hear me out Borderlands fandom. I present to you: my ideal little world that I'll be living in (long as fuck lol)

Rhys isn't a corporate asshole CEO. His attitude in the new TFTBL never happened. Atlas is a group project, with Rhys at the head- but he isn't some kind of overlord. His friends pitch in. Athena gives helpful anecdotes about equipment she used to find useful in the field to give him ideas. Janey doesn't work there officially, but she'll lend a hand when needed sometimes. Cassius was a great help before he passed, and there's a plaque in his honor on Rhys's desk. The people who work there are happy and heard- their only complaint about Strongfork is likely his habit of having somewhat idiotic ideas and being a massive dork 24/7. he wears sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt to a board meeting.

Fiona becomes a successful Vault Hunter- she lives for the thrill of the fight and the discovery, and catalogues everything she figures out about Vaults, the Eridians, and the beasts that guard the treasure she retrieves. When he's lucky, Rhys recieves bits and bobs of tech in the mail that she thought he'd find helpful. They might not always be close physically, but their friendship remains strong as fuck. Her, Rhys, Vaughn, and Sasha's friendship. All of them stay together at heart.

Vaughn sticks with the Children of Helios, and they don't die out. Some of them wander away with time and integrate with other Pandora communities, while others stick around and help him make the remains of Helios into a functional settlement filled with pacifistic people. People who can defend themselves, sure- but they try to stay out of the fray. He visits Promethea to see Rhys regularly. Rhys supplies the Children with shields, weapons- any tech they need. With the friendship discount- he can afford it now. They don't idolize him anymore but there's always friendly faces waiting when he has the time to visit (not often, running a company takes more than he ever thought it would). Vaughn uses his former accounting skills to keep a keen eye on the resources coming in and out of town, and becomes great at problem-solving for the community he's built. He never becomes a dumbass bandit enthusiast with no personality asides from the word "cool".

Sasha and Rhys may not work out romantically in the end, but she's not just GONE, and her and Rhys remain friends. They just had different interests- Sasha wants to see the world(s), explore, and find new things, and Rhys is happy where he's settled, making Atlas a healthy community. She travels between planets exploring the different communities she finds and having all kinds of adventures, getting embroiled in trouble wherever she goes- and writes home about her new friends constantly to her sister and friends. She's happy. Maybe she even works with Hammerlock at some point, fascinated by his research into alien species, fauna and flora!

They love each other. They meet up for dinners, and reunions, and they're happy that the others are happy, even though they aren't constantly at each other's sides. ECHO calls and letters keep each other close. Katagawa and the Maliwan attack hits Atlas hard, and Rhys loses contact for a while- but the others get there as quickly as they can, and help him clean up in the aftermath. Even Fiona and Sasha take a break for a while from their adventures to be there for their friend, who's company was so nearly destroyed. Fiona jokes that there's always a place on the vault team for him. Sasha says he's welcome to visit Eden-6 if he promises not to be squeamish about the wildlife. Vaughn offers up a place on Pandora, if he ever needs it. Them. That's all.

So lets dissect Marcy's dream fantasy, and see if we can find something out about her minor dreams and desires.

So we learn what Marcy's dream hairstyle is, as she wants to grow out her hair to shoulderlength, and have a fantasy styled braid that goes around the back of her head.

Also, she wants to dye the part she uses for the braid green to look cool.

Compare that to this hairstyle she had on earth, where she seems to have... I have no idea. But the fact she immediately lost this exaggerated hairstyle when she came to Amphibia tells us that it's something that requires maintainance.

Also compare it to her natural, non grown out hairstyle seen here.

The fact that marcy's hair is so far removed from what she actually wants, suggests heavily that back on Earth, she was discouraged from trying to grow into this style, either by her parents forbidding it, or Sasha and/or Anne thinking it looked stupid. And so she didn't try having it.

Yet another way real life refused to let her live as she wished.

Also she imagines that Anne would look at her absolute best as Link from breath of the wild, and Sasha as Edelgard from Fire Emblem.

There is a hell of a lot of reasons for why she would think either, so i wkn't try and dissect it here.

Just know that this is how Marcy thinks Anne and Sasha should dress to look as good as they possibly could.

Also, a detail i noticed while comparing the fantasy versions to their actual selves is that, these fantasy versions have lost almost all of whatever chest size Anne and Sasha have grown at 13.

I normally wouldn't comment on that(What with them being bloody 13 and all), but since this is how they looks in Marcy's ideal, perfect in her mind, fantasy world, i figured it's there is probably a reason for it.

If i had to take a guess, it's something that just entering her real puberty Marcy in the real world feels self-conscious about, given that unlike them, she has not developed much in this area at all.

All 3 of them are ludicrously tall for their age, but unlike her, Sasha and Anne have actually begun on the road to grow into adults, while she's still middleschool Marcy, just taller.

I can definitely see Marcy feel self-conscious about that.

Without ✨Any✨ Consideration of “But how is this possible?” or “How will we get there?” Here’s a thumbnail sketch of my Ideal World (incomplete; I’ll add to this over time)

(Because you have to be able to imagine it before you can build it, and I’m needin’ some radical Hope Punk, right now).

Inspired by this video from leftist, Canadian, masc-ish NB, YouTuber Thought Slime: “Welcome to Slime World” (uploaded 7 January, 2022).

Infrastructure:

Neighborhoods/communities would be built around the best concepts of university campuses, but without the “Ivory tower” elitism. That is: all of the spaces to meet people’s social and physical needs are kept within a discrete area, where spaces for rest, activities (whether “work” or “leisure” -- though distinctions between those two are blurry or nonexistent), eating. storing and exchange of ~stuff~, etc., is all built on a pedestrian scale (And note that “pedestrian” =/= “ambulatory”). Individual living spaces/apartments are smaller, and there’s a Community Center as the “hub,” with dining halls, information, and tool, libraries, etc..

In current-world university campuses, this is so the offspring of Society’s Elites don’t have to mix with the “common rabble” to get their needs met -- they can stay within the bubble of the campus, where it’s (presumably) “safe.” But in 0mnikorn World, there are no such hierarchical distinctions; this is the set up because it allows for smaller-scale renewable energy and food production, so that you don’t need power stations or factory farms to supply millions of homes in order for a solution to be “feasible,” which leads to greater variety of solutions, suitable to the climate and needs of that very place.

(and speaking of climate, I’m feeling hot and muggy, right now, and my mind is drifting. I’ll come back to this).
