Hello love! Could I request a ship please? Two would suffice, but idm three either! Whatever works for you! I mainly used the prompts cause I have no idea how to do this sorryyy

I’m British and 5’3” with dark brown hair. Some of my favourite music genres are rock, alt-rock and alt-pop! I’m also really into movie scores/soundtracks. My top three artists are Arctic Monkeys, Hans Zimmer and Paramore. My dream holiday destination is a nice little villa on Lake Como in Italy! I’m currently studying social sciences, which is basically a blend of psychology and sociology. I work part-time in a cinema; it’s pretty boring but I like the discounts on food and tickets! I love movies so much — I write film reviews in my spare time as a hobby! My favourite food is pasta, especially pesto pasta with pine nuts and bacon (it sounds odd but it’s delicious, trust me!) I also love bananas. My fav dessert is raspberry cheesecake, although I’d eat anything sweet tbh. My favourite drink is water; it’s boring but I just don’t like anything else. My dream date is probably something simple yet romantic: for example, maybe a nice candlelit dinner? It could be out at a restaurant or at home. I’m more of a staying in person myself but I don’t mind going out now and again! Movie dates would also be fun, where we’d rant about the film at the end.

I think people would described me as quite introverted and quiet, but I can be very talkative when I really like and trust someone! And I have a habit of ranting about stuff I’m really interested in. When I like something, I love it. My uni work, for example: if you ask me to explain something, I’d just accidentally go on and on. I’m quite sarcastic, but not in a mean way. I know when to stop.

In a partner, I look for someone who is loyal, trustworthy, kind, funny but knows when to be serious, romantic, and gentle. Someone who likes dogs would be a bonus as I have a dog myself!

while carlos knows you're introverted and wouldn't change it for the world, he loves when you get passionate about your interests and he watches as your eyes widen and you ramble, your smile growing more by the minute. even when you pause and apologise when you realise, he's shaking his head and grabbing your hands and asking you to carry on talking because he was really interested in hearing your final point.

carlos gazes at you with a fond smile as you sit next to him on the couch, rambling about the new film you'd just gotten home from seeing with lando, "I mean lando says he didn't like the ending but personally I feel like that's just because the director left it open to interpretation by each person that watches it! I really liked it so maybe I related to the movie more as a whole?-" you cut yourself off, hands covering your mouth as you realise you've been talking at carlos since you got home. "I'm sorry..." he's quick to hold your hands and squeeze them gently, "mi cielo, never apologise! I love hearing you talk about the things you're interested in! with george it's all about the little things, helping you fasten your seatbelt, refilling your water bottle, slow dancing round the kitchen, candid pictures of you on his phone, foot rubs after a long day, helping you do your hair and skincare because he loves taking care of you. he's just so in love with you and wants to show you in any way possible.

"can you pass me the salt please darling?" you don't even look up from the saucepan you're stirring as you wordlessly pass him what he needs. "thank you love." you're not even aware of the way you start humming along to the music that's playing from the speaker on the island counter, george's phone shuffling your joint playlist of top movie scores. he stops what he's doing to turn and look at you, leaning back against the counter, crossing his arms with a smile, "I forgot how much you love this one." you jolt at his voice and turn to see him staring, "well I like it because it's from the first movie we ever watched together!" george feels his tummy flip a little at your answer, "is that so?" you nod and he crosses the room to lean into you, hands falling either side of your body so you're surrounded by him.

a nervous giggle leaves you and he nuzzles his nose into your neck before planting a soft kiss, "dance with me?" he doesn't give you a choice, instead taking your hand in his and tugging you to where there's a little more space, pulling you into a loose ballroom hold and swaying side to side. as the music picks up pace and crescendos, george spins you round faster, relishing in the way your giggles get louder before you're begging him to stop and grabbing him to stand upright, the laughter spilling out of him too. as the song comes to a close he gently holds your face, eyes searching yours before he's placing his lips against yours in the sweetest softest kiss.

1. -I mean both are extremely affectionate but I think Julie Jean takes the cake on clingy just because she’s never had it so safely returned or felt so rightly appreciated for her possessiveness of him. She’s like a cat lying atop their favorite dog at all times and he basks in that, happily carries her around like she’s his pet koala. At night tho, he’s the suffocating snuggle bug in his sleep.

