Taemin leaving SM; a retrospective rant from a severely uneducated and overly caffeinated fan.
I have thoughts about Taemin leaving SM and by extention Onew too. Might as well drag Minho and Key into this.
Since this is majorly about Taemin, let's talk about him first.
Taemin & SM (pre-NGDA era)
Taemin has been with the company for 16 years, closer to 19 if you count his trainee days. As an older shawol (LLO-era, got me whipped BAD), it was seriously out of the blue that Taemin would be the first to debut solo. SM at the time (i.e in their prime) was a vocal powerhouse and I genuinely thought Jonghyun would be the first one to go solo. SM made the right decision dedicating time and resources in letting him shine and 'Ace' was a phenomenal debut album for Taemin and really stamped that 'Taemin vibe/sound' we all know and love' Generally speaking SM not the best for promotions/scheduling, but the company still had their shit together when 'Move' came out, it felt like it was everywhere and surpassed the noteriety Guilty had achieved. I feel like when Taemin does variety shows, up to now, Move was always the most referenced and remembered act, even amongst the junior idols, that he did and thats because SM did go hard on promoting that song and picked a quiet month to do that comback in.
Taemin vs SM (during/post-NGDA era)
Somewhere along the lines, SM really dropped the ball with promoting Act 1 especially during Taemin's 'Criminal' comeback. They heavily prioritized their newer groups and suddenly their legendary acts were getting shafted with poor promotions and what felt like less dedicated management and resources. I recall, SM postponed the release for Criminal, squashed Taemin in Super-M activties and focused on their new acts while simultaneously over working them (honestly Mark has had such a hectic few years). My internal speculation/assumtion is that, SM figured that acts like SuJu, EXO, SHINee, GG and RV and solo/ duo units, wouldn't need as much dedicated promotions because they are iconic acts and they are fully dependant on fanbases to generate the buzz. Which leads me to my main hypothesis that after a few years of being active, SM really does not care about an artist anymore. Mind you artists that put them on the fucking map to begin with. SM won't double down on these artists because they believe they can't appeal to a younger audience. With the shitshow that was the Criminal promotions. SM really didn't do any better with 'Advice'. Pinning aespa's comeback a day before was a low blow instead of focusing on the talent that's about to go into the military, if they are aware enough to give Taemin a mini comeback so his relevancy sticks throughout his service, why damage it with an aespa release (that felt like it was to tactically avoid facing off the BTS release later than month) and basically doing NOTHING bar announcing pre-orders. Then we enter the 'Guilty' era. Which as we saw was a hit, but mainly because SM capitalized on the power of social media trends, placing Taemin in VARIOUS online contents and slowly dropped related media during winter. I mean we are still not over his 'Guilty' era, the Metamorph concert still has us at a chokehold. I 'd like to think that Taemin became more vocal in what he wanted and expected out of SM when he came back. Obviously the priority to them is/was SHINee and that's fair. DCM did really well with promos (althoughlike most shawols would say, LSM did have a major part to play with that). HOWEVER it was their 15th anniversary comeback last year and I feel like SM treated it like it was just another comeback instead of a major milestone. There were no interviews or press releases for Hard, when events were happening, it felt like it was gate kept to just local fans, like it made me feel like I was living under a rock because it was so last minute and I was not aware of anything. I want to believe that just because SM did an okay job now, excuses them for the last 3 years. What's worse is it's undeniable, Taemin lives to perform and it's no secret he sets some high goals and standard for himself and probably the toll 1) not getting to preform Guilty in GDA, despite wanting to and 2) probably not getting a solid backing for touring globally, despite very vocal fan support. I am not sure if anyone saw that SM forecast for the first two quarters of 2024, but it genuinely feels like Taemin knows that him and SHINee will not be a priority after promotions are finished. I hope I am not dense enough to assume that obviously SHINee has spoken about this privately and internally for a while now. It's really something you can't avoid talking about. Taemin has spoken to his hyungs, people in his circle inside and outside of the industry. Hopefully he is well informed and supported and it seems definite that SHINee is still active as a group.
Key vs SM.
Someone has already mentioned it but if anyone was leaving SM for creative freedom, I genuinely thought it would be Key. 'Bad Love' was an amazing release and Key fought with SM to release with his own brand/aesthetic. Because Taemin's imminent departure is so publicized, SM might be keeping the talks with Minho and Key super under wraps and trying to offer a btter deal. Although recently, bar Good and Great, SM has been using Key as a 'Variety' idol than an actual singer, which sucks because Key is super talented and if SM doesn't recognize that star power now, good luck to them. Also apparently, Kany is signed with BPM? I know she is close with SHInee in general, but I would assume it'd be Key joining her ya'know?
Minho vs SM.
Imma put it out there, the promotions for 'Stay for a Night' was lackluster? I feel like they treat solo Minho and SHINee Minho as two separate entities. Like yes there is a dualism of being a group preformer vs solo preformer. But on the rare occasion SHINee does get promoted Minho seems to get more attention, but as a solo artist, I don't feel the same love for his solo promotions. I hope Minho gets to write and contribute more, which I believe he does in the background. If he does stick to SM, I pray they open other avenues of artistry, primarily, he does really well with his acting roles and yes it really helps that he does fit the 'K-drama ML' look.
Onew vs SM
I feel like Onew gets the short-end of the stick out of the rest of SHINee, never mind that the man has the voice of an angel, but again, he is another one that SM never bothered to market right. It kind of make sense that he would want to leave the company and seek ones that would expand his career inside and outside of singing and while the one good thing SM did recently is make sure Onew was healing and taking care of himself, recent SHINee promo activities feels like they are treating Onew's break as a hush hush 'taboo topic' Honestly, bring back the era where our idols would randomly disappear during promotions because they were casted to be on-stage again. I am still forever clinging onto Onew singing opera, because despite him not being trained for that, he has the talent to do so. It'd be nice to hear him produce his own music, or give acting another shot.

Awards Section
This is the awards section of my 2023 retrospective. The other parts of the retrospective are linked below.
Playlist | Prefix | Part 1: Music | Part 2: Anime and Other Media | Awards Section
Song of the Year:
WOODZ – Drowing: WOODZ has Album of the Year secured with OO-LI, no question about that. But when it comes to a single song, as good as Drowing is, I think I just love the EP more as a whole. If he’d just dropped Drowing as a single it might’ve taken the title.
Key – Easy: I can’t give it to Key again. Not three years in a row, and certainly not for this song. Killer or Heartless I could maybe justify, but I didn’t nominate them, I nominated Easy. I can’t even explain why I love it so much. Is it the best song I heard all year? No. But it’s my most played track anyway.
Sam Haft, Andrew Underberg, Alex Brightman – 2 Minutes Notice: I have half a mind to give it to this. Wouldn’t that be funny, a showtune from a YouTube cartoon taking SOTY? Ha. Haha. Hahaha. Haaaaaa… It would be funnier it wasn’t seriously a top candidate for that title.
Winner: King Gnu – SPECIALZ This is it. SOTY for a group I never expected to hand it to. Not because I disliked them or anything, I enjoyed every time they crossed my path. But because SOTY usually goes to an artist I love, and I only know King Gnu from their Anime tie-ins. And normally if a group delivers a song this good I would be digging my way through their albums, but I’m not. This song is special, and don’t want context for it.
