BEST EXPERIENCE? oft hard to answer, i have both so many and the world's most appalling memory. the excitement of any budding new ship is truly what keeps me going, but i do remember one in particular with a bar tender muse of mine and a 'straight' firefighter that just... oh it was good. then more recently it would be meeting @okajibana and forming my whole existence around her, you're stuck with me now! plus every time i get a notification from @irrwicht or @temporalobjects my day is always improved.

Fuinn was always frustrating to me because I actually do think Cory and Dianna had chemistry, but the characters were just never given even a single episode to breathe. Even the scenes where I think there was genuine emotion, like "can we be in love again?" or when Finn shows her the Lucy pic, the rest of the episode is banging us over the head telling us not to believe anything they're saying. Like their break-up scene in S2, which I think is maybe one of Cory's best scenes in the entire series? He's honestly so good that I actually believe him in the moment when he says "Quinn, I still love you". But then the scene ends and it's like...wait, no he doesn't. Not a single thing he did leading up to that scene and nothing he'll do for the rest of the season, hell the rest of the SERIES, will show that he even LIKES her.

But as much as Quinn was the biggest, most longstanding victim of Finchel, it's not like she was alone. Puck, Brody, Jesse...all kind of prove how little faith the writers seemed to have in Finchel's appeal. Love interests were turned into outright villains or dropped like a bag of dirt as soon as fans started to care about them.

Oh I totally get that because whenever I see Cory and Dianna I'm like, such great chemistry! They're meant to share a screen. But Finn and Quinn? Nothing. I do not buy for a second those two are genuinely interested in each other in whatever way. So strange what weak writing can do. But I also think Cory is baby and Finn is trash, so.

Fuinn's writing never allowed them to come across as an actual couple. The first scene we see of them is played for laughs and is about Finn being desperate to get into her pants. When he talks about her in Shwomance, same. We never ever get the impression that he even likes her as a person much less loves. He just finds her hot. And Quinn doesn't even have that lmao like I just don't buy that she's into him in any kind of way. If I'm being generous I could maybe give them the last scene of The Sue Sylvester Shuffle and the Silly Love Songs auditorium scene. Maybe. But for the rest of s2 they're either arguing or just there for Rachel to stare at. And this often happens with your run of the mill love triangles where one couple is so clearly meant to be the "real" one but it's fascinating just how badly they messed up Cory and Dianna's chemistry up. Astonishing how they wasted all that potential. Not that I want Finn and Quinn to be within 50 miles of each other but still.

And yeah lol the breakup scene. It just... falls flat. In the sense that we're supposed to believe Finn really does have feelings and like it's hard for him to leave Quinn. And of course she comes in with her "villainy" and wanting to stay miserable together. Fuinn are just such a fail in every way. Who could ever truly ship them? They truly didn't even half-ass it. I'd argue that even Rachel's other romantic interests were treated better though I of course agree that they suffered for being roadblocks to our "main couple" as well. Puckleberry was a brief adventure and Finn largely stayed out of it but if not for the obsession with Finchel and just Finchel, that could have been something. I think Jesse was treated as a fairly serious threat but there was always the feeling that he was only allowed to an option in the absence of Finn. And Brody, man. Idk what they even expected the fans to react to in terms of Brochel. And getting me started on Brody's treatment is a whole other rant but let's just say he, apart from Quinn, might just be the biggest victim of the Finchel train. Buckwild how that went down.

my favorite female character - santana!! my favorite character of all time. she's funny, she's kind of a bitch but it's because she's making an attempt to conceal all of the feelings and insecurities under the surface, and she's hopelessly in love with her best friend. hello! she's got it all! character of all time.

my favorite male character - SAM!! he's so sweet and so dumb and so hot. he just wants to sing and protect his family and make sure his friends are happy. my perfect little blond himbo <3

my favorite book/season/etc - season 2 is my favorite season of tv ever. i feel like it exists in that perfect bubble where they were writing it while hitting their stride with finding the characters' voices and finding the footing of the show but before the outside popularity started to really influence creative decisions. it's still mostly the core group together, and they haven't started worrying yet about what happens post-graduation. it's only got like four episodes that i don't absolutely love out of it's 22 ep run, and even those aren't that bad. long live season 2!!

my favorite cast member - naya will always be my girl! i always weirdly felt like we would have gotten along well had we known each other. i also really love dianna and chord and jenna and kevin and cory ofc. and i am entertained by lea as a public figure lol

my favorite ship - brittana! idek how to intellectualize exactly what it is about them, but i just love their relationship. i think it's just something about them having been friends first and seeing the good and the bad and the ugly and still choosing to love each other at every crossroads. then falling in love with each other while feeling like they have to sneak around and hide their true feelings from everybody, even each other. and the fact that santana is really only herself with britt, and britt gives her the space to grow into that. and the fact that santana is patient with britt and understands her genius before anyone else. whatever's going on there... i love it.

my anti otp - hmmm santana/dani pisses me off bc i've loathed demi lovato since their camp rock days (for no real reason other than vibes), but idk if that's an anti-otp situation since it lasts all of 5 episodes. it's more like a "get a job! stay away from her!" situation. i also don't like that quinn and puck get back together in season 5. like i actually thought they were kinda cute in season 1, but they don't have much of a shelf life after that.

