know the whole point is so those things can be brought up later as a surprise (especially since whenever we do know plans for our mcs they always tend to go wrong) but at the very least they could have added some sort of emotional buildup to it.

Of course, one thing about jjk is that it certainly does not always feel predictable so who knows what's gonna happen. Like i mentioned earlier, its possible that gojo is in fact alive, and I would be more than happy if he fought kenjaku instead later, but also the idea of bringing him alive again is so....idk. It feels wishy washy (but then again yuji has also died twice so who am I to say anything right)

Anyway overall it was an alright chapter, I don't hate it but could have been better! All I'm looking forward to is sukuna vs yuji now (whenever that happens i guess lol)

* my personal, negative vent

as the continuation of my previous vent against some fan reactions: “Noe is terrible because he cares about Tarte Tatin more than Domi”.

* but I ended up talking about Jeanne a lot lol

(more under the cut)

* I’m sorry I might be overreacting to some very small minority in the fandom, and also sorry I couldn’t write things nicely and shorter in general.

* I myself sincerely hope this would be my last petty complaints in regards to this (Noe/Domi) matter, for real OTL

Ch 55(.5): *shows Noe/Vani (the main protagonists) reconciliation in detail*

Ch 56-57: *shows Noe/Vani conversation, including Tarte Tatin*

Some people about ch 56-57: Noe himself witnessed his childhood friend Domi jumping to die, and yet now he’s smiling at Tarte Tatin, not actively trying to go talk to Domi right away! Is Vani / Tarte Tatin thaaaaat important? Besides, why does Noe not demand an apology from Vani for insulting suicidal Domi?? What a biased selfish jerk, he doesn’t really love her!! Poor Domi deserves better!!!

Jeanne in ch 56-57: *herself witnessed her love interest Vani getting badly injured by Noe, and yet now she’s talking to Domi forever, not taking care of the physically wounded weak human patient Vani*

Jeanne in ch 58: *smiles at Domi and/or Vani and just leaves right away, not actively trying to go talk to Vani, not demanding an explanation or apology from Noe for hurting her beloved Vani*

Me: Ummm ~~according to their logic uwu~~, I guess now Jeanne is a biased selfish jerk who cares about Domi more than her intense love Vani? Is Domi thaaaaat important?? Jeanne is so terrible, she doesn’t really love him!! Poor Vani deserves better??? Can I say these now--

The SAME people about ch 58: Wow, why does MJ-sensei hate Jeanne so much? Why no long romantic Vani/Jeanne reunion scene?? Why not showing Domi/Jeanne conversation in detail??? Terrible writing choices! I’m sorry Jeanne, the author hates you T^T Jeanne did nothing wrong, I love you no matter how badly (mis)treated by the author!!

Me: So...it’s just that, they love Jeanne and Domi more than Noe and Vani (which is not wrong itself, but), and they simply decided to fully blame and demonize Noe at first (and only him, somehow lol) for the lack(?) of Domi and Jeanne? idk lol ://

Them, possibly: M-Maybe Jeanne already talked to Vani before the Noe/Vani roof scene! Unlike Noe!!

Me: In ch 58, when Domi finally came out of the room, Vani immediately became a blushing mess and tried to run away from Jeanne (who wasn’t actually there XD), remembering some sweet moments of her. No offence but...I believe SUCH dramatic reactions from him highly imply that Vani/Jeanne have never properly talked yet since Vani/Noe got attacked by Shapeless One, oops ^^;;; Vani is feeling awkward and acting awkward (similar to that day when he asked Roland/Olivier for some love advice) because...he still doesn’t really know how to be around Jeanne...because they haven’t seriously interacted yet, much less two of them...I think?

Besides,

to be petty, not pretty lol,

it seems they don’t believe Noe worried about Domi even in his mind off-screen because there was no(?) such explicit panel of Noe screaming, crying, throwing up for Domi after he woke up at the hotel. Then, ~~similarly~~, no reason to blindly believe Jeanne in fact earnestly took care of Vani, much less for hours, before Domi/Jeanne secret conversation started, either lol :/ Come to think of it...there was no panel of Jeanne screaming, crying, throwing up for severely injured Vani at the hotel, so it must be that she doesn’t worry about his wounds anymore now, even if Vani is supposed to be her important person uwu!! ://

Noe: *gets distracted by Tarte Tatin made by Vani, staying near Domi’s location*

Them: How dare he allows himself to get excited, when Domi is suicidal right there. He should’ve only think about Domi now, no one else, nothing else! No more stupid Tarte Tatin!!! He loves Vani, sure, but it shows he totally forgot about Domi and doesn’t take her seriously. How insensitive he is, ugh.

