Another thing for new Tumblr users: Read Mores
We don't use excess spaces or ROT13 or anything to avoid spoilers here! We use a Read More cut. This is also handy for shortening long posts.
As of July 2 2023 (it can and does change over time, but mostly in where to find things) on desktop when making a hard return space in your post it pulls up the formatting menu for selecting images, gifs, links, etc. The last icon on the list--the straight line, squiggly line, straight line--is your Read More cut
On my iOS tablet app, the menu's found at the bottom of the post editor.
This lets you hide spoiler content and/or trim down longer posts, like long lists or longer fanfiction or character info or lore or whatever.
Now, this is also where your blog's customization comes in; someone clicking on a Read More cut will be taken from the dashboard to your blog post, to read it with your font and color choices. Please make sure they're actually readable and accessible. Even with only a minor astigmatism correctable by glasses, I've run into a LOT of unreadable blogs.
For readers, a way around this on Desktop is the XKIT REWRITTEN browser extension. Handy for a lot of ways to tweak your Tumblr browser experience in general, one of the options also lets you open Read More cuts directly on the Dashboard, which can be a lifesaver if avoiding badly formatted or inaccessible blogs.
Another strong word of warning: Read Mores link back to the original post. Handy if you want to Edit what came under the cut. But also--if you delete the post, or change your blog name/URL, it may break the Read More link on reblogs. The information is either gone or unable to be found, due to how Tumblr structures posting and reblogs, especially in the older text editors. This is often why you'll see people advocate not putting image or video descriptions under a Read More, even if they get long. Other vital information on a post can be lost this way as well.
So go forth without stretching your mutuals' dashboards or worrying about spoiling folks who haven't filtered their tags/words properly!
(Speaking of: please use filtered words and tags for things you don't want to see or interact with!)

Always nice to hear from you, thanks for sending me this! Haha, I'm sorry there's no update for "Backs to the Wall" this week (and no replies to any comments yet either *slaps my own wrist* naughty!) but I've had so much going on with the festive season in full swing, and trying to meet up with friends to exchange gifts and such! I knew it was going to be a full week, and it's culminating with a dinner party I'm hosting tonight, so it just seemed best to not exhaust myself trying to stay on top of writing as well!
I will be off work for 2 weeks over the festive period, however, and I shall be home for all of it so I'm planning to get lots done then! Ideally I'd like to get a few chapters ahead of myself, so I have more time to edit properly between posting, but I'm sure you'll also get a bonus chapter as well, just as a little gift to the folks reading along!
I'm so glad you're enjoying it, it's been such a fun idea to explore and now I've done an actual, real life, proper outline I think this fic is going to be ongoing for a good long while! Knowing folks are reading it and having fun, and all the encouragement from everyone just makes me want to write better and faster, always! So really, I'm the lucky one to be part of such a lovely fandom!

An Appeal re: Anon Asks
For the last week (although honestly, the last six months), I've been having conversations on and off about the responsibility of answering asks on your blog and the impact it has on fandom as a community.
At some point during Season 2 of Lone Star, the Anon asks, in particular, got truly out of control, and it's only gotten worse over time. Your blogs are your blogs, and I respect that. At the same time, as a fandom community, we share this space. Whether or not we all know one another, we're all coexisting in the tags and on this site. It takes a lot of emotional labor and time to filter and block on Tumblr, especially when folks don't tag consistently or correctly. Like many in this fandom, I also want to have fun while I'm here, but it's hard to do that when there seems to be little to no discernment in answering asks or properly tagging them.
When it comes to unnecessary negative comments on fanfic, we often say, "it's not hard to close out of something if you don't like it." The spirit of that applies here, too. It's easy not to answer an ask, especially an Anon ask.
If someone isn't putting their name on something they're asking you to post to your blog, I would argue it requires an additional second and third look and careful consideration of how you answer it. (Certain asks are answered flippantly and then tagged for all to see, but that is an entirely separate post I won't be writing).
