To celebrate one full month of Unreal Unearth I want to highlight some songs of his that I love and are highly underrated! Mostly songs that didn’t make it into full albums.

In no particular order:

From those first three you can see I like a song with a dark, kinda spooky vibe, (add these to you fall vibes/spooky/Halloween playlists IMMEDIATELY) and swan upon Leda I think is a really good example of hozier’s ability to mix a really gorgeous sound with an important political message about gender and sexuality.

My lover's got humor She's the giggle at a funeral Knows everybody's disapproval I should've worshiped her sooner:

The way that Crowley is, as a demon, seen as the bad guy. That that's what his image is supposed to be and taking it from like the demon's and the angel's pov, Aziraphale finds that intriguing. (he does but not in the way that the angels/demons are thinking). The Aziraphale sees Crowley isn't the fact that he's evil and like he's bad but he finds that the way he bends the rules, or does what is seen more as morally good. That's the part that Aziraphale likes and that's what Crowley's evil his to him. (This probably sounds like nonsense but like stick w me here)

If the Heavens ever did speak She's the last true mouthpiece Every Sunday's getting more bleak A fresh poison each week "We were born sick", you heard them say it:

I think that this can be seen either way, either how they were going to execute Aziraphale for being w Crowley or as Crowley being casted down to hell because she was not worthy or good enough to be an angel. Heaven saw the two of them as poison.

My church offers no absolutes She tells me, "Worship in the bedroom" The only Heaven I'll be sent to Is when I'm alone with you:

I think this could be applied to both of them but it resonates more with Crowley because like "my church offers no absolutes" is like saying that "Heaven doesn't actually know a good or evil, they only see things in black and white" but the gray that Crowley sees is that "The only Heaven I'll be sent to / Is when I'm alone with you" That Aziraphale is Crowley's idea of Heaven yeah sure in a romantic way but also like it's actually giving "angel" a description.

I was born sick, but I love it Command me to be well A-, Amen, Amen, Amen:

Whenever I hear this line I always think about the season one ending, the one where their dining together. That they just want each other's company, that their "sickness" that heaven claimed that they had wasn't really a bad thing. It was just them, they were fine with it. They didn't feel sick. (Lovesick? Absolutely.)

The first 2 lines, I think about Crowley obvs, like he's heard so many lies about Heaven or like the "truths" that Heaven gives. That there is only good and bad. And the fact that their idea of "bad" was asking a couple of completely valid questions is like- insane. Just insane. Then the last 3 lines I think about Aziraphale, like that day where they sat on that rock. He was ready to go to Hell, and he was probably ready to give up his existence that day when he didn't know what Agnes's last prophecy meant. Like their both ready to drop everything for the other and the reason that they aren't together after season two is because they never told each other that. (miscommunications)

If I'm a pagan of the good times My lover's the sunlight To keep the Goddess on my side She demands a sacrifice Drain the whole sea Get something shiny:

I think this part is sort of how Aziraphale sees what Crowley is saying during the confession scene. I think that Crowley was asking for him to make a choice, him or heaven. This is sort of the miscommunication part of it.

Something meaty for the main course That's a fine looking high horse What you got in the stable?:

This feels like the Crowley part to me for some reason, like the part where like he's like frustrated that Aziraphale won't let him talk but what are you saying rn (I have no idea if this makes sense or not)

We've a lot of starving faithful That looks tasty That looks plenty This is hungry work:

When Aziraphale wants that life with Crowley. He wants to take his hand and runway. And it's also like that metaphor, that Aziraphale never knew he was starving, he never knew he was starved of pleasure. And it's also what I think Aziraphale views his love for Crowley is, like "hungry work".

I think that this is sort of what I think season three is, like not the part where they're not talking but if they were (THEY WILL) to make up, then it would sort of be the realization that they're not actually doing something wrong, they're just wanting to be together and just enjoy each other without the fear that some danger will come after them.

a/n - ahhhh some angst to start off my hozier series, how lovely 🎉

The way the dance of the dragons has pulled your sanity at the seams agonizes you day by day. Even the ground beneath your feel is rough and dry, devoid of comfort and life and greenery. You’re afraid your lover, however, had taken it the hardest.

