#how to choose a pos system
Text
How much does it cost for a POS system?
(Human directed ai content.)
The cost of a point-of-sale (POS) system can vary widely depending on factors such as the complexity of the system, the number of features included, the size of the business, and whether it's a traditional on-premise system or a cloud-based solution. Here's a breakdown of potential costs:
Hardware: This includes devices such as terminals, tablets, card readers, receipt printers, barcode scanners, and cash drawers. Prices can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per device, depending on the brand and specifications.
Software: The software component of a POS system can have different pricing models. Some charge a one-time licensing fee, while others operate on a subscription basis. Subscription fees can range from $20 to $200 or more per month per register, depending on the features and scalability of the system.
Payment Processing Fees: Most POS systems integrate with payment processors to handle transactions. These processors typically charge a fee per transaction, usually a percentage of the sale amount plus a small fixed fee. Rates can vary depending on factors such as the type of transaction (in-person, online, keyed-in), the volume of sales, and the provider.
Installation and Setup: Some POS providers may charge for installation, setup, and training. This cost can vary depending on the complexity of the system and the level of customization required.
Support and Maintenance: POS systems may require ongoing support and maintenance, especially if they are cloud-based and receive regular updates. Some providers include support as part of the subscription fee, while others may charge extra for premium support services.
Additional Features and Add-ons: Many POS systems offer additional features and add-ons, such as inventory management, employee management, loyalty programs, and integrations with other software. These can come at an additional cost.
Overall, the cost of a POS system can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars upfront, with ongoing expenses for software subscriptions, payment processing fees, and support. It's essential for businesses to carefully evaluate their needs and budget when choosing a POS system and consider factors such as scalability and long-term costs.

Teen Dad (OP81)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Part 1 of the Blind Item Series) (Part 1 of the Teen Dad OP AU)
Summary: Rumors are flying about a young driver with kids
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seeing the rumor, and various other tweets commenting on the matter, first thing this morning was like getting a bucket of ice water dumped on him. Oscar immediately sat up, frightening his fiancée who was asleep next to him a moment before.
“What? What's wrong? Are you okay?” she asked, sitting up.
“Fuck this is not good.” He mumbled as he looked through more tweets. He knew he had minutes before his PR team started messaging him on how best to proceed.
“Osc, you are really scaring me. What is going on?” His fiancée asked again. After 5 years together and two kids, she knew him well enough to know that Oscar isn’t easily woken up. While he usually wakes up early to train or help the kids, on days like today where he has the chance to sleep in, he will usually take it. But the amount of notifications he started getting were enough to get him to check his phone and once he saw the severity of the situation he was awake and alarmed.
“A blind item about a ‘younger f1 driver with two kids he had as a teen’ just went up. No confirmation on who but it seems they have gotten it down to only a few of us. They don’t know yet but I am sure they will know soon.”
He was grateful they hadn’t clocked in on him but Oscar was sure with a bit more time to dig people would put two and two together. He wasn’t ashamed of the fact that he was a teen dad, not anymore at least. When he was even more so an up and coming driver, he kept it hush because he was nervous being 18 with two kids would lead teams to reconsider where his priorities were, his family or his career. That wouldn’t have been crazy of them to do though, as important as racing was to Oscar, he would always pick his family first. Luckily, though, he had a great enough support system so he didn't have to choose.
Most people in Oscar’s life knew. Any teams apart from Prema, Mclaren, and Alpine were none the wiser but why would they need to know? Not all drivers knew either, some who he had become closer to were let in on the secret, especially Logan, who had been there the entirety of his kids' lives. Annoyingly, at least in Oscar’s opinion, he has been titled ‘the cool uncle’ from day one.
“What do we do?” his fiancée asked, snapping him out of his spiraling.
“I imagine it is up to my team to figure that one out. I’ll message them now. Get the kids ready and I’ll be done in time to help with breakfast.” He said as he got up.
