It is the 4th of April, 2019. I know, I know, I’m meant to do a daily vlog for all the 50 days I’m here but... it’s been... wow. Um... so I met Eric, the first day I touched down. The beach is just, about a 10 minute walk down and the sunsets are absolutely gorgeous. But uh... call me a fool and say that I’m living in the clouds but- what are the chances?

He’s funny, he’s such a great person to be around with y’know? Never a moment of like, awkwardness or stress and my God, look at me talking about a boy like that, though I met him 2 days ago.

Um, he’s a freelance model. For those freelance shoots by UNIQLO or Target or something and he complains about the pay sometimes, but he looks good infront of a camera, so he’s... actually the one who won at life, really.

I’m not seeing him soon because he’s got a shoot out of town and he’ll be back next week. But I did get his number and he’s been texting me since.

It was really funny ‘cause he had to wake up early for a shoot today and so his day has just begun but mine’s coming to an end and I just- I’m rambling so much, it’s kinda- it’s kinda sad, isn’t it?

It is 12.40pm... April 21st, 2019. I’m finally back in my apartment after crashing at Eric’s for the last... 10 days? I think it was 10 days. My clothes were running out and I didn’t want to hike up his water bills so I just came back and- y’know did my own laundry.

the pile of tissues by your thighs are carelessly huddled into the bin next to your feet, mentally berating yourself for going through the memory instead of formatting it.

you stand, fingers shutting the screen back onto its body with a soft click. the tv blacks out when you press the red button on its remote.

you’re halfway into your kitchen when there’s a knock at your door, and you immediately gasp, blinking rapidly.

“oh, it’s my fucking projector!”

rushing to the door, you don’t hesitate to get the door open.

and yet, like the heavens were providing you with all the light to stop you from doubting yourself, your lungs empty themselves like vacuums.

your heart stops.

your breathing stops.

Went into the stable - Sent off my letter to 'Mrs. Betsy Harrison Mr. Fisher's, Petergate, York' - Went out at 8 3/4 to James Sykes for a few minutes - at 9 down the o.b. [old bank] to H-x [Halifax] 1/4 hour with Mr. Parker giving him directions for advertising Northgate house with or without the whole or part of six days work of land or ten if wanted (taking the 2 fields Thomas Greenwood has) - to be let from year to year or for a term of years - to be advertised twice in the Leeds Intelligencer and Leeds Mercury - then asked Mr. Parker to consider of the best means to recover the £66 odd from the commissioners of the Brighouse and Denholme Gate road - mentioned seizing the tolls - Mr. P- [Parker] thought the law would not bear us out in this - said it was my fathers proposing - bade him speak to my father on the subject -

Got home in 54 minutes Went down to Jackman preparing to begin wearing at the great bend in the brook at the bottom of the Dolt wood - Came in to breakfast at 10 50/60 - Mr. Carr came a little before 12 - He will take my price £160 per days work for the quantity of land we wanted yesterday - Mr. Samuel Washington to come over and stake out and measure for us as soon as possible - Staid perhaps 10 minutes with Mr. Carr, then talked it over with my aunt - she seems quite satisfied - Including this purchase and the ground at Northgate and the cottage building there, I do not think, if we borrow the money (about £1400) at 5 percent, it make a loss of income of more than £35 a year - came up stairs a little before one - Calculating what money we should probably receive and probably spend before the next rent day - the receipts ought to be about £300, the expenses will be about £2000 - I hope we can do with borrowing £1500 - If this be the case, I think we shall have about £950 a year - then wrote the above of today - all this has done me good -

the copying this letter makes me feel a strange sinking at heart how pathetic brevity affects us I know her all her scrapes with others and have been taught she has no heart nor principle and yet my heart is sad and her lines affect me she is indeed a dangerous woman at this moment I could kneel to her yet have I before said to myself she is a bad one she would only make a fool of me or Pi [Mariana] has often told me so it must be true how could indifference turn to such love so soon I will take no notice of this letter the matter shall rest where it is let us see what she will do she will give me up now and give herself no more trouble about me she cannot in reality care much and by and by I shall forget her and all this will be the best for us both surely there is not much harm done yet yet I catch myself sighing deeply what means it I will quit the subject and my journal for the present -

“So you’re meeting his family?”