Everything you share gets eyes; how many depends on how loud of a voice you're considered in the fandom. And it's been my experience that the louder the voice, the more substantial the likelihood you'll find problematic Anon asks in your inbox. Answering these asks on your blog gives them a platform, and tagging them gives them an audience outside of your followers. If you're a "big blog," it increases the odds that some of us will also be subjected to these problematic asks through reblogs. All of this broadly impacts fandom conversation because now it's deemed acceptable to send XYZ type of ask, use XYZ word(s), bring up XYZ topic, or talk about XYZ actor(s) or character(s) in any type of way.
The whole "this is Tumblr, it's not that serious" argument is privileged because some of this stuff is serious for someone like me (and others in this space). I can't just pretend someone isn't implicitly making it seem okay to say certain things, especially if their blog is looked at as a popular fandom source.
This ask is just one example of what I'm talking about:
It's the use of a racialized fetish term, and honestly, it's super cringe. Seeing this in the show tag is deeply uncomfortable as a Latinx person. What was the point of answering this ask and then tagging it? It serves no purpose and hangs out in the show tag like we all just throw it around (we don’t). It's been brought to attention, and still, it lingers.
A fandom community should be safe and fun for all, but we don't live in a perfect world, so it takes work. Part of being in a community and doing the work is kindly holding people accountable to make it that way and being willing to have constructive conversations when concerns are raised. It's not accountability if you only show "remorse" when your friends bring something to your attention, and then nothing changes.
Accountability also ceases to exist when the fandom community chooses deep avoidance, handwaving things away whenever someone tries to share a concern. I have no idea why this keeps happening here, but I do know that every time it happens, it is profoundly isolating and makes it clear that fandom is only meant to be fun for some. The rest of us have to either put up with it or leave.
If that's the message the Lone Star fandom intends to send, it's being received loud and clear.

EDIT: so the person who left these tags on an earlier post of mine obviously decided to come looking through my posts and found this. They sent me an ask requesting that I remove the screenshot of their profile (sans username) because it made them feel uncomfortable. Now, I'm not one to be needlessly cruel but... honey... it's on your publicly visible profile. And it's not like I gave away your username so no one's gonna be coming for you. Also "please don't bring my identity into this"--again, you've made it publicly visible. Trust and believe there are going to be LOADS of people who are more than happy to use your identity against you in far, FAR more unkind ways. I should think you would be interested in learning as much as you can from the older members of the queer community but--I get it, newly minted adult, you know best. Us "old folks" have outlived our usefulness in your eyes.
If--as you say--this was just a moment's irritation, well... it sure seems like I got WAY under your skin. I'm afraid you're in for a LOT worse in life if this was all it took to bother you. I suggest learning to pick your battles, learn when to just let it pass on by, like leaves on the river. But, I have complied with your wishes. Your profile says your 22. I'm going to assume that's accurate. To a lot of people, you're still just a kid because you're only just out of adolescence. You think because you're a newly minted adult that you have a complete and multi-faceted understanding of the world. I was there once. I had my "I know better than everyone and I'm going to change the world!" phase. I had my pizza-cutter phase--all edge, no point. I had my "the world is a terrible place and it should all burn down" phase. I had many other phases ranging through age 15 to 28.
WE ALL HAVE MOMENTS LIKE THIS.
When you get older, your perspective changes. It happens LITERALLY to everyone--if you're open to growth. If you adhere rigidly to what you believe when you're 18-22 by the time you're in your 30's, then you haven't grown.
Your priorities shift. What you find attractive shifts. What you find unpleasant shifts. Heaven forbid you actually figure out what I'm on about because then you might... *GASP*... have to change your mind!!
I say this with all the love and respect that anyone who is part of the queer community deserves--you WILL understand when you're older.
Right now, you're not even old enough to rent a car. You might still be in college, or maybe you're working a shitty job (because almost universally... jobs are shitty, I work a shitty job), but you have not lived through enough of the world to have amassed enough experience to properly understand why the whole "you'll understand when you're older" is so fucking powerful.
