Black Clover hot takes, part ?/??

I am breaking my silence.

I kinda hate the way that the reveal was written. (Ch. 332)

If you've read any of my works before, I do like to play within the canon as closely as possible, but this is the one thing about YamiChar canon that I outright reject. I refuse to believe that Yami is as clueless about Charlotte as he is written out to be.

Like, you can't tell me that this man, who had a gut feeling that William was the traitor after one interaction with Patri, was unable to tell that Charlotte had romantic feelings for him. There's just no way that Yami's ki-reading is that bad.

What I do think—and perhaps this is just me projecting—is that Yami has been living in denial all this time. If you think about it, everyone in Clover, save for Julius/Nacht/Morgen, was afraid of him when he first arrived. Foreigner with rare magic that is antithetical to what is considered the ‘best’ magical attribute? Immediately cancelled.

So to have the canonically most beautiful woman in the whole country, whose brigade's motto is basically "Men ain't shit until proven otherwise" showing signs that she's into you is probably super jarring. If everyone you've ever known hated you and looked down on you, you would probably think that it's a joke if a woman of Charlotte's stature could possibly love someone like you.

So I hate that Yami's contemplation in the toilet made it seem like he had been clueless all these years. There's probably?? still time to fix it, but I think it would be more interesting if Yami had known about her crush all along, and just refused to believe it because it was too good to be true.

Don't get me started on the fact that nothing happened after Spade...

It had been three months since the “hotel incident”. Finally, you texted him. You weren’t sure what to expect from him, but you were ultimately relieved by his response, and didn’t wast a single moment on making your way to him.

With each step you take, a small splash sounds beneath your feet. Rain patters on the ground, and you pull your jacket closed in an attempt to shield yourself from the cold gust of wind that blows through the night. Each stride is powerful and determined - the truth is, you like Jenson. What once was a deep disdain for the man has somehow formed into a blossoming adoration for him. Miscommunications and mistakes lead you down the wrong path with him, but ever since the night of the “hotel incident” — as you, Jenson, and your team call it — you haven’t been able to see him in a bad light.

“Look, i’m sorry,” Jenson says, his expression softer than it had ever been towards you. You were almost offended, thinking he was about to try and make you feel bad, but that wasn’t the case. “You’re more than welcome to go - actually, i’ll pay for your hotel room if you want to leave, but if you’re choosing to stay, i’ll give you your space.” It was unlike him, at least, the him that you knew. He seemed remorseful and genuine, like you and him were anything but rivals. It made your heart beat just a little faster in your chest, and you couldn’t deny how strangely right it felt to be in the same bed with him. Even sharing the room was almost natural.

You turned away from each other to change, but both of you were guilty of peeking over your shoulder. Your eyes lingered for longer than you’d ever admit, but the same went for him. Neither of you could muster the courage to say anything, to address the tension between you both, and despite what should have been an awkward atmosphere, you both found yourselves comfortable in each others presence, even with the weight of your forbidden thoughts.

Not much happened after that, truthfully. Things did change though. Suddenly, his presence didn’t irk you, and you could never get on his nerves. You worked together more willingly, almost volunteered, and through those minor changes, you both came to realize how wrong you’d been about the other. Sure, Jenson had his moments, but he was sweet, a genuine and polite guy. You weren’t entitled the way Jenson thought - in fact, you were humble, kind…and how could he ever not see just how beautiful you are?

He doesn’t know the answer to that, but now, knowing that you’re moments away, he finds himself anxious. In a good way. He’s excited to see you, and he laughs to himself about how ironic that is given how he used to dread seeing you. A knock on his door draws him back to reality, and he knows it’s you. Outside of the hotel room, you wait impatiently, and breathe a sigh of relief when he finally opens the door. Instanly, like an instinct, you step forward and wrap your arms around him, nuzzling into his warmth. His reaction is just as instinctive, and he wraps his arms around you, guiding you into the privacy of his room.

For the first time, you talked. Not yelled, not argued, just spoke to one another. It was a completely different experience for the two of you, one that you never thought would come of your relationship, but it came to you naturally. The warm touch of his hand holding yours, the somehow assuring and slightly intimidating way he looked at you as you spoke, the way he didn’t just listen to you, he heard you. And, you did the same for him. Though he didn’t have much to say, you listened and heard, and soon, you felt as though you’d only just met him, yet known him for years. Not the rival Jenson, but a Jenson you could get used to, one that you didn’t back away from when he leaned in.

