just screamed over your fem todobaku it was endlessly entertaining and I’m sure to be rereading it every two weeks from now on... the way katsuki pieces things together and the absurd setting is everything I wanted and more TT!!! For prompts.. tdbk’s relationship in the eyes of their classmates? That moment in a prev fic where momo is like yeah I’m with jirou now 🤗n then tdrk goes oh me too but w bkg is forever embedded into my brain lmfaooo like what does everyone make of this insane pair

pftttttt glad it fulfilled your expectations anon i love writing half-serious todobaku pieces where they are still 50/50 strategic geniuses and emotional morons as per canon but the setting is increasingly absurd. i don't know what the context was for giant deku in that sketch but the visual was too good. date-crasher deku at it again.

as for ur prompt i do love the concept bc i live for third party pov content but i would find it v hard to get done in the prompt format bc 1) honestly a lot of the 1A students (etc) don’t have very defined personalities lol and 2) when it comes to those who do i have too much to say to do this in an hour. however i can give you some bulletpoint summaries of the BNOCs (and if you have any specific niche classmates whose take you want do let me know). with that being said...

kirishima: forever and always a supportive bestie and thus leader of the todobaku fanclub. i mean just read my fic yknow. 1000% called it on bakugous side first (and/or bakugou told him) and has been enthusiastically supportive ever since. hes a big ol romantic really and also unironically thinks todobaku is the manliest of pairings (and totally made for each other, bro!!) so hes beyond stoked when they do get together. hes one of their most comfy third wheels bc he and bakugou r very close and he and todoroki r also good friends so no one is like on uncomfortable/uneven footing and hes unfazed by the ups and downs of their relationship bc hes used to both of their antics. the secret-keeper.

i don’t have enough separate intel on the rest of the bakusquad but they’re 1) completely thrown by the revelation that after years of wheedling and trying to set bakugou up into surprise dates he is not in fact ‘work-sexual’, and to top this off is actually into todoroki of all people 2) obnoxiously supportive, as you would expect. secretly they’re all kind of defensive of bakugou’s fragile heart (citation needed) and so nervous about how the whole thing is gonna work out but when it becomes apparent todoroki does not have better sense they relax and just become excessively nosy. like to complain that bakugou and todoroki weren’t content dominating their year academically and professionally they also had to steal out 2 of the country’s most eligible bachelors, the selfish bastards.

camie: second leader of the todobaku fanclub, idc. clocks it ahead of literally anyone else in their friend group bc she just, like, got that vibe, you know? theres a multitude of equally blunt and inappropriate ways in which she addresses this vibe (calling them out in person when theyre years away from it, trying to not especially artfully orchestrate a get-together, etc) and they are all very unsuccessful. shes ‘lowkey mad bakugou stole her potential man’ but ‘finders keepers’ so once they’re past that she’s all for it since she correctly thinks they r freaks best suited to e/o and also honestly probably thinks bl is cute or something. todoroki and bakugou both endure her encouragement very long-sufferingly. big double dater energy.

yaoyorozu: not at all in the first to clock gang, bc honestly the idea she has of todoroki is still a lil idealized/inaccurate and certainly does not involve dating bakugou; the initial reveal is inevitably delivered very casually to her as she scrambles for a polite reaction. she’s kind of wary of the whole thing at face value but close scrutiny leads her to conclude they’re actually not-terrible together. upon reaching this conclusion she begins making earnest overtures towards a very confused bakugou bc she figures she may as well make the effort to get to know him better. i always hc her as having had a crush of some variety on todoroki at some point so theres probs a bit of wistfulness involved and also a far larger ‘nvm dodged that bullet’ energy bc todobaku r romantically a mess and a half. to her despair she is extremely weak to camie’s todobaku gossip.

uraraka: to everyone’s vague bewilderment, a secret todobaku stan from the get-go. you could say this is bc it leaves deku solidly open but honestly she just has similarly odd friendships with todoroki and bakugou and it’s like a persistent guilty thought of hers that they’re kind of well-suited somehow. she often tells todoroki he can do better just to wind bakugou up but would be the first to take bakugou’s side if he actually did. she really enjoys them together bc she finds somehow they’re easier to tease- it humanizes them both further to be weak to dumb emotions. she plays counsellor sometimes but like subtly bc she knows better than to give outright advice.

iida: completely blindsided by the information, also spends several months in the grips of insomnia convinced that both their friend group and japan are doomed given the inevitable dramatic breakup. then he spends a singular day hanging around them at work or something and realises that his imagined version of them as a couple was in fact completely off-base bc they’re just overly intense workaholics who are too single-focused to ever bother splitting up. also top 1 most likely friend to launch into a completely sincere defense of them and their relationship in response to like the laziest off-color paparazzi bait comment.

midoriya: where to begin honestly. he def gets weird vibes from them throughout the whole usual melodrama but 200% does not come to the right conclusions. when he finally gets the news broken to him (never gently) his brain breaks a little. it’s mainly the bakugou element bc kacchan is.. kacchan and like.. not necessarily fundamentally someone midoriya has ever imagined harboring human interest in another living person. also todoroki in a parallel way has always struck him as resoundingly disinterested in relationships mainly bc hes kind of above them. of course once he sets to theorising he can connect some dots to bakugous various jealousies over the years and also todorokis pretty open staring and wow he is not very good at connecting dots actually. anyways once he recovers from the shock i think theres a variety of ways in which he takes it bc honestly it is very weird that his best friend and his .. closest friend (?) who have always primarily interacted through or due to him now have this competing private relationship. regardless obv he is intensely supportive in like, the typical kind of overbearing midoriya way. i sometimes make it so its just one of those things that everyones cool with but also the details will always be something midoriya and bakugou do not want midoriya to know bc Awkward, vs other times i make him super cool w it to the extent that hes just overenthusiastic and todorokis all oh. sure. thanks :) while bakugou loses his shit. he does genuinely think they’re a really good fit upon reflexion, and since he’s best suited to knowing why he’s p much always correct in his assessments. its one of those things where each duo in the trio has the capacity of playing up the subject matter to the third party’s detriment, tho when todoroki is the third party he’s less embarrassed by bakudeku’s todobaku discourse and more enduring their various bizarre friendship rituals + the serious physical damage they usually precede.

also aizawa clocks them first and is like oh god please no this is going to take at least 5 years to implode and will age me 10 years in the process

maybe i’m just petty because of the hate i have received ‘cause i ship bakudeku and todobaku and i don’t like kr//bk at all, but i love the fact that kirishima and bakugou don’t have any important interactions since kirishima’s mini arc and that kirishima wasn’t in bakugou’s room and that bakugou didn’t thought at all about kirishima. and this is not me saying “i want bakugou’s character to revolve only around deku and/or todoroki” because this is not what i want or what i like, but seeing the kr//bks understand that kirishima is not bakugou’s bff and that their relationship is not /that/ important and that kirishima and bakugou aren’t romantically endgame (but kirimina surely is) give me a sense of peace and i’m genuinely happy about this. also i loved mineta interactions with bakugou in this chapter and that bakugou’s has a lot of people who care about him. i don’t want to bring ship wars but i needed this rant. sorry if i bothered you

I was not going to publish this, because:

(1) I hate ship wars, and please keep that on your blog, instead of trying to use my platform. I’m sick of hosting krbk vs bkdk. I’m here for the story, not for this.

(2) it does sound incredibly petty. I know there is a lot of bad blood between krbks and bkdks. Also, as a tdbk / multi-shipper, I don’t give a damn about it. But I can tell you that the way a significant part of the bk/dk fandom is behaving lately does no favours to the ship. As someone who used to like bk/dk quite a bit, I find the fandom (not the ship!!!, but some fans) incredibly toxic now and try to avoid most discussions sadly and am staying out of the tags. Which pains me, because I love intelligent discussion on bk/dk, i love their complex dynamic, but it gets lost in a sea of these type of takes...

(3) i personally do like bakugou’s friendship with kirishima and I do think Kiri has been an incredibly good and positive influence on bkg and would love to see more content with them (not ship, but simply as a brotp) and I just generally dislike people trying to strengthen their ship by denying the importance of other relationships. It reeks of insecurity. Also - is that really how you see Bakugou’s “after-rising” characterization? Treating someone who has been there for him all along as “not that important”... Do you even care about him as a character? Don’t you want him to be able to have friends without all the barriers and walls he puts up?

(4) Yes. kirimina is endgame, so is todomomo and izuocha. So? Canon endgame ships shouldn’t stop anyone from shipping what they want.

(5) The fact that I loved bkg interacting with mineta just shows how ready i am to see bakugou interact generally with other people and have some story and characterization apart from his atonement. Because yes that’s important and interesting, but he’s also so much more than just a repentant ex-bully.

I don’t dislike bk/dk, but I’m kind of saturated with it now after a full year of focus + the movie, and as someone who loves Bakugou as a character, I’m really hoping he’ll get chances to have rich interactions with a number of people (from the class, from pro-heroes, teachers), a good villain fight and maybe a plot focus of his own.

