There is not "wrong" versions of the egos!!! There are a million and one designs a for every ego depending on the blog, artist, writer etc. Every marvin looks like a wildly different character and people have their own headcannon personalities, genders, orientations and more for every ego. Some people have multiple aus and characters intertwined. So dont go telling anyone their version of the egos is incorrect or not accurate because these characters have been up for interpretation for a VERY long time so please remember that. If you dont like someones version of the egos or its not accurate to whatever cannon comes out, shut the fuck up and leave the one who created that version of said egos alone. All your ego designs are valid and creative and fantastic and dont drop them just for the cannon if you dont want to.

Ego shipping is fine! So far we have had no cannon confirmation to say that theyre siblings, the same person, or related in any way that would make ego shipping wrong. If that becomes the case, most people with either drop it or actively start making the egos their new OCs to continue shipping their personalities and designs. however, if that doesnt happen, dont bash people for shipping the egos. The sanders sides fandom and markiplier fandom get along just fine shipping characters played by the same guy so just be less judgy if you feel the need to tell people you dont like what they like. And if you really dont like it, its not that hard to just block an artist or ask them to tag their ship art and filter the tag. Its really not that deep so dont go sending anon hate to people for shipping the egos.

Hi, i hope you dont mind this ask, but i noticed that in your bio post you mention you speak 4 languages and are learning 2 more, and thats honestly so cool and inspiring!! Do you happen to have any language learning tips you used so far that you like? Im in the process of learning french as my 3rd language and while i have the structural knowledge of how to learn a language, i have hit somewhat of a wall in my learning process rn i think. So while i know language learning varies a lot from person to person id still apreciate knowing other peoples process if youd be okay with sharing :] hope youre having a nice timezone

hi! i definitely don't mind, glad to hear you're learning a new language :D big reminder at the top that i'm just some a guy who's way too into languages and linguistics. you want to ask me about jewish theology on the concept of knowing, go right ahead, but in terms of language pedagogy, this is just my personal experience from learning a lot of languages and spending a lot of time thinking about this stuff, though i do have some experience in education. take everything i say with the grain of salt of my personal context!

my initial tips kind of revolve around your goals; do you want to get generally better at the language, or are you specifically looking to strengthen certain areas? if its the former, i recommend doing anything and everything, but most of all practicing, and practicing with french speakers (or speakers of whatever language you may be learning). it might be embarrassing, especially if you're trying to speak with native speakers, but it is hands down the best way to learn, and it means you get very hands-on practice.

if you want to strengthen certain areas, it can depend on which, and it can also depend on your learning styles and what works best for you. for a couple examples: if you want to improve pronunciation, flash cards can be really helpful, and i know quizlet has ways of including pronunciation. if flashcards aren't your thing, i recommend listening to native speakers (i.e. youtube videos, podcasts, etc. etc.) and repeating after them to try to get down their pronunciation, and i recommend a variety of them so you pick up on how pronunciation varies by accent and region. another example: if you want to improve comprehension/listening ability, again, i recommend listening to native speakers and getting the hang of what theyre saying; this is particularly helpful if you can watch something with subtitles in the language as well in your own native language(s) so you can pick up on exactly what they're saying. i do this sometimes when i'm watching cellbit-- instead of putting stream captions on english, i put them in portuguese so that i can see what he's saying along with hearing it. this works well for me though bc i read pretty well in most languages i speak/am learning and i already speak spanish, which makes reading portuguese very easy. again, it depends on your own learning styles and what works for you, so find something that really clicks with your brain and run with it. and this goes for any goal you might have-- if it's being able to read books in french, you can practice reading kids' books and move up to something more advanced; if it's translation specifically, you'll want to look a bit into translation studies and look at professional and amateur translations to see how it's typically done.

there's also the context of the language itself-- yiddish literature is a HUGE part of yiddishism, and translation is also a really important factor for a lot of people, so we read a lot of books and poems and did full translations of texts as practice, but for some languages, there's far more emphasis on song, oral storytelling, writing, or any number of things. if you've previously focused on some elements while learning other languages, it can be strange to switch to something new with another language, but it really helps round out your understanding of the diversity of languages and how cultural context has an impact on it all.

my big big big tip is to practice as much as possible and, if you think you're plateauing at kind of an intermediate-advanced level, that's very normal. every language i've studied, you reach a point where you have a pretty decent grasp on a lot of technical things, but you still don't necessarily feel super confident in the language. i recommend studying new vocab, as that will make you feel more like you can speak it at any opportunity, and engaging in media in the language, like i said above. when i got into advanced yiddish, we read and practiced and had conversations constantly, and it helped me gain a lot of confidence that i was able to open a text and know a lot of what was being said, including vocab, without having to reach for a dictionary all the time or ponder exactly which auxiliary verb was being used, or to be able to express myself really clearly to my peers.

