I wanna talk about Ryuusui cause I've been thinking about him. He's kind of an invert of (or somewhat adjacent to) the trope of living up to expectations. You become the monster because that's how people see you anyway...
He's greedy he's selfish he's self centred he's a bit of a brat and whatever other thing you can think to call a hedonist and privileged rich kid. These generally aren't seen as positive things to be, but Ryuusui takes these in stride and is proud to be all of them!
He's the greediest because he wants it all, so he can share it all. You'll have to pay for it, of course - but the option to buy it will be there. If HE'S having a good time, that means EVERYONE is capable of having a good time.
It's a funny way to turn such a negative connotation on its head.
No one will in the village will worry about starvation ever again! Why? Because I'm greedy enough to want more delicious food!
I just find it amusing and quite endearing that a character that could've so easily been annoying and grating based on the cores of his personality type, is instead a refreshing remix of those cores.
He's a rich kid, everyone was going to look at him and call him spoilt and greedy anyway. Why not take it in stride and use the power that comes with money to be greedy in the best possible way?
This also ties into what I like about Francois so much - their understanding of Ryuusui complements his more outlandish behaviour by recontextualising it.
Mild spoilers for the manga, but further on Francois acts as a translator quite often to ensure that people near them won't suffer because of a language barrier. They're able to translate and make sure concepts are understood so everyone is on the same page
Francois is incredibly perceptive (almost supernaturally so!) They are not only able to anticipate, but problem solve and create solutions based on those observations.
What we've already started to see in the anime with Francois in this one episode is how they're able to recontextualise Ryuusui! They understand that he's greedy to such a point of sincerity, and that's what keeps him moving forward.
And as it's been said, greed isn't necessarily a bad thing in this stone world. It's helping to motivate quick advancements that are going to be beneficial to everyone ;)
He's been super fun to read about and I hope he becomes even more fun as we get to see him animated. There's so many great moments coming up that will be really exciting >:)

Sometimes when I be bored I think about Finnicks reaction to finding out his sweet girl is being forced into prostitution. Boy would be broken
no this is so real bc I also imagine the most angsty situations whenever I'm slightly bored which is why I write what I do lmao
tw talks about trafficking
but like imagine like you don't want to tell finnick about because he's already struggling and you want to comfort him without him worrying about you. so you bear the weight of it all alone until you can't anymore. you're able to say trips to the Capitol alone are for interviews with ceaser or to entertain the Captiol with whatever talent you've chosen, which is true except you're also being forced to entertain in other ways. and marks or bruises can only be explained as a fall or brushed off so many times before they become suspicious. and finnick notices that sometimes you just don't feel there anymore, like you've left your body, but the moment he brings it to you snap back into being comforting, happy, and supportive. finnick probably knows deep down before he actually comes to terms with it and when he does he's so broken up about it. why you? why didn't you want to tell him? how did he not notice ever sooner? what can he do for you?
and one night you're just laying in bed, he's been staring at the page of a book, but not focused on it. he's too busy fully realizing the truth and there you are laying down, staring at the ceiling, completely gone.
"Snow's selling you isn't he?" Finnick would ask it in the quietest tone and he's trying not to cry because you're his sweet girl, so loveable and soft, and now the Capitol is using you, breaking you down.
And he knows it's true when you just stare back at him, eyes so sad and a little shocked he figured it out. then you're both just staring at each other untill you're both bawling. and finnick is holding you like he's terrified to let go.
"why didn't you tell me?" he's mumbling out between choked sobs
"you just already have so much, I didn't want to add to your plate" and you're just so worried about him and he hates it and loves it
"I'm supposed to help you too, not just you with me. do you understand?" and you're nodding, saying you're sorry, and he's telling you it's okay
AND ON THE FLIP SIDE
finnick's girl, his sweet, gorgeous love, who recently won her games coming to finnick and telling him snow is planning on selling her
like you're all solemn and nervous, playing with your fingers and trying not to cry. finnick is so confused about the silence and what's going on so he's racking his mind to see if he did something.
and eventually with a shaky voice and tears on the brim of your eyelids you're like, "snow's going to sell me" and finnick's world comes crashing down
he's supposed to keep you safe which he already nearly failed at when you were reaped and almost died in the arena. "no, I'll talk to snow, I'll just take more, I can do it, I can handle it. not you, sweet girl, they can't have you." and he's just a wreck of tears trying to scramble for the next move in the chess game of the Captiol
"finnick, you're not going to do that." and your voice is still so soft, hands on his arm . "you can't do more, I can, and I'm popular right now"
and finnick's trying to insist, but you're hushing him as you cry until you start to really sob and crumble in his grasp so he's back in alert mode. stroking you hair, telling you he's got you, that things will turn out okay

