there has been a calm over the streets of washington since halloween. an easy winter, with a simple valentine’s day, a whole season without any sorts of issues may have lulled the city residents into a sense of peace. unfortunately peace never lasts forever in a city like this, and the calm unawareness that keeps people calm now will only leave them vulnerable in the end.
it comes to them at night, knowledge that citizens wake up with out of the blue. a face and a name of someone else living in the city, and people just know by some form of magic in the city that it's a target, someone they have to take out. the city doesn't fill them with the malicious unnatural rage of other chaotic moments, but it gives them more knowledge, unavoidable consequences if they don't comply. it's kill or get killed, and if people don't get rid of their targets by the deadline the city will kill them instead. do you become a killer, stalking your prey in the middle of the night, or do you try and stay peaceful, even knowing what will happen to you as a result? and what of your own safety? after all, you woke up with someone else's face in your mind. who's to say someone else didn't wake up thinking of you?
TLDR; washington has been quiet from bloodshed for several months. it isn’t rare for the city to inspire something murderous within it’s citizens but this time it’s different. a city wide game of assassin, but with stakes far greater than the sort of game you’d play in school. everyone involved knows their target, knows that if they don’t succeed they’ll face the consequences, and knows that someone else is almost certainly trying to get the kill on them. will they be able to take out their target before it’s too late? or will they be unable to bring themselves to murder, even knowing the potential consequences?
OOC INFORMATION:
hello friends! we know it's been a little while since washington has had any proper chaos, so we're here to provide! we're so excited to bring you another slice of chaos to have some fun with! with the opportunity for both murder as well as some ooc speculation and paranoia. this is a fun chance to make characters unaware, stress everyone out, and even lightly betray your friends! please read on for all of the rules and information surrounding the event and please as always have fun friends! we hope you have a fun time and don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions ♥

this event will last the same amount of time ic and ooc
THE GAME:
loosely based off of the assassin game often played in high school all characters are given a target to kill. with the magic of washington characters involved just woke up on the start of the event knowing who their target was.
they also know that if they don’t kill their target by the end of the event they themselves will die. characters don’t know how this will happen but they’re certain it’s true. the admins will keep track of targets and who succeeds in their task, and make sure that the promised punishment happens at the end of the event.
there is no magic making characters suddenly murderous, just the knowledge that it’s kill or be killed, and if they wish to save themselves they will have to kill someone else
THE TARGETS:
due to the nature of the event we will be individually dming people with their character’s involved and the targets of those characters. KEEP THIS SECRET
part of the fun of this event is not knowing who is targeting your character. anyone you submitted for the event has the chance of being a victim and you don’t know what thread that might happen in
we will send out targets a few days after this is posted. if you no longer wish for your character to be involved in the event now that you know the details please reach out to us promptly so we can remove them from the list
THE MURDERS:
though usually these are more preplotted, these murders will operate a little bit closer to how they did in the murder mystery event. if your character is a potential murder subject they can be killed off in any thread without warning
with that being said it’s not really any fun if people are just murdered immediately, so please try and wait until there are a few notes on the thread before jumping in to kill your target
also, do your best to keep up replies to all of your threads. obviously it can be easier to reply to preplotted threads, but in this instance if you'd like the fun of potentially getting your character murdered you will have to make sure to keep up with random threads as well
in addition, since murders cannot be preplotted please do not do anything too extreme in killing someone else’s character. we will be providing a list of hard no's for all written murders based on the triggers submitted in the poll so make sure you don't cross those lines!
any character submitted as a target can be killed by normal means. if they are usually overpowered and only able to die in specific ways the magic will nullify that for the length of the event
things will also be different than normal in that we will insist a certain amount of threads be kept chronological. if you get a surprise reply that your character is murdered in you can no longer finish a thread of your character killing their target. any other previous threads started can still be finished, but it’s kill or be killed and your character cannot do both
when someone is killed the person they are targeted is freed from the curse and no longer has to complete their murder to survive. for example, if adam has to kill charlie and charlie has to kill lute, if adam is killed before charlie completes her murder she no longer has to kill lute. of course, if you’re well into your murder thread by the time this happens you’re welcome to finish it up, however this does give some people the opportunity of an out, should they have a lot of characters in the mix, or some who may have a hard time with murder. we will do our best to keep people properly updated with this so you are aware if you can safely drop your murder thread.
there will be a channel in the discord to send character deaths as soon as they're done, please make sure to keep it updated!
the usual rules regarding a character’s memory status still applies here. if your character is killed their memory status will change though we will update the pages once the entire event is over.
THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
characters who were not submitted can of course still get themselves involved. like most murder events the city is in a state of disarray, as people are dropping quickly, and there is violence in the streets. feel free to say your character is out trying to hide and take care of themselves or is out helping other people.
you are welcome to get creative with it. if your character isn’t the sort to murder but they have a close connection who is they can always outsource in order to kill their target, the system can be cheated. it doesn't care who does the murder as long as the target winds up dead, just make sure this plotting is being done very quietly!
HOUSEKEEPING:
please make sure to tag all event threads hwevent17!
you will receive your targets over dm on discord from either admin maig or admin sunny, most likely a mix of the two of them. in order to make sure admins can have some fun with this event as well we are splitting up the groups of targets and victims in order to keep our own characters secret. in order to keep these secrecy as tight as possible we will not be sending out targets via the main!
though we highly encourage everyone to prioritize their event threads we will not be pausing regular threads during the event. we know that these sort of chaotic events are not everyone's sort of thing, so if you're more comfortable regular threads can be continued during this time.
make sure to tag all triggers! obviously this is one of the more violent events and we want you all to be able to have fun with it but make sure to keep the dash a safe space for everyone! you can find a list of our triggers here!
feel free to begin plotting now! we recommend waiting on full starter calls until targets are sent out so you can make sure to get whatever threads you need while staying sneaky, but you're welcome to begin plotting whenever you like!

