Champions partaking in some special herbs (Champions x Reader)
A/N: I really hope this cheers someone up.
Champions x reader
Summary: Imagine getting high off your butt with the champions.
Link
Feral goblin energy or slow sweet cuddling night. No in between.
Imagine, the usual goblin energy, but amp it up by 10. Pranks everyone. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
He wont drag you into it since he can't really focus as usual, but you're not to far back laughing with him and helping him out.
There is no stealth aspect to this pranking time of yours. You guys do what you want and people hope they're not on the list.
When he's all soft, he clings on to you like a koala.
you're the softest things he has his hands on so you're not going anywhere, and you don't mind.
when you run your hands through his hair in this state, he melts like ice cream.
Tickle him. I dare you. (He head butts you in retaliation. BY ACCIDENT!)
neck kisses are his favorite when he's like this
Holds you so close and taps your palm three times, a secret little signal for "I love you"
Urbosa
Bath? Bath but make is sensual.
Are you two gonna start making out? In the bath? Maybe. Who knows.
She will absolutely dance with you. She just holds you close and spin with you.
You have never heard her giggle so much, it was so different. It was refreshing. It was something you will never ever forget, or that's what you tell yourself now.
She smells so good. Has she always smelled like flowers?
Becomes more wild in the best way possible.
Gets both of you up to Naboris somehow to go star gazing. Tis lady can be so extra for you if you'll allow it.
"My most beautiful treasure"
Mipha
She lets herself sink in the water and just vibe.
She becomes like such a blush-y school girl around you.
Wants to make out with you constantly. ope
Please stay in your rooms when you're both high, that's what you learnt.
Cuddles you so much.
nearly cries because she didn't believe you two were a thing at first.
You might accidentally lose her at some point. You wonder around and found her in some shallow water, just vibing.
Stares dreamily up at you.
"Youre the best thing that has happened to me"
Revali
You know that picture of a bird laying on their back, legs up? That.
The smile on his face is of pure giddy-ness. Child-like.
He will snuggle you. No doubt. Can't change my mind. He just sits in his hammock with you and rubs his stupid little face on yours.
He chirps!
He will start taking some of the loose feather off of himself and start braiding it into your hair if you have long enough hair.
If you don't, he'll just start putting it on your clothes.
He looks at you like you're made out of starlight.
He lets a lot of his emotions out with you when you two are like this.
He says the "L" word right in front of you without checking if anyone else is around.
Super sassy bird boyfriend and cute giggly partner.
"Please don't ever leave me"
Daruk
Please be careful!
How did you manage to get him high?
He's not the safest to be around when he's like this, not gonna lie. He's not only strong, but so clumsy now!
He's a hoot to be around now, so much more than before.
He....um... accidentally threw you off a cliff one time. Luckily you were caught. You were also really high so you just laughed it off.
There was a long discussion afterwards when you two came out of it.
He just wants to hold you when he's high as balls.
when he starts to settle down, he just lays on his back staring up as you're cuddled on his chest.
"I'm gonna keep you safe no matter what."

I NEED To Talk About Robbie In Tears Of The Kingdom
*Spoilers for both Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity. *
So I’ve been playing Tears of the Kingdom for the past month because of course I would. It’s only my most anticipated game of 2023 and the sequel to one of my favourite Zelda games in the franchise after all. Well, most anticipated game of 2023 that doesn’t feature one of the best Spider-Man suits as a central mechanic at least! And you know, I’ve been having a dam good time with Tears of the Kingdom. Running around Hyrule, sending Koroks into space, helping my bro Sidon save Zora’s Domain from Sludge, helping my daughter Riju fend of some zombies, kicking the ass of a giant ice worm with my new son Tulin and helping Yunoboo and the Gorons get over there new addiction to crystal meth. Also building a new home outside Terry Town because I leave my old home in Hateno Village for a few years and suddenly the place is infested with Mushrooms! But umm, there’s one thing I haven’t been able to get over yet. One teeny tiny insignificant thing I NEED to talk to about someone. And that is well, umm… WHY THE FUCK IS MY MAN ROBBIE GETTING THE SHORT END OF THE STICK IN THIS GAME!?!?!
Okay so some of you might not know what the hell I’m talking about so let me give you some backstory. In Breath of the Wild released SIX YEARS AGO HOLY SHIT I FEEL OLD we meet two Shekia scientists who were both around 100 years prior to the games events before Calamity Gannon came and did to Hryule what Star Wars fans did to George Lucas’s sanity and absolutely decimate it! The first of these is Purah who in an attempt to turn herself into her much better Tears of the Kingdom six years early decided to experiment on herself with de-aging technology but ended up de-aging herself to much and turned herself into a loli and now she lives in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab with her man slave Symin where she’s also able to reactivate the camera on your Shekia Slate because it was 2017 and everyone wanted to post there shitty selfies on the Hyrule Version of Instagram. Meanwhile Robbie doesn’t get off that lucky and is still an old man who looks like he’s going to keel over and die at any moment if you were to swing a Deku Leaf in front of him and I’m convinced he’s only managed to stay alive for all these years because of the power of determination after playing Undertale like once and seeing how effective it is. He also now spends his time hanging around the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab and hangs around a wired talking robot who spits out admittedly one of the best armour sets in the game and some ugly woman named Jerrin. The most significant thing Robbie does this whole game is ask you to strip naked.
Now let’s talk about Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity which is both a sequel to the original Hyrule Warriors where you slaughter the entire population of the United States masquerading as Zelda enemies and also a semi prequel to the events of Breath of the Wild 100 years ago when two of the best Zelda characters of Urbosa and Mipha were still alive. It’s also in this game we see Purah and Robbie and what they looked like before old age and lolification hit. Purah a very pretty woman who looks to be in her 20’s probably and Robbie? Holy shit! Robbie looks handsome! This ladies and gentlemen is Robbie at his peak. Handsome, active, has fun and the best part is that he and Purah are even playable in this game as DLC. Not as separate characters but rather as one character and they both work together. AND Robbie is carrying on him a pair of badass dual chainsaws to fight of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas’s clone army. Ash Williams? Fuck him! THIS is Robbie (and Purah’s there two I guess.) Objectively speaking the best version of Robbie in this series is the one in the semi non cannon crossover with the franchise I’m pretty sure was originally made a social experiment to show why throwing more bodies at the problem is morally wrong and doesn’t work unless the person playing it really does think that Dynasty Warriors game are just mindless button mashers which THEY ARE NOT and if you need me to prove that further you un-cultured shits, go play Fire Emblem Warriors! That game alone proves my point that these games require more thought from the player than…
Now we move on to the latest game in the Legend of Zelda series, Tears of da Kingdom. In this game we see Purah again and that the de-aging has worn off and she is started to get older and in her current state, oh boy Purah in her current state! I mean, what can I say about Tears of the Kingdom Purah that hasn’t been said already!? She’s beautiful! She’s gorgeous! There is a dam good reason a good 90% of the Zelda community likely wants to fuck Purah and have her have there babies! Now what about Robbie? Surely after her own experience Purah is going to give her old pal Robbie that technology and de-age himself to get him close to his Age of Calamity de… NOPE! Robbie is STILL stuck as an old man who looks like he’s going to crumble and turn to dust. Considering his friendship with Hyrules Next Top Model you think he’s get a break and be blessed with the same immortal life Purah has. The worst part is that after a certain point he will leave Lookout Landing to go back to Purah’s old lab in Hateno. Alone. No one to keep him company like in Breath of the Wild. Nothing to do after you complete the Purah Pad upgrade side adventure. The poor guys probably going to spending the rest of his life as a hermit whose entertainment is laughing at grown men on Hryule Twitter cry about the most insignificant shit like the skin colour of a fictional character. UNLESS Purah still has that technology hidden someone in her old lab. Maybe… Maybe THAT’S the REAL reason Robbie is in her old lab! To use her de-aging technology on himself! He doesn’t care if the process takes 100 years, he will do it!... Right? Unless he’s gotten to the point where his memory will start to deteriorate. He will forget who Link is, who Purah is, who he is. He… he’s not there to save himself. He’s there to die. Forgetful and forgotten. *Sigh.* Poor Robbie. This game’s done the guy dirty. This game needed to give the fandom someone to simp over but in doing so, they neglected poor old Robbie. Nintendo clearly hates Robbie and only Team Ninja give a shit about him.
*Sigh.* I’m sorry, I’ve made myself sad. I think maybe I should just get back to building my new house. Make it my dream location to live in. Maybe I’ll even adopt Riju and Tulin as my own kids and have them see Sidon and Yunobo as there new uncles. Maybe even try to find a way to use Age of Calamities time travel shenanigans to bring a still alive Mipha to my time so that we can start a family… What’s that? You say Tullin already has a farther and mother who are still alive and healthy? *Dresses up in the Yiga Clan armour set.* Not for much longer! Glory to the Yiga Clan and Master Kohga bitches!

So Sooga gets along with Revali, Sidon, Riju- what about Urbosa and Daruk? I don't think I recall the dynamic between him and the others. And I think Kohga is missing a few too- i guess im asking for headcanons here.
Oh good point. All of these are susceptible to change, so nothing is particularly set in stone.
Sooga;
Enjoys hanging out with Revali. He admires not just his talent, but the fact that he hides his insecurities very well. Match that with his quick wit and their mutual love for making fun of Link honestly makes them buddies. They like to train, have tea, and have a nice crab omlette (Sooga is on and off in terms of how comfortable he is, eating around Revali). Revali, along with every other rito (namely women) have a crush on him. Sooga just, fucking attracts birds for some reason.
Sidon is his close second friend. Big as he is, a lover of fish, Sidon is annoying in a sort of endearing way. He likes fishing, hiking, swimming, collecting shells with him. When they aren't having fun outside or fucking, you'll see them indoors, whittling while Sidon goes on and on about some story. Sooga likes to listen, Sidon loves to talk. They just work.
Riju. Riju is sort of like his niece. He treats her respectfully, but having grown up with six sisters, Sooga has the instinct to care for her. He takes her out for ice cream, he does her nails/hair, listens to her rant, and even helps pet sit Patricia from time to time (and Patricia LOVES him, she blows him kisses all the time). He's also kinda protective. A boy her age tried talking to her, he went missing the next day. Odd I know.
Urbosa. Urbosa acts like HIS older sister, and while women make him uncomfortable, he trusts her more than most. She's always there to give him words of encouragement, always there to help him against some rather hungry ladies- she just has his back. Sometimes they meet up for a nice dessert and talk about what they like in men (Urbosa loves ladies too, but women are lost on Sooga).
Mipha. Sooga and Mipha get along. They aren't at each other’s throats, but Sooga isn't exactly nuts about her. She finds him slightly imposing, he doesn't like being near women-without Kohga, they're awkward with one another.
Teba. Sooga and Teba actually get along pretty well. They're both rather strong and silent types. That is, until Sooga asks about the family life. They end up sitting next to each other, tending to their weapons, while Teba tells him what it's like to be a dad. They're quiet overall.
Daruk. Daruk and Sooga...they co exist. Sooga doesn't hate him, but he isn't a fan. Jealousy from Kohga aside, Sooga doesn't like that he's loud, brazen, VERY touchy, and is constantly trying to get him to eat. Suffice to say, Sooga would prefer anyone else's company (he was once in a room with JUST him and Mipha. It sucked).
Sooga and Yunobo. For some reason, he's chosen to adopt him too, and is constantly acting as his confident. He's constantly making sure he's eaten and slept, and is trying to help him come out of his shell. The 'he asked for no pickles' meme, but in an uncle way. Sooga likes to take him out to smash boulders during the day, and hunt for fireflies at night. Yunobo once fell asleep on him, Sooga didn't have the heart to move him. He had to see a doctor for his back the next day, but worth it.
Link and Sooga have a VERY competitive relationship. They've established early on that they're rivals, and as such, wanna beat each other's shit on a daily basis. They lowkey need to stop hitting each other and just bone, everyone sees it.
The Great faeries. Not champions, but imma include it anyway-they coddle the crap out of him because he's honestly adorable to them. He really. Really wishes they'd stop kissing him, just ONCE. They're all better than Malanya though, for some reason he fucking HATES Sooga.
Zelda. Sooga...does not like Zelda. I'll leave it at that. Let's just say you shouldn't leave them alone together.
Impa/Purah/Robbie. Its fucking on site with Impa, Purah is actually tolerable, and Robbie is just fucking annoying.
Kohga!!;
Kohga of course, LOVES his lil red fishy, Mipha. You kidding me? She's a cherry! An absolutely precious lil ruby! Kohga loves her SO much, she can pretty much just waltz into the clan whenever she pleases, and gets whatever she wants by asking for it. They're ABSOLUTELY bff's. Shopping, cooking, talking about boys and taking selfies, they're practically joined at the hip. I'm telling you, Kohga would end game any bitch if Mipha asked.
Daruk. Kohga LOVES the guy! Not just because he's easy on the eyes, but he's big, loud, rowdy, pair that up with his love for food, and these two can keep each other company FOREVER. Just, be warned if booze is allowed, and may god help your pantry. When they AREN'T raining hell, they spend time at the hot springs, and let me tell you, you've never seen two dudes happier, they're like pigs in shit.
Sidon. Kohga and Sidon get along great! Nice to look at, Sidon is also just a sweetie who just. Does whatever Kohga tells him to. Like Sooga, but dumb as hell. One of the few people that BOTH of them can hang around with. Seriously though, Sidon is a big dumb sweetie, Kohga LOVES it.
Urbosa. Her and Kohga get along, in a sorta 'let's meet for brunch on Sundays' kinda way. It's a casual friendship, and honestly? It's comfortable for them. He's still lowkey scared of her though.
Kohga is Riju's OTHER uncle. He's the more 'tell me about the boys you like' kinda uncle. Total enabler, he lets Riju do all the kid stuff she never really got the chance to do. You wanna play with chalk? Absolutely. You wanna get your shoes dirty? Course! You wanna eat all the candy and go pants a royal guard? He's IN.
Revali is an ass. Full of himself, snarky, and so in the closet, they bicker ALL the fucking time. They don't HATE each other, they just fucking can't get along. They fought over BREAD once.
Teba doesn't love Kohga. He's not quiet, he squirms a lot, and even if he's asleep, he tosses and turns a LOT. Teba just puts up with him, while Kohga thinks he's boring, but nice to look at.
Yunobo is more loved by Sooga than Kohga, but he thinks the kid is a peach. He teaches him how to talk to boys he likes. Can't help with girls though. Still sweet to the poor kid though, always brings him something to eat, because he worries.
Kohga LOVES Link! They both love food (especially fried bananas), Kohga loves Link's antics, Link loves Kohga’s funny dance moves- they just click. You'll often see them napping together after a buffet of food.
The great faeries! He LOVES them!! They're big, they're beautiful, they proud and loud- they are just his gal pals. He knows each ones specific tastes, and its so easy for him to charm the pants off of them during tea time. Don't tell anyone, but Malanya is his favorite, they love talking about horses.
Impa/Purah/Robbie. Kohga doesn't hate Impa, but the girl is SUCH a buzzkill. Instead of going and getting her a girl, she's here, scolding him for some random rule. Smh. He LOVES Purah though. They're TOTAL shutterbugs together, and they both agree that Impa needs to get a girlfriend. Robbie is also a TOTAL babe. Like if dude likes to experiment, Kohga can run some tests on that DI-
Zelda. Kohga...hates that he likes her. She's just a sweet gal, and with a smile like that? He can't hate her. He visits here and there for political reasons, but they do have lunch and catch up. Him and Sooga do sometimes help pick outfits/looks as well. And...well. The royal stables are a HUGE plus (seriously, Kohga SWOONS for her white horse. He jokes that he's more handsome than Sooga. He's half kidding, that fucker is a BEAUTIFUL horse).