It was a small, sealing kiss that he placed on your lips. One to really ensure that all of this was happening, that things were changing between the both of you, and you both accepted it, with a weight lifting off of your shoulders.

He’s also just curious what you’re going to ask for. In his mind, the assumption is it’ll turn into a shopping trip or him getting food for you, but if the challenge gives him an excuse to dedicate himself to pleasing you beyond that? Oh darn 🤷🏻‍♀️ Seonghwa’s the same, very romantic and he’ll probably briefly turn it into some goofy role play of a butler in love with a prince(ss) 🥲 but really he just loves seeing you happy. If you ask him to do something he enjoys too he’ll melt because it’s YOUR challenge and you still want him included 🥹 so down to give you the full spa treatment so take advantage!!! He’s so giving *ahem* in every way, so saying yes to whatever it is you want will surely be his pleasure. He too imagines what you might request and gets really surprised and big eyed if he’s far off hehe~ Hongjoong is a little less ‘at the drop of a hat’ as the other two, but he’s a spoiler for sure 💅🏻 down to buy you whatever you ask for and really takes the whole concept as a challenge. He’s proving himself worthy a little in his mind, so half of him is like ‘whatever you want my love’ and the other half is like ‘come on, ask me for ANYTHING, see that I’ll do it’. Will tease you especially if you request anything you’re shy about or that you feel is too much, either asking you to repeat it or just getting a shit eating grin/smirk on his face 😏 anything he gets you will probably be the most cool/extra version and any treatment requested will be dialed to eleven on the romance, like you want a new outfit? Designer 😌 want a massage? Full candles and rose petals.

Wooyoung is also down to please, but he lowkey gets a little jealous and wants a turn! Like he’ll perform for you all day long, but would love it if you showed him something back. That’s about the only downside, though: he may try to influence your decisions or teasingly ask if you want something he just wants to do or give you, especially if it’s anything relaxing or intimate. Just let him join in and he’ll be happy! He’ll also buy you whatever and if you go out have a hand on you all the time because this day is all about showing off that you’re his! Yunho is down for this, though he jokes for you not to abuse it. He doesn’t fully understand it, asking if you’re not satisfied or doesn’t he do this already? But he’ll indulge you, especially if he gets some enjoyment out of it 😉 Being a gentleman, he likes paying for you already, so the day is a win in his mind as a chance to take you out and share only the best of meals. The best model, too, like feel free to use the outing as a chance to dress him up, he’ll work it and look great while making you laugh with his ridiculous poses! Jongho is also a bit skeptical, like it seems kinda excessive in his mind so he shakes his head at it. But at the same time, he’s very giving to those he loves and trusts when he wants to be, and you’re his exception for all the romance and affection. He can’t stop shaking his head and laughing at your requests, but he does them with no complaints…but teasing for sure! Will gladly sing for you if that’s what you want, we all know that! He considers himself a romantic, so like Hongjoong he’s going to go all out on very traditionally romantic versions of what you ask for, especially more intimate requests!

Yeosang is lowkey like why should I? Mostly joking, he just is confused why he’s becoming your butler like did he do something wrong? No, it’s just a challenge? He is very clear that he doesn’t want to get requested to do anything super cringey. Teases you if you want him to sing or dance for you, like don’t you see that enough? But ends up melting if you just ask for extra cuddles or attention, a big smile crossing his face at the thought that you could have anything and that’s what you want most. Gets softer as the day goes on and is down for whatever end to the day even if he has ideas. Mingi is highkey scared, like what are you going to make him do??? And what if he doesn’t want to do it? Secretly he likes being the one in charge, though he can’t deny his love for your smile and your pleasure. He just wants to do it on his own and not feel forced to do it. It’ll feel more real and not like he’s your butler. But how much he warms up depends on your requests, whether he’s at your beck and call or you want to spend the day in bed, dote on him back. If it’s more the latter he is sold, reverting to the total yes man and forgetting all that it has to be authentic stuff 🫡

