And where do your roots end?

Something about seeing only the worst of yourself in the mirror. Something violent and terrifying, but knowing you only grew that violence in response to violence against you. Knowing your power comes from a place of trauma, something you don’t remember but wish had never happened. But it did, and here you are. There’s something new in you that isn’t the you that you understand and you wish it wasn’t but it is. Violence begets violence and you are unable to control what grows from the seeds that were planted. So you have to live with it and try not to let that violence spread.

You’ve already failed once.

And you see it every time you look in the damn mirror.

there is a hollowness inside of rich kids that truly terrifies me.

#no wonder some of them don’t know how to be people #like. i was never poor growing up. we were two disasters from bankruptcy instead of just one. but at least i had normal child experiences??#did my own first aid and was so proud of that. getting dragged to my mom’s work when i had a sick day and getting basically all the regional #colds over in that waiting room. making a grilled cheese or a pbj when my parents weren’t home yet #gotten really annoyed about having to take care of siblings and drive them places #like man sometimes i think I’m so clueless and then others I’m like. how the hell are you people still alive #you look like a deep sea fish collapsing under the lack of pressure on the surface

#chugging along but the book is getting WRITTEN #I have 12.5 scene left btw…#technically in my outline I’m a little past the halfway point #but I think I have ~30k left to go 👀👀#it’s always so funny when you reach a milestone like this bc despite the agony of writing the thing you get all tingly and sappy like..#oh yeah :’) I wrote all that!! I’ve made it so far!!#ive got weird feelings abt this story but i am quite proud #it’s also been a while since I’ve progressed this far with an original project and ngl.. I just want to share something and hopefully offer some hope.

For a lot of trauma survivors, they feel dirty. They feel like they can’t get clean no matter what. They feel like they can’t wash off what was done to them. I was one of them. The keyword being was.

I don’t feel dirty anymore. It took me a long time but I’ve realized that no matter what someone did to me, it doesn’t make me dirty.

What I’m trying to say is… there’s hope. There is so much hope. It can get better.

it really means the world to me to know i’m my nephew’s favorite person

#and i don’t mean in a oh he said i was way cause like he has but he’s also six so he says someone new every week #and sometimes he just wants to annoy his parents or grandma #i mean it in a we were helping my sister and brother in law move today and he cried when there wasn’t a car available #for us to drive from apartment to apartment together #and in a he asked for me to carry him into the house #and in a he hasn’t seen his sister in a while and almost started crying earlier talking about her and i was able to cheer him up #and in a when he’s really throwing a fit i’m the person they ask to come help and calm him down #and i don’t love it purely for the like the pride aspect tho i’m definitely proud of it #but he’s also six and been through way more than he ever should have and i’m so glad that i make him feel safe and loved and listened to #i never want my own kids but if i can be a safe place for the kids in my life that’s all i could ask for #liz rambles

#so pretty much I love NY now lmao #I’d move there just for the museums tbh. love Chicago’s museums butttttt #anywho I went to see my sister for her 21st bday and we had so much fun together #I’m gonna cry bc we get along so well and we really enjoyed each others company and I didn’t want it to end #she’s a whole adult now and I’m so proud of her. shes beautiful and ambitious and kind and I get to have her as my sister #I was so nervous about us getting along or getting annoyed w each other but I think we got much closer over this time and I’m so happy #I miss her already and can’t wait to see her again and eat lots of food and explore and get tattoos. create all the memories #my heart is full and I’m so happy

#rambling #look sometimes i need to be a hater & when that happens i know who to go to bc i know they won’t judge me and #have probably thought the exact same thing #this is not like. serious. this is like when i want to be jealous and overly proud & some other character flaws i have #in a way that won’t hurt anyone. so that they’re not character flaws they’re just quirks. i sometimes have to just be. annoyed #& i <333 having friends who i can whine to. & they do the same thing at other points so like. neither of us can judge #literally everyone has bad emotions and are sometimes petty and jealous and proud or whatever else #the key is dealing in a way that doesn’t hurt other people but also doesn’t hurt you #there is something SO healing about going to complain to a friend about something a bit petty that #would probably be seen as you being rude and judgy by most ppl(bc you are being that to be fair)#& them going YEAH I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING #it’s like rinsing your brain out. spring cleaning. i can carry on trying to be a caring person now that i’ve been allowed #to express frustration #idk i’m phrasing this really badly but just shoutout to my friend who i can be a massive hater with & then move on #“here’s a thing i’m feeling & i know it’s rude so i’m not gonna act on it but like come on….” “no exactly you get it” thank god #“i did this thing (inconsequential) but i told everyone else thing thing (tiny change) bc i’m too proud to admit it”#“no exactly like we both need to work on this but i understand exactly what you mean bc i’m the same” okay. now i can be human again

I wrote that because I tell myself I don’t need to go on walks and I absolutely do or I will loose my mind a bit

then like once a week I’ll go on a long walk and be like “oh wow I feel great, rejuvenated, whatever could it be?” and the cycle repeats and I’m so tired, I need someone to take one for the team and take me on walks, I’m about to start chewing on the furniture
