oh CAN i? okay first things first. this is entirely because of good omens s2 and particularly uses concepts from episode 3 about "angels/demons who go along as best they can". also canon gillion and chip are very azi/crowley coded to me (cmon, gill's a literal paladin sent to the oversea to portend the rapture that he's now doubting the need for and chip is a mischievous little bastard with too much charisma and until recently no concrete stake in anything except for protecting his crew) so yeah. anyways the information will be delivered in bullet points for each person

CHIP

was an angel. a pretty young one, at that. possibly came to existence around the 3rd millennium of mana's society

pretty mischievous and self interested for an angel. lets just say he fucked around and found out, and for it he was kicked out of heaven and fell into hell, but managed to crawl out like the stubborn bastard he is

the form he fell and crawled back to earth in was a young human looking boy. involuntarily, of course. but he often struggled to change his form in the past, instead letting it be dictated by his emotional state (another fairly chaotic and unangelic thing to do), and right now he feels small, weak, and vulnerable

he's picked up by the black rose, and, desperate to belong, he goes along with their assumption that he's just a normal kid, too weak to use much power or even change his form. for the couple years he lives with the crew, he doesnt grow. (this is chalked up to malnourishment.)

unfortunately, now that he's a demon, he has an Energy. and that energy attracts things. in particular: bad shit, and other demons. niklaus takes notice of this crew claimed by a seemingly inexperienced demon and decides to sink it for fun and to see what chip will do.

chip washes ashore on another island with two thoughts: one, he doesnt think he's allowed to be attached to anything good anymore without poisoning it, and two, he needs to be scarier in order to not be fucked with.

so he spends ten years hanging around ruben price, a man who acts so comically, stereotypically evil that chip occasionally doubts how mortal he is, but it seems like price just Like That. a handy trick of being a demon now is that chip can Sense types of energy- positive, negative, etc. what's scariest about price is chip gets nothing off of him, which is why he's the perfect person to watch

things come to a head when price forces chip to kill a man. and, well, its kind of what he's supposed to do, as a demon- but he hates it. in particular, he hates not feeling in control, and it angers him enough that hes finally able to use some demonic power to set price's warehouse ablaze and disappear into the night. (his hands are now blackened from where they caught fire and he now has a tail, being so unused to using magic that using it burnt away his human form to reveal the true form beneath it. he cant really disguise them back to normal because, again, bad at form shifting)

he sets sail on the sea and lands on an island where he follows a particularly strong negative energy to a tavern where he meets...

JAY

girl who's family basically run the navy.

her older sister was just mysteriously murdered around a year and a half ago, and she's going through it

by which i mean, She's Pissed. she wants whoever killed her to be found and brought to justice, preferably with the business end of her own pistol, but her father (an admiral) has fucked off to gods-knows-where and there's not really any leads at home beyond being surrounded by what her sister left behind... she's getting desperate.

she's bartending at her mom's tavern one evening when a guy her age walks in but he's.. wrong. somehow. there's dozens of lanterns and candles in the room, and yet he seems to cast a long shadow behind him no matter where he turns. also his hands are dark claws. she's pretty sure he's a demon honestly.

she's getting desperate and she wants leads. his appearance makes her feel almost irrational in how suddenly she remembers she needs to find her sister's killer.

so, with some part of her screaming that she is being very, very stupid, she offers a deal. vengeance for her sister in exchange for her soul. the demon looks weirdly surprised at this and tells her that her soul won't be necessary, that he needs a crew on his ship and all she needs to do is travel with him. so she accepts, they shake hands, and jay tries to ignore how much her instincts are screaming this is a bad idea.

they set sail two days later on the demon's dingy little ship and begin sailing towards where jay thinks the next largest navy outpost is, and on the way they meet...

GILLION

gillion is an archangel. he's pretty young, all things considered. he's not sure when he came into being, but he's pretty sure he's a replacement for.... someone.

gillion has a destiny, that's for certain. the heavenly council has been training him since his creation for some kind of destiny, though he hasn't really thought to ask what it is. he's sure it's good, though. the heavenly order would never mislead him into committing morally reprehensible acts in the service of a greater cosmic good, right?

his "life" is pretty rigid though. all training, no play, and certainly no contact with the mortal realm, that is, until he follows some of his superiors on their way to bless some admiral of some mortal navy. except... this guy is evil. its written in his the fake smiles, his body language, the way he listens to them with greed in his eyes.

and gillion was destined to smite evil, so he attacks him.

heaven, of course, doesn't take kindly to this, but instead of kicking him from heaven outright, they propose a test of faith: be stripped of most of his divinity and fulfill his destiny within a year in the mortal realm. it's not like he has a choice, so they kick him down to mana with only his sword and a little bit of armor.

he falls into the sea, deep, deep into an undersea trench, where the first thing he sees are a couple tritons. and, yeah, tritons seem pretty cool. so with the last vestiges of whatever divine energy he carries, he becomes a triton and uses his wings (oh thank gods he still has his wings) to propel himself to the surface of the sea.

for a while, he floats adrift, taking in the feeling of being wet and having the sun burn his body where it rests above the waves and the taste of salt on his tongue and the dark spots in his eyes that appear every time he stares too long at the sun. but that's fine. it's.... nice. he can almost forget it's a punishment.

after a day of listless floating, Something appears on the horizon, and then grows closer. its large, and brown, and honestly kind of shabby looking. but it looks cozy, a bit more hospitable than the ocean, and he sends out a dozen silent prayers and thank-yous when the ship suddenly changes course and begins heading Directly for him.

a man pokes his head over the railing of the vehicle and asks if he's okay. his hair is a really pretty color. his eyes kind of remind him of the fires lit to burn sacrifices that he's seen humans make a couple times. a blackened, clawed hand reaches out to grab his, and when they touch, it the crackle in the air feels like the moments just before a smiting lightning strike. he feels forbidden. but gillion's beginning to appreciate the idea of a rebellious phase, so he grips him tightly and lets himself be pulled onboard.

ITEMS OF IMPORTANCE

chip knows what gillion is, gillion does not know what chip is. chip is completely fine with this and is deciding to use it to his advantage in order to do minor devilish activities

what follows is basically the same plot until episode 14, though chip leans a lot more heavily into trickery and temptation

when it's revealed What chip is, gillion is not only Pissed but afraid for jay's soul, convinced that chip has been traveling with her in order to prey and feed upon it. he and chip duel, and gillion wins, as good so often does against evil— but before gillion can smite him and send him back to whence he came, jay steps in and stops him long enough for chip to slip away below deck. she tells gillion she made a deal with him and he blatantly refused her soul, which is why she's travelling with him instead. gillion, now hopeful that he can redeem chip, lets it slide, but. has chip promise to cool it on the demon shit.

the reason why gillion couldn't sense chip being a demon for so long is because he, for some reason, doesn't feel fiendish to him. unfortunately, gillion is too stupid to further entertain this train of thought.

both gillion and chip regain power at the same rate, though their progress is accelerated whenever gillion feels they did something good, and when chip is feeling angry. (this will eventually change)

chip is very bad at being a demon, to the point where he's begun talking jay out of vengeance entirely because it makes him feel bad about making her worse. gillion, ironically, says she should hold herself to her principles and seek justice, in a comical subversion of the angel and devil on her shoulders. they have many an argument about this.

nobody knows chip is Fallen. its one of the main sources of his insecurities and hed rather not have gillion judge him harder, thank you very much.

when chip is offered to have a memory removed by blangus, he attempts to remove his memory of being an angel. this doesn't work, because the memory is a core part of What he is and forgetting that would unmake him. he decides to give up killing a man instead.

gillion's destiny is to bring the rapture. kind of a bummer! gillion's a little in denial about it and the longer he spends with humanity and witnesses their good and their bad and the hope they all carry within them, the more reluctant he is to fulfill his purpose. (it's fine. he has 6 more months to decide. its fine. it's fine. time goes painfully slow for mortals)

eventually the truth of chip's past is revealed, and gillion is Pissed, though not at chip. in hindsight, it's obvious that he was created to replace chip when he Fell, meaning if not him, chip would have been the one to end the world, and that thought sits worse for him than imagining himself doing the deed. perhaps when he gets back to heaven he will demand chip's status be reinstated.

chip is caught between encouraging him to forsake his destiny (he likes humanity, and he likes fucking with heaven's plans) and going along with his destiny to not get kicked out of heaven. falling is painful and awful and he cant imagine gillion playing any role other than good, and he doesn't want him to, because if you're not With heaven, you're a victim of the rapture, and he doesn't want that.

gillion is already halfway on his way to letting himself fall on purpose the more he spends time with jay and chip. he wants to be with chip as long as he can be but every time they touch gillion gets the feeling hes skating on thin ice.

jay is the safest pirate on the sea in terms of other demons and angelic presences trying to fuck with her, both gillion and chip have a deal to smite her father next time they see him.

in chips solo mission with price, he ended up sending him to hell instead of giving him the eye. it is not at all disconcerting that chip can do this

edyn is an angel who helped raise gillion and gave him an immortal soul as a pet. when he was sent to earth it manifested as a frogtopus, and after gillion was sent away edyn followed him to earth and settled down in allport to keep tabs on him through the navy

caspian is Lizzie's guardian angel

alright jrwiblr place your bets! Who's gonna win the best ship in all of mana?