Noe: *gets distracted by JJ/Chloe guided by Dante, getting far away from Domi’s location*

Them: JJ!!! Chloe!!! Wait, why must JJ/Chloe leave now??? They should’ve stayed longer! They should’ve seen Jeanne, too!! Why does MJ-sensei not allow them to meet now?? Poor Jeanne, poor Chloe... We need more of JJ/Chloe!!! We need more of Dante as well!!! There’re still not enough of them!!! Did Chloe meet some other Archiviste person before? It’s a shame JJ/Chloe already left, and Noe missed them ;_; And...oh well, Noe got distracted by cursed Tarte Tatin again, ew. God forbid Tarte Tatin,.plz...

Sorry to repeat, but this will never not funny to me lol I guess this contradiction happened because they love JJ/Chloe/Dante/Jeanne more than Domi/Noe/Vani? idk uwu ://

I don’t necessarily mind seeing people complain about MJ-sensei’s writings or her characters in various ways. But it still depends, within limits.

In this case, I thought Noe was getting falsely accused too much in malice (before ch 58). Now ch 58 is out, and apparently the same people wouldn’t apply their ~~strict~~ standard(s) to Jeanne at all, rather quickly blaming that MJ-sensei must’ve abandoned(??) Jeanne... It’s not that I can’t understand character W fans would always crave for character W related canon contents, but...asdfghjkl

I suppose they forgot that the entire Amusement Park arc was never Jeanne-centric in the first place, and that MJ-sensei still gave Jeanne the MVP hero role who directly and indirectly saved everyone from the hopeless mess...

Not to mention Jeanne already has gotten a LOT of screentime and backstories so far, maybe even the most, except the main protagonists Vani/Noe. Domi’s backstories got revealed firstly thanks to Noe remembering his past in the early Bal Masque arc, and just recently in the Amusement Park arc.

Jeanne has appeared in almost every arc, compared to Luca, Ruthven, Loki, Dante, Amelia, Murr, and so on ^^;;; Even between the Jeanne/Chloe/JJ-centric Gevaudan arc and the Domi/Misha-centric Amusement Park arc, Jeanne still got her long, solid screentime (in regards to her Vani love).

Luca appeared very early, together with Jeanne, but he’s still forever waiting for his own (long) screentime XD In addition, the new arc started with “Archiviste” and “Chasseur”, sure, but I believe Luca’s ceremony is coming soon, too. More Luca inevitably means more Jeanne as well...so, no, Jeanne won’t be ignored! Also, the royal knight Domi would definitely appear, too!

I get that the hiatus was painfully long and recent chapters had been so short, but please don’t be too pessimistic XD

At first, I didn’t mean to write about Jeanne this much at all tbh when this post was originally about the Noe/Domi matter, but it happened XD Not that I’m complaining, it was surprisingly a good chance for me to think about her in detail, kinda :P

I was happy to see Noe hugging Domi tight and both being adorable cute in ch 58 ;w; The panels deserved to be much bigger ;v; It’s so beautiful that I could watch it for 5 hours uwu [insert the meme] XD

However, I was also sad and annoyed to unconsciously think “Now those people will finally stop accusing Noe and be quiet, hopefully” and feel “relieved” :((( *sighs* I really hope my fun and my Noe/Domi wouldn’t get ruined next time...OTL

I sincerely wouldn’t have minded seeing a lot of Noe/Domi/Jeanne/Vani scenes and conversations in detail, as the fandom wanted. But MJ-sensei didn’t show them so much, and I know many people don’t like it (and I don’t particularly blame them ^^;).

I personally don’t have a problem with the lack(?) of their intimate moments, maybe because my top fear had always been “Domi having to leave super quickly asap (again), like a gag” and the fandom exploding in anger XD Even other than this, I just didn’t expect to see “many” interactions of them...because MJ-sensei didn’t make such scenes before the long hiatus and she already published volume 10 at that time, wrapping up the Amusement Park arc “cleanly” that way.

I mean, I personally feel if MJ-sensei genuinely intended to put them there, she would’ve already included them within volume 10...but she didn’t. Vol 10 ends with chapter 56 (except the bonus pages), and the next vol 11 will start from ch 57. Ch 57 has JJ/Noe conversation about Archiviste AND the new Archiviste girl first appearance. So I suppose MJ-sensei really really wanted to make sure vol 11 clearly starts with Archiviste topic, more than anything else.

In any case, I guess I was quite lucky to have had low expectations on detailed “afterwards” scenes of the four haha Of course, I’d gladly enjoy them if MJ-sensei decides to show them at some point in the future :D

PS.