And it never stops.
10 year old me didn't understand what 15 year old me understood.
15 year old me didn't understand what 20 year old me understood.
20 year old me didn't understand what 25 year old me understood.
Certain things have not changed of course. I still believe in fairness and equality and that people who actively seek to harm others should be stopped and punished. I still believe that everyone is entitled to live how they wish to live so long as no one is being harmed.
I have however grown in certain ways. I've learned a lot more about what racism is and looks like and how it can manifest. I've learned a lot more about the queer community--especially because I was a late bloomer in that regard. I've learned a lot about politics and how the systems we live under are structured for specific purposes and those in power intrinsically work to reinforce them, no matter if they know they're doing wrong or if they think they're doing good.
Growth is necessary. If you aren't growing, then you're stagnating. And if you're stagnating, then you're dying.
Trust me. I really do mean this, and in no way disrespectfully because you clearly are so deeply bothered by this, and you may have people telling you this to dismiss your identity or your attraction or your very existence as a person... you will understand when you're older.
Experience is the greatest teacher--because it comes with a wide array of tools, including failure, embarrassment, and revelation.
There are still a great many things I do not understand, that I'm sure will come as I get older myself. I don't understand how my parents could possibly fall into right-wing conspiracy talking points. Perhaps as I get older, I'll better understand what pushed them into it--and I'll be better guarded against it myself. I used to not understand why someone would want to turn on their heated seat in the car in the middle of summer when it's 90+ outside... then I started having back issues as I got past a certain age. I didn't understand a lot--even just five years ago--that I have a better understanding of now.
That's the funny thing about time. It moves forward whether we like it to or not. Ten years ago me probably wouldn't have been as big a fan of Bluey as current me. Bandit isn't just a good dad and husband. He's confident in himself. He's satisfied with being cool-but-uncool, because he knows that chasing what's 'cool' is ultimately self-defeating and he just... is. He has flaws and imperfections and even has a temper. He's not an idealized figure up on a pedestal. He's comfortable with himself--with his life, with his identity, with who has grown into being.
I WISH I had even a MODICUM of that degree of zen sensibility.
These things may not be that important to you right now--at least when it comes to looking for a partner or being attracted to someone, but if you let yourself grow, and you let go of the superficial, and you find what really matters to you, you'll see that yeah... you did find out that you understood, and all it took was getting a little older.
Maybe I'll learn to be more chill about things. Who knows? I guess I'll have to find out when I'm older.

Somesys with the username buttfuck69420 and an anime character picture will get you much further than midnight-dream78 and a picture of your face or your cat. We'll actually be sharing some pictures that you can use on the house from us if you'd like to!!! They're just some little edits we made on the spot for the sole purpose of this post.
That being said, feel free to spam your cat and your face on your blog otherwise. Although most people here use it for more obscure or niche bullshit. We talk about our endogenic multiplicity for example when we think of stuff, and reblog literally Anything our headmates find shiny. Some people literally just run an aesthetic blog for scene or goth or pretty sunsets or literally just a single color like the color pink. Some people put their religion on their blog weather that's wicca or chirstianity or hinduism or anything else. Some people leave their blog blank besides the pfp and a note on their pinned post and bio stating they only interact from their side blogs (as long as you leave that note ur good)!! Like, the sky is the fucking limit here.
Tags are for organization and if you tag something like #MyHeroAcademia but it's just you putting on makeup unrelated to cosplay/a skit/if it isn't MHA themed, that's called spam and is not only against the ToS on this site but is just considered incredibly incredibly rude. Like. Most folks here are more likely to block and report you for that. If you want engagement with anything you tag properly or do not tag at all.
There's no algorithm! Well, there is a small one these days but it sucks, almost everyone on this site hates it that's been here for awhile, and most traffic is run by you and whatever you make or reblog from other folks here.