I think Pistolwhip will win it all. I'm not totally confident in that tho I think FnC is very strong too. Or maybe swordfish will be a surprise sweep I dunno!! but can't wait to find out !!

my personal (very long) thoughts for each bracket under the cut :)

First round is done already, so I'm going from there

Gillion/Felipe vs Chip/La Alma I think gillion/felipe beats la alma/chip. Felipe stuck around for longer than la alma and felipe and gil talked a lot about how close they were so I feel like they take it.

FnC vs Rosewater: I think fnc takes easy. everyone loves lizzie and caspian and maybe it's just me but I don't really see them together, but I feel like a lot of people like fnc lol

Navy seal vs sharpshooter: honestly I thought navy seal would take this at first, but it almost lost to sailor song, so I think sharpshooter might actually have a shot here. Personally I like sharpshooter so I hope it wins :)

Watergun vs Lizzie/Caspian/John: honestly could go either way with these two. but I feel like (minor spoilers for most recent riptide ep!!) because of recent events w/ drey and finn and the fact that a lot of people ship lizzie w/ jay I think watergun might win?

Poly pirates vs Artemisanchor: poly pirates probably take this one. tbh I would be shocked (but not upset) if artemisanchor won here lol

Seashell vs Capt. Tastrius/Ezme: I mean cmon. seashell has to take right? the communist jay wives have to come out for this one.

Swordfish vs Jay's Harem: literally no clue tbh. the fight of the century. I feel like it'll be swordfish tho. it's pretty popular and lots of canon ties (it's also prob my top & the one i want to win so I am Not biased).

Pistolwhip vs Roofus/Amber: another strong pair imo but... I love roofus and amber but pistolwhip is just so. I feel like the lesbians will pull this one out too

Round 3 for fun~ (assuming that my predictions will be right, I'm not that confident in them but it's too confusing otherwise lol)

Gillion/Felipe vs FnC: again I feel like fnc will be a top contender so I have to assume it wins.

Sharpshooter vs Watergun: these are the ships I think I'm least confident will actually win lol but if they do end up this way I think sharpshooter might win?

Poly pirates vs Seashell: probably seashell. I didn't realize until now how often jay is shipped with people lol but I feel like everyone just wants her to have a gf and I agree tbh

Swordfish vs Pistolwhip: oh god. like my two favorite pairs vs each other if it ends up this way. I have to assume it'll be pistolwhip (but i will be voting swordfish dont tell)

Round 4

FnC vs Sharpshooter(?): I'm not sure who will actually make it this far but cmon fish and chips is so widely shipped it has to beat whatever ends up here right?

Seashell vs Pistolwhip: whatever gets paired here will probably end up losing to pistolwhip (or swordfish if they make it!!) because it's such a strong pair I think.

Round 5

FnC vs Pistolwhip: would it be so basic of me to assume that fish and chips will win this whole thing? idk something in me is saying that it's gonna lose to pistolwhip. Or maybe even swordfish. I really don't know I'm looking too far ahead lmao final prediction: Pistolwhip

gonna post about LEC both changing to League of legends EMEA Championship and the rumoured rosters right now since they're all solid except coaches

firstly the changes to the system are going to make the top teams way better i think, bo3 is better and the system is gonna be interesting, but the bottom 2 are going to be really really shafted and i think there's a higher chance of a rookie team blowing up nearly instantly, see BDS

i like 3 splits with winter and spring feeding into MSI, but i think one more cool thing could be the champion of winter (if they keep at least a 3 man core etc) facing the spring champion to actually qualify, since right now it feels like some teams will use winter split as a testing grounds and might create a "winter split doesn't matter" narrative which i desperately do not want.

summer is ending with something similar in the the big season finals, which I like a lot, and especially because the new format means that you can't coast in off of championship points like G2 and MAD did, which ended up sending what i think was one of the surprisingly weakest european teams ever to worlds, so i do hope winter and spring feed more directly into MSI with that suggested Winter Champ vs Spring Champ to qualify into MSI

but i like the format changes overall, it feels like a good first step and i'm way more into this than LCS's 8 team playoffs that looks like a fucking fiesta until top 2/3/4 and means that a team can coast and play like absolute fucking hogshit until they reach playoffs

god it's so good they got rid of xmatty, he looked lost and alone in LEC and played really really badly for almost every game. even during jinx/zeri, but i genuinely don't know if crownie will be an upgrade. objectively? he's better, but his vitality run was really really underwhelming and he often demanded resources despite not using them effectively, depriving his topsides and usually just

not doing well

replacing cinkrof is a clown move, the man was dragging BDS to relevance while nuclearint had the occasional popoff, and the fact that he's teamless is utterly stupid, but whatever i guess people don't trust him after the OG run back in 2017 and then the cursed bds lineup.

if labrov and adam don't show the form they had in 2021 summer and ERLs respectively, bin the whole thing honestly

nuclearint seems like he'll be the "franchise" for BDS, which you know what, you could do worse

AST:

it's such a nothing roster, Finn was good as heck but usually got outclassed if he couldn't cheese a matchup on kled or irelia, 113 was the worst part of kcorp, dajor is Fine and probably a cheap pickup, and kobbe/jeonghoon are the only real chance they have to secure a top 8 finish, which they're gonna fistfight SK for i think

SK:

speaking of SK, after they made a big song and dance privately about hard investing into reaching higher in LEC, coming back in with sertuss is odd. he was fine? but he was just fine, nothing explosive or insane until he got akali, so we'll see if he keeps growing at the pace he has been

irrelevant had a very fucking good rookie split IMO, even if toplane was such a useless island and he crumbled a bit in playoffs, but tbf all of misfits did (rip bunny boys, you will be remembered fondly)

markoon was the shining new star of jungle, glad he has a team, can't wait to see him grow

exakick and doss were really bloody good in ERLs, doss' attitude has already started souring his reputation again, can't wait to see him booted for someone else (this is a joke)

XL:

well XL has my 2 favourite LEC players, Vetheo and Odo, so i know who i'm supporting

patrik/targamas will be interesting to watch after targa's middling worlds, and xerxe's return to EU was undramatic and perfectly fine, can't wait for him to play for 2ish years because he's one of the only veteran jungles left

VTO and odo had great years, and i still think VTO was the best mid player in both spring and summer, so i can't wait to see him be focused by every jungler in the league, and odo to rely so hard on tanks and outperform everyone until people realise a ban button is there

MAD:

i have no clue what to think, nisqy went from a new eu golden boy to winner of the dade award at worlds for a truly horrendous performance, chasy was decent? in NLC but nothing insane or impressive i think, elyoya spent the start of the offseason as the hottest property on the market, only to not be afforded by anyone, and hyli leaving fnatic was an unfortunate inevitability after the absolutely horrible performance he had in groups

but i think the most questionable pickup in the whole goddamn league was carzzy. i personally do not understand why carzzy was ever rated, i don't think the guy had a SINGLE good performance on VIT, and was usually the weakest member of MAD if armut got gnar, so why he's back on mad, with hyli no less is such a huge question mark. i don't really *want* them to succeed unfortunately, but they'll probably get somewhere with nisqy's shotcalling and elyoya's raw mechanical prowess

G2:

letting jankos go was the worst possible decision, but yike is a promising prospect after a good ass year on LDLC, caps hopefully can look more claps again after his insane playoffs run in spring, and BB is right now the second best eu toplaner by virtue of toplane in eu being such a bad role. the botlane is where all the hype is, and if hans/miky show up the way that that 2018 msf botlane did then G2 might have a chance

FNC:

fnatic's roster only swapping the botlane is probably the best course of action for it?

a lot of bad rumours around upset, and the really good temporary performance by rhuckz, and return of the king :)

honestly i think i'm just happy to see rekkles in black and orange again, and rhuckz looked very promising after his performance at worlds, so we'll see how fnatic does after super long of their insane aggression with bwipo and hyli

HRTS:

no clue about how this team will do, but i think they'll be the most fun to watch. jackspectra was probably the best ERL ADC, mersa was insanely confident and looked promising if nothing else?

the big one about HRTS though, is Evi and Jankos

frankly this is the coolest pair of signings this offseason, after it looked like jankos would miss out on spring/winter, and evi being the first ever japanese export. evi's a monster on urgot, a beast on kennen, and honestly was one of the stronger tops in playins and would've been in groups had DFM gotten there. really looking forward to seeing him there!

