Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
This sequence broke me. Kenta is such an amazing character and I don’t see anyone else talking about it specifically this scene and all the things happening in it.
First of all kudos to Garfield and Tony’s actor idk his name but they played their roles so well not just in this scene specifically but all throughout the show. I remember watching the last episode of Boys Journey before PitBabe came out officially and I was a bit underwhelmed by the description of Kenta’s character. I just assumed he would be a background character and I felt and bit bad for Garfield as he would just be playing a bodyguard.
I am so glad I was proven wrong. In my opinion Kenta is one of the most compelling characters in the show. His moral compass is flawed because of all the trauma he has been through. He was raised a dog as Tony mentioned in episode 12. He wasn’t treated as a human until probably Pete. But even Pete abandoned him. He truly feels that he has no one but Tony.
Sadly this is often the mindset of people in an abusive relationship. While Tony is a piece of shit he provides for Kenta, and he makes it known that Kenta would be no where without him. This is something Tony has drilled into his head. I wish we got to know more about Kenta’s background though.
Because in this scene specifically
I can’t help but wonder how did Kenta end up with Tony. I didn’t read the novel so I have no idea what happens to Kenta there. However I feel like either Kenta is Tony’s biological dad and that’s why Kenta can’t bring himself to walk away. Or… maybe he is adopted and Tony has kept him around this long because of his loyalty. It’s possible that Kenta has a an unrequited love for Tony. He probably knows it’s wrong but Tony being the awful person he is thinks it’s amusing so he keeps Kenta
There was just so much to unpack about their interactions in episode 12.
Okay I have more to say but I need to sleep it’s 5am and I have work at 9
WAAAAAAAAA MY POOR BABYYYYYYYYY YOIICHI COME HERE IM GOING TO HUG YOU AND THEN WRAP YOU UP IN A FLUFFLY BLANKET AND GIVE YOU HOT CHOCOLATE WITH MARSHMALLOWS AND WHIPPED CREAM AND WE CAN SIT DOWN BY THE FIREPLACE AND READ COMICS TOGETHERRERRERR
Our poor baby. I could feel his heart shattering. Having a crush on your best friend is such an impossible situation to be stuck in. You don't want to jeopardise your existing friendship by revealing your feelings, and yet you yearn for more. And Mew made it quite clear he doesn't see him that way.
And now we have an indication there's tragedy in Ray's past as well. This boy just doesn't want to be on his own.