This abortion ban in TX is just the latest ex., but, you can tell people don’t actually want a real path for Dems to address the issue. They always say Biden should do something!!! And then when you point out why he can’t, and why we don’t have enough votes in the Senate, they’re like that doesn’t stop Republicans!, they take a stand even when it’s not accomplishing anything so their voters know they’re fighting for them! But when Biden set up a commission to examine changes to the SC and Durbin says the Senate Judiciary Committee’s going to hold a hearing about abuse of the shadow docket they’re like that won’t do anything typical Dems just doing things for show! It’s just so clear the goal is to demoralize voters into feeling like they do - Dems are never ever worth fighting for, and Repubs escape all the blame

Once again, I'm begging Democrats, including elected officials, to grasp the very simple concept that Democrats can only do so much with a 50-50 Senate with our deciding vote repping a state Donald Trump won by 40, and the only people who can change that fact are American voters.

Idk, @femalegothic and I were discussing this today but I think American exceptionalism kills us at the ballot box. Americans have a "me first" outlook, and it's not just white Americans either, it's all Americans.

Look at it like this: every single demographic except white men swung towards Trump in 2020 from 2016. Hillary Clinton won a greater percentage of every single demographic, including white women, than Joe Biden did but he won a marginal percentage more of white men so he won the election and she lost. Trump got like 12 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016, which means people saw what Trump did for four years, and went "yeah, we want four more years of that."

Donald Trump yelled at all his rallies how Cory Booker would come take over the suburbs and that's not even a dogwhistle that's a racist siren, and yet, he got a greater percentage of the Black vote than he did in 2016! I said it before and I'll say it again but Donald Trump didn't win because Hillary Clinton was a bad candidate or a bad person or whatever. He won because he said the things that a large percentage of America believes, but doesn't have the guts to say and he made it acceptable to say them. When he yelled that all Mexicans are rapists, a large part of America went "so true bestie!!" and when he said that men should grab women by the pussy, a whole bunch of men went "wow it's so awesome he puts those dumb bitches in their place."

I.e. Donald Trump didn't win despite being a racist misogynist, he won because of it, and the sooner we accept that reality, the better.

Because the media likes incompetence and sensationalism and a Democratic administration doesn't give them that, and makes them wade through complex policy documentation to write their pieces instead of pithy tweets shot off at 2am.

The silence between them was as loud as it could be.

Tugger realized, of course, as soon as Anália said it, all swishing, nervous tail and gangly limbs, that he'd been blissfully ignoring the whispers and looks his son had been getting. He'd assumed, foolishly, that Anália could stand tall and ignore it, let it roll off of him like Tugger let things roll.

In this, Tugger realized, he'd made the same mistakes as the others: he'd let Anália's physical similarities translate to personality similarities without even taking into account how his kitten felt. He'd been guilty of hoping that Anália might be like his shadow, a copycat he could show off, and had not been shy about his own disappointment that Anália would not and could not command attention.

And so, Tugger was at a loss. He couldn’t tell Anália not to worry about it, because that was the exact problem, and he couldn't tell him that wasn't how it was, because Anália could hear what the others thought of him. Anália knew better than anyone how he was perceived. Anália knew everything.

"Ani..."

"I'm just this weird thing!" Anália said, pulling at his mane in frustration. "I can't do enough magic to be interesting, I'm not brave enough to stand up for the tribe, I'm not not nimble enough to dance, I'm a stupid, useless disappointment!"

"Whoa, hey, wait a minute," Tugger said sternly. "You are not stupid or useless and you are not a disappointment."

"Yes, I am."

"You are not."

Big, green eyes started watering and a shake took over Anália's voice. "I know that's what you think of me."

"Ani, come here."

Anália let the tears fall as Tugger pulled him into his arms, just barely tall enough to press his face into the spots on Tugger's chest. Tugger held him tightly as Anália wept, feeling tears prick at his own eyes as he felt his heart ache for his sweet, shy boy.

"I don't think you're stupid," Tugger said softly, petting Anália's ears. "And I don't think you're useless."

"But you think I'm a disappointment."

"No, I don't," Tugger said, sighing. "Parents do this weird thing where they foolishly tie up their hopes in dreams in their kittens and then wonder why they aren't exactly as they planned. I'm not too proud to admit that I had certain hopes for you."

"That's what being a disappointment is."

