mid-year book podcast freak out 2023
Got tagged by @allcountersarehipheight, which thank you so much for tagging me, I love to be tagged in things lol, but uh
I kinda realized that I haven't read enough books to actually do this lmfao. I did start reading Ancillary Justice this past week, and I read the book How to Keep House While Drowning (definitely recommend), and I've read a decent amount of fanfic.
But (as you know) I've had some Big Life Changes this year. Who knew, looking for apartments, packing, moving across the country, and starting a new job seriously eats up time and makes reading books difficult lol.
So anyway. The only media I've actually really consumed this year are podcasts, cause the move if anything only increased the time available for listening to podcasts. And this looked fun. So I'm gonna just. freak out about podcasts for a minute
Best book podcast you’ve read heard so far this year
The White Vault. Hooooly shit y'all. This show. I'm feeling so insane about it rn, and I am really looking forward to their next season whenever it releases and listening to their patreon-only miniseries in this world. I am just in awe of their entire production, the writing, the creeping dread and terror (my roommate laughed at me for my reactions), the fucking sound design!!!! lemme say, having Done sound design work myself, shit is hard and they really made this show next level real. And god it is impossible not to fall in love with the characters and sucked into the plot. If you hear it, it hears you too....
Best sequel you’ve read heard so far this year
The PALISADE season of Friends at the Table!! Another installment in their Divine Cycle stories and it continues to be my favorite podcast on the planet. It makes me feel so much I have trouble putting any of it into words. I can only scream incoherently and reblog the gorgeous wonderful fanart for this show. Everyone needs to listen to fatt right now immediately. This is not news to anyone who follows me lmfao
New release you haven’t read heard yet
The new season of Life with LEO(h)! I loved the first season, and I am really excited to listen to the second one that's releasing now. I haven't quite gotten around to it though, it's one of the shows where having both earbuds in helps me keep track of everything, and since I'm usually listening to stuff at work where I can't have both earbuds in, it's just been. Sitting in my playlist, waiting to be played.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Within the Wires season 8, definitely. I've been listening to the show since the first episode released in 2016 and it has remained one of my all time favorite podcasts for that entire time. I have no idea what the next season's focus will be, it's always something different, and it always always wrecks me, and it is always rearranges my brain. October can't come soon enough.
Biggest disappointment
The Two Princes. I had listened to the first season whenever that came out, but didn't follow it when it went exclusive on spotify, cause fuck spotify, but this year they quietly gave up on making it spotify exclusive. And maybe the fact I had enjoyed but felt pretty meh about season one should've been a hint for my reaction, but hey, they autodownloaded, so I decided to listen to seasons 2 and 3. And y'know. It was fine. It just wasn't particularly good. Idk, maybe I'm not the target audience for that show.
Biggest surprise
Lost Hills: The Dark Prince. It's a surprise cause it's not something I would've sought or picked out to listen to on my own. But you know the thing some shows do, where they go "hey, we're promoting another podcast, so we're dropping their first episode in our feed, enjoy" and you just go along with it instead of skipping, and afterwards you go "hm well I haven't cared about malibu or surfing At All my whole life, but now i just Gotta know the fucked up history of this One Dickhead who had a huge influence on the surfing culture that extends into the present day." Well. Here we are.
Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
Fool & Scholar Productions! Not debut, but new to me. They're the team responsible for The White Vault (among other shows I am looking forward to listening to). Seriously, their writing and their audio production are so so so excellent and I really admire their dedication to Getting things Right, particularly in regards to how they write international characters and go to great lengths to cast people from those cultures and who speak those languages to act. And although I haven't had a chance to listen to their TWV patreon-miniseries Imperial, the whole thing about using an endangered language in it and working with speakers and scholars of that language to get things right is just. Wow. It's incredible and I am (again) so excited to listen to it and their other shows, this team really just makes the language nerd and audio nerd in me vibrate
Newest fictional crush/newest favorite character
This was so difficult but I gotta say, Vivian Exler from the Upstairs and Downstairs game of fatt Road to Palisade. Gardner/groundskeeper who gets the revolutionary zines and is constantly bickering with the mechanic. I am predictable and quickly become a fan of any Jack de Quidt character and Vivian was no exception.
Book Podcast that made you cry
Yet another win for The White Vault here. It made me cry multiple times, for sad reasons, and I mean this another glowing recommendation for this show. Love to be made to feel emotions
Book Podcast that made you happy
Ologies with Alie Ward!! Literally this podcast is just a constant source of joy and makes me so happy to be on this planet. Every single ologist Alie interviews is so genuinely excited about their subject and it is endlessly fascinating to learn more about the world around us. There's episodes that definitely can be bummers, but even the bummer episodes ultimately instill in me optimism and hope and appreciation. And also I get to leave every episode with a handful of fun facts I can bring out at parties when I'm anxious.