Will we...get to see Noe actually eating Vani’s Tarte Tatin on-screen...? I mean...he didn’t eat any of it yet, cuz Domi was out and Noe immediately stopped caring about Tarte Tatin, unlike those accusations lol Somehow, I...don’t have “high” hopes on this, either, even if I ship Noe/Vani, ooops...XDDD If we don’t get the scene for real, then I sure hope those people (who accused Noe) would apologize to Noe and Noe/Vani shippers in some form (of Tarte Tatin? XDD) lol uwu :’)))))

'Kay, I wasn't gonna get invested in either of those two assholes because they're both Red Flags™, but I have a weakness for estranged siblings in media and Rin and Sae are Something, okay. Both have a brother complex bigger than the sun but they seem to think they're perfectly normal and the other is the one with issues. Which is hilarious. Because they're both codependent trainwrecks, just stuck in a "I can do Just Fine without you. Don't you see how stronk I am?" denial phase

He lost his confidence that he has what it takes to beat the worlds' other strikers to the top, but when he explains that to you, he phrases it in a way that implies he thinks you can, and that he adjusted his dream so that you both can achieve it together

And then, perhaps the most telling thing: he only lashes out and "rejects" you when he senses you will lose your drive and give up on your dream as well if he's not there with you

And I get why Rin wouldn't realize any of that, I do. Sae pulled such an Itachi Uchiha in trying to make his little brother hate him to get stronger I'm surprised Rin hasn't unlocked a mangekyo yet, but still

Or maybe I'm attributing too much self awareness to Sae, idk. It's still up in the air if he's consciously trying to rile up Rin into becoming a version of himself that can take on the world, or if he just projects his past naivety onto his brother and takes it out on him when he sees him make the same "mistakes". But either way.

I thought Reo's breakup with Nagi was dramatic as fuck, but these two put them to shame. I've never seen two people create problems on purpose for no reason and then happily float in their own misery quite like this before. "Emotional constipation" doesn't even begin to cut it. They created a new entry in the DSM

So despite being an anime only that braves the paths of tumblr, I haven't been spoiled for anything big for Spy x Family… but that could very likely be because I'm guessing there isn't something big that has happened yet. By big I mean identity reveals, a character dying, twiyor kissing, idk, there's a lot of things that could happen and make the fandom change the way they speak and refer to the story.

But as I have been spoiled for a few things, I know that chapter 100 is a little around the corner, and with it being a big and important number, I don't doubt something big might happen in it. Honestly my guess is an accidental/impulsive twiyor kiss that just shakes them both and makes things more awkward because it would make Loid realize he has feelings and because of that he cannot pursue a relationship with Yor because it would be taking advantage of her, but really, it could be anything.

So with that in mind, I will actually have to take bigger measures. I blocked any spoiler tags from the beginning, but with the possibility of bigger spoilers coming, I'll have to filter any and all tags related to sxf. Ranging from main tags to character and ship tags.

I mean, I already wasn't seeing much. I wasn't visiting the tags, but now and then tumblr suggested posts from the tags and I would see a tidbit of a spoiler. But now I won't be able to see anything and it will really be me screaming into the void and the DMs of a few pals who know to be careful and not mention any spoilers.

That said, this might make me feel even more isolated, so I openly encourage people to send me fanart, memes, metas, gifsets, anything they find interesting and are sure don't include any spoilers. There's a bit of a hesitation, though, because when I first joined a discord server which I then left due to, you guessed it, spoilers, two different people suggested to me two different fanfics and said "Don't worry, they don't include any spoilers!" and what do you know, both included spoilers. I don't blame them since manga readers may have a harder time remembering what constitutes manga spoiler and what does not, especially if it's from a much older chapter, but it still made me very hesitant to reach out to anyone about that.

I'm not pressuring anyone nor demanding from anyone to do this. Just saying that, if you find something that's interesting and doesn't include any spoilers, and if you care to spare the time to send it to me, I'd appreciate it.

Anyway, just letting y'all know, or anyone who cares, that I'm really closing myself off of the fandom. I might even have to train myself to not look at users' avatars anymore. I really don't want any big revelations to be spoiled for me in that manner.

I just wanna talk about Anime!

1. Naruto

After watching Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and episodes here and there of Baruto, I just wanted to express my feelings towards this anime.

Some things to note before I start :

Opinions vary for everyone. When it comes to Anime, I feel like many are already drawing out their weapons, the moment someone says “Well I think ( insert any anime) is…” So please! Let’s be respectful! Let’s not be rude! Sharing your personal opinion and thoughts is perfectly fine, but let’s not insult others for their opinions, if they differ from ours!

I might curse a bit here and there. If you’re uncomfortable with that…uh…just imagine hearing a loud BEEEP, whenever you read it.

I finished watching all of the Naruto series! So! SPOILERS! WILL! BE! AHEAD!

What was Naruto to me before?

So, I’ve been watching anime since 2006. And even if Naruto never caught my interest at the time, I still knew about the Ninja Anime. Naruto in the Anime community, was and still is, very much considered an Anime classic. And little me at the time, was like “Eh. Sure”. I respected it, but never really bothered to look too much into it. One of the main reasons I had no interest in Naruto, was because of like…three reasons.