Sidequests are part of the story so it’s still my ballpark shut up it’s time for
Tumblr media
Read Part 1 here!
Part 2 || Part 3
If you’re on mobile, and tumblr hates this post, follow along on this google doc!
Rules/overview this rewrite in the beginning of Part 1
- - - - - - - - - -
Side quests, side quests, side quests. What are they? And what are they doing here, on an Age of Calamity rewrite? I must admit, game design is not an inherent forte of mine, and I like to think that my only “expertise” would be on writing and storytelling. So what the fuck is a fool like me doing here
Well my dear ladies, lads, and gentlefolk, if your memory does serve, I did say that the format of Age of Calamity was one that served the major plot and story beats for it’s cutscenes, and its worldbuilding and good parts of it’s character development for its gameplay and side quests. It’s actually a concept that can be seen in shows and movies too, although obviously it’s origins are in TTRPGs and videogames. Definition wise, a side quest is any deviation from the main story and plot that serves to flesh out an optional/overseen aspect of the game. So there’s out perfect outlet for worldbuilding, characters, and even a bit of humour. Side quests, by definition, can’t simply be just XP grinders, because otherwise you could…..just make an XP grinder. It’s like saying you’re getting your kids a bike, but then you get them a stationary exercise one. Sure it’s functionally the same and gives the same benefits, but it could be so much more.
Does Age of Calamity have good side quests? I’d actually argue, yes. I mean sure, it’s not exactly gonna hold a candle to Fallout or Witcher 3, but there are great memorable side quests that do serve their purposes in this game.
A fan favourite is “The So-Called Knight,” in which Link spars Mipha, Teba, Sidon, and Revali, a conflict of the Sidon’s confidence and belief in Link, with Revali’s skepticism and grudge against him. Not only is it great fandom content, but it explores the carrying POVs of several characters in a fun way. We also have Hestu’s Dance Competition, and the Miss Vai Battle Pageant. What they lack in serious character tone, they make up for in humour and world building. Even the quests that have nothing to do with the main cast of characters, like the Questionable Escort Mission, still provide funny and interesting details about the world, like how the Yiga Clan is still ever persistent in trying to take down Link with monsters and Windcleavers alike.
It’s not like those side quests were functionally useless either, all of them still provided great amounts of exp and materials. What specifically made them great and memorable was their small little stories and character/world details. Of course, that’s not to say you can’t have the occasional plotless boss rush every now and again, those are fun in their own right and it’s good to have variety. But just thinking about it...what were everyone’s least favourite sidequests? The timed Yiga Escape?  The ones where you sit around defending strongholds? The one hit death Hair-Width Trials? Ah...so all the least enjoyable side quests were the ones that were difficult, with no enjoyable character or worldbuilding to back it up….interesting interesting….interesting pattern indeed.
So, let’s improve the game a bit further. I do need to pace out my future character arcs somehow. I tried to make use of the existing quests where I could, but it’s just eaaaasier to just not think about it and do it from scratch. Just shove these in place of all those quests whose only description is “monsters have been spotted here! Take Mipha and go to work!” and stuff like that. Alrighty then! Here’s my take on cool side quests for every single character thus far, along with their paired gambit attacks. Prepare for heists! Drama! Simping! And Bananas!
Link: Mastering Stasis
Ok I have no idea when this quest unlocks so just for my purposes assume this only becomes available after Link pulls the Master Sword.
Engage the hordes of monsters that have been spotted in Hyrule Field. Now is a great time to master the use of the Stasis Rune. Impa and Zelda accompany you, but it seems stasised monsters aren’t the only thing coming to a tense standstill…
This isn’t anything that special, I just want to further highlight this tension that Zelda and Link have, as it’s something touched upon in Botw, but never really mentioned or used ever in Hwaoc. Now more than ever, Zelda has an excuse to have a rocky relationship with him because she could actively see just how far he’s coming in such a short amount of time. Classic “he probably hates me so I guess I’ll hate him” thing.
You play as Link, the game gives you your little prompts on how to use Stasis, you take out a few hordes of Bokoblins and blah blah blah. I wanted to use an earlier level to establish Zelda’s relationship sooner as obviously it’s gonna be important to the story. But of course like all side quests it won’t kill you to skip out. Text dialogue can be Zelda saying science shit like “This will be a good opportunity to test out the full limits of the Stasis rune” and then Impa’s all “Yep! We got your back, Princess! We’ll clear out these monsters in no time.”Then Link the little angsty shit that he is says nothing, and as you play you clear out more and more bokoblins Zelda just says “...” and then we can toss in a Moblin or two in there for gambit voice stuff.
Gambit dialogue with Impa would be supportive, her usual spunky dialogue. I had two ideas for Gambit attacks with Link: One where Impa does that thing where she cuts a giant laser through the air, but it’s aimed towards Link and he parries it right in a monster’s FACE because I think it’s badass and also a good way to show trust and stuff. The second thing was Impa’s giant bomb barrels, but Link is the one to somehow ignite them, because he is an arsonist after all. He can even have a chaotic Sheikah blue glint in his eyes like blue flame, I can already picture it so clearly given how anime/dramatic Impa’s movements are. Impa sets bombs, Link *teleports behind Moblin* nothin personal, kid.
Tumblr media
Also right at the end of their gambit attacks, Impa and Link should try to fist bump or something (cause the whole “cool guys don’t look at explosions” thing that Impa usually does on her own) but are interrupted by eggbot jumping up to try and join in. And then Impa can be annoyed and try to punt it or something. That’s not just self-indulgent that’s in her character she totally would and I want to make use of the fact that eggbot travels around with Link. The success of her attempts to punt him can vary.
If Link does a gambit with Zelda, her dialogue can just be her usual monotone Princess stuff, “Thanks for lending your strength,” or “There is still much more to do!” just purely professional, we’re not at a stage yet where she’s buddy buddy with Link. Their gambit attacks can still be cool though. One idea I had was Zelda using stasis, and you know how when you use it in botw everything lights up with that sonar effect? So Link stands besides Zelda, and she activates stasis, the first “sonar” light wave reveals the stasised monster, and you see it from the view of the Sheikah Slate. Then with each additional flash of sonar you just see this silhouette of Link going absolute ham on a monster. And then when the stasis “ding ding ding ding ding” is done, everything’s just dead. Can you see my inspiration from Persona 5 yet? Second idea was Zelda using cryonis and makes an ice ramp for Link to shield surf on and ram into a monster. For entertainment purposes Zelda should also be putting frogs on said slide. (Also also the reason I’m putting Link as the main focus for those gambit attacks is because I want to juxtapose it with future gambits where Zelda may or may not be more powerful…)
Anyhow anyhow, so this side quest, you beat some bokoblins, theres a moblin or two. However as you progress Zelda’s dialogue because a bit more passive aggressive, maybe Zelda can be a bit irritated at how quickly Link is defeating everything before she can even contribute. Impa can comment on this like “She hasn’t exactly been warming up to you, has she…” and then the last point of the side quest, Zelda runs off, there’s a...let’s say a big horde of blue or black Moblins. Or a horde of Wizzrobes, I’m not too picky on it. Link can save her and do a gambit or whatever, but the point of importance is that Zelda leaves with the clear mindset off, “You don’t need to keep coddling me, I can handle my own” to Link, but is “Thank you, I’m glad you’re here,” to Impa.
Now I stole was inspired to use this based on this comic by @novellanova, and you should check it out here. But basically, at the end when all the monsters are dead and the last few text boxes are rolling, Impa says something like “Gee, at this rate I might have to protect you from the princess! Hmm…. you know, maybe if you two had the opportunity to hang out more and get to know each other, she’d warm up to you! Ha! That’s it! I’ve made up my mind. Listen up Link, from now on I’m gonna let you man the wheel when it comes to protecting Zelda. So with me out of the picture you better take the opportunity to be the nicest, most helpful, and most effective body guard there is. I know you already are, but still, if I hear that one little Chuchu so much as splat in her direction I will take you down...got it?” And, that’s that.
Side quest done. Fun Link gambits with Impa and Zelda, some little character POVs on the situation, plus an explanation as to why Impa doesn’t accompany Zelda everywhere/nods to the cutscenes of Botw as to what happened to Impa. Alright, that was probably the most boring one so let’s move on to
Daruk: A Rumbling Stomach
Alright I’ll be honest...I have no idea what to do with Daruk. Especially when Yunobo’s not here, I got zip-zero to work with considering his character is non-existent. Further down the line I’ll certainly try to give him more nuances and the like, but I’m afraid the majority of my character efforts have been towards Astor, Revali, Zelda, and [REDACTED] so this is my apology ahead of time, rock fuckers.
This is my take on how to make those timed quests more fun. So basically, the premise of this stage is that Daruk was just happily hanging around trying to enjoy his rock roast, when a monster surprised him and he dropped it, and now it’s rolling down the hill. This is based on my real Breath of the Wild experience where I had to trek up that Volcano path to bring a rock roast for that shrine quest, but at the very top I dropped it and had to chase it down before it fell into the lava below.
Daruk is eager to chow down on the finest rock roasts this year has to offer! It’s too bad things go downhill when monsters start to ambush. Defeat key enemies and rescue Daruk’s tumbling meal before this year’s wait goes to waste!
So, that’s what this is. The stage opens and Daruk says “NOOooOO! My rock roast! Damn monsters!” and you have to defeat baddies and catch up to the rock roast before the timer runs out and it falls into lava. And then when you finish and get back the rock roast that’s pretty much it….except SIKE no it’s not. Because a lot of these timed quests usually have a “surprise! There’s more!” thing at the end so I’ll do that here too. So Daruk has saved his rock roast and he’s talking about how he’s going to enjoy it in all its deliciousness, when he’s cut off by a random Goron’s scream. Turns out, Daruk’s yelling at the monsters about desperation to retrieve his lost lunch has attracted monsters to some traveling civilians, and now you gotta go beat a Talus, or a couple of Moblins, or something...Again I don’t really have level set or idea when these side quests unlock so just use your imagination. Once Daruk defeats the monster(s) the Gorons can thank him, and then one of the Goron kids can be like “Ooo! Is that a super special rock roast?!?” And Daruk is all:  “Ah! Well all the best Goron heroes eat plenty of rocks! This here is the gourmet stuff. You can only get it once a—” And the kid’s like “Woah! I’ve always wanted to have one, that’s why I’ve been training hard so I can explore more of the mountain. Where’d you get it??” And Daruk can sputter a bit, before finally sighing and giving into his instincts. “Ah….well, why don’t you have it? You’re probably really hungry after running around with those monsters…”
“Woah really?? Are you sure—”
“YEAH JUST TAKE IT ALREADY GO”
“Woah, thank you!” and then the Goron kid and co run off. Cue Daruk crying to himself in the background. Daruk may have an appetite, but I like to characterize him as the Goron Hero first and foremost.
I’m sure that doesn’t stop him from mourning his rock though.

Mipha: Stronger Sentiments
Mipha and Daruk talked a whole bunch about training together so that Mipha can grow stronger, and Daruk was catching on to her crush on Link and it was a nice interaction in between them except for the fact that we never see them do the damn training so that’s what this is.
I think this is as good an opportunity as any to make this a Hair-Width quest, the ones where you can’t take one hit. The difficulty of a level is one of the most effective ways to put the players in the boots of a character to experience the same struggles they do. If the player works hard, then they automatically associate that with the character working hard. So, yeah, let’s have Mipha kicking ass and working to be strong enough to protect Link.
Mipha is determined to grow stronger. Daruk and the other Gorons are helping out with an intense training session by Gut Check Rock. Prove yourself by defeating all the enemies you encounter!
So Mipha is sparring with the Gorons, you fight through them and the captains and blah blah, the final boss is fighting Daruk without getting hit.
“I promise not to hurt you more than I’m capable of reversing.”
“Ha! Give me all you’ve got, princess!”
You fight, cue the special music or whatever. I mentioned that gambit dialogue/attacks could also work to be custom for the character that you’re fighting, so I’m thinking something like this. Daruk slams the ground and rocks and magma sprout up around him like jagged pieces of glass, but Mipha is no where to be seen. Daruk’s kinda huffing and puffing, “Where’d you go Mipha…” and then FWOOSH, giant geyser right behind him. [yes I KNOW I overuse the *teleports behind you* “nothing personal, kid” thing but I think it’s COOL and you can’t stop me] So anyhow, you know that thing in Avatar where Pakku is just riding at the top of a whirlpool and destroying everything? That’s Mipha.
Daruk turns around and scratches the back of his head. “...huh….that’s not good.” Cue Mipha swooping down to deal the defeating blow.
So Mipha wins, she can mention how wonderful it was and how much stronger she feels. And she can thank Daruk, and he’s all “No problem!” but he mutters something like “And I thought Gorons hit hard...now I know how Link feels.” End side quest….SIKE it’s another surprise boss at the end. A Goron captain suddenly reports that an Igneo Talus has appeared nearby.
Mipha goes up to fight it, but wow! Link is already there. They both fight it, but it’s clear that Link didn’t need her help that much. You can defeat the Talus with a Mipha/Link gambit. It’s similar to Link’s usual “swing sword in a giant circle and become a death windmill” but Mipha kinda enhances it with water or something and it puts out the Talus. I wanted this ending with a focus on how strong Link is just to show that while Mipha is improving, she’s still not yet where she needs to be.
Daruk: “Sorry I wasn’t much help at the end there, I was busy, uh, stretching.”
Mipha: “Oh it’s quite alright, Daruk. We were both quite tired from today’s training.”
Daruk: “Well I dunno about that...seems to me you were quite lively and active as you fought beside Link. *wink*”
Mipha: “Huh!?!? W-What is that supposed to mean??”
Cue laughter from Daruk. Mipha is flustered. And Link is just...confused, as always.

Urbosa: Mighty Thunder of the Gerudo
So in the game this is just some normal outpost capturing, stronghold defending side quest, but we’re gonna spice it up just a bit.
An important excavation site is being overrun by monsters, and Urbosa has set out to engage them. Defend and capture the outposts, in order to prevent this valuable place from falling into enemy hands…
So you fight as Urbosa, defeat some enemies and blah blah. When you first arrive there, I want one of the Gerudo Captains to be like “Lady Urbosa? Where did you come—What are you doing here? Aren’t there areas of greater importance for you to be at right now?” Urbosa says something like “Nevermind that now, let us focus on achieving victory over these rotten beasts.”
As the battle goes through, it is revealed that this excavation site is where Zelda’s mother would often work and hang out with Urbosa. Urbosa says some stuff like “Her Majesty would not be happy to see all these monsters heading here!” *decapitates Moblin* and then she can say other dramatic stuff at the end like “We have fought well...for her memory” and other classic lesbian pining. Some guard at the end can say “Perhaps you should move on and help out somewhere else, Lady Urbosa. We can handle the clean up from here.”
“Sure,” Urbosa replies, “Just another moment.” And then cue reminiscing. “She always did love these machines…”
Tumblr media
And just other sentimental stuff like that. If you’re gonna be a coward and hold out on the Champion death angst, then you best be pumping that angst and emotion from somewhere, you know?
Also yay for worldbuilding! At least in my rewrite, the Guardian excavations and stuff were overseen by the Queen. Could be a reason Zelda hangs out with Sheikah tech so much...who knows who knows... who knows what other implications this has, it’s just a side quest after all.