i think it's easy to feel railroaded after you've got a lot of grammar and structure down, so you need to find new ways to gain knowledge and confidence in the language so you don't get stuck at that level. also find a crew to speak french with!! i wouldn't have learned yiddish nearly as well as i did if i hadn't had friends in my classes and built connections in the yiddish community at large, and i think that's a really meaningful way to engage with a language. language is about human connection, so finding ways to build that really does help. and don't forget to review!! you will, if you're like me, get caught up in some element of the language and then may misremember some basics, so it's always good to review those and keep up with anything that might start to slip your memory.

one last thing! if you learned another language as a kid or a teen and now you're learning as an adult and finding its not quite as easy, this is also really normal. kids' brains are so, so good at absorbing information, particularly languages, and it's very normal to get into your twenties and thirties and be like "why can't i learn this as fast as i could as a kid?!" the easiest time to learn a language is as young as possible, but you are not late to the game or slow. you just came at it at a different time, and you're still going to be able to pick it up. especially if you're trying to learn in between other classes and work and just general adult life, it's just going to be a bit harder, and that's okay! for thousands and thousands of years people have been learning new languages at every age and you are not alone in that. may we all have a decent time at it, and best of luck to you. bonne chance!

what are some good, various ways to say "i love you"? or maybe just even ways to say "i care about you"?

so since this isnt directed at any of us in particular, ill assume that its meant for all of us ! ill start

everybody knows je t'aime, come *on*. still, i assume i have to mention it. "je t'apprécies bien" literally means i appreciate you well, but comes across as similar to i enjoy your company. in a similar vein, "j'aime être avec toi" is i like to be with you. je tiens à toi is i hold you dear basically ?

that said most of this is... very hard to translate. see. uhhh if you read further down, ray explains that americans overuse love this and love that and blah blah, where russians will use almost strictly their equivalent of like. and the french have a similar distinction ? yet Not the same, as in we have a triple graduation for this. we have j'aime, which can ironically be both i like (casual) and i love (romantic) depending of context, j'aime bien (i like this but firmly rooted in casual) and j'adore (i like this, but more intense, like when americans pull out i looooove chocolate, but also can be translated to i treasure you when you say je t'adore). well ignore for now slang versions such as je kiffe (i dig) and the like as i simply cannot remember them. j'aime and je t'adore essentially switch to romantic when you adress directly someone (ex : je t'aime/je t'adore), though adore is also context dependent, it is somewhat allowed in family use, and if you use je t'adore it basically translates to i cherish you both in tone and use.

as for the i care for you, we don't. have that ? i think ? je me fais du soucis pour toi is i worry for you, je pense ("fort"/"très fort" optional) à toi is i am thinking of you... yep no no straight translation i think.

theres a lot more i just find this tricky to deal with because we are verbose as fuck about affection, as everything else, and have many variations. id need a fuckin masterpost id double check w several people to quite list french expressions of apreciation tbh

Russian is very straightforward, but we generally don't talk about love a lot. Where Americans would say "I love this movie", "I love your dress", "I love [any random thing]", we would use "like" or, weirdly enough, "adore". Heavy says "I adore this Doctor" in the Russian dub.

For romantic love, we most often just say "I love you". For a confession, we would more likely say "I like you". As a side note, Google Translate sometimes turns these phrases into "Я Вас люблю" and "Вы мне нравитесь" respectively, which is correct but not in use since, like, the 18th century. It's an overly polite form. For a more natural, contemporary version see: "Я тебя люблю"/"Ты мне нравишься". Though the mechanics of formal VS informal language are delicate enough to warrant their own post.

We don't usually use the word "care" because saying "I care about you" in Russian is the same as "I care for you", and can be seen as motherly, or just straight-up have a different meaning from what is implied. We'd insteady say "Ты мне (очень) дорог" - "You are (very) dear to me".

In fact, thinking just bc she's your mother you're required to love and respect her is lowkey the abuse working on you. Don't let your brain wire itself that way. She's not entitled to your love, respect and obedience just bc she decided to push you out of her and you are not her personal dress-up doll. Fuck what she says about your hair and clothing choices, you're you, not whatever warped version of you she expects you to be.

And idk if she's aware you have RSD or a dif neurological disorder, but RSD is a common trait in neurodivergent people and if she's taking advantage of it knowingly, that's ableist as shit.