“His dad and one of his three older brothers. His mom and the others won’t be in town until tomorrow.” Nick said, sitting next to Kurt at the table.

“Are you nervous?”

Nick shrugged one shoulder, reaching for a piece of toast. “Not really.”

“You’re not nervous to meet his father and three older brothers? Meaning he’s the baby of the family?” Kurt asked.

“No. I don’t really get nervous about the kind of stuff.” Nick said, tucking his legs underneath him and sitting Indian style on the chair.

“You are something else.” Kurt shook his head.

“They’re either going to like me or they won’t. I don’t know why I should stress about it… I hope they like me.”

“Everybody always loves you.”

“Not everyone.” Nick looked down.

Kurt reached over, running his fingers through Nick’s hair. “What are you thinking about?”

Nick swallowed, not looking up. “Nothing.”

“Don’t think about him, Nick.”

“I can’t help it.” Nick swallowed again. “Sometimes I can’t sleep because I think… about him.”

“How… How bad was it?”

“I just… I’ve never felt so… stupid or insecure or worthless in my life.” Nick blinked rapidly. “Or hideous. N-Nothing was good enough, daddy.”

“He was a bad person.” Kurt said, standing and then leaning down, wrapping his arms around Nick. “He was wrong. You’re very smart, you’re beautiful, and you matter. Don’t let anybody say you don’t. You matter so much.”

“Cody makes me feel like I do.” Nick took a deep breath.

“I really like Cody.” Kurt whispered, stroking Nick’s hair. “Blaine does too. We all do. He’s been so good for you throughout all of this.”

“I think he could be it. The one.” Nick pulled back, looking up at Kurt.

“Really?” Kurt smiled.

“Yeah.” Nick smiled. “Even if that sounds crazy.”

“It doesn’t sound crazy. He brought you back. It’s like before you left most days.”

“Yeah…”

“You have to understand that… that boy wasn’t… Nick, you were abused. You were abused and under stress and… you lost yourself.”

Nick reached up, wiping his eyes that were suddenly teary.

“It’s going to be hard to get over that. Soon it will be easier. It’s only been a little over a year since you got home from recovery.”

Nick nodded, standing as the doorbell rang.

“I love you, baby.” Kurt hugged him tightly.

“I love you too. I might be home before you go to bed. I’m not sure.” Nick sniffed, hugging Kurt back.

“They’re going to love you.” Kurt murmured in his ear before kissing the top of his head.

“Thanks. I’ll see you later.” Nick wiped his eyes and went to open the door.

“What’s wrong?” Cody instantly asked.

“I’m fine.” Nick smiled, kissing his cheek.

“No, really. What happened?”

“I was thinking about Andrew and stuff.”

Cody frowned and pulled Nick into a hug.

“I keep having dreams.”

“Sleep over tonight.” Cody whispered.

“Your family…”

“They’re staying in a hotel.” Cody pulled back, looking him in the eye. “Stay over.”

Nick pulled Cody closer, burying his face in his chest. “Okay.”

“Did you tell your dad you were staying over?”

“Yeah. Well, Daddy. He thought it was a good idea… he just said to make sure I eat all of my meals and snacks until I get home.”

“Good.” Cody plopped on his couch next to Nick. “Do you want a snack?”

“Maybe in a bit. I’m still full from dinner.” Nick leaned over, head on Cody’s shoulder.

“You’re so quiet… Are you sure you’re okay? Are you comfortable staying here? I thought it might help, but you can say no. I’ll take you home. Or I can stay with you?”

“No, no, no. It’s fine.” Nick reassured him. “It’s not that… I just feel… sad. I would be starting to move back to UCLA for the spring semester of my second year right now.”

“I’m sorry.” Cody reached up, running a hand down his arm.

“I don’t know if I’m ready to go to NYU next year. I just… Think I aimed too high. I still get really stressed out over things that I shouldn’t get so worried about.”

“You don’t need stress. Wait another semester and see.” Cody said instantly. “I don’t want you to get sick.”

“I’m having trouble gaining more weight.”

Cody frowned.

“I’m trying to get back to 160 but it feels impossible.”

“Are you at a healthy weight?”

“By BMI is a lot better but I went from 160 to less than 120… I feel like I need to get back up to 160.”