Album of the Year:
Key – Killer: A stretch, I’m aware. In fact, the only reason why this isn’t getting the title is because 11/14 songs already released in 2022, and it got album of the year then. It’s by far my most played record of 2023 though, and one of my favorite K-pop albums period.
Onew – Circle: Yeah, I know, just nominate every SHINee solo, will you? No, I won’t. Taemin’s just missed out. See, I’m totally not biased, Circle was just that good. A stunningly beautiful album start to finish.
Ryugujo – 2 Much: Debut of the year, hands down. Ryugujo’s first EP is exactly as fierce as Avu-chan wanted, and I found this group impossible to look away from ever since.
Albums that I regularly listened to in full and therefore get my recommendation but missed out on a nomination, in no particular order:
VIXX – Continuum: Far from their strongest work, otherwise it would’ve taken the title by default. But even with half the members missing, it’s still VIXX, and it’s the best K-pop boy group record released in 2023.
æspa – Drama: I have no excuse; this is just fun. Sometimes you need an EP that isn’t ashamed of being batshit K-pop.
Red Velvet – Chill Kill: Very pretty and cohesive album. SM saves all their pleasant-sounding music for their girl groups.
Purple Kiss – Cabin Fever: Purple Kiss’ best EP to date.
Dreamcatcher – VillainS: Enjoyed this EP way more than I thought I would.
Kiss Of Life – Born To Be XX: These girls are going places.
Winner: WOODZ – OO-LI There was never any doubt about which release would take album of the year, because WOODZ utterly obliterated the competition. Every other nomination, including the Key album that is totally not from the year before anyway, at least has one song I don’t care for. But OO-LI never misses. Not even 7/10 misses. Every single song on this EP stands out, and they come together beautifully. WOODZ is enlisting this January, and I already don’t know what to do without being able to rely on him to deliver great comebacks for the next two years. Come back safely, and never stop making music.
Artist of the Year:
I keep struggling with this one because most of my favorite releases tend to be from tenure artists who drop one comeback and then vanish for the rest of the year. If you asked me who I admired the most, it would be WOODZ. If you asked me who I listened to the most, it would be Key. If you asked me who surprised me the most, it would be Ryugujo. If you asked me who had the most releases I loved though, I’m stuck. The list of artists who released more than one album which I enjoyed is short. Dreamcatcher, Kiss Of Life, æspa, and that’s it, I’m stuck. So you know what? Fuck it. I won’t get the chance to do that again for two years.
Winner: WOODZ Between OO-LI, a world tour, and Amnesia, WOODZ had a great year. He hasn’t missed once in his career, but right now he’s on a level of his own. No one else active this year has delivered this level of consistency and quality. WOODZ is a gem, and I don’t think it’s possible to lavish his music with too much praise right now.
Miscellaneous Music:
Best Music Video: Heartsteel – Paranoia
Best Choreography: Le Sserafim – Eve, Psyche & The Bluebird’s Wife
Best Debut Single: Ryugujo – 2 Much
Top 15 B-sides (no videos, only one entry per artist):
Key – Heartless
WOODZ – Busted
Taemin – She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not
Infinite – Time Difference
Kim Sejeong – Jenga
Red Velvet – One Kiss
Onew – No Parachute
VIXX – Savage
Purple Kiss – T4ke
Dreamcatcher – Propose
æspa – Don’t Blink
IVE – Blue Blood
SHINee – Identity
ATEEZ – Dune
U-Know – Tarantino
Best Insert Song: Helluva Boss – 2 Minutes Notice
Other Media
Game Of The Year: The Legend Of Zelda – Tears Of The Kingdom Not the most creative pick, but sometimes Nintendo delivers, and their games are magical when they do.
Anime Of The Year: Link Click Season 2 Since I didn’t watch everything I wanted to get to, this might change in hindsight, once I feel better and catch up with shows like Oshi no Ko, Vinland Saga, and Tengoku Daimakyou. Jujutsu Kaisen also had a strong season, and Shounen does not get much better than its Hidden Inventory and Shibuya Incident arcs, but ultimately Link Click is the show I cared about the most. Everything in this show feels intentional. Every mystery has a satisfying pay-off, and that earns it enough trust from the audience to expect a satisfying continuation (and hopefully conclusion) in the already confirmed third season. I for one can’t wait to see what happens next and considering the time travel aspect of the show and season two’s final twist, what already happened. I love the characters and want to see them get out of this story safe and sound.
Opening Of The Year: Link Click Season 2 There was competition, certainly, but in the end, nothing touched this masterpiece. They made a song that would sound good played forwards and backwards, just so they could rewind the opening. It looks great and is a great fit for a time travel mystery. I got to respect the craft that went into this.
Ending Of The Year: Oshi No Ko I didn’t have much opportunity to mention Queen Bee in this retrospective, but they delivered on this ending theme.
Movie Of The Year: Oppenheimer I have half a mind to praise Puss In Boots more, but Oppenheimer is a staggeringly well made movie, and I would be remiss if I didn’t give it the crown.

Year 5 - Dear our SHINiest angel:
Tumblr media
Last year I decided to honor your memory with a letter written to you and I really liked that, so I’m going to make it a trend until I find a different way I want to remember you on your death day. Wow… Five years… has it really been that long since we lost you? It feels unreal to be thinking that. It seems like only yesterday that I was waking up to the news of your death. The pain of it still feels so fresh, though I can only imagine what it must feel like for your members and other loved ones. I know that you’re always on their minds.
Tumblr media
It’s been quite a year for your beloved brothers. It started out with Onew making a comeback. You would’ve loved it - it was very Onew without having to be very ballad-y like we’re used to seeing from his solo work. I know you two used to bond over your love for ballads but I think you would’ve approved of him showcasing a new side of himself - the SHINee side. For me, it reminded me of when you released She Is; how it was bright and colorful, super catchy with choreography to match. You would be laughing at hearing all of the new gen K-pop stans that were surprised by this side of Onew because you know as well as us Shawols that Onew is just as capable of releasing a performance song as the rest of SHINee is. That’s the beautiful thing about you, your members, and SHINee as a whole: you’re all multitalented and capable of anything you put your minds to. Onew looked great in the music video and showcased his theatrical side. That would’ve had you laughing, too. That’s another thing you two bonded over: being goof balls together. Onew was your one hyung you had in the group, that one person you could turn to for that Hyung-ly advice when you needed it the most. Yet, I have to wonder if you had still been around for this comeback, if you would’ve been the Hyung in that moment. You and Taemin were the first to make your solo debuts and it comes with a heavy heart that Onew, Key, and Minho had to make theirs after you passed. I’m left wondering if Onew would’ve been coming you on advice for his album preparations. I wonder if you two would’ve sat down together and written songs together that he could’ve included on his upcoming album. On top of that, I wonder if you would’ve gifted any of the members one of your songs like you did with Taemin for his debut album. I know you would’ve done it in a heartbeat because you loved gifting others with your lyrical magic. I can already picture you now: as soon as you found out one of your members was making a solo debut, you would’ve locked yourself in the studios, working on the perfect song that fit that particular member just right. Would it please you to know that now, instead of them being inspiration for you, you’ve become an inspiration for them? Would you be touched? Brought to tears? I like to think so; like to believe that I know so. Key and Minho have both written songs in your honor, and of course we all know that all your members collaborated together to create Our Page, but my hope is that you’ll continue to inspire your members and we’ll get pieces from Onew and Taemin as well.