KOI:

previously rogue, their only change is szygenda in the top lane, which might be an upgrade? in erls and previously in LEC he was both a solid carry player and able to play tank duty, with his gwen especially being feared in the ERLs. besides that, the 4 man core who looked very solid at worlds are staying, so i think KOI are a shoein for winners, especially if jarvan stays in meta

VIT:

when i say i have no expectation of vitality it's because they have a terrible track record. after buying their way into EULCS, fielding middling rosters, having the worst import of all time in Hachani, then scraping into worlds 2018, they have yet to really pop off and show europe anything. but they're a big money team, and after going from last place nji and skeanz with milica and benching comp, to a suprisingly fun and interesting core of szygenda/selfmade/lider, they threw it out the window and spent huge money on alphari/selfmade/perkz/carzzy/labrov, only to bench the only functioning part of that and then sign haru who was

Perfectly Fine

and again, they're doing this again, signing kaiser in support possibly the most overhyped part of MAD, never forget the "i wasted flash on leona, time to run under tower because i need to wait 5 seconds for hexflash", neon in botlane who I'm so happy is keeping an LEC spot, blacklisted LPL jungle prodigy Bo and upper tier LCK CL top player photon, i have no clue what to think

bo's a monster, photon seems to be brutally consistent and likely scrimmed vs zeus and played vs thanatos in LCKCL, so i'm expecting more than i would if they signed a different ERL top

some people are probably already saying "ew random korean player" like they did for malrang and jeonghoon, but here's the thing, random korean player can throw hands with the best, and korean players are usually the best, and the signing makes sense since no LCK teams probably needed a new toplaner except for the lowest tier ones, and spending longer on challenger teams isn't exactly the best path into LCK. point is, photon is going to be good, and probably get signings in korea if he dislikes vitality if he shows up, which vs the caliber of tops in europe, he will

final thoughts:

i like the new format, and the teams have made very interesting changes. as for coaches, the only coach rumour i heard is vitality signing misfit's coaching staff, who were world class and took a team who should've been fighting for 6th and put them within 1 bo5 of worlds 2 years in a row. i can't wait for lec this year and i absolutely am going to support XL and HRTS, but i can't say i'm gonna dislike anyone, except BDS, who are physically unsupportable

TL;DR: LEC has a better format and the teams are exploding and reforming in a beautiful way

(bitb spoilers) theres no issue with the shipping i think, its just that people just think that its weird that that's the only thing the community is focusing on? like i saw someone say something along the lines of "rat was literally smeared across the wall but all yall care about is making the pcs kiss..."

oh wait heads up please don’t send me about the gore i’m very weak in the knees abojt this stuff o(-( this situation i get it though so dw. even wording like this just makes bad visuals pop up in my head so I’m ignoring it best as possible 👍 (<- would’ve been fine but I listened to the ep so it feels more Real and harder to ignore when I see the words if that makes sense?)

anyway yeah I do understand that. kinda hypocritical- I could make the same argument about almost every bit of ship content regardless of genre. i think it’s because “romance” and “horror” are so far from each other that focusing on one over the other feels like completely ignoring the other. like.. idk it’s fandom nature to focus on ships lol that’s not gonna change just bc it’s horror. as long as people don’t forget that the source material is, in fact, horror then what’s the problem?

I’ve also seen a lot of bitb art (on twitter at least) that has been marked as having gore in it. and on both tumblr a Twitter the majority of art is either character art or just them three together with no ship stuff. idk! it just seems like.. be the change you want to see in the world ig. talk about the horror more, theorise, encourage discussions, etc etc. if any one of these ppl complaining about bitb polycule but ship fnc welllll..

we’ve only just started what it going to be 3 more episodes of straight up horror content though. i’m sure people will have more to talk about wrt the horror once there’s something more concrete - this episode was about setting things up and that includes the relationships these pcs have with each other - and it’s all incredibly interesting relationships! we don’t have a lot of solid stuff to work with yet wrt thheir characters so it’s easier to just go with stuff like reading into them as queer lol

this is very disjointed I’m very distracted. tldr: I think the fact it’s a horror shouldn’t change the fact that people Will focus on character relationships and that will often include non-platonic relationships and will “soften” the fan content down. if you want to criticise shipping culture in fandom say it with your whole chest not just when it comes to horror content

Ur post about powering thru highnotes made me think of yoo hweseung from nflying recently admitting that fnc refuses to let him work with a vocal coach despite him asking for one and now we r all very worried about his continued ability to hit highnotes without injuring himself. :(

Not "your" post it was a reblog but i saw it on ur blog and then ur comment about ateez reminded me. Which. Jongho. Also an artist whose vocal chords i worry about. I HAVE heard him sing highnotes well and supported but often worry about those "loud push" notes in live performances.

I didn’t even know that about hweseung. that seems so ridiculous to deny him such a simple request that would help his performance. he never struck me as someone who had difficulty with high notes. I always found his voice to be very nice to listen to and he does ballads well though if he isn’t trained, he could seriously hurt himself so i hate that fnc isn’t taking his request into consideration.

With jongho. Yeah. I don’t know. His voice is unique but he doesn’t feel like a trained singer to me. And it’s definitely the mentality that “singing higher notes = better” which is not the case at all. I think these new idols and their companies have forgotten that singing in a range that you are comfortable in is always going to sound better.

So i got me a new phone 2 weeks ago, insralled GF, flashforward to this evening - i dont have any resources, i run out of cores, all my eshelons are 50ish level and i cant beat 4-6. I guess i mught have stupid :( Gimme any advices please or i dunno. Sorry for bothering you, dont know who else to ask/

So! First of all, sorry for my late reply!

Now, on the topic of resources. Try to have logistics running as often as possible. I assume you've only got the starting 4 echelons, so try to have at least one squad constantly out for missions, though two is better. Before you head to bed or any time you're not gonna be playing for a while, send all four echelons on missions. Try to prioritize ammo and rations the most, cause that's what you'll use the most.

For other resources, try to complete as many daily, weekly, and career missions as you can. Additionally, look at the achievements in the Index tab. You can get plenty of things like gems and tokens for free. With tokens you can roll gacha for dorm furniture, which increases dorm comfort, and in turn gives you more batteries daily. Use the batteries to upgrade facilities.

With facilities, some of the most important ones to max as soon as possible are the Data Room and the Forward Basecamp. The better your Data Room, the more exp you earn, which you can then turn into combat reports and fast-track your dolls to high levels. The FOB is great because you basically get free stuff. A small(ish) amount of resources gets currencies that can be used on the black market shop. Sometimes you also get things like cores, tokens, and even 4 or 5 star gear!

But the black market is good because you can get resources like combat reports, cores, and batteries in huge supply quickly. To make the best of the expeditions, use the advantaged dolls as often as possible. They give far better bonuses than just high level dolls. (Though high level helps a bit.) Also, pets determine where your expedition is most likely to explore and therefore what resource they are most likely to collect. Dogs like the snow, cats like the city, birds like the forest, and "others" bring you to the wasteland.

On that note, upgrading the pet rescue centre is helpful to the FOB. More pets means you're more likely to have the advantaged pets of the week. Also, pets in a dorm give a bonus 1000 comfort points up to three pets per dorm, meaning more batteries. Which means you can buy more pets and upgrades. Lots of growth in GFL is exponential.

Now, back to some of the other resources I was talking about. Gems. The gacha currency that lets you buy the other gacha currency. Some of the most important investments for your early game gems are echelons and dorms. More echelons means you can have more teams on logistics runs. More dorms means more batteries. Extra repair slots are also nice, so that can be a secondary goal for your gems. The monthly gem card is a good deal if you're willing to spend some money. 5 bucks (Canadian) gets you 30 gems a day for 30 days, 900 total. Sometimes there's also a rate up on the cards, getting 60 daily for a week.

Next, let's talk about things that burn resources. One of the things I did at the start was not at all understand crafting. More resources aren't immediately better. There's plenty of guides on maximizing your resource value per roll, providing you know what you want to roll for. For your four daily crafts of dolls (this gets you a free token, same for equipment!) either go bare minimum, or 130, 130, 130, 30. This can get you a decent chance at 3, 4, and 5 star dolls for low prices, and if you get duplicates of dolls you've trained, you can retire them for 1, 3, and 5 cores respectively. (However, many 5 star pistols are among the few dolls that are truly worth raising duplicates of.)

At the same time however, higher rarity dolls are expensive to raise, especially early on. If you don't have a duplicate of a doll when dummy linking, you will use cores. 2 stars will need: 1, 1, 2, and 3. 3 stars will need: 3, 3, 6, and 9. 4 stars will need: 9, 9, 18, and 27. 5 stars will need: 15, 15, 30, and 45 cores for maxed dummy links. See how this can burn cores? Especially when you're more likely to have duplicates of less rare dolls?