things twitter migrants may find useful that dont often get included in "how to tumblr" posts
1- queueing!
instead of feeling bad for spam-reblogging and clogging up other people's feeds, you can click the dropdown and add it to your queue instead!
you can edit how many times a day your queue posts, and between what hours. You can easily re-order or completely shuffle your queue as well!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REBLOG STUFF. Tumblr doesn't run on an algorithm!! YOU are responsible for putting cool stuff onto your followers feeds!

2- personal tags
You can have different tags you use on your blog to help people navigate! for example, i use "dh rb art" when I reblog art and "dh rb" for most other reblogs- that's so that people can filter my reblogs out of their feeds if they dont wanna see that, and only want my original posts to show up.
On the other hand, my art is tagged "dh2497" so they can easily search my account for it!
If you open a person's blog and click the search button, a list of Featured Tags will show up. By default this is just the blogger's most used tags, but you can customize what shows up on yours in your blog settings
You can follow entire hashtags too! if you wanna see hermitcraft fanart without following every hermitcraft artist, follow the tag :D
3- Filtering
Tumblr actually hides things you don't wanna see, very nicely!
In your account settings, you can filter specific tags, and even specific words that show up in the post.
sometimes different bloggers warning tag differently (i do [trigger] tw or [content] cw) so you can try to input every variant, but if its something you really want to avoid just put it in the post content as well. Blocklists aren't really a tumblr thing, so if you wanna avoid an entire community you can block their tag as well
NEVER. CENSOR. YOUR WARNINGS. PLEASE. On twitter or tiktok or wherever, you may have to do that or else the algorithm suppresses it- THERES NO ALGORITHM HERE!!! if someone reblogs your post, it will show up for others, don't worry!!! you're just bypassing filters placed for people's safety, if you censor words.
Also! don't worry too much if a word you wanna filter is commonly used in unrelated contexts- tumblr doesn't remove it entirely, but rather adds a 'spoiler' so that you have to click on it to view it. So just in case it is what you want to avoid, you have time to prepare to see it.
4- effective tagging
[read more in detail here] Only the first 5 tags will show up for people who follow the hashtag. That makes them the most important! Then, the first 20 tags will make the post show up when searching that tag. The rest of them do not give your post any visibility.
I see a lot of people reblogging art with fanart tags- that can be useful for searching back the tag in the reblogger's blog specifically, but doesn't actually give the OP more visibility in that tag.
You'll learn what tags to use by checking the content you come across! most communities are "[word]blr", and most fanart goes "#[character/show] fanart". tumblr tags can have spaces!
Lastly, a few notes
you will only have 1 PRIMARY blog. this will appear when you like a post, comment on a post, or follow a blog. your sideblogs will not link back to your primary blog, but you cannot do those interactions as those sideblogs.
artists love receiving compliments when you reblog!! commenting does NOT boost the post. most people put their compliments in the TAGS of their reblog, so that it doesn't become a long post/thread, and if people reblog the reblog of your reblog you won't keep gettings notifications about it. The artist will still see and very much appreciate it
read up on tumblr etiquette, do not treat this place like twitter or you'll be disliked lol. there are some 'big blogs' but follower counts aren't public, popularity isn't a contest here. make friends, or just block/ignore people you don't get along with. no one cares about your petty arguments
if you noticed the lil cat in my screenshots, that's from a very useful browser extension called XKit!! it enables 1-click queue reblogs (automatically adding your tags), mass-post editing, and lots of other great tweaks vanilla tumblr doesn't have! and the cat is a silly cute thing you can enable in it as well