Sunday is usually busy, so when on this specific day, when you insist on meeting up with him in the middle of his schedule, he's a bit irked.
He imagines its most likely something important, or you needed something that only he could provide (which could only be done in private, behind doors).
So he's very sure to clear out people from the vicinity of his office, telling them he'll be alright and hastily shoo-ing them away in the most professional manner.
And then.. you show up, with a cheeky grin and a heart-shaped box. Curious.
And you set down the chocolate on his desk, almost humorously contrasting to his very well kept desk. You explain Valentine's to him and he understands, mainly because it's a bit of his duty to keep tabs on festivities, even of other planets.
And he offers you to sit down, asks you about it in more detail, while curiously scanning the box. He doesn't realise you made it yourself until you drop it in the middle of conversation, and he stays still for a moment, deep in thought, before a loving smile breaks out on his face.
Sunday appreciates any effort from you so much. He knows he's not exactly easy to love, especially because you have to do it from a distance most of the time. So he appreciates it so so much. He's already thinking of all the ways he wants to pay you back – not because he sees it as a transaction, but rather he wants to let you know he sees your efforts and wants to return them, too.
Lovingly guides you to sit you down beside him, and feeds you a piece of chocolate first, and then eats it himself. Very neatly picks it up, careful to make sure it doesnt melt on his gloves, and it doesn't get on your face. Wipes off any excess bits on your face and compliments the flavors, tells you about how popular they are, flavors that are particularly favored from certain worlds, and all sorts of things. He wraps up the box neatly and insists you wait for a bit outside his office, tenderly kissing your forehead.
After a few moments of quiet shuffling, his door clicks open, as he gives you a very beautifully sealed letter. He says it was supposed to be for another occasion, and he had to rush the writing a bit at the end, but most of it was completed, and stamped perfectly. The letter is about 3 pages long, and full of well-wishes, and feelings Sunday probably wouldn't be able to tell you directly face to face. He kisses your hand and tells you he'll make some time for you another day, and make up for the time he couldn't spend today.
He listens to your quiet footsteps shuffle down the hallway, further away from his office, and once he's sure you're gone, he sighs, sitting down in his office chair. He sits deeply in thought, and anyone walking in would have thought he was in deep trouble, trying to find a solution for an extremely multifaceted and complex issue.. when really, he's thinking about just how dangerously he's wrapped around your finger. Perhaps he prefers it that way?

not sure if you already written some yandere stuff but if not, how do you think a yandere wonbin will behave?
Maybe mafia!riize (2) counts, but in that concept Anton and Eunseok seem to fit more than Wonbin, and I also have a stalker!eunseok that might interest you.
Yandere!Wonbin sounds really interesting, I'm not that familiar with the genre (though I've watched a couple of animes related to it), but if I'm not thinking in a mafia au like the one I mentioned before, I kind of see him as the classmate that silently follows you around and that already has a reputation with being "odd", or the popular boy that had everything he wanted (Again, sorry if what I imagined It's not correct, I just did a quick research).
TW and tags: dark!riize, yandere!Wonbin, stalking, manipulation, mentions of sexual assault.
There's just something about his aura and physical language that creeps people away, and since he's always by your side, talking to you softly and always looking at you with bright eyes, you never understand when the others tell you to be careful with him, that there's something that really alarms them whenever he's with you and that you should never fully trust him.
Wonbin wouldn't say anything when you tell him what others say about him and you would laugh it off, and since he sees you don't believe them, he wouldn't mind, just smiling at you and shrugging his shoulders.
However, inside he's already thinking how much people don't understand the love he has for you.
He's not the violent kind, he's more, like he likes to call himself, a little fan, watching you from afar and enjoying every little interaction to the fullest.
At first having him around was comfy, he only treated you as a friend and offered his help whenever you didn't understand something in class, but then things started to get weirder, and the warm sensation you had before when he was around, would burn you now.
You felt observed most of the time, it didn't matter if you tried to only study in the library for an hour or if you were forming in the queue for your coffee, you would feel your neck hot with the sensation of someone's eyes over your every move.
It would only be a matter of time until you notice that you have the same sensation when you're next to him, and soon, you wouldn't want him around you anymore.
You would try to run away from him with the help of your friends, saying hi but going to other places whenever he arrived, and not answering his texts as often as before with the excuse of being busy.
He would be disappointed, thinking they are the cause of you not loving him like you used to do (not that you ever loved him, you just saw him like a friend until you started to notice that he didn't see you just like that).
Still, he wouldn't physically hurt them, he knows that would be too obvious and would scare you away, so the best option, for him, is to shoo them, that way you would only have him by your side, and you wouldn't have an option but to love him like you did before.
He doesn't know how to charm everyone, but he knows how to look innocent, and that's more than enough to leave him out of the problem that he would create.
Spreading rumors about you was more than easy, taking into account how much he has observed you before, it wouldn't be hard for him to find a way to make you look bad. If you were having more meetings than usual with your professor to ask for advice, he'd plant the idea of you opening your legs for better grades. If you were talking a bit too much with your best friend's boyfriend, a picture of you just talking in the street would lurk around school with a message saying you had an affair with him.
Anything for him, would be a gun, ready to kill the good girl reputation you had.
People love gossip, people love pointing at someone and talking behind their backs, so he only had to start it, and everyone would intensify it, adding lies and breaking you with their disgusted eyes and whispers, not even your supposed friends daring to look at you or being seen with you.
But not Wonbin, never him, the boy who loved you the most in the whole place would never say something like that, and giving you his shoulder, you could cry as much as you wanted, "it's okay, I know nothing of that it's true, I'll always be here for you", convincing you that, if there was someone in this world in your side, it was him.
At least, that's one kind of yandere!Wonbin, the soft loving one, the other kind, would simply take everything with his own hands.
The other Wonbin, the confident, popular and loved one, would be hard to attract.
You don't even understand why it was you, he could've chosen anyone else who would gladly give him the attention he wanted, and you, on the other hand, wouldn't even try to be in his presence, not daring to interrupt the pretty view of him with his group of friends.
He had everything he could ever need, you don't know if he's rich, there are rumors, and he definitely wasn't the smartest person academically, but he was gorgeous, and you knew that was enough to get far in life.
That's why, you didn't understand what was his need to be behind you all the time.
He would follow you to the library, trying to make conversations with you, "could you help me with this?", he'd say showing you a question. You didn't understand why he asked you, but you didn't have any reason to not help him, so you just did.
He would grip onto that, bringing you more and more questions to learn from you.
Then, he'd offer to take you home with the excuse of paying the favor, and no, he won't take a no for an answer.
He never said it, but you felt there was something happening behind the scenes, his friends would look at you when you walked out of class, or when you sat to eat on your own in the cafeteria and he sat in front of you to keep you company.
He doesn't know how to maintain conversations, even less how to joke, so instead of feeling relieved to have someone around, you would feel extremely uncomfortable, starting to run away when you saw him or his friends near.
And that, of course, would bother him.
Who were you to escape from him? If he showed you an attention he didn't give to anyone else, you should be grateful and receive him with much pleasure, everyone saw you weren't on his level, and you already gained so much from being seen with him, people recognized you, knew your name, and of course it was because you were Wonbin's girl, but being his girl was much better than being nobody, right?
"Don't make me mad" he said when you tried to leave home without him, and you tried to not think much from it, but his voice was so full of decision and darkness that you stopped in your place and waited for him to be on your side, "that's what I thought" he said when you let him take your hand.
You didn't know why you accepted him, he never asked you to be anything, not even his friend, so you had the freedom to leave and not think about him, but you knew, deep inside, that he didn't make jokes, and that if you made him mad, he'd do something about it.
Just like when you tried to refuse his hand prying down your skirt, making a pretty collar with his hand in your throat, he'd take anything from you if he wanted, it didn't matter how he did it, so instead of saying no, you preferred to just not talk and count the days until you could run away from him.

