one of my favourite things about my boyfriend is that he's 6'4 but convinced he is a normal sized person and this does not constitute "tall"
once, if not twice, a week the card game shop he plays digimon at upload a top-4 photo best described as "gandalf and the hobbits" and every time he is genuinely baffled as to why he looks like that

2 & 11 - comparing hand sizes as an excuse to hold hands + smiling against your partner’s lips as you kiss
wanda maximoff x reader
words: 337
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was Wanda’s idea to take a walk through the park, and what a beautiful day for it. There's only a few clouds in the sky, birds chirping musically overhead, and plenty of other people enjoying the weather.
Eventually, you both found yourself lounging beneath a tree in the shade. Your back is resting against the truck while Wanda is half-curled in your lap, your fingers carding through her hair. Conversation had naturally petered out and now you were just enjoying each other’s company.
Wanda sighs in content. “This is nice.”
You hum in agreement, lightly scratching at her scalp. You smile when she shivers and wiggles closer.
“How do your tiny hands feel so good?” she wonders aloud.
“Excuse you,” you reply with an incredulous laugh, nudging at her forehead. “My hands are not small.”
Wanda rolls onto her back to grin at you. “Yes, they are. They're tiny and cute, just like the rest of you.”
“I’ll have you know I am average height and my hands are perfectly normal sized.”
“Oh yeah?” she challenges. “Wanna test that theory?”
“It's not a theory, it's a fact! Hold up your hand, I’ll prove it,” you reply, raising your own and gesturing for her to do the same.
She laughs, but listens, bringing her hand up to yours, palm to fingertips. She laughs even harder when you scowl, seeing her fingers reach about half an inch taller than yours. Before you can pout too hard and pull away, she laces her stupid, longer fingers with your stupid, shorter ones. With a smug grin, she kisses the back of your hand.
You narrow your eyes. “You look awfully pleased with yourself,” you observe, suspicious.
“I don't know what you mean,” she says as she widens her eyes innocently.
She giggles when you loom closer to her, noses touching.
“You're lucky I like you,” you mutter, fighting your own smile.
You're both smiling a bit too wide to kiss at first, but her happiness tastes too good to separate.

Headcanon Height Chart
Here's my head canon line up for the characters along with my reasoning. I'd love to hear how other people picture them!
Tumblr media
Actual Data
"The average orc stands six and a half feet tall." (Lore Tablet 1)
"Female orcs are stronger than males." (Lore Tablet 1)
"Elves are taller than humans, standing an average of just over six feet fall." (Lore Tablet 1)
"[Humans are] smaller than orcs and shorter than elves." (Lore Tablet 1)
Assumptions
In the real word, the average person is about 5'4" (5'2' for assigned female at birth, 5'6" for assigned male at birth). I picked 5'6" as the average human height across sexes for conceptual symmetry (about 6 inches between the average height for each race).
In the real world, males tend to be taller than females. I am applying this to humans and elves, but not to orcs, as orc females tend to be stronger (which I'm somewhat spuriously correlating with height).
For the chart itself, it's a general art rule to have a person's crotch/wrists at about half of their height. That put the 'floor' for everyone's full body sprites at about 2 feet. I did not stretch or squish anyone. It looks kind of whack to me, but I have no solution for that.
Character Specific Lines
"You bump into a tall man [Mal] heading out of the village!" (Book 1, Chapter 1) Mal is taller than the average human man.
"An exceptionally bulky cocoon thrashes and bursts apart. Prince Baldur tumbles out." (Book 1, Chapter 9) Baldur is unusually large.
"[Nia] You were puny and insignificant before." and "Leave me alone, tiny man [Mal]." (Book 2, Chapter 12) Valax may just be trying to insult everyone, but I'm taking this as she's taller than both of them.
"The bed's too small." (Book 2, Chapter 17) This could be Imtura just wanting an excuse to go at it on the desk, but I'm choosing to believe she's taller than her mother. I cannot imagine Queen Ventra putting up with a suboptimal bed for herself.
Just Vibes
Nia just gives me short girl energy.
I could have sworn that somewhere Aerin is described as the smaller prince, but I couldn't find it. We know Baldur is stronger than Aerin, so I guess I just assumed he's also taller?
I picture Aerin as shorter than average, contributing to his whole *gestures vaguely at him* complex.
For Mal, I feel like it's easier to do rogue-ing if you're not super tall.
I just think it's neat if Valax is big.
Bonus Imtura next to Aerin to drive home how terrifying I imagine her 'lifting him off his feet by the scruff of his shirt' would be-

Inheritance Cycle height headcanon time!
We have height descriptions like "tall", "an inch or so taller", "slightly shorter", let me ruin your day~
Roran: He was slightly taller than Eragon, when they parted, Eragon caught up, they are the same height now. He has no opinion about his appearance – until it's good enough for Katrina, he's content with it.
