uhm, i kinda hate this too. I'm sorry it's so short, it was supposed to be longer so idk what happened, I've been in a big writing slump lately ig.

“We are grown adults, Sirius.” Lily sighed and Sirius rolled his eyes.
“Grown adults that barely got to be kids before they were thrown into war and sadness. But guess what, Lils? The war is over. Now let’s build some gingerbread houses.”
Y/n smiled as she brought out two gingerbread house kits, one in each hand, Remus and James following behind her. The scar she attempted to cover popped from her face, but everyone ignored it. It was Christmas, it’s time to finally be happy.
“Alright. This is a competition. We have thirty minutes to make the best gingerbread houses and whoevers house looks the prettiest wins.” Y/n explained as everyone got their kit.
“I’m obviously gonna win, so don’t get your hopes up anyone.” Sirius boasted and James scoffed.
“Don’t even, we all know I will win.” He said.
“As if.” Y/n added as the timer began.
“May the best one win.” Remus smiled.
The group focused on their houses, the only sound being the Christmas music in the background.
“Hey, I need that.” James said, reaching his hand out to Sirius.
“Okay, but I got it first.” Sirius said, putting the frosting on his house.
James threw a gumdrop at his head, “Give it.”
Sirius’ jaw dropped, “You did not.” He said and threw a handful of sprinkles at James. James threw another gumdrop and Remus sighed.
“Guys, can we not make a me-” He was cut off by both sprinkles and a gumdrop hitting his face. He shook his head and threw a scrap piece of gingerbread.
The group broke out in chaos, sprinkles, gumdrops, candy canes, you name it, it was thrown at someone. People laughed and chucked things, and whenever something got in someone's eye they just laughed harder. The baby giggled in the background, only adding onto the joy.
“Oh my God, okay stop it! Stop!” Y/n laughed, holding out her hands to seize fire. “We need to- oh my goodness, we need to clean up.”
James scoffed and flicked his wrist, instantly making everything go back to their bowls and tubes.
“Now we can finish making our houses.” He smiled.
“That’s disgusting, all of that was on the floor.” Lily scolded her husband as she picked up Harry. James rolled his eyes.
Y/n smiled, “Oh, I love you guys.”
“I’m gonna barf.” Sirius commented, working on his house once again.
“Do it, I dare you.” Remus said, ruffling his boyfriend's hair who glared at him.
“You’re mean.”
“You love me.”
“I do.”
Y/n groaned, once again throwing a gumdrop at Sirius and Remus, “I’m gonna use my gumdrop ammo to take all you couples out. Be scared.”
“I’m super scared.” James deadpanned.

Notes | Another ittle thing. Tomorrow's will be longer. I was planning to uh, differentiate this more from the previous prompt but you know what. It works.
Also I now have plans for the whole of whumptober! Not sure I'll make it in october but still :D
They weren’t really sure how much time had passed.
Too long for being all alone in an empty room with no connection to the outside world. They were dying to know at least what had been reported of their - no, its - attack at the coffee shop, whether everyone they knew now thought they were a monstrous murderer on the run.
They probably did.
They kept trying to call upon whatever it was that had possessed them - there had to be some way to get answers, and there was nothing else there.
But it didn’t resurface. They were starting to worry they had imagined it. That it really was them who had done that, their mind now inventing excuses.
»Are you there?« they whispered in the loneliness of their room, over and over, increasingly desperate. How would that even have been possible? They must have imagined it. But they couldn’t have, they couldn’t have done these things- »Hello? Hello?«
Their captor believed it, believed there was an it there inside them, waiting for the next moment to strike.
But their captor had also locked them up in this empty room instead of taking them to the cops, or to someone who could help, had not come back to look after them. Maybe what he thought wasn’t a reliable reassurance.
»Are you there?«
They didn’t know what they expected. They were alone here. They had no one else to blame.
It was just them.
Until it wasn’t.