Oomph, him first but it may have been a a fall in lust thing initially. She fell harder from the get-go of his letter. He falls again even harder upon finally meeting her and learning what she’s overcome to be with him.

Both are a bit trash at cooking, but they try, and Julie especially sets her mind to learning his favorite dishes from his mother. He may have a lotta commentary while scrubbing her burnt bottomed pans from all her failed attempts but he happily does them again and again.

In this world with this gal? Bucky Egan is 100% a service!top

Oh 99% her for sure BUT!!! Don’t underestimate the amount of times Bucky’s black tie pocket squares have secretly been her panties or how often he’s wearing one of her perfumed headscarves around his neck, puts Cleven and Rosie to shame in the dandy pilot department

I’d really hate to see either of these robbed did the other, it would not be pretty or likely a lengthy grieving process, tbh, they don’t want life without each other 🥹

Bucky is hella protective, HELLA, and lord knows she needs it and soaks it right up more than most girls would. Honestly rarely finds it stifling, she’s all too well aware of what it’s like to have no one in your corner. But she too is protective of his good name when he’s careless, she’ll go to bat for him any day when some Hollywood big shot tries to be snide, she’ll also do her best to protect him from the drink and the memories

Jeanie is very possessive in the more typical way. Bucky is too, but in a rather more confident manner.

Oh I think they’d both be pretty intense arguers and pick fights easy but it’s mainly a pastime and bit of foreplay, they save their strength for the real deals

Egan is more excited about kids while she’s only pregnant, Jeanie on the other hand is a little scared and also vows to never have another AS she’s pushing the first one out, Jeanie is also the one to then beg for another as soon as she’s healed up and forgotten how bad it hurt. Something about intentionally trying to fuck a life into being riles her up as does the sudden love she has for her tiny baby she never knew she would adore so much, as does watching Johnny be a daddy, he’s so precious with their little nugget it makes her want to give him a whole baseball team.

He does. And it’s super duper emotional, trust me, can’t wait to share when I finally write it all out 💍

Syb reviews Addendum: Some thoughts on the July 21 match outcomes

I usually do my review posts spoiler free and quick and snappy, but I had some Thoughts on the kayfabe and metakayfabe for the July 21 matches, so I figured I’d dump them in a separate post here. More unfiltered, some bitching, and of course, match outcomes spoiled lol.

July 21 was an interesting card (selection) for me because I loved every match I watch, but I disagreed with all the outcomes, for varying reasons and degrees of fairness. My opinion is Just Some Mark, of course, but hey, here it goes.

Ren Narita vs. Gabriel Kidd had Kidd win after a low blow. So some classic bullet club shit. You could tell from the way the crowd deadpanned that they did not like that, and to be honest, neither did I. Narita put in a killer match and looked super strong up there. That said, I get why they did it, even if I don’t like it. Kidd is part of the super scary Bullet Club War Dogs, and he’s technically Narita’s senior. So even though Narita is more over and tbh a better wrestler (though Kidd is no slouch!), in order to sell that angle I get that Kidd had to go over. I’m the least miffed by this. But I wanted it for my boy.

Will Ospreay vs. KENTA I could tell by the tone of the match and the way Kenta was getting a lead in the start was going to go to Ospreay. It was a thrill to see Big Match Kenta but a shame because in addition to disliking Ospreay for shoot reasons, I am in the camp of “he wrestles kinda boring, even though the slick jumpy moves are slick”. This one is difficult to separate from my love of Kenta and my intense dislike of Ospreay, however I really do think it would have been an interesting direction for Kenta’s character development to have big match Kenta beat hotshot IWGP US Champ Will Ospreay. That said, I get that he’s a chill mean midcarder right now. So this is my most personal “I DIDN’T LIKE THAT AND I DONT CARE THAT I’M BEING UNFAIR TO THE ANGLE. I WANTED MY SPECIAL BOY TO WIN” moment lol.

Shota Umino vs Kaito Kiyomiya had a perfect outcome. 5000000/10 no notes.