Just a note.
IDK if this will actually affect anyone here but I wanted to mention it just in case:
Since Twitter is kinda going to shit, I'm trying to shift my MDZS art collection over here. But I have like, almost 3 years worth of doodles and etc. scattered around at this point and it's really unruly to figure out what I've posted already and what I haven't so I'm gonna go through and backdate all my posts to their original Twitter post date to give this blog a slightly more archival quality.
I think this means that new posts won't show up on people's TLs so I'll probably just reblog them so people can see them??? I'll periodically reblog some of my older posts too when I don't have new stuff but yeah. (I'll delete the reblogs at a later point but you can mute the tag "#reblogging cause backdated" if you'd like to avoid them entirely.)
In any case sorry for any spam. U_U

my labels are genderqueer ace lesbian, but since that's a mouthful, I call myself queer 99% of the time. Any pronouns but they/them work for me. I'm an adult, and I've been in fandom for almost a decade now. It shows, since I miss the old fandom mentality, and won't tolerate people that don't stay in their lanes.

Fandom post- posts about a specific fandom I'm in. Usually tagged with the fandom in question to make it easier to block or search out.
Fandomless post- More serious and general posts. Probably what you're here for. Might mention fandoms, but ones I'm not in.
Alice and Bob- The names vary in the tags. Just means the post in question has these two characters in it. Could be shippy, could not be. 99% of the time, the more plot important character is listed first.

Tagging on tumblr: quick tips for podcast creators
Congrats on your new account. Here's some quick tips you didn't ask for.
Use spaces, eg #the far meridian
Capital letters won't affect tagging. eg #InCo and #inco will both show up in the same tag
A comma will split a tag, so just leave it out. Eg. Back Again, Back Again -> #back again back again
Tags written in the body of the post, as I've been doing here, won't show up in a search.
You probably want to add tags to any new post you make, as these can be searched for.
However! If you're reblogging, you don't actually need to add any. They won't show up in tag searches outside of your own blog. You can use them on your own blog to, a) find things again later, and b) add content warnings. I use them for organisation, mostly.
If you use content warning tags, Do Not sensor the text. It makes them harder to filter. For, say, peaches, valid options include #peaches, #cw peaches, or #tw peaches. Some people add things after, eg. #cw peaches //, which I personally find makes things more difficult to filter.
Your show has it's own tag, congratulations!! Before you tag anything else, you should add your show tag.
One content warning tag worth a specific mention: if you are including an animated image or video in your post that could set off epilepsy (ie, contains flashing lights or rapidly cycling colours) tag it with #flashing lights. Do not tag it with #epilepsy.
If the OP added a content warning tag on their post, tumblr's filtering system can still pick it up in reblogs, even if you haven't added it.
There may be variations on it. The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity and Mortality has: #the mistholme museum of mystery morbidity and mortality, #the mistholme museum, #tmmmmm, #m5, and so on.
Most shows just use 2, eg #where the stars fell and #wtsf
Podcasts that may be confused with other things typically use a variant. eg. Malevolent -> #malevolent podcast, The Weird -> #join the weird
Tagging with your own show name will also help anyone looking for you to actually find you. This could be by spotting one of your posts, but tumblr search also tells you which blogs use a certain tag a lot. Search for "#audio drama" and you might find me.
Tagging irrelevant things (on a new post) is considered spam and is a better way to get blocked than noticed.
However, adding names of other shows like yours may be a handy way of promoting your own show, but to a limit. If you do it for more than the occasional promo, people will again, block you for clogging up the tags.
#audio drama, #audio fiction, and #fiction podcast can help people who are looking for new shows to notice you. They are also relevant and will not get you blocked.
Any really general tags like #scifi probably won't do anything: they're heavily used and rarely searched.
Anything past the first 20 tags (if I remember correctly) will not show up in a search. You can add up to 30 tags.
If you put quotations around text in a tag #"like this" it will show up as the first tag (minus the quotations). If you put it in the middle of a sentence the quoted bit will (bizzarely) be cut out of the sentence and show up as the first tag. Eg [#this is an "example sentence" i am using] becomes [#example sentence #this is an i am using]
The OP of a post can see anything you put in the tags, but unless what you say is uncomfortable or very good they will probably politely pretend they didn't see.
Instead of replying in a reblog directly, people on this site usually write in the tags. If someone likes it, they may add it as a reply (with your username: peer reviewed). This is also considered the polite way to say things like ''this is 100% greg and darryl in episode 5'' on posts that aren't actually about your show.
On a related note: promoting your show as a reblog of someone else's post (unless they have specifically asked or indicated this is fine) is advised against. Posting your new episode notice onto someone else's aesthetic image post, for example, will be seen as obnoxious. However, tagging that same post with #Episode 11, or #show aesthetic #y'all aren't ready for tomorrow's episode is completely acceptable.
While useful, you aren't ever obligated to use tags, either.
Just do your best, don't stress. You'll get the hang of it.

