i feel like, especially in the midst of the double strike, it is important when we talk about big blockbusters, and certainly franchise centerpieces (or premieres, like barbie for the mattel cinematic universe), not to act like the director, writers, and cast are disposable. but particularly the directors. because while, for example, greta gerwig needed mattel’s ok to make a film with their IP, they also needed her (and her co-writer, noah baumbach). when marvel spends out the ass to get auteurs like ryan coogler for black panther or when DC courts indie darling cathy yan (who was indeed undercut in the end by warner bros), or even when marvel sticks with the russo brothers for the avengers movies and lionsgate with john wick director chad stahelski for all the sequels…….it’s not because it doesn’t matter who’s directing lol. these movies are not guaranteed to succeed. a look at the recent flop era of pixar (and of marvel!) illustrates that pretty clearly. deviating from a formula, or going with an unproven rando, is a recipe for disaster.

films need talent with a vision to succeed. yes, mattel was also going to spend out the ass to promote barbie. its a blockbuster, that’s always the case. but if the movie sucked and flopped, that would be the end of that. having a director with a vision, a voice, an authorial intent, and a proven track record is fundamental. the fact that studios cannot make these films themselves is WHY actors and writers are striking and part of the argument they’re making. i find it to be callous and silly to suggest otherwise, but i’ve seen a lot of that. it is a symbiotic relationship, albeit one in which the balance of power is firmly on one side.

During those moments, she didn't really comprehend much of the loss of the queen, but imagine she just realized it during her flight to Chicago.

Ironheart is probably going to be painful, seeing as how Shuri will appear on it as well, and also imagine their whole comfort/hurt and soft angst on their relationship.

Three more repotted babies - and status pics of the original ones.

Hoping everyone turns out okay. The heart succulent was originally buried up to that line in the soil of his tiny pot so I replanted him above that and I’m hoping he ends up a lot happier for it. The tower succulent seemed to be one of the only ones who wasn’t super irritated with the original pot - but his soil was DISGUSTING so I’m happy he’s freed and I hope to see him settle in too. And then the tradescantia’s leaves were starting to spot a little? I was trying to mist it to keep it moist but according to Google I should be keeping the soil moist not the leaves and that’s what’s been spotting her. So no more of that I was being a dummy.

Happy that long red boy seems to be doing good. I mean he survived for a year in a way too small Winco pot because I was an ignorant idiot so I sorta figured he’d be able to handle repotting - he thrives on spite and now he has a lot more than spite going for him.

The white flower succulent - ugh I accidentally dropped him when I was repotting him - I was so worried about not packing him in that I didn’t give him enough support and he tumbled out and according to his leaves he’s now probably in shock and super stressed. I’m gonna leave him alone and see how things go over the next few weeks but ugh I get emotional every time I look at him, I feel so awful that I dropped him and I hope he lives.

Ugh I love them so much. I still need to repot my poor violet and pink panther. Gotta get some soil for them this weekend. Then it’s no more newbies until I can keep these ones thriving for a while.

I really don't get people who are confused/ mad about others that don't like ShurixNamor ship? Like they forgot the whole part of the film where Namor murdered her mother basically in front of her (her last family member, a year after losing T'challa), attacked her home and city, and killed her citizens. Not to mention, she only agreed to go with Namor because Riri and Okoye were in mortal danger, it's still kidnapping.

This is how I know Shuri is better than me, because if he killed my mother, Namor would be no more.

I get he is a beautiful sea man and a great antagonist, and I doubt anyone has any objections to Namor x Reader.
