Look. That episode Mando episode.
Man, i´m not even angry, i´m just disappointed , cause I KNOW how good this show can be. Specially this season that´s, supposedly, gonna revolve around what it means to be a Mandalorian and Mandalore's history
Din is such an interesting, compeling and complex character and he could be so much more if only THEY- JUST. LET. HIM.
They are completely misunderstanding what´s what drove people to Mando at first. Yes, it´s cute to see this bounty hunter begrudgingly take care of a jedi baby BUT the show is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT! It was about dissecting this misterious and closed off character who´s being through so much, it was seeing how all that trauma that he has - that made him separate himself from everything and everyone - was what ultimately helped him connect with Grogu. It´s lovely to see him open up little by little knowing he shouldn't, knowing that a goodbye is imminent. It was complex, it had layers.
And Grogu. I know everyone jokes about how he was just made to sell toys and i thought so as well before starting the show a few years back. I used to really hate him and all the fuss everyone was making around him being a cute baby, but when i finally watched the show, i sat captivated and saw it was so much more. He´s more than just cute baby, he is a survivor ,just like Din, and has lived through so many things. His story is so interesting and he could be much more than a “marketable sw mascot”, but again, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWING THEM THAT!
It´s so frustrating watching this first episode and see both our main characters being reduced to “cute baby” and “dad”. They feel as they have no agency. And damn my brain for making me think this, but i felt, watching this episode, as i felt watching the last Jurassic World movie. Everyone is a diluted version of their character, everyone moves and does whatever the plot and script needs them to do without any explanation or reason to why or HOW they did it and everything just moves SO FUCKING FAST for no reason.
The first 3 episodes of the 1st season were such bangers cause they were the total opposite of this one. They were paced so well, letting viewers experience events along the characters, they made an amazing use of Show not tell (cof cof what do you mean Grogu was away from Din for around a year, Favreau cof cof), they introduced a conflict in a natural and organic way, and most importantly, they trusted the audience to understand what was happening without having a character explain it as we were a bunch of idiots or smth.
Think about that scene in the 3rd episode when Din decides to take Grogu back from the imperials. We, as an audience, understand (without seeing the guy´s face) what´s going on in his mind in that moment; the doubt, the regret, the decision, everything just through body language, well done cinematography and music. We didn´t need Din or someone else going “you felt bad so you went back for him”, no, we just understood, and the show trusted us to understand that, to come to our own conclussions and understanding of the scene and motivations of the characters. AND WE HAD JUST MET THE GUY.
The difference here from last episode is that they gave us something to work with and, watching the episodes, you understand Din´s final decision.
Now we just don´t know what the hell Din´s thinking, and not because of a mystery or to build tension, it just feels as if Din is a weird NPC that moves the story forward and is there only to show us cool action scenes, cameos and Mandalore lore, without relating to anything. He feels as if he´s just not thinking at all, not as being stupid, but just as if he literally had no mind of his own, no opinions,no feelings, no nothing. And Grogu is just..there, i guess. Being cute and that´s all.
Also, not as important as the narrative and script issues i had with the episode but, when i first watched The Mandalorian - begrudgingly, i must add, as i actually hated star wars but a friend of mine kept insisting that i gave it a try - i was amazed at how detailed the effects were, how everything felt alive and lived in. I remember rewatching again and again the scene where Din lands the Razor Crest in Arvala 7 and just admire the detail of the dust and water moving with the ship´s power, the way everything felt so real. Everything in the 1st and 2nd season ( i have my issues with the effects in season 2 as well but they´re still okay, imo) felt alive, real. And wow, what a downgrade this episode was.
For a show with a ridiculous budget it´s not showing at all. The kid helmet at the start looked like a toy (i can let it slide cause it´s literally brand new so you could argue there´s no reason for it to not look all shiny and clean), the alligator was okay, i guess, but didn´t feel nearly as real as the  Krayt Dragon from S2, and the rest...to be honest, not surprised at all. I kept getting thrown off by the straight up green screen feel of the Greef vs Random Pirates scene (Also an unnecessary scene, tbh, felt like an escuse for a “cool star wars space battle ™” ). The Mandalorian castle was cool, tho, i guess.
I´m not dissing the people who worked in the show´s Visual Effects at all, btw. I know they can do amazing things, cause they have, i´m sure it was more of a direction and studio issue.
It surprised me how Mando´s episode in TBOBF felt much more interesting, well paced, compelling and true to Din´s character than this episode.
I know it might be way too early to judge the season as we only have this 1st episode but it´s not looking too good, Mando nation.
I want to be clear, I´m not saying everything sucked, either. I´m just frustrated cause this is my favourite show, it means a lot to me and i just want it to be as good as i know it can be.