Revali: Anti-Ice Training [get it??? Cause in this one, Revali’s gonna break the ice with some other characters?? I’m funny I swear]
Ok so for this one, I want to pull Revali’s character away from just “the birb that doesn’t like Link” and give him some other stuff to stand on. Obviously, there would be other side quests in a fully fleshed out game that did even more to characterize him, but for my rewrite I’m only dedicated this post and one other future post to sidequests, so I gotta really bring out what I can for the few side quest stories I have time to tell
Revali sets out alone to deal with some monsters by the Hebra trail. Although intended as an isolated moment to hone his skills, he finds himself with unexpected company. Defeat key enemies.
So you play as Revali and at first you’re alone, taking out Ice Lizalfos and the like. Revali’s text dialogue can say stuff like “Hmm...not fast enough” “My current needs to be stronger” “*mutters* Can’t compete with lightning and magma with aim like that.” Just stuff that establishes that he’s working hard to really prove himself as the best, but is still a bit insecure about his position. He thinks he’s better than Link, sure, and he certainly thinks that being a princess or a chief doesn’t automatically make you the best. However by this point, Revali has battled alongside the other Champions and seen their skill in battle, and has developed some respect for them. Afterall, Champions were chosen in some part for their skills, unlike Link or Zelda who destiny just thrust greatness upon.
So Revali has this slight insecurity that compared to lightning, and magic healing, and magma, with chiefs and princesses and titles of heroes, he and his efforts will be overshadowed and forgotten, unfairly deemed the useless one. Thus, here he is, training in solitude, not wanting anyone to see the imperfections and mistakes until he is absolutely perfect.
Except for the fact that after you beat a Wizzrobe, the other three Champions show up.
Revali: Wh—Huh?? What are you all doing here?
Urbosa: Well, we all have to travel with the princess to that Tower in a few hours, so I recommended we find you and hang out until then
Mipha: And a good thing too! Look how many monsters there are
Revali: I’m actually doing very well on my own right now. Wouldn’t want you to catch a cold or something, so why don’t you head on back and let me handle this.
Daruk: Aw, it’s not that we think you can’t do this. It’s that you’re hogging all the fun! Urbosa: And that it would be more efficient if all of us went to work
Daruk: That too
Revali: Look it’s not—you all can’t just—this is not just about—AUGH, look, I’m just trying to train myself at the moment, and I don’t need you all to mess with my drills
Urbosa: Training, hm? Well how about this...you let us continue helping you with these monsters, and after, I’ll let you in on a good Gerudo training technique
Revali: Hmph. Fine, whatever gets you out of my tail feathers faster
Tumblr media
So Revali and the Champions clear out the monsters. Revali can have gambit attacks/dialogue with each of the other Champions. This is already incredibly long so perhaps I’ll save specifics for another time, feel free to use your imagination. Urbosa teasing Revali and they make a thunderstorm, Mipha and Revali swimming in the sky and kissing—wait that’s—
When all the monsters are cleared, which honestly isn’t tooooo many, Revali speaks again.
Revali: So what’s this oh-so-holy technique you had in mind, then?
Urbosa: Ah yes, well really it’s quite simple. It’s called…
Urbosa: One-on-one combat
Now Revali fights Urbosa. It think it’d be really fun if your allies on a stage could swap to a boss, and I wish hwaoc had a bit more freedom with the interactions as a whole, but ah well, that’s what I’m here for I guess.
So when you/Revali defeat her, it’s a good accomplishment! Not only for you the player, as Urbosa would not be the easiest to beat, but also because match-up wise, Revali prevailing over Urbosa is a big feat as their styles are quite opposite, arguably with the strength in favour for Urbosa.
Revali might at first have the mindset that Urbosa is overconfident and thinks she’s got an easy win on Revali, but that mindset is quickly proven wrong when 1) the difficulty of the gameplay itself shows how they’re both doing their best and 2) Urbosa with her Gerudo qualities is probably shouting stuff like “give it your all!” and things.
And so, as you beat her...
Revali, kinda huffing and puffing, but just a bit:: ...you….held back
Urbosa: Come now, do you really think of me as someone who’d do that? I’m almost insulted.
Revali: Hmm...perhaps not then....
Mipha: Wow! What a wonderful fight from both of you.
And then insert some other dialogue from Daruk or something that shows the Champions acknowledging the training and hard work Revali must have put in to be so skilled. Perhaps it’s not so bad, when you train with others and your skill is fully appreciated by your frie—GAH. Perish the thought, they’re all just a bunch of royal fools who can’t hold a candle to the skill of a Rito Master….probably…
Revali: Well unlike you lax fools, I tend to take my job seriously. I don’t have time to longue and banter when the princess is still expecting me in an hour or two
Urbosa: Oh alright, let’s get to it then. What’s the expression? “The early bird gets the w—”
Revali: Gross. No. Don’t finish that sentence, I beg you.
Urbosa: Oh? Well why don’t you fly off to escape my dreadful tones then?
Revali: ...Heh, don’t be absurd…
Revali: Without me, you’ll all probably get lost. So, I suppose I should stick around for that sake Great Fairies: Dress to Oppress
The Great Fairies are holding a fashion competition and rating people’s outfits. Poorly judged outfits gives them the right to compensation combat. Defeat all your less than fashionable allies.
...
...yeah.
It seemed funny in my head, alright? cOme on, just imagine…
Revali, fully expecting to win: Well?
Great Fairies: Hm...I don’t know dear, all the colors are very clustered. Perhaps if you were taller—?
Revali: bWHAKT!? *other angry bird noises*
- - -
Daruk: I brought my BEST out today! :D
Great Fairies: Is that a….chain?
Daruk: TWO chains, actually. :D
Great Fairies: Oh honey…
- - -
Great Fairies: Ooo! Our little hero is about to come out! Wonder what he chose...a knight in shining armour? A handsome desert voe? Ooo!! And those Snowquill braids always made him look so cute…
Link: *comes out in the Tingle Outfit*
Great Fairies: …
Great Fairies: …………..hm…..
At the end of the side quest, after you beat everyone, the Great Fairy wins because of course they do.
Great Fairies: Oh my! What an unexpected outcome...but it really couldn’t have gone any other way. I declare the judges the winner! I mean just look at me, I’m as dazzling as a jeweled desert flower, because I am! Ohohohoho…
This side quests unlocks the Tingle Outfit
Hestu: Forest Dance Festival
Alright this quest was already pretty perfect, BUT, I just want to use this opportunity to say that all of Hestu’s gambit attacks makes his allies and enemies do special dances. Absolutely abSURD that Hestu can only make the lesser smaller enemies dance on occasion, nonononono, my guy Hestu is making everyone dance. You can’t stop this. Nothing I say will ever top the imagination, so just take my word that this is a good thing. [Reluctant Revali doing the macarena against his will in sync with Hestu and they bash someone’s head in...ah the possibilities.]
Maz Koshia: Links to the Past
Ok so before I get into this, a few things. This quest takes place well after the tower activations in Akkala. Age of Calamity leaves a whole lot of plots holes as to why a Monk is just...here, and what the point of the shrines are, and personally my first reaction to all this was just a five minute extended “huuhhhhhh???”
So here is my headcanon, explanation, thing, canon to the world of the Kip Cut story. Ones all the Sheikah Towers were activated, that officially woke up all the Shrines, because we know that the Towers and Shrines are all connected to the same system. [See Great Plateau Tower activating all the Shrines and Towers, and Creating a Champion explanation on the system] But when all the monks were in their little altars and noticed how Link hadn’t dont a single one, they were like “what the fuck.” Monk Maz Koshia, who is kinda the head honcho of the monks and probably the only one powerful enough to go out in the world anyhow, sets out to see what the deal is, and after many a teleportation and telepathic communication, he figures out that Link is just running around with the Master Sword already. This kinda confuses him, because the whole point of the Shrines was to test Link and give him the spirit orbs so that he could grow strong enough to get the Master Sword, but he somehow already has it...so hmmmm something fishy is going on in this timeline. So Link technically hasn’t proven himself at all, Maz Koshia ambushes him, they do their little combat trial, Link passes, and Maz Koshia’s like “ok cool so you’re not useless.”
So now Monk Maz Koshia has cast aside his old monk duties of waiting around for a couple hundred years, in favour of just hanging out with Link and continuing to train him combat wise. Shrines are still explored by Zelda and co because they are important areas to establish teleportation pads, and whenever they’re there, Maz Koshia forces Link to get in a shrine to get a spirit orb, which is not only useful in general for health, but since Link already has the Master Sword, the other characters can get the spirit orb too. (So all those little heart upgrades that you see on the map, those are all just in the real Botw Shrine locations, rather than just scattered around randomly. Also I’m ignoring the stuff about talking to Hylia in order to exchange for stamina or heart containers because the game never talks about her, or stamina, and I’m not about to create an entirely new custom gameplay feature for this game, fuck you.)
I like to think that Maz Koshia is very selective about the Shrines he encourages people to try out. “Oh nonono, don’t bother with Qukah’s….lazy ass, only set up one little mountain that you have to blast through with lightning and that’s the entire puzzle! Disgraceful...Here, Kaam Ya’tak has set up a wonderful Trial of Power for you. I’m sure you’ll find the level design quite thrilling. They spent a lot of time on the critical thinking aspects so have fun!”
“I should warn you that this one was made by one of the millennials...yes, those youngins who were only initiated 1000 years of age. Honestly, they lack so much experience. Ms. Agana over here was experimenting with something called ‘motion controls?’ Pretty lazy if you ask me. Traditionally I would just stick to combat and block and switch stuff...but ah well, variety I suppose.”
Tumblr media
Right, what was I talking about? Oh right! This is a sidequest. So Monk Maz Koshia doesn’t really have...a character??? Or a personality??? So I don’t really know what to do with him other than use him as an outlet for world building. Apologies to the Monk….fuckers? Stans? Feel free to leave me a comment about how I missed all the nuances of his character or something I’m all ears.
On an expedition to mark more Shrines and establish more teleports for the Kingdom, a large horde of monsters is spotted, seemingly with the intention to destroy these Ancient relics. Link and Maz Koshia use this opportunity to sharpen their combat skills. Protect the stronghold and defeat key enemies.
And then that quest would just kinda echo the stuff I said earlier about the world. (As Maz Koshia defends a Shrine, somewhere Qukah Nata is smugly shouting “Bet you wish ALL of them were protected with a giant mountain now, do ya?)
Also Link and Maz Koshia’s gambit attack involves the Master Cycle. I don’t have the specifics, but damn if I want some call backs to Botw while also having fun.
Impa: Steal Yourself [Yiga Clan Escape]
In an act of pure hatred and malice, the Yiga Clan has snuck into Kakariko Village in the dead of night…and stolen all the Swift Carrots! Impa sets out to get them back, as well as taking something else as a form of swift revenge...Escape before the time runs out.
Ok I can explain.
So you know how the Yiga and the Sheikah have kiiiiinda been murdering each other a bunch in Botw, going as far as to kill a deserter’s wife and threatening to murder his kids, and also people on both sides were sorta massacred for no reason? And alsoooo one of those people who literally lived during that time of the massacre is just kinda floating around now?  And you knooooooooww how the Yiga Clan just kinda joins Zelda’s side later on and we’re not supposed to think about the implications of that too hard because they’re the funny banana ninjas, haha? Yeah well neither Age of Calamity or I really have time to explore the moral grey areas of an alliance between two warring factions, one of which has a leader who doesn’t really seem to remember the reason why they hate Hyrule which brings into question whether the lackeys even know their clan’s history, and brings about the moral dilemma of criminalizing the ignorant, and also there’s the whole other dilemma of depicting the side that submitted to their oppression as being “in the right” and the topic of a race of people being pitted against their own by a higher power is really brushed over sO WE’RE JUST GONNA TOSS ALL THAT OUT THE WINDOW AND MAKE THEM ACT LIKE RIVALLING HIGH SCHOOLS, OKAY? OKAY! This is fine this is fine—
So I have dubbed the High School mascot of the Sheikah, the Swift Carrot. And although there does seem to be some internal debate about whether the carrot should be replaced by the Fortified Pumpkin, the hero of Hyrule Link favours carrots so that’s that. Then of course, the mascot for the Yiga Clan is the Mighty Banana. The two sides hate each other and steal their food symbols to be petty. I’ll be covering the side quests of Kohga and the other later characters in another later post, but just know that Kohga will have his banana heist sidequest too.
Tumblr media
So anyhow, you play as Impa. Maybe she can say a piece of dialogue or two about how she has to uphold the image of her people as she has to lead them one day. And then, this side quest is just her retrieving the carrots and running off with the Yiga’s big banana supply before she’s caught. This is based on that “Escape the Yiga Clan” quest if you couldn’t tell.
Custom gambit defeat of Impa vs Kohga: On one hand I think it would be badass to see Impa’s Sheikah skills go up against the Yiga Clan tactics. Kohga summons a giant metal ball to throw, Impa teleports behind him “nothing personal, kid” nO fuck I’m doing it again away goes to swing a blade at his face. He blocks it with his little energy shield thing, but not before an entire conga line of Impa clones start slashing at him until he’s defeated by a giant explosion. So yeah, that’d be badass and cool. But on the other hand…
Kohga, stomping his feet and having a fit: I cARROT believe you would do something this terrible! Give us back those bananas right now! D: ….please? You can keep the gross orange sticks.
Sooga: He asked nicely. You wouldn’t deny the wishes of the most polite and charming Yiga Chief there is, would you?
Impa: No can do, Yiga scum! I’m afraid this cruel action wasn’t veggie nice of you so I must exact justice! Now it’s my time to split. *Impa clones gather and throw Kohga into a giant frog’s mouth. Impa runs off with a sack of fruit [fruit (derogatory) if you will] cackling into the horizon*
Zelda: The Path She Laid For You
The King has order Zelda to head to the Temple of Time, in order to see if anything there could help awaken her powers. Zelda sets off quietly, with minimal company, as not to attract too much attention lest the Town’s folk be hit with another attack. It seems, however, that these precautions won’t be enough...Defeat key enemies
So this is a pure Zelda sidequest, with no other characters except for eggbot because I said so. Starts out normal when SURPRISE! Bunch of monsters appear and Zelda has to whip out her iphone and fight them.
Also!! Good time for the Hollows to show up, and you know, tell her what a failure she is and all that. Convince her that she's useless and gonna doom everyone. All that good stuff!! It’s just nice to catch up with the villains and see how they’re doing, you know? ‘Sup Hollow Urbosa, last I saw you were barely spitting words in the Lost Woods, and now you’re giving full hard-hitting insults to Zelda’s character and ability? Good for you, Queen, good for you.
So Zelda and a handful of guards are fighting off monsters, and Zelda has to beat the Hollows too. Her gambit dialogue when she defeats Hollows can be stuff like “You’re not the real ___” or something idk, I don’t have a lot of experience with the evil clone trope, I’ve never played Ocarina of Time. But one specific I DO want to highlight is that Zelda uses the nearby Sheikah Tech to defeat the enemies. I find it a bit weird how Zelda just knows how to use those random water canons in the Faron region in later chapters, so we’re just gonna at least set up a pattern so that it makes a bit more sense later. Plus! This is in front of the Great Plateau, AKA Gate Post Town/Garrisons AKA oh lOOK it’s that area where Link and Impa and eggbot first meet in that Impa introduction scene of my rewrite so we have already established that Sheikah Technology is being stored here and ready to use! Continuity in world building! Nice.
So Zelda uses her knowledge of Sheikah Tech to defeat the Hollows, when...dun dun dun! Astor appears. But you don’t fight him...
