Endless list of things I love about post-ts haikyuu (various teams ver.)
Seijoh
iwaizumi's godzilla phone case
the whole seijoh team not giving a shit about their home country's national team or iwaizumi hajime (27) athletic trainer. oikawa is playing for argentina so they're cheering for argentina and that's that
funeral home employee mattsun
oikawa getting his banner at the olympics, the last one shown in the regular manga chapters, really makes it feel like this is HIS success story even if he lost during high school and was out of the story for so long because of it
I watched the original "petty pride" exchange when s2 came out. the amount of satisfaction I got from reading "What do you think of my petty pride now?" "I think it's fantastic." is unrivalled. it's one piece levels of delayed gratification good. I may love and be obsessed with other characters, but my heart will always be with oikawa tooru and rather than a win or a spot at nationals or whatever, this is what he deserves.
the last page of haikyuu canon we ever got featured oikawa being stupid and petty and cute and iwa bickering with him and it's like. what more could I ever ask for
Shiratorizawa
ushiwaka's relationship with kids. all of it
ushiwaka wanting his dad to watch his games being the reason he works so hard to get good, only to hear his dad being all excited and always watching any games he can it's just so sweet
shirabu still being so intense about ushiwaka all the time always
the shiratorizawa team still going to goshiki's to watch stuff together, just like they used his tablet and his dorm room back in the day. boy will never know peace
the documentary about chocolatier tendou with ushiwaka in it. look at them!!! they're best friends!!! I love them so much! and it's just perfect when tendou was the one assuming he'd be in ushiwaka's documentary
tendou's lil volleyball chocolate <3
Fukuroudani
bokuto's stupid chest receives. my boy hasn't changed at all lmao
that lil montage of hs age bokuto causing problems for his team
bokuto still doing a feint, the "special attack" he taught hinata ages ago
fukuroudani still supporting him so so much and calling him "our ace" just makes me emotional
akaashi interviewing bokuto and udai tenma just sitting there like "what in the fresh hell are these two talking about???"
someone (yaku) finally understanding and translating when bokuto makes some insane statement about what "normal" is wasn't necessary but I love it so so much you don't even know. my boy bokuto is understood and among his kind. he belongs. this is all I need in life
Others
hoshiumi asking hinata's height even tho he already knows
sakusa being on the same team as hinata AND atsumu AND bokuto. you know this man is getting roped into so many shenanigans against his will
sakusa meeting ushiwaka for the first time and being impressed not because of volleyball but because of his pocket handkerchief that he folds with the damp side in
also sakusa (presumably) choosing his (and komori's) high school based on a guy with a lint roller
hoshiumi seeing hinata as a rival but also more as an ally. short kings unite!!!
kanoka being the ace of japan's women's volleyball team and tanaka being so so supportive of her. like yeah that crush didn't work out for her but she's thriving and there's no resentment between them, she's not defined by romance. queen.
Nekoma
nekoma's "connect" flag being taken from the context of connecting in volleyball to connecting through volleyball is just. chef's kiss
kuroo's con man vibe even though he just genuinely loves volleyball and wants to spread that love to as many people as possible
yaku being the one who plays in russia when you could assume lev would, but no. yaku returns from russia and the first thing he does is make fun of model lev. it's perfect
kuroo in the special baiting everyone exactly with what they want like this man knows what kinda idiots he has at his disposal
yaku next to yoffe
also ending on nekoma's flag is perfect

Haikyuu!! SPOILERS: Chapter 401, How We Connect the Dots.
**PENULTIMATE SPOILERS BELOW**
I just posted a video with my live reactions to the chapter, but here are my highlights, because FURUDATE YOU MADMAN GENIUS. This chapter connected so much together. So, let’s do:
Tumblr media
My Top 10 Thoughts on Haikyuu!! Chapter 401:
10. Of course. In true Furudate fashion, he has Kageyama block the spike from Hinata, BUT, what Kageyama doesn’t realize is all the training on the beach Shoyo has done to prepare for such a moment. And that heel kick! *swoons* Also, someone reacting to Season 4, Episode 9 of the anime, where Hinata kicks the ball back to himself called this happening all those months ago...Furudate is next level at foreshadowing. Not that we didn’t already know that.