"No. Anália, listen to me." Tugger rested his cheek on the top of Anália's head. "Just because I made the mistake of thinking you'd be exactly like me does not mean you are a disappointment. That's on me, not on you. And I'm sorry for making you feel like I felt anything for you other than love and pride."

Anália hiccupped and swished his tail nervously. "...I wish I were more like you."

"Ignore what everyone thinks. Why do you want to be like me?"

There was a tense quiet before Anália mumbled, "Nothing bothers you. You're so confident all the time."

"I hate to be the one to tell you this, Ani, but you just happened to meet me at a time where I've seriously mellowed out," Tugger chuckled. "Your dad did a lot of that mellowing."

"What do you mean?"

"I used to be really angry. Big old chip on my shoulder. And I used to do things out of spite. You take some time and ask Auntie Meter why she and I don't spend time together. You are so much more level-headed than I have ever been in my life. You're not reckless or foolish or spiteful at all. You are so much more than I've ever been."

Anália looked up at Tugger with watery eyes. "Really?"

"Kit, you are probably the most steady of all your siblings. I don't ever have to worry about you causing any problems because you've got such a good heart. And you most certainly did not get it from me."

"But... Hekate..."

"She does things as much for the attention as she does for goodness, Ani. I guarantee you that. You are not lesser than anyone. Least of all me. And I need to be reminded what a good and kind little kitten I managed to receive, despite it all."

Anália snuffled. "What about everyone else?"

"Don't pay what they think any mind. If they can't say it to you then it's of no consequence. Ask Cori and Tanto to work with you more to block it out if it starts getting loud, okay?"

"Okay."

"I'm sorry I hurt you," Tugger said earnestly. "I love you very much."

"I love you, too."

Tugger grinned. "Here, you wanna be like me?"

Anália looked up, puzzled, before Tugger licked a finger and swooped it around the tuft of hair on Anália's forehead, creating a curl like his own.

"There. Try that on for size for a little bit. But don't let me or anyone else try and make you feel like you're not wonderful, yeah?"

Anália smiled. "Thanks, Papa."

"You're welcome. Go knock 'em dead."

Patience: she’s the character that doesn’t seem to sugarcoat anything. She can be very vocal, blunt, and sometimes sarcastic. (I get Sag, Scorpio, and Aries energy or maybe even Capricorn? Who knows that’s another topic lol.) However when it comes to relationships...if she’s in one of those moods where she doesn’t want to hear it or wants to keep SOMETHING to herself and feels that the person who is making this statement to her is being overtop by saying such!!! she’ll probably turn around and say something along those lines just to say it, not really fully meaning it but said it because she’ll know that’ll get you/them to shut up. Now if it’s someone who said this to her and she’s pissed/dislikes their character then she wants to see if they’re really about it. Patience is ride or die—that much is obvious ex.) when it came to her tossing the gun to save Coop’s ass.

Layla: she might be sweet but she’s got some spice in her. Layla can be a mean girl and she knows words hurt. Sticks and stones don’t mean shit around here. Again these all depend on the situation but I do feel like if this was out of hurt then Layla’s going to say this to make sure the person knows she’s serious when she says this. When she’s hurt she wants everyone else to feel what the hell she’s feeling. Which can be a unhealthy trait but that’s why I placed her here. Layla can take her hurt out on anyone in her path since she doesn’t know how to handle her pain due to her own neglect from her father.

“you will” — I placed Chris, Coop, and Jordan here

Chris: I feel like Chris will say this nonchalantly not really believing the person thinking they are just saying this to be saying it. He thinks nothing of it, actually finding it amusing more than anything. It’s more of a question mark with a dry tone more than a demand...unless you’ve pissed him off. We’ve seen pissed off chris and it probably doesn’t feel nice to be on the receiving end. Then in that case it’s more of a prove it statement which is also insane. But I’m sure this meme isn’t that serious to begin with 😂

Coop: we’ve already seen how that went with her and Spence. If someone said this to her she’s immediately confused and giving you/them a “wtf” glance. “You will—what? I’m not asking you to do all that. I’m not asking anybody to do anything for me, especially dyin’! I know you dropped something on the ground a few seconds ago and clearly, it’s yo mind!”

Jordan: this guy! My main man’s on the other hand...took me a minute to place him somewhere accurately. I feel like he can also fit in “I’d die for you first”= If he’s talking about Simone or someone he’s in love with, he might say this but will be shitting himself if that time actually comes literally speaking ofc. and “cool” = if he’s being asshole Jordan from season 1. Anyways, Jordan can be stubborn and impulsive (which is why I think he’s got Taurus and Aries energy) so again it depends on who exactly is saying this to him. Jordan is a guy about action so if you’re saying this to him, he wants you to not only mean it but show him how much you care. This is a demand.