I've decided that the Ahsoka show is probably at its best when the characters AREN'T SPEAKING. Which is unfortunate because it's a show that relies so much on its fun visuals and its fan service and its one-liners to do a lot of the work, and yet the characters talk so much without saying much of anything at all. Certainly nothing of any real importance or that pays off later.
I rewatched episode 5 today and was just hit by how much I genuinely loved the scene where Ahsoka goes to interact with the badly wounded clone during the Ryloth flashback sequence. It hit me when I first watched it as well and stuck with me as the best scene out of the entire episode, probably the best scene in the entire show so far. Everyone else was screaming about the Vader flickers and I'm over here obsessing over Ahsoka just silently walking over to an injured clone, sitting down to touch his hand, and the clone silently reaching over to place his hand atop hers. The whole scene probably takes place over about 20 seconds at MOST, and it's entirely without dialogue.
And it's PERFECT.
We get to just watch Ariana Greenblatt's face as she cycles through grief and pain and love for this clone whose name she may not even know or remember anymore and joy that he's still able to reach out to her to provide HER comfort when he feels her hand on his arm. We can't even see the clone's face, we're stuck looking at Ahsoka work through the emotions of this single interaction and how deeply it impacts her. It reminds us that the clones were people she knew, people she loved, people she felt responsible for protecting. These were her friends and they loved her, too. And so many of them died, while she still lives.
It lasts 20 seconds and doesn't have a single line of dialogue and it tells us SO MUCH about Ahsoka's relationship to the clones, both then and now. It tells us so much about how she feels about the war, the men she loved, and the fact that so many of them were lost, long before Order 66 happened. And she was powerless to stop any of it. We don't need dialogue to understand what she's feeling in this moment because they actually stopped to let the actor and the scene speak for itself, in the simplest possible way.
And then compare it to the scene where Ahsoka connects to the purrgil. SHE'S not speaking, but we keep cutting away from Ahsoka to listen to Jacen chattering away at Hera ("Is she going to speak to the purrgil?" "That's the idea" "Is the whale going to take her to Ezra?" "That's the hope, kid") and basically spelling out the plan and the scene for us in a way that we really did not need, especially since they have Ahsoka and Huyang basically explain it themselves later anyway. We're also cutting away to Carson Teva blathering to the Fleet Commander and stalling for time, despite the fact that we absolutely did not actually need to see that happen. So the emotion of the moment where Ahsoka is connecting with the purrgil keeps getting undercut by all of this extraneous dialogue by the other characters that is adding nothing to the plot or the scene. The additional dialogue also makes the scene last a lot longer, so it feels like Ahsoka's standing there for an age before anything happens. It's a LOT longer than the quick scene between her and the clone, but it's massively less impactful.

Ahsoka "Shadow Warrior" Liveblog
*biting nails*
Okay first off, really? That's the title we're going with? Lol Filoni. Okay.
Open on Seatos, okay.
You know it just occurred to me? The long lingering shots we're so fond of, and the deliberately relaxed pacing are very animesque.
Theatrical serious anime, I mean.
In particular I'm thinking of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which liked to diverge from the plot to just kind of wander through shots of the environment, for atmosphere purposes I guess.
Wonder if that or something similar was an influence on Filoni's directing style.
The woods also look very ethereal.
Hi Hera!
Frick Jacen is still so precious. I love him. So much.
!!!
Oh! Oh this music cue right here reminds me a lot of a specific part of "Sabine Sees Ezra".
HUYANG IS SAD, NOOOOOOOO.
God, how much death has Huyang already seen? How many Jedi has Huyang had to say goodbye to?
He misses the Order so much. *sobs*
Friiiiiiiiiiiiick the World Between Worlds looks so GOOD in live action.
Rosario finally channeling a bit of Rebels!Ahsoka here.
"Tell me what's going on." Well Ahsoka I think the Force is personally whacking you over the head with the Vision Stick to make you get over yourself.
Oooh Ahsoka flinched when Anakin ignited his saber.
Leia mention! Eeee!
Jacen is totally Force Sensitive, of course. Can hear the lightsabers, either the lingering echos from the fight, OR, he can hear into Ahsoka's vision.
KANAN NAMEDROP.
WEEEEEP.
Anakin being super extra of course.
HO JEEZ.
HE SLICED THE PATHWAY.
Yeah, so with this transition this is definitely a Force Vision, not the actual World Between Worlds. This is almost exactly like the transitions in Ezra's visions in the Jedi Temple on Lothal.
BABY 'SOKA!
BAAAAABBYYYYY 'SOOOOOOOKKAAAAAA.
Is this one long TCW reference?
I feel like it's gotta be.
"We lost so many." Yeeeeeah, that'll happen in a war. It sucks.
Ohhhhhhhh I am going to have to reblog ALL THE META about these scenes, aren't I?
I just know TCW fans have got a million thoughts centerfuging in their brains right now about Anakin, about his relationship with Ahsoka, about the long shadow he cast over her formative development.
FRICK THAT SHOT OF ANAKIN CALMLY WALKING AHEAD INTO THE HAZE.
"THE HERO WITH NO FEAR".
AND THE FLASH SHOT TO VADER.
Outside the vision and the X-wings are sweeping, looking for...? Ahsoka I guess. Because that's what they're going to find, eventually.
"Normally no." LOL HUYANG KNOWS FORCE SHENANIGANS BE AT PLAY.
Also Hera, come on, you saw Ezra phase through a solid rock wall, people can absolutely disappear into thin air.
Chopper being a grouchy sassmaster as per usual lol.
SEIGE OF MANDALORE SIEGE OF MANDALORE SIEGE OF MANDALORE.
"Within you will be everything I am." THAT IS NOT REASSURING ANAKIN.
Oh yeah, yep, I'm not going to be capable of being normal about this, I need ALLLLLLLL the meta from dedicated Anakin girlies on this one.
Frick, his eyes went yellow.
Hayden is making this look effortless, amazing.
OHHHHHHHH OH AHSOKA'S EYES FLASHED EYLLOW JUST BRIEFLY OHHHHHH WOW.
SHE PASSED THE TEST.
Ohhhhhhh and the pathways are dissolving, something Force Weird be about to happen.
We're exiting the vision lol.
Jacen: *smiles*
Me: HE'S SO PRECIOUS IMMA DIE.
Oh yeah no, this episode was VERY heavily styled after some theatrical anime director, I will bet money on it.
Frick, Jacen playing with Chopper is the cutest shit ever.
WHITE ROBES WHITE ROBES THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Yeah no, the height discrepancy between Rosario and Mary still bugs me.
Hello Rosario can emote, lol.
PURRGIL!
:(((((
~We're gonna follow the purrgil, we're gonna follow the purrgil.~
"That'll do." ARE WE GONNA RIDE SOME PURRGIL? LOL.
Teva is carrying this scene lolol.
"Okay. But you're not gonna believe me."
"How the whales took Ezra and the bad guys far far away." SOBBING, BLUBBERING, NO NOTES, CAN'T TALK.
Well this part is definitely Miyezakian.
Ahsoka looks so much happier and more content. *sobs*
Lol the "HO BOY" look on that Rebel commander's face.
Aw man, this is the kind of wonder and disbelief and awe that Lothal must have had in the finale.
Living legends. Like magic. Come to save them.
FRIIIIIIIIICK.
I HAVE NO NOTES.
I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY.
HELLO YES, THIS IS THE FORM THAT I WAS WAITING FOR. THE DEPTH OF EMOTIONAL RESONANCE. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF WHO THIS CHARACTER IS, WHAT COMPLEXES SHE'S WORKING THROUGH, HOW SHE'S GOING TO RECONCILE HER IDENTITY AS VADER'S APPRENTICE AND MOVE FORWARD, FORGIVE HERSELF FOR THE GUILT.
I AM ROLLING IN THE DEPTHS OF IT.
ALSO, SPACE MARINERS, SPACE MARINERS, SPACE MARINERS.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