Since I'm sure there will be a lot of new people from Twitter, I want to personally say welcome, but also please don't make the shipping wars any worse. Lol
You can do that by tagging correctly, blocking people you don't like, and muting tags that upset you. Tags are like folders. When people tag correctly, it's like opening a book with only the things you like on an endless school. Very handy.
Are you making a post about your favorite ship? Excellent! Tag it correctly. Do not tag a bunch of irrelevant tags as that's considered spamming. Your tags should look like:
#shipname #charactera #characterb #whatever else you want that is actually related to the post
By the way, this isn't twitter. Tags can have spaces in them. You can write a whole ass paragraph almost. It's enouraged to do so!
Also, this isn't TikTok. "Unalive" and other censored words for the "algorithm" are dumb and pointless. There is no algorithm. Use the right words so that people can filter what they don't want to see.
Are you writing a negative post about a ship you don't like? Well that's a waste of time but you do you, just tag it correctly. Your tag should like like:
#anti-ship #dont mention the ship in any other way! It could pop up in their tags when those shippers are trying to do their own thing
Don't cross post KNOWING your post can upset someone. Don't play coy. Don't play dumb. Don't start drama on purpose. If you're bored and want some action, why not get a real hobby instead of fighting on the internet?
If a tag is meant for a platonic ship, then you should find the proper romantic ship version of that name. If another character or pairing has nothing to do with your post, then keep it in your pants and don't tag them. It's rude and could earn you some blocks.
That is the proper tagging etiquette for tumblr.com. You can mute any tag you want by visiting your settings and adding a tag to filtered tags and/or filtered content.
Anon hate is a thing of the past. Grow up. You can send anonymous or faced questions to almost any blog you want. You can also turn off that feature entirely if you don't like it.
If you don't like someone, you can select the three dots on top of their posts and block them. You can save yourself a headache if you learn to curate your experience~
Here in Tumblr, there is no reliable algorithm. More than likely, Tumblr won't be showing everyone posts that are relevant to them automatically. You'll have to visit the tags yourself to see what you want to see.
If YOU LOVE SOMETHING, REBLOG IT. Likes work like bookmarks here on tumblr.com. Everyone appreciates likes on their posts, but sadly, that's all it is. A post can die in the sea of irrelevance if no one reblogs it.
You know all those cool popular posts you see with thousands of notes? They only got like that because thousands of people reblogged it.
Do your artist friends, writer friends, and normal friends a favor by reblogging their posts and spreading the good word~. If you consistently reblog good posts on a consistent basis, you'll likely find yourself some cool followers as well who have the same interests as you.
By the way, while you can be a little well known here in Tumblr, you'll never have any clout. Give up now before you even begin. Everyone is an equal here. We're all just fans being fans of whatever content we're consuming that day alright? There are famous people on here, but unless they're chill and breezy, people will tend to chase them away anyway.
Do you want separate your personal blog from your fan blog? Well no need to make a new account, you can just add a sideblog and it's practically the same thing. You only have to log in once. I have at least a dozen active side blogs for every new interest I get very invested in. Great for organization and keeping your main blog for your personal rambles and posts.
By the way, there's no need to tell everyone your name, your phone number, your address etc. This site is anonymous. Enjoy the anonymity! Let yourself be a faceless fan among other faceless fans, keep your personal details safe and private.
And finally, don't be a creepy weirdo. That's pretty self explanatory. If your are a creepy weirdo, stop while you're ahead. You know you're gonna get caught and ousted. You aren't slick, you're just a weirdo.