Kazuchika Okada vs. Taichi look, I love Okada. He’s one of my top guys. Hands down he did not need that win right now and it irks me that despite the match Taichi put out they decided Okada needed to go over. It would have been infinitely special to have Taichi get his ass!!! Why!!! real “okada wins lol” moment.

Sanada vs. Yota Tsuji This one I am being so so unfair about and i love sana-yan and yes he deserves this so much. however. I am completely ass over teakettle on tsuji and he should get away with everything ever mwah mwah. I loved this match and yeah the outcome was right but in my heart of hearts I was hoping for a cheeky Tsuji steal. That said, he did STEAL the HOMETOWN cheers over Sanada, sooooo <3

OC Creation Asks: 1, 3, 13, and 19 for all

[ questions about creating your ocs ]

1: What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

Reed: I made him in-game first. As far as actual character elements go though, the first element I worked with after making him an oc was his whole thing with Dogmeat/Margot. At the time that this was all going on, I had been working with my dog’s trainer to potentially start IGP/bitesports- obviously she’s been washed since then, but I learned a ton about what’s involved in that type of work. Then I went off and played my new FO4 save, and snatched up Dogmeat because why wouldn’t I, and started questioning how in the fuck this random stray dog is able to reliably do protection work. Also why is there a purebred german shepherd just sitting here at a gas station, 200+ years after the end of the world? It obviously got out of control after that and now I have a whole alt startup for my sole + he has his own unique synthetic dog as a replacement for Dogmeat.

Mercy: Backstory for sure- I already had her appearance, name, and personality worked out since they were all yoinked from her RDR2 version. I had a few loose details from Reed & Delta’s backstories to work with, and I had to figure out how to get her from 2077 to 2281 and then across the continental US by 2288, so it was a lot of me just piecing things together and filling in gaps.

Delta: Also backstory- I yoinked their appearance from Mercy for obvious reasons, and a good portion of their personality is just the opposite of Mercy’s so that was also easy to work out. I’m still fleshing out their earlier backstory, which has been hard because it’s all Institute nonsense, but I’ve at least got a solid idea of what they’re up to a few years before their storyline with Reed starts up.

3: How did you choose their name?

Delta’s name is in kind of a similar area as the other two- I wanted something starting with a D to coordinate with their synth designation, and I wanted something that sounded like more of an alias or nickname than an actual name. It ended up suiting them really well

13: How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

I loosely have Reed & Mercy’s storylines worked out for a few years post-canon, and have a few post-canon AUs tacked on. So their ✨official✨ storyline is they leave the Commonwealth together after wrapping up everything Mercy went there for, and they head south for D.C. That’s as far as I’ve gotten with it, they’re both drifters at that point so they can do whatever they want. As far as AUs go: I have one where they both die because of course I do. Reed’s killed by BoS remnants pretty shortly after his storyline ends, & a year or two after that Mercy goes feral from excessive radiation exposure and later dies. I’d like to play around with an AU or something where they both stay in the Commonwealth and find somewhere permanent to live, but that’d be hard to do with Reed since he’s awful and won’t settle down

I’ve played around with the idea of Delta leaving the Commonwealth and either moving to Acadia or heading West as a trader, but tbh they’re so well established there that I don’t think they’d willingly leave.

19: What is your favorite fact about your OC?

Reed: He steals Quinlan’s cat while planting explosives on the Prydwen.

Mercy: She can get really into gardening and hydroponics when she’s settled down somewhere.

Delta: They’re a stray collector, they just take in all of the sad little creatures whenever they turn up. Hence how they ended up with like 8 cats and Reed.

When y'all start dating, I think Tony (all ages) would say like "what's mine is yours!". And how could you not abuse that when it comes to... his t-shirts. And hoodies. And jackets. And he loves it! Because you look cute AND sexy in his clothes and they always end up smelling just like you after a while! He loves when you wear his clothes to bed or to just lounge around on lazy days.

That's also another reason why he loves giving you his suit jacket after galas/events. Reason number one is keeping you warm, of course - Maria raised a gentleman, ok?. But after that, it's just cause you look so adorable and sexy. Sometimes it's not even that cold, but he'll still insist on giving you his jacket - and wrapping it around you himself!