Tumblr media
Next, we had your Bummie and his comeback. Holly fuck, did he rock this one. Everything your members release is amazing but Key truly found himself with this one. You would be so proud at the amount of involvement he had in this comeback. You know better than anyone how outspoken Key is and this album and comeback one hundred percent shows how much voice he had in it. I love that for him and I’m sure it makes you proud because that was one of the things you did as a solo artist, creating five whole albums made up of nothing but your own creations. You were a legend for that. It goes to show how much Key is sticking to his word: “all my actions are the truth of me and all for you.” Key has been speaking his truth, and though the “you” in his message is very nondescript, I believe wholeheartedly that that he’s referring to you - his Jonghyunnie-hyung. Though his artistic style is definitely his own, I can see your influence shining bright in him. He keeps releasing more and more of his own creations. I mentioned this in my last letter to you, but I have such a strong suspicion that you helped him in the past with his song writing. Maybe you were the one that taught him how or worked closely with him when he was still starting out. Maybe you two would hit the studios together and record demos of the songs Key wrote because you were so excited to guide him into the finished result and leave him with an arsenal of songs he could someday use in the future. I’m sorry that you’ll never get to hear the finished results and stand beside him as you witnessed people’s reactions to them. For my own piece of mind, I like to think that there was at least one song of his that you got to listen to before you passed and the praise you gave him after listening to it helped motivate him to keep writing. You would be proud of how far he’s come and how great the songs are that he writes. His title song, Gasoline, was one he wrote and he fought tooth and nail to have it as his title track despite not many voting for it. That was always something you two had in common - your drive to make yourselves heard and convince others that your choice was the right one. I could just see you voting for it, even though you would have no part in the decision making process. Not because you would feel obligated as his group member but because the song is an embodiment of Key and a song he wrote himself. You always created music that meant something to you without caring how others felt because in the end, it was something you were proud of and made with your own two hands. It would make you happy to see Key following in your footsteps.
Tumblr media
Taeminnie was supposed to return from his enlistment on November 27th, but his discharge date got postponed. It was a real let down but at least he was able to come visit Key at his solo concert. Late last year, he had to be moved to Public Service because of his struggles with anxiety and depression. I bet it worried your members to see another one of you going through that. I can’t imagine how much it scared them and how all of their minds instantly went to you. I can’t blame them, and I hope you don’t either, for immediately worrying that Taemin would follow in your footsteps in the wrong way. That’s not to say that any of us put any blame on you. I think your struggles, your story, helped show Taemin what happens when you leave your mental health unchecked and don’t put in those barriers to protect yourself from getting in too deep. You’ve shown him how it feels for an outsider to experience losing someone to a battle with depression. In my mind, I like to think that it’s because of you that Taemin spoke out about his mental health troubles and told his superiors so that they may grant him a better way of fulfilling his enlistment. Yet, at the same time, I hope Taemin isn’t completing his new tasks and asking himself the same question that you did: did I do well? I hope he’s not further beating himself up and thinking he’s weak because he couldn’t handle the stress of his original placement. Like we did for you, I want us to send Taemin the message that he did do well. He did well by prioritizing his mental health. He did well by not giving up entirely. He did well by not giving into the toxic masculinity mindset of sucking it up and being a tougher man. You helped with that, you know. You were always battling that toxic masculinity by showcasing your emotions and being vulnerable about your troubles. You were a good hyung to your maknae and even in death, he’s still learning from you. When Taemin eventually returns, we’ll showcase that love for him and remind him how great he is; that he did in fact do well. Just like we did for you. Thank you for reminding us Shawols of how important it is to praise our idols for their accomplishments no matter how small they may be. Taemin admitting to having anxiety and depression was a vulnerable moment filled with trust for us as a fandom to accept that about him instead of shaming him. We mustn’t forget that and let him dive back into idol life without thinking of himself first. I want nothing more than to see SHINee reunite, but above all else I want all of our boys to be happy and healthy before that happens. We are a patient fandom and we’ll wait however long it takes for that to happen if it means we get to have all of our boys together, including you in spirit.
Tumblr media
After releasing a couple singles, Minho finally made his solo debut earlier this week. It’s been a long time coming, but like I said, SHINee World is a patient fandom. It was well worth the wait, but I guess you already expected that. You have more faith in your member’s capabilities than I think they sometimes have in themselves. Perhaps that’s another thing you all have in common as the humblest idols in K-pop. You five can never see how hard you work and always claim that you could’ve done better. Yet, when it comes to each other, you can see each other’s efforts and greatness as clear as day, but instead of getting on each other for not believing in yourselves, you build each other up like true teammates. I think Minho could’ve used you in this time preparing for his debut. Not because he’s lacking or needs you there to hold his hand through it all, but because he needs you there to cancel out that voice in his head telling him that everything needs to be perfect. I think that’s part of why it took him so long to get to this point. Minho has all the talent, all the drive and ambition to release a stellar solo album, but his need for perfection holds him back. You know how competitive he is - he’ll want to make sure that whatever he releases gets him some kind of win. He could’ve really used you to be there to tell him that not everything is a competition and what’s more important is that he’s releasing something that speaks to him as an artist. As a fellow selfless person, you know the kind of mindset that Minho walks around with and have laid witness to many of his selfless actions. Himself is never the first thing on his mind and alongside viewing an album release as a competition, you know he’ll be worrying about what the fans will think and wanting to make them happy. You’re a perfect example of a solo artist that didn’t lose themselves in the album making process. When you created your first album, you could’ve easily gone to SM and asked for the album to be filled with the songs they believe will be the next big hit. But you didn’t. You had a selfish moment and created a debut album filled only with songs of your own creation because it brought you happiness to share that part of yourself with the world. I think Minho could’ve benefited from you being there to tell him to be selfish for once and do something that will make him happy. Looking at the final result, I think in the end Minho was able to accomplish that. Even though you weren’t here in person to give him that advice, I think you did help in someway. He included a self-written piece, just like you did, and his motivation to have his album follow the rest of SHINee’s inspired others to create a song that matched the rhyming theme with his title song and album name, Chase. It’s yet to be said, but I believe that the lyrics for the song are a reflection on Minho’s feelings towards losing you. He might not have written it himself, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t thinking of you when giving directions on the kind of song he wanted to promote and the message he wanted to convey. I believe in thinking of you and SHINee when creating this album was his own selfish moment that he desperately needed. I’m glad that he was able to find that in the end, and I’m sure you are, too. You would’ve been the first one to praise him on how well he did. I hope he can hear it, in his heart, because once again he’s falling into that same humble SHINee mindset that he needs to work harder. I hope when the day comes when all of you can reunite in the afterlife that you’ll be the first one to tell him, and all the SHINee members, that they did well.