Try to focus on some of the better 2 and 3 star dolls! You'll find that plenty of dolls are better (or worse) than their stars suggest.

Of 2 stars, M1911, M1895, PPK, M3, MP 40, FN-49, BM-49 (VM-49), G3, Galil, SIG-510, LWMMG, MP-446, and cutecat IDW have all done me well.

From the 3 star pool: M9, G17, Ingram, Skorpion, STEN, M14, (quite possibly one of the best girls in the game, even pre-MOD3 she can beat many 5 star rifles and ARs!) SV-98, FNC, M2 HB, and GSh-18 are choices I've found quite helpful.

Raising many of these dolls is also good because later you can unlock their "MOD" upgrades, 1 through 3. This gives them extra abilities, better stats, unique equipment, new art, and some side stories! Though this is more endgame content.

Another thing. Even though I listed a few MGs in there, for now, try to avoid MGs, and also shotguns. They use lots of ammo and rations respectively. They're more for endgame or weird stuff.

As for getting through lots of the early story. Use the AR Team members. Do not sleep on them. Eventually they will become purposely overpowered for story reasons because of MOD3. They are some of your best dolls for just melting enemies, and M4 is special in that her buff tiles effect ARs instead of SMGs.

For most earlier content, teams made of ARs and SMGs are best. Steady damage and SMGs have good evasion to stay in the fight longer. You can maybe mix a pistol or rifle in there for buffs, or if you need to kill other snipers. Rifle dolls, unlike other units, target the enemies furthest away (within range) first, and work forward. This makes them good for preventing your tanks from getting shredded by snipers with accuracy that out classes your evasion.

Also, having "dummy" echelons can help with clearing maps cheaply. If you are cleaning enemies off a map, you can probably get away with having an echelon for combat, and others that only need to capture nodes. So since they are not going into combat, you can use a single pistol doll for very minimal resource loss if they have to retreat.

As for 4-6 you can likely beat it by having a strong echelon rush to Intruder as soon as possible, with another echelon defending your command post. An ARSMG team should work quite well against her, with the SMGs dodging her attacks and the ARs chipping at her health. As a general tip, flash grenade skills do not affect bosses, but other grenades do, and this can make smoke grenades a good choice as they lower enemy ROF and movement speed. The ROF debuff can keep pressure off your dolls for a little bit. If you need to, have a third echelon behind the one you spawn in the north if they get too beat up getting to Intruder. Then have the fresh squad attack her instead.

Uh. I think that's all. A lot of rambling from me. Probably didn't make it as clear as it should be. But hey, I'm trying, and honestly I'm still sorta noob-ish myself. “Yeah, I can pick up the cake, it’s honestly no problem.”, I said, quickly putting my phone on speaker so I could continue washing the dishes. “Really?! Oh, you’re truly the best and I love you.”, Eunha on the other end of the line breathed a sigh of relief. I just chuckled. “I love you too. And don’t worry too much, the evening will go smoothly - and hey, it’s your birthday, you actually shouldn’t worry at all but have fun!” My friend sighed again, before agreeing with me and promising that she would try to relax a bit before the first guests would turn up.

“Okay, bye then - see you later, unnie!”, we both bid our goodbyes and I hung up. I squealed and pressed one hand over my chest when I turned around and spotted Skylar standing in the doorway of our tiny kitchen. She just began to grin when she saw my shocked face. “Oops, sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”, she said, sounding more pleased than apologetic, and nodded towards the phone in my hand, “Was that Eunha?” I nodded, quietly pocketing my phone and walking past her. “Yeah, she’s kinda stressed about her party tonight, so I offered to pick up her birthday cake. Means I have to leave a bit earlier, but that’s fine with me, I don’t mind.”, I explained, and Skylar rolled her eyes at me, half amused half exasperated. “Of course you don’t - you’re already finished with getting ready anyway, Miss I’m-always-on-time.” I just stuck out my tongue at her and shrugged. “Punctuality is a virtue. One you should maybe try one day too.”, I teased and - before she could retort anything - quickly ducked out of the kitchen, shutting the door of the little room we shared. Our apartment was tiny, but it was ours - we were both trainees and therefore not much at home anyway, plus we would move into a bigger dorm once we actually debuted anyway. For now, we had this teeny tiny flat together, paid for by our families until we were able to make our own money - which would hopefully be very soon.

Two hours later, I jumped up the stairs to Eunha’s apartment, excited to finally see her again after a few weeks. Both our busy schedules made it impossible to see each other more often, but for her birthday, I had managed to get an evening off. Balancing both the cake and a gift for her in my hands, I fumbled for the doorbell and just seconds later, my friend flung open her door, crushing me into a bear hug - she was truly quite strong for such a petite woman. I yelped, trying to keep the cake as well as my gift from being squashed between our bodies, but began to grin from ear to ear. To finally see her again made me really happy, and as soon as I had managed to discard both the cake and her gift in the kitchen, I quickly hugged her back and wished her a happy birthday, playfully ruffling her dark hair. Even though she was older than me by one year, I was still taller - which wasn’t really surprising, I was taller than most Korean women. Eunha smiled and leaned into my side, inhaling deeply. “You smell nice. Is that the perfume I got you for your birthday last year? Oh, by the way - the other guest hopefully show up soon too.”, she said, and I nodded. “Yep, it‘s your perfume. And who’s coming anyway? Anyone I know?”, I asked while Eun Ha finally ripped open my gift, squealing in excitement when she saw I had gotten her the new SHINee album, and the signed version at that. “YOU’RE THE BEST!”, she said and hugged me again, before answering: “Mhm, besides Namjoo, I don’t think so. I only invited other trainees from the 1Million dance studio as well as some old friends from High School.” I just nodded again, before helping her set up the last of her birthday decorations on the little rooftop of her apartment building, where her little birthday party would take place.

Over the next hour, the other guests arrived one after another, bringing gifts, some bottles of alcohol as well as more snacks with them. The new SHINee album was playing in the background while everyone talked animatedly, Eunha doing her best to include me in most conversations. Not knowing anyone besides her and our mutual friend Namjoo didn’t really bother me - I was always quick to make new friends, and immediately hit it off with a sweet looking girl called Jiyeon, who introduced me to a handsome guy named Junsun. He shot me a fleeting smile, before filling three glasses of Soju for each of us. We talked about this and that, mostly about how each of us met Eunha - the two of them because they were dance trainees as well, and me because we used to work the same part-time job - until a last guest arrived. Junsun immediately called him over to us, wrapping one arm around the taller man’s neck and introducing him as his hyung Youngbin. The dark haired man had a very sweet smile and quickly bowed to each of us, before introducing himself again and asking for our names in return. Junsun busied himself with pouring some more Soju for us, and before I knew it, I had already drowned three glasses in under an hour.

I knew it was about time to eat something, so I quickly excused myself to get some of the snacks Eunha had provided for her guests. I didn’t even notice Youngbin following me until he came up beside me, making me jump and squeal in surprise. He laughed and immediately apologized, hiding his smile behind his hands while his eyes formed little crescents. He had a really cute giggle, I noticed, and couldn’t help but laugh with him. “I didn’t mean to scare you, sorry.”, he said, and leaned a bit closer to reach for a kimbap. I waved his apology aside, continuing to munch on some radishes, before asking him: “So, you’re a 1Million dance trainee as well?” He shook his head. “No, not anymore - I used to be, but I’m actually a trainee under FNC Entertainment now. I still dance with the studio trainees sometimes though, and that’s how I met Eunha. How about you? Are you a new dance trainee? I don’t think I’ve seen you before”, he inquired, tilting his head to one side and gazing at me for a few seconds. Now it was my turn to shake my head. “No, I’m not a dance trainee - I actually definitely have to do some serious work on my dancing. I’m a trainee under WJ Entertainment though - but I’m more gifted with singing and rapping, not so much with dancing. Our agency is quite young, and we don’t have many trainees yet, but I hope I’ll be able to debut soon.”, I explained, and Youngbin pursed his lips, thinking hard. “Yeah, I don’t think I’ve heard of WJ before. But well, if they’re quite a young company, it makes sense, I guess. Was it always your dream to become an idol?” I shook my head again. “Oh no, not at all. My audition was kind of an accident, I guess? I was only there as moral support for a friend who auditioned, but was asked to perform something as well. Apparently, they really liked me, because I got signed that very same day.” Youngbin just made an impressed noise, before beginning to pile food onto a plate to take back to where Jiyeon and Junsun sat, patiently waiting for us to join them again.

