what is your favorite line/section of your sick CXS fic? It is so good and I love when authors can share some of their thoughts!
i feel so spoiled with these messages from you, thank you for being so kind my godd

it's hard to choose favorite lines bc genuinely i do love the whole fic so much. a lot of the time i'm writing off the cuff and it just flows out of me in one or two sittings (it's why i'm a one-shot writer) but this was a story that took me months to complete because of all the planning involved (and absolutely fruitless research into Chinese herbal soups, since literally NONE of that research made it into the fic lmao) and so the whole thing feels really special and different from my other stories just because of how much thought was put into it.
it took a long time, but i adored writing the second half, getting to write the same day over again and try to make it identical while FEELING totally different. having Lu Guang totally in pieces over every little change he accidentally makes to the timeline was mwaa *chef's kiss*
i think my favorite line was what i eventually pulling from to make the summary on AO3
"Lu Guang is so tired. He wishes he could freeze this conversation, this whole day, and go nap for a thousand hours. The stress of it all is sucking the marrow from his bones. He wishes he could do today over again. He doesn’t know if he’d have the strength to do today over again."
idk i just feel like it really encapsulates the struggle Lu Guang goes through in this fic and might literally go through on a day to day basis trying to re-live the timeline. like i'm sure every misstep feeling like something Lu Guang would want to do over, but how many times can he handle that, emotionally? like this day mentally broke him and it's literally the most nothing day. Lu Guang forgot to make one phone call and almost suffered cardiac arrest because of it.
plus its very sweet that Cheng Xiaoshi, sick as a dog and feeling down on himself for being left alone all day, comforts Lu Guang after this moment because he can see Lu Guang is going through like a panic-induced existential crisis and mistakes it for Lu Guang ALSO feeling ill, sweet boy ♥
i also really liked the simplicity of these lines (it includes spoilers so look away if you wanna read the fic first. )
But Lu Guang thinks of the tear-streaked smile after Cheng Xiaoshi took that first bite.
Spending every waking moment agonizing over his next step won’t get him anywhere. Instead, Lu Guang folds up that smile and tucks it into a corner of his mind for safekeeping.
Cheng Xiaoshi thanked him for today.
Maybe that is enough.
that part wasn't in the original draft. these lines are in response to CXS thanking Lu Guang for caring for him and i think i had a bit of prose where LG internally laments that he spent half the day ignoring CXS and only took care of him when it was clear Qiao Ling wasn't going to be able to, so the thanks wasn't really deserved. or something self deprecating like that
i had sent my "final draft" to a friend after revising some bits in the flashback and said "i wanna post it but i feel like i need to mess with the ending still. it feels off" my friend insisted what i had was great but i didn't know if the last line of the fic ("Timeline be damned") felt earned. Lu Guang had been a slave to the timeline for the entirety of the story, allowing him to kind of/sort of say "fuck you" to the timeline for a brief moment felt like it was going against everything i had just established, of how IMPORTANT keeping to the timeline was to Lu Guang for the sake of being able to save Cheng Xiaoshi in the future.
it was my friend that gave me the idea to write a simple thesis line that shows what Lu Guang has learned from this. that disaster is definitely a potential outcome in Lu Guang's crazy plan, but seeing Cheng Xiaoshi at peace is enough to make him want to try. like you said in your comment on the fic, if you went back in time, you'd want to be kinder. those lines are Lu Guang reminding himself that seeing CXS at peace has an emotional effect on Lu Guang as well.
ALSO idk the "fold up his smile and tucks it in his mind" bit is cute okay? it's a very cute sentence and i'm proud i wrote it lol
this is very long so i'm gonna stop rambling but again THANK YOU so much for asking me this and for all your sweet messages. i truly can't get over how wonderful it's been talking about this story with you, it's only made me love it more and i already thought it was my magnum opus lmao