Tumblr media
It feels right to end this letter talking to you about Minho’s official solo debut because as Minho keeps reminding us, he’s the final piece to the puzzle. SHINee’s solo album collection is finally complete. Again, we have you to thank for this because you were the one to start the trend by “plagiarizing” Taemin’s album design. It was such a silly joke the two of you made at your solo debut party. If only you would’ve known that you were the trend setter in all of this. You inspired Key to follow the same album design when he made his solo debut, and Onew continued it, even though it’s only in Korean that the album titles rhyme. It was still a style choice that they decided to follow because of you. If it weren’t for you “plagiarizing” Taemin, we would never have the beautiful collection that we have now. You were also the one that once said that even when SHINee is apart, you still come together in the end. Like pieces of a puzzle, these albums represent the individual styles, colors, and personalities that make up SHINee. It’s such a beautiful concept and metaphor because really, all of you shine so brightly when you stand alone, but you shine the brightest when you stand together as Shining SHINee. Thank you for “plagiarizing” Taemin. Thank you for wanting to remain connected to your group even when you stand alone. Thank you for starting something that gives all of us, the fans and your members, a way of staying connected to you even though you’re gone. It’s the most precious gift you could’ve given us, even if you didn’t realize the significance of it at the time. Were you always secretly hoping Onew, Key, and Minho would continue the trend? Were you hoping to one day display them all together? I know you would have because your members mean so much to you and you would be so proud of them you just couldn’t help showcasing it. I can picture you taking one of your cheesy closed-eyed selfies with all of them like a proud appa taking a family photo with his children. SHINee is truly a family, a family you helped create, and though you might not be related by blood, a stronger bond ties all of you together. In a way, these solo albums are like a physical representation of what it would be like to be tied together through blood. It was your combined efforts, you blood, sweat, and tears that created this invisible tether that will forever bind the five of you together. You all will find each other again, whether it be in the afterlife or in another life, I truly believe with all my heart that the five of you are meant to be together. Did SM know what they were doing when they placed you five together? Did they know the kind of magic they were creating? It was destiny, and I’m so, so glad to be one of the billions of people that get to witness that. Bonds like this don’t come around that often. It’s beautiful and I’m thankful every day that I discovered your wonderful group. As much as it pains me that you’re no longer around to witness and physically be a part of it all, you are still here in spirit. I feel you in everything SHINee does, both as a group and individually. Your members were right when they wrote their dedicated song for you, Our Page. This page in SHINee’s story has not ended, not even close, and you will stay together until the end. You will never not be considered a SHINee member and SHINee will always remain five. I look forward to seeing your presence in every SHINee endeavor that’s still yet to come, and though these dedicated posts used to bring me much sadness, I now look forward to sharing that with you for years to come. Next year marks 15 years since SHINee debuted, so I know it’ll be a great one. See you next year, our beautiful angel. You did well, and your members are continuing to do well, and it’s all thanks to you.

Relationship with: SM artists
For JiHo’s relationship with NCT check out the pinned post on my blog. By no means are these all SM artists or is this very detailed and my knowledge in some of these groups is also very limited so please bear with me. If I wrongly represent anyone now or in the future feel free to let me know, but keep in mind all of this is purely fictional.
Super Junior:
Oh dear Lord help poor JiHo
She’s the victim of endless teasing from Super Junior
Since JiHo is pretty sociable she got quite comfortable with SuJu
They might not hang out a lot but whenever they see the girl they’ll approach her to at least greet her (and vice versa, of course)
SuJu also love to bring JiHo up during variety shows to tell a funny episode they had with the girl and “expose” her
Eunhyuk is a bit like an older brother to her, during her trainee days she once walked up to him asking him if he could critique her dancing. He was surprised at how bold she was and could only agree with her because she was so intriguing. He thought JiHo was a great dancer and since that time they became really close, even having each other’s phone numbers and JiHo having Eunhyuk on speed dial. When she was still under-age Eunhyuk became her guardian (not legally) since she has no family in Korea
Red Velvet:
They aren’t really close with each other for a few reasons (nothing bad though)
JiHo joined SM just after Red Velvet debuted and since the group was very busy with promotions and practice JiHo rarely got to see them
Though JiHo was very talented she didn’t have that much training and she was still a little too young when SM thought of adding another member into the group, Yeri had joined Red Velvet in march of 2015 which was clearly an amazing choice
SM also thought, pretty early on, that JiHo wouldn’t be a great fit for the group’s concept and overall look so they quickly stopped considering JiHo to become a Red Velvet member
Even after years passed, JiHo didn’t really get much closer to most of the members, but she respects them a lot as artists
Out of the whole group she’s probably closest with Seulgi and Wendy, who kinda see her as a little sister they want to take care of
Wendy checks up on JiHo every once in a while through text or invites her out to have dinner and drags Seulgi along with her
They look out for her and tease her a lot when it comes to being the only female member of NCT
“You need to be surrounded by a bit more oestrogen every once in a while, JiHo.” ^^
They will give her advice or just try to cheer her up when they catch the younger girl looking a bit stressed
JiHo would love to do a dance cover with Seulgi sometime in the future
SHINee:
Honestly who doesn’t love SHINee?!??
I’m not saying JiHo is secretly a Shawol, but I am saying SHINee is one of the groups that introduced her to kpop
She always had (and still has) so much respect for the group and they are probably the reason she accepted the scout’s request to come to Korea to become a trainee at SM
A possibility to debut under the same company as SHINee?? YES MA’AM
She has a very friendly relationship with the boys
Saying hi in passing or making small talk whenever they end up in the same elevator
Maybe even went to get something to eat together in the company cafeteria, but besides that there isn’t very much interaction
Taemin has mentioned her a handful of times after SuperM formed since he’s in the same group of some of JiHo’s members now
It usually about how he thinks JiHo’s really cute definitely during her trainee days when she was a little shy towards SHINee or that she’s a really great dancer/performer
Fans have wanted Key & JiHo or Minho & JiHo interactions for a while now, thinking they would make iconic duos (because chaos-), but some other fans have mentioned how she and Onew would make for a great duo because the girl tends to gravitate to the calmer members in NCT more often as well
EXO:
Well Kai is her idol so...
A lot of teasing once again
Though funnily enough, some EXO members seem to be intimidated by JiHo or act awkward around her
JiHo has been pretty open about being an EXO-L and so many fans poke fun at EXO about them being awkward around the girl (they have adopted her into the fandom and she’s pretty well received there)
“She just has this aura around her~”
MTL to feel intimidated by/awkward around JiHo:
Most: Sehun, Suho & Kai
Least: Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin (EXO-CBX ^^) & Lay (EXO-M <3, the former Chinese members were also not really awkward around her)
Not at all: Chanyeol & D.O.