Since it's Autism Awareness Month, here's
Why the puzzle piece is offensive to the Autistic Community

Unfortunately, the most commonly used symbols to represent autism are all puzzle related, like the ones bellow.
These symbols and similar ones are typically used by Autism Organizations that are run by allistic people rather than autistic, Autism Speaks being the best-known example across the internet, but not the only one.
I'm not going to go deep into how bad Autism Speaks is, but just to leave you with the tip of the iceberg, know they used to put out ads that demonized autistic people (and even one in which one of the organization's leaders spoke about wanting to drive herself and her autistic daughter off a bridge).
Autism Speaks, and many others, attempt to "teach" people about autism, without hearing what actually autistic people have to say, and that's their biggest (but not at all only) problem.
Now, stay with me as we dive into history...
The puzzle piece was first used as a symbol for autism in 1963, by UK's National Autism Society, later on being adopted by Autism Speaks, which made it more popular.
Back then, autism awareness campaigns were viewed as being similar to, for example, cancer awareness ones, because autism was seen as an illness, a disease (which it is not).
As I've made clear before, the puzzle piece is heavily associated with organizations that spread misinformation about autism, making it, of course, already a bad symbol to represent us, but there's something I personally feel bothers us a lot more, and that is the symbolism of the puzzle piece.
The puzzle piece represents an idea of "mystery" and — you guessed it — being "puzzled".
And us, autists, don't really appreciate being called confusing.
Not only that, these words were often used to describe autism offensively in the past (and still are). And, on top of that, most times, when you find a puzzle supposed to represent autism, it is incomplete.
Isn't the message clear enough?
We're people, not puzzles that have to be worked out. We're not incomplete and we're not "puzzled".
So
Which symbols can you use for autism awareness?

The infinity rainbow symbol is common for all neurodivergent people, while the golden infinity is specific for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder, in case you didn't know the acronym).
The infinity symbol represents the complexity and vastness of neurodivergence and autism.
Autism is less about "severity" and more about different struggles in different topics and areas (though not a lot of people seem to understand that, unfortunately). After all, autism is a spectrum, not a scale.
And if you're interested in why golden is the color of choice for us, that'd be because the periodic symbol for gold is Au, which I think is very clever, haha.
Some people also like to use red or plain yellow, I don't know a lot about that, but I'd recommend you research it.
And since we're on the topic of color, just a warning: in the Autistic Community we kind of avoid using blue to represent us, especially because it is heavily associated with Autism Speaks' "Light It Up Blue" movement.
Blue is seen as a representation of feelings like sadness, as well as being commonly associated with boys (this is important because women and other AFAB are often misdiagnosed and underdiagnosed because many people still think autism is only found in boys, and because many traits are viewed as "normal behavior" in AFAB people).
This isn't to say you can't use blue in the title of your PowerPoint presentation about ASD, it's just a thing we try to avoid.

I decided to make this post because I've seen many people post about which symbols to use for Autism Awareness Month, but no one explaining why.
Thought this could help some poor lost soul understand it, lol

Sailor Scouts with a crush [Inner Senshi]