Eragon: Average height. He was still growing when he left Palancar valley, but because of his hard time on the road – injuries, not enough food, straining himself – he stopped growing and by the time he was about to get a growth spurt, Agaetí Brödhren happened. Physically he didn't changed after that. Later he was a bit mad at Umaroth for ditching that small height he had stored in, and doesn't care about the dragons "but it would've thrown you off-balance!" excuse.
Murtagh: If Eragon is Literal Average at their first meeting, then he's an inch or two taller than that. That's five centimetres, it's mostly unnoticeable. However, the height difference between him and Eragon stayed the same even though he was around twenty in the end of the series and finished growing – the spell that made Thorn grow faster, leaked through their bond and gave him some height, too. Just enough to keep that difference between him and Eragon, just enough to make him re-learn all of his moves. All of his clothes and his armour had to be remade as well. (The king was more careful with his magic after that.)
Arya: Eragon says, she's tall. She's not, by elf-standards, she's just taller than Eragon. By looking at her, you'd think she is tall, and most people are surprised when standing next to her, they notice that she is, in fact, not. Still deadly, though.
Nasuada: One long queen, please. Her people are tall, she had a healthy upbringing, she's tall, no questions asked.
Katrina: One short queen, please. She's small, but not petite. Also, don't let her height fool you; she will fight you.
Brom: Only slightly taller than Eragon; our boy would be on his level if that thing didn't happen. Brom would be relieved that he remains taller, as he was always shorter than any of his long-time acquaintances, except for the dwarves.
Selena: She can see eye to eye with Brom, which is tall for a woman. She's around Arya's height, but doesn't have her "i am lean and tall" aura. (She's a hair taller than Brom, but he pretends she's not. She lets it slide.)
Jeod: 2/3 of his body are his legs. He's as tall as Ajihad, except when he sits down, then he's just as tall as Brom.
Galbatorix: average for his time, slightly short for the present. He's built like a barrel.
Morzan: You bet he does door frame quality control with his forehead. He's just Freaking Tall. Galbatorix made sure that whenever they had to be present at the same time, he stood on the dais or on the top of the stairs whenever Morzan was around him. Everyone knew his general was taller than him, but no-one wanted to mention it, obviously. Morzan was very pleased, though.

All of my species so far! For this world building project (which is just for fun) I want to eventually have 8 original species, but man making original species that I love deeply is hard... !! So I am pretty proud of the three I have right now.
I meant to just write a little bit about each species then I wrote too much oooooops!! under the cut.
First are the Torpogo, they build/dig massive underground structures and rarely come above ground. Their sight has degraded so much they can only tell if there's light or not.
They're about 3 ft on average, the males are slightly taller than the females, but not by much.
They make up for their lack of eyesight with their amazing hearing, and express emotions with clicking and whistling sounds that they can make with specialized muscles in their noses. Music and sounds are an important part of many Torpogo cultures.
They mostly eat tubers and bugs, they farm unique crops that can grow without sunlight and have domesticated many types of bugs for different uses.
Due mainly to their blindness, Torpogo rarely wear clothes. When in a non-majority torpogo society, this may cause trouble for them, as a lot of other species relate wearing clothes with intelligence.
Second are the Viamri, (viamrus, for singular) despite being on the large end of the tall species, Viamrus are a skittish folk, hailing from a land where earthquakes are a daily occurrence with the land ready to crack, shift, and swallow anything on their surface down into the earth, their bodies were made to jump and soar great distances at a moments notice.
The females average about 7 feet tall, and males 8'5", like all species, they come in an array of different shapes and sizes. While being slender was necessary in their pre-historic days, Viamri can live happy lives at any size nowadays.
Their prominent chests are made up mostly of a vestigial keel bone, that long ago lost its purpose. It's theorized to have stuck around because fellow Viamri think it's attractive.
They are obligate herbivores.
While they travel in packs, it would be hard to tell you've come across a pack if you are not a viamrus yourself, as when a viamri pack is travelling, they usually keep a distance of a few hundred feet between each other, communicating over far distances with honking noises.
Viamri wear clothes sometimes. Typically only scarfs or robes that cover their arms, as getting clothes to go around their patagia comfortably can be challenging.
Third are the Kurah, A species somewhere in between a mammal and reptile. Kurah have very complicated social structures, their whole lives centred around studying. Studying what? Everything. Studying why? Just for the sake of it!
Kurah live to be about 150, and aren't considered adults until they're at least 24. Even then, adult is not considered the final stage of maturation, and there are many different levels beyond adulthood depending on the culture.
Kurah are about 5'0" on average, females are commonly a few inches taller than the males.
They are oviparous, and typically only have 1–2 eggs at a time.
OK my pain meds wore off I can't write anymore... </3

GLADLY :)
While Dr. Julien was building Zane, he made him have the same traits as a regular human(consuming, feeling, all that). Zane was made to be gentle and a son. After Dr. Julien erased his memory, Zane spent all his life thinking they were human, and the other ninja also thought he was human as well, plus they were all implied to be teenagers in the pilots-s2. In retrospect, it could be that he was average height.