JiHo’s fans are sad that her and Kai are so awkward around each other and blame EXO and NCT (mainly those in SuperM) for teasing Kai so much by mentioning JiHo looks up to him, that now he can barely look her in the eyes
People have also pointed out how funny it is that Kai and Sehun are especially intimidated by JiHo, comparing them to big dogs being scared of a little puppy (wait this is cute)
Chanyeol and D.O. get along very well with JiHo, Chanyeol mainly being kind of a big brother for JiHo, but a big brother who likes making fun of her and embarrass her
JiHo mentioned the group a lot in her first year of being an idol, after that she kind of stopped (theory: she got told of by SM for talking about EXO too much after getting a lot of mean comments from antis >﹏<)
Interactions between her and the group have also been insanely spares since mid 2019
(another theory: fans think that JiHo isn’t allowed to talk/interact with EXO anymore)
She has only mentioned EXO members when talking about SuperM, but it was mainly to support the group’s promotions
#Bring_Back_JiHo_X_EXO_2021
SNSD/Girl’s Generation:
NCT has teased JiHo before saying that she’s scared of SNSD
She defended herself by telling everyone that it’s because they are her seniors and she really respects them so she tends to get nervous around them
Some of the members of the girl group have mentioned JiHo before and said they hung out a little
Hyoyeon has been very expressive about her fondness for the girl
She even said that she wanted JiHo to join her when she participated in Hit The Stage
It didn’t end up happening because the kind of dances she did where either “too mature” or “unfortunately we didn’t get permission (from SM) to let Jiho join”
Hyoyeon has posted some pictures with JiHo on instagram, either cheering her on during NCT promotions or just because they were casually hanging out
JiHo also really likes Sunny and Taeyeon and has been invited by the girls to attended their concerts a few times now
On the outside it looks like they have a very strict senior-junior relationship, but every once in a while the group tells them how they are actually closer to JiHo than people think, they just don’t have very many opportunities to show it
They also do NOT tolerate any hate towards JiHo (definitely from those who comment on her not deserving to be in a boy group or her skill as an idol in general) and WILL defend her and shoot down any comments
Aespa:
She trained with a few of the girls for a little while
But when it got announced that JiHo would be joining NCT instead of a girl group, she started training with the boys (NCT and trainees who’d join NCT)
Some fans speculated that JiHo and Aespa weren’t on good terms, but there was no evidence to back up their theories
More so, it was even revealed that JiHo knew the choreography for “Black Mamba” during a V Live
JiHo has openly supported the group by talking about their debut song and stages, but there aren’t really any other interactions between them
BoA:
A collab between them would be LEGENDARY
When BoA visited NCT during their practise of Black on Black during the filming of Master in The House, she pointed JiHo out and complimented her for being able to be as powerful as the boys
JiHo looks up to BoA very much and during a variety show has revealed that she used to practise a lot of her songs/dances while she was a trainee
It happened a few times that the singer has expressed her faith in the younger girl’s potential and skill and hopes that JiHo will get to show of more of her talent because “Currently, I think she’s not able to show all her skills. She’s a junior I am able to trust to deliver (a great performance) if I asked her to work on a project with or for me.”
BoA’s comments about the younger girl only solidified the theories that SM is suppressing JiHo’s talent
JiHo has spoken out about it very subtly, saying that she’s happy where she is now as long as she gets to keep performing with the boys
In response to an international fan asking if JiHo ever thought about branching out to work on a solo project like a mixtape or even just solo dance videos to show of her choreographing skills:
“It makes me genuinely happy to perform with my friends right now. I think I still have a lot of learning to do. If ever my company reaches out to me to do something like that I will think about it, but I don’t really feel the need for anything like that right now. I’m happy (with the way things are) right now.”

2019 in Review
I’m gonna do a bunch of different categories. Also the first half or two-thirds of the year might be more heavily represented because I’ve had more time to sit with them plus I was gone and only semi-keeping up since September. Anyways overall takeaway from this year, the boys impressed me.
Favorite Summer Songs (not many groups released summer songs)
For The Summer (special album) - WJSN
Feedback - Boa
Questions - Zelo
Wave - ATEEZ
Illusion - ATEEZ
I'm mad Seventeen didn’t release Network Love in summer
Rookie of the Year
Female: GWSN
I had to give it to them once I found out that they were my #5 Spotify artist! I didn’t even realize I listened to them that much but I really do like they’re music. I just don’t know anything about them.
Male : TXT / VERIVERY
Honorable Mention: CIX, AB6IX
This was so hard because the newer boy groups have really been impressing me this year. I don’t think I mention TXT or VERIVERY on my blog at all but both have started their careers with a solid discography and verivery already has a signature sound. CIX and AB6IX get honorable mention for their amazing debuts but I think both of their comeback projects are weaker than the debuts.
Not Song of the Year But You Should Definitely Check It Out
1m1s - W Project 4
An emotional dance bop! Watch the choreography video. I wouldn’t even be mad if they put this on their debut album.
Face - Woosung
You’ve probably already heard this but if you haven’t go listen. Woosung carries this song with his voice
Still Loving You - 100%
Let’s Get Loud - We In The Zone (WITZ)
Time of our Life - Day6
I feel like this didn’t get as much hype as their other titles. Please enjoy happy Day6!!
Reminsce All - ONEWE
As I’ve already said this song epitomizes slow burn.
All night - ASTRO
You probably know this one too but you should stream it again anyways
Focus - Kim Dong Han
I feel like people really overlooked this one. If he had released it like a month and a half later I feel like it could have done well as a song for the summer that doesn’t sound like a summer song
Leave it - N.FLYING
Feel Good - Jang Dae Hyeon
The song makes you feel good as the title says
Binu - Bibi
I.M. - Horizon
Sometimes solo endeavors can slip under the radar so make sure you check this out.
I Like That - Lee Jinhyuk
Loca Mini Album - Favorite
Remember Me - Boys De Capo (BDC)
Summer! - Pentagon
You may be wondering why this was not in my summer list. Well I didn’t like Humph so I didn’t actually listen to this for awhile.
Round 2 - Pentagon
The Only - Raiden
Thank you Raiden for doing what SM won’t. Blessed Irene solo.
Forever Young - Giant Pink
Love U - Monsta X
I love this song cuz it’s light and catchy but most of all the lyrics.
Tonight, - June
Happiness - Pentagon
Forever Love - Youngjae
good party/dance song
ILLUSION - B.I.G
Fever - DONGKIZ
Super fun and retro
Beautiful Girl - WooSung
TOUCHIN' - Kang Daniel
Really good song I considered putting it in my top song list but there were too many
COME - Newkidd
I pay attention to them mostly bc Hansol but this is their most interesting output so far
The Time I Need - Kim Jaehwan
Take a Hike - Jiyeon
Stray Kids Mixtape : Gone Days
This is my favorite thing I’ve heard from them cuz I don’t like their title track sound
Tie - Oh Saebom
I hate drops so much but this has one of the best instrumental breaks
Maybe I - CIX
Although I was not in love with their comeback, this mellow song stands out
Top Albums
I gave these an order but it’s more you could split the list into thirds of top tier, 2nd tier, 3rd tier (i.e. Feel Special is definitely better than XX but Superhuman is practically on the same level as Feel Special)
Fancy You - TWICE
Feel Special - TWICE
End of Nightmare - Dreamcatcher
Raid of Dream - Dreamcatcher
Superhuman - NCT 127
Famous - Taemin
Moonwalk - WayV
Jumping Suran
HELLO Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger - CIX
The Park In The Night Part Two - GWSN
The Park In The Night Part Three - GWSN
We Boom - NCT DREAM
The Dream Chapter: Magic - TXT
Go Live - ONF
B:COMPLETE - AB6IX
An Ode - Seventeen
As You Wish - WJSN
The Reve Festival Finale - Red Velvet
No - CLC
For the Summer - WJSN
Under Cover - A.C.E.
Flourishing - Chungha
XX - LOONA
Single Albums
3 or less songs because they can’t be compared to proper albums or even minis. This list isn’t as complete as the full album list. It’s really just the single albums I wanted to put on the other list.