If your joke or shitpost breaches containment (most of you would call it going viral?) there is a good chance it will still be circulating the ecosystem of this hellsite thirty years from now. Almost NOTHING truly dies here and we very much mean nothing.
There is reblog and there is queue. Reblog to share something immediately and use queue to share it later! Be aware that queue posts still take up a spot for your 250 overall posts and reblogs for the day though.
Because this is an introductory post, we are doing No Nuance November in May. Reblog =/= repost. Reposting is generally very rude here and takes away attention from the original poster. Reblog instead. Tumblr specifically gives both you and the creator engagement.
Tagging people in shit is fun and amazing and people love when you tag them on shit here. Sending in asks is fun and amazing and people love when you send them asks here. Infodumping on a random post on your blog is fun and amazing and people love when you infodump here.
There IS an option for a private side blog but there is caveats: firstly again it has to be a side blog so it can never be the initial blog you made first unfortunately; secondly even if you tag stuff in it there is no way to reliably use the search function in a private/locked side blog. Okay? Okay.
Anyways, now that the boring part is over, we can give the class some goodies in the form of profile pics! They're just some random edits we made on the fly for the sole purpose of sharing them here for you all to use, but we also have them on our edits sideblog or on our picsart (which is in the "source" link in the veeeery bottom left corner of this post) if you're ever curious about that. I was tagged by the spectacular @romirola. Sorry this took so long. I am bad at life.
There is a snippet of my feral Dom Gavin fic. It's really just the set up, hasn't been editing and is honestly complete trash -- but it's a WIP so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"No way you could handle being in my head."
"Oh really?" Gavin purred the phrase against his Deviant's lips, making the little teasing smirk they had been wearing falter for just a second.
Their spike of arousal flickered over him, little sparks fizzing against his own aura; and he had the passing thought of pushing their sweat-soaked body back down onto the mattress and chasing that feeling down. Instead he continued.
"I can already sense your feeling Deviant. Every lick of arousal, every quiver of anticipation." He nipped at their bottom lip, already swollen from his earlier attention. "How much more could it be?"
His Deviant shock their head, their nose bumping playful against his own, and the sexual energy mixed with the honey sweet feeling of joy and… affection. His own heart fluttered as they grinned wide, gently pushing him back so they could meet each others eyes properly.
"You have absolutely no idea." Their laugher felt like bubbles bursting in his chest.
"I know you, and that … wonderfully sensual imagination of yours. " Gavin could feel his own smile stretching to match theirs. "And I'm an sex demon. I've experienced far wilder pleasures that you can come up with."
"Its not about the creativity Pretty boy." They rolled their eyes, like this was completely obvious. Shuffling around, they shifted onto their knees and now it was Gavin's turn to lean back as they crawled over him, their eyelids dropping low as prowled up his form.
"Its about…"
Their fingers ghosted over his collarbone, trailing goosebumps in their wake.
"the…"
Those fingers travelled up his neck to skim over his draw. He could feel their breath against his lips.
"...tension."
And with just one hand, they shoved him over. Caught off guard, Gavin gasped as he toppled back, his Deviant giggling as they pounced on top of him, arms and legs bracketing him on either side. He should flip them, take back control of this situation; but they're grinning and it tastes like strawberries and cream on his tongue, a whisky heat of arousal warming his gut. Do he agrees, Just to see them glow.
"Bring it on deviant."

“So I made a tumblr.....now what?”
Not to worry, tumblr has some handy stuff here once you get used to it all. Let’s start by figuring out our blog situation.
“Yeah I like to reblog stuff but I also worry about having the type of posts I create be lost in the toilet seat of my brain with all the reblogs and random text post I make.”
Well the good news Timmy is there are a few features people use to keep their own uploads nice and organized from their 4AM reblog session where they question when they lost control of their life.
What I myself started to do and what many other users also utilize is the fact that you can make separate blogs. If you go to your top right on your account settings you can look down on where it says Tumblrs and “new”
From there you can just name your blog and give it a URL and you are done!