Do u want to talk abt ur ocs..... I actually followed you initially bc they seemed so interesting and silly and I want to know more if you feel like sharing :)

I still can’t believe some ppl follow me for my ocs bc it’s usually for my fanart so this is really nice to hear! I have a couple stories/universes but the main one I’ve been…developing (it’s on and off) since I was like 13/14 is about these two kids named Keiko and Rolin!! Im still doing a lot of world and lore building but the main gist is that Rolin is a teenage boy turning 16 who returns to his hometown to live with his aunt and meets a strange young girl named Keiko (debating on making her 10-12 idk she was originally 10). I won’t go too much into like Lore stuff but she has like..my own version of clairvoyance. They are kind of opposites, with Rolin being introverted and jaded, and Keiko being loud and optimistic but they are both silly.

I think it’s been said before but the whole driving relationship of the story is the two of them going on adventures throughout the city and solving mysteries while simultaneously becoming family and finding a real home within each other and the people they’ve met and learned to love 😚

Now the story is centered around Rolin and Keiko, but a big focus is on the cast of characters that fill mostly Rolins life. Mira and Artie were friends with Rolin when they were kids before Rolin left with his mom, and all three grew up and have been living their own lives, but when Rolin comes back they get a chance to reconnect (with Keiko’s help). Valoryn (Val) is also new in town, and befriends Rolin and Keiko. This is just a messy fast doodle of them I have better art in my oc tags🙏

The other major cast is Rolin’s family, and Rolin has always been Asian so as I worked on the story his family kept getting more and more relevant especially with a major theme of the story being about the connections you have with people in your life so like I can’t leave them out. And I’ve never settled on an Asian ethnicity until recently where I was like I might as well make him Filipino so I can base his family off my own🫡 Cousins (both blood and not) that are years older than you but treat you like siblings and give u silly nicknames 🫶

Now Diana (or Deedee) is one of those characters I’ve had for a long time, and I made her because I liked those laidback mentor figures in anime (like Qrow from rwby) and wanted a laidback lady one 🤷🏻‍♀️ she also has some Misato from nge influence. She has always been written to be a mentor figure to Rolin and Keiko, and at one point I think I was going to make her his actual aunt but stuck to her being just a cousin so I could write about her relationship with her mom 🫶 Unlike her brother Darius, she does not live with her mom and Rolin has to go out of his way to meet her.

And Rolin’s parents’ story aren’t the main focus (they aren’t really present themselves in the main story) and it’s mostly just flashback stuff but they r silly and sad and I love drawing them 😼

I’m gonna share this to make you all feel better (cough @vivaislenska cough, saying you’re not an artist, haha). This is the first thing I’ve drawn in… idk. Years. But I liked today’s prompt in my guided journal and figured I’d try.

There’s something so soothing about pencil and paper. And so baffling how I can totally see how I want it to look in my mind but then actually making it come out is a totally different thing. 😂😍 Is this how new/unpracticed writers feel when they have a story in mind and can’t get it out? 🤣

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Not crapping on anyone. Just throwing it out there to hopefully encourage anyone who feels like their work isn’t good enough, cause we all start somewhere. 😂

Tried to draw me hugging myself. Hands are hard. And faces. And proportions — my hips are NOT smaller than my shoulders. And I apparently have some Jesus hair and a Hunter tattoo. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️💕

Idk what that anon wants you to do. Give them your likes or what? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm not a good writer myself. I'll write poems here and there, sometimes I get an idea and make it into a headcanon and one time I wrote a fic for Miguel but... I wrote it for myself. Because I wanted too and if it gets likes? Good... If not, oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️ It's not a good mindset if you write only for likes. At least that's my opinion.