“please don’t” — Olivia, Simone, Kia, and Darnell are taking this spot for me

Olivia: she’s been close to death before twice and daily with her addiction + witnessing Spencer take a bullet before and to have someone else say this to her is absolutely triggering so don’t say it or do it pls because she cannot and will not handle/cope well

Simone: she’s confused and will literally beg because she doesn’t want that on her Conscience. Even if it’s not that serious she doesn’t play with the idea of death. There’s too much to live for and she’s thankful that the person thinks so highly of her but she values life and knows she’s probably worth it but she never wants to have any control over anyone’s life especially when it comes to that aspect

Kia: similar to Simone. She’s looking at you/them crazy and asking if they’re okay? She might even laugh shortly about it. She’s aware of her worth but no one should have to end their journey in this lifetime over her. She appreciates it but it’s a no from her regardless

Darnell: “why tho?” Is basically his expression or his words. Then if he finds that they truly mean it he’s flattered but would much rather have them around to enjoy their time together. He already lost someone pretty important to him before (Cory) so he’s a little upset by what was said. He likes to keep the people he cares about close to him as possible even if they don’t mean it literally

“cool” — JJ, Shawn, and Vanessa

JJ: it’s more of a thrilled “cool!” Like wow you care that much about me that you’re willing to not only do that but eventually say it? Words of affirmation is JJ’s thing okay?! Automatic respect from JJ!!! If this is said; and it’s most likely mutual from him. Are we even surprised?

Shawn: he doesn’t believe it. It’s brushed off and he’s probably distracted doing something but it doesn’t really click until it’s quiet and he realizes. “You’ve been listening to that song by The Weeknd again huh?” He jokes but still appreciates them/you for saying such

Vanessa: it’s more a smile and shrug. She clearly heard what was said and she’s like “IKTR.” It’s hinted that the girl is confident and likes for others to be the same and to stand in their truth. Which is why she’s so drawn to Asher (😒 girl says it a thousand times since we’ve met her) and JJ. So if this is said to her it boosts her ego even if they’re just saying it to get on her good side

“I’d die for you first” — Spencer & Asher

Spencer: this is no shock. Do I even have to explain lol? Coop. Olivia. Spencer is a protector yet it can come off as a super hero complex. He can’t save everybody. But he will for damn sure try. That’s his character. He cares for his people and will do anything for them. And anyone. If that means death too then so be it.

Asher: again it depends on the relationship with this person. If it’s someone he truly cares about I think he’ll say it before he actually means it? Asher is still finding himself as a person (as they all are) and he seems to always search or either find what he can get from someone else? Ex.) Layla and Olivia + potential love interest with Vanessa and I don’t think it’s really intentional per say but if someone shows him a little bit of attention or that they care he can cling onto that (Leo energy? again probably a issue from his parents) quite quickly. So he might say it because it he felt like it was the right thing to say in that moment. Or if he’s genuinely in love, then this is what he’ll say because he seems like he can be passionate in relationships idk about him

My Top 10 Ships of 2020

It's been a weird year but I've seen other people doing this. Plus this year I've been way more into gen fics (love a bit of found family especially in clone wars and marvel) than anything shippy. So I genuinely don't know what imma put on here aside from two ships for sure. Sorry this post is super long idk how to do the below the cut thing and I've had this app for 5 years...

10) Viktor Nikiforov and Yuuri Katsuki - Yuri!!! On Ice

It was a real toss up between this, supercorp, kanera and wolfstar cos they're all very integral ships to my fan heart but this son because of the Yuri on Ice fandom's rebirth this year. I've never stopped shipping this, never stopped reading fanfic of them for any extended period of time, they're still my most bookmarked ship on ao3 (although I think now star wars - all media types may have overtaken them for fandom). They were one of the first things I watched where the queer ship I loved became canon and I can't wait for the film (and hopefully someday a season 2). Heck I even made my mum watch Yuri on Ice with me so I think that says it all.

9) Edelgard Von Hresvelg and female Byleth - Fire Emblem: Three Houses

My first fire emblem game was fates when I was like 14 (and finally gay awake lol). I was so disappointed that I had to be with a guy character because the only female option was kinda creepy and also I wouldn't get the character of kana. So when three houses came out I was so happy because finally there were beautiful incredible female characters my female byleth could romance (I'm so sorry mlm you deserved so much more than you got). I got the game as soon as it came out (had to search a lot of shops let me tell you) and started on black eagles. I was actually kinda disappointed back in 2019. I didn't like the explore the monastery bit (still find it kinda tedious) and the battle mechanics weren't quite the same as fates (no pairing up?! Aka my main battle technique for protecting the weaker units). So I got like 20 hours in and put it down. Came back to it in lockdown and finally finished it! I'm so proud of myself I virtually never finish games. And I fully fell in love with the useless lesbian edelgard in the process. When I started back playing in 2020 I was like eh I wish I'd picked a different character to romance (like shes an emperor that's morally very shady) but then the romance stuff started with edelgard and I fell the heck in love.

