almost never. he's been wearing the same hoodie for like six months and only replaces things once they need to be fixed, and even now that's rare because mu qing passive aggressively fixes his clothes for him

honestly, no. he's consistently ready to jump into action, and his clothes definitely reflect that. he could absolutely afford nicer clothes, he just... doesn't really care to do so. he's always dressed casually, at least by like... royal bodyguard and martial god standards, and that's likely never going to change

the amount of time beth spends getting ready depends on her plans for the day. when she was a nanny and student, she didn't have much time for make up and hair, and that has followed even now that she is teaching full time. she loves a messy bun.

beth definitely took a lot of notes from trends, before and after gaining her memories. the country girl wants to blend in in the big city. i think most people would say she dresses like every other bish.

beth does wear the heck out of her clothes, but she also LOVES to shop. she loves a good local boutique and a good thrift but shopping is more often recreation than it is her going out specifically to buy clothes.

i think living in a zombie apocalypse would make a person less likely to accessorize, but beth wore jewelry through it all. her accessory choices are much more aesthetically driven then they were in her old life, and much more minimal. dainty rings and necklaces. bracelets always.

day to day make up is usually some blush and mascara, so it doesn't take her very long. however, she does spend time on her nails. i hate ot say it, but this girl loves a bath bomb and a pampering day now and then. definitely does facemasks while she drinks coffee and plays guitar.

i don't think her style would change much, but her pieces would be more expensive.

she arrived in the city unaware and dressed pretty differently from the get go. when she arrived she believed she was a country girl going to college in a big city and made an effort to fit in. her personal style evolved a bit through the years in the city, and she definetly prefers the way she dresses now. back home, style wasn't a huge factor, but is was one joy beth tried to hold on to after the fall.

not at all. honestly, sophie takes roughly twenty minutes from shower to tying their shoes. part of that is based off necessity, with how hectic their life can be, the last thing she wants to think about is what she’s going to wear. but the other half is that howl takes so long to get ready that she, for whatever reasoning you want to give it, is the exact opposite. the longest thing about sophie’s routine besides showering is making sure the layers of her clothes aren’t all bunched up cause man does she hate that.

does your muse consider the way they dress to be trendy? would other people agree

no, definitely not. sophie is not out here trying to look trendy, they go for comfort and function over form every time. maybe other people would think their clothes are trendy in the like, light academia meets cozy vibes, but sophie absolutely does not think they are stylish. not that they care much about that.

sophie never buys new clothes. if it’s damaged, they will just mend it. they have all the pieces they like to wear, they don’t really see a need to keep buying more? if someone gives them a clothing item as a gift, they will keep it for forever. i think sophie is also a very like, conscious shopper, and only buys from like independent brands that she wants to support, or thrifts. or makes her own clothes. you won’t find them ever buying like fast fashion.

if you count the two pieces of jewelry howl has gifted them as accessorizing, then yes. but really, it’s a hard no. they wear their matching ring to howl, which they have moved to their left ring finger, and then the necklace howl enchanted. other than that, i think she probably has their septum pierced tbh, unaware sophie went and got it, and it’s like a very small silver hoop there, so she’s kept it. other than that, they wear hats sometimes, though not as much as they did back home, since it’s not really in style anymore.

no, definitely not. they are highkey pretty comfortable with how they dress now and really wouldn’t want to change it. they don’t really care much about the clothes they wear, not in the way that other people do, so i don’t think, even with all the money in the world, that they would change it

i don’t think so? they’ll definitely wear pieces again, especially sweaters, but not like a whole outfit, just cause they don’t like to feel dirty or anything. i think she’d be very on top of laundry so if they wanna wear something again, they’d just wait till it was out of the wash like two days from then.

i think sophie probably preferred their clothes from home at first, just because it was easier to follow. they knew the styles then, whereas here there’s so many different types of styles, it’s hard to keep up with. she does think clothes are more comfortable here, and that’s a big win, but i think it’s a mix? like they haven’t totally changed their style, but they’ve found a niche one that fits them better than their clothes from home. then again, they literally say, after turning into a 90 year old woman ‘at least your clothes finally suit you’ so like.... ????? maybe they just like dressing old. doesn’t matter where they go, they like dressing old. old people have way more comfortable clothes anyways.