I’d so be stealing his button-ups 😩 why would I need my side of the closet when the other side has perfectly good sweaters and shirts that are even bigger and smell a little like cologne 😌 If you aren’t quite living together yet, I’m sure there will be times when he comes over and you’re just like “oh sorry, here’s a bunch of your hoodies I stole” and honestly he didn’t even notice 🤧

Tbh I low key love the whole trope of like, going to his house and for whatever reason needing something to wear, and he’s trying not to be a horn dog about seeing you in his clothes for the first time 🤭

Are you named after anyone? yeh, both my birthname and my chosen name (I do not consider the former a deadname, merely a “for special occasions” type name). My parents named all of their kids after book characters or historical people, and I went with the feeling and gave myself a name after a writer (it’s also a name belonging to a fictional character + genderqueer painter and sculptor -- it’s versatile)

When was the last time you cried? I cried watching lilo and stitch yesterday

Do you use sarcasm? I think I do, but not in a conventional sense. I simply am bad at modulating my tone of voice, so things don’t always come out as intended

Genuine question, i'm new to the RE fandom and don't understand what's wrong with Jill being blonde? could you explain to me?

I’d be happy to explain it! I clearly have a lot of thoughts and feelings on it lol

Basically in RE5, Jill is kidnapped by the main villain of the series, eugenicist Albert Wesker. He kidnaps her with no actual plan as what to do with her, he just feels entitled to essentially steal her. So when he realizes that she has a dormant version of the T Virus in her body from when she was infected and cured in Raccoon City, Wesker now sees her as a loving science experiment. Because he sucks.

Over the next 3 years, Wesker experiments on Jill, most of the time keeping her under cryostasis so she’s unconscious and essentially permanently asleep. It’s not confirmed what the actual cause of Jill’s blondeness was, but it’s implied/interpreted that Wesker’s experiments lightened Jill’s hair and skin. This looks a whole lot worse if you take the claim that Jill is part Japanese at face value (that’s still a fandom debate tbh)

Not only that, but Wesker uses a mind control drug to force Jill to do things like being a body guard for an ally he works with, fighting, attacking, and killing Wesker’s own enemies, and being Wesker’s bodyguard as well. She’s basically his attack dog, and she has no control over her free will or body, but she explicitly says in that game that her mind was aware of what her body was being forced to do. She just couldn’t stop any of it because, again, mind control drug.

So what’s wrong with Jill being blonde? Well, it’s a constant symbol/reminder of the brutal trauma she endured at the hands of a vile man who saw her as subhuman, who whitewashed her and took away all her autonomy, and as someone who likes Jill, I would very much like her to heal from all of that horrible shit. There’s no indication that Wesker’s bleaching of her hair is permanent, so I think it’d be nice for her hair to grow out back to short and brown again, symbolic of the time that has passed since that horrible period in her life and how she has grown and allowed herself to heal

I'm going to answer with both of Ash's "ships" (I use the term relationship much loosely than most people I've found out)

Under the cut because this response is QUITE long (could be longer but I'll go insane going into too much detail, I can always answer follow up questions in the future lmao)

3. Do they wear the other’s clothes? (sweatshirt, bandana, necklace, etc.)

For Ash, they are ABSOLUTELY too small compared to their partners for the other to wear their clothes. Something about them makes me want to pair them with people twice their size.

For Noi… her clothes are too caked with viscera or too feminine for them to be appealing enough for Ash to want to steal. Though they ABSOLUTELY would steal one of her hoodies (if she had one), and she would love seeing them wear such an oversized piece of clothing - I’d suppose it’s like seeing a poor tiny sickly dog wearing a child’s sweater.

ACTUALLY THROWING THIS IN AT THE VERY END Noi absolutely steals and wears Ash’s glasses and she looks so cute doing it, but every time she forgets that putting on their glasses gives her an awful headache, guaranteed.

Ash absolutely will steal Jotaro’s jacket if they can, especially because of how much attention he gives them when they do it (even if it’s negative attention); though they’ve learned the hard way to not mess with his hat unless he gives permission otherwise. If they’re in a relatively public place and Ash is melting down due to a traumatic flashback or a particularly difficult/close fight, he’ll offer his hat to hide their face in, since Ash REALLY hates it when people see them upset and it’s the way he personally calms himself down (and it keeps his shirt clean from tears and snot).