I was DEEP into Shojo Anime/ Manga. If it didn’t look cute and girly, I wouldn’t watch it. ( Ugh, I know! I’m sorry, and I have changed my ways! I’ve grown up! (T＿T) )

“ Why watch this long anime…when I can watch over 5 others? ” To younger me, it was about watching the most anime. Quantity is what mattered! Not stay stuck with just one, for what felt like decades.

The more I was told “ OMG! You should watch Naruto! ” the more I was set on NOT watching it. ( Idk what’s wrong with me（・□・；） )

So what changed my mind?

This might sound cliche, to the point where you will roll your eyes all the way to Asia, but the answer to that is…

A bestie of mine just started to one day tell me, and tell me, and tell me, and tell me, and tell me about Naruto. Until I finally texted her :

And that was the beginning of…a long…LONG journey.

So what happened? How did I go from “ I’m just gonna watch some episodes TODAY. See what the hype is all about. ” to “It’s New Years, and I’m about to finish Naruto…idk how to feel about this. I don’t want it to end…”

I’ll tell you what happened!

The world of the Ninjas

From the cool hand signs, to the many types of clans, I found myself amazed ( and a little slow to process it all ) by all of the depth that this world has. I really found the hand signs fun, and can see why so many Naruto Fans know them by heart. ( It’s so cool!!!! ) I really like the design of Konoha, and while 99% of the population were a bunch of ASSHOLES to little Naruto, Konoha is still cool.

Once we were introduced to the other villages, I’m gonna be honest, I really like The Land Of Lightning. The village hidden in the clouds, is SO cool to me! I love it!

But we also know why we stay for an Anime. And that’s it’s characters. Let’s get to the good stuff, okay? (ﾉ≧∀≦)ﾉ

Characters that made me stay

- Kakashi Hatake -

Okay, okay. Let’s just get it out of the way here, guys.

Kakashi is hot.

Yeah. Yeah, you heard me. You’re probably rolling your eyes, or saying “of course” either in your head, or out loud. But it’s true, and now that I’ve said it, let’s move on. I’ll fangirl about him another day.

He’s proof that you could have the shittiest life, been in the darkest place within yourself, and still grow to be a good person. Because that’s what he did. He was so broken, and empty. Yet he managed to find meaning to life. Showing and teaching others on how to improve themselves. He became the Sensei of some of the strongest ninjas of the Leaf Village.

Okay but seriously. The man lost his dad to suicide, and his mom is gone…idk what happened to his mom. Does anyone know? He lost his friends. Obito died in front of his eyes, causing some major trauma. Karin died by his own hands ( even though he had no fault on that ) but yet, guess what? MORE TRAUMA! He then lost his Sensei, and himself. His past was just so sad…and then he had to fight Obito after thinking he was deeeaad!?😭

He was not only a Sensei to Team 7. He was a FATHER figure, and no one can change my mind. While he could have checked up on Naruto before ( knowing that Naruto is Minato’s son, and that everyone in the village hated Naruto with a PASSION ) , he soon took it upon himself to care for Naruto. Bringing him vegetables, feeding him when he was hurt, teaching him about himself, and what it is to be a Ninja. Teaching him life lessons, and how to overcome them. He also believed in Naruto’s dream of becoming Hokage. Believed in HIM. With Sakura, while I didn’t see that much, cause Tsunade later on took Sakura under her wing, I know he cared for her too. He was there to comfort her, whenever Naruto and Sasuke had another one of their fights. He was thankful that at-least she wasn’t the one causing trouble. When it comes to Sasuke, I’ve seen some comments here and there, that Sasuke was Kakashi’s favorite student, but I honestly don’t really agree. Sasuke is clearly a student ahead of everyone else. He can’t be taught like the others! It’s just the truth. And who else would teach Sasuke about his Sharingan, if his whole clan was wiped out??? At least Kakashi had ONE! Surely he could teach him something! He was the only one!

- Rock Lee -

Surprise? Not surprise? At first I didn’t think people liked Lee, but my friend told me that he’s actually a quite popular character. That made me very happy!💚 (*＾ワ＾*)

Apparently, and correct me if I’m wrong, but apparently Lee was designed to symbolize human strength. And there is so much in that. Lee is a Ninja that cannot do Ninjutsu, nor Genjutsu. The only thing he can do, is Taijutsu. And boy, does he hold on to that. I am a SUCKER, for characters like him. The whole “I may not have what everyone else has, but I can still prove myself”. It makes him feel more human, and for me (personally) more relatable. Knowing that you lack, compared to everyone else, and holding on to what you’re somewhat good at. Going above and beyond to continue to keep that special to you, and working nonstop to be the best at it, cause that’s the only thing you think you have a grasp on- ugh! I’ll stop before I start crying. I just relate to that, and find him a very inspirational character. I love him, he’s like my son.