hi your riptide / killjoys thing sounds SO FUCKING SICK please tell me about it
prefacing this by saying i havent finished riptide im on ep50 ok evverything else i know is gathered from fics and from my dash so if it doesnt properly line up with backstories FUCK YOU DONT TELL ME YET. also im using a ton of kj fanon slang bc its what im used to, if you dont know what a phrase means just ask. ok anyway
the factions honestly line up pretty well?? the navy is BLind, the pirates are killjoys. high ranking navy officers like jays family are crows and exterminators. the boats are cars, the undersea is like.. maybe the lobby. tritons are droids for the sake of this ok (not often seen out in the zones, have a wildly different culture, etc) because i diid NOT want to have to worldbuild an entire faction of like. goddamn radiation mutants since the reason nobody can leave the zones is bc its surrounded by a fucking killzone. alright. so we're doing droids
whether or not chip is sandpup or cityborn is kinda irrelevant - he ends up out in the ones real fuckin early regardless and gets picked up by the black rose crew etc etc. but they get caught in a REAL bad clap with crows and he just has to fucking leg it and pray. that OR theyre cauht in the bombing of zone7 idk i havent listened to the oneshot and i dont believe in factchecking. whichever works. he ends up stuck in the zones, alone, at a way too fucking young age and nobody ELSE wats some ittle kid dragging them down so he ends up in the lobby and makes it work there instead. he has something to do with juvie halls? i dont know enough canon backstory to say much more but yeah. he falls in with tthem until he meets JAY!!
ferin family = scarecrows thats fairly obvious. higherups in BLind get benefits so shes never been on their meds (this helps out in the desert with being a better shot, bc she has no withdrawal shakes. same with drey) and just like. generally is allowed more freedom. but obviously with this freedom she realises BLind fucking SUCKS and somthing something her sister was a crow and died etc etc. also i think ava wouldve been fairly known in the city for being on BLind broadcasts. jay too maybe because i think chip teasing her for it is funny, and because obviously crows use fake names so the "ferin" name would be less known than her appearance. she visits the lobby fairly regularly but doesnt have the guts to leave until she meets chip
GILLION THOUGH. since im using droids we're Going to pretend here that in my version of kjs there are sentient droids that ARENT SEXBOTS. OK. WE'RE PRETENDING THOSE ARE A THING. he was probably a sentry or guard or something. robots are autistic so this tracks. but he gets kicked out of his post for some fucking reason and ends up just kind of. aimless in the lobby. he becomes VERY invested in the preachings of destroya. at some point, after jay and chip have left, he somehow manages to get out by himself and collapses in the sand in zone one which is how chip and jay find him. also ive yet to decid how to handle the plus addiction thing since thats. not really a topic that comes up in riptide. ill think on it maybe
um other than that.. as for names im . well gillion tidestrider sunds like a kj name its insane and punny enough. i have a lot of naming convention hcs that i cant explain concisely but ill just say chip only having a first name makes sense despite kj names being 2-3 words typically. jay im totally stumped on though bc girl she HAS to change her name and it should really follow the two word format and again. she cannot keep her last name bc anyone from the city would recognise the ferin name. so theres that. yeah thats all i got hiiii i will make this better when i catch up i promise

fencing update ~ equipment rant
I have three assembled practice ("dry") blades and three electric blades. (The "dry' blades just mean they have a rubber tip at the end and they do not have a wire running through them, so they cannot be connected to the scoring equipment.)
I also have several spare blades (three again, I think?) that are not assembled with a guard or grip.
At the new school I joined, they fence electric for the whole class. Not how my previous instructor back in the day used to run things, fwiw, which may be relevent in a second.
So, of my three electric blades, one is broken. When I audited my equipment back in November 2020 (when I first started writing the rebelcaptain fencing AU!), I found it that way. I don't remember if it broke at one of the last classes I went to 15 years ago, or if it broke at some point during storage, but that's how I found it. (After that I invested in some PVC pipes to protect my blades moving forward.)
Another blade is this kind of fancy one that I won at my last tournament at my club. (Not an official tournament, just one that my instructor ran for all his students.) It is very pretty; the blade has this blue tint iirc (I haven't looked at it since 2020). It hasn't had much use because it was a prize. But also because it has a slightly different angle to it than any of my other blades, and a part of me is like, "is this legal*? was this assembled correctly? was this assembled intended to be used or just a showpiece?** assuming it was legal when it was assembled is it still legal?"