heyyyy i had a post gain some traction a while ago where i listed some good advice for newbies on tumblr, but some of the information in that post is now either outdated or no longer helpful. here's a better, more accurate version.
advice for tumblr newbies (2.0)
so as i said before, deleting your post will not stop it from getting reblogs. tumblr reblogs work by saving a new version, a "snapshot" of your post, frozen in time, immune to any changes to its content you may make. as such, so long as a reblog of your post exists out there, simply deleting it will not solve the issue if you want people to stop reblogging. HOWEVER, since my last post there was a monumental new feature added to tumblr that allows you to disable reblogs universally across all existing versions of your post. this setting is called "Reblog Control", and can be changed even after a post has already been made. this is now no longer an issue.
deleting your blog or posts may cause oddities to occur on existing reblogs, such as empty OP, empty notes, and so on. if you notice these in the wild, that's what happened.
tumblr does have an algorithm, but its barely functional. you'll mostly have to curate your experience on here by yourself. follow blogs you want to see, block people you dislike, reblog posts you enjoy, and you'll find a community you like in no time.
reblogs are really the only way to boost attention for work somebody else has done. if you're not recieving any more attention on a post even though it has tons of likes, it's because you'd need reblogs for that. there is a new feature, called Blaze, where you can pay money to have your post shown to a certain amount of random users. this is never a good idea and nobody ever likes it
that last part is because tumblr is actually broken up into smaller subcommunities, who, due to the nature of the site, can stay extremely isolated from eachother. blazing a post will force people from outside your circle to see it, which can lead anywhere from confusion to hostility. on the other hand, this means that you'll rarely have to interact with people outside of your bubble.
posts don't generally become too old to reblog. if you see a post and hear it's from a long time ago, it's probably still okay to interact with. where this becomes iffy is when you start going though one specific person's old posts repeatedly, which isn't always appreciated. if you aren't sure, check the date.
tags are a very important tool for blog organization. they often work better than the content search function, and can help your original posts gain traction. if you aren't sure how to use tags on a post, take a look at other people's blogs and take note of how they use them for ideas. they do however serve another purpose, and that's to avoid adding a reblog comment.
reblog comments are where you add directly on to a post with something extra. generally, you should only do this if you're really certain that you're adding something of value to a post, or if the original post is one of your own. doing this if you don't have anything important to say is considered rude in most contexts. the workaround for this is simple: say whatever you wanted to say in the tags. character limits on tags are actually quite large, so you can add most anything you want to say. this ensures that what you want to say about the post shows up on YOUR blog, but won't necessarily transfer over to other reblogs, and it isn't considered an inept thing to do.
change your icon/pfp. change it. this website has lots of spam bot users (again, poor moderation) and while some of them do have icons, not changing yours is the easiest way to be mistaken for a bot. just change it to anything you want, but otherwise you run the risk of being reported for spam or blocked. if you're feeling up to it, tumblr gives you plenty of other blog customization options as well, such as headers and fonts and color schemes. if you're on desktop, you can even completely alter how the website looks when somebody visits your blog, but thats better to do when you already know your way around a bit.