Also, apologies to all the wonderful bk/dk simps who are out there and who just appreciate the content they got graciously and don’t try to put down others. I know there are many of you. This rant is not directed at you obviously.

It was sometimes difficult to keep the lab clean (due to obvious circumstances, experiments made a lot of mess), and he seemed not to know how to knock on the door before entering, complaining about something here and there. But his rule book was always in hand when he gave a good scolding, and that always seemed so silly. He was used to creating rules and breaking them. And then, creating new ones.

"Those books are in the wrong order," "Are you so stupid that you can't organize those containers properly, dumbass?" The scoldings went on and on, with each unexpected visit. In any case, it looked like he was a crazy man changing his mind all the time. As a result, you organized the books and containers in such a way that he left you alone. However, the next time you received a visit from the judge (who looked more like some lazy man, in your opinion), he reorganized the books, again.

In your desperate efforts to get Bakugou into trouble, to beg him to stop, and in some way keep your job away from him, he claimed that it was merely his perfectionism attacking him, that nothing terrible had happened. According to Izuku, the blonde was just acting like that to get your attention. It's like a silly little boy picking on a girl and pulling on her hair when he's in love with her.

So collaborating with him will likely give the man what he wants, and he will stop. That's it. The perfect plan.

Only, actually, it wasn't the perfect plan. Men are greedy, and they easily give in to any pleasures given to them. As soon as you started paying attention to his advances, he only appeared even more and more. Bakugou started acting like a hungry man who had been given a meal and now kept coming back for more.

Or a lazy cat, as you liked to consider him.

Of course, your submission to his crazy orders didn't last long. Too unstable, and as much as working with instability was your duty as a scientist, people were another matter. It was no use asking the Prince for anything anymore, either. If you wanted peace, work yourself against the judge and his rules of running after you like a lost dog.

In fact, you found it cute. But it was also a headache sometimes.

“Judge Bakugou, can you wait? I’m trying to work." your voice filled the abandoned laboratory, except for your figure and the impatient man.

"No, I can't wait. Tell me, asshole, why are you avoiding me?" a direct question, indeed. But it wasn't as if you had much interest in answering. "Hey, stop mixing up your crap and answer me!"

You rolled your eyes behind the goggles. While your back was turned to Katsuki, he grew less and less patient by the minute. Since running your hand over his head and being nice didn't work to get him off your back (in fact, it seemed to make things worse), you found yourself forced to ignore him once again. You didn't dislike him at all, in fact. He was tall, handsome, and consequently, a distraction. Your claim was that you hated him so much he never left the corners of your mind, always lurking in your subconscious.

A loud noise caused you to turn around after something fell against the floor. Since you ignored his question, he began throwing books off the shelves.

"What the fuck?" You shouted as you rushed to put the books back in their place. "If I answer you, will you let me work?"

Without saying a word, he simply shook his head in agreement. You sigh as you cross your arms over your chest, as if in defense.

"You're constantly after me, and you seem to be completely desperate to have me." instead of giving a real answer, you teased him. With his confused expression, you giggled. “What’s the matter? Did you think I wouldn’t notice? Your face is red. Embarrassed of getting caught?"

Your tone had a hypnotizing effect on him. He couldn’t help but think how dumb you would get with his cock deep buried in your insides. You were messing with him, but of course, after being such a brat, you just assumed he would leave you alone.

This is why it was so impressive how he got you against the wall, with a look on his face that revealed his intent. He was about to fuck your brains out, and you knew that.

Hey! So you were talking about how Deku is kinda painted too bold without a reason for it (which is fine because, you know, headcanons are just for fun). But I was wondering if after what’s currently going on in the manga, you think that maybe Deku will actually become a lot more bold/confident for real? He’s gotten pretty “feral”. I feel like maybe Bakugou might even come out the opposite way, being more reserved and unsure because he kinda failed to really help In the fight when he tried.

if you mean as matured characters (or adults), then no i don’t see deku becoming more bold than he already is. deku’s always been feral, because as awkward as he is, he’s an intense person (like bkg). the two are not mutually exclusive, which i find fascinating that the fandom can’t seem to grasp.

deku’s intensity is directly linked to why all might chose him to inherit ofa, and i would say it’s ultimately an asset to him. however, his growth is not oriented around embracing it. it’s actually the opposite, deku has to learn self-control and self-preservation in order for his intensity to be useful to him, as right now it’s purely self-destructive. it’s why his spirals into blind rage/determination are so unsettling. it’s not a good thing and isn’t supposed to be.

mature, healthy deku is someone who is assured in his own self-worth independent of other people. he’s able to recognize when he’s mistreating himself, physically or otherwise, and sees the value in prioritizing his well-being (again, physically or otherwise). he can separate himself from his emotions and examine them rationally to make his decisions instead of being hijacked by them and acting purely on impulse.

if you choose to interpret this as him becoming bolder in his natural disposition, i mean go ahead hcs are for fun, like you said. but from the perspective of canon and just normal logic, deku’s general demeanor doesn’t need to change much for this growth to occur. he could become less apologetic, but his floundering in weird social interactions is part of his charm. (it’s also worth noting that he’s an everyman hero, so his personality staying relatable surface-level is kinda the point.) the change only needs to happen if you want to hc it.

inversely bakugo’s personality inherently has to transform for him to be achieve his growth. emotionally he is basically still a kid in canon, and now that he’s got a grip on the selfless aspect of being a hero he needs to master his own emotions. but he doesn’t need to learn self-restraint like deku, he needs to learn to process his feelings (eg without using violence), and interact with people. he has a self-destructive streak too, but it doesn’t rely on his raw emotional impulses hijacking his in-the-moment judgement. i talk more abt how i see healthy bkg’s personality/demeanor here.

but if you mean immediately after this arc i’m gonna have to solidly say that if bakugo feels inept or ashamed of his “lack” of contribution to the battle at all (which i doubt), it’s just going to fuel him in his determination to get better and stronger. this is probably not gonna be what’s on his mind tho bc i’m pretty sure he lost his quirk & that’s gonna be just a wee bit stressful for him lmao

If I were to give you 3 kins: Kiri, Deku, & Sero. Kiri for his personality and the way he has this lowkey flirty/mean streak. It’s very lowkey in canon but I do see it. (That one time Bakugou threatened to beat the lessons into his skull). Also Kirishima’s way to bravely tease Bakugou. I feel like you react like that when your boyfriend starts being a Bakugou to you. Also the way he is with Monoma gives me how you are with people you don’t like. You also have a very red esque aesthetic that gives Kirishima vibes. Finally I feel like (I’m so sorry for this if it’s a drag) you also have some of his insecurities.

Deku because he’s sweet and like anon said, about the way your blog is & how katsuki focus it is. Deku would definitely make a bakugou fan page, I believe it. Very much like how note taking and analyzing Deku is. I feel like you are also the type to have a notebook of people’s weaknesses. I also feel like you can sometimes be awkward like our boy, and accidentally charming when you aren’t being charming on purpose. Finally I’m sure there was a Uraraka/Bakugou in your life that you got flustered just like him.

Oh and Sero! Cause I don’t knowww. I don’t know why I imagine Sero is one of the few of the Bakusquad that actually has decent game. He’s the smoothest talker, and the calmest walker. There’s a swagger to him. And he’s scary in a sexy unsuspecting way compared to his more feral friends, despite him being the tallest. He also gives me very Dad!Friend Vibes. While Bakugou is the mom, he’s definitely the cool Dad. Very supportive and chill and make sure you’re alive. But also kind of stupid about it. I don’t know how to explain it. I think he AND YOU would definitely laugh at Dad jokes for sure. He’s also kind of ran through me thinks. Not to say you’re ran through just - 😭 you’ve been out there. And we all respect it! Just like the Bakusquad respects it. Except for Bakugou. Sero being ran through makes Bakugou snippy for reasons he’d rather explode than explain. But Sero is the type to push him to find out. Also your reader persona.. very often gives the chill vibes of Sero. Very charming and sexy and sleepy. Honorable mentions: Shinsou.

Like I didn't like him for the fact that what he did just was shoved to the side and never talked about to begin with. Then I came into the fandom and I was like "!!??!!??" like people are not only doing what canon has done and forgotten what he did, but now they are literally shipping them together? And thinking he's "soft boi" and he has drastically changed and made up for what he did? Like where

He no longer physically attacks Izuku outside of training (besides bk v dk #2 and finals), but that doesn't mean that he's learned right from wrong. He just realizes in bk v dk #1 that Izuku won't put up with his violent outbursts anymore and also sees that he is not the only one to have a powerful quirk in 1-A. Izuku also changes by being able to gain actual friends and not the toxic and abusive one he had with bkg so he breaks away from

I definitely think this can all be indications of how important it is to consider the humanity of those you interact with, and how that takes priority over the... dignity??? the perception (I dunno what I’m trying to say) of a fictional character. more often than not, I think bakugou is a shitty person; I think it’s shitty to ship him with his abuse victim (of ten-ish years); I don’t really understand where most people are coming from with their Very Positive feelings towards bakugou, and I will rant and rave about that on my blog for as long as it bother me because that’s my space to do that.