So in other words I'm just a ittle weary of using it.
Finally we come to my last blade. This is the one i've been using the past four or so classes I've attended. Now, all my blades are old, and I couldn't say how much use they've gotten since originally purchased/received. I can guess the fancy blue one that I'm afraid to use ... wasn't used much back in the day either. But this one? No clue. I've been perpetually worried it could break at any moment.
Compounded with this worry is the fact that it just is slightly bent at the end in the wrong direction. Fencing blades usually have a slight bend and for me, as a right-handed fencer, that's usually a little towards the left, but this bends a little right. And I am fighting this bend every time I fence.
Last Sat the instructor kept telling me to fix my blade, "you'll hit more if you fix it" like yes. i know. this blade will not Bend. and i'm afraid if i work it too hard it's going to break.
so he was helping me with the lesson and he's repeating himself that it's not bent right and goes to fix it himself and I'm like, "yeah, I'm afraid it's going to--"
*crack*
"--break."
We examined it and it didn't *appear* to be broken and it functioned okay -- still scoring correctly and such once I hooked up to the scoring machine. But. I'm also a little worried that the moment I untape it, it WILL fall apart. (Typical to tape the... idk 5 or 6 inches at the end of the blade.) and I do need to retape it bc the tape is peeling.
All this to say -- I'm fast approaching the period where I will need to change out these two broken blades (assuming the last blade is broken) with my spare blades. AND. I. DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO IT! I don't know if my former instructor taught me and i forgot, taught me and I didn't pay attention at the time, or didn't teach me.
I'm a bit nervous about doing it right bc I'm sure it's complicated. I mean basically you have the button at the very tip of the blade, the spring that goes behind it, the wire that connects the button to the socket in the guard, the blade, the guard, and the grip. And like. also. I am not even sure if -- like I think you're supposed to make sure the blade you have will fit the grip and that the end point of the blade that screws into the grip doesn't poke out the end of the grip and. ;aksdf UGH
all this to say that I REALLY need to audit my fencing gear again and i keep intending to do it after my kid goes to sleep at night and EVERY NIGHT. it's like. 'but i'm cold and sleepy and want to snuggle under the blankets' and then here i am. like. UGH another night i did not audit my equipment. if i do not fix what i have I am going to have to use the fancy prize blade and hope that it is in fact allowed.

Jonny would make a *great* Hermes#in terms of the narrator and the narrator getting actually involved in the story too#and ike. you could also do Tim/Bertie as Orpheus/Eurydice#making jonny hades (encouraging bertie as eurydice to come to war (hey ittle songbird))#and as the toy soldier was the only other one involved in the moon war - that'd make it persephone#but TS as persephone doesnt really work here! i guess you could say its going between the two sides rather than above gorund/underground#ok like. there's also canon UDAD cahracters. that would be a straightforward choice. character from that album who are literally based on +#greek mythology and shove them in hadestown#but idk I can't write them well enough i dont think#mmmmmmmmmmmmmm im just Thinking Aloud

here’s some headcanons for them, keep in mind it’s been forever since i read botl and remember very little canonically about them
headcanons below the cut
They have different powers, despite being identical twins.
Castor has more plant based powers - he grows grapes in his mother’s garden to annoy his father, and he makes the strawberries in camp go wild. Dryads and satyrs love him because he loves nature so much
Pollux is great at acting and with that comes insanity. It takes him a while to master his skills but eventually he’s so good with them even a look can send you into a panic.
Eventually Dionysus has to keep him at camp while his brother goes out and does things
Pollux, much to his father’s chagrin, becomes a world famous actor, though he doesn’t do press interviews and no one knows where he lives.
Pollux and Mr. D never forget Castor
They carry on his memory by doing little extra things for fruit plants
The Demeter Cabin helps with this
Everyone assumes Castor was the gay one - he wasn’t. Pollux actually settled down with a roman legacy of Thalia (the muse of comedy)
They met at one of his half sister’s stand-ups
Castor, watching from Elysium, couldn’t have been more proud
Castor and Pollux are legacies of Apollo in his roman form. Dionysus has no idea and he will never find out
Their mother is a kind woman with a rooftop garden. She is strong and loyal, and she works at one of those wine making places. (idk wine sucks imo)
Castor and Pollux love their father - he may be a ittle tired and rude, but he is caring and he loves them more than most gods love their children