Astor: Have you listened to one word spoken to you today? Why are you still resisting? Let me help you.
Zelda: And what exactly is your plan? You wish to kill me, then?
Astor: Not quite. I mean, if you do die, there are ways I can manage, so if some stray Yiga blade happens to strike you I’m not completely doomed.
Astor: But no, the most optimal outcome for everyone is the one where you live yet. You must see the truth as I do, and let me fix this. I can undo this terrible knot destiny has thread for you. [and insert other fate sisters and sewing metaphors here]
Zelda: But how? What’s your game here, if you’re truly claiming to be in everyone’s best interest then why all this secrecy?
Astor: Ah...ever the one to look for the facts and logic, hmm? Can’t blame you, you get it straight from your mother.
Zelda: …!
Astor: But...I’m afraid even if I did tell you now, you’re in no state to truly grasp it. No...the only way this works is for you to truly understand the position you're in, and the stakes that hang in the path before you.
Astor: And if I have to kill every King, Champion, or knight to get you to understand…
Astor: Then so be it.
[dun dun dun]
Zelda: No! I won’t let you hurt anyone, I swear it!
Eggbot [just pretend eggbot can have dialogue boxes too]: *chirps*
Astor, suddenly noticing eggbot: ...You…you’re one thing I still don’t—
Eggbot chirps again beside Zelda, both seeming to be angry at Astor’s words. Eggbot releases a glowing flash of light. Kinda like a...flash bang? [is that the right word idk]
Astor: Ah—! *and he teleports away to escape* Astor: Until next time then...Princess
And that’s pretty much the sidequest. Zelda can question what exactly eggbot did, but he’s not exactly the most verbal in responses. Finally it ends with Zelda going home, “He was still right though...I’m still sitting in failure, with not a hint of my powers awakening. All I have is some Sheikah tech, some exhausted shoulders….and well, you, I suppose, little one.”
“Come, it’d be a waste to continue forth in this condition. Let’s go back to the castle.”
Eggbot: *happy whistles and chirps*
= = = = =
Tune in next time folks, as we dive back into the main event! Needless to say, Chapter 4 is where the shit starts to go down...

Febuwhump Day 22
Prompt: Burned
Rating: G
Words: 1052
Fandom: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Burning
I cataloged every look that came my way and filed it for contemplation. So little was given away from day to day that the small snatches were all I had to determine his thoughts, his dislikes, his personality. I've been a scientist for as long as I can remember and I believed that I was observant, but I was woefully unprepared for a challenge of this magnitude. Until now, everything I studied seemed to want to be studied. When I discovered something new it was obvious: a snap before a crack appears, a slow fading to a new color, a series of beeps when a guardian comes online. Link did not wish to be studied. When I discovered something new he did all he could to hide that anything happened at all. I stepped on his foot once and he didn't flinch or stumble or anything. He simply stepped to the side out of my way and waited for me to give him orders without a flicker of emotion or feeling.
So I watched and waited for him to slip up. He knew I watched him of course. I couldn't keep anything from him if I tried and I needed to make a thorough enough study to learn anything about him. He did his best to keep himself from me and I did my best to subvert his wish. The first expression I learned was the easiest to coax out of Link. His jaw would tighten and his eyes would scrunch ever so slightly. I was not good at eliciting this reaction, but Link was susceptible to anger when nearly anyone else accosted him.
When we were in the castle his anger would follow him like a storm. If I spoke to the High Priest it would palpitate around his edges and while in conference with my father he would tamp it down to the smallest simmer.  He would try to cover his disgust with the ladies that followed him while he followed me about the castle.
It was easier to recognize when he wasn't trying to cover it up. When I was accosted in a marketplace by well-meaning citizens he could frost the earth. His face was chiseled from marble when he felt people were taking liberties with my time and my safety. An aura of danger extended from his very bones to encircle me in a safety net of his protection. Shop keepers would fall over themselves to offer me their wares then slip away with one glance at my stoic protector. Crowds would part in deference to the crown then scatter.
Happiness was as easy to identify as anger for all that he was so rarely happy.
When he was angry every fiber of his being was tense, when he was happy it all released and he looked innocent as a child. His face opened and tilted to the sun, his movements were languid. He was so rarely relaxed that I only saw this while I spied upon him interacting with soldiers in the mess. He wasn't boisterous or talkative, but he certainly seemed to have friends. He sat atop one of the long wooden tables with a cup of something while one of his friends gesticulated wildly. Link didn't laugh, but his shoulders loosed and he slouched where he sat.
He was happy in the practice yard as well. I frequently stood on the ramparts overlooking the soldiers at work and looked for my knight in the crowd of bodies. He was tricky to find since he was so short, but if you looked long enough for his unusual golden hair he would appear. He usually worked on his swordplay and sparred against opponents twice his size, but when his head tipped towards the sky and his shoulders relaxed he would always head to the archery range and pick up a bow.
It wasn't until after we were on better terms that I discovered the next crack in his expressionless armor. I often mistook it for anger and it wasn't until he refuted it that I began to look closer and see something different.
We stood together as a team and his face tightened. A near grinding sound could be heard when he clenched his jaw into a square as crowds cheered for us. But the aura of danger did not cloud around me. The absence was staggering and it took me ages to realize that it was too much for him to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Princess of Hyrule and be the Chosen Knight to the people. He was afraid, he was overwhelmed, he was shy.
Once I saw it, I couldn't stop seeing it. Everything overwhelmed the poor man. He was terrified of women generally and Impa especially. He was uncomfortable in crowds and didn't like to be indoors. He was fine with the champions for a while but didn't like to be alone with Mipha, and eventually, something happened and he started hiding from Urbosa as well. The only time he seemed to be genuinely comfortable was outside in the wilds.
It was out in those wilds that I saw his last expression. We were taking a day to relax between all our travels and Link had let down his guard enough to run about a field with her. We caught a frog but it got away so I rolled down a hill trying to catch it and dragged Link along with me. We tumbled together down the small hill and I laughed and laughed at our clumsiness. The frog at last got away from my reaching hand and lept out of sight entirely so I turned back to Link to exclaim my disappointment but I was caught at the last moment by the raw look on his face. A cloud covered the sun in the sky.
His gaze burned through me and the air steamed around us in the suddenly dim light. Everything about him was warm. His face wasn't the slack joy I expected, instead, it was as hard and dark as his anger. Instead of ice, there was fire and I couldn't breathe. We held our respective breaths until the cloud passed and his expression cleared with the sky.
The burns on my skin from his gaze would never heal.

-“On the contrary. Knowing Hyrule, and meeting you... has only increased my longing to concrete a possible alliance between our kingdom” he answered properly and continued speaking
-“I have to confess that an arranged marriage would sound correct for our parents or grandparents” pausing, Marth looked at his sword with some melancholy, then he followed
-“I believe a lot of situations have influence on this now, and I didn’t conceived in my mind the idea of not paying Hyrule a visit, at least once, I deeply apologize if this has offended you in any way” he said making a small bow, custom of royalty when apologizing.
In fact, it was not a tradition between royalty to pay pre- marriage visits. The sole idea or proposition of it was seen unnecesary and scandalous, as it was a pact between kings, when they were both Children.
-“ You are welcome to stay, Prince Marth. I understand your position, more than anyone, I’m sorry to be unable to guide you around the kingdom... and I’m afraid you can not expect much from me, than this unfortunate welcome”she answered coldly, realizing the Prince had no intention to break the engagement.
-“Do not worry, we are pleased to be welcome to Hyrule, huh Roy? Whilst my father is who I think won’t be happy with my actions” the young man said while tousling Roy’s red hair
Zelda’s first impression of the Prince was of an honest person, at least he disagrees on arranged marriage just like herself, to the point of travelling several days just to meet the bride he was being imposed, but it was difficult for her to open up to a stranger so easily.
That night she could not manage to sleep. After rolling several times on her bed, she decided to take a stroll to her favourite garden, still preserved at the east wing. The garden where she cried that time in front of Link.
She dressed up and walked slowly with a candle on her hand, some guards about to nap were surprised of her presence and straighten out inmediately.
After walking around some flowers, she saw a shadow coming near the garden, jumping trough the pillars to her right.
-“Guards?” She asked, taking two steps back.
When she didn’t get an answer, she was about to hurry back to the alley, but the moon lit the face of the person she most longed to see.
-“Princess, shouldn’t you be resting?”
-“Link!” She called his name relieved, pinching her own finger to prove it was not another dream, she ran near him, until she realized something. He was not wearing his usual knight garments neither a Hylian tunic, he was wearing...
-“I see you have... a new armor... Zora armor...”
Link, who had not taken rest on his road back after going all the way to Zora’s land, realized he didn’t even showered, or taken off more than the helmet Mipha gave to him, but he wasn’t precisely expecting an audience with the princess that night, simply his feet had taken him to that part of the castle, and as late it was he didn’t expect to find anyone awake.
-“Yes... it’s a gift” he answered, taking a step away from the princess to save her from the smell he must have had riding under the sun in sweat.
-“From Lady Mipha?” She inquired, in her heart something was not right. She asked but She didn’t want to know the answer. She did not want to listen... and why did Link stepped away from her?
-“Yes... “ he said, tiredness reflected on his eyes, suddenly Zelda turned her back to him.
-“Congratulations... Link... I shall retire... I shouldn’t be here at this hour...”
Perplexed as he was, without time to answer, he saw Zelda run towards her chambers, guided by the candle she was holding which she left on the window, running in the dark. She could hear her name being called by her once appointed Knight.
-“Zelda! Zelda! Wait!...” He called triying to follow, but at such time, following the princess to her room could be easily misunderstood, even if they had spent several nights on the fields outside the castle, the actual situation could be confusing to the royal guards.
Once in her room, triforce resonated in her mind, the back of her hand was shining lightly and faded away, the triangle was blurry but still there.
She knew what the armor meant, on her several visits to the Zora’s kingdom she was even invited in one ocassion to a Zora wedding, and Mipha herself explained that the armor has to be handmade by the bride to her groom. Zelda even asked if Mipha had already began making her own, and she just began fidgeting nervously watching Link from afar playing with some Zora children.
Seeing Link on his armor could only mean that he had accepted Mipha’s feelings, and he was planning to marry her. After all he had a good relationship with King Dorphan, and as absurd it may sound, she was sure he would consent the wedding of her daughter with a hylian.
-“The most important is for him to be happy” she told to herself, holding her own hand to her chest, conscious she shouldn’t cry, she cleaned her silent tears, and remembered Link’s words
-“I’ll allways protect you”
-“I’m a fool” she affirmed, smiling and containing more tears. After all, her purpose was to let all her people have a normal life, live among their loved ones.
In the morning, she sent her personal Sheikah messenger to find the foreigners. She had her mind set.
The council meeting was about to start, Link was already clean and fresh, he wore his usual hylian royal guard’s tunic. He had to find her, talk to her for once, he didn’t know why she ran last night, but he saw pain reflected in her eyes. “Maybe the armor made her believe he was engaged with Mipha? Nah... just the thought of something so visceral to produce... jealousy? That was something daring to even imagine, yet she congratulated him on something...”
He saw her walking to the auditorium followed by Impa as always, but she was being escorted to her side by a young man with blue hair, tall and white skin, finely dressed on foreign garments, a cape with a ruby brooch and blue shoulder plates, combined with jewellery on his forehead, was it a tiara?...
Behind them, trying to talk lively with Impa was other man, with the same small ears and a red rebellious hair, equally dressed in blue armor and some band around his forehead.
Link walked towards them, trying to reach her before she entered the great hall, but it seemed as if she speeed up when she saw him, so he ran a bit to the entrance.
-“Princess! Princess Zelda! He called. There was no way she missed the call, as the company turned to face him. She stopped and faced him too.
-“Oh!... Prince Marth, allow me to introduce you to our Chief commander of Hyrule’s army, Link”
Link stopped for a moment, surprised for so much ceremony.
-“Link, this is Marth Lowell, prince of Altea, my... fiancé” she said without looking into his blue eyes, almost without hesitation, with composure.
-“Fian..” he babbled before realizing he was being expected to bow respectfully, which he did, taking a hand to his chest as a martial salute. Marth extended his open hand to him, looking at him sideways.
-“I understand you handle the sword that repels evil, if I remember correctly is the master sword, I would be honored to watch it in all it’s splendour, maese Link” he said with a peculiar accent, to which he just answered with a nod. The group followed ahead, to the meeting, leaving Link agazed.
On the great hall, Zelda introduced the foreigners, which was a surprise to the council, but most agreed on welcoming the prince and taking him on a tour, after all, they seemed on him the future King of Hyrule and Altea. It would be a novelty for Zelda, after six weeks of the catastrophe, she had accepted a prospect of marriage with the neighbouring kingdom, and besides he was a young and handsome Prince, as referred by some ladies of the court.
Link felt ill. All morning he had a bit of a nauseous feeling which even prevented him from taking breakfast. It seemed as if he had found her. He would have to tell Mipha.
His heart pounded just thinking about Zelda, but he realized this too late.
It was curious watching someone separating her from him, like a bucket of cold water., ice that woke him to realize his feelings for her, the same feelings which had been there implicit on the way he found out himself watching her while she was asleep in the field, on the way he cared for her without considering it part of a job, he came to love her, of that he was sure now. He wanted to protect her and be by her side, hold her and tell her he wouldn’t go.
-“What can he offer anyway?” He whispered to himself, clenching his fist, looking at the aforementioned prince, without realizing that the ex commander was sitting right at his side since who knows when.
-“A kingdom, perhaps...” he said, while he arranged his moustache with his hand inquiring.
-“Commander Van... I didn’t realized you had arrived...” He said ashamed of his whispering, turning to face him.
-“Ex commander, if you may allow me to correct you, commander Link”
The young hylian smiled, watching the royal couple talking vividly far from him, during the recess of the reunion.
-“They make such a good couple, don’t they?” The old commander asked, just to watch Link’s reaction, without meaning any of it.
-“If you say so...” Link sighed.
-“Boy, my best advice for you is that there is no difference between a wise man and a fool when they fall in love... you’ll find someone eventually, having such face! Are you sure you don’t want me to introduce you to my daughters?” He laughed.
A week after, the princess seemed to avoid him, and a small engagement party was celebrated with a dinner in the big dining room of the castle. Several carriages with wine and goodies from Altea came along with a message from the King. The wine was being served in all tables, and Link couldn’t stand it anymore, so he left early before the toast.
-“It seems that my uncle the King is not that angry with you” Roy states, serving some wine and taking some meat.
-“That is because the Princess accepted the engagement, I can not think what would have happened if this had complicated” he answered on a serious tone.
“I really don’t know what wowwies you” Roy said chewing with full mouth, “Is not that you wanted to marry anyway” he drank cheerfully wine from his goblet.
-“You wouldn’t understand it even if I spelled it for you, the princess is all but what I imagined, I would like just to get to know her a little” Marth affirmed, watching her go out into the near balcony.
-“Just admit it, you like her, and we’ll leave it there” Roy said, taking another piece of deer from a tray.
Marth almost spits his wine -“Sometimes your imprudence is as big as your mouth” he said standing and following Zelda to the balcony, thanking everyone were distracted on their own business and not paying attention to what they talked.
Zelda turned, watching the prince enter the balcony’s garden.
-“Is that wine from Altea?” She asked, pointing at the golden goblet he had on his hand.
-“Yes it is, it’s a combination of two grapes which grow in our fields, ages for eighteen months in oak barrels, but I’ll assume you already know, as you have proven your knowledge in botanics” he answered with a smile.
To his surprise, Zelda boldly took the goblet from his hand, and drank it on two sips, her cheeks were already red due to alcohol effects.