Rising - TRCNG
Wolf - Woosung
2/4 - ONEWE
HELLO! - 1TEAM
Veri-Chill - VERIVERY
Nappa - Crush
Female Top Title Song
This year I feel like I was really picky. There were so many songs that I were fine or good but I just didn’t particularly like them. Again like the albums there’s an order but it’s not a hard order
Psycho - Red Velvet
Breakthrough - Twice
Gotta Go - Chungha
Zgzg - Saay
Don’t Hang Up - Suran
Noir - Sunmi
Lalalay - Sunmi
Feel Special - Twice
Snapping - Chungha
Fancy - Twice
Deja Vu - Dreamcatcher
Piri - Dreamcatcher
Picky Picky - Weki Meki
Flower Shower - Hyuna
No - CLC
Dumb - BVNDIT
She’s Fine Heize
IU Bleuming
Butterfly - Loona
Male Top Title Song
On the opposite end I loved A LOT of boy groups songs. I don’t think my blog reflects it at all but buckle up for this long list. Again this list has an order but it’s not a hard order however, number one is definitely my number one. A recurring element of this list is songs with amazing choruses
*Parallel isn’t an official title track but I love VIXX and I don’t care
**Lim Jimin is a late release so I’m tentative about adding his song but I’ve listened to it a few times and I think it has staying power
Missing - TRCNG
Moonwalk - WayV
Superhuman - NCT 127
Famous - Taemin
Alligator - MONSTA X
Why - ONF
Fear - SEVENTEEN
Sunset - KNK
We Must Love - ONF

SHINee 5 - Wolf Pack AU
Can you make werewolf SHINee with ranks and also 2min -Anon
AU where everyone is Alpha/Beta/Omega but everything else is similar.
Kpop groups are known as packs and they can be small or large. Normally an Alpha is placed as the leader with a Beta as the second. Many Omega Idols (as rare as they are) are given pills to suppress their heat so they can continue a performance or schedule as usual.
SHINee is known in the idol world as the free-spirited group, known for their outspokenness against gender roles and order. They live outside the city in a personalized dorm, and they are known to really embrace the wolf side of themselves.
Onew- Pack Alpha and Leader
Bloomed early if you must know
Dubulge
Everyone knew he was an alpha since he was like 12
When he joined SM they quickly began preparing him to be the pack Alpha
Tries his best, really.
The most level-headed Alpha you will ever meet
Most people mistake him for a Beta because of how calm and simple he can be.
The rest of OT5 had no clue how aggressive and angry he could get until he almost beat up a mean group of Beta’s that were bullying Taemin at school when they first debuted.
Minho and Key had to hold him back.
Taemin didn’t know if he was more afraid of the bullying or of Jinki when he found out what was going on.
They all walked Taemin to school from then on.
WILL fight anyone who threatens his pack.
Also such a supportive bean
Always placing his members before himself.
Also hasn’t found a mate even with his age
A lil upset
But he has his pack, and that’s all that really matter to him; his family.
Sometimes he jokes that he is really just secretly mated to all of them, in an emotional sense.
Jonghyun- Second Beta
Lowkey everyone expected him to be an Omega with how sensitive he was as a kid.
But then he never showed signs of being an Alpha or Omega and he was like ‘yeah, okay’
SM knew his personality would counter well with Jinki’s and matched him as the second in command.
Other than when Jinki had his throat problems and was out of the idol game for a while he hasn’t really had to take over as pack leader.
95% sure that it would result in head-butting from Key and Minho if he had to take over for any longer than he did.
Mated to Key
A little unconventional, and they can’t ever have kids, but like, they are together and Key is a faithful bean.
Jjong just gets a little worried whenever Taemin’s heat comes because Key wants to take care of him even though he is an alpha and one time during Taemin’s second heat Key lowkey pounced on the maknae but they stopped him for touching Taem and they stopped Minho from killing Key
Very content with the pack dynamic at this point
Even if other packs dislike them
“Three Alpha’s are too many for a five-person group”
Please. The amount of Alphas have nothing to do with how popular they are.
Their lead vocalist and lead dancer aren’t Alphas and also, he and Taem have just as many fans as their Alphas so
Very much against all the bad stereotyping against Betas and Omega
Key- Alpha
Wasn’t surprised he was an Alpha
WaY to independent
He isn’t  aggressive and doesn’t try to control others, but he does think his way is the best way, and he will prove it to others,
Everyone thought that he was the Omega of the group before they went public on their secondary genders 5 years after their debut
It was mainly to protect Taemin
Treats Taemin like his own pup most of the time, because he knows that Taemin might be the closest he ever has to a pup, at least for now.
Panicked after he went into a rut of Taemin tho
Wouldn’t talk to anyone for two weeks
It wasn’t his fault that Taemin was irregular and they were practicing a duo stage at that time
Loves Jjong with his whole heart tho, like 100000%
Would easily die for his petit bean
A little upset that Jjong wasn’t an Omega bc they would have beautiful children.
Been considering asking about getting an Omega surrogate. They could go to Taemin, or even Jjongs sister is they wanted to keep surrogate very close to them.
Super chill and laid back tho; the coolest Alpha you’ll ever meet
Minho- Alpha
Intended to be a pack leader when he first joined and learned the ropes.
So he was a lil mad that he wasn’t the leader or even the second oldest.
At least he wasn’t the youngest.
He is pretty aggressive and territorial
But also he is the sweetest
Like he is nurturing and protective.
Especially of Taemin.
He knew Taemin was his mate since the first time they met when their Maknae was announced to him.
He saw Taemin and boom
100% in love.
Taemin hadn’t come of age yet though, but Minho was hoping he would be an Omega. They knew he was either that or a beta and like, he really loves kids and wants to have his own eventually, and Taemin would be the perfect mom for his pups and-
He was suppppper happy when they finally found out Taemin’s secondary gender. He was late by like 2 years, but better late than never.
The first couple heats were bad for Minho too
Especially when Key did an oopsie.
Actually wanted to fight him?
Once Taemin started showing more interest in Minho ….
Minho pounced
Protects Taemin before anyone else, but will protect the others if he needs feels the need to
Taemin- Omega Maknae
A  late bloomer by like 2 years.
Was v stressed because of this.
Found out he was Omega and tbh he was a little surprised. He’d failed that doll test his parents tried on him when he was 7.
Lost the doll within two hours.
But he loses everything so ?
Lowkey always had a crush on Minho
But didn’t want to overstep his boundaries.
But then one time he lost his suppressants and they were in Japan for the dome tours and he messed up his schedule and went into heat and at the time he was sharing a room with Minho and it was in the middle of the night.
They had to cancel one of the concerts because of this
Hates being an Omega a little bit
He hates going into heat. Like He took up the big closet in the dorm and filled with a ton of fan gifts and blankets and pillows and soft things and he hides in there during his heat and when he gets upset or stressed. He also ended stealing half of Minho’s clothes and stuff to keep in there.
There is a social part of it too.
Always underestimated. Like when he was the first to go solo there was a lot of uproars because the Omega of the group should’nt have gone solo first.
It only got worse on him when Jonghyun went solo too, they were both under a lot of fire.
Really just focuses on trying his hardest.
A/N I hope this is good. ^^ I’m still new to writing omegaverse stuff so idk.
There is a huge storm where I am rn, and we are snowed inside, so I’ll be filling requests or at least working on them unless power goes out.

Thoughts about Jonghyun
I became a SHINee fan in 2013. And I’ll admit that it started in a really shallow way. I remember all my friends on twitter talking about various kpop groups and I wanted to be a part of the clique and the conversations so I would look up groups that they mentioned. I can’t recall them ever mentioning SHINee but I stumbled on SHINee’s Ring Ding Dong music video and watched it. It was the first group that I found myself liking how all the members looked and their voices. I became a Minho stan right away and in the beginning I was a bit of a solo stan. I only really cared about him. Then my friends started telling me to watch ‘One Fine Day’ and ‘Hello Baby’ and I started to get a liking for SHINee as a whole and appreciating all of the members as the individuals they were. Minho was definitely my number #1 but I always used to say Jinki – Jonghyun – Kibum – Taemin, are my number #2 because I couldn’t rank them.