8. What happens if one of them gets sick?

I haven’t really thought about this much tbh. I’m not even sure if Noi is capable of getting sick due to her magic

Ash however would be the most overbearing caregiver - all they want is attention from other people, and with someone being sick they have a captive audience. Even someone who is clingy might find them overbearing. I’d imagine that it would get to the point where Ash gets sick themselves because they were too close for too long, and they don’t exactly care about their own health.

Jotaro has a pretty short chain for recieving affection (especially physical affection, which Ash gives a lot), especially when sick I’d imagine, he would get overstimulated quickly and kick them out for a few hours lmao

11. Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?

Ash usually hides their emotions when upset on account that they dislike asking for help (despite being attention-seeking, they want the attention on their terms), wanting to be as self-sufficient as possible; even if it leads to self-destructive behavior like substance abuse or socially isolating themself. Their partners are usually unaware enough to not be able to tell when they’re upset, unless they are literally in tears breaking down.

However, Ash is also very very good at reading peoples’ emotions, mostly so they can figure out how to gain their trust or get a rise out of them.

Noi doesn’t hide her emotions at all, and though she doesn’t get upset often she will simply find a quiet place to calm down, or cling to the first acquaintance nearby. Ash is very quick to calm her down since they don’t like seeing her upset, even if they have to come up with a lie to do so.

Jotaro is a champion at hiding negative emotions. He is already very difficult to read emotionally when he isn’t upset, but the trauma of losing so many close friends (and nearly losing family members) on his way to Egypt made this 500x worse; he would rather shut down than deal with anything that makes him feel grief, to the point he will even push away his own wife and kid if he thought it made them even remotely safer.

A large part of the reason any and all of his relationships are/would be touch and go (even with Ash, who eventually finds out about Everything) is because of this; nobody can force him to deal with his own issues, and he will often isolate himself with his work for weeks or months without warning because of this. Even though Ash tries to help him when they can, they know they can only do so much and also respect the terms of their weird relationship with who might as well just be their colleague.

12. Do they have many heated arguments? How do they smooth things over?

WHEN I TELL YOU I WAS ABOUT TO POST THIS ASK AND I SAW I SKIPPED THIS QUESTION I’ll keep it short, for my sanity.

Ash and Noi, no they don’t get into heated arguments. Noi doesn’t get pressed about ANYTHING and if it’s any kind of conversation that they can’t agree on a resolution to it’s always Ash who is walking away steaming. Things between them kind of get ignored eventually rather than resolved but it’s not nearly enough to threaten their relationship.

With Jotaro… Fffff Ash definitely has some pretty intense arguments with him, all for his sake, but he’s not really the one to get heated, he can kind of just walk away. The one time Ash forced him to talk, it got the two of them into a ton of trouble (something I’m going more into depth in another ask lmfao), and it did take them a long, long time to resolve that. Always smoothed over by short and calm apologies, sharing a drink or a smoke together and eventually talking until they both fall asleep.

14. How do their personalities compliment each other? How do they clash?

I COULD WRITE NOVELS ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT’S ALL I THINK ABOUT BUT I’LL (TRY TO) KEEP IT SHORT

So… Ash and Noi… pretty much the archetypal brains and brawn, though both of them can be impulsive and not very perceptive, leading them to get into some pretty dumb situations. Ash can’t do much by themself, because even with their uncanny ability to read and manipulate people, they don’t have much leverage; but with Noi around, she is a powerful magician, not to mention also a nearly 7 feet tall brick shithouse of a woman - even if she’s not being threatening directly, her sheer presence makes Ash much more influential, which they both LOVE and hate. Ash faced a lot of neglect when they were younger, as a social outcast, and this causes them to constantly seek attention, constantly finding ways to get people to listen to them, whether that means they talk loudly to strangers or being rude. Noi is completely oblivious to either of these things, and just generally wants to protect loved ones she sees as weak (which, Ash really hates being seen as weak).