We walked past eachother, my gaze meeting his, he quickly looked away, staring at the ground. I'm sure he's mad about something, it's not like he can avoide me forever, we live in the same apartment complex, right next to eachother. I sigh, and look back at him, he'd been ignoring my texts, my calls, me trying to make small talk, I wasn't even sure what I had done to make him mad, whatever it was I felt really bad about it.
"Hey vic!" I try to stop him. Hoping we could work out whatever I did. He stops abruptly.
"Oh...hey y/n" he says, looking everywhere but my eyes.
"Hey..are you mad at me, cause you've been ignoring me, and I don't want you to be upset with me" he sighs, and looks me in the eye.
"Come in. We need to talk" the seriousness in his voice scared me. I curse under my breath and follow him into his apartment.
We sit down, a guilty look displayed on his face. "Hey...I not sure for what I did, but I'm sorry"
"Im not mad. You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just working through some feelings right now" he runs his hand through his hair, his brown eyes reflecting the stress he feels.
"What kind of feelings? If you don't mind me asking" I pick at my cuticles, waiting for his response.
He stares at the floor, as if be is ashamed. My eyes searching for somthing, anything, to tell me what was wrong. Why he was upset, and although deep down I know he would never feel the same, I worry because I love him. "I am in live with a girl. If I tell her, I will screw up the friendship we have. I'll mess up everything, the friendship we have had forever". His words proved my point that he would never love me, but I'm his friend, I have to comfort him without making it completely obvious how I truly feel about him.
"Any girl that rejects you, is either blind, or an Idiot. Ask her out, I'm sure she'll be happy as can be" I say, gently touching his hand.
His eyes meet mine. "The girl is you" he speaks, my world freezes. "I love you y/n"
"You what?" I say, sure I had misheard him, there is no way he loved me, right? "You love me? Like really? This isn't a joke right?"
"I would never joke about this"
"How long?". He looks confused, "how Ling have you loved me"
"I think I always have"

So. I'm sure you've all heard of Lightlark by Alex Aster and are probably aware of the controversy and all the review-bombing around it. Naturally I couldn't help myself and my morbid curiosity pushed me to read it for myself.
Is this the worst book I've ever read? No. Is this the best book I've ever read? Not even close. Certainly not worthy of a six-figure paycheck and a movie deal before release... there are far more deserving books out there. My rating is 1.5 stars.
My biggest gripe with this book is the lazy naming. It'sso bad that I got the impression that Aster used these names as place-holders in her draft but never bothered replacing them with actual names. Here's what I mean:
Our Mary-Sue royal MC who spends the entirety of the book on an island - Isla Crown
Leader of a kingdom that draws their power from the stars - Celeste
Leader of a kingdom that draws their power from the sun - Oro (gold)
Leader of the Night Court, sorry, the shadow lands - Grim
Leader of the kingdom that draws their power from the sky - Azul
And the only leader who seemingly isn't named after her kingdom - Cleo... some tell me if the name Cleo is related to the moon somehow because I wouldn't be surprised
The names of the kingdoms... I'll let you guess from what each of them draw their power from - Wildling, Moonling, Sunling, Starling, Skyling, aaaand Nightshade (couldn't stick with the -ling suffix, huh?)
The stick-shaped relic that allows Isla to teleport through portals made of stars? Why that's the starstick of course!
Also the general writing choices... Aster seems to be obsessed with yolky eggs and also likes to describe objects/places using this template: adjective-y thing. Ex. The sun was a yolky thing, it was a cliffy thing, a temptress thing, a gleaming thing. Remember how in high school we were taught to avoid using the word "thing" in our writing? Yeah... guess Aster skipped that class.
Plot-wise... we were promised a mix of ACOTAR and The Hunger Games. Uhhhhh no. This is a rehash of Three Dark Crowns.
The only hint of ACOTAR you get is the copy-paste (but change the name) version of Rhysand that is Grim... and I have a sneaking suspicion Oro will turn into Tamlin in the sequel.
The Hunger Games element? Completely absent. There's no fight to the death... in fact it's made very clear that no one who's participated in the competition in the past 500 years has actually died and it's likely no one will die this time round either. The entirety of the book is spent following Isla walking around the islands looking for a relic that clearly doesn't exist. Massive waste of time.
I really wish we got to follow Celeste or Cleo. Their curses were far more interesting. The ocean dragging people to their death every full moon or cursed to die by the age of 25? Much more interesting than being cursed to kill your true love (I mean come on how many times has that plot been used in fantasy fiction?)
Another instance of lazy writing was the over-abundance of plot convenience. There's not one conflict that wasn't resolved through some magical relic/power/person never mentioned before.
Oh and if you hate the villain monologue trope... prepare yourself.
And of course the flase-advertising everyone has been on about. I didn't see any of Aster's tiktoks promising certain tropes (except for one where she gets overly-excited over a snippet of tepid dialogue that was indeed in the book), so I'll just stick to what we're promised in the synopsis and blurbs.
As mentioned before, this isn't ACOTAR meets THG. It's Three Dark Crowns with some changes to the political system and number of rulers.
Lightlark doesn't only appear every 100 years, it's always there (people live on it ffs) but the rulers of each kingdom can only visit every 100 years... I think. Idk it wasn't made very clear because Oro is the king of Lightlark and the starstick brings Isla anywhere so it's all very ambiguous.
Romance is a sub-plot and the love triangle came out of nowhere. I don't mind the lack of romance but as romance was promised and toted by Aster and all the authors that blurbed the book, it's misleading. I heard a lot of the tropes that were promised and didn't appear in the book were romance-related so just keep that in mind.
Most importantly: diversity. Bitch where? You get your token black character and token gay character all in one. And that's it. Bone app the teeth I guess.
Anyway, to me this book was low-stakes, lazy, and uncreative. I'm surprised I managed to finish it because I seriously considered DNFing it at the 30% mark, the 50% mark, and the 70% mark but I didn't want the rabid fans swarming my review and telling me I'm not allowed to have an opinion because I dIdN't ReAd It or that I dIdN't GiVe It A cHaNcE.
I read it. I finished it. It sucks. Goodbye.