I started this blog with 0 followers. 80% of my followers are from writing for Miguel. I am not pulling the numbers I was when writing for him, but you can be damn sure I'm happier now than I would be if I forced myself to continue writing for him just to get more engagement 🥹

I write for myself and post it online because I want to share it with others who can potentially connect with my works. Of course not everyone will, but some do, and that's fucking awesome 🩷

been thinking about not only selling my old content but also making new content for sale.

talked to daddy about it because a) gotta bounce ideas off someone else and b) he’s my partner so like his thoughts on it matter to me. and he basically offered up doing partnered content? which got me actually excited because I feel like a lot of what held me back (aside from uhm… me being me and being a general failure at everything and also maybe the strategy I was using/people I was associating with) was being completely solo. there’s only so many ways you can fuck yourself, you know? (also daddy is a perv so he’s got lots of fun ideas)

idk for sure yet. still mulling it over. and I gotta do research on where/how I would sell, if I wanna do stuff different, and depending on where we are gonna post it figure out what kinda stuff needs to be done for more than just me. I never looked too deep into any of it because it wasn’t really ever a possibility before. so… idk. I’m just excited.

also this won’t be happening like… next week. we haven’t even planned another visit yet. :( (which sucks cuz I miss him a lot even tho I’m a lil scared to have him stay at my place because of my neighbors lol)

idk. this is just something I’m thinking about and am happy about and wanted to share it with y’all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hello again, it's been a while! (since the last rants after the homophobia thing haha) I just wanted to send you and all the previous anons much love and support! I also hope that all these discussions will be seen as the humble brainstorming / sharing of experiences and ideas that they are.

As for all that was discussed before (loved the rants btw), I've said it before and I'll say it again: many people don't see stories as carefully woven threads / creative tools made by humans, they see it as tropes and mirrors. I feel like at some point experiencing stories has stopped being about "how do these things connect and what kind of interpretations can you draw from the source?" to become "what does this story says about / how can I make this story about me, myself & I?". And it doesn't help that this take echos one of the most common (but also very cliché ngl) thing that can be said about what a story is (I think we've all heard something like "stories help us learn things about ourselves").

If we go from there, what can you say to someone who sees their reflection in a story without looking or sounding like the "bad guy"? After all, how dare others question one's identity? Surely they must be some kind of puritan evil and a "x-phobe"!

I saw discussions on Twitter saying a few years ago that some people have cannibalized "leftist" jargons so much that they end up sounding like the very conservative they're trying to push back against and now "social justice" in many communities (esp in fandoms) is used as a weapon to police what everyone does in their corner, even if they're not bothering anyone else. It's too bad imo that in the court of social justice and its jargon, bullying and harrassment aren't treated as serious offenses, but I digress 🤷🏻‍♀️

Going back to the "people love tropes" thing, while I find it sad that it often seems they do not see anything beyond these tropes, a huge part of the blame definitely lies with the creators / companies providing this content. I agree with you 1000% that Mihoyo knew what they were doing with Alhaitham and Kaveh, what with how popular the phrase "and they were roommates!" has become. This is also why I hate when fandoms tell people like the bi anon for example that they should just "find other people like them in the community <3", because it essentially means "go be a killjoy somewhere else and spend your time dodging the content you don't want to see". I'm also not a big fan of popular fandom activties (shipping being at the top of the list, even if technically I don't mind hearing people talk about their hcs and interpretations, so long as they do it respectfully) so I understand how restrictive the experience can be.

And finally, the Kaveh situation. Both you and the anon made great points and frankly? Thank you so much for addressing all these things! Nothing irks me more than people going "omg x behaviour / outfit is SOO gay". I know it's supposed to be a facetious little joke originally and I'm also not here to bring justice to the pixels, but after hearing this so many times I'm starting to believe that many people genuinely think that you can identify a person's orientation just by looking at them. What happened to "traditional / straight men should embrace their 'femenine' side"? Idk, I think about this a lot and I've yet to truly gather my thoughts on the subject, but I do feel like this way of going about these things is a slippery slope leading straight into stereotyping territory.

Also, I feel you both when you say you don't think kavetham is a viable ship. It's of course a matter of taste and people are definitely allowed to play with different dynamics (healthy or not). I just think it's also a case of latching onto a trope (opposites attract maybe) and rolling with it. I've been friends with people whose personalities were drastically different from mine, and while it was fulfilling because we were constantly challenged by each other, let me tell you that this constant was also EXHAUSTING, to the point that it sometimes felt like having to walk on eggshells to keep the balance stable. So yeah, while I can see the appeal in a ship like kavetham, I'm not a fan. I could enjoy it if people focused more on the fragility and vulnerability that such a relationship can create, but alas. I suppose top/bottom discouse brings much more instant gratification.