HOWEVER, what’s more important to me than my dislike of bakugou, is the well-being of the people I interact with while talking about his character. I would never send bakustans hate, regardless of how much we disagree with each other; I may get sassy with rude anons, but I never aim to harm anyone because... like, it’s bakugou lmao. he’s not real. so, in that same sense, I wish people were a bit kinder on the other side of things too. you can like bakugou/bakudeku if that’s really what you’re into, but there’s no real reason to be hateful or send death threats to someone just because they disagree with you over a ship/anime character. those things aren’t that important and, like you brought up, plenty of people see the characteristics of those who have hurt them in real life in bakugou, so it’s not always a matter of just fighting over (dis)liking a character for the fuck of it (and I understand that the same can be said for those who do like him. there are understandable qualities that people may identify with, but I think that’s all the more reason to approach and treat those who disagree with you how you want to be treated).

If you don’t stan Midoriya what are you DOING he is so GOOD the core of his character is just. CARING about every person he comes across & trying to HELP them even though most of the people he’s encountered before yuuei had been real nasty to him like he could’ve given up! He could’ve said “you’ve never cared about me so why should I care about you” & turned his back on the world, used his talents for himself or even become a villain (like. My dude has plenty of motive I don’t even think I’d blame him) but he DIDN’T he tries SO HARD he just wants to be able to help people!

“But he‘a a crybaby :/” And?!?! First of all being in touch with your emotions enough to cry isn’t a bad thing!!! Second of all he’s been through a lot and is constantly under so much pressure god forbid he cry a little bit!!

His idol crushed his dreams! & yet he didn’t harbor any ill will toward all might and he still acted & ended up helping save bakugou (& then got SCOLDED FOR IT WTF. Like the pro heroes were all like “you could’ve died!” but they weren’t doing anything!!! Bkg would be dead if Midoriya hadn’t intervened and he got YELLED AT FOR IT. the disrespect is astronomical). He cares about people so much even when they’ve given him nothing but reasons he SHOULDN’T care about them but because he’s so good (and stubborn lmao) he cares about them anyway!! If I was bullied for 10 years I sure as hell wouldn’t care about my bully but because Midoriya’s a literal angel he still does?!?! Like wtf. He’s just so good!

& the most irritating part is that because of aforementioned 10 years of bullying and being let down by everyone (even his mother which while Inko is a great mother & loves Izuku so much she did screw up by not believing in him) he has like no self worth and doesn’t realize how amazing he is?!? He breaks his bones CONSTANTLY bc he doesn’t care about the cost to himself as long as he can save other people he literally doesn’t rlly care if he dies like when he was being killed by muscular he was scared but his thoughts were “sorry Kota, sorry all might, sorry mom” he was more worried about “letting people down” than the fact he was dying!! He only stopped breaking his bones bc he was told that if he did it again he’d permanently damage his arms which would make it rlly hard for him to be a hero like he didn’t even consider using his quirk in other ways before then even when he was constantly in pain from shattering the hell out of his bones!! He was just like “it’s working I’m saving people who cares if I’m in immense pain every time I activate my quirk that’s fine” like holy sh*t kid please care about yourself more!! In the sports festival he broke the bones in his hand TWICE OVER for someone he’d hardly ever spoken to!! Like please PLEASE get some self worth you finally have real friends they can help you! You don’t have to do everything alone PLEASE let them help you!

Also he’s so smart?! Not just book smart (even though he scored fourth in the class on midterms so he’s obviously that too) but he’s super observant and has crazy analyses on ppls quirks and beyond quirk observation he’s really good at observing people too?! He analysed that the slime villain’s weak spot was probably its eyes & threw the backpack at it startling it enough that it temporarily retreated? He observed Bkg enough that he knew exactly how he’d act in the battle trial and devised a plan to help them win (which btw was NOT SAFE FOR HIM AT ALL & HE KNEW THAT & HE DIDNT CARE AS LONG AS HE COULD HELP THEIR TEAM WIN, another point re: last paragraph) & when he found out that Uraraka didn’t have anything that she could float to combat Iida with, he improvised by punching thru the building so that Uraraka had rubble she could use against Iida & he thought of that while in the middle of fighting Bakugou like!!! He! Is! So! Smart!!! He managed to hit the nail on the head about exactly what Todoroki needed to hear during their sports festival fight & made him remember that he could be his own kind of hero & that he wasn’t his father! He figured out the fake Uraraka wasn’t Uraraka at all just bc he KNOWS her and believes in her!!! He figured out some of mirio’s strategy while he was completely wiping the floor with the rest of 1a and so figured out where he’d pop up & tho he didn’t win that fight he did last longer than the rest of his class had! He figured out that he could use Eri’s quirk to CONTINUOUSLY SHATTER & HEAL HIS OWN BONES (again he has NO self preservation and I am sad for him) so that he could fight with 100% of his power and hold on to Eri without being rewound out of existence & traumatizing her further & ALSO TOLD HER THAT HER QUIRK IS A BLESSING! I haven’t rlly gotten farther than that in the anime and I don’t read the manga but I KNOW I’m forgetting things but POINT IS he’s really freaking smart which is another thing that makes him so interesting to watch!! Like how many characters do you know that r both really smart & really kind the stereotype seems to be one of the other but bc Midoriya’s awesome like that he’s both!!

ALSO something else I rlly like about him is that he’s kind and cares about people but when someone hurts a person he cares about he gets MAD & will do whatever he needs to do. He was scared of Bkg but when he implied Midoriya gave Uraraka her plan, he snapped at him & was like “it’s her plan not mine you better respect her strength she did this not me!” He was also scared of End**v*r (I don’t blame him! The guy’s freakishly tall, literally covered in fire, and always angry!) but as soon as he insinuated Todoroki was just his pawn or smth Midoriya TOLD HIM OFF he was like “Todoroki’s not you also f*ck you I hate you” (ok the last part is a lil exaggerated but still). When muscular was threatening Kota? He went FERAL & used 1,000,000% of his power (which. How tf is that even possible but I digress good for you Midoriya ily) to beat him just so this little kid (who literally punched him in the balls earlier) wouldn’t die like he was MAD mad. And when he found out what Ov*rh**l was doing to Eri? I thought I’d seen feral before but HOLY SH*T. He literally tried to KILL HIM (good for Midoriya. Child abusers & transphobes have no f*cking rights) he tried to stab him with that sharp piece of rock & THEN he did 100% full cowling with that absolutely chilling expression like he’s so kind but there was NO trace of kindness on his face while he was fighting Ov*rh**l (good he doesn’t deserve it).

ANYWAYS ALL THIS TO SAY Midoriya is so smart and so strong and so genuinely kind & I love him & I wish he’d love himself bc he deserves it! I’m glad 1a cares abt him so much bc it’s!!! What!!! He!!! Deserves!!! Stan Midoriya ok rant over bye

Edit: ok wait rant not QUITE over I’ve got one more thing: with Uraraka’s help he took a childhood nickname that he always HATED (like he specifically says that in the story don’t y’all try to downplay how much it hurt him) & completely changed the meaning. He even made it his HERO NAME he was like “this isn’t gonna hurt me anymore I’ll make it into something I can be proud of” and like. Even tho I don’t like the nickname and refuse to refer to Midoriya with it unless I’m specifically talking about his hero persona, THE POWER THAT HAS. Once he realized that he wasn’t alone anymore he just DECIDED to take something that had hurt him in the past & turn it not something that could comfort people in the future (bc we KNOW that he’s gonna b the no 1 hero & ppl r gonna be comforted at hearing he’s on the scene). He did that. I’m so proud of him.

ITS OKAY ANON🌸❤ I worry abt the same thing! Tho I've been genuinely analyzing krbk these few days so allow me to give u a lengthy response where I'll try to encourage u to have a bit more faith!

Mina as a love interest doesn't make much sense to me. I don't think its a common thing to make an already introduced character a love interest later on in the series, especially since most ships/couples were paired early on in the manga (eg. Izuku/ochaco, kaminari/jiro, and bakugo/kirishima)!

Occasions where a love interest is introduced later on in a story r common when the character is brand new, and the protag has no existing romantic chemistry with other characters (eg. Simon and Nia in guren lagann) both which does not apply to kiri and mina

Kirishima has been paired with Bakugo on multiple occasions, much before Kiri's back story with Mina, and his relationship with bakugo was shown to be mutual in the red riot unbreakable scene. Kirishima specifically remembered bakugo's words of encouragement (something he never does with anyone,,, except kiri lol) and got a huge power boost. So the scene shows us that not only does Kiri value bkg's opinion, but bkg cares abt kiri's happiness/confidence too!

Meanwhile, Mina was almost like the opposite in the back story. Kirishima saw Mina's confidence and thought he was weak compared to her, and beat himself up over it. She made him feel weak and lowered his confidence (not on purpose!). Meanwhile bkg makes him feel stronger u know djjdjsjs

Now, the scene in the recent chapters where Mina says her new move was inspired by Kirishima's unbreakable seemed shippy to many people!