1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
Arial because it’s the default setting. However I have grown attached to it, and I usually start off writing essays in Arial even though professors want it in Times New Roman because words look weird in that font
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
Things I don’t have any experience at all with is hard to write. Romance is also hard to write because I’ll usually get embarrassed part way through. Like I’ll try to write a kiss and my brain will just be like “pffff this is so cringe” (though to be fair I also feel this way sometimes about very emotionally vulnerable platonic moments). Things like anxiety are also hard to write about because I’ve done it too many times and I feel like I’m just reusing the same phrases over and over again any time a character feels any amount of fear or worry.
Idk what’s easy but I think the most fun stuff to write is when characters finally talk about something they’ve been avoiding talking about (which i’m not really sure counts as a “subject matter” but eh)
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end.
Since you know fma, I’ll choose my best Greedling fic, specifically the scene where I wrote Greed’s death from Ling’s pov (the last scene of this chapter if you are curious https://archiveofourown.org/works/23971405/chapters/58686808)
Normally I don’t think it’s super interesting to just copy and paste a scene from canon into your fic, but I had so much fun with this one. I knew I had to keep it more or less the same as in canon because it’s such a key moment for Greed’s character arc (and also Ling’s), which is what this fic was about. I just took two days to write this scene and other than a bit of minor editing on the phrasing and stuff, it’s mostly the same as it was in the first draft. I watched the subbed version and took the dialogue from that, changing a couple bits minutely because either I didn’t like the translation or because I had a translation that worked better for my story.
The first day, I remember feeling extremely gleeful. It had been awhile since I had written angst, and as I was writing it, I kept being like “hee hee i can’t wait to make people suffer by reading this”. The second day, I mostly just felt sad though.
Also I made one change to the fic a couple months after I posted it, which I do not usually do. Awhile back, I noticed that there’s a pretty big difference in Greed’s dialogue in the subbed version vs the dubbed version and I went through in collected all the big differences I could find so that maybe one day I could write some analysis on it. For the most part, I prefer the subbed version, but there are a couple parts the dubbed is better one of which is as Greed is about to die. And because I was going for maximum pain, I switched out the dialogue from the first to the second:
Greed: Lan Fan has a Philosopher’s Stone. Take it and go home, kid
Ling: Wait...
Greed: Lan Fan has a Philosopher’s Stone. So you don’t even need me anymore, kid