we feel helpless and i myself am angry and irritated because at first, we were patient with tu/mblr staff but now as you pointed out its nearly 1 month and we wrote multiple emails and reports about YT being shadowbanned but aside from the bot replies no real help from them. those are so useless and dumb nothing is actually getting done idk why they even insist on them when they are this far behind in actually solving problems. we're just confused why YT even got shadowbanned in the first place. there's nothing harmful about it and it's a tiny tiny little insignificant blog about movies. there's nothing harmful about it and it's neither spamming stuff so we wonder what the reason for this was? like without kaaj noticing it in the first place we wouldn't be as quick to react to it and quickly move all the edits from the queue back into the drafts. and i had side blogs in the past with lots of followers and exposure but nothing like this ever happened to them. even with netflix/dramas thankfully that problem never happened and i gif lots of violence/gore-filled stuff there. so i don't even know how long it will take and how long we have to wait. i downloaded a lot of classic old-school and contemporary movies that are as pretty and diverse in themes/topics as they can get so we would love to show them on here and let people be interested in those. but we refuse to post edits when we are facing this problem 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 and i could post those movie edits on here but i don't want to because i am stubborn and i want to post them on YT and not on my main blog because the whole reason for YT was to have a place that is just about that and not have it on a main blog that's multifandom 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i just loooooooooooooooooove working with kaaj and sam on YT as a team and knowing this problem is setting us back this hard is so agonizing and annoying. i'm not complaining about anything on here i just want our blog to run normally again.
my hope is that by the end of march, we'll get YT back to normal and that it won't happen again like there are reposter blogs out there full-on stealing stuff meanwhile our blog is getting shadowbanned. makes no sense? porn blogs are infesting all the tags but sure YT is the one blog that needs to get shadowbanned here. not fair ://////////////

𝐈𝐈. Likes and reblogs are always appreciate, truly, they are! But please refrain from spam liking/reblog on my posts, as I will then assume that you haven't properly read through my works and fics. Some people who do this will think that liking the posts on any social platform will gain them some fans and grow out their blog. There are many many other ways to gain followers and readers, so please, find them, and try not to spam-like my fics. On that note, reblogs are very much appreciated, as liking the post doesn't really get the word out. Don't get me wrong, I love it when I see people liking my posts, but truly, if I want to spread my works through the world of Tumblr, I will have to settle for reblogs over likes.
𝐈𝐈𝐈. This is a completely SFW (safe for work) blog, in which I post/write SFW fics. The only exception is the occasional gore/angst/violence, which is probably going to be often circling my blog as my current project (as of January 2023) involves war and violence. I will not be writing NSFW posts on this blog (I might eventually on my main blog), and the only exception for that is I may write/reblog the occasional suggestive post (ie: making out, getting a little touchy, mentions of intercourse, etc.). I interact with dc (dark content) + NSFW authors, so fair warning.
𝐈𝐕. My updates on this blog are inconsistent, which means that I update/write when I want to and when I have the time to. Do not expect me to come barracading through Tumblr with dozens of story/fic ideas. My motivation is not always with me (espectially now), so please bear with me if you're waiting on an update/another part to a series I wrote. Do not write in the comments section or reblog "when's the next update?" or "part two???", as that just causes my anxiety to further spiral. I am, to some extend, a pro-shipper. I barely have any preferences when it comes to Ram ships, I'm fine with just about any (including self-inserts and OCs)
There are some shipping dynamics I don't like, one or both characters being OOC as hell, general toxicity and abuse, underage x adult, non-con, things of that nature, but I'm fine with pretty much anything deemed "problematic", assuming the issue is handled reasonably well (and if it's not handled well... the creator has a right to vent via creative media, even if I don't like said media. Better have them let out their frustrations creatively than... you know. Actually acting on them.)
For Ram fandom's "problematic" ship specifically, I'm neutral on Ramyatta, slightly leaning towards the don't like it territory, but for reasons other than the whole pseudo-incest thing (it's not incest in my eyes because robots don't have genes and monastery titles, but I can see how Ram and Zen calling each other "brother" is offputting)
I generally don't take requests, but if I happen to vibe a lot with a certain concept, I might just draw it