You're valid the way you are and you have every right to hate someone who constantly tears you down, fucks with your emotions and self-image, acts entitled to your autonomy, and demands you take all of it with a smile. I've been there with my dad in the past. I know the feel to a certain degree. It's a lot of mental gymnastics but if you keep rationalizing things and disregarding everything she says because YOU know you best, you'll come out of it a little less fucked up one day.

I really apreciate the kindness and support people have given me reguarding this. For most unaware, i do have self diagnosed adhd(educated guess, i just fit all the symptoms and it explains a lot of my life experiences. Am planning on trying to get a clinical diagnosis soon) and it causes me to have a lot of sensitivity to critisism and it causes a lot of self hatred. I have a lot of perfectionism and even though she's a really good parent and she loves and supports me some of the things she says as a very judgy person just hit me a lot in a very personal way. Shes not someone that takes critisism very well herself and because im non confrontational person i dont like to rock the boat. Shes not abusive, not at least the way i would consider emotional abuse, but i feel she does sometimes just not have this awareness of my senstitivity, especially when her critisisms are so often on the basis of me doing non-heteronormative things. Having an androgynous hairstyle, dying my hair colours she doesnt like, dressing in a way thats more conventionally too queer for her(even though she'd never word it like that) and the way she'll constantly encourage me to change who i am just really leads to self hatred. I wont do these things because they wont make me happy, but the critisisms lead to this sense of self hatred and self conciousness in moments where i once felt confident. An example of this is the robbie the zombie cosplay i did for comic con this weekend. I litterally chose the day where id wake up in a hotel and have time at the end of the day to change into something more normal that she wouldnt mind me wearing before i got home bevause i knew her first comment would be a critisism. She gets angry with me using a rude tone with her that I'm not aware I'm using simply because whenever she comes to talk to me I make the immediate assumption that she's going to say something that will feel like she's tearing me down. This perfectionism complex I have can lead to a lot of the things that she says just feeling like I'm not good enough for her. I'm planning on trying to work through it in therapy when I start it but it's just a general thing that I have to deal with in every once in a while it really hits me all-in-one go when I have multiple things stressing out. I don't think she's emotionally abusive and she really does look out for me and support me in so many ways, but it's just that with this aspect of our relationship she hasn't seemed to have reached that point where she allows me to have freedom of expression without any form of judgement from her. I'm trying to move on from it and soon enough when I get my own place or when I move out or when I get a partner or just a better support system and found family in general I won't have to feel so judged and consumed by what she wants for me. Until then it's just this rejection sensitivity thing that I'm going to have to work through and suffer with because of this major issue with criticism and perfection is and that I have for myself.

It's really sweet the amount of people on here that are really supporting me though and saying really sweet things about me. The way my mother reacts to my opinion on how I look makes me feel unattractive and ugly and like I would look better wearing things that I don't want to wear. When I post pictures of myself on here however people react to it in a way that makes me feel really good about myself and proves to me that her opinion is not the only one i should listen to. I'm still yet to sort this out with her because I don't like to confront her on this kind of thing. She reacts very viscerally and attends with me usually just feeling guilty and like a horrible person so until I can get past the way she manipulates my words during confrontations I'm just going to have to find myself some confidence in a place that isn't her and deal with the criticism.

so the main points for this finale the thing is are; biskit being a deux ex machina mvp rip kevin van newtton (he truly didn't deserve to die kvn actually helping?! also give him a break nightfall predicting or forsaw what they needed THE LORD COMMANDER NO LONGER A THREAT AND EMPRISONED (n the same prison that bolo was, that what you get for killing him ah the irony) hue is finally op and gets a worthy body their sickness being gone after they escaped fs the confrantation bettween fathers and son that we deserve; so little cato finally lets all the emotion out confronting avocato, and the delivery is amazing lil cato "why didn't you kill me" was just so raw and painfull, the truth that avocato killed his parents and responding to it now,  remenber he didn't get to procces this info while being kidnaped so seeing both gary and avocato triggers it back and wants anwsers. and then proceed the most beautiful way of displaying lil cato shock throught the camera and breaking down f thas not adult animation i don't know what is. then avocato gave his reasons, that because he gave him purpise that he saved him and leaves his guns to walk to his son and that show that he trully cares for his son. when gary said he' sorry that they failed ash i was hoping to she at least consider it, she did but only for a moment when we met ash, she was trying to control this power and to not let it consume her, but as to now, she los and succumbed to it and look anyone who watched the finale has the right to be mad or hate her, i mean she kidnapped lil cato, joined invictus POSSIBLY OFFED MONNCAKE! so yeah i don't blame you, and thought i would too, but i just feel sad and dissapointed in her because of what she's become. (like varian in the tts s1 finale) and when i thought nobody was gonna activate the bridge, lo and behold tribore appear and saved them "huh you weren't useless after all" that what i said and caught myself because he delivered all the other resident from final space i feel we didn't apreciate mooncake this season! after everything he stays behind to stop ash to just get beaten by her, i don't think he's dead if so we would've seen it but man gary plead to not leave just broke my heart because they been through soo much and now left him and look even though i wanted them to go back for mooncake, quinn did make the right choice but im scared how gary's gonna react to it, and when finaly thingns seem to be a bit better, invictus escapes and he is truly a monster that exited from a lovecrat story, and honestly, i haven't felt this hopless since season 1, and even if they managed to escape there's still a lot of shit to unpack, the guilt arc of the cato, monncake lost ash and invictus, and id be lying if i said i wasn't scared, but like s2 it procced to deliver and awsome storyline and side plots to it predacesor and i hope s4 would do the same