After a long, pretty impromptu, call, it was decided Oscar would make a statement about it before it was revealed to be him. He wasn’t too happy about not getting to really do it on his own terms but this is the way it worked out, and hey, Oscar would be lying if he said he wasn’t already planning which race he was going to bring his kids to first.

oscarpiastri This is of course not how I wanted to do this. I had hoped to have more time before I had to let the peace of privacy go but these things happen when you are in the spotlight. So yes, I am a father of two great kids and I have been since I was 18. I am not ashamed by the fact I was a teen dad, and am certainly not hiding my kids out of anything but love. I hadn’t realized I could truly love anything or anyone more than racing but then these two came into my life and I realized I would give it all up for them. Luckily, with the support of their mother (who is my fiancée) and my family, I didn’t have to give it up. My four person family means more to me than anything and I count my lucky stars each night that I have been blessed with them. I ask that you please respect our privacy. This isn’t the end of you seeing the Piastri twins but I, being the over protective father I am, am not ready to throw two 3 year olds into the chaos of the motorsport world just yet.

I admit I have been stalking your page for a put 30 minutes AND OMG YOUR WORK IS SO COOL I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND I LOVE ALL YOUR ART AND HEADCANONS OMG-
Anyway, I was reading the HCs you and somebody else came up with and I have one but I'm not 100% sure on it. Like my mind is debating it intensely.
In ishimondo which one can cook?
THIS IS A KIND OF LONG ONE SORRY-
My thought:
. Due to official art they can both cook?
. Or one is teaching the other to cook?
. Mondo seems like the guy who can't cook (just based on appearance tbh) but with his backstory he's had to fend for himself, so can he cook???
. And with Ishimaru, he seems like the person who knows how to cook, and maybe his father is out so often that he's self taught?
. But on the other hand he's spent all his time studying he hasnt taught himself those kind of skills.. sure he can make two minute noodles, or cook an egg or make some toast. But nothing fancy?
. Or maybe breakfast is the most important meal of the day to him?!?!?! Maybe it's in his routine to cook every morning?!?! Maybe he makes food for his father when he comes home from late shifts, or has bacon and egg on Sundays???
. Or he's terrible in the kitchen, and mondo taught him.
Can they both cook? Have you ever thought about this?! Sorry for the long ramble of options but I've thought about this for a week and have no idea.😭
Uhm yeah I'm going to put this on anon in case it's silly or something, but you probably know who I am based on the notes and notifications and stuff👍
Also idk if shadow banning works on tumblr like it does tiktok but if you want me to stop spam liking your posts I will, I just love your content 😭
One: screaming rn I feel so happy I’ve never had my posts stalked /pos (except for my Ben 10 acct which is bad bc I’m making an ishimondo Ben 10 au)
Two: No need to stop!! Idm!! Tbh the thing that makes me happiest is seeing people go wild in the tags, so I’m v honored.
Three: I agree! I think Mondo isn’t the beeest cook, but if it comes to Italian meals (thanks to my own hc’s and my Oowada mom oc), he’s not that bad! Although he has a bad habit of letting things overcook… he’s the type to burn popcorn and insist it’s better that way.
As for Taka, I think he’s actually quite the skilled cook—but only with more basic options. Taka’s very rigid, so if he is able to cook something more extravagant, he’ll follow it by the book, and maybe even as Teruteru for his input. (Ignoring comments Teruteru makes and Gundham glaring Teruteru down)
The only issue with Taka cooking is… he forgets to eat a lot. (And thanks to his grandad, he sometimes chooses not to eat because he dare take one extra minute of free time) That, and his food is either bland, or so spicy no one but him can eat it. A hot while back I saw @mickules mention in a post that Taka would be a spice fiend, and I. Live for that.