In Pixal's case however, she's visibly an android. She probably didn't have the same traits Zane had when she was first built. Pixal was made to assist Cyrus Borg, who is handicapped, therefore, probably not able to reach up high. In my own personal opinion, what's the point of building a robot that's made to assist you if they aren't tall? Ik you could kinda use this argument with Zane, but as I stated before, he was made to be gentle and a son. And the interior in Borg's office(I think that's the room) is HUGE, don't tell me that Cyrus doesn't have trouble getting those materials, yes you could bring up the spider thing he had in the beginning of s3 but I don't think it could really go up that high. Pixal was an android made to assist humans. It makes more sense that she's the one taller throughout season 3.
Alright, pilots and s3 out of the way. Time for when both of them rebuilt themselves :3
Zane rebuilding himself to be taller than Pixal after his death does make sense in some sort of way. But after Pixal got scrapped, she rebuilt herself to save her father in s7. She rebuilt herself so she could fight and quite literally defeated the embodiment of death single handedly. Pixal had to rebuilt her body so she could fit the Samurai X suit, but later on, she comes back with a completely new one, and do not tell me that her suit doesn't add a few couple 2-3 inches to her height. Her Samurai X suit intimated the villains back in s8 so there's some points there, but i still fully believe she rebuilt her body without the suit to look gentle, and she is. Zane still had that gentle look and 100% built some deadly weapons in him.
Now I am not done.
Zane obviously has a habit of throwing himself into danger to protect his loved ones. Pixal has seen this time and time again while being in his head and witnessing his death in s3. Watching your partner injured or becoming close to death and not being able to do anything is GOING to do something to you. It makes sense that she would want to protect him. Hence, building herself to be taller so she could.
Zane's most likely never going to let go of that habit even if you would punch it into his head. Pixal 100% knows this you can't say otherwise.
Thank you for very kindly asking😁

Silly BRC Headcanons: Heights!
The hyperfixation continues, here's some heights for some of the BRC characters. Mainly did this since I am planning to do more proper arts of some of the characters later, so I wanted to have a solid idea for some of their heights now. And then I ended up doing heights for all of them actually, lol
Red is supposedly around 180 cm in canon? At least that's what I've seen a few people say. I'm assuming it was some sort of calculation using the in-game model. Even if that's not the case, I'm accepting it as my headcanon anyways, and used that height for Red as a baseline for the rest of these.
Also I decided that I wanted Red to be the shortest of BRC and even the gangs in general, with the Flesh Prince being the only one shorter than that. Because why the hell not, these are headcanons, not like anyone can stop me. :P
Though in doing so, I realized I ended up making just about everyone very tall. Oh well! :u
I'm putting these in cm, but also with very approximate feet-inches for convenience of anyone who doesn't want to convert these over! That being said, I'd consider the cm heights to be more accurate/specific.
Starting off with BRC:
Red = 180 cm / 5' 10"
Tryce = 186 cm / 6' 1"
Bel = 182 cm / 5' 11"
Vinyl = 184 cm / 6' 0"
Solace = 181 cm / 5' 11"
Rise = 185 cm / 6' 1"
Rietveld = 186 cm / 6' 1"
Felix = 182 cm / 5' 11" (essentially, I'm imagining Red is only slightly shorter because he has Faux's body. Clearly, Pretty Boy should've eaten more veggies, loool)
The rest of the crew in my mind are somewhere in the range of 181 cm to 185 cm, I just can't decide on specific numbers for them right now. ^^;
I am making DJ Cyber 188 cm / 6' 2" because honestly, he really does give me that vibe of being taller than most of the other characters. :P
Then there's Devil Theory (see here for a quick who's-who in my headcanons of them, lol):
Sai = 193 cm / 6' 4"
Daishō = 187 cm / 6' 2"
Bō = 183 cm / 6' 0"
Nunchaku = 185 cm / 6' 1"
I imagine all of DOT EXE being different heights as well, basically being whatever height they had before going full-cyber. Cueball is around 190 cm / 6' 3", and is the median height of the group. I'll have to decide on the others later, sorry. :u
As mentioned, the Flesh Prince is the shortest one, I assigned him to 167 cm / 5' 5". Which is just short compared to the rest of these character, that's still fairly tall compared to the average person. But most importantly, it means I still get to be taller than him by like one or two centimeters, mwahaha!! >:D
The rest of the Franks are probably like, around 200 to 202 cm? Roughly 6' 7". I looked it up, the average heights for basketball players in the NBA right now is around 6' 6", so that sounds about right for them imo.
Eclipse are all around 195 cm / 6' 5" in my mind. Tall ladies! And then the rest of FUTURISM are between 181 cm and 185 cm like the rest of BRC.
Bonus, Escher gets to be 195 cm / 6' 5" too, his in-game model is definitely a good chunk taller than the player models. Hopefully the tall man returns from his bus trip soon. :P

no I just read your analysis in König's hands and I cannot possibly understand if someone can have hands like that, I EVEN GOT MY TAPE MEASURE OUT AND IT SCARED ME
basically, I'm 4'11 and my hands are small, like barely 5", my phone has the same height and it's too big for me to use with one hand only and I still can't comprehend how is that possible. It doesn't make sense (I mean that's the fun part of it but damn, sometimes I forget how much of an oompa loompa I am)
anyways thank you for your writing! it's absolutely amazing, sorry if something doesn't make sense, English is my second language. Take care, love you!