* i’m so deadass , sophie does not use makeup/fancy skin care. they absolutely enchanted some dish soap to be perfect for their skin after complaining about howl’s 6 hour skin care routine and now can wash their face with dish soap and it works !!! really well !!!

oh yes! necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets. whatever looks good with her outfit she’ll throw it on.

yes. tara is unaware and right now, her outfits/wardrobe is less colorful than it used to be at home. i think she liked the way she used to dress more but it’s connected to the person she used to be before ghostface happened and it just doesn’t feel like her anymore. so now she’s finding her own way through her expression still, even while unaware.

absolutely not. toph has never cared much about her appearance for obvious reasons. there are times where she feels more self conscious than usual, but at the end of the day she’s never known what she looks like and that’s just something they live and deal with.

literally no clue. toph would say it’s trendy just because they assume they’re always going to be cool, but realistic she just doesn’t know. i would say for the vibe toph goes for it could definitely be seen as trendy/

rarely. toph will absolutely wear clothes until they’re falling apart and then finally admit she needs new ones.

not much. their hair is often up because vision or not the feeling of it on her neck is terrible and inconvenient, so sometimes there’s a headband or scrunchie, and toph will appreciate a hat here and there, but that’s usually it. there’s also the bracelet she made herself with meteor rock that toph wears all the time.

zero to none. toph washes their face before going to sleep, but sometimes that does just mean splashing some water on themselves and calling it a day.

maybe just a bit more similar to how they dressed back home. it’s hard for toph to find similar clothes here, which s the real problem though. money and confidence are certainly not stopping her.

toph wears stuff that’s more typical for washington rather than what she was wearing back home. it’s just easier to find, and honestly toph doesn’t mind the transition. there are a lot of comfortable clothes here, and since she isn’t fighting every day she doesn’t need to worry as much about wrapping herself

my added general description.

i made this edit pretty easily, and then got to these questions and lost my mind a little bit because, toph is obviously blind, and looks rarely concern her. toph knows how to make themselves look good, or at least societally acceptable, as a result of how she was born, but it’s not something toph cares about doing unless absolutely required. toph prioritizes comfort above all else, and being able to move easily in whatever she’s wearing. toph still does a decent amount of fighting and bending in the city, so full mobility is absolutely key. it’s mostly going to be a lazy girl vibe or workout clothes. toph is also particular to being bare footed so that she can use her earthbending on the ground, but since that’s not super acceptance she has shoes with the bottoms taken out, so it appears like they’re wearing shoes but the soles of their feet are still on the ground. toph tends to stick to greens and browns, not that she knows what they look like, but toph knows those are earth tones, and needs to represent her likes. she’s definitely sensitive to textures and sticks to simple cotton as much as possible. there is definitely some amount of tearing or dirt on just about all their clothes because of just how rough and tumblr they tend to be. it’s inevitable no matter how often things are washed.

it kind of depends on the day? chrissy isn't exactly the most high maintenance kind of person, so it really differs from day to day tbh - if she's making an effort maybe like an hour all in? with hair, makeup, getting dressed and just general things?? but if she's not, just like a half hour.

tbh, chrissy doesn't really care abt much of that? but most of the things chrissy wears are vintage, kind of like the things she wore at home, which are all coming back into fashion anyway, so maybe a little???? and again, she's not too bothered abt public opinion.

it really depends what kind of clothes tbh? clothes for dancing? yes, esp dance shoes, she's forever buying and replacing the ones that are worn down and aren't in the best shape anymore. but with clothes, it's different, she likes to shop pretty sustainably by going to thrift stores and not buying from big fast fashion brands?? she def keeps outfits until they're no longer wearable.

yeah, she does def accessorise a fair amount - chrissy has a rotation of jewellery that she really likes to wear when she's not dancing.