I always thought Jonghyun was a funny guy, he provided a lot of comedic relief in Hello Baby. His ‘is this the reality you always wanted’ comments always made me crack up. To me at that point he was still the funny guy, in my head he was the image SM had pushed onto him from debut and so my liking for him didn’t go much further. Then he started Blue Night in 2014. And he gave us an insight into his daily life, his struggles and how kind and compassionate of a person he is. SHINee did not have a comeback in 2014, so I spent most of that year watching old shows, listening to their entire discography and really learning the personalities of the members. I would scroll through Jonghyun’s twitter for hours, laughing at his antics – like when he was learning to ride a bike and it got stolen, or him posting memes of Minho and the other members. He also was vocal about lots of injustices and seemed to be such an intelligent and head strong person. At that point Jonghyun was really cemented as my number #2 in SHINee.
In 2015, he debuted as a solo artist. I can’t explain how happy I was. I had always just had a loving for Jonghyun’s voice and knowing that he wrote the lyrics to all of his songs made me even happier. I remember coming home from school the day the Crazy music video came out and I watched it like 10 times. I was so amazingly proud of him. I watched every variety show he appeared on that era. The 4 things show was my favourite, it felt like he was giving us such a close insight into his life, even more than he usually did on Blue Night. Even though my favourite SHINee album at that point was the Misconceptions of Me, I never felt the urge to purchase it. But Base was an album that I just had to purchase. I remember all the kpop websites I found that sold albums only accepted payment through paypal and I didn’t have an account or really knew how to make one, so I was asking around to everyone I knew if they had a paypal account that I could borrow. I ended up using my Spanish teacher’s account lmao. The first half of 2015 really belonged to Jonghyun and at that point for me it became Minho – Jonghyun, my #1s, Key-Onew-Taemin my #2s.
She Is was my favourite era of his. It was such a bubbly, bright and colourful era. He looked so pretty with his pink hair and so full of life. I remembered just smiling like an idiot when I think Key(?) talked about how Jonghyun was so obsessed with dying his hair pink and about how he was looking at all the different shades and wouldn’t stop talking about it. He was so cute. I was so annoying during that era, I wouldn’t stop talking about him and how proud I was of him. When that album dropped, I felt such immense joy and happiness for him that I felt like crying, constantly. I was always bitter about that album not getting the recognition it truly deserved.
One of my major regrets is not listening to Blue Night a lot, because of the time difference I was always just getting up at the time it was airing or in school. Whenever I did hear his voice, he always sounded so soft and soothing, even though I couldn’t understand what he was saying. I read the translations every morning and I always felt a bit closer to him. It hurt a lot when he left Blue Night, it felt like we wouldn’t be able to know him so personally anymore. That even though he was still here, a part of him was still missing. Him leaving Blue Night worried me a lot. I remember asking my friends if they thought something deeper was going on with him because I didn’t understand why he would stop doing something he loved so much, especially since he’s done Blue Night successfully when he had a much more hectic schedule.
A lot of Shawols rejoiced when Jonghyun returned to black hair but it also unsettled me. His black hair was gorgeous and beautiful but I remember back in about 2014 or so when people would make posts like ‘when is Jjong going back to dark hair he’s been blond for so long’ it always annoyed me because I thought about him saying that he prefers lighter hair and he associates his dark hair with bad memories. When he dyed his hair back to black, I was worried but I wanted to be optimistic and hoped that he was trying to overcome the bad memories from his past. He seemed to be doing a lot of stuff that seemed like coping – getting tattoos, gaining weight. I thought he was doing so much better. Jonghyun was always the emotional one, always crying, always getting choked up. I liked to make the joke that ‘if Jonghyun didn’t cry at a SHINee concert, then did the concert really happen?’ I always thought he was crying because of the immense happiness he was feeling in those moments, but maybe there was pain those cries as well.
It hurts me that people would use lyrics to his songs to make posts about us not noticing until it was too late or why didn’t we pay attention. He was always so so open about his struggles with depression and loneliness. But I’m conflicted because he was also so encouraging, he let us all know that whatever we were going through it would get better one day. I can’t say that I’ve ever felt the same amount of despair and loneliness that he felt, but I have felt down a lot, especially a few months ago and songs like Gloomy Clock and Just Chill, really comforted me. It’s really comforting to know that, despite this person being famous and having so many fans, you can still relate to their struggles and they can relate to yours. I wish people wouldn’t say that we failed him, I wish people wouldn’t blame themselves. Jonghyun was open about everything and was seeking help, it’s just that the help he was receiving wasn’t enough for him.
I always used to say Minho and Jonghyun both have half of my heart. Now it feels like one half is gone and the other half just aches. Everyone who’s spoken to me probably knows how big of a fan I was of Jongho and how much I adored their interactions. If anything could make me happy it is the moments between Jonghyun and Minho because I felt they had a bond that many others either didn’t see or just didn’t appreciate. So knowing that Minho is hurting so much because he loves and adores Jonghyun to pieces, hurts me beyond belief. When the news came out that Jonghyun had passed, I wasn’t able to put my phone down until I read the words ‘Minho fainted at the hospital,’ and then my heart sank to my stomach and I felt like throwing up. After that I wasn’t able to check updates again for hours.
Part of me wants to angry. Why would he do this? Why couldn’t it have been an accident that took him away from us instead? Even though that’s horrible to think about – but it would sting so much less than knowing that he took his own life, that he was hurting and so unhappy that he wanted to leave this world. How much pain was that petite body of his really carrying?
I can’t explain how I feel about everything. I don’t feel sadness per say but yet I sobbed for the first time in a long time when I found out. When people talk to me about it and say ‘I know how much he means to you’ I get choked up all over again. I see his face and listen to his music and think ‘he can’t be gone, it’s all just a bad dream’ but then I accept that he’s gone and it’s okay but then I think about how he left us and it’s not okay. I live in The Bahamas, I sort of accepted the fact that I wouldn’t get to see him in person or attend a SHINee concert one day – but being alive at the same time as him, meant that despite how small, there was still a chance of that happening. Now there isn’t.
I’m sad that he was taken from us so early. I’m sad that there wasn’t much any of us could really do for him. I’m sad that I won’t ever get to experience his radiant beauty in person, to get to watch him on stage doing the thing he loves the most. I’m sad that I won’t experience attending a fansign, to have Jonghyun look at me the way he looks at every fan – like they’re the last person in the world. I’m sad that a while from now we won’t be able to hear his voice anymore or see his beautiful smile, or see his chest mole or the way his nose scrunches up when he laughs. I’m sad that he thought he wasn’t good enough, because to me he was the most talented and one of the most beautiful people in the world. I’m sad that eventually we will move on and Jonghyun will become a memory – I don’t want him to become a memory, because I wish he was still here with us. I wish we could turn back time and someone could save him, someone could give him all the help he needed. I’m sad that anything I say or do will never be enough to explain how much he really meant to me. Despite all the things I feel sad about, I find a sense of happiness in knowing that he isn’t hurting anymore and that he held on for a really really long time. Heaven gained a true angel.