I also like his rivalries were mainly healthy. He never really hated on his rivals. In fact, he was friends with all of them! With Naruto? They comrades. With Neji? Sure, their relationship was a bit bumpy at first, but they eventually came to respect each other, as they grew up. Shira? They became BFFLS! Had me in tears! 😭 And don’t even get me started with Gaara! Even after all…THAT ( amazing fight by the way ) the two ended up being the best of friends! Like- would you be friends with the person who not only broke your arm and leg, but had you go through a risky operation, having you question your existence, and tried to kill you when you were asleep? Naaaaah! Nah! Lee is an Angel!

Oh! I also watched the Lee Spin Off series! Pure. Perfection. Highly recommend. My favorite parts, are when we get to see Lee just create random scenarios, and drags everyone around him into them. 😂

- Obito Uchiha -

Guys.

This boy…

My god.

There was no rest for him, ever since he was born.

I like to have this thought that everyone has their Uchiha. Many choose Sasuke, Itachi, Madara, Shisui, etc. For me, it’s him. Obito Uchiha. I find it hilarious, and again- SPOILER ALERT that when we were introduced to TOBI, I loved him so much. When he said he was “Madara” I was in disbelief, but very much enjoying the supposed twist. But then- surprise! It’s Obito! I was having the time of my life. I was an Obito fan, without even knowing it. He’s my favorite Uchiha, even though…yeah…yeah he did a bit of big oopsies.

I enjoyed seeing who he was, before life decided to be a bitch to him. Helping the elderly, his rivalry with Kakashi, his wish of also being Hokage, and being a bit of a softie (which I found endearing ). He lost all of himself, and like many comments I’ve seen “He was the Naruto that gave up”. And I see that. And it saddens me every time. To see that man, if Naruto would have given up…this could have been him. When Obito was ready to die, I was actually understanding of it. Unlike prior deaths in Naruto, with Obito’s death, I…accepted it. I understood why he preferred to die. He did too much harm, that he couldn’t possibly see himself being anywhere. He was going to die, while bringing the others back to life. But…that didn’t end up happening, and he was given some more time. Just seeing the contrast of who he was before, and who he currently was, was very bitter. Him pushing his old self away, and just being blinded by so much hatred and sadness.

Man, I just really his character. I like what he represents, and how without knowing, he in some way, influenced Kakashi, and Naruto. I also really like his design with the goggles, and all. So cute! (*＾ワ＾*)

The Fights That Had Me SCREAMING

They’re Ninjas! Of course they’re gonna fight! Good action, good execution, good choreography- Naruto Fights are one of a kind, and I always found myself at the edge of my seat with them.

Rock Lee Versus Gaara of the Sand.

THE LEE VERSUS GAARA FIGHT. Okay okay I won’t comment much about this fight-just go watch it. PLEASE! No amount of words can describe this fight! Not only do we see Lee UNLEASHED, but the animation, the music, the moves, EVERYTHING. It’s so iconic, and at the time, I bet it had the world in awe. My boi Leeeee!!!😭

Obito Uchiha Versus Kakashi Hatake

This frikin fight hurt me guys. While it’s so badass, and nicely animated, the addition of the past them and present them fighting HIT. HARD. Again, that moment when Obito pushes his old self back, is so painful to watch. It has my heart shattering into pieces every time I see it. There’s this part, that I’m obsessed with.

THIS! Idk why! I just find myself repeating that part, over and over. Is it just me!?

Madara Uchiha Versus The Shinobi Alliance

Yeah, Yeah this isn’t surprising…BUT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WHY! YOU MUST! All that hype that Madara kept getting, was about to be proved with this moment! And MY GOD!!!! The tension, the raw screaming of the Ninjas running towards him, knowing of who he was. And Madara just nonchalantly killing everyone he laid his eyes on! Did you see his eyes!? The immediate read! I- The METEOR-No- THE TWO METEORS. You cannot top this. This introduction to Madara Uchiha, will be forever engraved in my brain. Loved it. Just seeing the Meteor slowly falling, and seeing the scale of it. Everyone running-OH! And how Flying Grandpa (The Tsuchikage) and Gaara stopped it- had me jumping on the couch. Amazing, simply amazing. GO WATCH IT. Cause my rambling on it, does it no justice!!! 😭😭😭

Okay listen, one thing we can all agree on, when it comes to Anime, is that Anime Intros, and Outros, are a BIG part of it all. Especially the Intros. If Intro isn’t good, would you still watch this anime? What makes a good Intro song? Is it the animation? The lyrics? The artist? All of these come in to play, to create a masterpiece. An aid for an anime.

Naruto, has a lot of intros. BUT MY GOD- does it have triple the outros.

I’ve listened to all of them, and I’d just like to share my personal favorites!

So before even watching Naruto, I came upon this song on Spotify. And there was just something about this song, that hit. I am a big fan of Japanese Rock ( J-Rock ) , and Asian Kung Fu Generation brought it all out with this song.