A lot of artist use this to make an art blog and literally just post their artworks there. I myself still make my art posts on my “main” blog but I reblog all my art posts onto my art blog. You can do this however you see fit but keep in mind that your secondary blog you just made is unable to follow other users. That all has to be done on your main blog so it’s a good idea to use your main blog for keeping in contact with people. (slightly off topic but you can also hide who you follow if you want too.)

Here’s one of the things I like about tumblr......the magic.....of tagging~
You should be tagging all your posts you make on tumblr. Here are a few uses of the tag feature so you can see why they are so useful.
So about all those art posts I made, let’s go back and edit the post. (Yes you can edit your posts after making them. It’s beautiful)
go to the bottom right of your post and click on the little pencil buddy. From there you can edit your post including the tags
I made a unique tag for all my art posts and use this on any art I made myself. just by clicking on it I can search this tag on the main dash or even just on my blog space making it easy for me to bring up all my art posts any time I want.
besides for your creative uploads you should tag your reblogs too, use tags such as a name of fandom or series, a characters name, a hobby, art or photography, text post, and yeah you get it. The point is tagging is very important here.
Now for posts you don’t want to see you can filter tags in your account settings
scroll down to content you see and you can enter tags you don’t want to see. For me I started tagging undertale au tags because a lot of them also use the tag “UTAU” and for us vocalsynth folks that is very much not the same thing. Sorry Undertale au fans. I respect you but I want to see Kasane Teto not Sans undertale *megalovania starts playing*
Speaking of your dash you can edit how your dash shows you posts on your timeline. I hear most users tend to turn most of these off but the only one I find didn’t work that well was “Best stuff first.” this isn’t really an algorithm site but hey these are here to use as you please. go into your settings and hit dashboard and scroll down to find this

Well Jimbo the last feature I want to talk about is the “Pinned post��� feature. You are able to make a text post with stuff like links to other content or info about yourself! It’s pretty easy and the pinned post even appears on the mobile version too. Simple make your text post and then just click on the three little dot guys to the top right. You can see the “pin” option there
It should be noted though that if your link to all your art posts is a search tag of all your art tags it will not open properly on mobile. This is why I made my art blog and just reblog my art posts there. I can just use that art blog link in my pinned post so all my art work can be found easily.
Just real fast before I close I do want to say that on desktop you can edit your blog page with custom themes and make them look real nice or easier to navigate your posts but i’m a monkey brain that knows very little about that so I only want to mention it.

When it comes to your original fiction did you post them on tumbler before making them available as an e-book. I want to write original work but am scared of posting it on here or a03.

I actually personally (I can't stress this enough, this is a me thing) really hate posting (and reading) fic on Tumblr. You can't tag it properly and people can't filter it out effectively, it's a pain to read (lots of scrolling), and it's a pain to archive. So that was definitely never an option for me!
My original novels never went anywhere before they became novels, partly because if you 'dry run' stories like that, Amazon and other distributors can get tetchy and say it's no longer a first edition and sometimes even pull your ebooks offline without enough paperwork, lol. So I just...would not do that because even if it all works out, knowing how other authors have been treated re: this issue, I would not!
I'm a big believer in just kind of taking the leap and putting fic up wherever you feel comfortable. If that's AO3 or Tumblr, then do it! The fear is normal, it is a normal part of writing, and a normal part of facing that gap between 'only I've seen it' to 'now other people will see it.' The good news is you can always delete the fic if you don't like it. On AO3 you can delete any comments you don't like. But those kinds of worst case scenarios are incredibly rare.
What's (sadly) more likely is just that not many people will necessarily read it at first, until more people start finding your writing and your tags, and that can take a little time!
It can be good sometimes to sit down and really figure out what you're scared of re: posting a story. Because a lot of the fears have concrete answers:
Scared of people hating it? Most people will just click away if it's not their thing, and if they try and make it your problem, you can delete and/or block everything to do with them.
