I’m gonna preface this by saying: I suck at trying to explain things 💀 bare with me, this is probably a bit controversial in terms of fandom stuff

Does anyone else get confused why people get so mad about making characters somewhat ooc?

I think I’m specifically thinking of fanart here, because I often see people getting mad at fanartists for portraying one aspect of a character.. through only one piece of art?

Or even when people fully acknowledge that, yeah, sometimes how they portray a character is a little / very ooc, and they are completely aware of that. Sometimes people just want to have fun with the characters- and that doesn’t necessarily affect how they view or analyze that piece of media

I guess I’m just confused? I get that sometimes it’s bad (infantalizing, not acknowledging that something is ooc, etc.) but, tbh, I’ve not seen a lot of people who portray a character as somewhat ooc who also believe that that’s how the character actually acts

Idk if this made any sense, it’s like 2 am and I’m tired. I’ve just been seeing a lot of ppl heated over this and I’m genuinely lost

Ok so I’ve seen art of this with one sided Radioapple (on Alastor’s side) and just- now I can’t stop thinking about it being on Lucifer’s side

Cuz image Alastor singing “maybe one day I could learn to love you too” and he doesn’t realize that he does love Lucifer

And the reason(s) he doesn’t realize is because 1. He doesn’t love Lucifer romantically, which is what he thinks Lucifer is saying and 2. He doesn’t know how to recognize any kind of love he feels, be it platonic or otherwise