I loved the manga and the crystal! Is soooo beautiful!!!
Usagi Tsukino
This girl don't really get that she have a crush, she just know that she likes spending time with you (there are times when she questions her feelings for you, but just brush it off). Her friends had to make her see that she have a crush
Usagi talks a lot about you with her friends, family and Luna!
Minako will tease her a lot about her crush and for not noticing early
Usagi is a crybaby, so she will cling onto you whenever she start crying, however when is something more serious (like when is something about the threat of the enemies) she won't like to you to see her in that state
She is really clingy, trying to be with you whenever she can! Mostly going to the acarde to play videogames together!
Sometimes she ask you to help her study, but both of you always ended up doing other things
She gets distracted easily for been daydreaming about you
When you give her a compliment she get all giggly and blusy, even more if you give her a gift (even if it's something small)
Maybe doesn't seem like that but Usagi is protective over you, she know that the threat of enemies is constant and she wants to be able to protect you and her friends
If she have to protect she will! And will be over you asking you if you're injured or something after (if you ever get injured she will panic at first), may even hug you tightly for how worried she was!
Amy Mizuno
It will take a long time for her to notice or acept her feelings, at first will just brush it off as admiration. Her friends will have to be the ones how make her understand that this is actually love (mostly Mina and Makoto since they get really excited after finding out)
Before meeting Usagi she was seen as cold and distante, so she will try be your friend to make sure you don't see her as such
She talks a lot about you with her friends and mom
Amy gets easily nervous and blushy around you
When you two hang out its mostly with the excuse to help you study or with her friends (she gets nervous when you two are alone!)
If you're interested in medicine and/or want to become a doctor too she'll get excited and will offer you to try it together!
She doesn't exactly know what to do, to be honest this is the first time she falls in love
Whenever you compliment her she become a blushing mess! All flustered stuttering a 'thank you'
If you ever get injured (for whatever reason) she will the first to offer you help to treat your wounds, asking you what happen and even telling you that you worried her and she cares a lot about you
If theres a moment when she have to save you she will, after that she will ask you if you're alright looking for any injuries
Rei Hino
Even if she notice her crush Rei will be in denial for a while. She's not supposed to be in love, she have things to attent! (especially if you're male, Rei don't really trust much in males)
She may come across as rude with her crush, but she's just confused, she don't know what to do
With time Rei make peace with her feelings and even apologize for how she treated you. Then she will start trying to be friends with you (if you already are friends she will just return to her old behavior)
She enjoy your company, most of the time both of you just hang out in quiet places and talk
She invite you over the temple, and you'll have the oportunity to see her skills with the bow.
Rei isn't a shy girl and is pretty popular in her school, so compliments aren't new for her, but the ones you give it to her are special, those make her genuinely happy
She'll introduce you to her friends and Phobos and Deimos, is important for her that you get along with them
Minako will tease the hell of her for her crush, its unlike her so she will take advantage! (maybe even tease you)
Rei is a stoic person in general, but she will warm up with you and you'd see her showing more emotions, and smiling more often
If you find yourself in danger she will go to help you without a doubt (probably was Phobos and Deimos who tell her about this). She cared about you a lot and, after make sure you're not injured (and take care of your injuries in case you have) she will scold you a little for putting yourself in danger and worring her
Makoto Kino
Dont take long for her to notice her crush, Makoto know right this warm feeling in her chest. She isn't exactly shy but she had already been heartbroken ones, so she will be careful whit this for a while
This sweet girl will cook for you every time she gets the oportunity to do so (even try to impress you with her skills)
She's protective over you, she's super strong and can protect you (but never brag about it though)
Makoto can be pretty intimidating and that makes her feel afraid that you may don't like her for that and even fear her
Despiste her looks she's really femenino, so if you ever you comment of it in a good way (like making a compliment) she can feel her heart rasing and the blush growing up in her cheeks
She likes to hang out with you, both of you can talk about everything and anything. Also, she will tell you about her dream of having a flower shop
Makoto isn't exactly shy, but whenever you compliment her or make something sweet for her she get all flustered and blush, shyly thanking you
She don't exactly daydream about it, but She's excited with the idea of having a date with you
If you get worried for her living alone she feel like falling in love with you even more! But will (asegurarte) it's not a problem
Prefer that you be as far away from danger as you can, if she have to save you she wont hesitant telling you to please be more careful (she may feel a little flustered after when when she think about what she did)
Minako Aino
She notice her crush almost inmediatly, and she get super excited!
This girl will brags about you with her friends a lot! (to Artemis too)
Minako is not the shy type, in fact she is really obvious with her crush! Don't even bother to hide it, she don't see why do it
Whenever you give her a compliment she gets really happy and blush, she's not shy so may compliment you in return, and later she will brag about it with her friends!
If you're a fan of Sailor V she will be so proud of herself! She even got super cocky
She will give you cute litte gifts and may even try to cook for you
She spent time with you whenever she can, sometimes even makes excuses just to hang out with you!
She won't ask for help for school, but you offer it she will accept right away (just as an excuse to hang out thought)
She daydream about you two as a couple a lot! (her new favorite hobby). In her eyes you're perfect! You are like her knight in shiny armor!
For sure she will write you love letters
Minako will try to impress you with her gymnastics skills
When she notice that her feelings are stronger than other times is when she take them more seriously.
If she get to save you anytime she'll feel so proud and may show off a little (if the situation is already taked care of or not too dangerous, she'll never put you in danger)

Villainous Headcanon: GoldHeart Only Loves Himself
(Inspired by this Scene of Batman and Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series - Mad Love)

Alternate Headcanon scene from Episode 6
After Flug left the room, Miss Heed realized Flug was not mind controlled and sent her followers to catch Flug.
After Flug and Demencia discussed their plan to take down Miss Heed, her followers managed to find and capture Flug, but fortunately Demencia managed to escape through the vents and was left uncaptured.
Miss Heed tried to blow a kiss and make Flug one of her simps again, but after her rant and accidental confession about using Flug for GoldHeart earlier, the kiss didn't work.
So, she ordered her followers to tie and hang Flug upside down on a pulley over the vat of her formula.
She figured the strengthened exposure from the vat would make the mind controll more effective.
Flug was left alone with Miss Heed after she dismisses her followers.

Flug, still disoriented: Heed...
Miss Heed, smirks: Sorry it had to turn out like this Fluggy. You know for what it's worth, I actually quite like you.
[Flug notices out of the corner of her eye that Demencia has captured the Heed-Cam and was recording the whole thing. He realizes that he can still make the plan work, but he needs to improvise.]
Flug: Why are you doing all this?
[Despite being a Hero and dropping out of Black Hat Academy, Flug knows that Cecilia is still a Villain at heart, and what Villains love to do the most is make the mistake of monologuing about their evil plans to their enemies.]
Miss Heed: Why? Well, I suppose I'll be nice and tell you since you won't remember after I lower you into this vat of formula…

[Flashback to when Miss Heed handed GoldHeart Flug's thesis:
Despite Heed claiming it to be her own formula, GoldHeart instantly recognizes Flug's messy handwriting in the notebook.
Knowing the value of Flug's brilliance and research, GoldHeart, despite thinking Miss Heed's power to evaporate liquids is useless (and making it clear to her), decides to offer Miss Heed a position in his super hero club Golden Rule, in exchange for helping him develop the formula to end Villainy.]
Miss Heed: …That's not…No…No!...You're wrong! GoldHeart is a Hero! He has a good heart! He would never do that!
Flug: He knows what to say to get people do what he wants then discards them once they go against his agenda or if he finds someone better to do the job.
Flug: ...Or even when they're no longer useful to him.
Miss Heed, desperate: He's a good person! He really is! He needs me!!
Flug: He wants your help with some "big plan" using my formula, right?
Flug: Let's say I help you perfect the formula and you hand it over to GoldHeart.