Anyway, I think the girlies here (and all those who wish to join) should form an alliance and keep doing their things away from the drama. I'm really glad that your blog is a safe space to vent and talk about these things 💜

I never imagined that stating I'm not into BL in my bio would spark so much discussion on the topic of modern fandom culture. Not that I mind since I enjoy talking about these things, but it does make me wonder if there should be a dedicated space for it so everyone can talk about it together. In the meantime, I am more than happy to be a safe space for others to vent their frustrations and share their opinions on the topic 😊

We talked before about how people project themselves onto stories and characters, and you also made a really good addition to this that I haven't thought of before. It does seem like people stopped interpreting stories for their message/idea, and are now using it as a way to validate themselves instead. It makes me wonder what it is about modern Western culture that's pushing people to project so heavily onto entertainment media.

I won't comment too much on political jargon since I am not American, and oftentimes struggle to understand American politics. One thing I have noticed, though, is that a lot of Americans view everything around them through a political lens, even when said thing or person has nothing to do with politics. They jump to conclusions about where on the political spectrum said thing or person lies based on whether it aligns with their views, and then judge it to be either good or bad. No in-between.

And I also agree that the social justice camp has done a 180, and went from promoting equality and acceptance, to now policing everyone who doesn't adhere to their strict views of what is morally correct. It has led to a rejection of equality. I also wonder why these people feel the need to police everyone around them. Are they trying to make up for something deep down?

I am also very thankful to the anon for opening discussion on the issue of people assuming character sexuality based on physical attributes or behaviors. As we talked at length prior, the term "coding" is being thrown around everywhere to justify people's headcanons about characters. We've gone past sliding down the slope of stereotyping, because I've seen people use stereotypes to describe characters, and parade them as proof that the character is gay-coded.

For example, I saw someone say Kaveh is gay-coded because he whines and complains a lot, dresses feminine, and shows no interest in women (Said person also said a lot of other WILD things to try and defend their point. It was one of the most surreal conversations I've ever had). Some of this stereotyping started out as a joke, as you said, but lately it doesn't feel like a joke anymore.

Glad you are also of the opinion that Kaveh and Haitham wouldn't make a good romantic couple! Every time I see someone compile a list of how they're designed as a pair, and therefore meant to be lovers, I want to write a list stating why their personalities wouldn't make them work. Or if they do start dating, then why it would inevitably fall apart. But I digress.

I feel you when you say you've been friends with someone who is your polar opposite, and how difficult it can be. Though I wouldn't even call us friends because we are just too different to understand each other's point of view. It's frustrating and exhausting, for sure, which is why I commend you for being able to keep a friendship going.

Sorry for writing so much. I thought I would write less, but somehow I never can.

Okay so like... story idea?

I've recently been getting back into writing but not rlly on here as real ones would know (sorry for my absense I've missed u pookie pies), and I think I want to write a book/story or whatever.

I haven't got my idea all fleshed out yet but here goes:

Synopsis

Memories. The most precious resource in the world – the grandest luxuries and the deepest shames – are now dredged from the deepest corners of shadows and strung across the gilded necks of high society. Escapism at its finest, new memories are hard to come by, and can only be stolen and pried from minds whose hearts have stopped beating.

She (the main character whose name I haven't decided on yet) was murdered. Blood inking over cold white skin. That was before she was woken up. But now she's awake, and she knows something is missing. Memories were stolen from her.

Now she's thrust back into what she's told is her old life, trying to piece things together without the glue of her memories, hiding the truth of her murder from those who surround her. She was warned not to trust anyone.

Not even the person who wishes to help her, and certainly not the other one, the one in the shadows.

Aspects of the book

I would say definitely a LOT of mystery. A couple time jumps throughout the story as she finds some of her memories back and of course it's also about her trying to solve her own murder and why and what's missing from her mind.

Of course there's some of my favourite tropes in it as well: "who did this to you", grumpy and hates everyone and pretends to hate her but doesn't really, sunshine/golden retriever, mysterious unveilings, backstabbing etc, love thats not rlly allowed (i forgot the name for that) :)

Unbearable, searing fucking tension and slow burn and miscommunication and a shit ton of angst because why tf not, still deciding whether there will be spice but ill see....