Clone Wars - Shadow of Malevolence
Having expended everything I remembered about this three parter in the first part, I'm going into this one not remembering anything whatsoever.
First of all 'diabolical droid commander, General Grievous' I love that the writers simply do not know what this man is. Droid? Not a droid? Who knows, not the people writing this that's for sure!
Tumblr media
I love when the clones get the salt and pepper hair... absolute top tier look right there. And one of them even gets a name, Matchstick - taking bets on if he survives the episode because I have a haunting feeling the answer is no.
"The Jedi are never that harsh with their clones." "The care these Jedi show for their troops is a weakness." "A weakness we shall continue to exploit."
Cannot get over that this exchange between Dooku & Grievous is actually about Grievous punching a head directly off a battle droid and getting told off because they're expensive. It's weakness not to decapitate your troops with a single punch, this is why the Jedi will lose. Clearly.
Honestly, I think that there's a strong preference for Grievous in like, the 2D series where he's an incredible badass but I love coughing little freak Grievous. Most character of all time. He has several things wrong with him.
Their target is a medical station with 60,000 injured clones though, fucking. Hands off the boys, Grievous.
One thing I like about this episode is that it really gives us the first bits of the Ahsoka & Anakin sibling dynamic that works so well for me. We got lots of them interacting last episode, but I don't think it has quite the charm of their back and forth over how Anakin TOTALLY doesn't hate Ahsoka's flying he just enjoys her company so she should come with him as the gunner and definitely not fly. Awkward big brother Anakin is my favorite.
UNEXPECTED NALA SE APPEARANCE. I forgot she was here so early. Headcanon possibilities abound with that, is Omega on the station somewhere? What about early pre-deployment batch? Some of the behind the scenes stuff makes it sound like they were only allowed into the field because someone spoke up for them after 99 died, but they're probably still Nala Se's pet project to experiment on. So many options just with her being here.
"Broadside, if we make it through this one, drinks are on me." "I can already taste it."
OH YEAH THEY'RE TOAST. AT LEAST ONE OF THEM. NEVER MAKE PLANS.
I love that Plo Koon knows that this random smuggler's route is the habitat of DANGEROUS POSSIBLY SHIP EATING SPACE MANTA RAYS. Is he particularly knowledgeable in smuggler's routes or does he just know a lot about space marine biology? I hope that he has a book about the Purrgils.
The "It's just smiling at ya!" bit from Anakin. I adore him, god.
Also yep, Matchstick is gone, doomed by making plans for after the mission ;A; don't like that, put him back. (Also lost an unseen clone named Tag, which is the cutest name ever oh my god)
And once again Plo Koon saves the day with clear headed thinking mid-battle. Best Jedi master.
At the end there's another little exchange that caught my attention, this one between Nala Se & Anakin:
Do not take the lives you saved lightly. I don't. But I also can't take the lives I lost lightly.
Once again I am TORN UP by how much Anakin cares about people and wants to do right by them, that even in victory he's thinking about their lives being lost I am In Agony about it. But also, it's interesting to see this Nala Se who seems a little more caring about the clones. She didn't escape immediately and stayed to oversee the evacuation, for one, but also praising Anakin for the lives he saved. She's almost likable and then goes on to do things like drug Fives to lead directly to his death.
I was going to do all three tonight but I'm getting a little sleepy so third one tomorrow. I am going to be turning around the thought of Omega or the batch being on this station with Nala Se ALL NIGHT, I just know it.