The two don’t argue much at all, but that does lead to some issues. Ash doesn’t like dwelling on negativity, and Noi doesn’t think seriously about anything at all; sometimes Ash does get frustrated when they’re trying to describe a sensitive situation to her and she misunderstands it or doesn’t want to engage with it mentally. Noi doesn’t get upset about anything, even if something bad happens to Ash, and that irritates them (because in her mind, if anything goes wrong she can just heal or forget about it… she is a bit spoiled).

Ash and Jotaro look a bit the same visually, but both are really smart (maybe too much for their own good lmao). It’s actually quite scary how much the two match up + are foils of each other considering I did not make Ash for the purpose of pairing with him lmao. The two definitely hit it off by both being kind of isolated weirdos, for their own reasons, smoking together at work (by at work I mean they were both in graduate school lmao). Jotaro’s lack of expression and extreme tolerance of weird people combined with Ash’s uncanny ability to read emotion and being able to talk for hours without expecting conversation kind of stuck them together. They also have a lot of emotional baggage they halfway-help the other with (in a platonic, but eventually co-dependent way until Jotaro kind of cut both of them off for their own sakes). Also like, they both definitely enjoy biology more than people, this counts as a personality trait. Most importantly, they are both generally mean/rude people who don’t mean to be, they just try to do good but can’t for whatever reason.

Like I said earlier they also weirdly foil each other a lot; firstly, Ash is kind of just pathetic all around especially compared to Jotaro: physically they’re completely non-threatening, they’re not as easy on the eyes, they had a hard time economically due to getting kicked out of the house at 18 and living in a van for a few years, and even when they get a Stand it’s almost completely useless… and Ash really doesn’t like being seen as helpless, but it’s hard for them to NOT seem that way with such juxtaposition (really all they have over him is they don’t have an estranged wife and kid lmfao). Also, as I said earlier, Ash is just an affectionate, impulsive person while Jotaro is very much not, not that he actually minds touch that much as long as it is mindful (and if he doesn’t want to be touched, he gently swats Ash’s hands away, and they don’t take it personally) but if Ash wants attention they kind of just have to find some way to get it.

I could maybe go into more detail about both but I might go insane talking about it at length, lmao.

47. Does either of them have a secret that could potentially ruin their relationship?

Ohhhh yeah OHHHH YEAH.

The entire point of Ash’s character (at least, original Ash. They were originally made to be a Dorohedoro self insert lmao) is that they are a human who’s pretending to be a sorcerer in order to study them - to the point they surgically mutilate themself just so they can run a miniature lighter through their arm out their finger, in order to masquerade as a fire magician. However… Noi is a very, very oblivious and short-sighted person (maybe even literally, it wouldn’t surprise me), and Ash is able to have a close and happy (platonic) relationship with her despite being human.

Eventually when the two start crossing certain boundaries, Ash considers how much longer they can, or should, keep up the facade (possibly the first time they consider their morals regarding their relationships with other people). Noi works right under one of the most powerful sorcerers, she could easily get away with so much if this lie made her upset. I wonder how it turns out for them :)

58. Who’s more likely to hold a grudge after an argument?

I haven’t thought much about this, since I don’t really hold grudges much IRL, but I think Ash would be a bit petty after an argument. They definitely want closure and some sort of acknowledgement or apology afterwards (if it’s with someone they care about that is: they piss off strangers all the time and don’t fuckin’ care). I don’t think it would be something they would milk for attention (again: they want attention, but only if it’s entirely on their own terms), and they don’t really enjoy dwelling on negative things… but they’re still kind of an annoying bitch about arguments sometimes, maybe even in a playful or obnoxious way.

Noi straight up would never hold a grudge. She greets people joyfully even if said person tried to kill her previously. These ask prompts are making me realize she’s a very simple, straightforward character and I’m okay with that lmao. I don’t even know if Ash COULD hold a grudge against her, she’s too peppy about everything for them to stay mad at (maybe to both of their detriment???).

