🐺🐇 hybrid!steve x vampire!reader

You were laid under a tree, your back flush against Steve’s chest with a cream rose-printed blanket underneath you both. The sun streaked through the dancing leaves above you, the shadows joined in their tango as the snowdrops and daffodils swayed to their rhythm. You plucked daisies from an old wicker basket and threaded them into a chain as Steve read softly from one of his old books, the raspy tone of his voice mixed with the music that played quietly from your little white speaker.

You leaned your head back against Steve’s shoulder, your eyes falling shut as you soaked up the heat and sun streaks before grinning to yourself as you quickly pinched his inner thigh, slung the daisy chain into the basket and scrambled to your feet while giggling at his confused protest. You kicked dirt and leaves onto the blanket as you sprung into a sprint and made your way into the woodland.

‘’Yeah, you better run, little rabbit,’’ Steve called out after you as the swings snapped and leaves crunched under your quickened pace. ‘’You’re gonna regret it when I catch you!’’

‘’No cheating, Mr Wolf,’’ You sassily shouted back to him, melodic giggles were left in the wind as you continued your sprint.

This infodump will not cover vampirekins and that kind of discussion! This is focused on “irl-vampires” that aren’t inherently vampires spiritually or on a deeper level. This is an alterhuman ID but it isn’t inherently an otherkin identity, hence the tags! This’ll all become more clear as I go on!

What Is A Vampire?

TW: mention of blood

An individual who regularly requires blood/energy from external sources in order to remain healthy and functional. By functional I mean things like being able to think straight, go to work, connect with friends etc etc. Vampires become noticeably drained if they haven’t fed on either energy/blood for a period of time. Most report that they get drained after going 4-5 days without a Donor/Substitute others can go longer.

The community coined the term “vampire” purely because of the need to feed on external energy (in some way) in order to thrive. Not everyone within the community use the term vampire but a lot of us do.

How do I know I'm a Vampire?

As mentioned, the Vampire identity is attached to a need not derivative of another identity; generally humanoid, and generally expresses a Need. It is also important to note that you should’ve already explored medical reasons or possible things like an iron deficiency or various chronic disabilities.

This isn’t to say Vampires with iron deficiencies or chronic disabilities aren’t valid because there’s a medical reasoning to the identity, but it should be taken into account! I personally have both of what was mentioned above but there are also other mysterious things regarding my medical biology that have been discussed for years but are yet to be diagnosed or given an actual “reason”.

No one else can truly determine whether you are a vamp or not! It’s all about self discovery, self exploration and trial and error.

Types Of Vampires

Yes, it’s true. There are types of vampires depending on our feeding methods. So let’s go through the main ones:

Sanguinarian

TW: blood and meat

This is the type most imagine. Sanguinarian or "Sangs" are Vampires that get their external energy from blood. They require human or animal blood in order to maintain their health. I mentioned Donors before - Donors are people within the Vampire community who donate blood or energy to help our hunger. It is fully consensual and there are ways to do this safely in a clean environment with proper equipment (and testing of the blood before consumption). If Donors aren’t available, however, Sang Vampires may have substitutes like eating rare to medium-rare cooked meat.

Psychic/Psi

Psi or Psychic vampires feed off of energy from people or animals. This isn’t to be confused with the term “emotional vampire” or someone who drains energy from others easily or a psychic/spiritual attack. When it comes to Psi Vampires consent is ideal but it isn't always key. Most energy taken is from people completing their daily tasks in a public area.

Elemental

An elemental vampire is someone who feeds off of nature and the elements! Earth, water, air, and fire. Elemental feeding, depending on the element the vampire best resonates with, can be a lot simpler. They tend to also incorporate energy magicks and grounding to sustain the routine of feeding.

Hybrids

TW: mention of blood

Hybrids are able to feed from blood, energy or elements and are a very versatile type of vampire. Hybrids can have a preference in all the mentioned types of feeding but, essentially, they affectively feed in multiple ways.

Remember, we don’t CHOOSE how we feed. We don’t choose what sustains us, it simply happens.

General Q&A

Do we have powers?

IRL Vampires do not inherently have powers, no.

Allergic to the sun? Hate sunlight?

Not inherently! Many of us have a sensitivity to the sun/brightness but so do non-vampires.

Do you have fangs/sharp canines?

Again, no. Some folks naturally have pointy teeth ofc but not everyone does! My canines, for example, are literally not visible unless I reveal my top gums - they’re little stubs 😭

Do you age/ are you immortal?

Physically we aren’t immortal and we do not stay young. If you believe in reincarnation then… our spirits/souls live beyond our physical bodies. Some vampires may look younger though (some claim by about 10 years).

Do you hate garlic?

Me? I love garlic. But… you know, depends on the person.

Can I become a vampire?

This is debated within the community but the general consensus is no. You are born a vampire and go through an awakening/realization at some point.

Extra: A pretty quiet intervert, she doesn't interact with others much and doesn't trust easily. She's been a frequent guest at the Sowbelleau for a while now but mostly fades into the background. She's closest to Julie and Howdy. She also hides the fact that she's a hybrid. (Humans don't know she's half vamp and vamps don't know she's half human) (She got scar over her eye that blinded her while defending herself aginst a hunter, hince why she coveres the eye. The hunter was never seen or heard from again.)

Avea’s Freaky Fusion Diary - 07_10

Neighthan, Bonita, and I all went to the movies tonight. We invited Sirena, but she said she would see where the currents took her. At least she's consistently inconsistent. The movie was the last one Veronica von Vamp made before she returned to her life as Elissabat and took the throne as the queen of the vampires. Of course, she could always make another one; after all, what's the point of being the queen if you can't do what you want every now and again? It was fun, and I liked the theater. It has a standing room only section for those monsters that don't really fit into a standard-sized seat. After it was over, we went to the Die-ner to grab a late fright snack, but I guess every other monster must have had the same idea because we had to wait around a while for a table. While we were waiting, we heard two ghouls behind us talking about Monster High. They were exchange students of some sort, one was a lake monster from Rotland, and the other was a bigfoot from Monster Picchu. They were mostly talking to Neighthan, which was fine since he's genuinely friendly, and ghouls seem to think he's cute. I don't see it myself, but that's probably because I've known him for so long; he's more like a brother to me. I was actually wishing we were closer to this minotaur manster that was ahead of us in the line. He really made my wings flutter, but he was also with this sweet little cyclops ghoul, and you could tell they only had an eye for each other. We finally got seated, though, and our waitress was this vampire ghoul that tried to give us the wrong food twice, but she was so funny and apologetic about it that we had a hard time getting irritated at her. Neighthan said she was the daughter of Dracula, how he knew that I'm not sure, but like I said, he's much more friendly than the rest of us and probably just asked. Sirena finally came floating in after we were finished. She said that she had been exploring the catacombs and met another ghost named Spectra. "I totally lost track of time, and then I got distracted, and then I couldn't remember where I was supposed to be, so I just came here." She said. We all talked for a little while longer about our chances of being able to start at MH in the fall. "We're going to get in." Neighthan said, "I'm not worried at all." Bonita was worried, though, and she started chewing on the sleeve of her shirt as we were talking about it. I'm not worried as much about getting in as I am about fitting in. What if it's the same as every other school we've been to? I'm tired of being the odd monster out, and if they don't want us, then they can just have their stupid school. I don't care how great it is... deep breath Avea... deep breath. It might be the beast thing to ever happen... or possibly the worst. Maybe. I'll just cross my fingers and hope for something in the middle.