We continued our conversation for the rest of the evening, and I quickly realized how easy it was to talk to him - it truly felt like we had known each other for half an eternity already. He told me about his aspirations, and that he had always dreamed of becoming an idol, but that his one true goal in life was actually to become a dad one day, and to have a family of his own. My heart melted at his words, and I couldn’t help but squeeze his arm in understanding - one of my dreams was having my own family one day, too. I told him about where I grew up - in Busan, right by the sea -, and how I missed the salty air and fresh breeze here in Seoul. The sea and water in general had always held a strange fascination for me, maybe twinged with a little bit of fear. Youngbin began to giggle uncontrollably when I told him that I always called the sea “scary yet beautiful fish soup”.

The rest of the night flew by: we drank way too much Soju, had at least ten laughing fits, talked about literally everything and anything - from politics to philosophy to our favorite snacks to our most embarrassing childhood stories -, and by the end of the night, when the sky was slowly turning from midnight blue to hues of grey and finally soft yellows and reds, we bid Eunha goodbye. Youngbin and I strolled around the quiet and deserted streets of her neighborhood, each of us holding a bottle of water to quickly get rid of the alcohol in our systems. We discovered an empty playground and sat down on the two swings, but were more swaying than really swinging on them. We stayed quiet for a few minutes, but it didn’t feel uncomfortable or awkward - it felt just as natural as talking to him.

Finally, he looked at me, his warm, dark eyes full of uncertainty all of the sudden: “Do you sometimes feel like you’re not enough? Like you won’t succeed in anything?” His voice was quiet, and I couldn’t help but reach out and take his hand in mine, squeezing it lightly. “Oh yes, way too often, actually. But being insecure is part of growing up and of finding yourself, and the only thing we can really do for now is to push forward and to try and improve ourselves, every day a bit more. Don’t ask how, but I know you’ll succeed - that we both will succeed, one day. But if you ever feel the need to talk to someone about your feelings - please know that I’ll always have an open ear for you. I’m your friend now.”, I answered softly, and he gave me a sweet smile. “Thank you, Haemin-ah. I’ll make sure to remember that - and the same goes for you. Just give me a call or send a quick message, and I’ll be there for you, always.” I tilted my head to one side and returned his smile.

I already knew that this was just the beginning for us - the beginning of a deep and amazing friendship.

In all honesty, ever since I saw this yesterday for the first time I had to contain my happy tears every time I read it ;; More often than not, I find myself struggling to write Ace because as you say, he’s a complicated character. It’s hard to convey this inner battle he has constantly of logic vs feelings and manipulation vs self identity and at times I’m not even sure if through my writing I can achieve that struggle, but I try. I think that the fact that Ace is complex in so many areas is what adds to the difficulty of writing him too, if only because I’m stubborn and I want to tackle down all his edges instead of focusing on a specific area. And let’s not talk about the story and lore overall, because oh boi.

It makes me really happy that you believe that I’m doing justice to both areas that define him as a character despite my own insecurities. Not necessarily because I don’t know the way Ace is, but because I’m worried that maybe I’m not covering everything. Either way, I’m always willing to improve and explore new areas–– including what I built for him in Type-Next with FnC lore woven into it. It’s such a pity that Type-0 didn’t get more involved with it, such a wasted opportunity with everything that the game held.

If I remember correctly, I did tell you something on Discord a while ago, but I feel with confidence of digging more into it due to our conversation and reading you on the dash even though I’m not limiting what I read to our interactions. I love how despite you feel bad for whoever Xehanort gets in touch with (and specifically Ace because we’re both crying always about how he deserved better djfhgh), you keep him in the villain zone and you’re unapologetic for his actions. I’ve seen in many instances people bending that for the purpose of shipping and many things more (I’m warning you Steph, don’t you tease me again or else :|) and you always manage to stay on line with what stays true to him. That’s something big I really appreciate.

Despite what we were shown in KH at the end, I like how you say fuck Disney™ and decide to keep things fair for what someone like Xehanort deserves (because let’s be real, that man doesn’t deserve an ending that is remotely happy). Not only that, but I always hold an incredible appreciation for the fact that you’ve been touching areas that were never touched by the game itself to expand his character and give him depth to make him a round character. Not to mention that I always love the way you tackle the narrative for whichever muse you decide to write, making it fit to them as if it’s themselves the ones writing.

I don’t have much more to say without falling into a repetitive cycle of things I’ve already told you, but let me thank you for taking your time to send me this. It means so much and without a doubt, some of the insecurity I talked about before was muted (and I say some because as much as I hate it, these things don’t go away as easily). I’m so looking forward to explore more of what we established between Ace and Xeha, you can’t even imagine ♥︎

SF9 aka Sensational Feeling 9

@lee-dongmins said they wanted to get to know sf9 so i guess here’s a basic guide to these sweet dumb boys whom i love

ok so sf9 is a 9 member boy group formed by FNC Entertainment (f.t.island, n’flying, cnblue, aoa) at the end of 2k16 on a survival show called Dance or Band, where they went up against another group of fnc trainees that were in a band (who would later debut under fnc as Honeyst).

On the show they were known as Neoz Dance and they have whole bunch of dope af covers on the neoz youtube channel. They won the survival show by performing a song they wrote and choreographed called K.O. and it would later be included on their debut single album.

Before debut the members all acted in a web series called Click Your Heart, with 4 of the boys playing main characters (Dawon, Rowoon, Zuho, and Chani) and the others playing minor characters. It’s pretty small, just 7 episodes that are at most like 15 minutes and it’s a kind of choose your own ending because you can choose who the main girl winds up with out of the 4 main boys.

October 2016 they debuted with Fanfare (a solid bop but pretty average in the grand scheme of the music scene at the time but the dancing is hella good see above gif) and in December they put out a special mv for their song So Beautiful they made for Click Your Heart (it’s genuinely so sweet and filled with holiday cheer and absolutely zero rudeness, something that only it out of all the sf9 mvs can boast).

February 2017 they had their first comeback with Roar (a delightfully saturated mv that we soon learned was the staple of an sf9 mv and with the catchy whisper line of bureureung aka roar/rev the engine that nearly everyone mistakes as something like ‘put it in’ the first time they hear it).

April 2017 we were graced with their second comeback of Easy Love (truthfully this was the first mv of theirs i ever saw and i was hooked). It was the last of their mini albums to have the whole ‘sensation’ motif in the title.

October 2017 was their third comeback with O Sole Mio (they went to california to film at least parts of the mv and wow is it fucking gorgeous and the chorus has like 4 different languages in it so wow talented boys).

February of 2018 was their fourth comeback with Mama Mia! (aka pls stop putting dreadlocks on these poor kids and pls let them be playful more often in things also what a freakin happy bop).

August 2018 was their fifth comeback with Now or Never. It has the classic saturation of a sf9 mv and a smooth sound that makes it perfect for easy listening or hype music. It can sound like the world Jealous is repeated throughout the song but it’s actually Jilleosseo which is the title of the song in korean. (I believe this also the first mv with all members being 18 internationally and they’ve definitely got a more mature visual thing going on.)

They’ve released Japanese versions of all their title tracks with accompaning mvs and some of their B-sides.

With every promotion cycle they also release a self cam of one of their B-sides that is pretty much just the boys being dorks lipsyncing the song and playing around with each other and it’s a beautiful little treat that fills Fantasy (aka fandom name) with warmth. Members:

Youngbin: ‘93 Leader, Rapper, basically a dad in that he tells those jokes and is a source of comfort and stability for the members and always has some kind and wise words to give them, would really love it the members would stop shying away from skinship (Chani it’s always Chani), a flirt?(warning alot of them are flirts).

Inseong: ‘93 Vocalist, Oldest, a complete dweeb and we love him for it, speaks pretty good english because he studied in England for a year and is a smooth operator, was an SM trainee, calls himself a desert fox and is pretty smart, did some acting in a drama, part of what i’m gonna call the flirt line.

Jaeyoon: ‘94 Vocalist, OST veteran, dimples, thinks his butt is great and like he’s not wrong, is in charge of having the Honey Voice and can sing any song in a sweet way, knows poisonous plants and animals, wow look at that one whole flirt.

Dawon: ‘95 Vocalist, Sub-rapper after Mama Mia!, the 4D personality, was on masked idol on weekly idol for awhile and when sf9 went on weekly idol he nearly gave himself away cause he can’t stop being hilarious, a regular member of SBS’ Game Show, flirt line.

Zuho: ‘96 Rapper, does alot of writing and composing for their songs sometimes with Youngbin and Hwiyoung, trained for 8 years before debut, is the classic looks tough but is a cinnamon roll who loves cuddling, the members say he’s most charismatic of them all, is friends with suga (he’s my bias and i have to stop myself from gushing about how sweet and talented he is).

Rowoon: ‘96 Vocalist, Visual, is basically the face of the group and is on shows like Lipstick Prince and does acting in some dramas, likes making sure the other members are cared for, really likes giving affection to Chani (who is never too delighted by this) and Zuho (who is super delighted by this), a pretty flirt.