Also also—regarding system Taka bc I’m always gonna mention system Taka /j, Akira (aka Ishida) is actually an extremely talented baker! They aren’t super big on sweet food ironically, but they can make really good baked goods even with limited ingredients… though they prefer crunchier foods)
Additionally; Mondo can’t fucking make ramen. He just takes someone else’s. Taka can also make insanely good onigiri. Proof for Taka bc I can’t find the anthology comic with Mondo:

Hi Jess! Do we need to choose every flirt option in order to successfully romance our favorite RO?
Sometimes the non flirt choices resonate better with me. My favorite is the fidget choice in Chapter 2. That whole scene with Hades can be really wholesome and adorable especially if the PC has a similar stim.
I worry that I may be put on Hades platonic path if I don’t have enough romance points. I hope this makes sense. I tend to ramble a lot! Thank you in advance!
You don't need to ever outright flirt with them, actually. At least not as the game currently is. The plan is for at some point each RO/PO to have a discussion with the PC about what their relationship is. Whether you end up on the romance version of the path or the platonic one will most likely be decided by the answers you give there.
Though, in fairness, that part of the game design is still a bit up in the air. Regardless, though, you won't ever have to hit every single flirt opportunity to move into the romance. That's definitely not going to be what it's about.
(My romance system may in fact be in for quite a redesign before publication. Moving away from anything resembling a 'points' threshold and generally lessening the number of flirt options early on, towards a personality-based system... but that's going to require a rework of my personality variables, too, so you can see how it's hard to describe it just yet.)
(P.S. Before I get a bunch of asks worried about whether a PC with X character trait will still be able to romance their preferred RO, the answer is still yes. For all X. It just may look a little different.) :)
All to say, it's absolutely okay if the non-flirt choices resonate better with you!

SNW and DISCO spoilers
so I watched the Una episodes of discovery with no other context. So it’s just the episode where they find the sphere and the last two episodes of season two.
they really go buckwild on this ship. Tilly is being eaten by fungus and no one tells anyone. Jett and the mushroom man get high and slap each other out of it. Also did Jett appear from the vents? Michael is having a family crisis. Saru asked his friend to help him commit ritual suicide and I think a part of his brain fell out. Also I didn’t know he spoke so many languages so that was cool.
they are so dramatic here. The shocked and horrified stares around at each other made the finale an hour long otherwise it would have been like 30 minutes. I expect this from Chris but good grief. The letters goodbye one bye one? Sarek and Amanda somehow showing up ahead of a whole fleet to tell Michael they love her? The sibling fight as the ship is being fired upon? (that one tracks actually) I like it for the big moments but are they always like this?? And is the “eyes up” thing a thing and why doesn’t Chris do it anymore?
I do like the found familyness I am sensing. The whole fam banding together to go with Michael was sweet. And their goodbye to Chris. This is the level of found family where I’d expect to find at least a few of those foster kid fanfics where they refuse to leave each other and the foster parents get six kids at once. I have not looked but I would be disappointed if there aren’t any.
Pike’s stepdad energy is so strong. The whole crew does what they want and loop him in when they feel like it. They are fine without him and have their own system and dynamics going on. He knows it, too, which is hilarious to watch from just knowing him from snw. He really just intervenes to keep his genius stepchildren from straying too far off the mission. They are running around like overexcited puppies (“the sphere is trying to communicate!!!!”) and he keeps them from gnawing on the walls. But he is a good stepdad in that he is ready to throw hands and use his ship as a shield so they can get away from section 31.
then as soon as he gets back to enterprise he brings all of the evil fbi apparently. Una is not surprised and has tricked out the whole ship and the shuttles for battle without prompt. She went Chris was out of my sight for too long we need to be ready to fight the galaxy.
and some more Una notes: Katrina Cornwell seemed tall and commanding until she stood next to Una and it was hilarious how small she was. Took me out of the dramatic bomb defusing moment but I still had fun. And Chris knew someone was going to die from that torpedo and got Una out as soon as he knew there were no other options. My pikeuna heart.