MY THOUGHTS ON AHSOKA- Part 3 "Time to Fly"
My first thought: it was much better than the first 2. Altho, I wish it had been a tad longer, even if the length is somewhat consistent with the Mandoverse shows.
As a Rebels fan, I feel fed. I finally got to see 1 character out of the 4 I want to see, so there's hope that soon I'll see the rest. Right, Filoni? RIGHT?!!
Hopes aside, let's get to the details of this episode.
I loved Sabine's training session, both with Huyang and Ahsoka. It reminded me a lot of The Trials of the Darksaber. The constant callbacks are impossible not to have them. And Huyang, please!! 🤣
Also, I loved the music during that scene (and throughout the whole episode). Well, is Kevin Kiner, what else could I have expected but greatness?
Honestly, I knew that the meeting with the senators and Mon Mothma was going to go as exactly as it went. I knew Hamato Xiono was going to be that jerk, and the rest of the senators wouldn't be any better. What I did love was Mon asking for Jacen (!!! which gave me hope to see him soon) and joking about the chaos the kid and Chopper surely were causing. My headcanon is that Mon is just remembering their shenanigans in Yavin 4 or Hoth or whatever else Hera has been stationed since then.
And I'm glad that they pointed out that even Hera believed Ezra is dead, she still looked for him. As I said in my review last week, I think Hera made herself believe that, otherwise she couldn't have lived her life, and raise Jacen and fight in the rebellion and now help with the new republic. The uncertainty of someone's disappearance is much harder to bear than their death.
Oh my gosh! The scream I let out when Jacen appeared!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭 He's so precious!!! With his green hair and saying Aunt Sabine (that means he calls Uncles Zeb and Alex/Sasha/Kallus, right?) and wanting to be a jedi just like his dad was (Would have been too much to name Kanan, just once??!!) Anyway... we got live-action Jacen!!!!!!
I love the conversation about the force between Ahsoka and Sabine. It put to rest some of my doubts about the whole Sabine being Ahsoka's padawan thing. How they explained it is pretty much how I think the Force works, so it felt good to have it explicitly confirmed in canon. And like it has been said, just talent isn't enough, just like in real life. Some people have a natural talent for an art or anything really, and if they cultivate it, then they'll excel at it. But that doesn't mean that other people less talented cannot reach the same level of excellence; they just need to work harder to get there.
And the opposite is also true. If a talented person doesn't work on their talent, it can become stagnant or even lose the ability altogether. With the Jedi, we've seen it with many Order 66 survivors. Obi-Wan, Kanan, Cere, Cal, Grogu, etc., they cut themselves from the Force either on purpose or as a trauma response, and all had to work to gain the control of his powers back.
Also, I think seeing the Force this way, it recognizes the different religions and presentation of the Force throughout the galaxy. People like Sabine or Chirrut Imwe or even Han Solo, or entire species like the Lasat or Chiss that for whatever reason the Force works different for them.
About the comment about the standards that Jedi had to accept younglings in the Order, I mean, I get it. The jedi couldn't accept everyone. They had to focus on those who had better chances to keep up with the training. Not just that, those were also at a greater risk to misuse the Force if they managed to gain some control over it on their own or under bad influences.
Huyang mentioning the disaster lineage was the best!!
The dog fight was great. Marrok finally spoke, and as expected, the baddies in fighting couldn't be left out. And I love that when Ahsoka and Sabine started to work together is when they shot down the fighters. And Ahsoka going outside in a space suit felt taken out of an episode of TCW. Really cool!
PURRGIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have Purrgil!!!!!!!!!!!! I love those space whales/squids things so much. My only complaint is that they should've destroyed at least one of the fighters. I mean, aren't the Purrgils famous for destroying ships that come in contact with? I'm just saying!
Like I said in the beginning, I love this episode, and it has my hyped for what will come next! 👉👈 Is it Tuesday yet? 🥺

AHSOKA EP. 3 RECAP
these are my absolutely unabridged thoughts. less of a recap more of a please let’s talk about this shit!! SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
1. THE PURRGIL. I love them so much. I cried to see them in live action. they’re HUGE!! they’re wonderful. someone gif the Ahsoka purrgil pleeeeeease!!
Tumblr media
2. “I suppose you do come from a long line of unusual jedi” NICE REFERENCE TO THE DISASTER LINEAGE I love this
ALSO love that this show is addressing the ongoing debate between the “anyone can tap into the force” camp and the “some people are born with force abilities camp”—it’s both! and it can be both.
3. love that Jacen is in this and also the subtle Kanan reference I died (“I lost friends people that were like family to Thrawn etc etc)
Tumblr media
4. This is the most female characters I’ve seen in any Star Wars project, EVER. this is the first time I’ve ever seen a space battle (a gun”man” and a pilot and a pursuer in a gunship) all take place between female characters. this is so significant to me I can’t even explain it. watching the scene with the star fight felt to me like that moment when I first watched Rey wield the force (the first force sensitive female character we’d had on the big screen). I wanted to cry. I’m so happy.
Tumblr media
5. surprisingly I don’t have a problem with spacesuit Ahsoka. it’s one of those weird things that sort of works 😂 even though it’s so weird. like that part of TLJ when Leia freezes in space
I’m finally caught up!!! please tell me your takes.

Ahsoka ep 3 was a shorter ep than the first 2, yet so much!! Going on!!! I'm having emotions.
The training scene!! I'm a little choked up over Ahsoka having a padawan and being a teacher. Ahsoka being for someone else what Anakin was for her.
There's things about Ahsoka that remind me of Obi Wan and things that remind me of Anakin, both showing in this episode. She has Obi Wan's sense of calm, yet she's not as patient. She has Anakin's boldness and daredevil qualities yet in her, it's more tempered.
Sabine so far seems like she's not attuned to the force. Yet the force is in all living things. Seems like there'd be a value in learning to listen to it and being aware of it, even if not everyone is going to have the same talent level with it.
Sabine is already an accomplished fighter, but she's "rusty" due to lack of practice--she was doing it all a time as a teenager. In peacetime, not so much. But muscle memory and all that, it'll come back to her. I think Ahsoka realizes the disciplines and honing of her training can help Sabine. Are we getting closer to the reasons Ahsoka took Sabine on as a Padawan? Even if Sabine isn't strong with the force. Just as Kanan trained Sabine, because she needed help with the Darksaber.
Both Sabine and Ahsoka are lost right now, in different ways. They can help each other.
The Jedi order is almost completely wiped out and it's a new era and Ahsoka knows first hand the flaws of the Jedi order. She's open to trying new ways. It's to the benefit of the Jedi to not be narrow about who can get training. Whether, and if, people turn out to be strong in the force, is a question mark. And of course, Huyang is going to argue the old ways. It's literally his programming. "it was done that way for millennia." It's a new era. The Jedi are almost all gone. And just because things were always done a certain way for a very long time doesn't mean that's the only way they can or should be done.
"I don't need Sabine to be a Jedi. I need her to be herself." See...there it is. I don't think this is about Ahsoka needing Sabine to be some force sensitive surprise prodigy. It's about Sabine, and what the training can do for Sabine. Sabine as she is. Sabine is enough. Sabine moving a mug with her brain isn't the actual point.
Hera in the meeting with the senators. MY HEART!!! She lost people she loved, who were like family. And then we get to meet Jacen. Hello smol green-haired one!!!!!!
omg it's Kaz's dad!!
Purrgil!!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!
Sabine needed Ahsoka to fly like Hera. That's essentially what Sabine was requesting in order to able to hit the targets.