I feel like it really catches the aesthetic, and the overall vibe of the Original Naruto Series. Hype, full of energy, and hypes you up for the new episode. I really love it, and even if I didn’t watch Naruto back in the day, hearing this, causes me major nostalgia. A mystery, I know.

Wind and Waves Satellite - Snowkel

( Seventh OG Intro )

It’s the start that does it for me. Seeing everyone get ready to leave on their next adventure, fills me with some type of emotion. I don’t know how to describe it. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s nostalgia, but it fills me with this kind of sad/good feeling in my chest? Something like that. It’s great!

Blue Bird - Ikimono Gakari

( Third Shippuden Intro )

Perhaps one of the top favorite songs out there, in the Shippuden Intro List. And I can see why. Or well- HEAR why.

It’s a bop. The vocals, the instrumental, oh-THe HARMONICA! That person goes OFF! 👏🏼

Diver - Nico Touches The Walls

( Eight Shippuden Intro )

At first, I didn’t really feel much for this song. It was alright…UNTIL IT WASN’T.

I found myself sudden listening to it, back and forth, and…I love it now? Yeah, it just happened, I don’t know how.

What I love about this one, isn’t only the song. But the animation of it. What we see, is Naruto falling, and simply sinking down deep and deeper into the water. This obviously referring to his current depressive state. He’s lost, and is beginning to give up. Then, one by one, the hands of all of the friends he’s made along the way, slowly but surely push him up. Naruto is finally out of the water, and when he looks down, he sees that Sasuke is also sinking, similar to how he was before. Seeing that he has no one, Naruto prepares himself to dive down for him. Remembering his goal again. Save Sasuke from the dark path he’s chosen, and bring him back to the village.

It’s beautiful really.

Lovers - 7!! Seven Oops

( Ninth Shippuden Intro )

I didn’t know how to feel for this song. But after a while, I started bopping my head to it- and then poof! Loved it. It’s good!

I like the part where there’s that explosion behind Killer Bee, and that glimpse of Sasuke’s smile. That unsettling smile, letting us know that he’s waaaay gone. It gave me goosebumps the first moment I saw it.

Silhouette - Kana-Boon

( 16th Shippuden opening )

I’ll admit, I knew about Kana-Boon before listening to Silhouette. I love this band, with my life.

It’s such a good song! Great! A masterpiece! That’s right! And it left its mark on Shippuden, as it SHOULD have!

It’s just so good guys. Highly recommend! ❤️

It’s one of the cutest stories out there, that is told. Just the beginning of little Naruto’s love for Ichiraku Ramen. Watching him grow, and just how many people go in and out…it’s so cute and made me teary eyed.

So I said I won't watch last week's ep yeah? But then my hateful curious @ss got myself spoilt for clicking into the 1st rec video of bnha latest episode spoiler on yt (and had stupidly watched the whole clip to the end 🤦🏻‍♀️)

I'm in pain so y'all bkdks gotta suffer with me too

You see the parallels?

Idk why Horikoshi drew them in similar angle and shots or if it's intentional or meant anything at all. I only noticed this while watching the clip and I had to find out myself if they really had the same scene in manga. And lo and behold

Another interesting thing is, even their action and thought process during those scenes are similar to each other.

Rock Lock evaluated their circumstances, decided it was too dangerous for a student to handle the mess they're in thus suggested Deku to run. Deku, however, was so furious and hot-headed atm had stubbornly refused to go. He was angered and frustrated to tears for unable to stop shigaraki from hurting his loved ones

We know that this is Best Jeanist's pov and narration. Bkg had broken an arm and should be away from the warzone to get himself healed (he's still a student after all d@mmit!) But guess what. Bkg's frustrated too and was stubborn to leave. He saw shigafo's tics and almost had it, but his current situation was just. All the pain from his injuries, from his face, from his right arm, from his helplessness to impose even a scratch on shigaraki. Ofc he'd cry too

There's 2 things to note about in the 2nd pic of dk but I'll get to that later.

First off, both of them were analyzing their opponent as they talk. I'm of the idea that Deku wasn't saying those things out loud for anyone to listen. He was most probably muttering to himself ie in an intense and serious way. Bkg was thinking probably two things at once: at the same time he was reminded of Izuku's view on him, he was muttering about his findings of the weakness of his opponent(the sfx behind him was often used as Izuku's muttering speech bubble). BUT IDK WHY HORI HAD TO DRAW THEM IN A SIMILAR FASHION WHAT WITH HALF OF THEIR FACE GONE

While sacrificing himself with his reckless attempt, bkg finally realised what Izuku had been through all the time (cue the 2nd pic from above--Izuku helpless and in pain yet desperately thinking and finding ways to defeat shigaraki)

His last thoughts was, ofc, still deku - Izuku. Of whether they could stand shoulder to shoulder after this. Of when Izuku stood in a picture, whether he could still stand beside him too, thriving and learning and growing alongside him.