Did Jameson have trouble straightening his legs after the whole Brutus incident? Not sure if it works the same way, but after my shoulders healed from a bilateral dislocation, certain muscles and tendons were shortened so much that I couldn’t straighten my back properly. Maybe Jameson had to walk with bent knees for a while because the leg braces shortened his knee tendons? Sorry idk all the anatomical terms.
He didn't have to wear the braces 24/7, only when he was allowed out of the room Brute mostly kept him in. He was able to straighten and stretch his legs during the day while he slept, and sometimes would stay locked in the bedroom for days on end and so had time to try and work out the damage al ittle.
After his escape, he can walk upright but his knees start to hurt very quickly and he tires easily for a while. He struggles with lifelong leg pain as a result.

okay sorry one last thing. like you were SO right about all of that. and I feel like it just really shows how juno has always been the chink into his hard outer shell because he can't even stay mad at juno for like a full week after he comes back even though juno left! he literally cannot resist juno and it's SOOO!!!! I think another cool thing to note is that nureyeves little persona act works on the others. like yes they know it's not really the true him, and they know he's lying with his own agenda, but buddy is still the only one who really SEES him more than just being suspicious! and I really can't wait to see what ends up happening in the show, because I feel like nureyev trying to stubbornly wet cat his way out of the relationship he could have with buddy would be so funny. because honestly, they're SO much alike that i'm sure they surprise each other. appear to have it all together on the outside only to be a crumbling pile of filing cabinets on the inside?? idk I just really think it's so interesting to watch nureyev unfold like an onion under EXTREME reluctance. like when do we EVER get information about this man besides extreme situations!! he will NEVER offer it up because he has such a visceral, knee jerk reaction against being known! I was thinking the other day about how LITTLE we know about nureyev despite him being around for quite a bit. besides the little things like how he'll pause before a sentence, tell bad jokes, etc like juno does, we know NOTHING about him!! like it's just so interesting how such a compelling character could have almost like... no true background besides the one huge bad story with mag?? I just can't get over it. it's a delight to talk about this with you as well I have NO one to talk to this about. going to start accosting my roommate and making her listen to me at this point like I have THOUGHTS

AND LITERALLY TRUE EXACTLY !!!!! we either know massive massive traumas or small ittle tiny traits theres no in between yk . its a DELIGHT to watch him hes so fucking fun i just !!!! hes so !!!!!! hes the character of all time !!!!!!! and hes written so well because like yous aid we Barely know anything about him . and yet people LOOOOVE nureyev and think hes fascinating i think the tpp writers really did put the like .... Perfect amount of detail into the things we learn about him

This one I admittedly dont have much for, mainly because i keep going back and forth on a lot and idk if I wanna do a oneshot or basically rewrite the entire Baby Saga lol.
So similar to another fic of mine, this will be a partial retelling of episode 25 "Baby's Arrival" where Baby attacks Goten. But instead of Valese being there, its MarTen after theyre already engaged? or married?
Most of it plays out like normal but he resists the body control like Trunks did "get out of my body!!1" type thing, and not gonna lie thats all I got. That one is def low priority considering how much I have to work out.
As for Home, this one is another one thats like 80% done lol.
In that, its basically a ittle slice of life moment where Goten comes home from work and the twins + his wifey are waiting for him. Grandpa Goku kept the twins occupied all day cause their mommy had a much needed day off. And the twins are the definition of :D when they see their dad. Plus grandpa taught em a little trick and they wanna show him.
Its more of the usual wholesome stuff from me lol