BUT THE THING I NEED HELP WITH IS THE SETTING!!!! I don't really know when this novel will be set, whether it's a sort of dystopic novel world where it's a little bit futuristic a LITTLE like never let me go but i dont rlly like that book so idk, or if I should do it a little bit old but non-descript fantasy, a little bit like Priory of the Orange Tree if anyone's read that.

I don’t understand people’s insistence that Zarry was actually a thing. Looking at Harry and Louis throughout the five years with the band, I just don’t see either of them ever hooking up or being in a relationship with any of the other guys. I really think people just think Harry and Zayn are both hot and they like the idea of it and have convinced themselves there’s something there.

It’s an accident, really, the way it all starts. A hopeful accident, but an accident all the same.

Looking back, Robin wouldn’t change a minute of it.

Because where there’s hurt, there’s happiness. Where there’s pain, there’s joy. Where there’s loneliness, there’s love.

Where there’s darkness, there’s Chrissy Cunningham.

It starts in freshman year, both of them young and hopeful and not yet broken down by the world. It starts when they’re just Robin and Chrissy and no one else knows them. Not yet. Maybe not ever, and that’s okay too.

Everything seems innocent enough at first, just two girls growing a friendship over a mutual hatred of biology. Until it stops being innocent. Until it turns into whispers in darkened rooms at sleepovers. Until it turns into stolen kisses behind closed doors. Until it turns into something more than friendship.

“I think I love you,” Robin whispers into the blackness of her bedroom one night, halfway through November, limbs tangled with Chrissy’s as they share the space. The words come out like an oath or a promise.

The silence that follows them feels like an eternity before there’s a second whisper, promise, oath. “I think I love you too,” Chrissy’s voice joins Robin’s in the void.

Robin giggles then, leans over to steal a kiss in the clumsy way that fifteen year olds do. They stay that way for the rest of the night, limbs tangled and kisses stolen until they both fall asleep.

Life feels like heaven beyond that moment, lost in the adventure of young love, of keeping secrets from everyone around them, of knowing each other in ways no one else gets to. Robin thinks sometimes that she could stay like this forever, that she’ll never need anything else in her life as long as she has Chrissy by her side. She thinks Chrissy feels the same, from looks and words and wishes.

Maybe that’s why Robin doesn’t see it coming, the day Chrissy breaks her heart into a million pieces.

“I’m sorry,” Chrissy is saying, her baby blue eyes damp with tears and streaks of mascara down her face. “I’m so, so sorry. I don’t have a choice.”

“Yes, you do!” Robin wails back, eyes just as wet, face flushing red in anger and hurt. “You could choose me, choose us!”

But even as she says the words, Robin knows that Chrissy can’t. She can’t choose them for the same reason Robin couldn’t if their spots were reversed. And that honestly kills her more than the cracks weaving their way through her heart.

Lips press against her cheek and the two girls’ tears mingle together for just a second before Chrissy starts backing away. “I’m sorry,” she says one last time before turning away.

Robin watches her go, face screwing up into something blank, something that doesn’t reflect the pain threatening to rip her in two, because she can’t. Not right now. Maybe not ever. Not alone. But she also can’t look away as Chrissy leaves, memorizing the curves of her body as she abandons Robin for a stupid boy.

They don’t talk much after that. Robin isn’t sure if it’s because Chrissy thinks they can’t or if it’s just too painful for either of them to try. But she wants and wishes to so badly. She wants nothing more than to pull Chrissy back into her arms again, to make her smile and laugh and glow like the sun. She wishes she could kiss her again, could smell her perfume as they embrace. But wants and wishes mean nothing in the long run and Robin tries to move on with her life.

As it were, life is a good distraction from heartbreak, and in a blink it’s been a year. Robin still watches from afar and sometimes fantasizes about swooping in and stealing her girl back, but mostly she just feels better. The sting is still there, every time her eye catches Chrissy with Jason, holding hands or kissing, but it doesn’t feel so much like a knife anymore. It’s dulled its way down to the prick of a needle.