I just found this in my drafts. IDK who asked me these, or what it was from, but oh well. I’m gonna post it anyway because it’s that sort of night.
1. What was your first OTP?
The first one I actively shipped was 1x2 (Heero Yuy x Duo Maxwell) from Gundam Wing. I may have liked to characters together in things before that, but that was the first one I read fic for, so I’m going with that. (Also, can we bring back x ?)
2. What is your current OTP?
Peter Hale/Stiles Stilinski, Teen Wolf
Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, MCU, 616, AA, Ults
3. Do you have any OT3/OT+ ships? What are your favorites?
Parker/Hardison/Eliot from Leverage is the most perfect OT3 in the world, and it’s canon so A+ there.
I also thought season 2 of Stranger Things was heading towards a Steve/Nancy/Jonathan OT3, which I would have been into, but nope...
Other than that, I can be persuaded to read fic that is a mainship + others, so the occasional Peter/Stiles/pretty much anyone tbh, and the occasional Steve/Tony/Bucky
4. What is/are your favorite trope(s)?
So more general tropes that I enjoy are things like bed sharing/safe houses, soulmates, fake dating, enemies to friends to lovers...
But there are some fandom specific tropes I enjoy, too. So, in Teen Wolf, I really like No Hale Fire, the bite was a proposal, neckz’n’throats
And in MCU, etc I love Identity Porn, Steve is not a virgin, and Undercover mission fics
5. What is/are your least favorite trope(s)?
Super not into MPREG or Kidfic (like I don’t mind if there are kids, or the characters have them, but I don’t want it to be the focus; I’m trying to escape from my own!)
6. Do you have a certain kind of ship you’re more attracted to?
I tend to like opposite characters who have a lot of chemistry but they don’t exactly see eye to eye or get along 100% of the time, even if some of them are friends/reluctant allies. I just always like a bit of rivalry, I think. If you look at all of the ships I’ve had, most of them fit this description: Heero/Duo (reluctant allies at first), Harry/Draco (rivals), Jack/Spot (friendly rivals), Jason/Percy (friendly rivals), Arthur/Eames (reluctant allies with some past??), Arthur/Merlin (master/servant, but with some friendly rivalry thrown in for good measure), Peter/Stiles (enemies to reluctant allies), Steve/Tony (reluctant allies, to friends, to enemies, back to reluctant allies)... and so on.
8. Who is the most shippable person you can think of?
I can pretty much ship Stiles with anyone. He’s a good fandom bicycle.
9. Are there any fandoms you don’t have any ships for?
That I’m invested in to some degree? I’m not really interested in any Doctor Who ships outside of what’s canon. Idk why...
10. Do characters have to have canon interactions for you to ship them?
At least some. There has to be some basis for what their interactions would be like. But honestly, it doesn’t have to be a lot for me. I can make a mountain out of that small molehill if I need to.
12. What drives you away from a ship?
The fans of that ship being shitty. I might still like it, but I won’t engage with that part of the fandom, so the interest will fade much faster.

Stiles Stilinski/Isaac Lahey
20. Do you prefer bigger fanbases or smaller ones?
OOh tough. Bigger ones produce more content. Getting back into Stony is a gift with the amount of fic and amazing artists out there. BUT small ones are nice to finding a community and people to interact with.
24. What is your favorite canon ship?
I’m gonna go with my OT3 of Parker/Hardison/Eliot. Second place would be a tie between Haruka Teou (Sailor Uranus)/Michiru Kaioh (Sailor Neptune) and Eric Bittle/Jack Zimmerman from Check, Please!
25. What are your favorite ships from a dead fandom?
Do fandoms really ever die? Jack/Spot from Newsies. Heero/Duo from GW, Casey/Zeek from The Faculty
26. What are your favorite shipping scenes?

28. What is your best shipping advice?
Just have fun. This is supposed to be fun. If it stops being fun, back away.
29. Do you like OCs (Original Characters)?
Sometimes? There is an amazing Check, Please! fic (Something Like This, by emmagrant01) that has some amazing OCs, and they round out the story without overshadowing the canon characters. But I think this sort of thing is few and far between.