Well it's more modern. It did take him a little bit of time to get used to it. Find what his style was. But now he's found what he likes.

style falls somewhere in between academic and eclectic, almost all of the clothes she owns were thrifted in some way or another, has enough pairs of overalls to fill an entire closet and would fight anyone who tries to tell her they’re not in style, also a big fan of different styles of loafers, typically doesn’t wear a lot of jewelry unless she’s trying to dress up more, very much the type of person who can throw things on in a few seconds and still manage to look effortless. 

though costume concerns are a thing of the past with october turning to november, many people in the city still wind up worrying about what they look like every single day they go out. it’s all too easy to say that looks don’t matter when thinking about yourself or a friend, but for many people a glimpse of someone’s outfit as they pass them by on the street may be the only way they know this person at all. as fall pushes on into the lull of winter it just makes sense to take advantage of the slower times and reflect on how you look each and every day. who knows, maybe you’ll come to the early decision to completely reinvent yourself next year, at least on the outside anyway.

with fall and the cold in full swing we wanted to give you all a nice little task to work on! this will be similar to tasks we’ve done in the past in terms of what you have to do, but with a different focus to mix things up and keep everything fresh. there are so many wonderful aspects about everyone’s muses to learn about, and this time around we will be focusing in on your muses outfits and how they dress themselves!

-similar to the task focused on muses’ homes, this task will include two parts, a visual aesthetic/edit and a written part. though there is a lot of freedom with both aspects we’d love to see you implement some form of both of them when doing the task!

- the visual aspect should be some sort of graphic that includes several pictures that give an idea of how your muse dresses from day to day. this graphic can be done however you’d like! if you’d like to provide nine pictures in a moodboard format that would be great or you are of course welcome to find a fun template to work with for this. some starting template ideas can be found here: x, x, x, and x. if you need any help with getting an idea for how to format things or finding a template don’t hesitate to reach out to the main!

not a ton? they’re someone who has a pretty erratic sleep schedule, so if she’s up early yeah she’ll spend thirty or so minutes getting ready, but they are also completely and totally capable of putting a nice outfit together in under five minutes if that becomes necessary (it’s necessary more often than she cares to admit and they will deny this skill to their last breath)

does your muse consider the way they dress to be trendy? would other people agree

kind of, yeah. they’re doing her best to fit in in the modern world, and did absolutely read a decent amount about trends and fashion, and is pretty sure she’s managed it to some degree. and i think most would agree, they dress pretty cool most of the time

how often do they buy new clothes? are they the type to keep a outfit for years or replace it after one wear?

they buy new clothes when something is ripped beyond repair, and never any other time. she’s pretty frugal, and honestly, after their imprisonment and then their stay in the burial mounds, buying new clothes at all feels like a privilege, even if most of it is thrifted

maybe a little bit, like a necklace or a belt, definitely fishnets sometimes because they think they’re fun, but nothing too intense. they’re working a lot of days, and you can’t have a ton of jewelry on as a hospital intern, and she also just isn’t super into rings and bracelets and all that. not their style

probably like half an hour max? she doesn’t wear a ton of makeup, just a little eyeliner and mascara and something on her lips, and the extent of their skin care is moisturizer and a shower, maybe a face mask once in a blue moon when they’re incredibly stressed

she might have more formal clothing if they could afford it? not that she really prefers that style, but they don’t mind it and knows it’s sometimes necessary, but they’re generally pretty happy with their more casual wardrobe

probably not the entire outfit, but would definitely repeat a shirt or pair of shorts if there was no chance of anyone noticing, especially if they’re behind on laundry that week (she’s usually at least a little behind on laundry wen qing is not good at domestic tasks)

one hundred percent. even the colors they wear are different, there’s still a lot of red, but there’s also a lot of black and blue, and pretty much at least a little of every color, especially with the fact that denim makes up a solid half of her wardrobe. she likes these clothes a lot better, there’s a lot less formality and she doesn’t feel as... i guess dressed up? restricted? as they did in their wen robes back home

chris isn't the type to throw on the first thing his hands touch in the closet, but he doesn't put much thought into things. as long as there's a general sense of things matching, he's good to go. i think he does have an affinity for cooler jackets, so his layering might be something he spends a bit more time on in the morning.

i don't think this dummy is even present enough to know what is 'trendy' here. other's might say some of his outfits are trendy, though.

very rarely will chris go out of his way to buy new things without a purpose. he starts working, he gets new clothes. but he's not the type to buy clothes just cause.

i think the silly little cuffs he wore when he went back to save wyatt lend to the idea of him accessorizing a little bit, but again, its mostly functional (watches). he does still wear bianca's engagement ring on a chain around his neck.

