I do sort of wish western anime fans would analyze anime and manga from a framework of japanese historical and cultural context. Specifically a lot of works from the 90s being influenced by the general aimlessness and ennui that a lot of people were experiencing due to the burst in the bubble economy and the national trauma caused by the sarin terrorist attack. I think in interacting with media that’s not local to our sociocultural/sociopolitical sphere it’s easy to forget that it’s influenced and shaped by the same kinds of factors that influence media within our own cultural dome and there ends up being this baseline misalignment of perception between the causative elements of a narrative and viewer interpretation of those elements. It’s a form of death of the author that i think, in some measure, hinders our ability to fully understand/come to terms with creator intent and the full scope of a work’s merits

I have these two oc’s I ADORE and their names our Olesia Lexina and Keres Kohara: both characters in IDT and A1 that are in love in every universe they’re in, and I tend to think of them as dove & crow.

White doves are symbolic for peace, hope, and love. They represent compassion and by nature they are considered to be the universal symbol of peace.

Crows are symbolic for someone’s death. They’re used in stories to represent bad omens and seeing them overhead means that you know something bad can and will happen. They’re often considered the symbol of death.

I’d like to think Olesia and Keres are representative of doves and crows respectively; Olesia being the dove, and Keres being the crow. It’s more so represent their very difference in fates and how they are as people.

They’re opposites, but they’re still able to live in the same environment—unless crows see a dove injured in which they consider prey and they’ll kill them—but that’s collared doves which represent love and affection which can be considered the death of their love as they—

I’m still new to writing these and being public with my work. I just thought I’d share this to fight the thoughts of “never post on here again”

In complete seriousness, they need to make laws about ads that say they can take no more than one, maybe two, clicks/taps to close/skip. No more "wait 10 seconds until you can skip the video, wait 10 seconds until you can skip the fake playable ad, wait 5 seconds until you can close the 'download now' overlay, puts up a half-screen in-app appstore pop-up (which at least you can close immediately)." This should literally be illegal to do.

Edit: this is blowing up so I just wanted to add (haha ad) that this was my "reasonable request" I also think there should be way more and way stricter laws around all advertising in general. I think most advertising as we know it today should be abolished.