heya! i too am a member of the discord and have been for quite some time now, and i have to say, e v e r y o n e is exaggerating.
the discord is generally pretty welcoming to new people, but it is true that if you don't share any common interests or ships, you won't get much attention past that. on the other hand, if nobody else there even watches the same show or doesn't care about your blorbo, it's understandable that nobody else is gunna engage with you about them. try looking at the tags for that fandom or blorbo or ship here on tungl, or look for discords dedicated to that fandom /gen
yeah, there is a group in the discord that is kind of a circlejerk, a mod is part of the circlejerk group and they are kind of an asshole tbh, but idk personally i've seen far worse in other places (coughcoughairronartfightcough) so it's whatever, no discord is perfect. the other staff isn't and tbh only half of the mods seems to be present at any given day anyhoo
yes some people in the discord allcaps insults at eachother, it's very obviously friends having a giggle, they're not gunna talk to new people like that. sure it can be pretty annoying when there's 100+ new messages and it's just spamming the channels, but whatever, just mark as read and find something else to do for a while
you're also not likely to get much attention on your art unless you have a particular graphic toon art style, and draw masc characters or the right kind of kinks, or you're a bna. ((god forbid you're a proship bna, you will have people tripping over you constantly. but that's how it goes!! :p))
the comm is like 90% mlm transmasc so tbh most fem stuff in general gets overlooked or ignored. i don't really talk in there much anymore bc i feel hella out of place bc i'm not transmasc or mlm and a lot of the stuff i like isn't well liked there :"))))
on the other hand. atleast you're not gunna be shamed for liking whatever kink and stuff there. you just get ignored if people don't like it. and the mods are pretty hard on shittalking people, there's a rule against vagueing and posting callouts (someone recently joined JUST to vague mastodon users, tried to pick a fight with the mods when they were told to knock it off and read the rules, and then got banned. rofl byeee) /lh

Do you have an adaptation you like just as much if not more than the original book? Tired of automatic claims that the book is better or people insisting an adaptation is bad just because it's different in any way? Is there an adaptation that you feel is underrated, or just makes you really happy? Is there a show or movie you love dearly, regardless of whatever it may be based on?
Boy, do I have the poll tournament for you!
The rules are simple:
Submit any screen adaptations that you think were just as good if not better than the books they were based on.
You can submit as many characters as you want but do it in separate submissions. Please don't spam one character a bunch of times in a row.
Only submissions through the form will be counted, not asks.
Generally, I'm focusing on TV/movie adaptations of books, but you can make a case for anything if you want.
TERFs, transmeds, exclusionists, and other bigots are NOT welcome.

I don't know if you're exaggerating or trying to be funny? But I wish u & others spamming the cockles tag begging people to ask them to kiss in a photo op would just STOP. Misha was making a joke, & sure maybe they kiss in private we'll never know for sure, but actively trying to get them to kiss for a fan photo op is a) embarrassing for all of us who ship them & b) intrusive af. The fact that any of u really think they want that shows you have zero respect for them or their actual relationship.
Hey anon... Since you're one of us and not a hater... Imma be straight with you. All of us are legit joking. It's just for fun. I wouldn't want to see them kiss for a freaking photo op c'mon. I am one of those people who'd actually protect something that private even if I had the chance to witness it. It'll never happen but if a did see them kiss someday, it's going to the grave with me unless they decide to go public. We respect their privacy here. Yeah if they want to kiss cosplaying as destiel, I'd be down for that. But if I want a cockles kiss, it definitely won't be for a photo op and a fan request.
Also keeping my personal thoughts aside, I wouldn't be shocked if they do in fact kiss in front of us at a convention someday because trust me, they want to. They're chaotic asf. They have done things on stage one can't even imagine. If a guy can show someone his freaking underwear on stage, a kiss wouldn't be much of a reach. I get you don't want people to say that directly to them cuz it's intrusive and embarrassing for all of us and I agree. We have this hard and fast rule that no matter what they tell us, its totally their choice and we won't actively talk to them about their relationship and that is always gonna stay the same.