his hair requires a bit of styling, but more often than not the scruff he's started to grow since being in dc is due to the fact he's gotten tired of shaving so often.

he'd maybe buy less second hand but i don't think his style would change. he'd still be focused on other things.

he doesn't dress much differently than he did than when he went back in time to save wyatt. very similar things are available. there is a bit more of a contemporary interpretation of his style when he was living in the early 2000s.

i would say tatum spends like a moderate amount of time getting ready, though she’s a big like ‘nighttime outfit planner’ so she doesn’t have to really think in the morning. she just gets everything ready at night, and then will just have to do her makeup and curl the ends of her hair and call it a day.

back home ?? absolutely tatum would have considered herself trendy. here though, she’s probably not like the trendiest person, she sort of sticks to the outfits she’s comfortable with. she also sees all of these like “90s” fashion being in style again and is like “this isn’t accurate”

tatum definitely buys clothes like pretty regularly, but not like a lot at once? she just will buy a like cute top or some pants she likes when she sees them rather than waiting to do a lot of shopping at once? she doesn’t really clean out her closet all that often though, so it does get pretty full.

tatum definitely wears like a couple accessories but nothing super major. she will wear like some fun socks, or have a nice purse? but she isn’t super big into jewelry. she definitely wears sunglasses every day though and has a bunch of pairs of them.

probably a little more than average? she definitely spends like 30-40 minutes getting ready in the morning and then just idk i think tatum likes to feel good verse like fully looking super hot. she just likes that to come more naturally than just forcing it

probably a little more comfortable? like i think tatum would wear more like sweatpants or like lounge sets out in the world if she didn’t have like an expectation in her mind of looking put together.

like she’s definitely started dressing a little more with the times and a little less like very 90′s. she also lived in california her entire life so she’s started dressing warmer in the winters and stuff. but otherwise it’s mostly the same, or at least similar vibes ?? she still loves cropped tops and all that. just likes dressing in what she likes

i’d like to think clara spends a reasonable amount of time getting ready. she likes to make herself presentable, do her hair, apply her make-up that, sort of thing. she is definitely the type that showers in the morning too so on those days it definitely adds time. but she also is the type to plan her outfit for the next day, the night before.

i don’t think other people would call clara’s style trendy, but i think clara would consider her style trendy. not because she thinks she has great style, but because clara most definitely shops at like target and old navy and like large generic retail stores so if it’s ‘in-style’ enough to be at one of those stores then she considers that to be like... trendy. although, she does put her own spin on things, she has a whole drawer filled with collars she can add under shirts & sweaters. she is the collar queen.

not very often, clara buys clothes that will last for a reason. i feel like she got into the habit of also bulk buying clothes, aka if she likes one sweater she’ll get it in a bunch of different colors and that way if one got ruined while she was on another planet...she had another one back at home. and that thinking probably didn’t stop when she came to washington.

clara loves a good collar, and like i said before she has a drawer full of them. i think they add her own personal touch to her outfits and makes it feel like more of an expression of herself, and also kind of became her like ‘staple’ piece. but she does wear some small jewelry, with wear a hat every now and then. but she’s not one to go over the top or try anything crazy.

how much time do they spend on skin care/makeup/grooming?

clara loves a good bath & a book, but other than that she doesn’t spend too much time. she keeps her make up pretty minimal and light and at this point has a routine down for it that it probably doesn’t take her too long. she has a shower schedule that she sticks to very rigidly and probably has a box full of those $1 face masks that she’ll throw on from time to time to feel special.

depending on the outfit, yes. she has and doesn’t mind repeating outfits but she also is someone who would iron a sweater before wearing it because it has a crease from being folded or something. so if her clothes got wrinkled, she wouldn’t wear it again unless she could tidy them up a bit. but if it’s just like a sweatshirt & jeans she’ll re-wear those probably multiple days if she can stretch it out that long.

I would say that clara has started dressing a bit differently but only because her wardrobe has gotten a revamp in the sense that what she used to wear was ‘in fashion’ in like 2015 and so now she is more so wearing outfits that are in fashion in this year. but i think this transition is happening slowly, because she still wears outfits that look like something you pinned on the first day of starting your pinterest in your peak swiftie tumblr girl phase.