Scared no one will notice it? Well, that is actually a normal part of writing for almost all of us when we just start out. You're part of a huge community of writers experiencing exactly the same thing you are. You are never alone as a writer, even when it feels lonely. Sometimes you can find Discords and similar groups to get more notice, but often it's just a matter of taking the time to put more words out there.
Scared someone will be mean to you? Understandable! However, you don't deserve bullying from anyone. Block these people and then go find a space that feels good to you or watch something that feels wholesome or go outside or do something that doesn't feel 'chronically online.' (It's amazing how much trolls don't matter as much when you're looking at a sunset, or eating your favourite food).
These are all pretty universal fears in writing (and the arts) before posting something, and after posting something, and I wish I could tell you they'll all go away one day, but I think what happens for many of us instead is that we learn more tools to deal with these fears. It helps knowing that most folks get them to some degree, and most of us have learned ways to deal with them - that's why authors will tell you to block trolls and delete troll comments, and that's why authors will reassure you that they started out in a place where no one noticed them at first too, and that's why authors will sometimes talk about how folks have been mean to them and how they were impacted by it, but also remembered to ground / reminded themselves who their real friends are - and that doesn't necessarily stop the fear and the pain, but the solidarity can help.
Post your writing on Tumblr (ignore my personal thoughts on Tumblr fiction, that's just my feelings and they are not universal lol, lots of people love Tumblr fics), post it on AO3, post it on Tumblr first and then AO3 later!
AO3 is a great place to put fics, because you can write about anything and put it up literally any time, and even orphan it / make it anonymous or delete it if you want to. You have complete creative control.
You'll never get to see what's on the other side of your fears if you don't take the leap.
But it's also okay if you're just not ready yet. :)

Tagged by @midnight-octopus !! I don’t know if it’s just Dragon Age OCs or not but I tried to stick to my canon (ish) Dragon Age folks (although I have a lot more xD)
Setah Mahariel (she/her) my canon Warden, died at the final battle, and romanced Merrill and Morrigan. She was very young, very protective, and took up the mantle of leadership with a lot of youthful martyrdom. Despite that, she was a jokester, athletic, and wistful. There is a tendency of those who know her to romanticize her memory, but she was a person, stubborn and rarely listened to others advice.
Mena Aeducan (she/her) is the warden I actually played, so in Canon I have her as the Warden Commander in Awakening, and did travel a bit with the others but I am always iffy there. Political, manipulative, and scheming, but also lonely, romantic, and yearning, she is someone who threw herself fully into the work of being a Warden and making the Wardens (whether or not that was correct) a political powerhouse. In Game she romanced Gorrim and Zevran, but in her canon she was pretty hung up on Gorrim, and went through Sten, Zevran, her advisor in Awakening, and many other lovers, including an occasional Will they won’t they with noted author, Varric Tethras. She does not seem to be keen on settling down based on her actions, though she always says she wants to.
Mariah Hawke (she/her, but honestly is fine with anything), six feet tall, and an enormous presence, she was a once shining, bright flame, full of earnest kindness, single-minded bravery, and an awkward sense of humor and romanticism, now is a broken, wretched person, trying to rebuild themself and her family out of grief. A lot has happened to Mariah and she is not equipped properly to deal with anything healthily—but she is full of love. She and Fenris have twins together (on accident) and while she didn’t mean to leave him in the night with them to chase Corphyeus, she thought it was her responsibility. She considers Bethany, Fenris, her children (Malcolm and Elena), Merrill, Isabela, and Varric her immediate family, and would do anything for them. While Fenris is the love of her life, Varric is her soul mate. They three of them are very understanding of this dynamic, but as we near Dreadwolf, it’s Fenris’s turn to leave for heroics, and Mariah is the one who is left behind. She is not coping okay.