BUT I'M HERE TO DISPROVE THAT! Imagine you inspired someone that u once looked up to! I'd feel super proud, and that's exactly what Kiri is feeling here! He sees how far he's come and even Mina, the Almighty Brave Mina, acknowledged him! This could also be Mina being a good friend and doing that on purpose just to boost his confidence! If u recall this scene

She saw how down he was after almost losing, so its honestly in her nature to do smth nice, like make a move inspired by his!

Now, u might think that these scenes r just developments for a future romance. I have no way of knowing that, but I want to point out the faulty logic of it! The scene where Kiri is smiling at Mina because of her new move might seem shippy, but notice how there's no blush, no shiny bubbles behind them. Izuku and Ochaco had that kind of scene IN THE SAME CHAPTER as the scene with Kiri and Mina

THEYRE BOTH BLUSHING! and there's those cute bubbles behind them!! And they're also talking abt how they've improved one another!! And they've been paired since the beginning

Still not convinced it wasn’t a romantic scene? I can compare it to kaminari and jiro too! They've also been paired since the beginning of the series, and while I personally prefer Momo and Jiro, I think this is the one Horikoshi is going for.

While its not as in-your-face shippy like the izuocha moment above, u can still see the words left an impression on her. Her blush is from just embarrassment but it cld be more y'know? Anyway this is a krbk post not kmjr djjdjdkdmms

OK OK now that we have this stuff outta the way and I've hopefully given u some more faith, I also want to discuss fan-service. First off, here's a link to a twitter thread that contains almost every single krbk scene and piece of promo material, there's a loooot of stuff that indicate some sort of romantic undertone in here, and there's actually more in the manga! Specifically the unbreakable moment I already referenced

I genuinely think the second one looks more fitting but I'm biased djjfjdjdkdj, makes me wonder if there was blush in the sketches but that's a big reach

There's other tiny insignificant moments in more recent arcs, but even they show that Bakugo and Kirishima are comfy in each others company! That they're friends!

Okay okay back to fan-service! All these scenes and lil promo media with romantic undertones are fan-service. Thing is tho, I don't know how good of an idea it is to bait ur fans that much and then end up not giving them what they want. Like, example, Bakugo has been the most popular character for 4 years now. Killing him off would cause a massive outcry from the fans. This kind of thing has happened! In the bleach fandom, the popular character Byakuya was killed, but the fans were so enraged that they harassed the creator on twitter and he actually brought back the character! Now obvy I think that's terrible but it shows how harsh fans can be :/ its a bad idea to promo a ship that much and then make another one happen. Kr/mn has gotten nothing other than the scenes in the manga, soooo....

Things I Fucking LOVE About VLD S8

There’s an entire episode dedicated to Honerva’s past, showing her struggling emotions now that she’s remembering everything that’s been, showing her internal conflict and struggle, giving us a clear and deep understanding of her hurt and hate.

Baby Lotor is fucking adorable. Like look at that kid. Look at those big eyes. Oh my gosh he’s adorable.

Lotor’s past is painful and it’s exactly the sort of crap I expected. Received no affection from his father. Was pushed into a Galra empire that didn’t value mercy. Watched the place he cultivated destroyed. Exactly the sort of thing I was expecting from his past to lead to his current state of mind as we meet him in S3. It shows how he’s someone who wants to revolutionize the empire, but is someone whose mind and ideas have been clearly influenced by his culture and upbringing.

I like how the robeasts have been developed throughout the series. How they clearly evoke the past ideas from DOTU/BKG of turning biological creatures into mechanized weapons. How the first season starts with Voltron doing lots of single episodes one-on-one fighting the robeasts, akin to the 1980s show. How the robeasts grow into an increasingly great problem by S8, and are now piloted by brainwashed Alteans. It’s a legitimately cool progression and makes the robeasts feel like a threat even while not repeating the same episode format over and over.

So many Altean warrior ladies on the forefront of Honerva’s forces.

“The Prisoner’s Dilemma” is a fan-fucking-tastic episode all around. One of my favorites for this season for sure.

It starts with Voltron, the ATLAS, the rebels, and the MFEs working together to take down a base. This is an amazing fight moment. It’s showing how far everyone has come since the start, how much they’ve grown, and it sings. And it’s showing REALLY cool team coordination. This is like. All around epically cool I fucking love it.

Matt Holt and his ponytail <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I love how this episode focuses on trying to end the Galra Empire’s remaining power but also trying to show mercy to the Galra. I love how it shows a Galra leader who’s had help from Voltron before still being doubtful - and how more acts from Voltron bring him around. It takes time to convince someone who’s been part of the Galra Empire that Voltron is okay to ally with - and it shows how the Voltron Coalition is gaining ground.

There is some serious nice creepy tension in this episode.

KEITH BLASTING THROUGH THE DOOR WITH EPIC BIG GUN!

I love how Lance’s characterization feels like they took him and turned him more into his DOTU self over the course of the series. Honestly, as with all of them! The characters grow into those positions and selves.

“Battle Scars” is probably the episode that got me the most emotional. Olkarion is a planet and culture I loved, too. Watching it fall - watching that beautiful planet actually get destroyed along with many of its citizens - was painful. This is a good way to show Honerva’s power and the high-stakes dangers of her actions.

The idea of Pidge watching the past to learn what happened was a cool narrative effect, and also had good long-term story arc development since she learned how to track the robeasts, too.

Also amazingly good lesson / theme for that episode.

“The Grudge” is another cool episode that’s got the unique twist of the Paladins relying not on their typical weapons, but on having to be resourceful with the minimum. Another good, original premise.

Acxa and Veronica. Acxa and Veronica. Oh my gosh Acxa and Veronica. Acxa and the rest of the MFEs. Acxa and the humans. It’s so great. Acxa saying everything and it’s coming out SUPER edge-lord and everyone’s trying to figure out how to handle it.

I fucking love Ina Leifsdottir. I love her personality so much. And I’m 99% sure the writers intended her as autistic representation and I think they did a good job with her.

Okay but this season really has a lot of fun with the MFEs. They don’t steal the show and take too much time, but we get a GREAT sense of personality from them. Rizavi and Kincade together is a delightful combo. I love her energy and love of action. I love his nerdy passions. They’re so fun.

Let’s be real: one thing Voltron does consistently well is that, no matter how much screen time we have with a character, we get a GREAT sense of their personality, and we love them. There are so many different, lovable, often quirky personalities in Voltron. It’s so rich with its character personalities. I love how there’s a broad cast of characters and yet I can still connect to them all.

I appreciate how S8 wrapped up the story of Lotor’s generals. It would have been easy to have them die, just be casualties, and not have them or their narrative go anywhere. Instead, we get a wrap-up. They’ve been through a lot of twists, turns, and confusing life choices. Now they finally find a place. I like that Lotor’s team (who followed a man who was extremely misguided but wanted some good things) ended up being able to find a productive cause in the end.

SPACE GALRA LESBIANS RETURN!

I honestly love the dynamic of ATLAS + Voltron. The Castle of Lions is really cool and I felt extremely sad and nostalgic when they lost it. But ATLAS + Voltron has a legitimately awesome sci-fi, mission-oriented dynamic. The Castle of Lions felt like there was always a home, whereas ATLAS gives the sense of being in space on a journey and mission. It gives me Vehicle Force Voltron vibes, ESPECIALLY with the inclusion of the MFEs.

Speaking of the 80s show and retro Voltron references, we got Merla!

This season focuses a bloody fuckton on Allura, but it shows a lot of depth and conflicted thoughts with her. It shows her as a woman of power. It shows her as someone tempted with problematic solutions or darker powers. It shows her loving, being loved, finding family, and marching ever-steady onward with her purpose. There’s a lot of complex psychology with how Allura’s handling these latest events and it’s written in a way we can understand exactly why she’s making the choices she does, good and bad.

“One... two... three... ALUMINUM!”

I love how Sam Holt overall gives Slav good respect for his more “superstitious”-esque approaches to things, and also valuing Slav for his powerful mind and abilities.

Lots of things from earlier seasons get remembered - Olkarion, Slav, Matt Holt, Shay, the Balmera, and more - and continue to play out in the final conflicts.

I legitimately love seeing Voltron team up with ATLAS in its transformed form. Shiro and Keith working completely equally. Keith’s become a fully-fledged leader. Shiro’s got hoards of respect and leadership power. Together everyone coordinates and kicks butt.

HOW have I not mentioned the visuals yet in this season? This was the most colorful and visually appealing season in Voltron YET - and we’ve been given season after season of really beautiful images. I love how, even though Voltron is set in SPACE, which is so full of voidness, we get so much color and light and appealing color pallets. Voltron is a visual delight.

“Day Forty-Seven” has got to be one of my favorite episodes of this season, if not a stand-out for the entire series to me. Some people might feel differently about this episode than me, but I honestly find it so unique and fun. It’s legitimately hard to try to write an episode following one camera for twenty minutes, while also telling a coherent story. And yet it DOES. We get a good narrative - while at the same time it feels so REAL. “Day Forty-Seven” gives us the ability to watch the entire ATLAS crew work, and allows us to watch Voltron from an outsider’s perspective as they go on dangerous missions - without the music, fanfare, camera angles, etc. And it’s so amusing getting everything from a dog carrying a camera around to Rizavi being upset that yeast is part of the documentary. And it shows so many characters and character dynamics and a sense of a full crew where everyone knows each other. And Rizavi and Kincade together are such a DELIGHT. And oh my goodness I could gush incoherently about this episode for a long time. It’s so much fun.