Ahsoka Trailer Thoughts
First of all, I just found out that it's been 5 years since Star Wars Rebels ended. I feel old because Rebels started when I was but a child. 😭 We've been waiting for Ezra to come back for 5 YEARS!!! If he is found, I think I'll literally cry.
-Now that I got that out of the way, I don't believe Sabine is force sensitive. Oftentimes, trailers set things up in a way that aren't entirely the truth, and I can't see the writers having Sabine be force sensitive all of a sudden. I think her relationship with Ahsoka will be similar to her with Kanan, where Ahsoka is a mentor that tells her about the force, but not in a Jedi sort of way. Technically, everybody has the force (it connects all living things), but not everybody can wield it in the way that Jedi & Sith can. Similar to how Kanan helped her get in tune with her inner force to use the Darksaber, Ahsoka will help her find balance to grow as a person. (I also think that when she calls Ahsoka 'master', she's being sarcastic in the same way Ezra was with Captain Rex)
-I love the Kanan parallel so much!!! Totally not emotional about it.
-I used to be be such a nerd (and still am) about the World Between Worlds. I know that the portal in the Lothal temple was destroyed, but I believe there are other openings. It's literally a in-between (dimension?) that is separated from space and time, so how could there only be one entrance? Maybe the Purrgil have a link to it like the Loth Wolves did.
-The clip that has Sabine walking towards the mural and touching Ezra's face looks nearly identical to the final scene in Rebels. I'm not sure if it's the exact same scene but in live action, or if it's a callback/ parallel. I'm betting on the first option.
-I know we saw a little in the Mandalorian, but I'm ready to see Ahsoka fighting with her sabers in live action.
-Thrawn!!!!!! I love that they brought Lars back to play him.
Overall, I feel like my younger self is going crazy with all the lore from Rebels and Clone Wars. I'm a little nervous but I trust Dave Filoni and the rest of the crew to pull it off. I can't wait to see how the series turns out!

Chapter 17 Thoughts
Spoilers for The Mandalorian Season 3
I AM SO HAPPY THIS SHOW IS BACK OMG!
I was a smiling a lot through this whole episode. It was exactly the campy, fun introduction back into the show that I needed.
Now, like I'm doing with TBB, here are my bullet point thoughts on the episode!
Did not expect to open with The Armourer.
Love the close-up shot of the metal being bent and the following far-out shot where it's flat. Little continuity error I immediately noticed, but it doesn't ruin anything. It just makes me laugh. 😂
Ooooh, the helmet that was circulating as a leak.
Loving the little ceremony.
Is this Din?
It doesn't really look like Din.
So the ceremony doesn't happen in Mando'a then? 🤔
WHAT IN THE MOSOSAUR CROCODILE IS THAT THING?!
Ngl, this is exactly the type of thing I would've expected to happen during Din's creed ceremony. 🤣
This is absolutely not how I was anticipating this season to start but I am not mad about it.
Okay it wasn't Din because N-1 inbound!
Grogu popping up in the back. 🤣
Honestly, I feel like the Jawas could uncover every secret in the Star Wars galaxy.
Grogu giving The Armourer puppy dog eyes. 🥺
PURRGIL?!
I did not expect that WTF.
Little nod to the fact that we're getting live action Rebels? 😉 I wonder if they'll actually be relevant to this show.
Grogu snuggling up against Din. 🥺
Also, I love how he can just come and go from the cockpit as he pleases.
Grogu is so relatable because if I was Force sensitive, I too would use it to spin around in office chairs and steal M&Ms.
And Greef being High Magistrate? Fancy.
Not quite as cool as Lord Mand'alor but still impressive.
We love a duel. 🩶
So they are gonna address the Cara Dune problem! 🤣
The IG statue is made out of bits of IG???
Din trying to reconstruct droids to help him? Character growth. I love it. 🥰
OKAY WELL THAT WAS KINDA HORRIFYING
Also did Din just throw Grogu??? 😭🤣
I love the Anzellans omg.
DIN HUNCHED UP IN THE SHOP I'M CRYING 😭🤣
It's even funnier thinking about the fact that he would've had to have crawled in there. 🤣
Hahahaha Din having to stop Grogu from messing with the Anzellans! 🤣
The dad vibes are strong.
"NO SQUEEZIE"
Grogu's little wave!
Din teaching Grogu things will be the death of me.
I can't deal with this adorableness!
I knew a lot of the trailer footage had to be from the first few episodes but there was a lot of stuff that I did not expect to see in the same episode!
Din pushing Grogu back into place. 🥰
Also the fact that Grogu knew to get under Din's bandolier means that he totally knew what was gonna happen next. 🤣
FORGET KEVIN'S CRYPTIC HEMLOCK HEAD TWEET BEING ABOUT THE BAD BATCH
GORIAN SHARD LOOKS LIKE POND WEED HELP
This is amazing. 🤣
That Mandalorian castle looks like it's owned by Stark Industries.
Ngl, this last bit felt a little bit out of place with the rest of the episode but I get it's importantance!
I just think the vibe of this scene doesn't match the fun campiness of the rest of it.
But it sets up some interesting stuff so I'm excited to see where it goes!
Not the end of the episode already! 😭
Back to waiting a week. 🥲
I loved this episode so much! It's not a new favourite or anything but it's exactly the fun, quirky episode that I needed to get back into this show (it was also a nice break from the spooky vibes in TBB).
There were definitely a lot of surprises that kept me on my toes, so I love that! But the adorableness of Din and Grogu is what I really missed. 🥰 Din teaching Grogu what it means to be a Mandalorian has my heart melting. Also appreciate the fact that Grogu is still being a little terror. 🤣
Strong start and I am very excited to see where this season is going!