8) Cory Matthews and Shawn Hunter (and Topanga Lawrence) - Boy Meets World

Disney+ was released in the UK this year and I finally got the opportunity to watch boy meets world in its best quality (aka not on YouTube). I watched it back when I was like 12 or 13 and it's such a nostalgic show for me. Watching it again I still absolutely adore it (and my bi ass was low-key crushing on Shawn especially in chick like me - I'm 18 btw and I got so scared for a sec but rider strong was 18 when chick like me came out so it's fine woah). And of course now I see the possibilities of the beautiful Cory and Shawn relationship like they were so bromance it was basically romance and throw in topanga it's the perfect ot3 (but I'm also fine with just Cory and Shawn or just Cory and Topanga). Read some good fanfic for them this year. My favourite was one about Shawn stealing makeup and stuff and exploring gender (need more fics like this I'm biiii).

7) Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes - Marvel Cinematic Universe

I rewatched all the MCU films this year too. And got really into Peter parker whump and irondad. Plus my eternal obsession with identity and relationship reveals of course led me from Spiderman identity reveals (and found family cuteness) to stucky coming out. Especially when it involves the internet and social media. Not my favourite ship but it's been significant to my year due to the sheer amount of marvel stuff I've read.

6) Satine Kryze and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars

I rewatched clone wars in prep for season 7 and wow Satine's death was sad and sudden. She first appeared in S2 E13 I think and just the sheer sexual tension of their bickering. "The sarcasm of a soldier. The delusion of a dreamer." Just ugnnhhh my bi ass can't take much more of this. And Anakin just sipping his wine in the background grinning. And I fully believe korkie is a Kenobi.

5) Commander Cody and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars

I am very much an Obi wan multishipper. I don't really have a favourite but I fully believe he was with satine and Quinlan in his life. I don't think be would've actually done anything with Cody because of the whole superior officer thing. And this probably isn't even my favourite Obi wan ship - that honour probably goes to quinobi or obitine. However the most popular ships in the fandom are codywan, quiobi and obikin. No offence to anyone who ships these they're just personally not to my taste, but I can't stand quiobi, and obikin I find only slightly more tolerable and I think that's just because there's so much obikin content so if I like the concept of a fic that happens to be obikin I'll read it. I'm just not a fan of the mentor/student relationships. So I generally favoured the codywan fics when there was shipping involved meaning I read a lot of them this year. Needed that nice fix it content post season 7.

4) Zuko and Katara - Avatar: the Last Airbender

Again I am a multishipper I have nothing against zukka it's cute. But I'm a zutara shipper first and foremost because when I first watched avatar I was like 13 and denying my gayness and gayness in general so I shipped the straight things and the straight things only. Most of these ships I stopped shipping - dramione, spuffy, some my little pony ones which we don't talk about. Zutara stayed. (I have nothing against any of the things I used to ship I just stopped shipping them so much/shipped new things more). I've continuously shipped zutara since I first watched avatar even if I didn't necessarily spend that much time on it it has always been here as one of my favourite ships. It has such good fanfic I swear including my favourite ever fanfic from any fandom - love thy enemy. Plus like the black games (reread this for the millionth time this year), a delicate subterfuge (which I read for the first time this year and damn it's so good) and so many more. With the avatar resurgence this year I haven't actually rewatched avatar aside from my normal random episode every now and then when I feel like it. But there's been a lot of avatar on my dash from people I follow getting into it and people I followed for avatar returning so naturally I returned to the fandom and read quite a lot of fanfic. I also read just a lot of avatar gen fics which were great at the whole found family thing I've been so obsessed with this year.

3) Catra and Adora - She Ra and the Princesses of Power

Catradora is canon! They kissed! What more is there to say. Arguably they should've been top but I never shipped them that much since I was always very much a multishipper when it came to she ra so yes I was very happy it became canon because we actually won for once but also I've never read much fanfic for them etc. But they are very much a dynamic I love and watching she ra all again in prep for season 5 I really enjoyed the build up of their relationship. The other two only go above because Buffy is my favourite show ever and damn there's some good fuffy fanfic and Aphra and Tolvan is both fresh in my mind and star wars owns me. Would love some catradora fic recs btw if anyone has them tho.

2) Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I didn't realise it was last year that I got super into them but according to my ao3 bookmarks it was lol. 2020 I swear it's lasted an eternity. I got into them about a month before lockdown (which feels like another lifetime). I've loved Buffy since I first watched it when I was 13. It's arguably still my favourite TV show. I've been through a lot of ships for Buffy - bangel to spuffy and now fuffy. I still think angel and her were a beautiful ship back in season 2 and especially in the angel episode I will remember you. But faith and Buffy had so much chemistry in season 3 - she would've been a fresh start for Buffy and the amount of fix it fics I read I swear. My favourite has to be one where they met in LA during Anne and how that changed everything feat Buffy's internal homophobia.