But soon, even the needle bends and breaks as Robin finds herself in the orbit of a new sun. This one is different, but she loves it all the same. And having Steve helps her heal just that much more. Because she suddenly finds herself with someone to talk to again, someone to share her deepest secrets with, and it lifts a weight Robin didn’t even know she was carrying.

It’s not the same, of course, and it never will be. But for a still-healing Robin, right now it’s enough. And all it took was some Russians and almost dying to get there. Simple, minor things. At least, she thinks it’s enough for a while. Until the rug gets pulled from under her feet again and she falls headfirst back into a deep aching pain she doesn’t know how to fix.

Because this time, Robin can’t fix it, no matter how much she wants to. No matter how brave she feels, she can’t march up to Chrissy and demand her back. No matter how deeply she loves, aches, mourns, pines, it’ll never be enough to land her in the arms of the girl that still has such a deep, deep hold on her.

Chrissy is dead, and Robin feels like the entire world has shifted.

The air rushes out of her lungs and tears spring into her eyes as soon as the words process through her brain.

Chrissy is dead.

Robin can hear voices around her, can hear Steve calling her name over and over again, but it all sounds like it’s underwater. Her butt hits the video store’s floor and her back hits the counter as her knees give out. It’s not until Steve’s hand is on her shoulder that Robin comes back, just enough to hear his concern, to see the worry in his eyes.

“C’mon, let’s get you to the back,” he’s saying, soft and low, only for her before directing the kids to get started over his shoulder. Then the hand is pulling her up, guiding her, steadying her in a way only Steve can.

She doesn’t remember the walk to the backroom, doesn’t remember being sat in the only chair as Steve crouches in front of her. “Talk to me, Rob,” he’s saying. “What happened?”

The ability to speak feels almost foreign to her, despite her usual habit of never shutting up, and the words feel lost, somewhere in a dark abyss, but Robin manages an answer. It’s a quiet little thing, just three squeaked out words broken by a sob halfway through. “I loved her.”

Robin breaks. She breaks into a million little pieces then, in the backroom of Family Video, tucked carefully into her best friend’s embrace as she sobs and screams over a girl she thought she was over. Over a girl she never stopped loving. Over a girl she’ll never see again.

Steve doesn’t ask any questions or demand any answers as he holds her. Instead, what he does is give Robin time. Time to let her pain be known with her tears, to find the words she needs to explain, to keep things to herself if she wants. Robin has never been more grateful for him.

Getting through this fight, this battle, this war, feels never-ending. It feels like it means something even if Robin spends the entirety of it under a storm cloud, lost in a torrential downpour of mourning she doesn’t even fully understand. But she stands through it and helps her friends just like the time before. They win. But Robin doesn’t think it feels much like a victory.

It changes something in her, losing Chrissy, but once the dust of the apocalypse settles, Robin takes the time to properly mourn. It doesn’t feel like enough, even though it has to be. Maybe someday it will. For now, she just leans on her friends and lets herself heal.

A serious conversation about that Harry and Meghan’s branding is absolute shit! No social media? Terrible. Speaking through a spokesperson? Terrible. The general public hearing more about them ~complaining~ than the actual good work they’re doing? Terrible AND ITS DIRECTLY BECAUSE THEY DON’T MARKET THEMSELVES!! Taking forever and a day, to release projects? Terrible business decisions are being made.

Harry was just at the warrior game which was a perfect thing to capitalize on and yet it’s not even on that dumb website 😭

Oh don't even get me started because I could rant and ramble about this for loooooooong.

It is frustrating to see the ball being dropped so frequently, on things that should be simple.

They need a social media. I don't care for all the reasons why they don't want one - them as people, fine. Them as a brand, it's bloody beyond stupid. Turn the comments off, have a system where you sign off on social media content but have nothing physically to do with it. Whatever, it just needs to be done. The website has good content but infrequently, and the email notifications have never worked.

They need their work to be accessible for all, and easy access. Not just their work but also causes they care about. Their monthly highlight on SussexRoyal could be something they so easily continued. It's not down to fans to go looking for their work.

If in an argument whoever shouts the loudest wins, H&M aren't even shouting, they just aren't taking part. Which I *do* understand for them as individuals and for their family, but it shouldn't be easier to find bullshit about them than actual fact.