Fod this means they def made Sabine force sensitive didntw they. I fucjing HATE that so fucking much.
Yknow I’m kinda annoyed they wanna expand to another galaxy. It’s supposed to be just one galaxy. Far far away.
How does this puzzle know that anyway
Does this just. Is this just the path the purrgil always take?? I’m so confused how this puzzle would fucking know that!
This makes no sense!!
I really like Shin. She’s an interesting character. Always watching. Always calculating. Still learning. She’s gonna be so fun I can tell

Wrong time of day.
Also ahsoka isn’t in white and she doesn’t have the cool stick

God I miss Kanan so so much.
I do like that sabine did get to train more (now that I know she’s not force sensitive) bc that means she can spar with ezra when he gets back. Sibling activities. Roughhousing until hera comes n yells at them.
Not sure I like this big ship
I am so curious about that inquisitor
I do enjoy the end credit designs. Very Lothal.
Okay see y’all for the next ep next week

The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 1 - The Apostate.
I never do these ‘My thoughts on’ posts coz I figured no one cares, but Don't knock it til you try it, I guess. Here are some thoughts I had watching it -
An Alligator ruined that kids little party so I will be calling the covenants new planet ‘Space Florida’ until told otherwise.
Did Din see they were in trouble and rush in to save them, or did he sit back and watch for a while as he tried to remember if this was part of the ceremony.
When The Armorer first said the whole ‘bathe in the living waters’ thing and Din was like ‘but there’s no water?’ I thought it was Mandalorian Idiom like ‘when pigs fly’
I low key hope there are no waters and Din has to realise the only think that makes him Mandalorian are the friends he made along the way or something like that.
I love the Purrgil (I could do without everyone who recognises them from Rebels acting like they’re the only person who’s seen Rebels however) I just love Star Wars, so anything remotely related to the world of Star Wars and I'll lose my shit. If I see a Loth-cat, I hear the word caf, if they reuse a planet, I love it.
They gentrified the pirate cove. The bastards.
Of all the side quests Din has been offered ‘become a Thane of Nevarro, you can even purchase a house’ is my favourite.
The episode paused to give us a truly batshit ‘let me drink in the school’ Monty Python sketch and I request they do this once an episode.
I saw a lot of articles demanding to know what happened to Cara Dune but honestly, they all had the same energy as my Grandma asking ‘are you still friends with Susan from your year 9 English class?’ Like, we worked on a group project years ago and last I saw she was posting shitty all lives matter takes on Facebook.
Considering the First Order is kind of supposed to be a look at this right wing resurgence. (The enemies where once nazis and now they're angsty little white boys who wanna be nazis) it could have been interesting to have Greef be like ‘hey you still friends with Cara?’ and Din go ‘she started saying stuff like ‘I don't always agree with the First Order but every now and then they say what we’re all thinking’ and now we don’t talk anymore”. But, I understand the importance of separating a character from an actor so it’s probably better they don't do that.
I’m glad they didn’t bring back IG-11. I kind of don’t want them to cheapen his heart wrenching death scene, but this is Star Wars, when has death ever meant anything? Can't wait to have him back.
90% sure Grogu was trying to eat the Anzellans
If this season doesn't win an Emmy it’s because they cut out a scene where Din crawled on his hands and knees to get into that droidsmiths.
I hope Din teaching Grogu how to fly becomes a Chekov's driving lesson and Grogu has to fly the ship to save the day.
That dogfight with the pirates was pure Saturday morning cartoon and camp and it’s why I love Star Wars.
I have never been sure if Mandalore was a planet or a planetary system so this episode did kinda clear some of that up. (And it’s always fun to see more Mandalorian places)
Bo-Katan's hair is giving me Halloween Store Ginger Spice Wig realness and I’m sort of into it. I also love how all the other Star Wars ladies are infamous for constantly changing hairstyles and she just went ‘nah, this is the one’
Bo-Katan sitting/slouching/laying on her chair is me every day, sprawled on out the sofa trying to figure out why have back problems. Finally, the representation we need.
Overall, solid first episode. It kind of felt like when you start up Skyrim again after not playing for a while and just spend the first hour or so just remembering where you got up to.
I enjoyed the different in tone to this episode. The first episode of Season 1 showed a lone ranger type, mowing down enemies and having no time for people like Greef. In this episode he is much less bloodthirsty and we see him catching up with multiple friends throughout the episode. I understand the need to up the drama and stakes with every season, but it's also nice to see your character get to enjoy the benefits of their success and character development.
I know some people are mad that the show had no planned ending and will keep going for as long as they want. People have been saying this will make the show ‘aimless’ but the Mandalorian has kind of always been an aimless wander through the galaxy, picking up friends and questing and I think this episode show cased that.
Finally, I saw a review saying that the Mandalorian premiere fails to match the high bar set by Andor and it pales by comparison. That's like saying winter isn't as warm as summer. They’re different things, that do different jobs in the franchise. (Also, I remember when Andor premiered and there were plenty of revies saying it was no The Mandalorian)
It’s too cakes! Two amazingly good cakes! Andor has a prison break episode and it's a gut punch of a saga that makes you feel the need to go for walk and appreciate your freedom after you watch it. The Mandalorian had a prison break episode and it was a fun romp of double crossing and cartoon violence. And we get to have both, and it’s great and I just love Star Wars in all shapes and sizes.
I have more to say but I'm gonna leave it there, I might do one of these for the next episode, but we’ll see. All in all, it was a good solid The Mandalorian episode and I am a fan.