@boingboingboom NO BECAUSE I WAS LITERALLY SITTING THERE WITH MY STYLUS AND TAPE MEASURE GOING “what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck”
That’s why I did three different photos, each with their own reference and scale, so I’d be able to get a collective average, but he just kept being huge. He’s fucking huge.
We know there tends to be a positive correlation between height and the size of someone’s hands — the taller someone is, the more likely they are to have bigger hands. You’re 59 inches tall with nearly 5-inch hands. I’m 68 inches with 7-inch hands. I’m 9 inches taller than you and my hands are 2 inches longer. Our dearest König is 82 inches with, presumably, 10-inch hands. So, he’d be 14 inches taller than me and his hands would be 3 inches longer. He’d be 23 inches taller than you with a nearly double hand length. That is fucking terrifying, but it does make some proportional sense.
I was poking around in NBA height/hand size listings because I was like “hey that’s a bunch of absurdly tall people with publicly listed hand measurements” and it does line up that people around Königs height have about 9.5/10-inch hand lengths.
I don’t know anything about basketball so don’t ask me who these people are, I was just looking at their measurements, but for example:
Greg Smith is 6’10” with a hand length of 9.8 inches, he’s our boys height and literally 0.2 inches away from my wonky estimate. Connie Hawkins, at 6’8”, was 2 inches shorter than König with a hand length of 10.5 inches Kawhi Leonard, at 6’7”, is a whole 3 inches shorter than König with a hand length of 9.75 inches
The bit about your phone is so funny because I found out there’s this dude (Boban Marjanovic) who’s 7’4” and uses an iPad as a phone. A fucking iPad. Human genetics are so fucking weird, I swear.
There are people as tall as König irl — there’s even people taller than him — they’re just way above the average. I’m fairly tall for a female born person but like, one of my friends is 7 inches taller than me so I forget that I’m “tall” until my other friend reminds me that I’m 6 inches taller than her. I think you’re short, but König would think we’re both short lol.
But yeah, I’ve been freaking out about how big König is since I did those measurements, like holy fuck.
You’re welcome, thank you for reading! Absolutely do not apologize for being bilingual, that’s an amazing skill, and everything made perfect sense. Love you too!

brute forcing my way into guessing the heights of the six years, a horrible, horrible post
Tumblr media
a bit ago on twitter, someone posted a shot from the official animation book that had all the character heights lined up and it had me curious. so naturally, i compiled all my previous notes (yes, i had previous notes on this) and put them together into this rambling nightmare for you to enjoy. all heights will be reported in metric but im adding imperial measurements for ease of comparison.
this is all for fun and all to quench my own personal demons so its probably inaccurate but please let me have this
WITH THAT, let's begin with who I know has a definitive, at least semi-canon height stated somewhere.
Tumblr media
GINGIN
In the tsudois (fan-gathering), Amako notes he's the same height at Heisuke at 165 cm (shorter side of 5'5). as a general note the tsudois aren't officially canon unless they later are and sometimes contradict info in the anime and manga, but i haven't seen enough contrary evidence to disprove this.
one down five to go.
Shioe Monjirou: 165 cm (5'5)
With that, here's another freebie for me. It's kind of difficult to discern sometimes, but Kema's generally taller than Monjirou for the most part. This is confirmed by the animation book height charts and also by the musical, where he's 3分 (about 1 cm) taller than Monjirou, so I don't have to lose sleep over this much. thank you kenen for making my life easier
Tumblr media
Kema Tomesaburou: 166 cm (5'5)
Now onto Isaku and Senzou. The author has ranked the six years by height before, so i'm putting it here because i forgot to earlier.
from shortest to tallest: isaku + senzou (same height), monjirou, tomesaburou, koheita, chouji
referencing the anime imo can be dubiously helpful because shots where the characters stand side by side directly facing the camera tend to be kind of rare so heights can look inconsistent. that being said, i still compiled images for my own reference in addition to the height chart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from the fifth years vs the six years arc and the orienteering arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from shuichirous debut arc. not totally side by side and they're leaning back/forward, but it might be useful
I don't remember if they have an official height stated anywhere, so I just eyeballed this one. the anime isnt super consistent but senzou looks about an inch shorter than monjirou (2-3 cm). eyeballing the animation book height chart if the gap btwn monji and kema is supposed to be around a cm, the gap btwn monji and isaku is just tall enough that I can probably safely say he's at least more than a cm shorter than 165.
for reference, the red line here is rantarou, who is I think 136 cm (4'5). as an aside, the height chart also puts the average six year to be a little shorter than doi, who's canonically 175 cm, so. shrug?