Horns aren’t possible in this 😭 but here is my Babygirl, my everything, Sula Adaar (she/her). A dreamer, a romantic, thrust into leadership and finding that she took to it naturally. Accidentally adept at the game, not a believer, but accepts that people want to see her as the Herald and embraces it (arguably too much), and wants to keep everyone safe so much that she takes far too much on her shoulders (the Well of Sorrows for one thing). Marries her beloved Thom Rainier, and in the eight years until Dreadwolf, has one Gwenyth “Jenny” Adaar-Rainier. Sometimes I like to play with her falling to the dark side with what I like to call Mythula.

Happy WBW! So there are two magic types in your wip? I just read the whole crystal gods one and how it's charged, but how does it work? How do these two magic types different? How big of a role does magic play in your stories anyway and what do you like about it? :D I'm a magic nerd sorry @writingonesdreams

I love every one of your questions, so I’ll try to answer all of them. However, my magic systems are still in their alpha phases so :D there might be some (or a lot) holes. Anyway, here’s what I’ve got already! I'll cut this here to save some you some space on your dash hehe.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM
So, the crystal magic works in a little tricky way. This material kind of acts like a hivemind. If you have a connection to it somehow, you have connection to all of the pieces people broke from the original skeleton.
Since humans don’t have a direct connection neither to the material, nor to the magical energy, the first thing they need is a piece of this crystal attached to their body. Our crystal (dark) mage Darmon for example gonna have an eye replaced with this crystal. That kind of the core what’s purpose mostly is to make the connection happen, so it doesn’t explicitly require charging (but it will be tho, reasons below). Then, they also need a crystal spike pierced into someone that has the energy, so it can drain it and every piece can charge itself. Now, the mage has the connection and they also has the energy contained which makes basically telekinesis capable. A crystal mage can control the charged crystal pieces so long as they have magic inside them and they have one piece attached to their body.
The magical energy is gonna have a different color beause it’s a decaying energy from the point when it was forced out of someone’s body, and it also gonna shape the crystal into a violent shape when it charges it. It will make the crystal pieces more sharper, piercing, deadly.
SOUL (?) SYSTEM
Onto the ancient system which only differs from the crystal one in a sense that it doesn’t need a container. In the times long forgotten, humans had only a handful of people who were graced with the ability to hold magic inside themselves. It was a blessing of a charitable god who especially liked humans. These Keepers were able to leak magical energy when they got physically exhausted (so they were trained to be fighters), what the Shepherds (who were trained to be mages basically) could guide and use for a lot of stuff, including healing too. (They don’t needed crystals because gods were still around and helped them to learn these things without those. But this is one of the holes I couldn't fill properly yet). The energy, also, can't be seen by human eyes, so they had some ability in the past to get through this opsticle, ANYWAY back to the Metalsea stuff lol.
The new folk does leak this energy too. But, since the knowledge of this ancient magic system were lost through the years, they don't know about any of the stuff above. One of our MC however will find some crumble of information about it and because of the driadlin's changing eye colour, she's gonna start to see this energy. Yeah, I guess the eye colour changing needs some explanation too, but I'll leave that for another time :D. The point is that she's gonna see it, investigate after it and slowly learn the ancient way of guiding this magical energy and heal, boost others etc. Not sure what's it does exactly, yet, but yeah, these two stuff is kind of what I want to keep for sure.
MIXED STUFF
The draar developed a cultural tradition that unintentionally mixes the two stuff. It includes attaching this god-crystal to their body in places where they were injured. So, for example if your arm was so gravely wounded that you can't use it anymore, then there's a very painful ritual that you need to go through to get this crystal basically merged into your body. It's gonna be a part of you (in contrary with the humans whom body incapable of completely merge with the crystal), fills out the wounded bit and it's gonna be almost eternally charged because the magical energy is inside the draar, so it's cricling in their body through the crystal. This gives them a boost in the ability they're the best, ergo if someone can punch hard then they'll be able to punch harder, like a wall-breaking-with-a-single-blow lot harder.