imma bombard you with questions for scientific research (don’t feel pressured to answer though)
what are your thoughts on ahsoka so far? how would you rate the show out of 10? what’s your favorite episode so far? what’s your least favorite? who’s your favorite character? what is your favorite scene? what are your thoughts on episode 6?
please tag me if you answer so i get the notification! <3
bonus: what’s your favorite star wars movie and character?
Ok im gonna take that it's a general question because if not i could go on a rant over the show's details, for now lemme keep it simple:
My thoughts overall: this is by far my favorite star wars show so far, every character is amazing, the direction and writing are so much fun and it has the bonus of making my mom, who introduced me to star wars but has long stopped liking the franchise, go right back to watching it, i love how dave plays with the mythology of it all, it feels like there are serious stakes and consequences to actions that are usually just not there in other shows, i have so so soooo many thoughts but again, overall, im loving it and i can't wait to see where they are going next, specially a season 2 in the case it happens.
How would i rate the show from 1 to 10: 100, but im biased lmao, this show IS about my favorite character in star wars ever
Favorite episode: ok this is a hard one because they got progressively better but right now i guess episode 5?
Least favorite episode: probably episode 2, was hooked from episode 1 but didnt feel the same... still good tho
Favorite character: Ahsoka, but im biased lmao, i know most animation fans here on tumblr are not feeling it very much but to me this version of the characters looks way more, in personality and actions, to what i pictured clone wars ahsoka would be as an adult, like the mortis vision of her, in comparission i really didn't like rebels ahsoka as much, still good, but really down the list for me. Huyang is a very close second to favorite character
Favorite scene: from episode 5 either ahsoka talking to the purrgil or young ahsoka with anakin in the world between worlds
Thoughts on episode 6: i was worried ahsoka would get the boba fett treatment but im happy to be wrong, they developed the other side of the coin so well, im obsessed with every hint and lore dropped, obsessed with the nightsisters and the night troopers, with enoch, with ezra, with sabine, with shin looking like she's starting to feel conflict, i have so many thoughts i cant just put into a small answer lmao. Oh and of course im in love with Sabine's Howler, aka the crocodoggo
BONUS ROUND
Favorite star wars movie and character: Rogue one and Ahsoka(what a shock lmao)

‼️‼️AHSOKA EP 5 SPOILERS‼️‼️‼️‼️
You have been warned
I have WAYYY too many feelings about this episode. Like omg??
I will try to make this as comprehensible as possible but it’s 11:30 and I’ve been up since 6 and I’m REALLY EXCITED
Okay RAPID FIRE
Huyang holding Sabines helmet was so sad and it felt like he was kind of mourning her and I swear I almost cried
(Technically last episode) Hera getting there BARELY too late made me so sad
THE WHOLE AHSOKA AND ANAKIN THING
THE BANTER “You look the same” “You look old” “Well that happens”
I LOVE THEMMMMM
Them fighting, Anakin sending her back to their first battle to go through everything
ALL THE CLONES
HER HOLDING THE HAND OF THE CLONE AND HIM HOLDING HER HAND BACK
I saw Rex in the corner of the screen and I was like OH MY GOD ITS REX LET HIM TALK PLEASEEEEE
I retained very little of that scene I was so focused on Rex
He had like 5 words BUT HE TALKED
HE DID IT
He didn’t take his helmet off BUT WE HEARD HIM TALK TO AHSOKA
AND IN THE CREDITS IT WAS CAPTAIN/COMMANDER REX
I actually had such an emotionally reaction to him being called commander. I was for a week but IT STILL HAPPENED
And most importantly Temuera Morrison as Rex FINALLY 😭
I CANNOT get over how young she looks. Like obviously we could tell in the animation in the first few seasons that she was young but she looked soooo much younger live action Mandolore compared to animated Mandolore. It hurt me. She’s so young.
AND THE FACT THAT WE GOT TO SEE LIVE ACTION MANDOLORE AND AHSOKA DESTORYING GROWN WARRIORS AT 17 😭😭
I love her
And the young Ahsoka actress (Ariana Greenblatt) was amazing all the love in the world to her ❤️❤️
THE FUCKING
SWITCHES
BETWEEN ANAKIN AND VADER
THAT LOOKED SO COOL
AND TERRIFYING
And Jacen. Being able to hear Ahsoka fighting??? AMAZING
The fact that Jacen saved her? I will never get over that.
BUT AHSOKA BEING UPSET THAT ANAKIN IS COMPARING HER TO HIM BECAUSE LOOK HOW HE TURNED OUT AND THEN HER HAVING THE YELLOW EYES??? AHHH
I can’t be 100% sure but I’m pretty sure the way she defeated Anakin is very similar to how she defeated the inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi. I could be reaching tho idk
And I have to mention it. Ahsoka without the headband in live action was a massive jump scare. I made like an actual noise and recoiled a bit lmao 😭😭
But her being like Jacen is here?? And the way he ran up to her and hugged her and she hugged him back you KNOW she’s auntie Ahsoka. She spent enough time around that kid to be that cool aunt that’s also a Jedi.
Her being ohhhh you heard me fighting huh? I know she already knew he was force sensitive (I mean come on he’s Kanans son) it she was like 😏😌😃
ALSO THAT KANAN FULL NAME DROP. I LOVE IT. THANK YOU
So the New Republic is like “yo you did a bad thing we’re coming to pick you up” and Hera’s like “aw shit really?”
Then AHSOKAS like “hey what if we used the thing that Ezra used to get IN THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE” amd Hera’s like “damn u right” so Ahsoka does her Jedi communication thing
AND JUST GOES IN THE MOUTH OF THE SPACE WHALE??? CAUSE WHY NOT I GUESS???
But yea
I love Carson with my whole heart he is everything to me
He’s like “I’m so ducking done with this but I know it’s the right thing so imma lie even tho I might get fired. Cause this new gov is kiiinda bs but it’s still okay. U go Hera u got this and I’ll always back u up” AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT HIM!! I love Ahsoka but he’s #2 especially in this episode
So he’s like “lol look I wasn’t lying”
And I just have one lil question.
What happened to that whole thing where the purrgil were ship destroyers? Like that’s their whole introduction was in Rebels where everyone’s like “These things are dangerous they just wander and destroy ships don’t go near them that’s all they do”
And then Ezra (I think I don’t exactly remember) is like “actually they’re pretty smart. Also they use hidden hyperspace lanes to travel. So they’re actually pretty cool” and THAT was just a thing in like season 2 or something wayyy before the finale.
But now they’re just weaving their way through the ships??
I guess you could argue that Ahsoka was like “hey could you not” and/or the captains were moving the ships around the purrgil but still they’re known to be super destructive even if the ships try to avoid them?
Idk whatever not that important
I CANNOT PHYSICALLY WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK IM SO HYPED THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE BEST EPISODE SO FAR
I can’t wait to get an update on Sabine thooo
WE STILL HAVE 3 EPISODES LEFT THO THEY BETTER NOT DO THE FINALE EPISODE FLOP THAT KEEPS HAPPENING.
I SWEAR.
Anyways overall amazing episode I love seeing Ahsoka and Anakin banter and also fight and Jacen being force sensitive and Huyang and Carson AND HERA OF COURSE!! LOVE HER
Can’t wait for next week aaaaaaa