Tumblr media
9. Hey, remember how in the VERY FIRST chapter of Haikyuu!! Shoyo did this crazy run across the court to score? Yeah, Furudate knows we remember. And he pulls this -- and Kageyama’s beautiful reaction, only for --
Tumblr media
-- Only for it to all be a DECOY. Kageyama, you made this monster, you know. I love that Shoyo has come all this way from wanting to score all the points to accepting that the decoy DOES have a vital role to play, and in this instance, it’s allowing Bokuto to score the winning point for the MSBY Black Jackals. Just look at that smile! And of course, Tanaka and Asahi KNOW the power of Hinata as a Decoy...because they’ve been in Bokuto’s shoes before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. UGH, the aftermath of that moment is glorious, which will detail down below -- but I love Shoyo and Kageyama’s interaction, though. How they’re still keeping track of each other’s wins and losses, exhausting Miya, hilariously, and showing that they’re on equal footing now, after all these years. This chapter is just cementing the last several chapters’ worth of character development.
Tumblr media
7. ARE YOU SHIPPERS READY FOR YOUR FOOD?!
Because these next few pages were healing my shipper heart. I mean, yes, the Kagehina fanbase is raving right now, but let’s talk about THESE ships below, starting with:
Tsukishima x Yamaguchi:
So, Tsukishima, of course, is not sappy about any of this and just points out how the season’s just getting started (ready the fanfics, y’all).
And of course, Yamaguchi wants to watch Tsuki play! Yachi says she’ll come too! I LOVE how just like he was with Akiteru, he doesn’t want them to come watch (even though we all know he’ll love it when they’re there). Now, some people have commented that Yamaguchi could be with Yachi, but y’all...Yachi is in Tokyo. Yamaguchi and Tsuki both live in Miyagi. I can’t wait for all the Sendai Frog/TsukiYama fanfics!
Tumblr media
If you’re looking for an extra Kagehina crumble, just look at the end of this adorable exchange between Romero, smol adorable Rubens, and Shoyo (who perfectly crouches down to talk to him MY HEART I CAN’T), to see Kageyama notice that Shoyo can speak multiple languages...oh, honey! If only you know about Hinata and Pedro’s marathons of DBZ in Portugese and English! ^^
Tumblr media
Also, Furudate WE SEE YOU. We see you being meta and implying that now Haikyuu!! is over, he’s moving on...Akaashi’s line about going forward hit me hard...it’s like he’s telling us, the fandom, that going on to start something new isn’t so bad. SO YOU SAY.
BOKUAKA NATION -- WE CANON NOW, RIGHT?!
I love that Akaashi gets to interview Bokuto (IS HE GOING TO BE THE STAR of the Volleyball manga Tenma Udai is writing?! He would be PERFECT for it!) and how happy Akaashi looks, even if he and Bokuto realize how differently they view the term “normal.”
ALSO, it’s implied above that Akaashi, Bokuto, and Tenma were going out for drinks...which now....we know that it’s just Bokuto and Akaashi, since Tenma was going home. Uhm, FAN FIC WRITERS ASSEMBLE!
Tumblr media
I also love that Udai joins the club, along with Fukurodani’s coach and manager, of people who realize that Bokuto and Akaashi are weirdos but they are weirdos together, so it’s fine.
Keeping the “Ship Train” going, we get little bits of Shimizu x Yachi from the bathhouse before the Inarizaki Match, where Kiyoko finally acknowledges she is okay showing her legs...thanks to Yachi’s words. I also find Suga wanting to know “the tea” on the situation to be adorable.
Tumblr media
AND FINALLY, YES, Y’ALL:
I was spoiled with Kuroo’s return, but seriously, Furudate, you saved him for the end here so INTENTIONALLY.
Because OF COURSE Kuroo would work for the JVA. As a promoter. CONNECTING people...with Volleyball...because that’s the Nekoma way.