Miss Heed, covers her ears with her hands in frustration: ...Stop it! You're making me confused!!
Flug: What do you think is going to happen to you afterwards, Cecilia?
Miss Heed, enraged: You're...You're the Villain!...YOU'RE THE PROBLEM!!
Miss Heed, goes to the pulley to forcefully drop Flug down to the vat: AND NOW YOU'RE GONNA BE A GOOD LITTLE FOLLOWER AND MAKE EVERYTHING RIGHT!!

Things afterwards happen somewhat similarly to Episode 6, but with some differences:
Miss Heed let's go of the pulley and it turns at high speeds, making Flug go downwards quickly. Just before Flug falls all the way down, Demencia comes in and catches Flug and pushes Miss Heed down the vat, unties Flug, then they escape.
Miss Heed's followers snapped out of their mind control after seeing Miss Heed's deluded confession for GoldHeart on her livestream. And she is captured by them and sent to jail.
The news still indirectly blames Flug for Miss Heed's arrest, twisting the story in the video saying that he was the one in charge of making the evil formula and with Miss Heed co-conspiring with him.
Flug still manages to convince Miss Heed to tell her about GoldHeart’s plan to end Villainy.
GoldHeart gets frustrated at Flug at putting a wrench in his plan and cringes at the damage control he has to do to fix his, P.E.A.C.E. and the Golden Rule's reputation after that video was leaked.

Idk re: your tags I feel like part of the issue with Callum and Rayla getting together not really having a point if she was going to run away was that them getting together happened but wasn’t originally planned.
But it might always have been planned for Rayla to leave (?) so they just let the story run the relationship and then ignored it and still had her leave, I guess?
Seems like a weird plot to me too idk we’ll see how they’ll explain it

I heard about that but I don't buy it. You're telling me a mainstream media writing crew sat in a room early on in the writing process and didn't discuss the possibility of the male and female leads getting together??? My theory is that they were supposed to get together later on, but they noticed how popular they are among the fans so they rushed to write their romance before part 1 ends so that the viewers beg them for more. Idk if you remember the drama, but during s1-3 the creators kept saying how the fans had to spread the word and watch as much as possible so that all 7 seasons would be greenlit... and then it turned out that all 7 seasons already WERE greenlit. I think Rayllum was just as much of a promotional campaign for the show.
And yeah I do believe her leaving was planned from the start, it seems like a Rayla thing to do, so I do not understand why they didn't also pace their relationship to include it. I don't mind her dumping him, but I do mind that they didn't get enough bonding moments before it happened to make me believe Callum would still mourn her leaving years later. Did they think we wouldn't care enough if they were just friends???? Like???????????

I think I understand what you mean about true crime, it's like the industry romanticizes it, right? I also don't like the way it's told/popularized by the media in a way. That whole Dahmer documentary on Netflix and everyone transforming/dressing like him and falling in love with Dahmer was kind of disgusting. But I want to study psychology someday, so it's something that kind of appeals to me.
Yeah, I saw Dexter. I think Dexter and Hannibal are like: 101 Popular Psychopaths You Should Know.
And yeah, I meant like a reader x member story that's not told from the reader's point of view. But I've also never read anything with a third-person narrator. I miss that when I read fics instead of books. I'm sorry, it's just that English isn't my first language.
About uni aus… it's not that I don't like it completely, you know? It's just something that doesn't make me want to read, you know? I find it a bit… silly, BUT I still read it, even if I don't like it that much, I think that even if I don't like it, I can still get something out of the story that I can enjoy or learn from. And sometimes it's something you learn to like over time,

girl, istg, I am the least busy person in the world lmaoooooo I have NO social life in the city I live in so my weekends are just me on my one lol I was supposed to be painting my bathroom as it's been replastered but the plaster hasn't fucking dried yet so I've done nothing. I got out of bed at noon today 😅😅
and yes that Dahmer shit is exactly the thing I'm talking about. it's fucking gross and there's a lot of true crime stuff where victims' families are like... very much still alive (or even victims themselves depending on the crime) and I find it kind of weird and gross that people are so fucking rabid about consuming content and getting excited about like.... the worst experiences of people's lives y'know?
haha I have grown out of hate-reading! now, if I don't like something, I give up, or I skim very quickly to see how it turns out. but I don't want to waste time on things I don't enjoy. life is too short and too difficult and too miserable already y'know? i need to spend time with what I like.

We'll have a preliminary round to see whether characters are prominent, lesser known, or actually obscure members of the Batfam. (There's also an option to vote them out.) So don't worry about whether your character is actually obscure!