I think Bakugou deserve that place beside Izuku. I believe Izuku must have hopefully reserved it since day 1

I was thinking for a while how I should handle my (critical) thoughts on ep 95 on tumblr. And I decided that I will use the tags and simply hide my explanation under "keep reading" so you can choose to continue reading or stop already. Maybe some will end up agreeing with me, others might disagree and think "man, you missed the point/you don't get it" - which is fine.

So what to say about ep 95? Firstly, my opinion hasn't changed after watching it with subs: I didn't cry, I wasn't even really sad which might be weird considering I do like Nishaw and the Velgearians. (and I have cried for or was at least feeling a bit emotional about other death scenes, even in ygo so it's not like I'm just not caring enough or even cold-hearted)

But Idk... them dying didn't affect me and it might be because the "wrong" people were there to see it happen. I know this sounds mean but Asaka and Tazaki over Yudias (and the twins)? Really? And before someone says "well duh, he's not supposed to know so ofc we get nothing of him in that regard" - well, I don't like. I had a feeling from the spoiler summary that they would go down the "we don't want to upset Yudias so lets keep quiet about his comrades dying, we mean well" road and I still can't vibe with that, no matter how good the intention behind it is.

So on one hand, Tazaki can understand the Velgearians' feelings but he also knows that Yudias should know what's going on. And at first he made me believe that he would go back to UTS and tell him the truth - but no, he changes his mind and asks Asaka if she can give him some of her employees to act as the Velgearians for a while which is a pretty meh plan imo.

Asaka's reaction to this is basically mine:

Ngl, for a while, I thought Asaka would stay with her opinion that keeping everything a secret is a bad idea since that's not changing reality and the grief would just be postponed - and I agree with her. But it's not like she's uncaring since you see in her change of expression that it pains her too what's happening but it is how it is.

And then I thought Tazaki might change his opinion even if he still has this dilemma of trying to respect the Velgearians' last wish and letting Yudias know.

So, did Tazaki end up siding with Asaka? Well, we get no answer yet because Nishaw randomly shows up, looking kinda frozen. Asaka goes into explanation mode and exposes herself as a hypocrite:

At least she knows herself that she's hypocritical.

But still, I'm disappointed. I had wished in her not changing her mind even though deep inside, I had this (bad) feeling she's gonna side with Tazaki eventually and say nothing. Because it was the most predictable outcome no matter if she had lost or won. (*side eye at Luge vs Zaion*)

Also: Asaka freezing Nishaw to prevent him from dying feels like coming out of nowhere imo. And if freezing was really her best idea then why didn't she ever think of asking Luge? You know, the guy who can turn people into ice blocks by letting them see his boring manga? (and he can still freeze people despite being transformed into a massage chair iirc) Did she think he would refuse to help her or immediately tell Yudias and co. about her idea? Ngl, I do wonder if Luge's ice would've been better to prevent the death of the Velgearians than whatever Asaka developed since the former is ice made by alien power so it might be stronger than what humans developed. But I guess I will never get an answer for that...

When the duel ends, Tazaki holds a dead Valvelgear close while Asaka can just look at them with sadness. I know that many people got emotional seeing this and here comes my issue that I mentioned earlier in my post: the "wrong" characters witnessed the deaths. I like Tazaki and I'm overall cool with Asaka but no way this duel didn't happen mainly for some "Asana vs Galient" nostalgia similar to Rovian vs Princess Minstrel being a reminder of Romin vs Princess G. Nobody can tell me it wouldn't have been way more devastating to see the episode ending with Yudias or Yuhi holding Valvelgear with a tear-stained face since those two are the ones with the strongest bond with them. Did Tazaki even have scenes with Valvelgear alone before this episode? I honestly can't remember if yes - which is why I feel like they did that scene of Tazaki wanting to feed Valvelgear like a baby at the beginning of the ep + him using Valvelgear as a duel disk (like Yuhi usually does) to show that they have a bond even though it was pretty stupid to use Valvegear when the Velgearians in it are dying aka are already weakened and so shouldn't have been running around and pushing things just to work as a duel disk.

Nishaw was barely there but considering how sad Yudias and co. already looked when hearing about the Dudi people dying, they would've been sad to see him die too ofc.

The episode ends in Yudias and co. being back to MIK, talking with Phaser about the Rush Robot. And the very last scene is Yuga caught on camera. We likely just got Yuga there because he's gonna be the reason for the Yuna vs Manabu rematch.