-“I... don’t know much of Altea, your Highness” she said, tumbling a little.
“-It’s better for you to sit” he said worried, taking her hand suddenly, helping her to sit on the window box, sitting next to her.
-“You Prince Marth!... must be such ... a heart breaker... mustn’t you?” She said with her eyes closed, putting her head on his shoulder, to wich he stood still, watching her closely.
-“You don’t have.. hic!... the right to break them, because they suffer, and cry!!! “ she said while standing tall suddenly with a hand in the air. He just kept holding her so she wouldn’t lose stability and fall, when sitting back.
-“Princess, the alcohol might have you a bit gutted, I think I should escort you to your private chambers to get some kip, maybe? Tomorrow I shall answer all your questions of course...” He said a bit worried, he had never being in that situation, and he wouldn’t know if It was a funny situation or something to be worried about, it was obvious that the blond princess had taken a bit more of wine, a thousand times he cared for Roy on that state, but her fiancé drunk was something he didn’t imagined he would be seeing someday.
-“Tomorrow! Not tomorrow! I don’t want you to marry her!” She said pulling his brooch to herself, they were so close to each other and that made him nervous, Zelda’s hand touched his cheek, her blushing face with eyes half open were getting closer and closer to his face, Marth admited that her eyes were deep enough to lose himself, and by some reason he didn’t wanted that momento to end, but he also could not take advantage of her state, so about to put a hand on her shoulder to stop her, the princess threw up, ruining Marth’s clothes, he stood up taking her hair so she wouldn’t stain her own, as she kept going on and on in the near garden.
Soon Impa was near them from the entrance.
-“My goodness! I owe you an apology your highness! I’ll take care of her now” She said alarmed, looking at her and at his clothes.
Marth took off his cape and wrapped it around her, she sat in the garden box, about to lay down to sleep, he took her in his arms softly.
-“Please, allow me to carry the princess” he gallantly said to Impa
They took the side stair so the other guests wouldn’t realize, walking silently to her room.
-“This is a very difficult time for her. As a personal favour I have a simple request, please do not pretend to hurt young Zelda, as she has her reasons to continue with the engagement, you may know she did not agree on it from a beginning, same as you I presume” she said calmly, worried only for the princess well being.
-“I know, I’m not pretending to deceive her, I confess I didn’t considered the marriage to be rather droll, but there is something about her that made me stay, her message took me by surprise sealing the arrangement. Now I have given my word and I won’t fail her, I’ll take care of her from now on”
The prince’s words resonated in the empty halls of the castle. Maybe he realized Impa’s relationship with Zelda was more of a mother than any other.
-Thank you, I’ll be here watching her always too. And by the way, there are extra clothes in your rooms” Impa stated, reaching her room, she carried her so she could take her into her bed. Marth insisted she should have his cape.
-“I don’t want you to marry her” Those words, what would Zelda mean by that, did she speak of herself in third person? Or someone else? He was meditating, into his memories an intrusive image of Zelda’s lips came into his mind.
“I must be going nutter” he said to himself
“That I knew since I was born” he heard the familiar voice of his cousin, behind him.
“I think for once you are completely right” he told Roy
“For a change” the red head laughed.
“I think I like her”
They both walked to the room they shared in the castle, not before Roy gave him slaps on his back, asking what was wrong with the smell on his clothes.
Next morning, the princess had an elixir, prepared by Impa, which alleviated the headache she had, without any memory of how did she came to her room, if it weren’t for the blue cape on her bed with the ruby brooch.
Once she went to the morning meeting, she found a big crowd among a messenger from the Gerudo tribe.
-“What is the meaning of this?” She asked, the crowd separated and the messenger could speak clearly in front of the princess.
-“Your majesty, Urbosa sent me, she humbly requests your presence along Link’s, is an urgent matter, it seems there is an unusual situation on the east area, several of our tribe members are missing, and it might be a manifestation of the evilness again”
Her words raised murmur again.
-“Silence, please. If it comes from Urbosa, I’m sure it is something relevant, and it requires our presence, we are not sure it is related directly to Ganon, but I think I can leave you to take care of central Hyrule matters”
-“You’r majesty, if I might say so, It is for greater benefit for you to have Prince Marth accompany you on this instance” a member of the council named Vaati suggested, the opinion was supported by other members, who said that if it he was going to be the next king, he should take record of the enemies of the kingdom, and that was seen as an opportunity to admire Falchion’s power, so even Zelda had to agree.
To be continued...

New Hyrule Warriors Characters I’d Love to See
So for stress relief lately, I’ve been going back to Hyrule Warriors Definitive, unlocking all the weapons and working on finishing the adventure maps.  So of course, this put it in my head to think of other characters I’d like to see if a theoretical HW2 happened, like, keep the cast and add on to it as most Warriors games tend to do.  So here are some I’d love to see.
Groose
C’mon, he needs to be in.  Myself, I’ve never played Skyward Sword (rumors of it getting a Switch port make me hopeful), so I don’t know TOO much about him other than his hair’s amazing.  Kit suggested he have a portable Groosinator for his weapon, a cannon he carries under his arm, and for sweeping attacks could swing it outward by its fuse.
Dampe
He’s been in a few games now, and there’s a fitting common LoZ item he could use for his weapon that hasn’t been referenced at all in HW : the Shovel.  Obviously he could swing it around, swipe it through the air for attacks, but over on my Twitter, it was suggested we could reference his “gravekeeper” job by having him dig up undead type enemies for support, like Stalfos, Poes, and Redeads.
Mipha
One has to figure a HW2 would add some BotW content, and for starters, I’d love to see the four champions.  I mean, hey, HW is all about time and dimension bending shenanigans, so I’m sure we can excuse having them around and alive.  I could see Mipha actually having more of a “support” type special attack.  They’ve done things like this in Dynasty Warriors before.  Like, she’d have a spear based moveset for her weapon based on her trident (BUT GANONDORF ALREADY HAS A TRIDENT, eh, some warriors have similar weapons with different movesets, so I think we can get away with it).  But I could see her special attack doing some damage, but also healing allies around herself.
Revali
Yep, continuing on.  Thing is, while the Bow is an item, and does show up in a few other movesets here and there (Zelda’s special attack, part of Ravio’s combos), we don’t have anyone that SPECIALIZES in just using a bow, so he could fill that niche nicely.  I’m sure there’s some way to work his Revali’s Gale power into the moveset, likely his special.
Daruk
The trick would be making him different enough from Darunia, but he does have a totally different weapon in that sort of “club sword” he carries, forget exactly what it was named in game.  He too could probably use his power in a support way, granting a defense buff to allies in the area where he uses it.
Urbosa
I could see her having a nice, fluid attack string with her scimitar, elegant and dance-like.  Naturally her special would have her snap her fingers and call down lightning.
Kass
.......What?  Warriors games are no stranger to silly “joke” characters, and honestly I love the idea of running across the battlefield as a large bird and clobbering enemies with an accordion.
Beedle
He’s been in enough of the games to where I feel like he deserves to get in.  I’m admittedly not quite sure what he’d do though.  I mean, we have Ravio, showing the idea of a fighting merchant can work, but Beedle’s stock doesn’t really have much in the way of weapons or such, does it?
Linebeck
I honestly thought we were going to get him in the Phantom Hourglass / Spirit Tracks DLC pack.  He just seems like someone who should be there, you know?  I’d guess his weapon would be his spyglass, though as to how it would work, I’m at a loss there.
Shad
The Resistance from Twilight Princess struck me as having some interesting characters, and Shad was my personal favorite.  He does have that book with a dagger in it, I could see him using the book to put buffs on himself for his dagger attacks or something.
Ashei
I also really liked Ashei’s style, again we have the “similar weapons” deal, but her focused nature I think could lend itself to a different form of rapier fighting.
Vaati
Obviously we could also use more villains, and I feel like Vaati’s probably a major enough one to get a nod.  Admittedly I haven’t played many of the games where he featured, so I don’t remember that much about him, but he’s just one of those that feels like he should be there.
Twinrova
One of the rare instances where there’s a boss that’s probably humanoid enough to work as a warrior, I could see her having fire and ice attacks as different charges in her attack string.
The Lady
Because hey, the villain side could use a joke character too.  I feel like The Lady from Tri Force Heroes would fit the bill here, rapid jabs with her closed parasol, lines mocking the lack of style of her opponents, possibly even moves referencing the powers of some of the costumes from the game.
Also, two new weapons I’d like to see for existing characters :
Sheikah Slate for Sheik
One could make the case that it would be more fitting for Link or Zelda to use it, but, eh. they already both have multiple weapons.  Sheik just has her harp.  And I mean, technically Sheik IS Zelda, sooooo....  I think it would be fun for her to have attack strings casting runes from the slate, using Magnesis to pull out metal cubes and sweep them around for attacks, Stasis for her special, Bombs of course, I feel like there’s a lot they could do with it.
Four Sword for Toon Link
Really I just like the idea of controlling a mob of four Toon Links running around in different formations.  Perhaps a neutral charge would change their formation a bit.  Either that or the clones would just jump in during parts of attack strings or something.

Shadows of Hyrule | Chapter 14
Friday couldn't come soon enough. Though Impa had graciously given him some days off from his training, he was still sore, and the rest of the week still seemed to drag on endlessly. To his relief, however, his father made his cheerful return early Friday evening, bringing a fresh, hot pizza through the door with him. His eyes were a little less sunken, his complexion brighter, and he scooped Aryll into his arms when she ran to him. He regarded Link briefly before opening the pizza box.
“Better than peanut butter and banana sandwiches,” he said as he took a slice.
Link shrugged. “You don't know what you're missing.”
“I have news for ya, kid,” his father said between bites of pizza. “You can't live off of sandwiches and cereal.”
“Look who's talking.” Link ripped off his own slice, ignoring his father's glare.
“Watch it,” his father muttered. “I'll ground you.”
Link snorted. “From what? Hero work? You'd be doing me a favor.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Do you know what Impa does to me?”
“I'd rather not know.”
“She beats me with a stick.”
His father frowned. “I didn't know that was an option.”
“Ha. Ha.”
“Who's Impa?” Aryll asked as she finished a slice of pizza.
“A crazy old lady,” Link said. “She hates me.”
Aryll smiled. “Why?”
“Because I'm a lazy, good for nothing disappointment and Hylia should be ashamed of herself.”
His father laughed. “If that ain't the truth.”
“You know, I'm real tired of everyone being mean,” Link hissed.
“Oh, I'm sorry, did the truth hurt your feelings?” He grabbed another slice of pizza. “Hylia knows you could use a little discipline.”
“Well, that's your fault.”
“In my defense, you were a better kid up until you reached high school.”
“Well, someone had to raise Ary.”
“Touché.”
Aryll frowned. “Are you guys fighting?”
Her father smiled down at her. “Never.”
But she was not convinced. “Do you still love each other?”
Her father frowned. “Do I have to?”
Aryll's brows knit together. “Yes!”
He nodded. “Oh. Okay.” When Link snorted, he grabbed another slice of pizza and pressed it against his son's face.
“Real mature!”
His father and sister laughed together as he wiped at his face with a napkin, muttering to himself. When he was finished, he grabbed another slice of pizza. He stuck his tongue out at them, then shoved the slice into his mouth. Without another word, he left them alone in the kitchen to giggle to themselves. He finished his pizza as he made his way toward his bedroom where he collapsed onto his bed with a sigh.
*****
Aryll had him up early the next morning. He only complained a little as she pulled at his arm and threw the blankets off of him. He groaned before he pushed himself up, and Aryll threw a shirt at him.
“Come on!” she said, digging through the pile of clothes in the corner of his room. “We're going to the park, remember? You promised!”
“Actually,” Link started. “Mipha promised.”
“Come on, Link! We're all going!”
He sighed. “Alright, alright. Let me get dressed.”
She jumped up happily before skipping out of his room. He sat on his bed for a moment further, yawning and rubbing at his eyes before working up the energy to get dressed. When he made his way downstairs, Aryll was waiting impatiently by the door, spinning in circles and laughing when her dress spun out around her.
Aryll skipped by his side as they made their way outside. It didn't take long before they found Mipha, and Aryll skipped energetically to her.
“See? I told ya I could get him up!”
Mipha crossed her arms and grinned. “I'm surprised.” Aryll skipped ahead once more, leading them deeper into the city, and Mipha yawned.
“Looks like I'm not the only one who stayed up late,” Link said.
Mipha groaned. “I was up all night studying for that stupid test.”
Link laughed. “That's your problem.”
“Some of us want to go to college,” she sneered at him.
“At least I don't study myself to death,” he said. “I live my life.”
“I hate you,” Mipha muttered.
Link grinned and put his arm around her. “No, you don't.”
Mipha blushed and turned her face away from him.
“Come on,” he said, pulling at her arm and leading her into a nearby coffee shop. “I can't deal with grumpy Mipha.”
Mipha inhaled deeply as they stepped inside. The air was cool compared to the warm spring outside. “Coffee,” she said. “Wonderful, perfect, blessed coffee.”
Aryll skipped to the counter and stood on her tiptoes, her hands on the edge. “I want coffee!”
Link pushed her aside. “You're crazy enough.”
“Coffee makes you crazy?”
“Coffee is medicine,” Mipha said. “It helps me tolerate your brother.”
“Is that why Daddy drinks so much coffee?”
Mipha laughed.
The girl behind the counter smiled at Link. She leaned on her arm against the counter. “What'll it be?”
Mipha frowned. “Coffee,” she said. “Please.”
The girl looked Mipha over and frowned. “Just coffee? Hot? Iced? How do you want it?”
“I want it in a cup,” Mipha said. “So I can drink it.”
“Iced,” Link said. “She like's crappachinos.”
The girl giggled and grabbed a cup from a stack. “Flavor?”
“Caramel,” Link said.
“Caramel,” Mipha muttered.
Mipha met his gaze, then quickly looked away, smiling sheepishly. He knew her too well. The girl disappeared around the corner as she set to work making the drink.
“Stop being grumpy,” Link said as they waited.
“Stop flirting with coffee shop girls.”
“I wasn't.”
“She was.”
Link blinked at her. “She was?”
“Yeah, Link,” Aryll said, her hands on her hips. “You're not that funny.”
“Shut up,” Link said. “You don't know what flirting is.”
Aryll rolled her eyes. “Dad says when boys make fun of me it's 'cuz they like me and they're flirting.”
“What boys make fun of you?”
The coffee girl slid the drink across the counter. “Anything else?” She smiled down at Aryll. “A donut for your sister?”
Aryll batted her eyelashes at her brother. “Chocolate.”
Link sighed. “Fine.”
Mipha took her drink quickly and sighed happily as she took a sip. She turned to make her way outside. “Thanks for the coffee,” she said to Link, leaving him standing alone at the counter.
“Jerk,” he muttered. “You saw that,” he said to Aryll. “She owes me.”
Aryll bit happily into her donut. “I saw nuffin'.”
“You're girlfriend is pretty demanding,” the girl said as she took Link's money.
Link laughed sharply. “Yeah, right.”
“Don't say that,” Aryll said to the girl. “Mipha will get mad.”
“Why will she get mad?” Link asked.
Aryll giggled and shrugged. “'Cuz,” she said cryptically. She followed Mipha outside, Link on her heels.
“Are you done flirting?” Mipha asked when they got outside.
Link pushed her gently and took her drink from her. He took a sip, then made a face, shoving it into her chest.
“I spit in it,” Mipha said.
“Sure,” he said. “Drink it and stop being grumpy.”