And FURUDATE ARE YOU SUGGESTING TO US THAT KUROO AND KENMA ARE BUSINESS PARTNERS AND COLLABORATORS BECAUSE MY KUROKEN HEART IS SOARING --
-- and let it be known Atsumu Miya rightfully doesn’t trust Kuroo, and neither does Sakusa. A nice SakuAtsu crumb where we actually see Sakusa agree with Miya without sacrasm or question! Poor Shoyo is a salesman’s dream, though. I mean, Kuroo does look a little sketchy in some of those shots...BUT....
Tumblr media
6. Kuroo’s speech about sports was SO fitting. Seriously, everything he says here is BASICALLY what makes Haikyuu!! such a great series. I DID laugh out loud at the line about “hardly anybody dies.”
*Flashbacks to “Dead Daichi” meme*
5. It’s taken us the ENTIRE series, but Kageyama finally talks to Kindaichi and Kunimi. This was so heartwarming, seeing Kageyama wanting to play WITH THEM. AS A TEAM. This made my heart expand three sizes. The character development on Kageyama, and Kindaichi, is through the roof.
I also LOVE Kunimi the most in these panels. Kunimi is a MOOD.
Tumblr media
Y’ALL. I’VE WAITED 400 CHAPTERS FOR THIS PANEL OF THESE THREE HAPPY AND BECOMING FRIENDS AGAIN.
Tumblr media
4. I love that Hoshiumi doesn’t see Hinata as a Rival, but as someone that is going to help him show the rest of the world the strength of someone who doesn’t have height. I also find it interesting that we see the Japanese Olympic Coach walking out just as Hoshiumi gives us that beautiful gaze. So...does Hoshiumi know he’s going to be on the Olympic team, with Hinata, maybe? Foreshadowing, perhaps?
Tumblr media
3. Okay, okay, I held it together until this page.
It wasn’t Ushijima’s panel with Washijo that got me.
It wasn’t Saeko and Akane reuniting, though that was sweet.
It wasn’t the three “Pure Captains” reuniting, though it made my heart happy.
It honestly wasn’t the five first years together, either. They’re all so happy and having a laugh at Kageyama’s expense, and as beautiful as that panel is.
SUGAWARA IN LINE TO GET KAGEYAMA’S AUTOGRAPH.
That is what got me.
Him in line, so meekly, to get the autograph of his kouhai, the man Suga joked would have to tell about how much he learned from HIM when he was giving out interviews and autographs...I just...Sugawara made me cry. That is all.
Tumblr media
2. Then there’s this last page. 2021.
"We overcame difficulties and stand here.”
Furudate really said “screw you” to Covid messing up the timeline.
Tumblr media
Yes, seeing Kageyama and Hinata in their original jersey numbers was amazing, but I think we all saw that coming if these two happened to get on the Olympic team.
What I want to focus on are the two countries we see included in the bottom corner here. We see:
Brazil -- and some fluffy haired man carrying the flag for the team.
And we see the United States -- there’s several American Flags and stars and stripes on the shirts of the crowd, there.
SO, HEADCANON TIME:
* Oikawa was on the Argentinean League, so could he play for Brazil? It’s not likely, but not impossible....BUT, I don’t think that’s it.
I don’t think Oikawa is on Japan’s National Team for the Olympics.
If he is on the Olympic Team, I think he’ll be on America’s.
Why? Because, and this could be because I’m the biggest IwaOi shipper, but Iwaizumi was still in the United States with Ushijima’s father at the end of Chapter 395. And if he’s still there, there is no reason why Iwaizumi couldn’t be a physical trainer alongside Ushijima’s father for the U.S. Olympic team. And why wouldn’t Oikawa trek over to the States to be on the same team as Iwa-Chan’s working with? I’m probably wrong, BUT --
We also still need to see Seijoh’s banner, and as others have theorized, how fitting would it be to see Hinata, Kageyama, and (probably) Ushijima on the team facing Oikawa? I just....I’m betting money that Oikawa shows up in 402. I hope we at least see him on the Olympic Stage. OIKAWA DESERVES IT.
