The Shadowhand
Finally taking the leap and posting some of my cosplay photos for the first time! Essek’s character and story arc is one of my all-time favorites in any piece of media, and this cosplay was really a labor of love.
💜 Essek Thelyss created by Matthew Mercer for Critical Role
💜 Cosplay and Beacon prop made by me
💜 Photography by me
(additional notes below the fold)
In addition to making the actual cosplay, the beacon prop, and trying body-paint for the first time, I also fulfilled a long-time dream of trying short hair by getting a real-life Essek haircut (15 inches off).
I’ll probably post photos that show the actual outfit and makeup eventually (once I work up the nerve), but I also just love how these photos turned out! They are both single, long-exposure photographs, and are not edited beyond a slight contrast adjustment and removing a couple tiny artifacts caused by dust on the camera lens.

I am so stoked for extra essek content but i kind of hope that the traitor thing isnt like outright revealed early on because I think the bombshell drop of who the traitor is later is so fucking hype.
Like i hope he has a cloak covering him or something to keep things ambiguous while showing the dealings with the Assembly. I hope its ambiguous enough that you can piece it together if youre paying attention but if youre not then its still mindblowing. I was in the audience during the liveshow when it happened and the hundreds of gasps around me was unreal, I hope non-critters will be able to enjoy it the same!

I've seen quite a few people try to claim that they don't like C3 because it "villianized the Gods out of nowhere and makes it seem like some of the old pcs might have been on the wrong side of history consciously or not" and that's the DUMBEST thing I've heard in quite some time. If y'all genuinely thought the Gods are good then you clearly haven't been paying much attention to C1 and C2. The Gods have always been AWFUL, helpful and "nice" at certain times that suited them but AWFUL nonetheless. I'M BEGGING y'all to start developing some critical thinking skills because nothing related to the Gods in Exandria ever screamed GENUINE GOODNESS it was always the opposite. That said they're unfortunately useful and I don't think it would go too well for the people of Exandria if they all died all of a sudden but they shouldn't be confused for something Good and worth worshipping or loving, they're a necessary evil imo.

“Caleb, look at this diagram that I have, though; I just feel like this can’t be a coincidence, you know what I’m saying? I feel like we should talk about this. Right?” - Beauregard Lionett, C2 E60 (while Caleb is trying to blast a possessed undead stone giant with Fireball and Cat’s Ire)

WHAT IN THE CRITICAL ROLE JUST HAPPENED TO ME
I'm watching cr2 for the first time and I'm at episode 98
And Veth is talking with Yeza about maybe settling down in Nicodranas... And he just asked her to be careful and not put herself in too much danger
And after what happened this past monday ((we are all still crying)) Matthew Mercer from early 2020 hits me with a line directed at early 2020 Sam Riegel
"There are a lot of tales of heroic sacrifices"
...........
I'M SORRY???
RIGHT AFTER FCG'S HEROIC SACRIFICE???
WHAT IS HAPPENING