I'm probably starting to repeat myself but damn... if the episode had actually ended with Yudias knowing what happened to his comrades and Nishaw (and the next ep would go more into his feelings after hearing that) instead... I kinda doubt that ep 96 will give us much focus on him considering the duel match up we get but I really hope that Yudias and the twins getting the sad news told won't be done off screen or in a quick flashback. Come on, I need to see their shocked faces, their tears and potential screams because no way Yuhi will just silently cry. Heck, he might be so mad (and maybe even feeling useless again after he had promised Valvelgear to save them and failed) that either Yuamu or Yudias must bring him back to his senses. I can see Yuamu either "just" looking sad or crying but not in a loud way.

As for Yudias... I think there are two ways he could take the news: He either starts crying and blaming himself for not noticing that his comrades were already dying and be very down (which Asaka and Tazaki wanted to prevent) - or Yudias cries but surprises everyone by not being completely crushed by the news but is still determined to find a way to save (and now also revive) his people. After all, we just know that the Velgearians in Valvelgear are dead. What's with the Velgearians who are still on Velgear? Are they already dead too or still alive? Is anyone even caring to check on them? And there's Dinois, Myuda and Zwijo too ofc.

Speaking of Zwijo: I dislike how he's always gone and in the middle of an arc, he comes back because the plot needs him. Like why can't we get a glimpse of what he's doing in the meantime? Where is he right now? Did he check on Velgear? Did he have contact with Yuga? Did he find something relevant? Is he maybe already too weak to do anything? Why do we always have to wait for such information until he's the focus again? Is it so hard having a duel between some characters and still show on the side what Zwijo's up to? He's the main rival and a freaking Velgearian! His kind is dying and we don't have a freaking clue how he feels about it and where he even is.

So yeah, those were my thoughts on ep 95. Sorry if they sound mostly negative but I really wished the writers had done some different choices there. But let's see how ep 96 and the rest of arc 8 will be...

ok so fuck. i know i said i had thoughts but ah to put them into words FUCK

disclaimer: i’ve read the manga and seen 1998 trigun so i know whats up.

The Tesla scene. god. they made it much more gruesome and i loved it. KEEPING HER ALIVE ooooh that hurts. but i wish they had a whole episode to explain tesla, what the humans did to her and how this drastically changed the twins’ POV of humanity and their place in the world. bc god that scene was only like less than 2 mins long and i dont think they did her much justice. maybe they will dive into it more but i doubt it since they have to deal with A GIANT PLANT MONSTER

that thing is gorgeous btw. the animation style is so good, that doesnt need to be said but god the studio is using the medium so well. im sure some botany fanatic is gushing about the flora symbolism. and i’ve no clue how July will perish now. anyway, vash is gonna feel SO guilty after this. oh goodness.

VASH HANGING ONTO HIS LAST REMNANTS OF REM THAT HURT LIKE A BITCH FUCK. AND WHEN NAI TOLD HIM “i did this [The big fall] all for you” “so its my fault”. OH BOY I DO LIKE TO SEE VASH SUFFER BUT BITCH THAT FUCKING HURTS. man. seeing him as a husk, a void vash, and it hurt. and him asking if he knew meryl and roberto, fuck!! ouchie!! and also Knives reading the Bible and deciding “yeah humanity is fucked and heres the proof” is SO FUCKING FUNNY. lmao. the implications that he was inspired yet disgusted by the bible sm that he despises humanity and also started a religious cult. oh my god.

Wolfwood wasn’t in a hurry to leave. he didnt want to get involved but he wasn’t rushing to the exit to move on with his life. he was hanging around just in case. of what? idk. this tristamp WW is a bit more mysterious for me and i like it. He didnt make Meryl leave either. didnt bother to stop her. that says so much about him.

oh and poor meryl. for a sec i saw the vines unleash in the room and thought it was gonna be like that volume where she sees what Vash’s feels/sees bc she touches his feathers. i got so scared. bc damn it. every moment in the manga has its impact and trying to shuffle them around to fit this new story hurts me personally /sarcasm. again, i LOVE this new show. im thankful for this new cake but sometimes i see remnants of the manga and i miss the original story. anyway, i cant wait to see what will happen to July, WW and Meryl.

also wtf happy birthday twins i fucking guess. idk if it was hinted before but what a jumpscare. but not a terrible jumpscare as the fucking plants being impregnated by Vash or Knives of the fucking core or whatever the fuck. like yeah. i know the metaphors of motherhood and shit but fucking. i didnt need that imagery personally. and i dont wanna think about it anymore. yall can have it. whatever. it just makes me uncomfy, nothing serious lol

it seems like they keep touching, briefly, on plot points from the manga but not exploring them fully. and i get it. its hard to explain anything from og trimax in 22 minutes, much less 12 episodes. and also i cant blame them so much. maybe watching this live is skewing my view of the entirety of the show. i am definitely re watching this when its finished. i fucking love trigun. and so i won’t comment much on the event order or whatever. i should just let it go. Its a new show with remnants of the manga and its so cool.

.anyway last episode is the day before my birthday so yipee! bday gift for me lol