1. So, who are we missing that hasn’t been shown yet?
We still need to see the rest of Nekoma (Lev, Yaku, Yamamoto, Kai....could they be in the stands or on the Japan team? I guess we’ll find out!)
We haven’t seen Daishou and Mika -- I would love to see them watching or narrating in the audience during the Olympic game.
And finally, yes, we’ve seen Tendo in the Chapter 395 flashback, but we’ve never seen what he’s DOING. Furudate has shown us with every character what they’ve been doing since the timeskip....EXCEPT TENDO. I’m calling it that he’ll appear one more time next chapter, too.
So....guys....I’m staying off of Social Media from Wednesday to Sunday next week, to prep for the last chapter and not be spoiled. I’m going to do a live reaction for YouTube, and I’ll post it here. You can see the one I did for 401 now.
Furudate, this series has been immaculate. Time for one more round.
Let’s all cry together next week.

12:34 a.m. | akaashi k.
Tumblr media
wc: 300+ | prfr
genre: angst | warnings: stress/anxiety
anon ordered: timeskip akaashi + angst + ☕️
a/n: here's your ☕ akaashi angst & thank you for ordering! i hope you like it<3
Tumblr media
[12:34 a.m.] — akaashi keiji plans ahead of time.
he always keeps a schedule of all of his work. from editing udai's manga to the time he eats lunch. tenma's asked him to extend deadlines a lot that he already expects it and luckily enough, it isn't as much of a bother anymore though.
but keiji—he doesn't do well with last-minute plans because it overwhelms him, and that's when he begins to fall apart.
he starts to feel his system shake. his feet can't stay at one place, eyes darting to every corner in the room. his lungs and heart run races, and his fingers begin to scratch at any surface. it becomes uncontrollable and walking around or trying to sleep doesn't help him.
his solution? you.
(used to be.)
akaashi follows a routine, but staying up late wasn't a part of it.
keiji lies awake at midnight, eyes wide open. he's tossed and turned so many times he's sure his bed's a mess, but sleep still won't take him.
maybe if you were here he could.
you're what kept him at bay.
akaashi hates the ceiling he's staring at, keeping him from seeing the night sky. still, he's sure that even when if the ceiling's clear glass or gone, he'll see nothing and he might get convinced the dark's drowning him.
he's sure he won't see stars tonight, or every other.
not when you've got them all in your eyes.
he breathes in, the smell of earth after rain filling his nose. he hates it. he hates that it reminds him of you.
he hates feeling the smooth and crisp pages of a newly-bought book against his skin because his first instinct is take yours and have it graze over the paper, then waits 'til your fingers meet his face.
he hates the only thing that keeping him together nowadays, his organized schedules, because he keeps remembering how it isn't going to help him at all times.
akaashi plans ahead of time, but not everything goes by the book.
"losing you wasn't part of the plan."

Haikyuu!! Ch. 375 Spoilers Ahead!!!!!
These are only gonna be small squealings because I’ve got finals coming up and a whole lotta shit to do
Let’s recap: ch. 374 left off with Oikawa returning to Argentina after his break in Rio, offering last minute encouragement to Hinata to become the best he can possibly be!
First off, the conversation between Hinata and his teammate was freaking adorable. I love that Hinata is so passionate about volleyball that he forgets sometimes that it’s not like that for other people. And OF COURSE he is a cutie pie and immediately thinks of Kageyama’s meticulous pre-game routine.
His teammate points out Hinata’s sponsor patch on his clothes, and this is where we see an old friend
Tumblr media
I don’t know why I was surprised to find out that Kenma is a professional gamer, but all that other stuff??? He’s a STOCK TRADER?! The CEO of a COMPANY?!?! (The YouTuber thing also doesn’t surprise me all that much) Boy Kenma sure came into his own through college. You have to remember that at this point in time, he’s only 22 years old! For reference, I’M 22, and I’m nowhere NEAR where he’s at in life (though I am a YouTuber, ha).