1) Cheili Lona Aphra and Magna Tolvan - Star Wars

I read Darth Vader (2015) and Doctor Aphra (2016) for the first time at the end of 2020 (got a comic subscription which has served me very well already I've nearly finished the star wars canon comics). Just to see canon queer ladies in star wars was so magical for me as a queer lady. I didn't think star wars would be so overt yet as to have a queer kiss in canon (even if it's in the comics) and especially not with the main character of arguably their main comic series. Now we just gotta hope that we'll get it in live action someday soon. They weren't the ship I consumed the most content of in 2020 but they were the highlight of my 2020 because star wars did that and I finally found out about it

Honourable mentions: Vivian and Elle - Legally Blonde, Candace and Vanessa - Phineas and Ferb, Stevie and Alex - Wizards of Waverly Place, Xander and Spike - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I actually don't ship this but damn some authors are good - this was the ship that made me realise I don't need to like a ship if the author is good enough to write it well), Eli Vanto and Mitth'raw'nuruodo - Star Wars (started reading the books last year but finished this year and only started with fanfic this year), Villanelle and Eve - Killing Eve, Kanan and Hera - Star Wars, Barriss and Ahsoka - Star Wars, Remus and Sirius - Harry Potter, Kara and Lena - Supergirl (let's hope this becomes canon next year!) (Those last four are ones I've shipped forever some of my og ships but nothing particularly big has happened for me this year with them so)

I got Disney+ this year so rewatched a fair few things from my youth and though hey my obsession with that character may have been a little gay.

I have a question if that's okay, how do you feel about quite a lot of fanartists and fic writers creating art and writing fanfiction in which santana passed away? I find it just wrong, like adding salt to an open wound, but I seem to be in the minority.

I don't like it and would never seek it out, but I try and hold out on judging those who make it or consume it because Idk them and everybody deals with things differently. Like, I personally think it's disrespectful because Naya was so much more than the character she started playing on a show 11 years before her death and it's not like it was with Cory where the show was still going and Finn died within the series. Let the character that helped so many live happily and in peace with her wife forever. I don't get enjoying anything that resembles what happened to Naya. But that's just me.

hi hello just putting shtola under a microscope a bit with no conclusions drawn or anything, shb spoilers below

when you first get to slitherbough and meet with shtola and the other scions in her private quarters, she and thanny have a little. exchange. about ryne in front of here that ends up with thanny walking away, annoyed, and basically saying "that was rude, you've changed."

(i find that exchange to be a bit funny bc they see each other again for the first time in years, judging by ryne's comments suggesting she's never met shtola, and immediately they press the right buttons to annoy each other)

anyway what this post is actually about is the next bit of dialogue. shtola wonders how ali and alphi have changed in their time on the first and then you get a dialogue choice.

the first choice is "change is part of life. we can but hope it's change for the better." and if you choose this shtola seems regretful of the way she spoke to thanny and says she'll speak with him later.

the second choice is like "perhaps you should be more concerned with how you have changed." a bit snippier than the first lol and shtola responds by sort of. doubling down? and saying that she has changed but she doesn't regret the decisions she's made that have gotten her here. (the caveat here is haven't heard this dialogue voiced so idk how she says it but the fact remains it's kind of an opposite answer to the other)

and i just think the difference in responses is really interesting! if you are kind to her she'll realize she could have approached him in a kinder way, even though she had previously said she spoke to him like that because she expected better of him. but if you express more direct disapproval she's like. i dont care what you think :)

anyway like i said i dont have any conclusions drawn from this i just think the differences are interesting and have been turning them over in my head and thinking about how that might affect her relationship with cori obv (i went with the first option for them of course bc cori approaches pretty much everything with kindness lol) and i just wanted to write it down idk

1. ToppDogg/Xeno-T

As I’ve mentioned on my blog a few times before, toppdogg is the only group i’ve stanned aside from svt, and the group that got me into kpop. i could say a lot about them but i’m gonna focus on music recs! my favorite td song is without a doubt rainy day, which is the title track for their last* album first street, which is also my favorite album by them and the first kpop album i bought if memory serves. i especially recommend the b-side sunshine.

first street is pretty different than their other music so if you like it you may not necessarily like their other music but some of my other td recs include annie, arario, topdog, and open the door. if you like rap you might want to check out peekaboo!