They have great plans and passion behind their projects, they just have shit concept of timing and momentum & idk if that's on their teams or them.

They should have dropped a tease to season 2 Archetypes as the finale of season 1, even if that was a 30 second trailer of Meghan saying different "sterotypes" like victim or villain? Boss Bitch or Control Freak? etc etc. even with nothing recorded content wise, that should have dropped honestly. On the back on Meg getting the award, they should have had the trailer/release date for season 2. We know now that's not happening.

They should have had something work wise coming straight after H's court case to show that they are in their ~looking forward chapter, like they've said. Whether volunteering or an announcement of something.

They should have had a release date ready for Heart Of Invictus to share, on the back of H attending the Warrior Games.

Idk, it feels like a series of missteps that could easily have been remedied but alas 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

ngl I know nothing ab your DC blorbos except they're gay and cool or something Idk I just think they're neat... I'd ask what comics I could read ab them being super blorbo-y but Idk...

OKAY so there’s a lot of characters in dc but the ones I draw/talk about the most are these group of friends!! They feature in Young Justice 1998, Teen Titans 2003, and Young Justice 2019, as well as having their own comics and other appearances :)

each comic run has different vibes but my personal favorite is yj1998 bc I like its wacky and zany vibes. It was not my first comic though, and it’s a little older so it might be hard to understand or read if it’s your first time reading comics like this, and again it is old soooo some stuff does Not age well such as certain jokes or depictions and it is of course not all perfect but overall I love it and think it has a lot of heart

I think i have a lot of fun with it bc it feels so…animated? And it has funny slapstick humor. Honestly I probably like it bc it makes me laugh the same way ninjago makes me laugh…a group of 4+ friends that have cute dynamics with each other and just Being Silly Together. I really don’t know how to explain it but between all three runs, I can see yj1998 in my head the most as a wacky animated show with exaggerated bouncy animation idk so that’s part of the fun for me. I think the moment I realized this was going to be a long term emotional investment was When I read the issue where they randomly end up on a planet and have to play baseball bc I am a SUCKERRR for baseball shenanigans

But yeah the group starts out with Bart, Tim, and Kon in JLA: A world without Grownups, and they just have a good trio dynamic 🙏 the banter between all three is so good 🤩and I liked seeing their friendship develop throughout yj1998 too! Especially for Tim, with his hesitancy at the beginning.They weren’t without conflict ofc but that adds to why I like them bc eventually they became besties for life. They are also quickly joined by others but the main one that stays w the group through all three runs is Cassie Sandsmark , aka Wonder Girl ii.

But yeah I guess some things I like are the way they actually Hang out? like they will do camping trips or go to the mall and games together etc etc, but there will be parts that feel more serious while never losing that humorous tint to it. For some examples, I love how Tim tries to be a leader in the beginning, but then one arc shows just how much Cassie is more fitting for it, and how they bond over Leader things like how hard it is to tell Bart what to do and then will share a really nice hug 🥺, and I love Cassie and Cissie’s relationship a LOT because they sometimes misunderstand each other but clearly care for each other (they aren’t canon but in my heart they are.) I also like Tim and kon’s build towards understanding and friendship for a similar reason, and cissie and Anita also have a nice development with each other, but yeah all the dynamics are just fun to think about tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am pointing at them eagerly and going “wow! Friendship!!”

And as for the guy I never shut up about…well that’s a whole thing I could ramble about but i became obsessed with him the moment he quoted Peter Pan while lamenting about how he was afraid his friends would leave him behind after several issues of him acting like Hot Shit and erm I’m predictable so it got to me 🙄 also he makes dumb jokes every second like he expects someone to laugh at them like he’s so dumb sometimes….anyways I do not want to ramble too much so I will get on with it

I was only familiar with his black tshirt look before, so when I first saw this goofy looking dumbass with a leather jacket and glasses and an earring I WAS LIKE “THATS SUPERBOY? THATS REAL?” and quickly became interested in the notion of a Superman associated hero wearing something like this bc I don’t think my brain ever considered the possibility before….also it is something I cannot explain some panels just activate my cuteness aggression 😔 I just think he’s really cute 🫶🫶🫶