Also I love that the ends of his hair are still bleached, it feels familiar
Tumblr media
Before I get into what I really want to talk about, let’s just sit back a moment and appreciate Hinata’s glow up for a second. He grew 3 inches!! I gotta admit I’m a little upset, since before he was my height but now he’d be taller than me, but now he’s also taller than Udai Tenma, the little giant himself!
Okay, okay. Here we go. The big bucks.
Tumblr media
HE’S GOING BACK TO JAPAAAAAAANNNN
Can you hear me screaming?
I’ve been hoping for this since the arc started! Of course I’ve LOVED the chapters in Rio, and seeing how much Hinata has grown both as a volleyball player and as a person in general, but Japan is home for him, ya know? That’s where all of his family and friends are, that’s Kageyama is!! (Flashback to the chapter opening panel, Kags and UshiWaka were honestly precious signing autographs for the kids!)
Tumblr media
I think this might be the most important panel in the chapter (to me, at least). Hinata, even after all these years, still hears Kageyama’s voice in his head, giving him advice and helping him improve. Also, I think this panel really shows how much he’s mastered beach volleyball. I don’t know if he’ll switch back to indoor when he goes home, or if he’ll stay with beach (does Japan have a beach team?) but either way, Hinata has truly, truly become an incredible athlete.

First of Daichi taking care of his kouhai ♥️♥️ I originally thought that this was another callback / parallel to when Daichi got injured but I can't find the exact moment (if it exists) still awesome though.
It almost looks like it parallels from Kita's note to Atsumu when Kita sent him home when he caught a cold though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kourai formally acknowledging Hinata as a rival!! He'll be waiting for him next time around, and Hinata's [two] rivals will be waiting for him once he gets back on his feet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This goddamn callback. I laughed at the original because it seemed like Bokuto just forgot which month it was and that was hilarious ... and then we get this punch to the gut.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's wishful thinking but I'm guessing Kenma (king of the overworked fever) is heading off to check on his friend.
Tumblr media
We also have coach Ukai waving over Shimada and Takinoue to [maybe] go check on Hinata since he has to stay. But Tsukishima Akiteru and Udai Tenma are up there to so maaaaaybe we'll get an infirmary scene with Hinata and Udai (+ Kenma) next chapter.
I'd take a shot and say maybe Kita too since he's been posted as Daichi-like and protective of his teammate's health (especially the ones like Hinata) but I'm not sure enough about the relationship to say it so confidently, though I'd like to see him lecturing Hinata.
Tumblr media
It might sound awfully ominous but lil Hinata's a monster now who strikes wariness into his opponents. Like damn, this chapter is him being acknowledged by three U19 National candidates right here.
On another note, I will literally scream if this doesn't go at least into Hinata's second year.
Not to mention the (as it has been pointed out by others) parallel between the name of this chapter and the first ever chapter: "Endings and Beginnings"
The rest of it:
Part 1 | Beginning Analysis
Part 3 | Ash Weeds through Foreshadowing

banana fish:
haven’t heard of it | absolutely never watching | might watch | currently watching | dropped | hated it | meh | a positive okay | liked it | liked it a lot! | loved it | a favorite
don’t watch period | drop if not interested within 2-3 episodes | give it a go, could be your thing | 5 star recommendation
fav characters: eiji, ash, singleast fav characters: golzine fav relationship: asheijifav moment: hmm i love the scene in the beginning where eiji pole vaults over the wall to get ash help like that was so badass, and also that scene in the museum where ash totally goes beast mode against some guys golzine sent after him (also a super badass scene haha) headcanons/theories: my fav hc is that a certain character (*no spoilers*) lives and him and eiji move to japan and live happily ever after with a dog and a bunch of adopted kids :’)unpopular opinion: idk if this counts but when I was reading the manga epilogue I was getting very romancey vibes from sing and eiji? and I kinda like the idea of them getting together after everything that happened, esp bc I think itd be hard for anyone except for sing to understand what eiji went through :( asheiji forever ofc but in the canon universe I can kinda see sing/eiji in the futurehow’d you find it: I think I just heard about it being an airing summer anime and it sounded p interesting so I decided to watch it! and the name definitely caught my intention LOLrandom thoughts: it was really good!! the ending definitely wrecked my soul and I was like shocked for days sdfhhdfsh but besides that, theres a lot of good action, character development, etc.! theres also a TON of trigger warnings that could apply tho (ex. sexual abuse, violence) but overall I rlly enjoyed it!!