Taeyang: ‘97 Vocalist, Visual, DANCER like hot fucking damn is this boy a dancer, he and Rowoon are most often the center of dances and it’s fucking because he is an amazing dancer and works so super hard at being good, he is also literal sunshine.

Hwiyoung: ‘99 Rapper, Sub-vocalist, somehow ends up the brunt of poor luck, studies hard, very emotional and openly admits to crying at Train to Busan even though no one asked him, called the Happy Virus, can wiggle his ears, does kick boxing and will kick you in the butt if you ask.

Chani: ‘00 Rapper, Vocalist, Maknae, child actor, used to be Fantagio trainee, childhood friends with Moonbin and Chanwoo from iKon, actor now and wow the kid’s got some heckin movies under his belt, would really like for people to think that he’s cool pls.

Post-Episode 4 PD48 Top 12

Alright so I have no idea how often I’m gonna do this. Right now I’m basically just doing an updated one after every episode, but that might change later on to be just doing one after every elimination instead. Here’s a link to remind you of what my previous Top 12 looked like. I’m honestly not even sure what the new one will look like, I’m gonna go through my notes as I write this (yes, I take notes during the episodes, fight me). With that said, find my new list (and potential spoilers) below the cut~

A disclaimer: Jurina would be my rank one, far and away, because I’m honestly just in love with her. However, because she’s leaving the show due to her health, even though she hasn’t done so yet technically, I won’t be including her on this list. I hope she takes a good, long rest and recovers well!! Health is the most important thing.

Takeuchi Miyu (AKB48), Main Vocal - So I said I wouldn’t be talked down from Kaeun as rank one, but here we are, literally a week later. I can’t help it. Miyu’s voice does things to me. She absolutely killed it in the High Tension performance. Miyu has the most unique vocal tone in the show, and for my money she’s also the most vocally talented overall. She has great stage presence as well, and seems a competent dancer.

Yabuki Nako (HKT48), Vocal/Dancer/Visual - Nako is the complete package as an idol already, which is incredibly impressive. She’s capable of handling lead vocal responsibilities, a quality dancer, and she’s got visuals off the charts. Literally the cutest thing. I adore her, and she deserved that record-setting amount of live votes.

Lee Kaeun (Pledis), Leader - Same things I said last time, she’s just great at everything, has shown remarkable leadership ability, and deserves to re-debut. She probably fell on my list mostly because she didn’t get to do much in the Peek-a-boo performance.

Lee Chaeyeon (WM), Main Dancer - Not much has changed here. Still strikes me as the best dancer of the participants, handled main vocals on Very Very Very quite admirably, has great stage presence.

Miyawaki Sakura (HKT48), Sub-vocal/Dancer/Visual - She rises on my list this week mostly because of how hard-working she is. She switched positions/parts twice over the course of like three days in preparing for the group battle, and worked her ass off for both. I think the mentors were probably overly harsh on her as center (Mnet playing up the drama, imo), but the fact that she switched off of center and only had one day to prepare and still did everything very well when it came to the performance further proves that she really would be a benefit to any group.

Muto Tomu (AKB48), Sub-vocal/Dancer/Visual - Same as what I said last week. She has a unique vocal tone that I want more of. She’s a stable vocalist, good dancer, extremely cute. One of my (unexpected) personal faves.

Honda Hitomi (AKB48), Lead Dancer - Still the next-best dancer in the show, for my money. Great dancer, learns quickly, teaches the others, is v cute. A+ international girl group material.

Takahashi Juri (AKB48), Lead Vocal - Juri replaces Jang Gyuri on my list at the lead vocal position. She won me over with her performance of Short Hair. That is not an easy vocal song, and she absolutely killed it. She wasn’t the main vocal in her group, but she grabbed my attention with her voice more than her group’s main vocal did. She also just seems like a great person, always willing to help or to sacrifice to do what’s best for the group.

Lee Sian (Stone Music), Vocal/Visual - So I actually spent most of the past couple episodes wondering to myself why people on the show kept talking about Sian as if she was the ace of a group, because I never saw much from her. Well THAT changed. She really grabbed me with her Short Hair performance (on the opposite team of Juri). She has a powerful voice, and strong visuals, and overall seems to be a balanced performer.

Shitao Miu (AKB48), Rapper/Visual - Here’s another one that caught me by surprise. She just wrapped me right around her finger during her Peek-a-boo performance. She nailed the rap verse (which is especially hard being that she had to rap in a second language for her), served looks up and down the stage, and then turned out to also be extremely precious and cute.

Ahn Yujin (Starship), Rapper/Visual/Vocal/Dancer/Everything - Yeah, okay, I can’t justify leaving her off anymore, she forced me to pay attention in Very Very Very. First off, how in the world is she so pretty? Second, how is she so good at literally everything? I already thought she was a good dancer and vocalist, but then she rapped like THAT?? Not fair, y’all. Not fair.

Huh Yunjin (Pledis), Vocal/Visual - Yeah she won me over. I mean, I already liked her from her intro video, but I didn’t have much else to go on. Then she owned High Tension and grabbed me. She’s got good stage presence, very stable vocals (with more potential than she even got to show in High Tension, imo), and she’s a solid dancer, with those good Tall Genes™ and visuals to boot.

So that’s my Top 12 after episode 4! This was a bit harder to do than my last one. Jurina was tough to replace on my list, and there was also a lot more talent on display in episode 4 than there had been before. Other names that just missed the list for me: Jang Wonyoung (Starship), Jang Gyuri (Stone Music), Cho Ahyoung (FNC), Cho Sarang (Million Market), Iwatate Saho (AKB48), Imada Mina (HKT48), Nakanishi Chiyori (AKB48), Kwon Eunbi (Woollim), Park Haeyoon (FNC), Han Chowon (Cube), Chiba Erii (AKB48) (YES I FUCKING LOVE HER, SHE’S SO PRECIOUS AND WONDERFUL AND SHE TRIED HER BEST DESPITE ALL ODDS BEING AGAINST HER AND IF YOU SHIT-TALK HER OR BOOMBAYAH TEAM TWO I WILL FIGHT YOU IRL)

SF9 BOI BIOS

This is originally written for @youngjbambisonyounggyomark but really can be for anyone that wants to know more about SF9, a seriously underrated VERY TALENTED and fun group of boys. First things first! ABOUT THE GROUP!

SF9 stands for “Sensational Feeling 9″ cause there are 9 and they make you feel SENSATIONAL! The fan name is “Fantasy” (which is cute, I get to say I’m a fantasy huehuehue). They’re considered a dance group (you’ll see why when you watch some dance practice videos BOY HOWDY will you) and they debuted in October of 2016.

Now? MEET THE MEMBERS!

YOUNGBIN

Listen I’m not just starting with him cause he’s my bias, I’m starting with him cause he’s the leader. I’ll be honest, when I first started looking up pics of them to learn who they were I didn’t find him the most attractive and then as I started watching more and more videos and vlives I came to realize this hecker had bias wrecked me. I believe the term is Bolmae and he bolmaed the heck out of my life. He is SO good and sweet and funny and he loves his boys so much he’s such a good leader, but the kind of leader that is really laid back. Youngbin is aggressively noncompetitive most of the time. Like he works so hard but when it comes to goofing off he doesn’t really care if he loses at like arm wrestling or something. He does this lil closed eye smile that melts my soul, and he had a minty mullet for their Mamma Mia comeback that also went lavender, silver and blonde WOW so good.He’s in the rapline but an incredible dancer. He says the best feature about him is his hands and they are very good hands. Some people call him stupid but he’s NOT he’s actually pretty smart but he is very TRUSTING and gullible. He takes things at face value and has been tricked easily but that doesn’t make him dumb, if anything it just shows what a sweetie he is.

INSEONG

Now moving on to the oldest, meet Inseong! He speaks English pretty well as he did study in London for about a year. He is fluent but sometimes when he’s put on the spot he’ll forget words and it’s suuuper cute cause he gets so embarrassed. He has dimples that could knock you out, but despite this sweet face don’t be fooled, he’s about six feet tall (most of the boys are at least 5′10″ actually!). The other members consider him the smartest which makes sense cause he’s from a well off family who made sure he had access to a great education. He definitely can come across as a little spoiled but it’s actually really endearing cause it’s really just him putting on an act about getting sulky or offended. The entire hyung line act like goobs together and are the most delightful obnoxious trio. Inseong also has a thing with chairs, he’s either tripping on them, falling out of them or carrying them around which seems random but what some videos and you’ll see what I mean.