Tumblr media
ive seen them noted as 162-163 cm a couple times before though but i don't actually know if it's canon or not, but that's already my hc anyhow, so im going to be extremely biased here. etto bleh
Tachibana Senzou: 163 cm (5'4)
Zenpouji Isaku: 163 cm (5'4)
i didn't expect short senzou actually but it makes a lot of sense...
ROKURO TIME
these two were a nightmare to figure out because i had some trouble finding good shots of these two next to the other six years, so I decided to use someone else whose height i knew: kirimaru.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kirimaru is about 140 cm (4’7) and consistently goes up to a little below chouji's shoulder. chouji looks about a foot taller, so about 170 cm (5’7) or 172 cm (5’8).
to verify my work, i compared the height difference with doi, who's 175 cm. kirimaru goes up to what looks like the middle of his upper arm. or around the dark blue stripe on his casual wear here. what am i saying
Tumblr media
just for fun, i also compared these with isaku and zatto, who's 180 cm (5'11). isaku goes roughly to his neck and there's a 15-20 cm difference, so i think a 30 cm difference between kirimaru and chouji made sense.
Tumblr media
Nakazaike Chouji: 171 cm (5'7)
the six years don't have drastic variations in height visually anyhow so i felt this was fair since he's the tallest.
koheita's height is all over the place sometimes. he gets drawn as being shorter sometimes, but i can't tell?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
his hair makes him look way taller than he actually is lol. but the height disparity looks pretty similar to 1-2 cm shorter compared to chouji, so that's my ruling because i accidentally spent too much time working on choujis height. dont worry about the details, or something
Nanamatsu Koheita: 169 cm (5'6.5)
And thus, our verdict is as follows:
Senzou + Isaku (163 cm), Monjirou (165 cm), Tomesaburou (166 cm), Koheita (169 cm), and Chouji (171 cm). we did it...
just for fun, I also pulled up the official height charts for them as first years just for comparisons sake and because there's a more obvious difference in height (and also look at them...my children...)
Tumblr media
isaku and kema actually look shorter than senzou here though which is interesting (though tomesaburou looks like the same height as him too). imagining rokuha outgrowing senzou at some point and hes kind of a sore loser about it bwaswbashwabwa...
while I was putting this post together, I also found out they have heights listed on the jpwiki...oops. but i thought it would be fun to check my answers.
Senzou + Isaku (163 cm), Monjirou (165 cm), Tomesaburou (166 cm), Koheita (168 cm), and Chouji (170 cm)
Actually not that far off! im curious where the other canon heights came from; is it also in the animation book?? i don't have an actual copy of it, but it would be fun to go through especially because there's references for the other grades.
conclusion. this was fun. thank you for reading my monstrously long ramble. i put so much effort into this...bye

id love to hear why you love 462 steam locomotives
Ah, I can talk a bit about Pacifics, yeah!
My taste in locomotives tends to veer towards high-speed passenger rail, because I'm a bit of a speed freak (note: this is an understatement). As such, I gravitate to locomotives that were designed to go fast and get people somewhere in the blink of an eye, so 4-6-2 Pacifics and 4-6-4 Hudsons tend to be some of my favorites, as well as the 4-4-2 Atlantics the Milwaukee Road ran, the streamlined Class As.
The current world speed record holder for steam locomotives is my favorite Pacific, LNER 4468 Mallard, designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, who was absolutely phenomenal at building Pacifics in particular.
Tumblr media
I know I've explained Whyte notation on this blog before, but you can see Mallard has two sets of leading wheels for a total of four, three sets of drive wheels for a total of six, and one set of trailing wheels for a total of two, hence 4-6-2.
In general, the easiest way to tell what a steam locomotive was used for is the size of the drive wheels. Strasburg #90, the 2-10-0 Decapod I've had the honor of driving exactly one time, was a freight locomotive; her drive wheels are smaller, which allows for greater tractive effort, making it easier for her to pull a lot of weight. Passenger locomotives tend to have larger drive wheels because they were designed to go fast. Let's put that into perspective with a photo of me next to a K4, a Pennsylvania Railroad 4-6-2 Pacific:
Tumblr media
I am 5'2", aka 62 inches tall. These drive wheels next to me are a whopping 80 INCHES TALL. That's taller than the average person. A person who is 6 feet tall is 72 inches tall. These drive wheels are 6'8". Here's a wider shot to really give you a sense of how big these things were:
Tumblr media
Pacifics existed for one reason and one reason only, and that was to go fast. Some of them did mixed traffic (passenger and freight), and some even did freight, but they were designed for passenger work, and it shows in the wheels. Between the 1920s-1940s, Pacifics dominated express service in many places around the world, although as trains got longer and heavier, many railroads upgraded to the 4-6-4 Hudson, which was essentially a Pacific with two extra trailing wheels, allowing for a bigger firebox. Hudsons were heavier, but they could whip, too - the Milwaukee Road's Class F7 Hudsons rivaled Mallard for top speed (and may have surpassed her, but were never officially verified), and of course everyone recognizes the Dreyfuss Hudsons that pulled the 20th Century Limited starting in the late 1930s.