“I think the important thing is being healthier. You’re not working out as much and doing soccer.”

“So it should be easier for me to gain weight.”

“I don’t know. Maybe a big chunk of it was muscle?”

“Maybe. I guess I could call my godfather and ask him later… but I feel like he’ll tell dad.” Nick rolled his eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.

“You’re really stressed, aren’t you?”

“Sorry. I’m done.” Nick clapped his hands together and smiled brightly. “What are we going to do, Parker?”

“What do you want to do?”

“I want to see some drawings.”

“Okay. Well, I have a surprise for you.” Cody stood. “I’ll be right back.”

Nick stood, going into the kitchen and grabbing a bottle of water while he waited. Of course Cody would never drink water, but he’d taken to buying them for Nick whenever he was over—and he tended to be over every hour of the day that Cody wasn’t interning or in class.

By the time he made it back into the living room, Cody was sitting on the couch with a black notebook in his hands. He looked up, seeming anxious.

“’Sup, dude?” Nick grinned, tightening the top on the bottle and plopping on the couch.

Cody rolled his eyes. “This is a cheap couch. If you hurt yourself, I’ll feel horrible. I wish you wouldn’t do that.”

“I think you’re saying I have a big butt.” Nick laughed as he sat the bottle of water on Cody’s coffee table coaster. “Plus, you do it all of the time.”

“if I hurt myself on it, it’s my fault. I bought the thing… and also, shut up. You don’t have a big butt.”

“I thoroughly enjoy the fact that you talk back to me now.” Nick grinned.

“It’s more interesting than me just blushing at everything.” Cody laughed.

“What’s my surprise?” Nick asked curiously, tilting his head.

“It might be lame, but don’t laugh. It will hurt my feelings.” Cody said very seriously, handing him the book. “I kind of made… made you a sketchbook.”

Nick opened it to the first page, looking like a little kid on Christmas.

“It’s some sketches and paintings and notes and doodles. It’s kind of—well, very lame.”

“When did you start this?” Nick asked, hands tracing the drawing on the first page.

“I started the… well, the first day we had the icees in the park. I didn’t know what it would end up being…” Cody admitted sheepishly.

Nick turned a few pages, turning the sketchbook to the side to read a note that was scribbled on it.

I’m in class and I’m thinking about you. I think about you a lot. I want to ask you to do something but I’m afraid you’ll say no.

Nick looked up and smiled. “You would get so flustered whenever I’d come in for my appointments. I know you weren’t doing the signing in, but I could see you back there sorting stuff… obviously, because I always waved.”

“Leave me alone.” Cody laughed. “I’m shy around people I don’t know.”

“I thought you were hot.”

“You’ve said so a few times.” Cody laughed again and took the sketchbook. “You can’t have it yet.”

“Why?” Nick asked, looking highly affronted.

“Because only half of the pages are filled.” Cody gave him a small smile.

“Well can I look at what is filled?”

“If you don’t read the notes with me right here.”

“Oh, I’m reading them.” Nick carefully took the book back, flipping through the pages and giggling every once in a while at a picture or a note.

“Are you going to look at all of them?”

“Shh.” Nick said, not even looking up.

Cody reached up, running his fingers through Nick’s hair and watching him. “I think I’m in love with you.”

Nick looked up quickly, snapping the book shut. “What?”

“I am in love with you.”

“R-Really?”

“I’ve been trying to move slow because I know you don’t need extra stress and that can be stressful, but I can’t hold it in anymore. Nick, I’m in love with you. I don’t remember a time being with you that I haven’t been in love with you. You are all I think about when I wake up and when I go to bed. I want to be around you all the time.”

“Wow.” Nick said, hazel eyes wide.

“You don’t have to say it back.” Cody said quickly. “But I just wanted you to know how I feel about you. I think you’re perfect and I love you.”

“I love you too.” Nick looked into his eyes.

Cody licked his lips nervously and then giggled a bit.

“Stop being so adorable!” Nick laughed, hugging him. “I love you so much. I wish I could spend every minute with you.”

“I’ve almost said it every time I’ve seen you for the last four months.” Cody admitted when Nick pulled away and sat next to him.

Nick leaned over, kissing him. “Then it sounds like you’ve got four months of making up for that, Cody Parker.”