Ah shit.. ✨MARRIAGE CERIMONIES✨ The thing i have no idea how to write but somehow I manage-
anyways here is your request! ( that was probably long overdue… ) :
Jiang Cheng ( modern ) :
Well, it’s either in the backyard, bedroom, kitchen, or it’s in the plaza.. Where could his best man have left it?! “WEI.. WUXIAN!” Jiang Cheng was about to lash out on his brother but then Lan Wangji stood infront of Wei Wuxian while Xichen tries to calm your groom. You were still changing and it was nearly time for you to enter in all your ✨magnificent glory✨. “I swear! It was just ontop of one of the seats!” One? THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THEM. How will they search for the ring now? Luckily, Yanli came out and asked what is the commotion. “Shije! Please, help! Jiang Cheng is going to pull all my hair out!” Wei Wuxian said, still behind Lan Wangji. “A-Xian, a-Cheng, did you forget that you left the rings with me during our car ride?” She asked while looking for the ring in her purse. “Ah! I found it!” Jiang Cheng was so thankfull his big sister had the ring.. Wei Wuxian was so glad that Yanli was the best- ( help idk what happens next in a wedding.. )
Jin Ling ( modern ) :
He is feeling REALLY dumb.. Dumber than Jingyi. He was so sure that he left the ring at the car, now Zizhen has to help the poor guy find the engagement ring. “How could you have possibly have missplaced such an important item young mistress?!” Zizhen says irriated. Jin Ling is isn’t just panicking, he is hyperventiliating. Sizhui and Jingyi along with Wei Wuxian is stalling you while your waiting for your dear boyfriend. “Shut up and help me!” Jin Ling, still in panic, searches in the trunk. Literally checking everywhere at this point “Hey Y/N! Did you know that the cake tastes reallyy good?” Jingyi hands you a portion of your favorite cake and his sweat drops. After you thank him for the cake and began to eat it.. Well, Jin Ling is gonna take awhile. “Where is Jin Ling?! They might lose their paitience!” Wei Wuxian whispers to Jingyi who just shrugged while Sizhui tried to distract you. Wei Wuxian and Jingyi now are helping Jin Ling find that ONE ring.. It was literally in his bag. After 30 mins of searching.. It was just on his fricking bag. Well.. He and you waited long enough so SURELY he can still pull this off. Right?
Lan Wangji ( modern ) :

He has never been in such a panic before. Xichen has never seen his brother like this. Lan Wangji is really turning over everything to find that ring. The boulder, What? You think he hasn’t gone to the gym? Even checked inside the house. Xichen of course had to help since you would be home soon. ( want this to be house husband Lan Wangji or?.. ) PLEASE BOTH OF THEM ARE LOOKING EVERYWHERE. Finally, after 3 hours. Tossing and turning everything. They both finally found the ring, specifically, Xichen did. After he gave it to Lan Wangji he wished him luck and left. You noticed Xichen comming out of the front door after you parked your car and you both stared at each other for a moment. “Uh, hey! Xichen..” You say awkwardly while he does his signature smile “Oh hey Y/N! Wangji has something to tell you, you can find him in the living room!” He says and leaves. Wonder what kind of surprise he has in store hm?