heyo!! I'm not sure if you've already answered this because I don't have Tumblr and I keep getting blocked by the log in wall whenever I scroll too far. But why did you delete your old AO3 account and works? Where you getting bullied 😰 I know the jonsa ship and Sansa specifically is well hated...
Hey, anon. I haven't answered that before, so I'll give it a go now. I think it's neat that you're interested.
I haven't had any issues with bullying apart from a few random comments on AO3 that were less about Jonsa and more about my writing choices. Whoops. I tagged that fic as a fix but still let Rickon die? My bad. I didn't realize I was supposed to anticipate the preferences of that one specific reader and not do that. *eye roll*
That's just one example, but despite my snarkiness about it right now that kind of stuff doesn't actually bother me too much. It is what it is.
So anyway. I deleted my old account more because I wasn't satisfied with my work, wasn't finding fulfillment in writing as a hobby anymore, realized I cared more than I wanted to about kudos and comments -- yeah, that kind of stuff.
But mostly I felt a lot of self-inflected pressure to post updates quickly. And so my speed became too much a measure of my sense of self-worth. Lame.
I took a break for a while, but I'm back to writing now with a healthier mindset. (Though, let's be honest, I still want those damn kudos!) If you don't already know, my new AO3 name is GreenHikingBoots. Since I write for both Jonsa and Dramione, I wanted a name that wasn't fandom specific. And I like the color green and I do a lot of hiking IRL. So there you go.
Oh, I should probably clarify that everything I have published under that new name, apart from my current Jonsa WIP called Inevitable, was previously published on my old account (though edits have been made). Most of that is Dramione, though. Also, that isn't to say every old fic has been re-published.
Two of my more popular works -- For Better Dreams (Jonsa) and Between the Lines (Dramione) -- are still in my Google Doc and will hopefully get re-published in the future. I'm working my way through shorter fic ideas first.
For what it's worth, compared to how I used to do it, I now have firmer plot plans and more detailed first drafts before I start publishing. And I give more author's notes warning that updates may take a while. And those factors go a long way in helping me maintain this hobby in an enjoyable way.
Basically, these days, I'm into slow and steady wins the race.
Oh, come to think of it! Here's another thing I should have said sooner: major shout out to the Jonsa fanfic writers who take their sweet time publishing updates and the readers who are understanding of that. I didn't see that as much in the Dramione fandom, but I think seeing it here helped relieve a lot of my anxieties.
I think that's about all I got on the topic. I'm not going to say TL;DR. But a summation? I'll try. Here goes:
Fandom and fanfiction writing is supposed to be fun, not feel like work! I took some time away because I hadn't internalized that. I've since developed some better habits and saw some good examples of people who had internized the message, and that helped. Now I'm back and enjoying writing more than before. Yay!

A rant on the animal crossing community:
It's nothing overall, but during its height of popularity (new horizons) in 2020, it really attracted some nasty people.
But one thing that always bothered me was the bullying villagers based on very real features someone could have. You still see it now, but not as much. Like it's one thing with Beardo's supposed pubic hair, but like hating characters that "look angry" or have unibrows (only ever Hazel even though other villagers like Lyman have them) or having eyes too far apart just always felt gross to me.
Hazel especially made me mad because I have this memory of seeing a comic on Instagram about a girl who had a unibrow and how she used to always hate it. Over time, she learned to love herself and now she's proud of it. So it's small things, but for real. People have angry eyebrows, people look angry naturally, people (specifically women) have unibrows, people have eyes too close or too far. When it gets into very real features, it feels like a harsh reminder of beauty standards. Like okay if you don't like Limberg, someone named after smelly cheese and looks smelly, or if you don't like a villager cause a color pallette (that's mostly me), but still.
I saw an article saying that if it weren't for the unibrow, Hazel would be cute. But the unibrow was ugly and needed to be shaved so she could have "normal eyebrows." I'm pretty sure that article just cashed in on popularity because I think the other villager hate in it was bs too. But it feels like such a reminder of God damn beauty standards.
And also people get WAY TOO MEAN ABOUT IT!!! Not saying that you can't dislike any. I am terrified of Cobb, I hate "bright" colored villagers (sensory issues) like Mira and Caroline, and I bully Flip in a /lh way cause my friend loves him, but like saying no ugly villagers exist and shit is just a reminder that "ugly" people aren't welcome.
Again, most of the fandom is fine. This was just the particularly new fan base that was extra toxic, but also the small small small minority of toxic/rude people. So most of the people are fine. But it just rubs me the wrong way. Saying a villager shouldn't exist, that they're worthless, that no one could like em. It's way too familiar.
Also side rant, but oh my God I hate people wanting mean dialogue back. Like everyone says it and says that if you don't find it funny then you're too soft. Like 😐 sorry I have genuine trauma and Resetti made me cry at the age of 20 because I was already upset about losing my progress. I get some of the funny/ridiculous things and needing varied dialogue, but I am very glad the meanness was toned down. I understand snooty and cranky personalities needing to be mean. I just wish so many people didn't want to bring back actual mean dialogue that was just insulting. And I find most of the people who are really mean towards people disagreeing with wanting mean dialogue instantly goes into "I have trauma and it's fine, it's funny" or "you don't need to be so soft. This was normal back then." Like. Things change. Mean snooties and crankies make sense, but seriously some of that shit they said was bad. Mental runt of the litter? A blight on society? Like yeah funny, but when you're traumatized and have insanely high empathy that makes you wanna cry because your god damn pronouns will feel bad if you don't use he and she pronouns so you only use they/them, it's kinda bothersome.
In the end, the mean villagers and Resetti did make kids cry and the Japanese version was already a more "polite" version anyway. So it doesn't matter. I do agree with varied dialogue, more interesting chats, and stuff like that. But when you're making a game towards children as well as the grown children that still play it, you gotta consider neurodivergent folks that will be playing it too. Like they won't consider us, we tend to be invisible, but just the fact they don't want kids crying over it at least makes me feel seen.
Also I wish they at least gave us updates to better control the sound in game. The waterfalls and the 2 pm music make me genuinely cry and you can't even hear most of the gyroids unless you turn it all the way up. I wish we could have more control. I love the game, but my god can it be overwhelming.
So that's just some stuff I've noticed. Again most people in the community, like any other community, are pretty much chill and it's just a small group of loud folks that are rude/mean/toxic. But it's just stuff I noticed and thought about ranting about.