Keith and Hunk stuck on a musical ride. Love it.

Epic arm wrestling competition is epic. And I love how it all started because Shiro felt abashed being called “old.” Poor guy’s still in his 20s! And I love how it turned into all of Team Voltron CELEBRATING THE FUCK out of Shiro winning. Like, these guys have fought countless dangerous foes across the universe. And these dorks get over-the-top excited at Shiro’s accomplishment of winning an arm wrestling competition at a fair.

I laughed so hard at the Warden talking about how he found a purpose in arm wrestling.

The Voltron team joining up with the original Voltron team was pretty cool. I also love how it was animated where we would see the original Team branching off like apparitions out of Voltron, or how we’d see the pilots in the cockpit fading from one to the other.

Allura and Alfor reunion!!! I think this was done right. I am not a fan of stories where a character seems to lose someone, only for that person to magically be brought back. In this case, given the location of where Allura and Alfor unite, we know they’re not going to be able to resume a life of father and daughter. It’s a temporary reunion, and it happens a VERY LONG time after we’ve suffered through all of Allura’s pain in VLD about leaving Alfor behind. It doesn’t compromise the integrity of all the seasons that have come before it about their loss of Alfor and the Alteans, but it also gives us a touching moment of Allura seeing someone she’d never thought she’d see again.

VLD S8 shows that people aren’t cut-and-dry “always evil.” It shows how it’s a complex combination of your environment and your choice. Zarkon isn’t someone who is innately evil pure and simple, nor is Honerva, nor is Lotor. It also makes sure to remind us of the power of choice. Zarkon and Honerva also aren’t JUST victims of the entity - S8 reminds us that they pursued quintessence and poor choices that led to further bad consequences, too. And just because someone might not have been a villain with alternate choices, and just because someone DID become a villain... S8 reminds us that they still took this particular path. It doesn’t erase that Lotor might have wanted to make some positive differences, but turned into a villain. It looks at the complexity of people, how they have both goodness and badness within their potentials. And... it lets it be shown that just because you make a bunch of bad decisions doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to leave those choices and turn around. People aren’t “just evil.”

How have I not yet mentioned I love the uniforms that the Paladins wear when they’re not in their Lions?

THE ATLAS-VOLTRON FUSION. THE ATLAS-VOLTRON FUSION. THE ATLAS-VOLTRON FUSION. THAT IS AWESOME AS FUCK!

The S3 idea of alternate realities gets brought back in QUITE the way as Voltron chases Honerva through many realities.

I appreciate how Honerva spends so much time trying to find the perfect reality... and when she thinks she’s found it, it doesn’t do what she wants. It’s exactly what we would respect she’d reap. You can’t just tear across space and time to find happiness. At the same time, we can also feel her pain.

Okay but Honera? I love her armor in this season too. Man I just. Love lots of what people wear this season.

I love Allura’s send-off. I love that the stakes got so high in VLD that we had to lose a main character, but not in a way that felt like a painful death. I love that Voltron was willing to give us a concrete ending where there’s no “going back” to the way things were before. I love that they still give us a sense of hope and growth even with the hurt of losing a main character. I love how it takes Allura, who always had such a strong sense of responsibility, and act on that responsibility in the most responsible and selfless choice possible. I love that she got to embrace every Paladin and say how much they mean to her. I love that they cried. I love how this was done. That’s a proper send-off, one filled with heroicism and selflessness and responsibility and power and strength and emotional pain and also a sense of HOPE.

There are some fucking powerful quotes this season.

I love how we got Altean Lance? Like honestly, when I first heard fans theorizing about it, I thought it was wishful fantasy and the typical desire for AU characters. But the way this was incorporated into VLD actually in canon was really cool.

I love seeing Pidge create Chip. DOTU REFERENCE!!!!!

I love how the Galra Empire has been shown fracturing for seasons, and how it’s finally come to a point Keith can naturally talk about needing change - and it’s believable to think that the Galra would now be open to this change happening.

I love seeing the entire team together after everything’s ended.

I love how in S2 characters talked about defeating the Galra Empire would mean that Voltron was no longer needed. I love how the writers stick with that. I love how the Paladins choose to retire from being Paladins, but intentionally go forth to make the universe a brighter place - there’s still so much to do. I love how the lions themselves choose to fly away.

I love seeing their selfies. I love that they intentionally make sure Allura’s in their Paladin team reunion selfies. I love seeing how the characters age.

I love how Keith’s hair just keeps growing.

I love that ENORMOUS fucking Vehicle Force Voltron reference with the Holts! Holy crap! I’m actually seeing characters like Cliff and Wolo in the background!!! And given the premise of Vehicle Force Voltron seeking out a new planet after humanity has contacted alien civilizations, it feels entirely fitting that this is how Vehicle Force Voltron gets incorporated into the VLD timeline.

I love how the Holts, such a POWERFULLY BRILLIANT family, are the people who keep exploring technology and build the next round of Legendary Defenders.

I love seeing how Hunk’s passion for cooking isn’t treated as trivial. It’s treated as a means of creating intergalactic peace and happiness. He uses it as a way to treat the Alteans with kindness when they’re prisoners on the ATLAS. He uses it to create a culinary revolution after Honerva’s defeated. Hunk is revolutionizing society and making an enormous positive difference because of his passion. That’s majorly epically awesome like fuck I LOVE it.

I love everyone’s endings, honestly. I love how Lance chooses a quieter ending. He wanted a lot of glory as a fighter pilot at the start of VLD S1. He grows into someone so much more mature. Now he’s someone who understands he’s impacted the universe. He’s willing to talk to Alteans at school and spread positive messages with the people in his life. But he’s also taking quiet time for himself. The homesick boy from the early seasons isn’t feeling that more - he has a concrete embedded home to return to, valuing family ever onward. And it’s all embedded in him surrounding himself in the memory of people like Allura he’s held dear. It’s bittersweet and one that happens when someone you love is gone, but it’s not a sad ending, and it’s one that will turn into a lot of happiness, peace, and meaning. This boy’s got a good ending.

I love that we even see where Krolia and Kolivan end up.

And dude. Keith continuing to work with the Blade of Marmora but turning it to humanitarian relief??? This guy’s amazing. So amazing.

I’m a Sheith shipper but I never expected a canon-concrete Sheith end game, so I’m totally happy seeing Shiro’s ending. They gave this guy the happiness he needed. This is someone who’s been trapped in war for so long. He’s had to work so hard without break because of the necessity of defending the universe. This is someone who can finally leave the battlefield and rest. Anyone who thinks for a second Shiro and Keith are any less close just because it’s not romantic is kidding themselves - their relationship shall be as pure and close and powerful and deep as always. And we get an on-screen gay kiss! An on-screen queer marriage!

This is a good ending in that it wraps up all the conflict... but it gives us a look at the hope of the future for everyone’s lives.

I’m here to spread positivity and excitement for the good Voltron Season 8 did. A show doesn’t have to be “perfect” (nothing’s perfect) to be awesome, meaningful, and enjoyable. This show has been SUCH a wonderful ride, start to finish, and I can’t be more grateful to have been an audience member for this story. It’s going to last as one of my favorite animated series of all time.

I don’t want to make everything about disliking bkg, but seriously guys, y’all do so much digging to come up with reasons, to come up with backstory, and in all honesty I’m sure that at least half of it is never intended to be that way and bkg is just a bitch. But how many other characters are just genuinely nice people that everyone ignores? just straight up ignores? like, I saw someone saying they were mad shinsou got so much attention when hatsume is so much more interesting and I raise you this; why does Bakugou get so much attention when he is, in all honesty, a real jerk at the start of everything, and there are so many other characters that people can focus on instead. like, I respect Bakugou stans, they’re the only saving grace of why I don’t completely hate the kid, but come on. I get wanting to have reasons for why he acts the way he does, and wanting to forgive him because he’s just a kid, but when it comes down to it he traumatized Izuku for ten years of his life and that’s something he can never, ever take back. And everyone waves over it like it’s nothing. To literally everyone but Class A, and even some people in Class A, he dismisses them as “extras” and nothing more. He always wins and wins and wins and he never loses, he never gets a real chance to learn, and everyone sings his praises.

i’m pretty sure that most of it is also just that kiribaku exists too. Like yes, I get it, they’re definitely in love and they’re so canon that I’m just genuinely surprised whenever people don’t see them as canon but. I think people are ignoring all the bad things he has done because of it.

I’m not saying that Bakugou is the worst, I’m not saying that he’s a villain, I’m not saying that he’s going to become the next end**vor (I would NEVER say that, Bakugou is still just a kid), I’m not saying that any depth he has doesn’t matter,

I’m saying that I am FRUSTRATED that people just wave off what he has done. I am FRUSTRATED that people seem to have forgotten it and let it go.