Her children had been ripped from her. The children born of her flesh and the drunken stupor of her brother-husband were held in the hands of the seven. She’d always been a sweet girl, one who cared for the smallest creatures, no matter how insignificant. This, among other things, had broken her beyond repair. She was not suited for the atrocities of reality, and certainly not for war.

You knew her so well- more than anyone else could claim to. You knew she liked three sugar cubes in her tea. She would’ve put more, but her handmaidens worried her cheeks would become even rounder. You knew how she tossed and turned in her sleep, only falling peacefully when you brushed the hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ears. You knew, you knew she never would have wanted this. The killing, the breaking of family bonds, all of it. She hated it so much it killed her.

She had flown to the highest peaks and brushed the lowest canyons with the tips of her wings, but in the end, she couldn’t help but fall.

Her broken body lays splayed in a patch of shade, the spikes driven through her throat seeping blood into the thirsty earth. You feel tears slipping past your waterline as you thumb the little glass vial in your pocket.

Everything seems so futile now. The sky is darkening and you are crying and the one person you dared to hold dear will be worm food in a week. It doesn’t matter, you think. Not at all.

You’ll be home soon. She’ll wrap you up in a blanket and kiss your forehead, and you will be okay.

You feel the glass give way under the pressure of your hand, and though the cuts burn, they will not hurt in a week.

You drink from your cupped palm, clear liquid mixing with blood and fire. The glass leaves iron-tasting scratches in your throat, but you swallow anyways.

You stroke her hair as you lie, looking up to the stars above. Soon, you will hold her hand under the dirt. Soon, her friends will gorge on your bones. Soon, you will finally be whole.

Last song I listened to: Breezeblocks by alt-j and the whole time, I was thinking about Falin and Marcille from Dungeon Meshi… I mean… “Please don’t go, I’ll eat you whole, I love you so […]”

Fav colour: hmm, tough choice. I’m more of colour-hater than a colour lover (I don’t like purple, even if I use it all the time for shading, lol). I guess I do like brown a lot, when accompanied with blue. Nice combo, no matter the shade. I like brown tabby cats best (I’m more of a blue eyes lover, though)

Currently watching: some seasonal anime, like Mushoku Tensei season II.

Currently reading: I’m giving Dungeon Meshi a re-read, with the official French translation this time around. I’m taking notes for fanfic writing. Otherwise, Brave New World is waiting on the nightstand.

Sweet/savoury /spicy: never heard of savoury as a flavour, aha. Is it umami? Probably is. In any case, I’m not picky and I like them all. What I’ll eat will depend on my mood.

Relationship status: single and not really looking for a partner. I’d prefer to be well on HRT before trying to find someone, if I ever bother to go looking. I’m more of a “ride or die” type of person, so casual stuff is out the window in any case, lol.

Current obsessions: *looks at my blog* Dungeon Meshi, ahaha. I can’t wait for the anime, I’m sure Trigger will do well. Kinda hoping for a full-series adaptation! Otherwise, Chainsaw Man is still on my mind, always. I have a bunch of CSM Beastars!AU WIP, fanart wise.

Last thing I googled: “Akita Inu”, as I was talking with a relative and they said they saw a tall Japanese-type dog. I showed them pictures, to which they said “yes, that’s the dog I saw!”

Currently working on: many things… Completing my current sketchbook for student credits, writing a “scientific Pokédex” for student credits (an excuse to look into many animal species and expand my own knowledge for work later on, all while having fun with speculative biology), re-reading Dungeon Meshi, analyse the characters and write fanfic for them (starting with a Laios and Lycion thing… I haven’t decided what yet), learn basic video editing so I can make the Dungeon Meshi edits I want to see (Talk by Hozier with the Winged Lion *cough*), write for my OC on Master Poké (RP forum, there’s a summer writing event going on). I've also had this idea for a Skyrim fanfic, featuring a werewolf Khajiit who has lived a big part of their life in Falkreath. Shit happens. Anyway… I won't be able to complete all of this before classes start again *sigh*