Mipha sighed and returned to sipping at her drink. They continued walking through the bustling city, lively with people enjoying the warm spring day. She sipped loudly until the cup was empty.
“Better?” Aryll asked, grinning up at her.
Mipha shrugged. “I'll need another dose later,” she said. “Your brother is extra annoying today.”
“Yeah,” Aryll said apologetically. “He gets like that sometimes.”
“Where we going?” Link asked, ignoring their banter.
“To the park!” Aryll said. “Remember?”
“Oh, yeah.” Link looked around absentmindedly until Aryll tugged at his arm.
“Look!” She pointed ahead. “It's the princess!”
Link followed her gaze up the sidewalk. Zelda was walking briskly towards them, her nose in her phone. She looked up briefly and noticed them.
“Oh, hey,” she said unenthusiastically to Link, but offered Aryll and Mipha a smile. “Hi.”
Mipha offered Zelda a small smile, but avoided her gaze.
“You know the princess?” Aryll said to Link in awe.
Link shrugged. “She's annoying.”
Zelda crossed her arms. “You're annoying.”
Link smirked. “Good comeback.”
“Link,” Aryll hissed to him. “You have to be nice to her!”
“He is rude, isn't he?” Zelda said to Aryll. “What's your name?”
Aryll blushed and smiled. “Aryll,” she said.
“Well, Aryll, it's nice to meet you.” She bent down and offered her hand to the young girl. Aryll shook it and giggled.
“What are you guys up to?” Zelda asked, standing.
“We're going to the park!” Aryll said excitedly.
“Yup,” Link said, taking Aryll's hand. “Let's go.”
“You should come with us,” Aryll said to Zelda. “You're Link's friend, right?”
“I'm sure she has better things to do,” Link said.
“Like what?”
Zelda hesitated. “Well,” she started, “actually, I'm just studying this weekend.”
“Link doesn't know what studying is,” Mipha said.
“I'm not surprised,” Zelda said with a grin. She turned to Aryll. “Maybe next time. Promise.”
This seemed to satisfy Aryll. She waved to the princess and skipped ahead, pulling Link with her, anxiously heading to the park. Still avoiding Zelda's gaze, she muttered a quick goodbye before hurrying to catch up with Aryll and Link.

Desert Sun, Chapter 3
What?
Zelda’s hand hesitated above the note briefly before finally picking it up. She glanced warily around her room for a moment, but saw no sign of any intrusion or anything else out of place. Her mind was racing. One month- until what? Ganon’s return? He didn’t seem like the sort to leave any warnings. Was it just another empty threat from the Yiga clan?
She had no idea, and knew that the more she thought of it the less she’d be sure one way or another, so she left back downstairs, note in hand. If she woke Urbosa, she knew the Chieftain would worry too much, so she headed silently down the front steps instead, holding her night robes close as the cold desert air bit at her skin.
As expected, Captain Torae was standing at the base of the stairs, and looked shocked to see Zelda approaching.
“Princess, you-”
“Ssh - please,” Zelda urged, “I just wanted you to know. Someone left a note on my pillow. I was gone all day, so it could have happened anytime. I don’t want Urbosa to worry about it now,” she added quickly, seeing the dismay flash in Captain Torae’s eyes. “There’s no use both of us staying up all night. I’m going to go over some of the plans in the camp out front.”
“I’ll send extra guards to the front then, Princess.”
“Just one,” Zelda replied, shaking her head. “So it’s not obvious to anyone watching. I’ll be fine,” she reaffirmed, smiling to the guard before walking through the silent town towards the front gates. The tent had a few lanterns lit within, and she felt quite cozy and safe once she was inside it, despite the note.
Zelda didn’t remember falling asleep; she woke with her cheek resting against her arms, bent over the table and desert maps. She could hear voices, and she blinked her eyes open slowly through the sleep that had gathered in them, surprised to see two figures across from her - Revali and Link. They were silently looking over a map in front of them as well, and as she stirred, they noticed her movement. Both of them looked up at once.
“We wondered when you would wake up,” Revali greeted her, and Zelda simply sat up straight and brought her robes closer around her as she did so. She looked to Link, who only met her gaze evenly, nodding once.
“Sav’otta,” she greeted them tiredly. “I didn’t expect to fall asleep here last night. Sorry.”
“Was it because of this?”
Navy blue feathers slid a note across the table towards Zelda, and she looked at it in surprise to see the You Have One Month note. Her hands fumbled with the map in front of her, and she lifted it to see the same note underneath; the one she had gotten.
She realised it at the same time Link spoke.
“We all got one.”
Zelda’s mouth dropped open a little; what did she do with that information? Had one person managed to sneak in and deliver all of these notes without getting caught, or was it multiple? Why had they bothered to deliver one to all of them?
“Nothing more than empty threats,” Revali said, standing suddenly and stretching his wings back behind him. “We shouldn’t let it get to us. Some of your warriors are going in to spy on the Yiga today, if I remember correctly?”
The Rito’s sharp green eyes flicked expectantly to Zelda then, and she nodded hastily, getting to her feet as well.
“Good. I say we wait to hear what they find, and continue training,” Revali huffed.
“So the plan remains the same,” she clarified, and the Rito and Link both nodded in response. Zelda folded her arms, trying to shake the fear that had suddenly planted itself in her mind. She knew the time was coming soon. Why was seeing it in writing so much scarier?
As the day progressed, and the sun neared its zenith, Zelda finally found herself outside Gerudo Town, under the shade of a massive tent, to practice using spears. Each of them were spending a little time with each other’s weapons, just to be more versatile, and the first week would be Mipha. Thankfully, the Zora also knew how to heal, and assured them that if she accidentally hit any of them she would look after it immediately. Zelda wasn’t fazed. Scrapes and bruises were a given in training.
Link, despite wearing his desert outfit, was already sweating; Revali looked a little uncomfortable maybe, but was otherwise holding himself together; Urbosa and Daruk were obviously in their element; and Mipha was doing surprisingly well despite the dry environment.
Each of them had a training spear to start, and Mipha slowly and methodically walked them through the movements. Link seemed to be pretty well savvy with every weapon already, since apparently the royal guards were trained to be comfortable using anything. Revali was the most uncomfortable with the spear, but at least appreciated as an archer that he wasn’t required to get too close.
“Let’s try pairing off,” Mipha finally suggested, once they’d gotten used to the basics. “I’ll take Revali. Urbosa and Daruk - Link and Zelda,” she said decidedly, and although Zelda nearly argued it, she realised there was no use. Those pair-ups made the most sense. She looked expectantly towards Link, who looked a little apprehensive, and seeing so caused a smile to pull at the corners of her lips.
“I’ve had plenty of training, so you’d better not go easy on me,” she warned him, getting into the stance that Mipha had shown them. Link mirrored her, and as the others spaced out, the Gerudo and Hylian squared off.
Zelda lunged first, tired of waiting for him to make a move, and Link predicted and dodged it easily. He swung the spear around in a way she hadn’t seen before, and swept at her ankles, taking her clean off her feet. She hit the sand flat on her back and was nearly winded. Seriously?
Link was above her immediately, offering her a hand up, but she ignored it and hopped back to her feet.
“Again,” she said breathlessly, getting back into the position from before. Link reluctantly prepared, and this time Zelda made the same movement. Again, Link swung around, but this time she jumped, rolling forward to stab the spear towards him. He moved to dodge, but was just slightly too slow, and the spear hit his shoulder solidly.
She made the mistake of not following up.
Link fell, but as he fell, tossed his spear at her. It hit her in her shoulder, hard, and again she tumbled back into the sand. Both of them looked at each other from their spots on the ground. Link had a faint smile on his lips, and seeing it made Zelda feel even more angry.
Laughter broke the silence before she could say anything. Urbosa had Daruk wailing his arms at the end of her spear, and was focused on Link and Zelda at the moment.
“You two really are something else, you know that?” the chieftain said with a knowing smile, the sort that made Zelda feel like she was just a little girl again.
“Ngh- Lady Urbosa, please-”
Daruk suddenly clapped his arms together above his head, and the spear Urbosa had pointed at his chest ricocheted off, landing between Revali and Mipha, who both had the foresight to jump nimbly out of the way.
“That really is some power,” Urbosa marveled, and Zelda and Link were only just dusting themselves off now after getting up from the sand. The Princess stared down at the ground, wiped a few errant tears away briefly, and then looked back towards the other Champions. It was hard enough losing any sort of a battle to Link, but to hear each of them talk about their special powers? Really great. She had nothing to show for herself. Even though she’d accepted that fact over and over again, it didn’t make it any easier.
“Well… It’s not lightning from my finger tips,” Daruk replied sheepishly, and Urbosa smiled back at the Goron.
“You flatter me, Daruk. Anyways - how are you two doing?”
“Hero boy isn’t letting the Princess have a hit in,” Revali chirped up, with a noticeable hint of sarcasm in his voice. Even though Zelda may have agreed with him, she always felt like the Rito’s tone was overly mean, and hated that it made her feel sympathetic towards Link as a result.
“It’s fine,” she blurted out, resting her spear into the sand. “It’s good practice. Evidently I’ve still got a ways to go,” she added, upset at her own tone and purposefully avoiding Urbosa’s disappointed stare. The chieftain had taught her everything she knew - and she was considered a formidable fighter - but she wasn’t used to facing such skilled opponents. Zelda couldn’t help feeling bitter now, but was wishing it would fade.
“It’s fine,” she repeated, willing herself to calm down. “Shall we break for some water?”
“Water would be lovely,” Mipha said softly, and Zelda smiled gratefully towards the Zora before glancing back at the Hylian volunteers.
“Could you please bring us the hydromelon lemonade I had stored inside?”
They looked surprised at first, at being suddenly put to work, but nodded and disappeared hastily. Zelda chatted with Mipha idly about spear technique, but became increasingly impatient for the lemonade when the Zora promptly changed the conversation topic to Link. Why is it always about him?
When the volunteers finally returned with the massive, ice-cold jugs already dripping from condensation, everyone lined up quickly to fill a cup. It was always strange feeling something cold going down, but Zelda savored it anyways, and as she downed her cup, didn’t even notice that Link had slowly come closer and closer.
“I’m sorry,” he suddenly said, and Zelda slowly looked up at him over the ridge of her cup. She raised her eyebrows expectantly - for what? - even though she’d been so obviously annoyed earlier.
“You told me not to go easy on you,” he replied honestly, and she sighed then, drinking the last of what was in her glass and turning to him.
“And you didn’t, so what are you apologizing for?”
She hated how irritable she felt. This was all her fault, not his, but he was driving her mental anyways and she couldn’t seem to shake it. She looked away, unable to meet his eyes, knowing she was in the wrong. He had a look about him that seemed to cut through all the bullshit, and it was unnerving.
She swore he went a little harder on her for the rest of the day. He knocked her over time and time again, and not once did she hear another sorry, not once did he come and offer to help her up. She hated that he was responding exactly how she’d wanted him to before.  But she knew that her own judgments about him were affecting her opinion. He couldn’t win. She didn’t trust him, didn’t trust the sword, and hated that she couldn’t have it that easy.
A few times she got the upper hand on him, and the success she felt from it was more than enough to make up for the dozens of times he knocked her over with ease. By the end of the day, both her and Link were covered in sand, sweat, and bruises.
“Your speed is a lot better now,” Link observed as they put the training spears away- it was the first time he’d talked since their earlier break for lemonade. She looked sideways at him and pushed away a few strands of hair that had escaped her ponytail.
“Thank-you,” she replied. Green eyes met blue, and she took a moment to stare at him as long as he allowed. She wasn’t expecting him to meet her gaze so evenly, and finally she tore away.
“You’re… really good,” she admitted quietly, before taking off back across the tent. It was his job to be good, sure, but just as much his as was hers; she was ashamed she’d lost so many times to him, but at least she had improved. Hopefully by the end of the spear days, she’d be even better, but now the training schedule had been pushed up. The “You have one month” notice was weighing on everyones mind.
The sun beat down on her as soon as she left the tent. Away from the shade, the heat was oppressive, and sweat beaded on her forehead as she lifted her face towards the sky and shut her eyes. Still, something about feeling the warmth on her skin was refreshing. Training was exhausting, and now there was no cold breeze to greet her, no icy hydromelon lemonade left. She considered changing into her Hylian prayer dress - as much as she hated it - and sweating out the rest of the afternoon by the statue of Hylia, where no one would bug her. It was always covered in dust, though sometimes she wiped it clean, hoping that any little bit of servitude might suddenly change the minds of the powers that be.
But training had left her bitter and tired. She knew only one place to go that would help her cool off; and the bonus was, it was unlikely anyone would find her there.
Zelda didn’t see Urbosa, Captain Torae, or Rhiari on her way back to the palace, but was relieved by it. She changed into her swimming outfit - one of the only items she owned that was sapphire blue as opposed to the usual red - and then inched along the wall outside her room until she was almost right behind Gerudo Town.
Urbosa would call her an idiot for it. A stumble here would likely break her legs or if she was unlucky, her neck, but she’d been making the climb up ever since she was strong enough to do it. Water from deep underground wells came up out of the top of the palace and then was directed throughout town, but it also collected in a small shaded pool only a couple meters above her room. She could see town, but they couldn’t see her.
Carefully she hoisted herself up the rock, her bare feet gripping on the usual stones, and then swung herself around to slip into the cool water. It was immediately refreshing, and Zelda sighed, sinking in to her shoulders and unable to resist smiling. Much better.
She let her head fall back and soaked her hair briefly, and then leaned forward against the front edge of the rock, looking down into town. Now she could see Urbosa and Captain Torae talking; it was quite an animated conversation, but Zelda had no way of hearing what their words. She wondered how the recon mission was going. It was supposed to take about a week, but they said they would try and send hawks back with updates when they got the chance. Maybe the first one was late.
Again, she wondered about the note; last night she’d slept outside in the war tent, albeit accidentally, but now she wasn’t sure how she’d get any sleep. They couldn’t even up the frequency of patrols, since so many of their guards were out on various surveys and missions. Whoever had left it had obviously had no problem finding their way throughout Gerudo town and the tents, but they’d also not done anything harmful… in fact, having the warning was a little nice, but even then she didn’t know whether they could trust it or not.
Zelda watched idly as Urbosa found her way back to the palace, and the town began to wind down for the day. It was about time to head in. She carefully found her way back down to the doorway of her room, swinging down into her bedroom, and was surprised to see Urbosa already there The chieftain looked at her bemusedly.
“Suntanning?”
“No, no- I was in just taking a dip in one of the canals,” Zelda lied. Urbosa looked skeptical but shrugged.
“Mm. Well, we haven’t had a hawk back from the reconnaissance team yet. I’m a little worried, so I’m sending Torae out to check on them tomorrow.”
“You are?” Zelda couldn’t hide her disappointment, and Urbosa tilted her head at her, arms folded.
“Yes, I am. If whoever left that note had wanted to hurt you, they would have. We need to make sure those warriors are doing okay.”
“I know,” Zelda replied resignedly, standing above one of the small pools in her room and squeezing out excess water from her hair. “It’s just a little scary.”
“This day was bound to come,” Urbosa reminded her, leaving back towards the doorway. “Do you want me to ask Mipha to help guard the palace?”
“No, I can’t ask that of her,” Zelda replied in protest. “I’ll be fine.”
“Alright. The other matter at hand is the divine beasts. I know you wanted to leave them to protect their own homes, but if we want to have any hope in defeating Ganon, we need all of them,” she said. Zelda took a moment to think about it - Urbosa was right.