“Are you going to tell your parents? This isn’t going to set you back or anything, right? Or stress you out?” Cody asked nervously.

“Yes, no, and no.” Nick said, looking him in the eyes.

“And you’ll tell me if it ever starts to?”

“Yes.” Nick smiled. “I’ve wanted to tell you since the day I met met you. Not the day you assaulted me because that was rude.”

“Oh God, please stop bringing that up. I still get anxious when I think about it.” Cody covered his face. “Ugh.”

“I wouldn’t have wanted to meet you any other way.” Nick said, very seriously “I love you.”

COMING HOME - BUCKY BARNES

(A/N): It’s almost Christmas time and thus I’m giving you a short one-shot with Bucky with a little Christmas theme in it. I wrote this while I was working on the thesis. Now, I’m enjoying playing Sims 4 and preparing for tomorrow. :) Merry Christmas everybody! <3 I love you!

Summary: The perfect Christmas gift came to Y/N and her two kids like a gift from heaven.

COMING HOME – BUCKY BARNES

“Momma?” a tiny voice came behind her back as hands started to pull on her jeans. When she looked down, her five-year-old daughter was looking at her with big blue eyes just like he had. “When is daddy coming home?” A younger boy was standing next to the girl, also waiting for an answer. He was almost four years old. Both children looked more like their daddy, except the girl’s hair and the nose the same as her mother’s.

Y/N kneeled down to them, hugging each of them with one arm, pulling them closer to her. She kissed the boy’s head and smile. “I have no idea,” she said with a low, sad voice and kissed the daughter’s head too. “I hope soon. I know, I say it every time you ask.”

Every time, for almost a year the same answer came out of her mouth. Their father and beloved husband was supposed to be gone for a month. Tony said it was a simple mission in Paris and Berlin, and that Steve and Bucky were supposed to be back in February. Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong and the two Avengers were now on the run from Hydra, hiding god-knows-where. The whole Avengers team was trying to find them, bring the two men back to their families and friends. It’d been for over eleven months and they still weren’t home.

“Do you think daddy went to heaven?” the girl asked, making the mother choke on her own saliva.

“No, no of course not,” she shook her head disapprovingly. “Daddy will come, I believe it,” she said calmly. “He and Uncle Steve are working and they are both fine.”

“B-but,” the boy mumbled, “it’s Christmas and he should be with us,” he said slowly, occasionally missing some consonants. “I want Santa to bring back our daddy,” he almost started to cry.

The children missed him dearly. Their strong daddy was a superhero for them; even little did they know he actually was a superhero as was Uncle Steve, Aunt Natasha and the rest of the people they knew. Y/N used to be one of the team too, but after the arrival of the first child, she partly retired. Christmas was the time of year when the whole family should be together. There was no way Bucky could be back in five days.

“You know what,” Y/N positively smiled at her children. “Tomorrow, we will take Aunt Wanda and Natasha out and the five of us will get a tree, decorate the whole house while waiting for daddy. Do we have a deal?”

Sadness and tears were changed for happiness and cheering. Both children were excited about the upcoming plan. They didn’t have the time to decorate the whole house and now it was the perfect opportunity. It was better to laugh and hope for the best than cry in the corner of a room, believing the worst happened.

“Go brush your teeth and it’s time for bed. I will check on you in fifteen minutes. If you are not ready, no story for you two. Dorothy, help your little brother, alright? And you, Grant, do not resist.” After one last kiss on the children’s cheeks, they ran upstairs to their shared bedroom and bathroom.

There was no time for silent tears. She knew they will come once the children are asleep and she’s back in her (now it’s only hers) bedroom. Quickly washing the dishes after dinner, she went up to change into a comfortable pyjama, the one she knew Bucky would appreciate – the red Henley. Once ready, Y/N went to help the little ones, making sure they were clean and ready for a bedtime story.

Bucky usually made up stories and he was very good at it. Both Dorothy and Grant loved his imagination and humour. Unfortunately, Y/N had to use the old method – reading a book of their choice. One night it was Cinderella, the next night it was Cars. For the last eleven months, they all knew the stories which were in the fairy-tale books.

“Momma?” the boy mumbled tiredly, trying to now wake up his older sister who was already asleep.