I go back and reread your posts occasionally because I really resonate with your posts about Epic Romance that I think transcends some of the tropes fandoms evolve around (e.g. enemies to lovers) which I don't always find myself connnecting with. I am just a bit curious about something:
What do you think of the pairing Solas/Lavellan from Dragon Age? (I searched your blog for it just in case you already spoke on the subject but sorry if I missed it).
I don't know if video games are your thing, or if a Player Character changes the dynamic you're into, but I was curious because it's a mythic romance of quite epic proportions. I know you've mentioned you sort of don't like a blog that is into adjacent ships to it (I think when you discussed Raistlin/Crysania) or maybe I'm just reading into that hahahah, so I understand if that influences if you do/don't. What I like about it beyond the character of Solas is that it's a tragedy with potential for hope ('Our love will endure'), and I think that's something your speed?
If you are not interested in the pairing (though I'd be interested to hear why, especially because Solas hits a few similar archetypal boxes and the reason why you don't like the pairing is as interesting to me as why you would!) and want another question to respond to instead:

Thank you for the ask! Yeah, same. EtL is only rarely written with the dynamic that I like, so most of the popular ships are not for me. I think I've disappointed a lot of fellow travellers by having zero interest in rivalry or frenemies style EtL ships.
I do play games, but I've only played like five minutes of one of the Dragon Age games. I've seen a lot of people talking about Solas and know he's the wank magnet tragic murder boy fav of the franchise, but I haven't gathered much of anything about the ship dynamic. I don't know enough about his arc/characterisation to say whether I'd be interested. But for sure, if there's an element of enduring hope, tragic romance can be my thing (so I read 5437540 fix-it fics).
I'm sorry I really don't have any thoughts to offer either way! :( If I get around to playing the game, I will post any ramblings I have about it!
I'm developing a fic for my long latent and repressed Cosmo/Kathy shipping urges, but that's like a radical departure for me on several levels lmao. Yes, I confess, sometimes I'll ship a couple of wholesome cinnamon rolls who have zero conflict because the banter is spicy and the vibes are adorable.
It's so funny how people are always trying to compare B&tB ships (like Reylo, E/C, etc. with grotesques or tragic heroes) to the Bad Boy/Ingenue/Nice Guy triangle and dismiss redemption romance fans as silly girls who haven't learned their lesson about being attracted to Bad Boys, because any example you can name of a triangle where the love interest is actually a Bad Boy, I ship her with the faithful friend (not a Nice Guy, but a legitimately nice guy). Like, I watched Pretty In Pink a couple years ago and man it was obvious she was not supposed to end up with Blane. I felt so vindicated when I read about the intended ending lol.
But anyway, I've been crying about whouffaldi again lately, re-reading some E/C fics, thinking of fleshing out/finishing some very self-indulgent E/C one-shots I made notes for, still wanting to write that Oh Hyun Jae/Soo Young fic that I accidentally wrote a kind of weird 'humour' prequel too D:, and as always trying to finish my Lokane fic finally. It has 2-3 more chapters, tops, and it's killing me I can't just get it done. It already has its main emotional climax, so I'm not leaving people hanging too bad, but maaaaannn!!! I swore a blood oath with myself I wouldn't start another novel-length fic until it is finished and this has lead to cascade of procrastination where I use it as an excuse not to do other things while also making zero progress with it. Agjkdfhdfd.
Also, I kinda want to add that extra chapter to my Bang-won/Hui Jae fic because I looooooove him and it's such a great pairing and I was pleasantly surprised how well that fic turned out, but it would be hard to justify and thus hard to find an 'ending' for it. It'd just be some 'stuff' pasted on lol.

If you want to get into fanfiction you just have to accept that flanderization and popular fan interpretations of characters are something you're going to have to wade through even if you don't like them
I can understand the frustration of some people who get really into something (movie, book, show), and thus try and dive into fandom but then find that a considerable portion of fic has the characters being wildly out of character.
Especially if they find that an extremely popular fanon interpretation of a character, majorly conflicts with how said character is in canon.
For an easy example that's on my mind because it's the 20th anniversary of Danny Phantom, and also dannypocalypse.
Danny Fenton has a number of extremely flanderized fanon interpretations, which all conflict with who he is in canon, and the other fanon versions of him floating around.
A lot of fics will have Danny actually be just as much of a science/math genius as the rest of the Fenton family, and his bad grades are actually entirely due to the fact that he's too busy being Phantom to do anything related to school.
This directly contradicts with the show, which has more than one instance of Danny being so bad at math specifically, that it's completely valid to think he literally has dyscalculia.
Along with there literally being no evidence that Danny has any interest in math or any of the sciences beyond his desire to be an astronaut.
[Which when I learned the requirements for becoming an astronaut, I always thought Danny would be going the 1,000+ hours of pilot-in-command time on a jet aircraft route vs the degrees in a STEM field route. Considering how many hours he apparently put into the shuttle flight simulator already.]
A lot of fics will have Danny be a feral little gremlin kind of character, who does things like bites people, doesn't care how dirty he or his surroundings are, and will eat spoiled food.
Completely unlike Danny in the show. Who in spite of his weird smoothie experiments, refuses weird looking but completely edible food offered to him on more than one occasion. Along with his habit of vacuuming the walls when he cleans.
Then there's the whole Danny as the ghost king characterization, which has no basis in canon. Considering there isn't anything in canon that says the title is won by right of conquest, because we aren't given any information about how Pariah himself became the ghost king, or even if there were ghost kings before him.
Then there's the interpretation of Danny being too noble to use his powers for selfish gain, or commit crimes.
Even though in canon he uses his powers to prank Dash multiple times in the series with no repercussions for most of what he does. Along with being 100% willing to use his powers to cheat the haunted house contest, and also just straight up steal an ancient ghost artifact to make said haunted house scarier.
The thing about fanfiction is that characters are going to be different from what they're like in canon be default for a variety of reasons.
The author is changing the character to suit the story they wanna tell, the author is magnifying a canon trait of a character to explore it more, the author is inverting a character trait to see how that would change the rest of the character's story-
And 80 billion other variations of that idea.
Like I'm sorry if you turned to a bunch of hobbyist writers on the internet who write primarily for their own indulgence in search of more canon quality content, but you're not going to find it in 99.999999999999999% of fics you will ever find.
Sure you might find one specific fic or one specific writer, who you feels absolutely nails how a character acts in canon.
But also, not really, because your own perspective of how that character is supposed to act is tainted by your own opinions about that character.
Or for another example, if you go to the Miraculous fandom...
There's people who genuinely see Marinette as a kind of deranged stalker, and hate her to the point of wanting Adrien to end up with literally any other girl. Including the ones who want to use him for their own gain, like Lila, who doesn't even really like him romantically.
Because they hate Marinette, and want Marinette to suffer losing out to the girl she thinks is a bad person. More than they want Adrien to end up in a happy and functional relationship with a girl who would treat him well.
[Literally, I've seen Marinette haters insist Adrien needed to end up with either Lila or Chloe specifically, because Marinette approves of Kagami and willingly handed Adrien over to her. They want whoever Marinette likes the least to be who Adrien ends up with, even if he wouldn't be treated well by whoever that is.]
And there's people who genuinely see Marinette as the constant victim of unjustified cosmic karma, who would have solved the Hawkmoth thing and won over Adrien ages ago if it weren't for plot contrivances insisted upon by the writers. Who insist upon doing this to keep from solving the love square, to keep the will they/won't they plot going, which is one of the main focuses of the show.