Jotaro doesn’t really… hold grudges, but he is very bad at apologizing; not because he’s an asshole (well, sometimes he is), he’s just really REALLY bad with words, especially under pressure. He’ll especially be bad apologizing if someone’s accusing him of something he didn’t do or had no control over (which especially pisses him off), it might take him an extra long time to formulate what he wants to say as to not say the wrong thing. If Jotaro hasn’t settled stuff with someone and he sees them he is leaving that situation so god damn fast he will come up with any excuse to not deal with that until he’s ready. Ash used to be VERY insistent and annoying about getting him to talk things out with them ASAP, but then learned (the hard way) that it will just make things way worse if they rush things along.

okay, so i finished the untamed AND found some posts on the differences between the novel, so here’s my thoughts overall in bulletpoints:

wei wuxian: certainly a character of all time

i want to hit the author of the novel with my car. hard. fucking weirdo

while at times some of the development with LWJ/WWX felt a bit told to me, not shown to me, i really like how its expressed (and am glad i didn’t get what was in the novel, tbh) and i actually liked their ending?? tho i see its controversial

that said i wish lan wangji was developed more which relates to--

i think everyone’s characterization/development paths were a looot more interesting in the flashback? outside of jiang cheng who really did develop more into a complex character who i really can’t gather my feelings onto

i actually by what i said before, in many ways, it think i’d be content with viewing this series through the lens of everything ending with WWX’s death and no resurrection--i think the story stands more strongly as a tragedy than the sort of vague mystery it becomes post resurrection

THAT SAID if the story had explored more of the emotions and actual dynamics post resurrection more, i’d probably change my mind? i think the pacing got REALLY fucked by focusing on so many side stories (i really did not think we needed to know about xiao/song/a qing/xue) and in trying to churn all those out, it’s like “oh, yeah, everyone just accepts wei is back because he’s useful in solving what is going on”

yes i also understand that’s the point, that the whims of who is “evil” and who is “right” change easily, but it felt emotionally hollow at times

rly a pacing issue and how everyone seemed less complex in part 2

i did not care about jin guangyao and i think so much of his backstory was just... stupid? i understand he’s meant to be a foil to wwx but the oops incest thing was weird, the whole thing about why they had to kill their son was worse (and ableist and gross, even if that was teh intent), and as fucking OBVIOUS as they made he’s backhandedness early in the series, the heel turn still felt too sudden? lik ehe just gave up, trauma dumped, and died. like bro you’ve been at this like 20 years??

and i know his relationship with lwj’s brother is also meant to be a foil to lwj/wwx but...... it didn’t work

also why does this show hate women? i know its because the author was a fujo but like... i DO love a lot of the female characters but the way they are sidelined is embarrassinggggggggg

OKAY THIS SOUNDS HATERIFIC I GOTTA GET BACK TO THINGS I LIKED

loved that so much of this show focused on music

i love what it has to say about rules and conformity, that even the most sensible rules must be questioned and challenged in how they are enforced. “do not befriend the devil” makes sense on paper but who is the devil? who decides that? who is society prone to demonizing and how can sensible rules lead to senseless violence?

like... what does justice actually look like? is it vengeance? or is it looking past your own hurt and seeing a bigger picture?

and i love that the story ends with an understanding that the Big Bad being taken out doesn’t mean justice is served

BRO wwx telling lwj that he’d be glad to die by his hand... that’s the content i love. on that end... enemies to enemies (?) to friends to lovers... muah muah

beautiful cinematography ic an see where all the budget went so ic an forgive some of the special effects looking... the way they did (That fuckign demon dog LMAO)

all in all i had a great time even tho i think the last ~10 episodes kind of got a bit muddled, the ending was worth it 4/5

wait also i want to hit lwj’s dad with a car too, i’m glad that the story KIND Of frames his story as complicated rather than fully romanticizing it but no i’m hitting him with my car, stealing someone else’s car, and hitting him again with that car too

i’m probably not consuming any of the other adaptions outside of gifs unless anyone can HEAVILY recommend them and promise me none of the weird shit is included

like beyond the consent issues (putting it lightly) why do they break so many bath tubs at a certain point that’s just weird like what’s going on there what fetish is that catering to. die for that.

okay and i promise outside of maybe anotehr couple musing here or there, my untamed posting is going on the main, so don’t be scared off