“Yes, baby?”

“Will we buy a big red star just like Daddy has on his arm?” he opened his big blue eyes.

It was a sensitive thing to do. However, Bucky was not here and the kids loved the star so much. “Of course, baby. We can do whatever you wish. Now, it’s time to sleep. Think about something nice and maybe it will come true,” she kissed his forehead and turned off the little lamp he had on a night table.

The children were asleep and it was time to let the tears go. She was strong in front of the kids and even the team, but once she was alone, the walls were broken and the emotions hit her like a train. Y/N hid under the covers in the bedroom, silently crying. She missed her husband, the love of her life. What could have gone wrong? Where were the two soldiers? The thought of Hydra capturing them made her unpleasantly shiver.

It all brought her to deep sleep – so deep, both Dorothy and Grant had a problem to wake her up in the morning. “Momma? Momma, come quick!” Grant was nudging her shoulder. “Come look what happened at night!”

Grant’s words didn’t make any sense at the beginning. Her brain was too tired and too foggy to think clearly and process the words. Once she managed to put one and one together, she quickly got off the bed, took the gun she had hidden in a night table and run downstairs to protect the only two things that kept her alive. Ready to kill anything and anyone, Y/N came to the living room where Dorothy and Grant were standing.

Their eyes were wide open, mouth almost dropped on the floor while they were staring at the beauty that was in the room. There was a massive green Christmas tree, decorated with red, white and green balls and decorations with small lights around it. The fireplace too was covered in fake snow, red and green decorations and there were four stockings – each representing one member of the family. It all looked beautiful. Unfortunately, only two things were missing – presents under the tree and Bucky.

“Did you make this, mommy?” Dorothy asked, still standing in one place and not moving.

“I-I,” she shook her head, still not believing what was standing in front of her.

A tinkling sound came from the kitchen which made them startle. It was that moment when the children noticed the gun in Y/N’s hand. Before she could tell them to stay behind, the two followed the sound. When they reached the door, they gasped.

“Merry Christmas.”

Bucky was sitting behind a table, Uncle Steve by his side. There were six cups of hot cocoa, two of them belonging to the soldiers who were both healthy and without any scratches. He was smiling brightly at the two little creatures. When Y/N came to the kitchen, the kids screamed.

“Daddy!” and ran forward to his father, jumping at his sitting form. Bucky hugged them lovingly, kissing their foreheads and cheeks.

“I missed you so much,” he mumbled, tears coming to his eyes as he was trying to get closer to them. They were cheering, screaming happily and kissing Bucky’s face while hugging him tightly. “My beautiful babies,” he continued.

Y/N was standing at the door speechless. She locked the gun and put it in the nearest highest place where the kids wouldn’t reach it. Subsequently, she hid her face in the palm of her hands and sank down on the floor, crying. Was it real? Was Bucky actually sitting in the kitchen or was it just a dream?

Bucky’s eyes searched for Y/N. Unfortunately, she wasn’t there anymore. “Dot, Grant, why don’t you give a hug to Uncle Steve while I talk to mommy?” she smiled at them, giving them one more kiss each. Like they forgot Uncle Steve was there. Immediately, both children were on him, laughing.

The brunet went to the living room where his wife was last seen. He found her on the floor, crying. Instantly, he kneeled in front of her, gently caressing her arms. A loving smile went up on his face when he noticed what she was wearing. “Doll,” he barely whispered and in that moment, Y/N was on him, wrapped like a koala. The sobs were now louder and her hands roamed over his body, making sure he was there. “My beautiful wife,” his voice trembled as he too started to cry. “I missed you so much.”

She looked at him with puffy, red eyes. His hair was longer but all in all, he was alright, with no scratches. “You are back,” she mumbled, trying to smile.

“Yes, baby, I’m back and I’m never leaving you and the children again. Oh, I missed you,” he repeated.

“W-What are you saying?” she didn’t understand the part with not leaving again.

He kissed her lips passionately before looking up into her eyes, smiling. “I’ll be working in the compound as a trainer. I will be training agents and new recruits. No more missions. Our children need us, both of us. They cannot lose their parents.”

A split second later, she was again hugging him tightly. “Oh, Bucky, I love you so much.”

“Yes, doll, I love you too.”