HOWEVER, it was the first and last time you got a star when you were being a little brat about it. don't lose the star, it took me a while to find it kdhwka 🤐 phew, I'm glad you didn't even mention the name of the book or make other recommendations, I won't take note and bring some kind of update when I can see about it better. well, as long as we don't go back to talking about what we definitely weren't talking about, then I think things are totally fine. and I'm not going to say that this thing about not making literal sense, but the feelings being there is something even more impactful due to the fact that you can reach a level of understanding and even greater interpretation due to the fact that these feelings - despite being the focus - continues between the lines with synonyms and comparisons.

i wouldn't say my opinions are cool, i just think about them a lot because that's the way i am. i think adding those little thoughts/opinions is what makes writing fun and what can make a fic stand out because imagine how boring it would be if kate was just a one-dimensional being who just went along with the plot. it would be awful. and yes, you're right, i'm a sucker for that comparison lmao. [but only in spanish because Shrek is funnier in spanish, argue with the wall] i have so many thoughts all of the time but right now all i can think about is how alone she truly is and how that impacts how loyal and devoted she is to the people around her. like, we know she's traumatized af because of her dad's death, she's severely attached to her mom despite how damaging that relationship can be, and she hella admires clint from afar until the events of hawkeye. we never hear anything about her having other family members or friends or anything at all. i know a lot of people headcanon kate as being popular or a jock and stuff but like...idk, sometimes i can't see it. i don't know where i was going with this but those are my shuffled cards, now it's your turn to complete the deck.

Vanity Faire just did a piece about how the podcast industry is melting now because advertisers have finally realized there are literally 3 million of these (actual number) and people aren't interested in 2.999 million of them.
Everyone is accusing Serial of starting the boom because it got embarrassingly popular and inspired already unprofitable media companies to throw everything at expensive podcasts no one needed.
I consider this vindication because I never liked Serial. Never did. And for the pettiest reason imaginable:
It is a true-crime podcast called Serial that ISN'T ABOUT A SERIAL KILLER.
Meanwhile there are lots of podcasts actually about serial killers. And also those don't cost millions of dollars to produce because they're not made by NPR news veterans who don't understand how THERE ARE 3 MILLION OF THESE, NO ONE NEEDS YOUR 12-PERSON PRODUCTION TEAM WRITING NEW MUSIC FOR EACH EPISODE, GUYS.
GUYS.
Also probably don't need to be renting all that expensice studio space in NYC and DC.
Last time I checked, my favorite podcast is two guys with mics and a laptop in a room in one of their houses. The whole point of these things is that they are dirt-cheap and simple to make.
You turned podcasting into a grandpa corporate radio show and you're shocked to discover no one wants to pay for that.
You know. Like we haven't since 2010. Because WE HAVE PODCASTING NOW.
I guess I'm supposed to feel sorry for all of those professional journalists who are losing their careers now. But 1) I think they were grossly overpaid to begin with, 2) you are not entitled to any career, 3) tech murders everyone's job, no one gets an immunity pass, and 4) I do not necessarily see a link between journalists being paid a lot = quality journalism.
The pursuit of truth and the dissemination of said truth are principles that drive certain people. That shouldn't be contingent on whether it pays your kids' private school tuition. You should be paid for it, but how much is a worthwhile question. Especially when your consumer base is dwindling at an alarming rate.
Again, you're not entitled to a comfortable middle class livelihood just cuz. I don't care how much your dad got paid to do it.
(Also, lots of nepo-babies in broadcast journalism. That's gross any time it happens anywhere, even in blacksmithing or roofing. Find your own thing. Don't be lazy.)
Also as an aside, I am in favor of paying for quality journalism. But it has to reach a very high bar. I was paying for the New York Times until they doubled-down on antagonistic transphobia as heroic "both sides" journalism.
Bigotry is a problem to be solved, not just another neutral viewpoint in a supposed level free speech playing field. This isn't 1988, and that was BS back then. I'm not paying to watch old rich people be confused about the difference between sex and gender. Hire younger staff writers or read a goddamn book, you pricks.
Or just call yourself Confused Boomer News and charge them $150 a month for it. Which, like cable bills, they'll pay. Because they too still like to pretend it's 1988, apparently.