JAEYOON

Gaw this group is FULL OF VISUALS and Jaeyoon is leading the pack. More dimples and a smile that would melt a glacier. The other members consider him the manliest of all of them and I think everyone can acknowledge he got the best booty of all (I’ve got more pics, I can share). He seems like a pretty laid back guy and doesn’t get shaken easily but actually he IS SO SCARED of roller coasters and haunted houses n stuff it’s precious. One time in a haunted house he got so spooked he accidentally begged the ghosts not to hurt them cause they’re FNC’s newest girl group - which isn’t far off cause Jaeyoon is excellent with girl group dances! As part of the hyungline that I mentioned before this boyo is hella prankster and is always being silly and loud.

DAWON

This hecker was my original bias before Youngbin wrecked me away. I have a soft spot for clowns and Dawon goes above and beyond. He’s not afraid to pull faces and he’s a great speaker often taking the role of “MC” since he’s so engaging and fun. BUT the thing that really won me over is that for the Mamma Mia comeback he had locs and fans were pretty upset about it. At first he wouldn’t budge because he thought that fans didn’t like the look cause they thought it was ugly and he didn’t want to cave for such a superficial reason (Had that been the case I applaud the mentality!!). Like that is so unusual for people to do let alone celebrities and I’m STILL impressed what a rad dude forreal. Despite seeming like a total goofball he can actually be pretty chic, and he pretty much does whatever he wants. That includes showing off tattoos while parading around shirtless, and sharing the wifi password for the FNC building while on vlive so fans without enough data can stream!

ZUHO

You know that “looks like a sinnamon roll, actually a cinnamon roll” thing? No one fits that better than Zuho. There’s Fantasy’s that believe him to be a big tough hardass cause he’s tall and has a deep voice (like really deep, hot damn). But they don’t come softer than this guy. He can be quiet and reserved but he has a heart of gold and frankly I would personally fight anyone who hurts his precious feelings. Whenever one of the other members is upset or sad, this lil lion baby is first to comfort them. He’s even chastised Youngbin for making Hwiyoung cry in practice by criticizing his dance too much. Another time a member lost part of their meal to a rock paper scissors game, Zuho not only refused to take any of his food but then SHARED his food and it led the others to share more as well. Legit will cry when you watch it if you have any heart. One factoid about him is one that’s brought up fairly often and it’s that he has TERRIBLE sleeping habits. Apparently he’s a big time snorer/sleep talker/sleep walker and shares a room with managers cause it’s so disruptive to the others. Zuho is also the most friendly of the group, he is always social and making friends with anyone he comes across, even Chanyeol from EXO promoted their Narcissus comeback because they’re friends! OH! He also composes music and had a song each on their Sensuous album as well as their Narcissus album! WHAT TALENT.

ROWOON

Speaking of visuals, Rowoon is CLASSIC VISUAL. Tallest in the group at 6′2″ when I first saw him I was kind of blown away, it’s kind of unreal how flawless this guy is. Because he’s so good looking he already does a lot of acting and has separate schedules from the others but when he is with them he is SO MUCH FUN??? Especially his relationship with the maknae Chani. He’s always showering him with affection and attempting skinship (Chani resists) and it’s GOOD. Rowoon does a lot of promoting for the group too, he really does love all his members. Rowoon can be the mom of the group when looking after the others. He’s the best cook apparently, and when Chani was scared of a roller coaster he made sure the maknae got to sit close to leader Youngbin (the dad). He’s not as loud and rambunctious as the hyung line for sure but still fun. He is usually very sweet and respectful in interviews and pretty straightforward in acknowledging that he is good looking which is refreshing.

TAEYANG

Once again this guy is deceptively tall, I was super surprised when I learned that he’s almost 6′ tall. He’s also a killer visual and even better HE KNOWS IT. He knows that he’s a total babe but still manages to be SHY. He definitely has his stage personality and his offstage personality. He has KILLER vocals and even amongst a group of dancers stands out as one of the best dancers. It’s kind of unbelievable how talented and skilled he is. Taeyang is certainly the sunshine child of the group and a precious lil babe but if you aren’t careful he will knock you out with his sexy moves, especially in the Sensuous and Narcissus eras. But really he is still a baby underneath it all, to the point that he happily plays with the other maknae’s at a trampoline park with abandon, and sings alongs to kids show songs in public despite being shamed by the actual makenae Chani.

HWIYOUNG

This boy. This good and pure child. This sweet little (tall, again) angel baby. This lovely, darling, etc etc. The trampoline park I mentioned earlier? His idea. ((I SAID THIS DURING MAMMA MIA ERA:He still has a youthful appearance but I have no doubt he’s gonna be one of those guys that very suddenly grows OUT and into a stud)) TIME FOR THE UPDATE? Ya this boy SHOOK THE FANDOM in Sensuous era with some long heckin hair and some killer dance moves. He SHONE as front and center and the look is so good it continues to thrive into the Narcissus era. He came in and wrecked a whooooole lotta Fantasy’s. He can be a total sweetie but he absolutely has a mischevious streak, especially when he’s with Chani. Those boys together are Trouble and can get away with MURDER. This dude has a hella deep voice and is a killer good rapper like damn. That being said he does sing on a couple tracks and is quite good at that too?

CHANI

And we finally reach the maknae, the only one in the whole group under 5′10″ (5′8.5″). Also the opposite of Zuho cause he looks like a cinnamon roll but is actually a sinnamon roll and will kill anyone who mildly inconveniences him. A classic evil maknae. He is VERY cute and VERY good at aegyo and like Taeyang is VERY aware of it but is SAAAASSSSSYYYY AF about it. He’s a total brat and it’s a blast cause the others don’t let it stop them even a little when harassing him and to be honest I think he likes it too even when this little baby is telling off his hyungs to act their age while in the same breath stealing their food. Tsundere AF. It’s never not fun having Chani around (except when he suggests a game and then proceeds to disappear while the others play cause he is TAkiNG a NaP WHAT A BABYYYYYY CUTE AH). He starred in Sky Castle which also drew a lot of attention to SF9 which is awesome!

SUGGESTED VIEWINGS!

Okay first things first if you haven’t seen Click Your Heart it’s a kdrama and it stars Rowoon, Dawon, Zuho and Chani and it’s really cute and interesting and I like it a lot. All the boys have at least bit parts in it which I didn’t realize until the second watch through and there’s not that many episodes but definitely recommend checking that out!

For sure check out their dance practice videos, I prefer a lot of them to the MV’s cause the dances are... wow. Dang. Wow. So sharp. So good. But one of my favorites is the a great funny version of O Sole Mio and I’ve watched it like twenty times and it really is what made me fall in love with Youngbin

Even Japanese Celebrities Focus On Them! We Approach FTISLAND’s Pranks and Natural “Humaneness.” What a mischievous bunch. FTISLAND is a Korean rock band but they are fluent in Japanese. During the interview, they suddenly started talking about sexual contents and continuously went off topic. But their humaneness and love for a band captured the hearts of many Japanese celebrities, starting with ONE OK ROCK. FTISLAND’s biggest charming points are main vocal Lee Hongki’s heart stirring singing voice and their boundless LIVE performance. In their 8th album『PLANET BONDS (released April 11th) and the following tour, we hope you see their kind humaneness.

Which Member Is Like An “Avocado?”

―― When it’s been 8 years since a major debut in Japan, you are pretty much done with new interviews. But this is your first time with Livedoor. We want to know about you. Let’s start with guitarist Seunghyun.

Hongki: After drinking, we went straight to Seunghyun’s place. It was so messy. If I was a girl, I’m never going back (Laughs). He’s that kind of a person. Seunghyun: Ah... I’m sorry

―― ^^ What about drummer Minhwan?

Jonghun: He may not look it but he is filled with emotions. Jaejin: And he’s manly...he is very patient, tries hard to understand the other person. He’s a cool guy.

―― What kind of a person is leader & guitarist Jonghun?

Hongki: He has a sensitive heart. Like a jelly or breasts?

―― Hongki, please refrain from sexual content during the interview ^^

Hongki: Eh---!

Jaejin: Isn’t he more like an avocado than a jelly? ―― What do you mean?

Jaejin: I think he is hard on the outside but soft on the inside with a hard seed in the middle, just like an avocado.

―― I see. That’s a good comparison What about bassist Jaejin?

Jaejin: Jaejin is a good person! Minhwan: Don’t talk about yourself (Laughs). Jaejin is the brain of FTISLAND. He always comes up with good ideas. Jonghun: (After using a translator program) He is a hedgehog. Minhwan: Ah, I know! He usually hides his weapon but can strike anytime. Jaejin: I’m a man who does it when I need to!

―― And finally, how is vocal Lee Hongki? Jonghun: He is a hamster. If you just look at him, he looks nice. But he is very clear on what he wants to do and what he doesn’t want to do. So he just keeps doing fun stuff.

Hongki: I’m not a cute animal like that. I’m a chameleon! I keep changing.