They can gather a lot of energy in the crystal and basically have an own Kamehameha. After using this "ultimate ability" tho, the crystal stays empty for a little while, because all the energy that were inside that and the body were used up together to burst out into a big mass of boost. That results in sudden exhaustion, slowness in motion etc. SO that's why our team's gonna work well, because with the MC knowing the ancient system and seeing the energy, she can direct magic into their drained crystals in a non-violent-neither-morally-questionable way.
Oh, and the energy the magical folk leaks also contains the best ability of the ?leaker?. You know, the one who the magic came from lmao. Which means, if someone's crystal gets charged by another person's leaked energy, then they get their best ability.
That's how Darmon's gonna be a pretty good fighter even tho he lacks actual training. Because our main villain will charge his eye crystal with a good martial artists energy all the time.
Aaalso, this is more a of a side note, but I'll talked about this in another ask, so I feel the need to include: The main villain's capable of this ancient guiding the energy ability, but he advanced it into a level where he can rip out the magic from someone's soul and leave them hollow. This, however has a very big price which I'm not totally sure about yet, so I'll talk about that later in the future. What sure is, he can't use this ability all the time.
Ay, this got waay too long, so I'll end with the last two answers. I think magic will play a pretty big part of the story based on the things I just wrote down lol I just realised too while I was writing. I love magic systems but I suck at forging my ideas of them into coherent stuff, so this is something I need a whole lot of time to develop. What I like about these tho, is their limitations. :D I always fall in love with the limitations of a magic system, they can be very interesting!

UPDATE - October 17th, 2022
Hello, everybody! I’m back with another update! A HUGE one, if you will. So buckle up, buttercups!
First and foremost, I’ve kicked off my academic career again as of today. After hemming and hawing over what I wanted to do for the last five years, I’ve decided that I want to go into the field of television—specifically, doing radio and podcasting. My family is behind me 100%, especially my granddad, who didn’t hesitate to tell me that my hobbies will have to take a backseat to my studies, which is reasonable, of course! That doesn’t mean I won’t disappear off the face of the earth, but it does mean that a few things will have to be put on hold until I finish my courses.
Those things will NOT be Blazin’ Trails, or Attero Dominatus, or Dimmed Stars, or FLaG Remastered, so don’t worry. A few other big projects that I had in mind, such as Eclipsed Horizons (the HI3rd/Hanna-Barbera crossover) and SRBA Reloaded, will have to be put on hold until studies are done, and of course when I complete a few other projects. Plus, regarding EH, I want to finish up the Elysian Realm chapters so I can figure out how to adapt the story, as well as get a few more H-B series so I can figure out who to adapt to the roles; at the moment, everything is so disjointed that even working on the story is giving me a headache. The Einherjar Files will probably continue, though, but as for the other stuff, that’ll be on hold until a later date. Hope y’all understand!
I do have plans to participate in NaNo this year, and after much deliberation, I’ve decided to focus my attention on completely rebooting the For Love and Glory series in the same manner that Blazin’ Trails is being rebooted. Haven’t figured out a better title than “FLaG Remastered”, but I’ll probably figure it out a little bit later on. All I know is that this story is going to be much, MUCH better than the original, and I hope to release it (after it’s been edited properly, of course) on the original’s 5th anniversary!
I’ll be reviving a few of my original fiction accounts such as FictionPress and Inkitt sometime in the future. I have an idea for an original story that I’m excited about for the first time in a long time, and I can’t wait to get everything together so I can put what’s in my head onto paper…and hopefully, get it published!
And last but not least, I’m planning on eventually moving some things over to AO3. While I’m skeptical about the whole “FF.Net is dying” thing, I’m taking what some other folks have said to heart, so in addition to backing some documents up, I’m going to post some other stories that I’ve had in mind for years on there. I quite enjoy the tagging system that AO3 has a lot better than FF. Net, and I plan on branching out into other fandoms, too. So, be on the lookout for that!