She nodded to Urbosa as the woman left, and then slumped down into bed. The sun was setting and she could feel her anxiety regarding the note creeping up on her. She wanted to go back down and study in the war tent again, even if it meant sleeping there; something about being close to Revali, Daruk, Link, and the other guards was reassuring. Even camping out in Vah Naboris might have been preferable, but… she had to be there for her people. There was no use hiding away now.
It was a restless and sleepless night anyways. Zelda found herself tossing and turning, checking the doorway every hour and peering warily around her room for any signs of intruders. When the sun finally woke her the next day, it felt like she hadn’t gotten any sleep at all.

Favorite “old” Champion? Revali. Wind Waker was the first game i beat all by myself no helping from elder persons and i loved Medli and then Revali happened and just knocked my head sideways.
Least Favorite “old” Champion? least is being REALLY relative but its actually Mipha. they dropped the ball big time with her and I’m out here trying to make up for it.
Favorite “new” Champion? Yunobo. i love me some strong nervous boys.
Favorite Memory? Does Mipha’s Song count? I liked how it was hinted that she was a bad ass. i need more, but i liked what i saw. favorite vanilla memory is ‘and stop following me’ because Zelda is so freaking learned. everyone sees Twilight!Zelda as wise because she’s the one running it and making the big decisions but Wild!Zelda is scientific she wants to go to hyrule university she’s gonna fight this evil with knowledge and that is so rad to portray. she’s a woman in her equivalent of a STEM field ffs.
Favorite Region? i am weak for Zora’s Domain tbh i love seeing what they do with it each game and this one did not disappoint at all.
Favorite Divine Beast? I remember having fun with Vah Medoh, but Windblight was my least favorite he can eat shit.
Favorite Trial (if you can remember)? the one where the Gerudo lady is dehydrated on the slate and then you tell her hey they’re making your favorite cocktail they got fresh ice and she’s like HOT DAMN and she’s gone.
Lastly, your favorite outfit of Link’s? the rubber suit but hear me out okay its not about how it looks on Link I wanna know how this suit came to be.
how is rubber an ancient/rare material, its a tree, how is a catfish the helmet who’s finding catfish in hyrule and who is associating them with dispelling lightning, who is the poor sod who was out with his rubber during a thunderstorm and saw the land around him be torn asunder and he’s just standing there utterly untouched and he says i’m going to use the absolute last of this material and make a gimp suit with a catfish helmet i need this lore in my life.
this is a brand new hot off the presses meme so i really should tag some people and ensure this baby bird takes flight huh
@pastel-goth-occultist definitely, and uh.... @slatebearer @mutedpetals and @linklewinklewoman i’ll do one extra.

Ooooh, any chance at all of getting a story to do with Kohga in a vai outfit? Being slutty or otherwise? 😱
Ahh i take it this is based off of that one piece that i had on the blog right? It got taken down, but I'll do some writing in memorial
(Also rip to @ficti0nalskelet0n who got sent to horny jail for our sins)
"Fresh mushrooms! Seal pops! Sugarcane muffins!"
It was hard to ignore the constant cries for attention from the merchants at their booths. Once a year, the Gerudo people hosted a festival right outside the city; known as the thunder festival. It was meant to show gratefulness towards the thing their land was known for; the power of thunder. Passed down from chief to chief, it was something the Gerudo gave thanks for. So much so, the festival was held outside the city, letting all kinda partake.
And of course, Sooga was with the princess, as well as the champions, and even the king (who was currently pitching woo and some young looking thing that he SWORE looked familiar). He'd include his Master, but he commanded him to stick with the group while he went off to Ganon knows where. Sooga HATED being at parties without Kohga. So many women ogled him, and he was quite uncomfortable.
"Relax. Anyone tries touching you, I'll claw their eyes out."
Sooga looked down at Revali. If it wasn't Link or Teba, or even Sidon, it was Revali who acted as his friend. Sooga chuckled.
"Thank you. Thats nice. I uhm...feel myself being looked at."
He tried not to look at one of the women who was making...gestures with their hands. Suffice to say, he had to cross his arms over his chest. Revali chuckled, nudging him with his shoulder.
"Shame on Kohga, leaving you to fend yourself. Like a lamb amongst wolves."
"I'm...sure he had some reason for leaving."
"Uh huh. Look, I'll take care of you until he comes back for you. Why don't we get you a drink? You look suffering in this heat."
Revali walked him to some stand, and after one look at him, the vai chuckled, damn near swooning at the sight of Sooga.
"Ah, Vasaaq~. I take it you two are thirsty? What are you into? Melons? I have quite the sweet pair right-"
Revali stepped in front of him, exhaling sharply from his beak.
"Apple juice is fine. Extra ice. And please make it quick, I am NOT a patient bird."
Sooga half expected a cat fight (bird fight??)between them, but was relief when she pulled away, going to get their juice. Sooga chuckled.
"You looked ready to butcher her."
"I was tempted. But for you, I decided to be a civil bird."
Revali lightly patted at his tit (for straight reasons), before she returned with two large classes of apple juice; with plenty of crushed ice, and garnished with cool safflinas. Revali paid for them, and grabbed both their drinks, turning heel as he handed Sooga his.
"Thank you kindly."
Revali nodded as he took a sip. Sooga followed suit, only to frown.
"Revali, can I trade you straws? I believe mine has a hole in it somewhere."
"You want to...trade straws?"
Revali looked confused, before his eyes locked onto the straw. Sooga shook his head.
"I tried to suck on it, but nothing. It is fine though, you paid for these, it's not fair to-"
"Trade. Now."
Oddly commanding. They traded straws, and Sooga almost felt bad, letting Revali suck in vain at the straw. HE needed it because of his mask, but why did Revali need to keep trying so much? He was about to ask, when Riju suddenly grabbed at his hand, yanking at his free hand.
"Sooga! Enough squawking with Revali! We need to go dance!"
Sooga barely had enough time to have Revali hold his drink, before he was dragged to the dancing group of people. Stone slabs made a makeshift stage, but amongst the sand, were MANY a person dancing with their respective partners. Daruk danced (tried to anyway) with Mipha, Teba danced with Sidon- it was a charming sight, amongst the many veiled ladies. He never liked women, but he did appreciate such pretty clothes. Riju yanked him towards the stage, only to ditch him for the sake of joining her mother.
He couldn’t blame her. Though, now he was vulnerable, already getting looks from the vai without partners. He thought about ditching this whole thing, when someone grabbed his hand. He immediately wanted to recoil, thinking it was a woman, when their eyes met. Red veil covered their face, highlighting a rather...stunning set of eyes.
"Hey. You don't look like you're taken. Mind if I borrow you?"
Something about them was...familiar. He couldn’t figure it out, but something about them was alluring. Maybe it was their big, full tummy. He nodded.
"I would...be honored."
"Thought so. Let's go pretty boy!"
He watched their hair bounce as they peeled him away from the single ladies, and onto the dance floor. Gerudo dancing was different from Hylian dancing; it involved less focus on the legs, and more on both the stomach, and the hands. And his partner knew EXACTLY how to move. They moved flawlessly to the music, in sync with their fellow Gerudo. The Gerudo dance was meant to tempt and entice their partner, and suffice to say, he was enticed.
Their belly swayed to and fro, and like a pendulum swaying in the hands of a master, Sooga was under their control. It was why, when the dance finally ended, with the Gerudo women being in the arms of their partners, Sooga didn't push them away. Their belly pressed against his, his hand supporting their upper thigh. Their eyes met, and Sooga was met with an unfortunate situation; he was INCREDIBLY attracted to whoever this was.
"You want me so bad, you look dumb. Come on~"
Suddenly Sooga was being pulled away from the crowd, and behind some building, he was suddenly shoved against a wall. Their hands wandered his frame, up his hips, right till they got to his tits.
"W-wait-"
"Shh. You're horny as shit, let me take care of you~"
He wanted them to touch him. Absolutely. But he would NOT be unfaithful. He grabbed their hands, pushing them away.
"I apologize. Truly. You are beautiful. But I am promised to another."
They blinked, as if not understanding, before they tore their hands away, and revealed their face.
"Sooga you fucking idiot thats ME."
"Master Kohga?! You're wearing this? Whatever for?"
"Its SUPPOSED to be sexy. You telling me you didn't know it was with ME?!"
Sooga was expecting anger, but instead, he received a hearty laugh.
"What's...funny?"
"You didn't even need to know it was ME, and yet, I was the ONLY wanted you wanted out there! Oh that's so stupid and sweet. Come here you, let me kiss you and your stupid face."
Kohga pushed his mask up a bit, and smooched him, right on his stupid lips. The kiss didn't last very long though, and Kohga found himself on his knees, pulling at Sooga’s belt in order to pull out his cock.
"W-wait what are you doing? What if someone sees us? We aren't exactly concealed-"
"Oh my god you're no fun-look, here."
Kohga put the cloth over his his cock, gesturing to him, as if he was a genius.
"Master Kohga this doesn't really-"
He was suddenly silenced by his lips around his head. Sooga wished he had more willpower to say no, but holy SHIT his Master had just...such a lovely mouth. He put his hand on his head, using the other to try to grip onto the wall behind him.
"I...s-suppose I can't very well tell you no, can I?"
Kohga chuckled as he pulled back a bit, probably because he really did find Sooga’s words amusing. Sooga checked the corner for a second, trying to see if anyone was looking. No one yet. But it'd be so easy to get caught. Someone, anyone to turn the corner and catch them-
"FUCK!!-"
Kohga apparently didn't like the fact that he was paranoid. He had suddenly taken him in fully, till he felt himself hit the back of his throat. Even Kohga didn't go this quickly. It'd normally take Sooga out of it, but something about them being able to get caught, something about the way the way the sun shined through the thin cloth; helping Sooga see the way his thick tongue savored his tongue.
"Alright. If you want me, you will have me."
Sooga grabbed his head with both hands, and after bucking his hips into his throat, he came. It felt good, watching as Kohga kept his eyes on him, the entire time he emptied down his throat. Sooga finally let go to let Kohga pull away, and Sooga tried not to be aroused by seeing the cum drip onto the sand below. Kohga chuckled.
"Take it you like this outfit, eh big guy?"
"I...I do. I should buy you more. In different colors. Maybe some earrings."
"Well I mean, if you INSIST."
Kohga chuckled, getting up, wrapping his arms around his neck, and pressing his lips against his. Even through the cloth, Sooga could still taste the bit of cum from his Master's mouth.
"Sooga what the hell has been-oh."
Revali stopped in place upon seeing them mid make out. Kohga pulled away from the kiss, resting his head on Sooga’s chest.
"Revali. So sweet of you for checking up on my man here. You got him all nice and warmed up for me, really appreciate it."
Revali glared him down for a second, before scoffing, and leaving. Sooga coiled a strand of his hair in between his finger.
"You don't like him looking at me, do you?"
"Absolutely the fuck not. You're mine, bird brain can suck it."
"I thought you DIDN'T want him to do that?"
"....I'm so fucking in love with you."

To Meet the Shell
Chapter 1: Prologue: The heart which forms a hole
Your sister has gone to aid the Hero in his fight and fulfill her duty as Champion. You will cheer for her, won’t you? Let us pray that she returns safely to us, my son."
Sidon had readily nodded his head and told his father ‘yes’ with a smile even though he didn’t fully understand everything. But he knew his sister needed him, and how important it was to cheer her on.
It had been almost four days now.
The first night before bed, Seggin and most of the royal guard had gathered up, leaving in a hurry. The young prince didn’t know what was happening. Seggin didn’t have an answer for him when he asked. They didn’t know either, but were leaving to help Mipha just in case.
The next day, there was still no news. Nor the day after that. No one knew anything when he asked. Not about Mipha.
So here he was, making another prayer to the goddess statue.
“ ...And thank you, Miss Hylia, for all the times you bring her home safe. Please do it again so I can give my sister big warm hugs. “ Sidon clapped his hands, bowing his head to the statue as he finished his prayer.
The prince’s head snapped up at the sound of his name being called in the distance, recognizing it as Muzu’s. He shook his head, knowing it was time for bed. Sidon ran on his little legs, making himself scarce. He knew the guards would tell where he went but he wasn’t ready for bed. Not yet. He just wanted to stay up and wait for Mipha a little longer, that’s all!
Sidon ran down towards the central plaza, hiding behind the fountain as he watched Muzu begin down the stairs when one of the guard called for him. The prince watched nervously as they spoke before the two hurried back the way they came, likely called away for other business. He gave a sigh of relief. It would be easier avoiding whoever Muzu sent after him instead.
 “ Prince Sidon? “
Sidon squeaked surprise, falling on his bottom. The toddler prince looked up from where he sat, a young black zora standing over him. “ I’m sorry! Are you okay? “ He said helping him up. “ Bazz? “ He said, recognizing him as two more older kids came up beside him. “ Yeah, and the Big Bad Bazz Brigade! “ He said smiling before tilting his head. “ So what are you doing? “ “ Shouldn’t he be at the palace or something…? “ Rivan asked. “ He snuck out like the rest of us. “ Gaddison said, Sidon quickly ducking his head. “ Are...are you gonna tell...? “
Gaddison and Rivan looked to Bazz who scratched his head. “ He’s even smaller than us. Just a toddler. And he’s the prince, if something happens it’d be really bad. We could get in really big trouble for not saying anything.  “ Rivan said wearily. “ Yeaaahh….” Bazz let out, Sidon’s eyes growing big. “ But...you’re waiting for Lady Mipha to come back, aren’t you? Just like me and Rivan are waiting for our folks…”
The prince bobbed his head. “ Please don’t tell...? Just a little longer, please?  “
“ Okay, just a little bit…” He conceded. “ Stay with us, okay? “
Gaddison gave a shushing noise, gaining the group’s attention. She pointed towards the group of zora who started running down the staircase. Bazz nudged Rivan, the two quickly standing to hide the prince from view.
“ Please hurry! Many of them are in terrible shape, some will not survive the night without proper treatment! “ Said the guard leading them.  “ We’ll see what can be done for them, just keep moving! “
The young group watched as the adults rushed through the plaza, heading in the direction of the Domain’s entrance.
“ They didn’t even notice us, they were running so fast...Are they back? “ Sidon asked, peeking past Bazz’s leg. “ I think so...That was Lady Finia just now with her med kit, as well as the other palace doctors. Most of them anyways. Father is always visiting their med ward, with all the cuts and bruises he gets from training so much. “ Bazz said. “ Come on, let’s follow them! I bet Lady Mipha’s there too. Bazz Brigade, march! “
Sidon kept up as best he could on his shorter legs, Bazz holding his hand to make sure they didn’t lose him to the groups of zora that started to become more and more frequent towards entrance of the Domain. The extended run began to make his feet ache and slow, despite himself. He inevitably stumbled, the three stopping to make sure he was alright. Gaddison was the first to pick him up before the other two.
“ You sure? I don’t mind carrying him. I’m the leader, after all. Actually, it should be me.“ The taller of the black zora said. “ It’s fine, he’s cute. “ Gaddison said, making the little prince all shy. “ Besides, neither of my parents are in the guard. I can look after him while you two find your dads. “
“ Okay, but I’m next if you get tired. That’s an order. “ He said as they continued once more.
“ Sir, yes sir. “
The prince clung to Gaddison’s lavender frame as they began their trek again in earnest. Going much faster than before, he watched curiously at the other zora that went by. His heart raced when they finally drew near the Domain’s entrance. The soldiers who had left were back, now battered and weary. They struggled to carry their wounded. Few could be seen not already lending their shoulders or backs to those unable to walk.
And then there were the wagons, the pale almost gray lavender of Finia seen climbing down one of the carts.