I was thinking about Sero having siblings which made me think about class 1a and like,, how few of them have canon siblings? & then I was like “well hmm, who has siblings in canon and who do I feel like SHOULD have siblings?” which has NOW spiraled to “whole family dynamic” so. Here’s this (note that I’m not gonna subtract people from families who already canonically exist like however much I’d like to launch End**v*r into the sun this is less “I rewrote things how I’d like them to be” and more “how many of these kids do I think should have siblings and if their parents aren’t developed what do I think they’re like”).

Midoriya: We already know he does not have siblings and tbh even if we didn’t know I’d still think he doesn’t. He absolutely has Only Child Who’s Kinda Lonely And Wanted A Sibling But Never Got One vibes. Also we know he has a single mom and a dad who’s not really in the picture (sidenote I love Inko Midoriya even though she failed Izuku in the past by not believing in him she loves her son so much and is trying her hardest to make up for it and do what’s best for him). I feel like her husband is like,,, not straight up the worst person ever like he’s not abusive but he’s not particularly interested in his family anymore?? Like he pays his child support but doesn’t make any effort to talk to his wife and son? He’d get divorced but he doesn’t want to go through the hassle of that legal process, especially since he’s living on a whole separate continent & would either have to go back to Japan for the legal proceedings or do it from there which would be challenging & he’s “far too busy” to do that

Bakugou: He doesn’t have siblings in canon but he does kinda give off Middle Child In A House With Lots Of Children vibes...that inferiority/superiority complex tho...oh either that or Oldest Child In A House With Lots Of Children vibes...but yeah consider middle child Bkg. Like...maybe 5-6 Bakugou children and he’s either smack dab in the middle or 3rd oldest depending if he has 4 or 5 siblings. Also it’s pretty obvious that Mitsuki’s not a good mom & Masaru is not rlly willing to stand up to her but unfortunately I can’t change that cause I said I wouldn’t mess with existing family members :/ maybe I shouldn’t give him more siblings after all, for their sake...

Todoroki: We know the todofam dynamic already. Tbh idk what kinda vibes he’d give me if I didn’t already know he had siblings, but since I know that he has siblings in canon it makes sense that he’s a youngest child (also sidenote I LOVE the Todorokisibs & I want them to have the time to bond and become like,,, real, close siblings. Also #givereiadivorce2k20). I hope someone yeets Endumpster out of existence one of these days...fingers crossed

Iida: It’s canon that he has a brother and it’s so sweet how much he admires and loves him Iida ily. Again it makes sense that he’s a youngest child; his need to be “worthy of” his brother’s legacy is rlly apparent, & feels like a total youngest sibling trait. Tbh if I didn’t know he had a brother I could also see him as an only child but I’m glad he has Tensei. I feel like his parents are hardworking but make sure to make time for their children as much as they can & make sure they know they’re loved. Iida kinda also considers some of the heroes/sidekicks who work at the Idaten agency family since they’ve been around so much during his childhood & he knows them pretty well. Also since Tensei is friends with Aizawa and Yamada they were definitely Tenya’s babysitters at least a couple times & around the house a lot so he considers them kinda like uncles or something

Uraraka: I know she doesn’t have siblings in canon but it feels like she should. She gives off big sister vibes. Like she’s canonically becoming a hero for her parents, and I think that would be even better if she also had siblings (all younger than her. At least 2 siblings, maybe 3). I want to see Uraraka with siblings @ Horikoshi why did you deprive us of this? Also we know her parents work hard and love her which I love I’m so glad SOMEONE in class 1a canonically has 2 good supportive parents

Tsuyu: We already know she has two siblings and yes she also has Big Sister Vibes. Don’t have much to explain abt this one, she’s just mature and dependable in like the Older Sister Specific Way (not that all older sisters are mature and dependable, just that there’s a kind of mature and dependable that directly comes from being an older sister specifically). I feel like her parents love her and her siblings & taught them to be truthful & stuff but are kinda quiet and reserved with their affection, and they’re often busy with their jobs so Tsuyu had to take on some extra responsibility caring for her siblings

Yaoyorozu: She’s an only child and yeah, it makes sense. Her parents only have one child to focus on, and as such it’s pretty obvious she feels the full pressure of their expectations, giving her pretty obvious Only Child Vibes. Although I guess you could also look at it as youngest child vibes cause I could just as easily see her having a bunch of talented successful older siblings/one Really Talented Older Sibling so she feels the pressure in following in their footsteps (think either Daphne from scooby doo mystery incorporated or Tahani Al-Jamil from the good place except she doesn’t necessarily hate/resent her siblings but is just kinda insecure about her “worth” compared to them. This is where the second guessing she suddenly displays in canon could come in - correct me if I’m wrong but she didn’t rlly show signs of second-guessing herself until the sports festival? So she’s fine in class where nobody rlly knows her but once she’s at the sports festival which is nationally televised she starts to doubt herself because her parents and sister(s) are watching & she’s like “oh no what if my sister(s) would be better than me at this” so that’s why she suddenly loses confidence). I kinda implied before but I feel like her parents are pretty strict & have high expectations for her & while they’re not needlessly cruel, they won’t tolerate less than the best

Jirou: Pretty sure she has no siblings in canon BUT she TOTALLY gives off youngest sibling vibes. I’m thinking she’d have like a cool older brother who likes to embarrass her. Her parents are pretty chill (I think that part’s kinda canon?). She has lots of older cousins who she’s pretty close with and one bad*ss lesbian aunt who’s pretty much her role model (Jirou when she was younger: I wanna be just like my aunt!!! Jirou now: ah. That’s why. I also like girls.)

Kirishima: Again I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have siblings in canon and as for whether I think he gives off sibling vibes??? I’m not entirely sure. I was gonna say I don’t think so cause like. He gives off vibes that he’d be good with siblings but doesn’t actually have them, kinda like Midoriya (but like,,,I also kinda want to give him siblings so I’m not sure). Also you know that fandom headcanon that he has 2 moms? Yeah I love that that’s canon you can’t convince me otherwise. He has 2 moms and they both love him so much & wanna support him however they can (also I kinda put a little thought into them for a fic I started writing and decided that they’re the embodiment of the tattoo parlor/flower shop au. Flower mom keeps some arrangements that are...not necessarily professional in her shop because her wife arranged them for her. Tattoo mom gives flower mom tattoos for free & they have matching tattoos that flower mom designed)

Koda: he gives me Could Have Siblings vibes as in he kinda feels like another middle child but I feel like he’s actually an only child (like he probably is in canon? I think). His parents are quiet like him but they definitely love him and he knows it. He’s really close to his grandparents (who also live with his family) as well. He also, quits predictably, has a lot of animal friends who are kind of like family to him cause they’ve been through a lot together (the Koda family household sometimes looks a little bit like a zoo because 3 people in it have talking-to-animal-related quirks)

Sato: another idk about canon but he has a little sister. I cannot tell you why I think this but he definitely has a little sister. Sato you have been diagnosed with Big Brother Energy. Also he totally has a single dad who owns a bakery which is how Sato knows how to bake so well! They’re not poor but they’re not rich and he hopes to send some of his paycheck to support his family & help his dad expand the bakery. It wasn’t the primary reason he became a hero (that was because a hero once saved his little sister from a burning building & he decided that he wanted to be able to save people like that hero had saved his sister), but he does like the benefit of the paycheck

Tokoyami: tbh my first instinct was no siblings but I think it would be really funny if he had like. 3 really preppy siblings (one older than him two younger) & he was the only goth one in his family. Or like. His dad is also goth but his mom & other siblings r super preppy. He loves them all but is very much introverted and he and his dad are closer than the rest bc they kinda bond over being less energetic. His siblings & mom don’t REALLY understand Tokoyami’s goth-ness but they love and support him anyways. His younger siblings lowkey like Dark Shadow maybe even more than him tho. Dark Shadow was pretty sad when he heard they’d be moving to the dorms because he would miss them

Kaminari: tbh I first thought he had only child vibes (he kinda does) but then I decided that he has siblings but their age gaps are pretty significant. His older sister has just gotten out of university and is working and his younger sister is like...7 maybe. His siblings both love him but the age gaps between them make it hard for them to connect sometimes. Anyways I feel like his parents are pretty neglectful & caught up in their work. They don’t really pay attention to him or his other siblings, so his older sister had to learn things like cooking and cleaning and do a lot of taking care of Kaminari and he had to help take care of his younger sister, especially after his older sister went to uni. His parents just assumed he’d come to work at their electric company but he didn’t want to do that so while he definitely wants to save people a big part of his desire to become a hero is to make real connections and prove to his parents that he’s worthy of love and attention. He took the UA exam without telling them and when they found out they would have told him no except that they figured the exposure of their son going to the top hero school in Japan would give them more business. When he moved to the dorms he missed his sisters but was glad he didn’t have to be the main caretaker of his little sister anymore (his parents hired a nanny, which they hadn’t wanted to do before because of how much money it would cost, but because they had in fact gotten more business due to Denki going to UA they had a little more money now). (The nanny and Denki’s sister became fast friends, a fact of which he was glad because it meant he wasn’t leaving her alone in an empty house. He called and visited his sister as often as possible)