hey @tootiredtoosadtooangry i tried to answer your 6 weeks old ask, but as i saved it as a draft to check the formatting and all that, it just fucking disappeared, cause tumblr is a website. it may magically come back later, but idk if it will happen. good thing is that i saved the text of that ask separately, cause i’m a genius and i wasn’t gonna lose this essay *wink wink* to this fucking website
ok, so it's been 6 weeks
it's basically 5-7 business days, right?
so 6 weeks ago i made a gif, and under that gif i said that i might write an essay about some things (wei wuxian), but then some other things happened (word of honor) and i kinda got distracted. but now i have my glass of whatever this alcohol that i'm drinking is, and i think i'm ready to talk a bit about our depressed necromancer who in that gif just came back to life. mostly about:
1. the specific flashback he's having in that moment, the one about seeing lan wangji for the first time
2. the general concept of being back to life 16 years later and getting using to that new world around him
so, first of all, what i find really interesting, is that upon seeing sizhui's clothing pattern, wei wuxian remembers, of course, lan wangji. but the thing is, being just back to life, his last memory from being alive is him falling down the cliff with lan wangji's face fading while the distance grows. that is not what he remembers. his memory goes back to the very first moment they met, the moment before literally anything happened, including all the things that went wrong.
because think about it. even tho i'm going here by the live-action canon, if we go back just a little bit to the novel canon, wei wuxian doesn't actually remember lan wangji fighting by his side in that final battle. when he comes back to life, he believes that he's remembered as the terrible yiling laozu by everybody. and that includes lan wangji. by the end of wei wuxian life he became everything that lan wangji warned him about, and everything he said he wouldn't become. so he believes that if lan wangji would find out that he's back to life, it wouldn't make him happy (oh how wrong he is)
when wei wuxian sees lan sect juniors for the first time, there seems to be a bit of hope - "is *he* also here?" but later we find out, that he doesn't actually want lwj to be here, cause he thinks that their meeting will not look like a friendly reunion (it will look like a very romantic reunion, but that happens later). and i think that when he has that small flashback to their very first meetings, the sadness that overcomes him is caused by the realization of that enormous gap between them when they just met and them after all the terrible things that happened. wei wuxian wants to see his old friend, a person who once at least tried to believe in him, who is also still alive, which can't be said about a lot of people he knew, but there is this huge barrier that he believes cannot be crossed. and he crossed that point of no return himself in his previous life, and he is now undeserving of lan wangji's trust and friendship.
and that's of course isn't true. but there is a difference between what we know, what lan wangji thinks and what wei wuxian believes and remembers.
there is no smooth transition i can think of to get to the second point, so here we are. 16 years. 16 years is a lot. it's a whole fucking life. a human can be almost fully formed in that time period (which is perfectly represented by both fully grown up sizhui and jin ling, who, when wwx died, was a one month old baby) in 16 years a lot can happen to a person. a person can grow to change their whole world view, their believe system, some of their principles, become comfortable with their identity and finally figure out what they want from life. a person can grow from a child to an adult, who's carefully and patiently initiating a plan they've been cultivating for years, while playing a role and hiding their true face from everybody. a person can take their enormous grief, their rage, their pain and direct it all towards achieving their goals, actually fulfilling the impossible, while managing to raise a child and not completely ruin them from the inside, but actually letting the child know that he's loved and safe.
and then wei wuxian who died 16 years ago before any of that happened, comes back to this world full of people he used to once know. but he doesn't anymore. and we can see it in everything, from little details to big very important conversations. the most obvious is him trying to play and flirt with lan wangji the ways he used to when they were teens, and being so confused by lwj's reaction. because lwj grew past that so long ago, while wwx just didn't have a chance to get this out of his system. that part is him getting to know lwj again, from the beginning, because he meets a new man. but at least with lwj, wwx is willing to get to know him and lwj is willing to let him do that.
then there is jiang cheng. there was always a certain level of misunderstanding between yunmeng bros, but at the same time, wei wuxian used to know jiang cheng pretty well. when jiang cheng was upset or something was going wrong home, with his parents, wwx mostly knew what to do or what to say or how to distract him and make light of the situation. he used to be able to look jiang cheng in the eyes and lie, and jiang cheng would believe that. and when wei wuxian comes back, he thinks it's the same jiang cheng. but the thing is, it's not. jiang cheng grew in not the most healthy ways, but he still grew up. there are so many moments, where instead of making the light of the situation, wei wuxian's actions escalate it. it's both jc just being a new person and wwx not knowing anymore how to act around him. the most important scenes showcasing that are lotus pier fight and the conversation in the temple.
there is also nhs, who's fooling everybody around him easily because he always did. even if it was just about school work. but isn't it fucking sad, that he's fooling even he's best friend. wwx isn't really surprised in the end, of course, when we find out that nhs has been behind all these deeds, but still he doesn't really suspect him. like at all, if i recall correctly? and they used to be on the same page of fooling everybody to think that these two boys are just some lazy fools. they're clearly not on the same page anymore.
wwx comes back to the world full of people who look like people he used to know or remind him of people he used to know, but they aren't them. meanwhile he didn't have the time to grow or change or just have some peace. wherever he's been while being dead, he was just out of it. his path of growing and figuring himself out stars with him coming back. but he's years behind. and with someone like lan wangji, we know that he's willing wait and he gives him space and he gives him love and home and warmth. but then, for example, jiang cheng's frustration is visible in the air, because he had years to overthink everything went wrong again and again, and wei wuxian comes back and it seems like he just want to ignore and leave "the past in the past" and it's infuriating for someone who couldn't let go of it all for 16 years. but it's understandable for someone who just came back and now the weight of everything they did multiplied by 16 years is suddenly being thrown at them.
and he has to get to know all these people from the beggining, if they will be willing to get to know each other at all. and the growth, that getting to know himself, it's a journey he has to take on his own. that's why i'm such a big fan of that trip he takes in the end by the way. but still it's a trip he takes alone, and there are still huge chunks of life he missed. and he will never get them back. he missed all those years when sizhui and jin ling were growing up. and it will always be there. they will be sharing their childhood stories with him, and the lack of wwx in their lives will be so obvious. he will continue to learn new things about lwj, about his old friends, about the world, because it's been so long, and it will be noticeable that he was not there.
i would say that all the characters of their generation (that survived) are lonely in their own way. but for wei wuxian it's the loneliness of being dead and just completely not present on the lives of his loved ones.
i don't know where i'm going with it now, so i think i will just stop here and maybe come back to you 6 weeks later with another terribly messy emotional take influenced by me drinking alcohol.