(haikyuu and kny are under the read more!)
haikyuu:
haven’t heard of it | absolutely never watching | might watch | currently watching | dropped | hated it | meh | a positive okay | liked it | liked it a lot! | loved it | a favorite
don’t watch period | drop if not interested within 2-3 episodes | give it a go, could be your thing | 5 star recommendation
fav characters: hinata, suga, tendou to name a few, but honestly every character is a fave!!least fav characters: none?? I didn't really like washijou in the anime (including the ball boy arc) but hes gone through so much development in the manga I have no choice but to stan shhfsdfav relationship: kagehina!fav moment: omg theres so many, but to name a few: when hinata and kageyama finally get their new quick right at the training camp, yamaguchi’s serves in the 2nd seijou match, tsukki’s block against ushijima, nishinoya’s foot save against datekou, and the list goes on and on sfhdhfsdheadcanons/theories: I love the idea that haikyuu will end (well I hate the idea of it ending BUT) with kagehina at the 2020 Olympics on the japan national team playing together again, and some random kid sees hinata on the tv and the kid gets inspired to play vball bc of him just like how hinata started :’) ALSO manga spoilers but I saw this theory that udai tenma is like furudate’s self-insert and that that’s how he actually looks irl (which makes sense bc furudate based hq off his own hs vball experience AND tenma ends up becoming a mangaka soo...hmmm...)unpopular opinion: idk if I have any tbh! but (manga spoilers again) when the timeskip happened I saw a lot of ppl were really upset about it, and I was kinda sad we didn't get to see them as 3rd years, but I was actually so excited for the beach arc?? like holy crap it was such a plot twist and im so happy furudate took this direction, bc I honestly do think itd be kinda repetitive to see them go through second and third year and having to introduce tons of new characters would be a bit much :( how’d you find it: I had just finished watching yoi and I was like “ok im not gonna become obsessed w anime buuuut maybe ill just try another sports anime” and then i saw haikyuu and I was like “why not lol” and that was when I first started watching it!random thoughts: haikyuu is honestly my all-time fave!!! like it literally inspired me to start playing vball and hinata is such a great protagonist and its literally a work of art and actually super accurate and realistic gameplay (mostly, the quick attack is kinda out there BUT STILL) and yeah this show is just so dear to my heart :’))
kny:
haven’t heard of it | absolutely never watching | might watch | currently watching | dropped | hated it | meh | a positive okay | liked it | liked it a lot! | loved it | a favorite
don’t watch period | drop if not interested within 2-3 episodes | give it a go, could be your thing | 5 star recommendation (honestly I feel like almost anyone could get into kny)
fav characters: inosuke, tanjirou, kanrojileast fav characters: muzan but even he;s rlly complex and fav relationship: shinazugawa/Tomioka and kanroji/iguro! (also zenitsu/tanjirou/inosuke/nezuko are squad goals haha)                                          fav moment: literally any fight scene fshfhsf, like theyre all so well animated and the demon backstories are so sad omg                                      headcanons/theories: sabito was tomioka's first love and the one that got away :’( but he ends up falling in love w shinazugawa and they help each other through the grief of losing their loved ones                                              unpopular opinion: none in particular!
how’d you find it: id heard a ton of good reviews about it, but I put off watching it mainly bc of school and whatnot, but then winter break came and I had a ton of free time and I ended up bingewatching it lmao random thoughts: ok kny gives me serious hxh chimera arc vibes?? i mean personally i would consider it a lot less tragic but the demon backstories are kinda like the ants and the invincible nature of muzan vs. meruem, and also tanjirou willing to die for nezuko being similar to killua and gon ...much to think about ssfshhf