Hagakure: honestly I’m pretty sure she’s an only child in canon and she DOES give off only child vibes I think...unlike Midoriya tho I don’t think she’d be particularly bothered by it? I mean I feel like she’s kinda lonely but that’s less about lack of siblings & more bc of lack of people seeing her. But her parents rlly care about her & support her however they can, & they also understand her bc they’re invisible too so they know how it feels to have to work hard to be noticed when you can’t exactly be seen

Aoyama: either both his siblings are way older than him or he’s an only child. He does not give me “is super close with his siblings” vibes. He’s definitely seen as the baby in the family and not in a “he gets away with everything & is the parents’ favorite” way in the “they think he’s kinda a failure” way. His siblings look down on him, his mom pities him because he was the only one to inherit her quirk, which hurts to use, & his dad kinda doesn’t rlly care about him one way or the other. The family gives me pretty rich vibes. Like not as rich as the Yaoyorozus/Iidas/Todorokis but still pretty rich. He went to UA mostly because he wants to get stronger both so that his mom can stop pitying/worrying about him and so that the rest of his family won’t look down on him anymore

Ojirou: l also think he has a few siblings (like...no more than 2 tho). I think younger siblings, he’s also a character with big brother energy (tho I could also see middle child Ojirou). His mom runs a dojo which is part of the reason why he’s so good at martial arts. His dad is an artist. They’re pretty close and love and respect each other. His parents were surprised but supportive when he announced he wanted to go to UA

Ashido: an only child. Her parents love her a lot & make sure she feels supported. She sometimes wishes she had siblings but not super often because she has tons of good friends (this along with Kirishima being an only child who wants siblings sometimes only makes their brotp more epic)!! Also she still keeps in close touch with her civilian friends from middle school but kinda feel disconnected from them sometimes because they’re living such different lives than her. Like they’ll talk about the latest movie and ask her if she’s seen it and she just says no and kinda laugh it off because she can’t just say “no, I wanted to but villains tried to kill my class the day we were planning to go”. She also has a hard time telling her parents that because she knows they’d be super worried about her and she really wants to be a hero!

Sero: has siblings (is somewhere in the middle) and also a huge extended family!!! Before the dorms he lived with his mom and siblings but his extended family lived really close to them and visited all the time so he’s really close to both sets of grandparents and his many aunts and uncles and little cousins (though he’s a middle child in his immediate family he’s one of the oldest cousins). Though he misses his family he sees them as often as he can, and is kinda glad for how chaotic and loud the dorms can be sometimes because it reminds him of his home

Shoji: has a little brother, a mom, and a step-dad. It took a while for him to get used to his step-dad, but it becomes clear that he really loves his family so now Shoji loves him too and is fairly close to him. Shoji’s little brother is adopted because there were complications with his mom’s pregnancy when she was having Mezo and while he turned out fine, they found out that it would be risky for his mom to attempt to get pregnant again. His little brother also has a mutation quirk (though it’s not Dupli Arms it’s Bear) and Shoji loves him more than anything else in the world. He wants to become a hero to help combat the stigma around certain mutation quirks (Gang Orca once canonically kinda addressed that that exists when he talked about how children are always afraid of him bc of how he looks) so that the world will be better for people like him and his brother. His mom and stepdad wholeheartedly support him

M*neta: Only doing this bc my brain will not shut up & is making me analyze all of 1a even the ones I don’t consider 1a. I hope he doesn’t have siblings so less people have to be exposed to his...m*neta-ness but tbh I could see him having siblings. His parents are busy and either don’t notice or don’t care what a terrible person their son is

Better purple boy who deserves a place in 1a way more than the grape Shinsou: has no siblings but gives off IMMENSE big brother vibes. Definitely grew up in the foster system (his biological mother, who was a single mother and also had a mind control quirk, became a villain because she couldn’t get hired anywhere, had no way to support her son, and was tired of being villainized by society so she was like “ok you want a villain? Bet.” When Shinsou was like 7, his mom was killed while trying to flee a crime scene. Since Shinsou had no other parent, he was then put into the foster system. Nobody adopted him because everyone thought he was going to become a villain like his mom had, and even the people who didn’t know his mom thought his quirk was “villainous”). Aizawa and Yamada are now eventually planning to adopt him. He kinda has similar vibes to Midoriya in regards to the “Only Child Who’s Kinda Lonely And Wanted A Sibling” but unlike Midoriya he would NEVER admit he wanted a sibling. “I like being alone” he insists. He is a lying liar. However as soon as he meets Eri they instantly connect & he kinda becomes like a big brother to her even tho he will deny it until Eri herself calls him her brother. When this happens he will cry even tho he will say he didn’t

How do you think Bakugo feels about Izuku choosing Deku for his hero name? Like, in meta form - BKG thoughts on the Pro-Hero name Deku.

disclaimer before I start: I don’t think anyone can ever really say for sure what Bakugou is thinking at any given time. least of all Bakugou himself, who doesn’t really understand what feelings actually are, and doesn’t know much about them in general except that they are his enemy, most days. but my point being that this is mostly just a lot of elaborate speculation on my part.

okay so first of all, when he first heard Deku announce it, I expect that he was surprised, and then confused. because from his point of view it’s a very strange decision. who the hell chooses their insulting childhood nickname as their hero moniker? we all know the story of the legendary hero Butthead*, who either lost a bet or underestimated the longevity of his funny joke (the details have been lost to the ages and are now the subject of much scholarly debate), and subsequently served as a cautionary tale to all young bros coming up through hero school and thinking of giving into peer pressure, having not yet developed the wisdom to realize that five seconds of class clown fame aren’t worth a potential lifetime of ridicule. but aside from him, the idea of someone choosing a name like “Deku” is pretty absurd. just. who does that?? for real.

*not an actual hero.

so I’m pretty sure that once the initial confusion passed, Katsuki then settled on his usual default of assuming that it must be Deku looking down on him again. because, you know. why bother listening to the actual explanation Deku gave barely two seconds later, when you could instead make a paranoid, irrational, and rather egotistical (because I mean, this does kind of make it all about him) leap and just assume your old childhood “friend” is mocking you yet again. that’s the Bakugou way, goddammit. good old inferiority complex constantly whispering that you’re not good enough, and you consequently being on the defensive all the time because you’re afraid other people will see it as well, and god forbid! cue John Mulaney “that’s the thing I’m sensitive about!!” gifs, etc. and Deku in particular has always watched him so insufferably closely, and Bakugou just knows it’s because he can see those weaknesses too. Deku knows. he knows. and Bakugou can’t fucking stand it.

anyway. so clearly if he’s picking “Deku” as his hero name, that must be his way of sending some kind of message, right? basically a big fuck you. clearly that’s the only explanation that makes sense. so fuck that, basically, and Deku can fuck right off, and god he’s the worst!! and so this is my best estimate of what Bakugou initially thought about Deku’s hero name. and unfortunately, given how stubborn and oblivious Bakugou remained about their relationship for a very long time, he probably carried on thinking this for quite a while.

but at some point this did change! and there are two parts to that. the first concerns Bakugou’s reluctant but nonetheless very real respect for Izuku as a rival. this is something that’s been growing steadily since their first fight at Ground Beta in chapters 8 through 10. that battle was the very last time Katsuki ever underestimated Izuku. when he lost to him, that put an end to any high and mighty thoughts he might have had about being superior. instead he grew even more wary of him and more obsessed than ever with comparing their progress and trying to expand the ever-closing gap between them (to no avail). which to be clear was not much of an improvement in regards to this being any kind of healthy relationship. but it does demonstrate that Bakugou has acknowledged Izuku’s power going quite a long ways back. and if you really want to get deep about it, he’s subconsciously been acknowledging it since they were four years old, and that’s precisely why he hated him for so long, but that’s a whole nother topic of conversation for another day.

anyway. so getting back on track, as I said, this is the first part of the gradual change in Bakugou’s opinion of Deku’s hero name. as his grudging respect for Deku gradually increased – and then rose very sharply and suddenly when he finally realized that Deku got his power from All Might, the hero they’ve always both admired – I suspect his thoughts on the name “Deku” started to change as well. and the other change, I think, probably came when he realized that Deku never was looking down on him. when they fought again at Ground Beta, and all of their suppressed and confused feelings were dragged into the light, and Deku explained – not for the first time, but it was the first time Katsuki ever really listened – that he chased after him because he admired him. oh. so this whole time, then… oh.

so then once he finally understands that, the name “Deku” definitely has to be seen in a different light. if it wasn’t ever intended to be some kind of weird burn on him, then that probably means that Deku was being honest all along, and it was just his way of telling the world “I am here”, and taking a part of his past that he’d once felt very badly about and turning it into something to be proud of. oh.