Some of my favorite examples of 4-6-2 Pacifics are, of course, Mallard herself, pictured above, the PRR's K4s (also sort of pictured above; I'm next to the drive wheels), and the CNJ's G3s, which pulled the Blue Comet between Jersey City and Atlantic City:
Tumblr media
They're just gorgeous, honestly.
tl;dr I am a ballast scorcher and like to go fast, and Pacifics are fast

@elvaria-project tagged me, and I’m happy to answer questions.
1. Are you named after anyone?
No. To hear my mom tell it (and my mom lies...a lot. About everything. So I don’t know anymore), I was named after the perfume she was wearing when I was born. Her favorites were Jasmine, Ciara, and Frankincense and Myrrh. In which case I could have been Frankie, I guess, but I’m Jasmine.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I don’t keep track, but within the last week. It’s been...a stressful time lately.
3. Do you have kids?
No, and though I’ve thought about adopting an older child, odds are slim that will happen.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Less than I used to, since people too often didn’t catch on. Pretty much the only people I see anymore are coworkers, so it wasn’t worth the risk.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
I genuinely don’t know how to answer this question. I’m not sure.
6. What’s your eye colour?
Hazel.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Scary movies with happy endings.
8. Any special talents?
I used to think so, but not really.
9. Where were you born?
Same town where I live now.
10. What are your hobbies?
Jigsaw puzzles, cooking, baking, writing, reading. I can sort of knit and embroider, and I ought to take one of them up again. I was learning to play mountain dulcimer and stopped practicing. I should pick it up again, too.
11. Have you any pets?
Rhapsody, my almost 14-year-old chihuahua-minpin mix, and Laszlo, chonky grey tuxedo disaster cat.
12. What sports do you play/have played?
I am not really a sports or outdoors kind of person.
13. How tall are you?
Apparently 1 inch taller than the average American woman.
14. Favorite subject in school?
Sociology.
15. Dream job?
For now? Being the soup fairy, selling dehydrated soup kits at Renaissance festivals.
If you’re seeing this, I’m leaving an open tag. I want to hear about your pets and your dream job and everything.

My Sonic Gear Quatro 2 USB Speakers Review (w/ my paper dolls) - Full [Dec 15th, 2022]
Hi! Here’s my (final) item review this December (2022), and just like in November, I decided to make a full review in one sitting post for the second time.🪑🙂
So, this is my full review of the Sonic Gear Quatro 2 USB Speakers (featuring my Paper Dolls).🖥️🔊🙂
BTW: If you haven’t watch my revealing parcel for this particular item, then please [CLICK ME!].
So, without further ado, let’s get started:
1st & 2nd Image(s): ↑
• So, here's the box itself. Looks very promising, and the blue background is taking cues from the Logitech boxes. I mean, try to type "Logitech blue box" on Google search & compare it to the box that you've shown it above. I think my paper dolls agrees. 📦🙂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3rd & 4th Image(s): ↑
• Out of the box are the main item & a Guarantee Card / User Manual written in the Indonesian language. 📤🔊📄 Mmmmm, I don't think I won't be filling out this thing. 🤔 Anyway, the speaker channels are wrapped in plastic, so why not unwrap them right away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5th & 6th Image(s): ↑
• That's better! My paper dolls said, "they look gorgeous!". Yup, can't wait to hear their sound quality. 😃 But, let's dive through their details & comparisons before we proceeded to the sound test. 🙂
Tumblr media
7th Image: ↑
• From left to right, you can see the volume rocker, a 3.5mm aux jack, and a normal USB type A (2.0A).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
8th to 12th Image(s): ↑
• Alright, comparison time with my old Genius SP-U115 USB speakers. You've already seen it during my review, right? Heck, I even used it as my paper dolls' stand to see it through. But, I digress. Anyways, when it comes to design, they're completely different; from side to side, and even their bottom feet. In terms of height, they're both 4 inches using my ruler measurement 📏, with the Genius speaker being a bit taller than the Sonic Gear speaker. My paper dolls said, that they'll gonna missed, my old speaker. Don't worry, my old speaker will always stay in our home when everyone is more needed than I am. 😊
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
13th to 17th Image(s): ↑
• Now, let's talk about some features of the Sonic Gear Quatro 2. These speakers feature a quad bass effect on each channel to deliver a deep, boom & powerful bass when I tune on the music. Sounds quite promising here. Plus, there's a volume rocker which you've already seen it, considering an audio standard. And finally, a moldy brush aluminum finish for their unique stylish. Yeah, well, technically it's made out of hard plastic that mimics a metal material. But, mind you, it looks pretty well presented. 👌
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18th & 19th Image(s): ↑
• Their plastic wiring is solid & not thin, with the total length of 1.5 mm long. And you may wondering what's on the written behind the volume rocker? It says, "SONICGEAR - An original design by sonicgear lab, Singapore. Protected by international copyright law. Sonicgear is a trademark of sonicgear lab PTE. Ltd. Singapore." Yeah, ummm... That's something, to be honest. 🤔
Tumblr media
20th Image: ↑
• Alright, now that we're down the details, let's get this thing started! And my paper dolls are excited to hear. 😁🖥️🔊
My Recorded video 🎦📲: ↑ (Pls watch my video):
• Alright, now that my old speaker is finally out of my PC's audio port, my new PC speaker is all set up & ready to play some tunes! Unfortunately, I can't play any music in public due to 🛑copyright issues⚠️. Instead, I bang the volume adjuster sound as my sound test tool. But, don't worry, I'll share my experience of using the Sonicgear Quatro 2.