i realize now this coffin scene was inevitable. feel kinda weird about hua cheng back and forth from Teen to Big Man but it is very funny that theyre having their “dude dont look at my boner” moment while in the jaws of a water dragon
pei ming: why didnt you guys make a bigger coffin so you didnt have to squish together like that?
xie lian: haha yep!! anyways what brings you here?

shi wudu im not really invested in you as a character but these next two bits... interesting

also okay as long as im here im just gonna say it. the choice that he xuan gives shi qingxuan is fucking brutal but i actually think its probably as fair as it could be. sqx didnt know about or participate in what happened to hx but they did benefit from it greatly while hx lost EVERYTHING and i can understand he xuan’s thinking of “if you really feel bad for what happened to me then you have to make a sacrifice and understand the suffering and this is as clean as its going to get” and theres a bit where sqx is trying to beg for mercy but cant get the words out which im guessing is bc theres no good argument!! what happened was fucked up!!

The Half-Maquillage Woman - kind of interesting monster idea bc women and aging…. yeah. however i think this would be a lot stronger if there were a) more girls and this was b) discussed or illustrated at all prior to this moment. still interesting that its included knowing the author is a woman tho and there’s been comments on how ling wen is perceived vs pei ming. this book does keep giving me hope for interesting female character arcs i really want it to deliver something

this book is so entertaining bc i already saw spoilers for the feng xin/jian lan/cuo cuo reveal and yet i could never have predicted the circumstances that brought it about. imagine being feng xin. the heavens are in an uproar and your only friend/enemy has been jailed for possible fetus spirit-related crimes but he escapes along with this female ghost who keeps causing problems. you figure “fuck it lets see if dianxia kept his old phone number” and he has but then he hangs up on you. you’ve got fuckall else to do so you go find him. mu qing is there but he’s in his disguise the two of you were using so you could watch over his highness while staying aloof. you think you see hua cheng only he’s a chiild for some goddamn reason but who knows at this point. the female ghost is also there and theres a fetus spirit climbing trees and biting your arrows in half. you realize the female ghost is your ex and the little demon is your son. it bites you. what do you do
amazing that despite everything going on everyone is still playing along with the “fu yao” persona when it would probably be easier to drop pretenses at this point. then again tbh if i could explain my actions to my friends while pretending to be a third party.... i probably would so.. carry on

top 5 fav characters of all time !
um fuck this ask has been sitting in my drafts cuz it was so tough to decide n then i forgot abt it im sorry😭 i cant rlly choose top 5.. there are characters i still Love after so many years even tho i dont rlly think abt them much nowadays... and then there are the characters most important to me Right Now... so idk ummmm in no particular order:
1. gintoki sakata shocking i know... i just dont stop loving him. i truly didnt expect him to become such a favorite of mine but now... simply thinking abt him can make me so happy (and bring a few tears to my eyes haha) hes a great character hes perfect he just makes me lose it. i love him so much so much so much (+gotta mention that i love the entire gintama cast theyre all so good)
2. i dont know ill leave this spot empty :)
3. shouya ishida... i dont really care abt koe no katachi anymore (although i still think its an amazing manga), but shouya was someone i could relate to and love from the bottom of my heart at a time when i really needed to read abt a character like him... and i still love him tons. his journey was beautiful and messy and bumpy and never truly "ended"... and it makes me happy remembering how he turned out in the end :')
4. dungeon meshi is my most recent fave series so its kinda hard including it in this list but whatever lmao the entire dunmesh cast are favorites. esp mr laius thorden...
5. greed fma- ok listen i first watched fma when i was 12 and he (and ling but esp greed) was my absolute FAVE i loved him sooo much. 6 years later and there are so many characters in fma i appreciate and love more now and yes i got wiser, i think there r characters much better than him in this series. but greed is just... he was THE fave and i dont think it has entirely changed. i usually dont go crazy over him anymore but sometimes. AAAAAA. hes just so much my type what can i do. he really defined my taste in fictional men back then