Mandalorian season 3 rewatch
Chapter 17 - The Apostate
Is that a baby helmet
The kid looks like a young Kylo Ren and idk I find that funny
Purrgil!!
Vane fucked around and found out
Sure would have loved to see Nevarro grow independent
Grogu getting yeeted
He wouldn't fucking say that - me @ Din this whole season
Housemate losing their mind at the Anzellan scene
Bo on her depression throne
Chapter 18 - The Mines of Mandalore
Grogu and Peli's relationship is so special
'Our planet!!!'
Din is a lot cuntier this season love it
Bo literally has a blanket on her throne girl are you goOD
She uses the blade like it's nothing
Chapter 19 - The Convert
Oh I fucking hate this one
I love seeing Coruscant but I fucking hate this episode
Is Benduday the middle of the week?
I googled it. It's not.
It's the way that these two continued to work for the Empire past the end if the war but just get a slap on the wrist
Why is Kane allowed in any sort of government role??
Why would Bo want to join the descendants of the terrorists who killed (with her help) her sister???
Chapter 20 - The Foundling
This episode is much cuter
Housemate is losing their mind over the dart scene
The burning temple still breaks my heart
The way Paz yanks his boy over
This episode is good
Chapter 21 - The Pirate
Zeb!!! He still looks so fucking good
Carson is 100% right to be Kane of her like??? She was a high-ranking Imperial
Paz has some shit to say go off king
I hate how they keep recycling Bo's arcs
Chapter 22 - Guns for Hire
This episode is fun but kinda frustrating lol
Like Lizzo and Jack Black are so fun
Grogu is absolutely vibing
Din kicking the droid is so funny but also so rude
Like Din is just being so freaking gross in this episode droids very clearly have feelings
Sir Grogu
Chapter 23 - The Spies
Brendol Hux you fucking gaslighting gatekeeping girlboss I'm so happy to see you
Also Pallaeon slay king
Dude Brian mimics Domhall so well it makes me giggle
I forgot about the IG-12 plot housemate loves it
Ugh that's right we completely undermine Bo's Rebels arc
Paz saves the babby
Paazzz noooo
And none of them are actually spies lmao
Chapter 24 - The Return
Grogu saves his papa
The hallway scene is so good though
Useless Gideon clones are useless
I hate the darksaber (in live action)
It's a sweet ending anyway but I'm glad to be done with this series for now

19, 20 and 34? 🌼 if you're still doing the ask game
Hi!! Thank you so much for the ask! And I’m sorry it took me such a long time to get to it! Things got a little crazy.
19. Which batcher is the first to fall asleep at a sleepover?
I think Crosshair. Maybe. Mostly because he’s the one napping in some deleted scenes from the bad batch arc in clone wars, but also because he comes across as nothing less than exhausted at all times. He falls asleep first and then Wrecker wraps him in a blanket like a burrito for fun (and to make sure he stays asleep for a while. He needs the rest.)
20. Which batcher has the weirdest taste in music?
That…depends on how you define weird. I think Tech and Echo have pretty broad tastes in music, but they both take forever to make it through a full album—they tend to get stuck on one song and then listen to it hundreds of times before moving on. I’ve got a bit of a headcanon that Tech’s interest in sounds and recording extends to creating/mixing music (all either electronica or digital instrumental), sometimes out of his recordings, and I honestly love @eriexplosion’s idea that Echo just plugs in to listen to music now. Hunter I headcanon as listening to a lot of Space Johnny Cash (Janni Ka’ash?), and I’m still trying to workout what my headcanon for Crosshair is. Wrecker miiiiight have the weirdest taste in music, though, only because he listens to everything. And I mean everything. You never know what you’re going to get when you hand him the aux cord. Cartoon theme songs. Orchestral metal. Space waffle jingles. Bubble gum pop. Space Gregorian chants. Purrgil song. Everything.
34. What are you using to beat up Nolan?
First instinct says that Crosshair had it right with the gun. Second instinct says that I have terrible aim, but that I am very handy with a picmatic.