Minor content warning for description of surgery and death
I am the proud recipient of 5-8 donor ligaments [doc won't tell me how many so that's my best guess]! They where used in my knees to reconstruct torn and unrepairable ligaments that where affected by my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
Because of my EDS, I frequently minorly dislocated my knees for years [which actually is very common in normal knees too! Everyone dislocates there knees at one point in there life while going through growth spirts!] and all the connective tissue in my knees became less elastic and stretched out over time due to it being genetically wrong, resulting in major dislocations that compromised my ability to walk!
So, my doctor deconstructed my knees and removed almost all my major ligaments, replacing them with donor parts that aren't affected by eds and Tightening them tighter than a normal person's to add security, he also drilled a Zig zag channel through my knee caps and threaded extra ligaments through them for more support, just in case my body did ever manage to stretch out my knees!
That all being said I'll say it again-
PLEASE REGISTER TO BE AND ORGAN DONOR! YOU CAN SAVES LIVES AND IMPROVE LIVES AND ITS CONDONED BY MANY MAJOR RELIGIONS, COUNTRY'S, AND SOCIAL GROUPS!
Also! Please NEVER take how Hollywood protrays organ donation as true!!! I've seen so many episodes of Grey's Anatomy that show organ donation as bad, and the doctors as organ thrives which is FALSE! My grandfather was an organ Donor when he passed! You HAVE to die a brain death to donate, which they double, triple, and dectuple check before they proceed! You can also request certain Organs not be donated, either because of health issues or just personal preference! [Ie, you may know you have a genetic predisposition for liver cancer and choose not to donate it, or you may just feel weird about donating your eyes!]
I can walk thanks to organ donation! One of my best friends in highschool was born with a heart defect and lives because of a heart transplant! You can help burn victims! Folks with rare diseases! People who where injured! People who are trying to get there lives back together after addiction! Please look up how to register as an organ Donor in your area!

I didn't want to go here AGAIN, but engines-and-gin [new username and I have them blocked so I can’t fully tag them] is making posts about the situation
They've been harassing me and others for *months*, this whole situation started in early to mid 2020.
It started with this person following me and several others [@merciresolution included] and when we investigated there blog initially [as one does when followed by someone you don’t know, you take a few glaces at there blog], we found it full of spam about Thomas characters being age changed as infants and this person obsessing over them to a very high degree, including reblogs of posts that where not clear if they where from age play or agre sources [and this whole situation was taxing on me enough to begin with to do any further digging], there where also untagged posts with nsfw and major triggers [blood, needles, violent situations]. We talked to them about agre and asked them to a.) Keep it out of the main tags due to it being super sensitive and triggering to many people, an b.) To please stop refollowing people to spam there accounts with notifications, we THOUGHT the situation ended there but the person started posting on the main tag after a few weeks on a new blog, and with that they started spamming asking others to do agre role play with them while claiming they needed it for mental health reasons [they’ve claimed they have depression, severe enough they are in fear of hurting themself, but that they also refuse to talk to a mental health professional for it for various reasons]
After these events, and several attempts at reaching out to them through different channels, asking them to stop spamming other, they took a break for a few months. However, these behaviors started up again in last 2020 early 2021.
They once again started following, unfollowing, and refollowing me on my main account [this one] and @\logging-locos every day for almost a month while I sent them several asks for them to PLEASE stop doing so, before they deleted the account in question and started up again with *another* blog, at this point I blocked them for the second time [the first time being on the first account earlier in the year]
In the interim between early 2021 and this latest, they made several new accounts, I repeatedly blocked after realizing it was the same person *over and over*
Are latest follwing was a final straw for me. Opening this persons blog and seeing Agre, untagged nsfw, and many untagged common triggers is finally taking enough of a toll on me that I cannot handle it anymore.
Seeing them and there content is constantly putting me into bad spells of intrusive thoughts, and seeing agre not only is affecting my mental health with intrusive thoughts but ‘Age Regression’ is often a technical term used in courts or by law firms that is used against autistic adults and teenagers. Being Autistic and Neurodivergent in other ways I’ve seen ‘mental age’ and ‘age regression’ both used in the context of abusing autistic and other neurodivergent peoples. Forcing them into situations where they lose there rights as adults. It happens more than you think, and age regression and mental age are both terms that are touted by anti autistic organizations as ways to de power autistic’s and spread misinformation. Any information I’ve found about Agre as a form of therapy is either from unsourced materials on tumblr and other blogging platforms, or very specific mental health practices that I have not found to be a general consensus. As far as I’m concerned, the content I’m seeing from this blog is not a major therapeutic practice, I cannot find any research papers on the concepts, and the blurry line between Agre and Age play is very large and not one I have the mental capacity to deal with
I have a backlog of information screenshots of interactions with this person and I’m willing to share them, but I’m really exsaughted right now
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REPORT AND/OR BLOCK THE USER ENGINES-AND-GIN, BUT ALSO PLEASE STOP INTERACTING WITH THEM AND PLEASE DO NOT GO AN ANTAGONIZE OR HARASS THEM