• Now, I played it for a couple of hours, and I have to say... The sound quality is "Average". Sure it's balanced, and sometimes a bit of crisp, but also muddy when I listen to bass-related music. And that quad bass thing is a mixed bag to some, including myself. But, given that this is a budget speaker, I guess I might hard to accept. After all, I get what I paid for. So yeah, bottom line, the sound quality is "Average" (if not great), plus I could hear the voice (decently) & the separation is A-Okay. 👌 Uh yeah, I forgot. Did I mention, that there's a little lighting on the volume rocker & also behind indicating that it's turn on? Yup, that's quite interesting.
Overall & price tag:
• The Quatro 2 from Sonicgear is quite alright. All the important ones are present, however, the bass (including the so-called "quad bass") could be used a little tuning, or maybe a different quality of bass drive for good results. But, that's just my opinion (so, I digress). Regardless, the Sonicgear Quatro 2 is a pretty decent speaker that will be suited for any computer lovers/users (especially gamers) 🙂👌🖥️🔊, except for bass enthusiasts. You're better off browsing a good bass speaker, elsewhere. 😕
• As for the price tag of Sonicgear Quatro 2, It costs ₱377.00 🏷️💵($ 6.77 US) with discounted price from Lazada PH 🇵🇭🛒🌐, and I purchased it back in Dec. 21st, 2020. Unfortunately, it is no longer available from the online seller, but, you could still find it somewhere (e.g. Amazon, Aliexpress, etc.). But, is it worth it? Well, for me,(like I said) I get what I paid for. And I could revert to my old speaker if I want a true quality sound. 🤷
Well, that's the end of my 2022 review! I'll see you in 2023.
And you haven’t seen my previous topic, then I’ll provide some links down below. ↓😉

No one sent me Bookish Asks so I'm just gonna do them all myself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1. What's a book you loved in a genre you usually don't read?
Oof, honestly, not sure. I mostly stick entirely to speculative fiction (mostly sci fi, some fantasy and horror). I am trying to read more nonfiction/essay-type stuff, though, one I just finished I really enjoyed is Death By Landscape by Elvia Wick.
2. What's a book you've been meaning to read, but haven't?
*strained laughter in 72-strong TBR*
3. What's a book you read recently that lived up to your expectations?
Becky Chambers - A Prayer For The Crown-Shy. I goddamn adore Becky Chambers I goddamn adore Monk & Robot I want more, please.
4. What's a book that failed to be as good as you hoped?
Helen Oyeyami - Peaces. I feel the ending didn't hit right.
5. What's your favourite book? (No cheating. One.)
Lord of the Rings. There are a lot of books I goddamn love but Lord of the Rings has owned my soul since I was eleven years old.
6. What's your least favourite book?
Ooh man, not sure any titles come to mind? Definitely read some in uni that did not hit right.
7. Do you prefer hardback, paperback, audios, or ebooks? Why?
ebooks, since I am Weak and have trouble holding heavier books I know I know. My ebook collection is substantially larger than my hard copies. I do buy and keep paperbacks of books I really love, though, and have a few hardcovers of special editions (like my Alan Lee-illustrated anniversary versions of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings).
8. Who's an author you discovered recently and like?
Uh, define 'recently'? Only discovered Tamsyn Muir and Becky Chambers in... 2019-2020, I think, and they both rocketed up to near the top of my favourites, though.
9. What's a genre you're hoping to try more?
Weird Fiction. I dig the idea.
10. What type of book is "your thing"? E.g. are you a romcom reader, a sad book reader, a fantasy reader, a classics reader?
Speculative. Mostly sci fi, can definitely get behind fantasy and horror. Weird would come under this, I think!
11. What's a book a friend recommended that you like?
I think it was Sin who got me onto Locked Tomb, and oh man am I glad :D
12. What's a book a friend likes that you don't?
A lot! But that's okay! We all like different things!
13. Any bookish goals for 2022?
Read 35 books. Averages out to just under three a month. According to Storygraph I'm behind, but I am counting longer zines and stuff that aren't listed, so I'm actually on 23, not 16.
14. What way do you organize your bookshelf? (By colour, author last name, genre, title, etc.)
By genre, then author and height. Like it'd generally be by height but I keep stuff by the same author together. Drove me up the goddamn wall when the last Wayfarers (The Galaxy, and the Ground Within) came out and the book was over an inch taller than the rest. And Harrow is taller than Gideon. (Bookwise only. Not in actual height XD) Not only that, but one is glossy and the other matte! Look at this! Look at this!