Acknowledged by Korea’s Legendary Singer, Hongki’s Vocal

―― It’s been 8 years since your major debut in Japan but 11 years in Korea. I’m asking this late but how did you start as a band?

Jonghun: I can’t dance so I couldn’t be an idol (Laughs). But I was always interested in music. But doing it alone isn’t fun so I thought, it’d be fun to do music together as a band. That’s how I started.

―― Starting with drama『You’re Beautiful,』Hongki has been doing music and acting. You actually acted as a child. Why did you want to be a singer instead of an actor? Hongki: Because I was good at singing (Laughs). In middle school, I went to noraebang every day and everyone told me I was really good at singing. So I sang at a school festival and got recruitment offers from various places. My current agency is one of them. At that time, I was losing interest in acting so I thought it’d be nice to be a singer.

―― If you hadn’t sang at the school festival, you may have not become a singer. Also, who is your most influential artist or song?

Hongki: Korean artist Im Jaebum. His singing voice warms my heart. He is called ‘Rock Daddy’ in Korea. He is a legend. He told me, “you are my son.” He also invited me to many TV shows.

Jaejin: Lee Hongki! Hongki told me, “you are my son.” He said he’ll always take me to LIVE. (Laughs) Hongki: Hey, don’t copy me (Laughs)

JH: For me, it’s British rock band MUSE. But I prefer their old songs over recent ones.

MH: I like American rock band Hoobastank. Before debut, we went to see their LIVE. It was my first time seeing them and I nearly cried.

Seunghyun: I’m influenced by Japanese artist Ozaki Yutaka’s ballad songs. They really touch my heart. I also like ‘Forget Me Not’ remake by Shimizu Shota.

From Arata Mackenyu to Ayano Go, FTISLAND Has Many Japanese Celebrity Friends.

―― In『Primavera』released in 2015, FTISLAND collaborated with ONE OK ROCK’s Taka and the two bands’ friendship is famous among fans. What do you talk about with ONE OK ROCK members?

Hongki: We talk a lot about music. We ask about the music we are doing now and songs that we are working on.

―― In February, ONE OK ROCK had a concert in Korea. Hongki: Many Japanese bands are doing LIVE in Korea lately. Taka told me, “I’m going to Korea. I want to see you.” But I couldn’t go to the LIVE because I had a shoot for drama ‘Korean Odyssey.” The shoot ended around 3:30 a.m. so I went to see him briefly. So I ended up going straight back to the drama set without sleeping (Laughs). Jaejin went to the LIVE.

―― How was ONE OK ROCK LIVE?

Jaejin: There are many Korean male celebrities who are fan of ONE OK ROCK. So I went to LIVE with them. It was great. It’s one of my TOP 5 LIVES. I’m not in a position to judge but I want to tell him, “it was great!” ―― Which part of LIVE did you like? Jaejin: When we do LIVE, we don’t put cameras on stage. But ONE OK ROCK shot from the stage and showed that on the screen. Seeing that, I thought cameras aren’t as distracting as I thought. The video of fans singing together looked pretty. I want to try that at our LIVE too.

―― You found a hint for your LIVE.

Jaejin:Yes. I can learn from other band LIVEs.

―― I want to hear about your friends. At last December’s『FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN』actor Arata Mackenyu came to see your LIVE.

Jaejin: That’s right. I don’t have any younger friends so Mackenyu is cute (Laughs). A friend introduced us and we became close. Mackenyu isn’t like a party animal. I think he just really likes to chat with a bunch of guys. He is cool, works hard and has a clear idea of what he wants to do. Even though he is young, we stay as friends.

―― Hongki calls actor Ayano Go “girlfriend” ^^ Hongki: Not just Ayano Go, I have many Japanese celebrity fans. A friend introduces me to his friend so I got to know many of them (Laughs). I think we are good at Japanese because we made many friends in Japan. But it’s hard when they all come to Korea.

―― Why?

Hongki: I’m speaking Japanese in Korea. But when a Japanese friend comes to Korea and introduce him to my Korean friend, I have to translate Korean and Japanese (Laughs).

―― That sounds hard. Earlier, you talked about ONE OK ROCK LIVE in Korea. It doesn’t look like a band culture is that big in Korea. What benefits do you think Japan have for bands?

Minhwan: Japan has many rehearsal studios. I’m jealous of that because there aren’t that many in Korea. From big concert venues to small stages for amateurs, there are countless options in Japan. But there aren’t even that many LIVE houses in Korea. So there’s not many opportunities to see bands. I’m sure there are some kids who don’t know about bands. You only see idols on TV.

―― If Korean children tries to do a band, where do they practice? Minhwan: A school or a church. Jaejin: In Korea, a street called Hongdae is the music street similar to Simokitazawa in Japan. But it has very few studios and LIVE houses.

Gaming in PC Room, How They Enjoy Japan.

―― You’ve come to Japan several times. How do you have fun in Japan? Seunghyun: I went to a PC room in Nagoya to play a network war game that I’m addicted to (Laughs). The members said they’ll come later so I made an appointment and got there first, downloaded the game and waited. I often go to a PC room in Tokyo too.

―― You come to Japan and still play a game?

Seunghyun: Yes (Laughs). I do think I should stop when I’m in Japan but other than that, I’m the happiest when shopping, taking a walk, drinking craft beer and eating delicious food.

―― In Korea, bottled beer is the main alcohol.

Minhwan: I don’t really go out...But when I come to Japan, I want to eat ramen or natto.

―― Can you eat natto?

Minhwan: Yes, I really like it! I always eat natto before LIVE. Jonghun: I often go to art galleries or art exhibits.

―― For your first Indies album『So long, Au revoir』released in 2009, Jonghun painted the jacket picture. What do you paint lately? Jonghun:　For『So long, Au revoir』I painted a moon. Now, I’m drawing a star. I don’t just draw space.

―― Jaejin?

Jaejin: I enjoy local Japanese food like Misonikomi udon in Nagoya. I like food that doesn’t exist in Korea. It’s like with green vegetables and has sticky white balls in the middle...(Draws a picture).

―― Ah, that’s okura. Jaejin: Okura is delicious. Ah, you can find it everywehre in Japan (Laughs).

―― Hongki? Hongki: I enjoy going out for a drink with friends. I sometimes drink Japanese alcohol. I like Highball.

「If you keep the bond, you can reach your dream」The Message In The Album

―― 8th album『PLANET BONDS』comes out April 11th. What message is in the title song 『Hold the moon?』

Hongki:　I wrote『Hold the moon.』 It’s main theme is “hope” and “dream.” “BONDS” in 『PLANET BONDS』 means ties. There are many kinds of ties. FTISLAND met by ties. We included the message that if we keep the bonds, we can reach the moon, which represents our dream. In『PLANET BONDS』jacket, we are going up the staircase to the moon.

―― I see. Where will FTISLAND go in the future? Hongki: We’ll buy about 3 buildings and tour via a private jet. (Laughs).

―― The album has 10 songs. Please tell me your favorite song and recommend the best time to listen to it. Hongki: Mm~ I like all of them... Once you listen to『SAYONARA,』its melody and lyrics will stay with you but...I guess I have to pick『Golden.』I hope you listen to it when you lose self-confidence. I wrote its lyrics. It goes “yourself is the most handsome, the coolest.” I hoped it’d boost self-confidence. There are ups and downs in life. When there are good times, there are also bad times. But you are still the coolest so you don’t have to worry.

―― Then the lyrics are based on Hongki’s real experience. Hongki: That’s right. I like myself the best so I trust myself the most. I get angry when I fall but I get up in the end. I went through several of them in life but I try to forget the bad right away. I don’t drag the past along. I hope everyone does the same.

―― Jaejin?

Jaejin:　『Skyway.』I recommend you listen to it while showering in the morning. It has good beats and it’s a very romantic song.

Jonghun: I pick『FLOWER ROAD.』All the members sang it and I hope we sing it together at LIVE. Minhwan: I also pick『FLOWER ROAD.』

Seunghyun: I like『SAYONARA』 and Jaejin’s 『Dancing on.』It’s fun to perform『Dancing on.』I look forward to performing it at our next LIVE. Minhwan, isn’t it hard to drum for Jaejin’s song? Minhwan: No problem! Jaejin: As expected, FTISLAND’s drum is so dependable!

――Following the album, arena tour『FTISLAND Arena Tour 2018 -PLANET BONDS- 』begins April 26th. FTISLAND’s charm is always LIVE! Hongki: Yes, we only have LIVE. I think our LIVE applies ointments on our fans’ heart. I think it’s healing.

―― Which song from the album would be the most fun to play at LIVE? Hongki: We haven’t done it yet~ Every song is different. Some songs can be more fun to listen to than when performed LIVE. So we don’t know until we try them. I’m looking forward to everyone’s reaction!
