Okay, I've been looking through HTTYD, both books and TV version, and then I decided to search something.
Why aren't there any Hiclegs content? Platonic, romantic, either! It's right there for the gays to cheer about right there in the books, to tag fanart, because Fishlegs and Hiccup hold hands, they danced with each other, what more do you want? You want LGBTQ+? Look at the HTTYD books! It's right there for the taking! Hiccup and Fishlegs seem kinda gay for each other, and we can just throw Camacazi in for a Threesome!

Talking about The Murderbot Diaries TV adaptation and the books with a wiser person than me and they said it would be lovely if the fandom/s could be like the How To Train Your Dragon fandom/s
There are books, there’s a TV series and there are films
People can be fans of any and/or all of the above
The books and the TV show/films are completely different
The fans appear to be mutually respectful of the different iterations and are happy that others enjoy the series
They don’t seem to have a culture where one iteration is regarded as “the right one”
I realise there are probably pockets of dissent in the How To Train Your Dragon fandom/s, but I’m glad they are there as an example of how it can be done…

I feel like live action often doesnt work cause we have preconceived ideas of the characters
instead, what they should be doing is live action in the same universe but different stories and characters and thats why star wars works really well but also detective pikachu (im dead serious)
and live action disney movies work well because they're redoing the older ones who have had their time
so making live actions of shows like atla and httyd arent getting the same support cause its too recent

This is Not CoD related, but infact having to do with the HTTYD live action that's coming out.
More specifically one problem that I'm seeing almost IMMEDIATELY and I hate it so I'm going to talk about it
Ok Before I actually get into it I want to preface with this: Not everyone is going to agree with me, some people might even think I'm incredibly wrong. And that's okay because this is my opinion and you have yours, and I, infact, am not saying that you have to take my opinion as fact
Anyway! SO the HTTYD live action has started filming. There's been talk about it for years, I'll be honest, I never really thought it would happen. Especially not this soon after the third movie.
Whether I'm excited for this film or not is yet to be seen. On one hand I definitely don't believe anything could top the original. And live actions are not always the best remake, especially for animated movies like this one. But on the other hand they DO have Dean Deblois back, and they've kept the original actor for Stoick, so at least we'll recognize one voice. Also I have high hopes for the soundtrack, since John Powell will be back. But again I'm still skeptical about the movie.
What I really wanted to talk about is, I just saw a tiktok talking about the movie (TT user: Straw Hat Goofy), I don't really have much to say about the video itself, it was good informationally. But I wanted to talk about the comments.
So as was stated in the video and confirmed officially, Actress: Nico Parker will be cast to play Astrid. Fine, dandy, lovely, I see no problem. Apparently not everyone thinks this way...

Not the only reason I can see people actually complaining about the casting of Nico parker is (apparently) blatant racism.
Like I understand that the original movies Astid was a blue-eyed, blonde haired girl, but I don't think this slight change should be that big of a deal. If her acting is shit, historically, she wouldn't have been cast. And her appearance (especially something she CANNOT change about herself) WILL NOT make or break the movie.
Let me repeat that
NICO PARKER'S SKIN COLOR WILL NOT MAKE THE MOVIE SHITTY
Guys, this is the same thing that happened/is happening with the Percy Jackson series, people objected to Leah Jeffries being casted as Annabeth. But Leah is a phenomenal actor, and in my opinion, is the perfect actress for the role.
If you really have a problem with Astrid not looking like she did in the animated movies then DON'T WATCH the live action. Simple as that. Ignorance is bliss in this case, so be blissful. It's 2024 people are dying, people are living, and people still can't change the color of their skin (nor should they have to (or want to, especially if it's only to fit society) even if they could)

i'm thinking about the other people who get extremely invested in children's tv shows that i don't get extremely invested in. the people who've seen all the kung fu panda tv series like i've seen all the how to train your dragon tv series. the people who've seen all of monster high like i've seen all of ever after high. the people who've seen all of the fairly odd parents like i've seen all of phineas and ferb.
what drew them to those series? was it the same things that drew me to mine? how'd we both end up watching children's tv, but different types of it? if they're a child, what makes them like the show? if they're an adult, what makes them like the show?
anyway if you like a kids tv show tell me the show and tell me why

Rewatching HTTYD 2 and RTTE made me realize how badly they fucked everyone over in HTTYD 3. Like. Did they just look at all their character development and go “Yeah, we can flush this down the drain”, or

It's SO bad#I mean arguably the characterization in HTTYD 2 needs work as well but like.#We got the MAJORITY of the character development in the TV series so it's fair they can't really express all of that in the films#But like. Even the difference between 2 and 3. They reduced all the dragon riders to be comedic relief#And it makes me SO sad#Especially Snotlout and Fishlegs#And don't even get me STARTED on how they totally bungled Valka's character#Lies down#Thinking about HTTYD 3 makes me so angry. God dammit.#They had ONE JOB#Putting aside all of my regular complaints about 3 there's still SO much more that's wrong with it#Grinding my teeth banging on the walls pulling my hair out etc#HTTYD#Sorry lmao just. Watching the first two films and the series really puts things into perspective of how bad the third film is#I cannot. I cannae#How To Train Your Dragon