You did exceptionally well Jonghyun. Rest in Paradise.

So I fell in love with your post regarding Taem & Jjong's solos. Can you talk about Onew/Minho/Key too if you have spare time? I miss them :D! Ty!!
I’m sorry it took me too long to answer TT so here we go again with an infinite text so grab some popcorn.
Okay so... how to explain my feelings about Lee Jinki without dying softly. Onew is the member of SHINee that, sincerely, I cannot find the right words to describe. He’s truly out of this world, and not because I believe he’s weird (he’s not), but because of how much sweetness, talent and magic holds inside his body and soul. I’ve talked about Jonghyun and Taemin having their own magic, but Onew does have a very specific kind of magic that is something I can’t describe. It only comes when he sings, when he appears on stage. Probably because he still has a mysterious ambience around him when he performs, but it’s a mystery that is attractive, that is beautiful, a mystery that you truly want to discover and you want it to come into your body and make you feel lots, lots of wonderful experiences. I’m not exaggerating, I still get incredibly emotional when I watch his performances of Nessum Dorma and Rainy Blue. Onew isn’t that kind of performer that searches to call for attention too much, but someone who basically enters, do his stuff and leaves, because he definitely knows what he’s doing and how everybody will put their eyes on him. I don’t know, really, it’s truly hard for me to describe Onew’s presence but I definitely love it.
I love this man so so so much. Really, I cannot look at this man and not think “I love him so much”. He’s so warm, sweet, wonderful, magical... He’s truly a gem. He has such a power, such a passion inside, everything just comes out when he sings, when he appears on stage. He doesn’t need to move like crazy or to get a special spot, because you know he’s always there and he’ll always catch your attention. He’s also like this as a person publicly. He’s not the kind of leader who will speak above the rest of members but someone who decides to be equally with them. He truly loves SHINee members and he’s SO adorable when he’s with them. Just look at his eyes and he’s full of love for them. Jinki is full of love, of passion, of only beautiful things and I swear I get truly mad when people still don’t get to see how beautiful he is inside (and outside). He also doesn’t speak that much, not like he’s introvert, but somehow he doesn’t need to speak too much. And this somehow breaks my heart, because sometimes you don’t know what he’s thinking or feeling, and I truly want to know what he saves inside his soul, because I know it has to be something wonderful, something magical. He’s so pure, funny, sweet... SOBS. I’m every day waiting for him to go solo. I know he still needs his time, he needs his space, but he definitely deserves one, he deserves to show to the world all the art he has inside because I know only beautiful things can happen when it’s about him. He has the voice, the presence, the talent. And I can’t be tired of saying how adorable, sweet and funny he is. SHINee is beautiful for lots of reasons, and one of them is because Onew is a member. I’m truly thankful every day for him to be a member of SHINee but also to exist. I feel so happy to know he exists, and I feel so glad to see him smile. I truly hope he’s always happy because he deserves it. And here I need to stop because for real I can’t continue fighting against my soul to not cry TT
Key is AMAZING, every single meaning inside amazing defines Key. I admire him so so so so much, both as an artist and as a person. I must admit that the first time that Key was releasing his first drawings I was like “what’s going on?” lmao, but once I started to see his beautiful designs for him and SHINee... I was truly fascinated. I admire people who imagine art in their minds and they’re able to make it real, and I mean to get the material for it or just being able to represent it, and Kibum is one of those people, very special people that isn’t easy to find. He’s incredibly creative, and this isn’t only about his designs, about his taste in fashion, but mostly because of how well he’s able to express his real self through music. It’s dumb to remind this but Key is an INCREDIBLE dancer and performer. We’ve got legendary stages from him and I’m pretty for that for the upcoming Dome stages he’ll continue giving us surprises, because he was totally born to shine, to show himself and receive all the love he deserves. I still remember that show in which he revealed he didn’t feel as loved as the other members when they debuted and I feel that’s so unreal because someone like him has to be admired for everything he does. He fought truly hard to get to where he is, and I’m SO glad he’s not afraid anymore to show the way he is. He’s sweet and beautiful, a person full of creativity, full of dreams, full of passion for life and music. Man, he’s FIERCE, but also a warm, sweet, open minded person. And his voice... I think we’re still not able to truly appreciate everything that he does. I mean... not only a performer and singer, but also an actor, a designer... good lord what he doesn’t know to do. He’s a person/artist that is able to find always to express something no matter the way they pick to express their art, because they’ll always do it perfectly. He’s an inspiration for fighting to be himself, for facing the judgement of the world and just express what Kim Kibum is and what Kim Kibum feels.
I feel like I’m repeating myself but I can’t feel tired of him, he has a big heart, an incredible mind and many ways to express himself. I wish he could also go solo, but I think he truly loves the acting world right now. Kibum is able to get into every one of his characters that well, I think he enjoys it that much because he’s also learning to show his different sides, learning from his works to know how, then, to express himself as a performer. He’s always different, stunning, he’d always give us something to shock all of us. He’s definitely unique.
Choi Minho, another individual that gets to do everything that he wants. EVERYTHING. It’s funny though because other people would use his determination for other kind of objectives, but Minho would always use it to make us happy. Minho is the love inside SHINee, is the heart, the spirit. He’s so incredibly positive and he’s an amazing fighter, he’s so determined that whatever he does it looks easy. I do also think we don’t appreciate enough how much Minho has improved as a singer and as a performer. Both Minho and Taemin had to work truly hard to improve, and as I understand how much excitement Taemin creates, Minho isn’t behind Taemin, he has trained a lot his sweet voice and now he sings even much better than vocalists of other groups. Minho has done lots of sacrifices to make us happy. Minho has been always working truly hard only for us. Minho is also a very precious human being, full of love, joy, hope and fun. He’s not afraid of giving his everything for each thing he does, he’s committed to each objective he has in life. His level of performance and singing isn’t a joke, in the last years he has developed such a strong personality that I love so much. We’re not talking about a “flaming charisma”, but a true man that is serious about his work and yet knows he can have fun because he truly enjoys what he is nowadays. He’s also admirable for all his achievements, for never giving up against the odds. He’s full of love, of kindness, of sweetness, someone like him isn’t able to have bad things in his soul because he’s too pure. And all these beautiful qualities are also art, because himself as a human being is art. People with warm hearts are always art, they are what we need to have some humanity, and Minho is a real human. We could say we need more people like Minho, but that’s kinda impossible, right? He’s unique. I think I’m mixing too much talking about personality and stage presence, but he slays in both ways. He doesn’t seem interested in going solo, I think he also feels comfortable as an actor and as a model. Still, being busy 24/6/365, he still plays sports like a random young man, enjoys going out with friends... he’s an extraordinary normal person.
I truly want him to show more of his creativity, because he has showed many sides of himself, but I feel there’s still to much from him to come and I’m definitely waiting for everything. How not to love Minho and how not to enjoy every single detail of his existence. He’s beautiful and lovely, so lovely.
I think this time I’ve mixed my thoughts too much, but it’s hard to truly express what I feel in my chest every time I enjoy SHINee. I don’t know if I can help people notice how unique and special they are in their own ways, but I truly hope that SHINee will continue their own path as they develope different activities alone. SHINee isn’t big because of being SHINee, but because of the hard work of each member. Their hard work makes them better, stronger. SHINee without these members wouldn’t be the same.