You are right, I am 5'7, and trust me I feel like I tower over 99 percent of women in a room and most of the men are almost equal to my height or just one inch or 2 taller than me. So there is no way Harry is short.
one of my exes was exactly harry's height, another was even taller. i'm taller than the average woman, not a model but not short either and the way these men towered over me .. lord have mercy. there's absolutely no way anyone could ever call them tiny, not even someone taller than that. it's just their whole built and presence

Raccoon Reviews: Burrow Nomad Sofa! • Furniture Reviews
Tumblr media
Block Nomad Sofa, $1799+ on Burrow official website
Now, I've seen a lot being said about Burrow furniture. It's snazzy, it's expensive, it comes in pieces! Y'know what else comes in pieces? My now broken ass. No amount of fluffy tail can help make this godforsaken thing comfortable or worth the money.
I have had a Burrow Nomad sofa for nearly 3 years now, and I can confirm it's absolute ass.
The following are my grievances in no particular order:
Cushions do NOT retain shape. After 4 months, there were ass-sized dents in all of them, both sides.
Cushions, also, ARE ALL DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS. I got the chaise add on, and you'd think it would make sense to make it so you can swap out two cushions for the long chaise cushion when not in use, right? Wrong. The dimensions are off. It's too long and narrow to do that.
Storing the cushions is a nightmare. Where tf do I put the leftover cushions when I swap to the chaise? They don't fit under the sofa. They don't fit on or under the ottoman. I hope your tiny apartment had fantastic closet space, or you're fucked with trying to store the pieces not in use.
The butt cushions slide off. Like. So fast. I'll lean back once and the whole cushion has moved off by 4 inches.
If you use the back cushions that come with it, it's a VERY shallow sofa. Barely any space to lean back, let alone with throw pillows. I took them off and use some comfy big pillows, but it's still narrow as shit.
God forbid you try to move the sofa without taking it fully apart first. It's become so wobbly and loose in the joints that it's coming apart with each sit. I get the schtick, easy to move and all that, but holy fuck. I tried moving it across my living room and it was so wobbly when I sat back down that my cat freaked out at its shaking. Only plus side to its wobbly ass is that if you have uneven floors, that's no issue! You also have an uneven sofa.
The height of it is VERY short, especially since the cushions deflate within 6 months of use. Fine for some people, but I am taller than average and my knees are up to my chest when I don't use furniture risers. Also, no way to store anything under it but small cat toys.
There are no options for higher furniture legs and changing them is a nightmare because the legs are part of what keeps the sofa "together."
The charging port is a fine idea, but it's in the most inconvenient place and the cord to plug it into the wall is too short. I gave up and just... used the extension cord I needed to plug the thing into the wall.
Honestly? It's just not comfortable. Even if the cushions weren't completely useless after a few months, the way it's put together means that you have hard spots every 2-ish feet. It hurts your back, your butt, your legs, and it forces you to slide to those places because the cushions are ass and get so flat at the edges.
The sleeper add-on is also shitty. The memory foam does make the sofa marginally more comfortable, but because it's made for ease, it's a thin piece of foam that I honestly could have gotten at Joann fabrics for less money and higher quality. It's also, say it with me, Too Small. The dimensions are about 2 inches shorter on all sides, and the sheets and stuff are fine but cheap as hell along with the "quilt" and pillow. Again, it is not wide enough!! My skinny ass father had to last minute get a hotel because when he tried to stay over, he fell off 3 times. And the topper slid off. And the blankets were too small. And the pillow was flat. It's not even comfortable for napping unless you can curl up onto a single cushion because of the stupid hard areas where the sections meet.
Aesthetically, it's like... fine? But it's not cute enough to excuse even one of these complaints, let alone the price.
Also, "scratch and stain resistant" my ASS. This thing looks disgusting, resists every ounce of OxiClean I've put on it, and took a month of wear and tear from cats before it started literally bursting at the seams. The seams in the corners are all open now, at least 6 inches long in most areas, with fluff and foam on the verge of pouring out, and it looks ugly as shit. Plus, it can't be hidden since the weave of the fabric is so huge. It just makes bigger and bigger gaps, and fixing it is a nightmare. I'd have to hand sew new fabric on over it just to close the holes.
All in all, I've found more comfortable furniture on the side of the road.
Burrow sofas would barely be worth it for a third of the price. It is not durable, it is not cute, and it is not comfortable. It's literally coming apart at the seams.
The only reason you should get this couch is if you're absolutely insane about taking care of your furniture, never move it or sit on it, and like to suffer when you do. The only reason I got this couch was because it was a gift I had no say in. The only reason I've kept this couch is because it was a hella expensive gift, my stairwell is too tiny for an actual sofa, and I don't make enough money to get a new one.
The only plus side is that it's light as fuck, so when I toss it to the curb it won't hurt my back:) no more than it already has, at least.
TLDR; -10/10. This is ass. Do not buy this.
***PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS SOFA. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT THEIR SITE. IT'S THE WORST SOFA I'VE EVER SAT ON, AND I HAD FRIENDS IN A FRAT.***