My closest friends are Gilbert, Antonio, and Feliciano. I've known them for ages, and we're all interconnected like one big family 🥰
Antonio is married to Feliciano's brother, Lovino; and Feli is married to Gilbert's brother Ludwig! I do not think Lovino is my biggest fan, but he's quite the grump, so I try not to take it personally. He and Arthur get along, as do Arthur and Ludwig, they're good pals!
I wouldn't say there's any animosity coming from me towards anyone, as long as Arthur agrees, everyone is welcome in our home! 💗
There is one person with whom the relationship is somewhat complicated, though I wouldn't want to say strained. Gilbert's husband Roderich, who also happens to be Antonio's ex.
I will admit even I think he is handsome, witty, and talented - just not my type. He can be a bit stuck up and uptight, he thinks everyone is jealous of him and that he is above the rest of us, so he doesn't spend much time socializing with the group. It's a shame, he is one of us!
I actually think Roderich and I have some things in common, we're both pretty and we share many interests, but he is not as carefree and relaxed as me. If he were, we'd be better friends. Gilbert just needs to screw that stick out of his arse a little harder 🤭

S/o and the nations has been dating for a while, but unbeknowst to them, s/o is the personification of their capital. One day s/o tells them this. Reaction? (Would like the allies or if that don’t work then; Russia, Sweden, America, England, Germany)
America/Alfred F. Jones
His immediate reaction is surprise and delight. He's absolutely overjoyed knowing that time is not limited with you like it would be with a human partner. However, the excitement would give way to just about a hundred questions. How did he not know? How long have you been around? Whatever the answer - Alfred would be thrilled.
England/Arthur Kirkland
Arthur's knee jerk reaction is suspicion. If you've been a personification all this time, why didn't you mention it? He's a little hurt you never shared that with him or sought him out before, although it's unlikely he would express that. There's going to be many many in depth discussions on how, when, why, and where. Not to say he wouldn't be happy about the situation of course. Getting to avoid the death of a loved one is of course a huge relief for him.
France/Francis Bonnefoy
Francis is simultaneously shocked and overwhelmed. He is overwhelmingly relieved. His partner will be around much longer than the average human, and being as so he has experienced heart break with a human before -- it's a wonderful feeling to know he might have a partner forever. He would definitely need a moment to process things before giving an initial reaction, but then would immediately pull you to him for a much needed embrace.
Canada/Matthew Williams
Matthew is silent. A little too silent. There's a lot of things he wants to say and somehow he doesn't have the muster to choke any of them out. Obviously he is happy, but mostly he's wondering how this hadn't been brought up before. He would probably cozy up to you a bit, just for some closeness before eventually spewing a mountain of questions. Overall, his reaction would be supportive and relatively calm, but trust that the joy in his eyes is extremely noticeable.
Russia/Ivan Braginsky
Ivan is overjoyed. He is thrilled to know this person who he has let down his walls for won't be lost to a difference in life span. He is mildly curious and may have a handful of questions, but ultimately is more focused on the fact that your time together has just extended exponentially in his eyes. He has all the time in the world to ask you anything he may want to know.
China/Yao Wang
Yao is happy with the news, but also a little angry. It wasn't an explicit lie, but it wasn't telling the truth either. You're the capital of his nation, and you didn't seem to feel the need to let him know that? While a little indignant at first, he will eventually calm down to be very satisfied in knowing there is a personification who is almost as old as he is, and a partner who he can spend the rest of his very long lifespan with.