“ I need an extra pair of hands! And bring me some extra linens! We don’t have near enough as it is! “ She barked out, one of the physicians hopping off another cart to assist.
As Gaddison set down the young prince, Bazz pointed towards the dark blue soldier approaching the royal family’s physician.
“ Rivan, look! It’s your father, Trello! “ He said, Rivan’s shoulders sagging as he sighed in relief.
Sidon looked towards the various cliffs surrounding the Domain, looking for the familiar silhouette of his sister’s Divine Beast. “ …I don’t see Ruta anywhere close. My sister did not come back with them…? “
Bazz hummed. “ I don’t see my father either…”
“ Come on, let’s go ask my dad! He probably knows where they are!  “ Rivan said bouncing in place before finally running ahead of them, Bazz trailing after him with Sidon and Gaddison in tow.
Sidon watched the surprised expressions of the nearby adults as they saw them, turning their heads. Their eyes only widened in shock when they saw him with the other children, stopping in their tracks. Trello nearly fell over when Rivan ran into him, hugging him for all he was worth. “ Rivan…!? “
“ Father! Welcome back! I’m so glad you’re alright, I missed you! “ He said, his eyes bright as he looked up at him.
“ Listen to me, my son...I’m happy to see you as well but you all need to go home now, alright? “ He said, kneeling down to his height to regard him and his friends. “ You all need to…Prince Sidon…? “
The young prince immediately obscured himself behind Gaddison as Trello stared, Finia frowning as her gaze fell on him.
“ Trello! Now is not the time to lose focus. Few enough are keeping together as it is! “ She said as the dark blue soldier’s grip tightened on his son’s shoulders.
Sidon didn’t quite understand what she meant, only that when he looked around, he noticed many starting to cry and hide their faces.
“...Y-you should not have brought him here…” Trello let out, failing to keep his voice even as he stared right through them.
Rivan’s expression quickly fell, shrinking in place. “...Papa…? “
“ W-wait, it’s not his fault, sir! Please don’t be angry! It was my idea! “
He broke from his trance, looking to Bazz as though for the first time.
Bazz…”  Trello quickly straightened, only for his name to be called by the zora soldiers behind him.
“ We need help getting Seggin in the wagon! “ One of them said.
 Finia cursed.
“ Father…? “
Bazz’s expression quickly turning frantic as he saw the state of his father while they carried him, ice impaled into his skin and bandages dyed red. Gaddison blocked the prince’s view before he too beheld his injuries, her own gaze one of shock.
Trello quickly moved, catching Bazz before he could get near. He shouted while Finia assisted getting the limp zora onto the wagon. He pulled as they unchocked the wheels and readied the horses.
“ Finia, wait! Please, take me with you! Please! He needs me! I-I need to be with him! He’s all I have! “ He begged.
“ Listen to me, Bazz. There’s no room in the wagon for you, it’s cramped enough as it is. Everyone that isn’t hurt, I NEED. To save your father. Do you understand? I’ve done what I can but I need to take him to the palace now. “ The doctor told him before climbing back onto the wagon. “ Trello, have someone walk these children home and escort the prince safely back to the palace. Take Bazz with you, I’ll have someone take him to the medical ward once you arrive. Be strong, they need you! “
Trello swallowed, grip tightening on Bazz as they horses took off, pulling the wagon. The young boy watched helplessly as Finia shouted at the zora ahead to clear a path, quickly departing from view.
“ What h-happened? He’s gonna be okay, right? “ He asked when finally set down.
“...Finia is the best doctor there is, Bazz...He couldn’t be in better hands. “ Trello said.
“ ...A-and Lady Mipha? Sh-she’d never leave him like that…” Bazz said, making him flinch. “ She’ll be here soon, a-and when she comes she’ll heal him...She’ll heal everyone, right? “
Trello didn’t meet his eyes, sucking in air. “...We should not tarry here. Come along...I think I saw Kapson around. Rivan, you and Gaddison will go with him while I take...take Prince Sidon back to the palace. “
His son nodded his head quietly and that was that. Trello left to find the priest, thanking him for his help before departing with the prince and a distraught Bazz in tow. The trip back to the palace was entirely silent, save for Bazz’s quiet sniffles. Carried in his arms, Sidon could feel just how unhappy Trello was. The prince wanted to ask for his sister, but was afraid he might become angry and yell at him. He knew already he was in trouble, he didn’t want to make it worse.
At least he thought he was in trouble. No one said anything when they arrived, one of the handmaidens simply took him and brought him to his room to sleep.
Not that he could, the young boy sitting up in his water berth as soon as the doors had closed. Hearing voices outside his room, he climbed back out and snuck over to the door. He pressed his ear to it’s surface, trying to make out what the servants were saying.
The voices were too quiet though, he only knew they weren’t happy. It was too soon for him to try and sneak out, so he went back to the water berth to wait.
Despite difficulty sleeping, he eventually dozed off for a time. It was a shallow sleep. One that was broken by the sound of crying. Sidon rubbed his eyes, water dripping everywhere as he hurried off his bed again. He dared a peek outside his door, spying the guard posted at his door trying to console one of the servants.
“ Come now...y-you mustn’t be so loud, the prince will hear. “ the guard said in a broken tone.
As the prince looked closer, he saw that the guard was also crying. As he led the other zora away, Sidon took the chance to escape his room. Shutting the door quietly, he disappeared down the opposite side.
It was only a few corridors later that he was spotted, squeaking at the sound of his name. The guard that spotted him only stared some moments before going to kneel beside him.
“...Your father is in the throne room...I’m sure he wants to see you…” she said attempting a smile. “ Go on...the guards won’t stop you…”
Sidon hesitated at first, watching her for a couple steps before running on his little legs. True to her word, the guard didn’t come after him. Neither did the others when they saw him. Sidon couldn’t feel glad of it. Not when he kept seeing people crying and sad everywhere he went. It only confused and worried him.
Reaching the outside staircases to the throne room, it only seemed to get worse as he listened to the voices inside.
“ --Thieves! Wretches! Curse them...Curse them all! Curse HIM ! She would have never accepted if it weren’t for that hylian! “ He heard as he reached the top of the left staircase, keeping out of view as he saw Muzu and his father.
“ That is not true, Muzu. She loved Ruta the moment she laid eyes on him. Moreover, it was not just for him.  It was for our people, she did it as her duty to protect them... “ King Dorephan said quietly, his gaze to the floor.
Muzu’s tears ran full stream, hands clenching as he shouted. “ And he was supposed to protect her! He and Hyrule’s princess! Instead they failed us! HE failed us! He could not even fulfill the destiny he was chosen for! At least Princess Zelda was able to repent her failure in the end by trapping that beast! ....Though it both her and the kings fault for even--“
King Dorephan’s claws scraped his throne as he stood, voice raised loud in lost composure. “ I will hear no more from you, Muzu! Hyrule Kingdom lays burning and in ruins! How many families and their loved ones lay dead on the ground!? How many are still fighting for their lives while they flee to safety...?! They have lost everything while we have lost...I have lost... “
The kings advisor became contrite under as the king’s gaze turned to pain. “ …My king, I…Forgive me...Forgive me, I...”
“ Do you not think I feel the same…? I feel all that and a thousand times more…” Sidon watched his father hide his face under a hand, sinking back down on his throne. “ Please leave, Muzu...I...I need some time to myself right now…”
Muzu grimaced, wiping his own eyes as he bowed in earnest. “ …Yes, your majesty…”
Sidon watched him drag his feet, head and shoulders hung low as he left through the opposite staircase. The little prince kept hidden until he reached the bottom, then peeking back into the throne room.
“...My beloved wife, please forgive me...I should never have let this happen…”  He heard as his father quietly shed tears.
A hollow pit began to form in Sidon’s stomach as he came out of hiding, walking into the throne room. “ Papa? “
His father immediately stilled, looking to meet his eyes. “ ...Sidon…You’re still up…”
“ Papa, why are you sad? I don’t like it. I don’t like you to be sad. “ He said as he went up to him. “......Papa, where is Mipha? Why isn’t she back yet? “
“ Oh, Sidon...Come here. Come here, my son. Come here…”
King Dorephan leant forward and picked him up, his large hands making the prince appear far smaller than he was. His father held him closely, pressing his face against him while his tiny arms tried to wrap around his neck. The kings form began to tremble, Sidon feeling every little tremor.
Sidon didn’t like it.
He didn’t like seeing his father this way one bit. “ Papa…? Papa, what’s wrong? Please tell me…! “
“ Your sister…She’s not coming back this time...” King Dorephan let out, breath hitching. “ ...I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Sidon…”
“ But Papa...I don’t get it. Why not? Mipha always comes back…She promised. ” He said looking up at his father.
“ ...Mipha is gone, Sidon...She’s with your mother now…” His father explained, regretting every word he had to say.
  Mipha is gone.
The words wrapped around Sidon’s heart and began to squeeze. They continued to dig in until a piece of him chipped and fell away, forming a hole within.
“...But why? Why did she leave too…? I cheered really hard this time...A-and I prayed lots. “ His eyes began to water. “ Did….Did I do something wrong…?
King Dorephan immediately hugged him tighter to himself, even as his tears fell onto Sidon.
“ No, Sidon!  None of this is your fault…It’s no one’s fault. You did everything right. But sometimes....Sometimes bad things still happen. “ He told him. “ We just have to keep doing our best, yes…? That’s all we can do...Please, please, do not blame yourself, alright…? “
The prince sniffled, his lips quivering as he nodded his head. “...O-okay…”
A quiet sob finally escaped his father, rocking him back and forth. “ Oh, my boy...My sweet sweet boy, I-I’m so glad you’re here…! I am. I’m so grateful you’re here...I’m sorry for you to see me l-like this...I promise to be strong for you...Just let me hold you like this a w-while longer...”
Sidon hated it. Hated his father’s grief, the sobs he kept trying to hold back. Hated his own tears, the pain growing inside him, the pain around the palace and the domain.
  Mipha is gone.
He clutched his father and hugged as hard as he could, trying to console him as well as himself.
  Mipha is gone.
The young prince’s sobs ripped out him, joining with his father’s.
  Mipha is gone.
They overpowered his father’s, filling the throne room and echoed into the air outside.

RWBY x Zelda Story
Okay, I really am evil. Or I'm just currently blocked with another story of mine. Seriously though, there is some potential to bringing elements of Hyrule into Remnant and I was thinking about the past Sages when some inspiration struck me in regards to some RWBY characters. Ocarina of Time was the first Zelda game I was exposed to and it really struck me how the majority of these important sages were women. So that influenced this list.
Pyrrha: Gerudo/ Sage of Spirit. This is a connection that other people have made, but can you honestly blame them? Pyrrha's issues in canon do fit up with the Gerudo's difficulties when it comes to men. Not to mention the red hair, her height, I bet a lot of fans of both series might have imagined what Pyrrha would look like in traditional Gerudo wear (someone link me the fan art if it exists) and how she would interact with the notable Gerudos of the series Nabooru, Urbosa, and Riju. (Telma as well.)
Blake: Sheikah/ Sage of Shadow. This is another easy connection to make. With the release of Breath of the Wild, the Sheikah have gotten more ninja like and we all know how Blake LOVES ninjas (winks). Of course, shadows really fits with Blake. Aside from that, when it comes to the usual Sheikah of the games Impa, she's usually depicted as an older woman with great experience that can help Link in some manner. I think this really fits with Blake because out of her team she is the one with the most real world experience. I think she would bond as well as appreciate the insight of an older ninja lady.
Weiss: Zora/Sage of Water. Okay, from here on it's more tangential connections. Weiss is technically more associated with ice and snow then water, but considering that ice is just water frozen I don't think it's that bad of a stretch. Besides, water is the element that is most associated with grace which I can say Weiss really shows. It's also the element of adaptability which I can see Weiss starting to really harness as she's currently growing. Then there's the really notable parallels between her and Ruto. Both started out as spoiled brats that became quite capable young women as they matured. I get the feeling they'd bond a lot though Ruto would definitely get on Jacques Schnee's case (her dad by comparison was mostly just useless). Also, Weiss would probably respect Rutela's queenly grace and appreciate Mipha's more quiet, kind nature. (Sidon would probably be like Ruby for her, someone she takes a while to warm up to.)
Yang: Goron/Sage of Fire. Come on, Yang would completely fit in with the Gorons. Aside from Yang's 'fiery' nature, her strength and determination would definitely win the Gorons' respect. Heck, they might even enjoy her puns. I can just see her challenging Darunia or Daruk to a wrestling competition. She would also really work well with the Gerudo, but the Gorons for her are a better fit in my opinion.
Ren: Kokiri/Sage of Forest. Okay, this is a little more out there than the others. Still, Ren really does fit with the idea of a calm forest and not just because of his color choices. Most of the Kokiri aside, I get the impression him and Saria would probably get along well as the more quiet thoughtful souls of their groups. Saria would probably enjoy his natural remedies and Ren would probably enjoy her showing him how to play an ocarina with Makar accompanying with his violin. Medli being a Sage of Earth could be classified under this and that brings an interesting jam session to mind.
Nora: Sage of Light. I know, she's much more fitting for lightning than light. I'm looking through what I have to work with and I really can't see her being a farm hand. Admittedly, putting her and Rauru side by side is an interesting contrast. The thing about Nora is that we honestly don't know much about her before she Ren and met. Granted, from Boop and what we've seen of her as a child, I get the impression Nora didn't have the same loving familial support that the others have had at one point. I'm hoping we will get more of her backstory in later volumes.
Jaune: Royal/Wielder of the Triforce of Wisdom. This is perhaps the most odd choice to people and yet it makes sense to me. Maybe it's because Jaune's greatest strength to me is not his fighting ability, but his tactical skills and relationships with others. Basically, he's a leader before he's a fighter whereas Ruby's a fighter before she's a leader. I think that more befits the Triforce of Wisdom then Courage. Also, Jaune's situation with his family kind of bugs me. Despite coming from 'heroes' (implied to be Huntsman), Jaune had no experience in fighting prior to enrolling at Beacon. I don't know why, but I get the impression that if a Huntsman/Huntress had kids, they'd at least teach them how to defend themselves in a worst case scenario. It's like Jaune wasn't even given a chance to try and that his parents didn't train him on purpose. There's got to be a reason for that. Then there's the deal with Crocea Mors and the possibility of Jaune being connected to the last King of Vale. Whether or not they are related by blood, I do think that there is some connection between the two. At the very least, it would explain why Ozpin let him into Beacon despite the forged transcripts (there's no way Ozpin didn't know). After all, it's implied that the King of Vale was probably Ozpin's direct predecessor as the Wizard. Wouldn't surprise me if he keeps tabs on those connected to his predecessors.
Ruby: Wielder of the Triforce of Courage. Oh look, I'm upsetting the balance of the Triforce by giving Wisdom to a man and Courage to a woman. Seriously Aonuma, that explanation made no sense. Back on topic. I was considering the situation with her and Oscar for her while before deciding she was better suited for Courage. Much like Link, she stated as starting out as complete garbage before Qrow took her under his wing. And even though she does have some sort of power, her defining trait to me is her reckless courage. Granted, she's learning from her recklessness, but she is definitely a fighter in how she's probably the first in the action much like Link.
Oscar: Wielder of the Triforce of Power. Kind of a change, but it'd be nice for once to have the wielder of Power on the good guy's side. Oscar has been thrown into this conflict without much warning, possessing neither experience nor great resolve. In other words, he's got a lot of power, but not much wisdom or courage. I can see that changing as he learns and grows. Not to mention it would play into his interactions with Ruby and Jaune in which I see these three having very likeable chemistry.
