humans are just as much a part of the ecosystem as anything else and our propensity to utilise the environment around us is not at all unnatural, it is precisely how we evolved to interact with it. the earth's ecosystem is a push and a pull, nothing remains the same forever, there is no default state.
the problem is the methods, the problem is the destruction. not that we take up space, not that we change the world around us.

I was going back over the book I had to read on the Seven Years War and it's talking about the disorganization among colonial troops and it's referencing this document from 1759 listing among the problems that soldiers "wear outlandish hats (sometimes two of them at a time)"

a very enthused mom approached me in a panda express earlier today to compliment my AJR shirt,, she was so excited because her daughter had the same one and we found out we're gonna be going to the same show in july!! it was just the sweetest interaction and it absolutely made my day :DD

Started to get emotional while hanging some art in my room and I just wanted to share my thoughts real quick.
I recently bought an art print of my favorite band from a mutual, and when it came in the mail the artist also included a traditional drawing of my favorite member and a handwritten thank you note. The note thanked me for being one of their first supporters in the fandom, and told me to “keep making art forever.” The pencil my mutual used must have been a soft graphite because the words are smudged across the index card, and some grey dust got on my fingers as I hung the traditional drawing.
Usually when I get art from artists, we make the exchange online, and when it arrives there is a handwritten note, or a doodle, or some little thing in the envelope that creates another connection between the two of us. It’s like, “thank you for liking this piece of me, please take another piece of me too”.
I don’t know. Just… the exchanging of art is so so human and good that it leaves me winded sometimes. No AI art or NFT can ever deliver that feeling. The opportunity to know and appreciate the person behind the art just makes the world more beautiful in my opinion.

I love the fact that at 29 I am not done growing.
I love that I can see new things and go "oh", and have someone look at them and go "oh," in a different way, and we can sit here and have a 3 hour discussion about why our ohs are fundamentally different.
I love that I can question my own beliefs and be persuaded to change them???? that's a crazy one.
I love that the human experience isn't about being stagnant.
How boring, to stay put.