You can ignore this i was ranting abt mdzs and how i dont like mxtx last night while i was incoherant and found this in my drafts and decided to post it
Okay i got bored so i reread parts of mdzs and honestly...the pacing and chronology of the novel is wack. Like having the story be told with the flashbacks woven in after the points are relevant is so messy. For example when the bridge scene happens after wwx ressurects and takes jin lings curse and lwj carries him, lwj asks him if he remembers when wex carried him. In the novel, the reader has No Clue what lwj is talking abt bc that scene from the past hasnt been reveal yet. Instead its revealed next chapter and we get the whole flashback. This way of telling it is so wack bc it doesnt let the reader put 2 and 2 together for themselves and just force feeds u the information and frankly!! its boring!! Its not nearly as rewarding as the way the drama did it where they just show the flashback all at once and then the viewer gets to figure out for themselves what all the parallels are when the hapoen in the future. Idk i just rlly dont like how the novel was paced in a way and i think if the story was just told in chronological order itd be much more impressive. Having the story jump around so much makes it feel like mxtx didnt plan out the story that well and just came uo with things are it was serialized which is p messy. The drama is also confusing in the chronological order of things but at least its like.. ok 2 episodes of the present then 30 flashback all at once then the rest is the present. Its less confusing (even tho its STILL confusing as hell at first). Honestly in terms of starting the story i think the donghua does it best. But yea idk. The more i look at the novel the more i realize mxtx got lucky with mo dao and shes not the most disciplined writer. Like idk seeing the nivel just makes me appreciate the drama more and theres no fujoshi shit (the novel has some good points but i think the drama is by far the best iteration of the story) but yea...anyways its 1 am and i shouldnt be thinking abt this nearly as much..imma go to bed and schedule this for later

FINALLY getting around to answering the special interest ask meme i reblogged like two weeks ago!! (...was it more than two weeks? eep)2. What are your current special interests?MOSTLY WARRIOR CATS..... i thought i had finally """grown out of it""" but apparently that was just me being embarrassed of being so into a childrens' book series bc now that i've let go of that embarrassment im right back to special interest power hour w/ it LMAO. ive read 14 warriors books this year. last week i started writing new chapters to a warriors fanfic i last wrote for in 2013. im currently subscribed to like 50 wc animators on youtube. i am UnstoppableaaaLSO fma i finally finished brotherhood this year and this series grabbed me by the throat i have like 90 fma posts in my main blog's drafts pls helpoh and it's only been a little while so idk if it's really a special interest but i'm currently hyperfixating on a bomb ass webcomic i just recently discovered called Feast For A King (it's hella good but also both hella gory and sexually explicit but if u can handle those things by all means check it out). seriously ive only been reading it for a week and im over 2000 pages in. [where do i get all this free time u ask? It's Summer And I Have No Self Control]18. If your special interest is a form of media then who is your favorite character?*WAGGLES EYEBROWS* my favorite wc character is and always will be hollyleaf bc HOOOOOOOO well mostly bc self projecting but seriously i love her so much. i relate deeply to her identity crisis and i latched onto her when i was going thru something sorta-similar as a young teen. but other than that i think she has a lotta depth in a way most wc characters just don't! a lot of ppl say it's irritating how obsessed with the code she is but i think that just made me relate to her more lol... these days i headcanon her as autistic which i think makes a lot of sense personally! i'll never forgive the erins for bringing her back just to die lol :')in fma it's really hard to say bc there are so many great characters!!! but probably my top three atm are ed, ling, and envy. i love envy way too much for how much of a Bastard they are but........... Uh;; This is gonna sound weird but Suzaku;;; I know I know I’ve been praising him as my son and my fave and he IS but listen. Negative character development is a thing. Suzaku is a wonderful example. He kept getting worse, and while the emotional attachment I formed for him in the beginning was too strong to break, objectively speaking (meaning listing characteristics I appreciate and don’t appreciate) I liked him less and less the more the show progressed.
Dumbledore. I’m too dumb to notice some things without prompting but Christ the internet made me realize how fucked up his schemes were. Major drop in respect.
You can’t stop liking Fullmetal Alchemist characters. That just doesn’t happen. Except maybe with like Bradley and Selim and Tucker and the obvious ones