reverse willy wonka

just for shits and giggles last night i sat in bed thinking of like, a reverse version of charlie and the chocolate factory where charlie is the naughty kid and all the others are actually nice.

this came from the thought that i had which is that for the most part, as unpleasant as their personalities might be, when you think about it the actual “crimes” for which they had an ironic punishment can be mostly chalked off as kids being a bit too overeager to have fun and try new stuff.

(i should clarify, this is not me “deconstructing the chocolate factory” or doing a n-dimentional hot take or making some complex kind of gotcha where i want to make you feel bad for judging the kids in the original story, this is just a personal writing excercise called “flip the premise” where we retool a story to turn the bad guys into good guys and the good guys into bad guys, is a great source of inspiration and a way to create new interesting stories you havent seen before)

lets start with the easiest one, Agustus Gloop, this shouldnt take a lot of retooling, he is just a kid who loves chocolate, perhaps a bit too much, he is clumsy and over eager and his enthusiam came not from mindless gluttony but from an honest apreciation of candy. who best to inherit a factory but someone who is deeply familiar with its product and who can share that love with the world?

next comes Violet Beauregarde, someone who is focused, disciplined and interested in trying new stuff. someone else made this post for me in the past about how violet should have been the true heir of the factory, their arguments were basically that she was willing to experiment and put herself to the test and so would be the case for this retooling. a dedicated explorer with an industrious personality.

afterwards we get  Mike Teavee, a very smart kid who seems to be into it more for the challenge than for anything else. the fact that he was able to calculate where the chocolate was by himself already speaks wonders. he seems to bring an inquisitive spirit to the factory, fascinated and willing to learn, understand and pick apart the wonders around him. much like violet not afraid to experiment putting himself on the line, to the point that even after being transformed he doesnt seem to be bothered by the result, excited as he was by the new breakthrough. an inquisitive mind ready to push the limits.

finally we come to Veruca Salt and this is the one that will need the biggest amount of adjustments considering how agressive and disruptive she was in the original story, but i figure we can spin her desire to “own” a part of the factory into her wanting to buy stock in the company because she is an angel investor, willing to fund strange new developments and give willy wonka the chance to further experiment and expand his industry. after all investing is the fuel of industry which allows the economy to grow.

and then there is Charlie Bucket. it feels mean to grab a nice child and twist his attitude for the worse but i am a completionist and want to see this little thought experiment through. in an alternate version where he is the bad guy charlie would probably be a mindless sycophant. a devoted admirer of wonka who worships the ground he walks on, agreeing with everything he says and harshly attacking anyone who dares challenge wonka or contradict him in any way. the most irritating kind of fervent religious follower, with a pious attitude and a cultish demeanor.(but also on top of that a hipocrite because he does drink the fizzy lifting drinks when he thinks noone is watching)

in the flipped version of the story the plot would actually be more or less stay the same, with the kids going to the factory. we get to learn about their personalities, we come to be annoyed by charlie. much like in the original story the kids would be picked off one by one for their excessive enthusiasm, whith charlie feeling smug for seeing those kids “get what they deserve” for daring to disobey.

until the we reach the end and much to the audiences dismay it seems that is only charlie that remains. his confrontation against wonka happens, except of course in this version charlie doesnt give away the gobstopper but he takes it away fully intending to give it to mr slugworth. wonka lets him go without a care in the world.

then once charlie is gone wonka goes into another room and here we see the other kids, sitting all around a table, a little worse for wear but otherwise unharmed. wonka reveals to them that they showed to be industrious, experimental, appreciative, curious and not afraid to try new stuff, make mistakes and get messy, which are all qualities that he deems perfect for the new four owners of the company.

when one asks what will be of the stolen gobstopper wonka winks and says something to the effect of “did you really think id give you guys the real gobstopper?” everyone laughs. the end.