*by “last album” i mean their last under the name toppdogg. after rainy day era td went from ot9 to ot5 and rebranded as xeno-t and released the japanese single together which i love

ok, from my understanding boyfriend used to be more well known so on the whole they may not qualify as an underrated group, but i specifically want to recommend their song to my bestfriend which was released in 2016 and only has 1M views which is a shame bc its honestly such a good song its so cute

Billy Russo/ Jigsaw- Down on Your Knees by Flora Cash. This whole album (can summer love last forever) was very influential when I was writing Jigsaw, specifically Blue. It’s about being so close to having it all and then having it all taken away. Standout lyrics: “almost winning and now I don’t know but it seems like it’s almost away from me. Maybe one day I’ll be strong enough to find it out and I’ll know it all.”

Ryan Brenner/Passing Through- Devil Put The Coal in The Ground by Steve Earle & the Dukes. This one makes the list because it’s fun and I feel like it’s something Ryan might play with Georgie and Louie. (Which happens soon in PT!!) Standout lyrics: “He buried it deep, it’ll never be found, devil put the coal in the ground. Said that’ll be a diamond some day” 

Logan Delos/ SYiNY- Sleepwalkin by LUTHI. This song. No. This album. NO! This band is such a vibe for this story. But this song in particular is fun and funky and surprising and it highlights how much Logan’s life has changed since meeting/ working with/ falling for Reader. Standout lyrics: “She keeps me company most every night, sliding from dream to dream. Sleeping’s never felt so right. I’ve been waking up all hungry-like.” 

Logan Delos/ The Bottom- All These Little Cowboys by Cory Branan. This is easily one of the most heartbreaking songs I have ever heard, and therefore one of the most Logan Delos #BlackHatForever song I’ve ever heard. Standout lyrics: “So they settle for the bottom and they make for the door and all these little cowboys break like someone’s keepin’ score.” 

Logan Delos/ Core Drive- Light of Love by Florence + the Machine. This song (like so many from this goddess) gave me violent chills the first time I heard it. There is such threadbare desperation and yet really buoyant hopefulness in that song, and it echos the story I’m trying to tell with CD. Standout Lyrics: “ In some ways that was simpler, being too fucked up to see. I didn’t have to wake up to the world that was around me.” 

Logan Delos/ Oblivion & Simplify- Darkest Shade of Blue by Young the Giant. This song is incredibly intimate. It’s very short, just a quick little moment in time, but it has this really slow, almost time-stopping effect that reminds me of their first real night together, when Reader is honest with Logan about her situation and both of them let their guards completely down. The song is so short I’m going to share all of the lyrics: “Lights are out the world begins to fade and I want you to know you’re not alone. I want you to know you’re not alone anymore. I’m here with you when your hands are shaking. I’m here with you when your heart is racing. I’m here with you in the darkest shade of blue. You’re not alone anymore.”  

Nick Tortano/ Made Man- Slow Tune by Ashok. This is super jazzy and maybe doesn’t really fit Nick’s vibe, but it feels like a song the Reader character in that story might listen to, and sort of describes what it’s like to fall for a guy like Nick. Standout Lyrics: “Something started on that day, something happened to my heart, something strange. It was a quiet rain that fell upon your face and I knew then that I had won the losing race.”

Nick Tortano / Our Time- Tick of the Clock by Chromatics. The song that started this series. It has no lyrics. If you need to add tension to a situation, especially a time-influenced situation, THIS is the song to listen to. Guaranteed to stress you out (or pump you up depending on how adrenaline treats you), I listened to it on loop while I wrote 10,800.

John Whittaker/ Let’s Face the Music & Dance (LFtM&D) Make Someone Happy performed by Jeff Goldblum & the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Sigh and swoon. This is the most fun of all my playlists because John at his very core is the most fun of all, period the end. I don’t want to give too much away because this is still in the very early developmental stages, but think big bands and happiness and GASP! laughs instead of tears. Standout lyrics: “make just one heart the heart you sing to. One smile that cheers you, one face that lights when it’s near you, one girl you’re everything to.” 

King Caspian/ STILL FUCKING UNTITLED Trouble by The Franklin Electric. Might seem like a weird choice but it was the song that I was listening to when I was cleaning out a closet and was struck with the dumb idea to write this story. I really need to stop floundering on a title and pick one because this is nearly ready to start posting. Anywho. Standout lyrics: “Two found lovers in a place so far from home. Be the last of the believers and you laugh in the face of old. If everything is buried and you still can’t find your home, and I know believers I know. I know trouble like it’s all I’ve got.”

i found this question SO funny on first read, like i just want you to know this is the first thing my brain thought of in reaction:

GJFKDLSJGKLFDSJHGSD anyway. i think the equivalent to what you’re asking here in the states is like... lockers. and the thing is this is actually a revealing question, because whether you use your locker (and for what purpose) is pretty telling of your personality. for example, i never used my locker in the last 3 years of high school and just kept everything in my backpack. this was kind of necessary when we only had 6 minutes of transition time in a huge school, but you get the idea.