I don’t honestly know what Katsuki’s thoughts are on his past treatment of Izuku. I don’t know if he’s quite there yet where he’s ready to take a good long look at himself and acknowledge that he was a real shithead for a very long time, and that he bears pretty much all of the responsibility for what went on between them for so many years. I believe that he will get there, eventually, but he’s never been the type of person to do much reflecting and looking back. he’s always been more focused on looking forward. so even if he does acknowledge it, I think his way of trying to atone would be by treating Izuku better from here on out, not by dwelling over the past. he does owe him an apology for sure, and I like to think we may actually get it, particularly if the subject of quirklessness comes up in the future, or if the plot presents some kind of other in-your-face reminder that forces him to come face to face with it and acknowledge it. then at that point I think he’d apologize because if nothing else he’s not a coward, and to try and shy away from taking responsibility would be the cowardly thing to do. so yeah, I’m definitely holding out hope for this. but I also think that the bigger part of his apology to Izuku has to be his change in behavior moving forward. and in that respect he’s already made significant progress, so that’s great.

anyway, so the reason I bring that up is because I don’t think Katsuki often consciously thinks about the meaning of the nickname “Deku” these days, and what it actually means to him. Deku is Deku, mostly. it used to mean “useless”, and then at some point I think it just started meaning “Deku.” as in the person. just like he’ll always be “Kacchan” to Izuku. Izuku is “Deku” to him. it’s just how it is.

and I think the meaning of it has changed, for him, but not to “dekiru.” rather, it’s changed for him in the same way that his opinions on Deku-the-person have changed. I noted at the start of this essay that Katsuki isn’t really someone who’s particularly in touch with his feelings. and his feelings about Deku are a lot. and while he’s not usually someone to back down from a challenge, emotionally he might not quite be ready to start examining them all too closely just yet.

so for now, Deku is simply Deku. someone who formerly only ever pissed him off. but nowadays… maybe not so much.

anyway, so that’s my meandering rant about Kacchan’s thoughts on Deku’s hero name. in the end I went all over the place and didn’t really arrive at anything concrete! but I gave it my best go. thanks for the ask!

I can't stop thinking about how beautiful Lotor and Allura's children would be if they ended up being together

Oh goodness. Lotor is unfairly pretty, as is Allura. That’s quite a lot of way-too-pretty genetics all in one place! XD

Now… I don’t like raining on anyone’s parade, and I know you just want to have a friendly squee, but I hope it’s okay to bring up how Lotor and Allura have been written throughout the Voltron franchise. I want to write this as a fair warning in case people don’t realize what the issue with Allotor is. Now, technically, if we were looking just at VLD, Lotor and Allura’s interactions have been fine, so I can see why people who lack context to the full franchise would jump into a ship with these two. But the ongoing history of Lotor and Allura hasn’t been so innocent. It’s consequently why I personally would be uncomfortable to hook them up.

The longstanding tradition between Lotor and Allura has been… Lotor lusting after Allura, and trying to force her into a romance.

It’s not been pretty.

Beast King Golion (1981-1982) is the main source material from which the Voltron franchise developed. It set the stage for many things, including how Lotor (Prince Sincline) interacted with Allura (Fala). Even one summarizing paragraph from the Voltron wiki gives us an extremely unpleasant situation:

Sincline’s obsession with Fala was revealed that she resembles his mother and that his obsession was rooted in an Oedipus complex. Sincline’s infatuation with Fala is a constant motivation behind most of his attempts to defeat Golion to which even his father warned him to stop. Because of that obsession, Sincline kidnapped Fala’s identical cousin, Princess Amue of Heracles, rapes her, and attempted to execute her after she foiled his plans.

I own the entire Beast King Golion series on DVD, and I can confirm that Sincline does indeed try to pursue Fala and take her against his will. These screencaps all come from just one episode:

Fala is unconscious, Sincline steps over her, declares he’s going to make her his wife, and then picks up her up to kiss her. Obviously this is as “not okay” as you can get between Lotor/Sincline and Allura/Fala.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe (1984-1985) takes the animation of BKG but edits out and tones down its most disturbing content - avoiding deaths, blood, etc. - but it still keeps the concept of Lotor constantly pursuing Allura. This is the corresponding DotU episode from the BKG screencaps I gave you. “Give Me Your Princess” is also about Lotor deciding he wants to take Allura as his bride - something she obviously doesn’t want. And this becomes a recurring conflict throughout the DotU series.

Voltron: The Third Dimension (1998-2000) is part of the franchise I haven’t gotten to yet, but it’s written essentially as a sequel to DotU. Though I haven’t watched T3D, I have seen a few clips, and in E3 “Building the Forces of Doom,” Haggar shows Lotor his dreams and his fears. The dream he desires is… you guessed it… Allura…

The history of Lotor chasing after Allura makes its way into the comics and graphic novels. The Devil’s Due Publishing omnibus (2008), which retells DotU with more depth, grit, and maturity, is perhaps my favorite telling of Voltron. I’ve had my suspicions since S4 that VLD has been influenced by material within DDP, given as it contains a story where Sven (aka Shiro) is rejected from his lion, seems to get brainwashed by Haggar, betrays Voltron, and teams up with Lotor. There’s a point where Voltron and Lotor make a temporary alliance to fight against Yurak/Sendak. There’s a fight for leadership and power within the Drule (Galra) Empire. And it’s the only material in the Voltron franchise that seems to write a strong psychic bond between the Voltron pilots, their lions, and each other. Sound familiar?

So, one other thing that DDP brings up is the idea of Zarkon and Alfor initially being at peace, but then Zarkon capturing the planet Arus/Altea when Lotor and Allura were children. In this telling of Voltron, Lotor and Allura knew each other during childhood.

This gets slightly closer to what we see in VLD, but it also perpetuates the impure nature of Allotor. When Lotor reunites with Allura, he grabs her and says, “Now I’ve returned. And by rights, the spoils of war are mine for the taking.” This proceeds into a fight where Lance tries to stop Lotor from doing anything.

So what’s repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly been the case in Voltron canon for thirty years, starting back in 1981 and going well into the 2000s, is Lotor pursuing Allura and attempting to take her without consent.

The creators of Voltron: Legendary Defender have consciously cut away many of the franchise’s historic problems regarding issues like gender representation and misogyny. They’ve done away with the trope of one female character existing in an otherwise all-male team; Pidge, originally, Darrell Stoker, has become Katie Holt. They’ve written Allura far more favorably, with much less emphasis on her being the “pretty one” who’s not as good fighting because she’s “just a woman” (yes, this was in BKG). Instead of giving Lotor a harem (yes, this was in BKG and DotU, too), VLD has Lotor working respectfully with women generals. The writers have also intentionally promoted racial diversity by giving Hunk a Samoan background, Shiro a Japanese background, Lance a Cuban background, and designing Allura with a darker skin tone.

And VLD - praise God - seems to have consciously cut away Lotor lusting after Allura, trying to capture her, and trying to force her to marry him.

Now here’s the reason why I don’t like the concept of Lotor and Allura hooking up in VLD. In the DreamWorks show itself, there’s nothing wrong with Lotor and Allura’s interactions. That’s totally fine. If we look at it in a vacuum, it’s fine. And I like that it no longer writes that poisonous material between them. However… how disrespectful would it be for VLD’s creators to take a relationship that’s been written for 30 years as desired rape… and turn it into a romance? By writing an Allotor romance, they’d be acknowledging all the material that’s come before… all the very, very, uncomfortably impure material that’s come before. However you write an Allotor romance in the present day, there’s no way to deny that the firmly-embedded history of Allotor is non-consensual.

I don’t like the concept of taking something that’s been so thoroughly written as unhealthy, and which is well-known within old time Voltron fans as unhealthy, and making it into a new healthy ship. It’s not that it would “legitimize” the old, gross Allotor stuff. But it would… sweep aside all the problems behind it. It’s far more respectful and less controversial to simply delete Lotor’s romantic interests in Allura altogether.

I mean… if you think about it in terms of real life… if you were someone who had been sexually harassed by someone in the past, and then people wrote a novel about you based upon your real life where your harasser was now a nice prince charming… wouldn’t that feel… disturbing and disrespectful… to you?

So it means that I don’t want VLD to write Allotor. The way VLD has set up Allura and Lotor, yes, it would be alluring on its own. But the problem is that it’s not on its own. And it also means that I’m not going to hop onto any fandom ships for these two, either. I don’t enter ship wars. I don’t. I always want people to have fun shipping! I’m happy with people shipping whatever they want, just so long as they don’t hit any of the following three points: incest, pedophilia, and inherent abuse/lack of consent. Allotor rubs me wrong because of point number three.

So like you’re seeing here, if I see people hit upon one of these points, then I like to kindly inform people why I think it’s not the best ship to ship.

If VLD is going to write in a reciprocated romance between Allura and another individual (and they might not), they have some good options that also have franchise precedent, or at least franchise basis. Allura kisses Lance’s cheek several times in DotU, making him blush. Allura and Keith get engaged in Voltron Force comics, there’s a long Kallura plot arc in the Devil’s Due Publishing Omnibus, and Allura professes Keith as the one she loves in other DotU comics, too. And of course VLD always has the option of going on a new romance that hasn’t been done before, as I’m sure Shallura shippers would be quick to pipe up.

Again, I’m sorry to rain on your parade, since you’re so happily imagining how good looking Allura x Lotor children would look like! I know how much fun it is to imagine these things with our ships.
