So I'm actually watching vox machina for the first time in full (after researching the major story beats and reveals for my mighty nein watch knowledge and watching tlovm) and I already do not agree that any of vox machina would. immediately turn down laudna's resurrection even if they knew about delilah.

because cassandra looked them in the eye and said she was a briarwood and percy—soul still caught in a battle with the entity he sold it to for this very purpose, to end the briarwoods and take his revenge—was the one to stop grog from killing her. because vax took him aside one day and told him, if he lost control, if he put vex or any of the others in danger, he would kill him. and percy gave him his blessing.

because vex took percy's face in her hands as he was losing control, and calmly told him to take off his mask. because keyleth stood by percy's side and kept him straight, worried and argued and stressed and maintained the throughline of good that she knew exists in him. because percy trusted pike enough to ask her, genuinely, what he looked like. and because she saw his deal and cast no judgement and healed him.

even throwing aside the fact that they will see the familiar devastation in bells hells of losing a friend, throwing aside that particular brand of empathy...I think even more than that they understand the power of simply staying by someone's side in their darkness. they know first hand what keeping someone in the light takes, and I think they'll take one look at bells hells and know that they have what it takes to keep laudna safe.

Laudna: He's being used to power the bridge, yeah? They all keep saying we need the bridge to return. Is that true, or is there another way? Keyleth: As far as I know, all of the great arcanists have been thinking just on this problem for a number of weeks now, and the bridge is the only connection we have to Ruidus. No teleportation, no divination, no magic seems to cross that threshold. The bridge is the only thing that gets there. That's why Ludinus made it. That's why you need to take it. That's why it needs to stay until we're all done.

I was just rewatching this scene and I'm going feral over this tidbit because Keyleth now knows there is another way to Ruidus. She knows about the backdoor, which means THEY DON'T NEED THE BRIDGE ANYMORE.

I know Keyleth isn't going to do something reckless. She will wait until she knows it's safe, but at the same time, imagine how much hope she has now that she might be able to free Vax sooner than planned? Keyleth knows there isn't any more need to keep Vax in such suffering in the orb, but she still has to swallow that urge to go and free him because maybe it's not the right time yet. But there is a chance. It can be done.

The binding of Mabel has Begun.

#I've printed half of the signatures of the first book.#it will be fourteen in total which i think is the biggest book I've bound?#worries me a little because i may have to round it which i don't really want to do.#don't love the paper I'm using but I need to use it up and I'd rather do it on something I'm not selling #i still have no idea what I'm doing for the cover. haven't even decided on how I'm going to bind it.#i was really hoping the inspiration would have struck me at this point but no luck #i want the two volumes to match but i don't want them to be the same #i think I'm going to hold off on the second book in case we do ever get another season #two volumes the same size will look nicer. and be easier.#been out of the book binding groove for a while so it's nice to ease back into it #even if formatting was HELL i don't know how you fic binders do it #bookbinding #mabel podcast