farkle uses his locker, and his is kind of centrally located so its easy for him to come and go to it between classes. he doesn’t use it so much for schoolwork (he has his messenger bag for that), but he’ll keep spare items in there just in case like a jacket, a blazer, dance shoes, etc. in the early school years his locker is very sparsely decorated (because he has no friends...), but as we’ve seen canonically over time he decorates it with pictures of his friends, which grows in variety as the series goes on. the interesting thing about farkle’s locker is its more of a set piece than other character’s -- in certain episodes like 208, it basically IS farkle when he himself is absent. so his holds a lot more visual power than everyone else’s.

maya doesn’t use her locker. she keeps everything stuffed in the extra pockets of her dance duffle, which also doubles as her backpack. she takes it everywhere and rarely stops at her locker. if you opened it, there’d be nothing but a few crumpled assignments from like, freshman year that she never completed.

riley uses her locker sporadically, sticking mainly to keeping things in her backpack. she’ll leave a few textbooks in there or extra pairs of things like dance shoes and clothes if necessary, but she rarely goes to it. she has a couple of photos hung up inside, but otherwise she just doesn’t spend much time in there. she might also leave her coat in there if it’s a wintery day, but by senior year she’s more likely to drop it in the booth.

zay doesn’t really use his locker except to store his dance duffle between classes. he has photos in it (including the one of charlie featured in 211), but it gets updated infrequently since he doesn’t spend a lot of time there. he basically swaps out his backpack for his duffle, and his backpack is like standard green and one he’s had for ages so it’s flimsy but he’s decorated it with pins, buttons, and doodled all over it over the years. another thing is that he has this thing of letting his best friends over the years doodle something / “sign” his backpack, so he has stuff from his friends in middle school as well as yindra, nigel, riley, and yes, even charlie.

charlie is someone who uses his locker religiously (ba dum tss), partially i think because it gives him some place to orbit around as he goes through his day. there are a lot of canonical scenes with him talking to people at his locker, so people kind of know that’s a place to find him between classes. he has photos of his friends (well, Known friends, like haley + clarissa, pics with yindra from les mis, his sisters, church friends, etc), and he also has a little divider in the lower half that acts a shelf so he can separate his dance shoes and stuff from everything else. he tends to keep his backpack and dance duffle in the locker unless he needs it for a specific class, and then collects all his things at the end of the day each day.

isa uses her locker pretty efficiently as well, and she takes care to make sure it’s very organized. dividers, magnetic whiteboard with a to-do list, yeah she’s that bitch. she doesn’t necessarily go back and forth to it a lot each day (she knows how to get use out of her backpack), but she has it all worked out so that everything is exactly where it needs to be when she needs it. she doesn’t have a lot of personal affects in it though.

lucas... well. he didn’t use his locker at all until he was kicked out of the booth, because the booth was like... basically his locker as well as his semi-home lmao. like why bother to use your locker when you’re just gonna come back to the booth at the end of the day anyway? but once he got ousted he kind of had to recalibrate, and he uses his locker solely because he still just has a lot of... Stuff at school. he’s basically a little nomad and so he’s got his whole travel duffle stuffed in there at all times since it can’t be in the booth anymore. that said, even though he uses it, i don’t think lucas decorates it. that’s just not who he is and ain’t nobody got time for that.

asher most certainly uses his locker, and we’ve seen him use it more than a couple times in canon. he’s somewhere around charlie and isa in terms of how he uses it, but i think his has slightly more personal touch to it. he’s also got a back-up stock of like... every important thing he could ever possibly need in a little bin at the bottom of it, like an emergency first aid kit but for also like. self-care and school supplies lmao. in freshman year he had a mirror in there but when he became friends with lucas and dylan who would, incidentally, end up slamming his locker door a lot on accident, he got too nervous the mirror would shatter and got rid of it (which is probably a good thing because it effectively forced him to stress about his appearance about 34% less than he would’ve otherwise). he has some pics of the techie crew and pics + letters from dylan hung up now instead.

dylan has shit in his locker but he doesn’t really use it for school. he’s basically created a little quick shoppe out of it and has stores and stores of things like gum, extra writing utensils, candy, snacks, water bottles, and during testing season, scantron bubble sheets. he’s basically like... a dealer, only its school supplies + self-care stuff and he won’t charge you any money lmao. the interior door of his locker though is stuffed full with photos of his friends, family, and asher like 15 times. he also 55% of the time doesn’t even have a backpack. like he will show up to school with literally nothing and yet, somehow it doesn’t seem to matter. cory hates him for this and eric was suspicious of the locker shoppe for a while (even though once he got to know dylan as a person he was like okay yeah nvm he’s fine lol), but they’re just hatin bc dylan is using the system in his own way! he won’t do it the way they’re used to and they’re gonna have to DEAL WITH IT!