#2 : Today wasn't very interesting, i did try and make something but i ended up alnost burning my house down..well that was a very unlucky day! I managed to just make myself some Smørbrod because Norway recommended it to me a while back, it was yummy!
#3 : Denmark visited me today, not sure why but he just barged in while i was feeding Snow saying that he wants to hang out..i know that my land is technically his too but still- he can't just break down my door and just say "HEY GREENIE! WATCHA' UP TO??" ! But at least he got me a new door, it was actually a really nice day actually!

with the last year being potentially the bloodiest yet for all those entrapped within the city, the cheer of the new year, a fresh start and some hope for improvement is exactly what everyone needs. though it's certainly hard to put any stock in hope for a peaceful year in this city. and while the galas held at the white house have a mixed history of success, and an unfortunate history of tragedy, the ones that go over well tend to be incredible mood lifters. a masquerade ball is always a hit, and they will be going all out to help everyone forget the horrors the last year has held, and to wipe away the stain of last valentine's day's bloody nightmare.
to change it up a bit, those in charge have decided that, rather than hosting the event at the white house, they are going to be hosting a fundraiser for the smithsonian museum. invitations are sent out to the entire city, beautiful pale pink and silver cards detailing the location and date of the masked ball being held. bring your beloved, your best friend, or sign up for a blind date if you're feeling a bit adventurous! the museum is decked out, lit entirely by strings of lights and candles, the entire place turned into a hall of mirrors decorated in pinks and reds, with roses falling from the ceiling and and covering the tables. to entertain the guests, there's a photo booth with various props and backdrops, professional photographers roaming the area, live music, and plenty of food and drink for everyone. hopefully this will be a suitable close to an otherwise disastrous year, and a way for everyone to forget their troubles for a while.
tldr ; almost as a thank you for those who have stuck through the nightmares that have come with living in washington, those in charge have put together another gala, an evening of nothing but dancing and fun to try and lighten the spirits of the citizens as we continue on in this new year. those who have signed up for a blind date will be finding out their partner from their invitation and we hope to see everyone there in their valentine's day best!
OOC INFORMATION
hi friends !!! welcome to another hidden mini event !!! we've somehow already had 5 of them and we are so excited to bring you our 6th one !! we wanted to mix things up a bit, bring you guys a different element to a classic rp ball event with these blind dates so we hope you all took advantage of that if you wanted to participate! we are so excited to get this moving and see how all the drama unfolds from inside the museum walls! we hope you all enjoy this as much as we did putting it together ♥
DATES
it will run from feb 10th - feb 21st
this event will last eleven days ooc , but one night in character
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE BALL
a basic layout of the smithsonian : we will be using the museum of natural history for this event! the main gala will be held on the first floor, the rotunda being used as the dance floor, the rest of the museum is still open to those in attendance, your characters are free to explore all that it has to offer, from the dinosaurs, to the live butterflies, to the night sky exhibit-- please feel free to use this map to help you navigate the setting! there is also a ton of information on the smithsonian website about each exhibit!
food and drink : free food, an open bar, candy bowls and sweets available to everyone! any valentine's treat you can think of has been sourced and provided for all to enjoy!
dancing : of course this is a gala, so go wild during a faster number, or finally extend an invitation to someone special to dance to one of the slower songs. request songs from the band and enjoy in every way you can!
outfits : dress to impress, wear that gown you’ve been eyeing for far too long, don your best masquerade mask, find your best suit, whatever fits your style best. and feel free to post outfits and looks now if you so please!! we'd love to see what everyone wears!!
get creative : this is just a new setting, with something new to work with! you do not have to adhere to any real guidelines, beyond 'remember the rules of the rp'. so if you wanna do something really off the wall, maybe dm an admin. otherwise, there's more guests than agents and security, if you wanna try to ride that t-rex skeleton, just make sure your date is keeping watch!
most of all, have fun : we want this to be a creative outlet, so please, if there is something that you think could be at this ball, be it a game, food, etc, we’re open to it !! also, feel free to have your characters make up their own drama, to go a little wild, cut loose !! just keep it within the realm of possibilities, we don’t want anyone escorted out before the party has really begun!

feel free to have your characters begin talking about the invitations, the excitement, or asking people to go with them if they are not going on a blind date! so, feel free to begin plotting and getting everything sorted for when the event begins!
please tag all posts (in character , out of character , para , etc ) with hwminievent6, or with "valentine's ball", "valentine's gala", something to indicate that those threads are taking place in the mini event, since people will be doing both event and regular threads!
please please remember to still tag all triggers that may apply!!