And Una choosing violence with the interrogation sent me. SNW fans know she has been hiding and afraid of scrutiny her whole life, and this is how she shows it. What a woman. She did not even tell them her name. Did we know she was Una at this point or was she Number One all the way until snw premiered?
“Follow the queen.” *Chris immediately looks at Una* I see you Chris.
it is obvious that they did not know how they were going to open snw with Chris being depressed and Una going missing but I liked their shock and happiness when Spock showed up beardless.
idk if I am intrigued enough to watch this whole show but I like Georgiou being their personal annoying gremlin. “Everybody hates you. Congratulations.” Also queen Po going if I die I die.
did not like Una going “in English please” to literally another navigator. We know she’s a genius let her be one y’all. If it were a science person going off a thousand words a minute I would allow it. But Una was talking to a pilot. Do better.
IN GENERAL, a good time. I was there for Una and she was not there much, but that was expected I guess. I was not prepared for how emotional discovery's crew would be. They are all in their feelings at all times. I liked them as a crew and maybe I will return one day.

Is it Ranpo or Rampo? PSA since the spelling is different between subs:
The real life author Edogawa Ranpo/Rampo was a very cool person. There are lots of fun stories about him, but the thing to know is that he liked Edgar Allan Poe and could speak English. (He liked Poe's mystery stories specifically, Poe having created the proto-Sherlock in his stories about character C. Auguste Dupin).
Why RaNpo: The original author based his pen name on Edgar Allan Poe. Because of the Japanese phonetic system, the first O is considered "soft" and can be skipped over when talking fast, and the W sound is so soft it's often omitted from translation altogether. The Rs are a little more complicated but for the purposes of this explanation I'll just say that soft Rs at the ends of English words are often omitted in their Japanese counterparts (i.e. "computer" is pronounced "computa"), and Japanese doesn't have an L sound exactly, so the R in Ranpo is a stand-in. Thus:
Edgar Allan Poe -> Edga aran po -> Edgaa ranpo -> Edogawa Ranpo -> えどがわ•らんぽ -> 江戸川•乱歩
So this makes it seem like a no-brainer to spell it Ranpo. I'll give another point in Ranpo's favor: Japanese does not have a stand-alone character for M. Each Japanese character has at least two letter sounds in it and one is always a vowel (thus "do" instead of just "d" in Edogawa). Vowel-only sounds are an exception to this rule. They have characters that represent solo A, E, I, O, U sounds - and one for N. ん is just the letter N. They do have the M sound of course, and Ranpo is written "Ra-n-po" so this must mean it's Ranpo, right?
Why RaMpo:
Now it gets complicated. As previously mentioned, Edogawa Rampo could read and speak English. He couldn't write it, however, and so in the 1950s he collaborated with a translator to translate his works into English. His chosen romanization of his pen name? Edogawa Rampo.
Now we KNOW he knew better. He can read English and he's a huge Poe fan, he knows this isn't how Allan is spelled. I haven't been able to find anything on his reasoning, but nobody in the US even realizes this is a play on Poe's name upon hearing it, so I doubt copyright had anything to do with the spelling (and they got way fewer claims for that in the 1950s anyway). I will say that I've seen quite a few Japanese people choose handles related to things they like in German/English and then choose to spell it differently in the romanization, so it might just be for fun. But whatever the reason, the fact remains that Edogawa Rampo himself spelled it Rampo.
On the use of ん, a translator friend of mine once explained the phonetics of the ん character to me. If you're an avid weeb you might have seen "senpai" spelled "sempai" on occasion. You know how the letter A has long and short pronunciations (denoted by "ā" and "ă" respectively)? Similarly, ん has 4 different pronunciations depending on the sounds around it. The most common one is indeed the N sound English-speakers are familiar with, but if ん comes before a sound where your lips press together (such as M, B, or P) it's pronounced like an M. Rampo has one of these sounds following the ん. Certain style guides advise using the letter M in this case.
Since these style guides are prevalent in Japan, it's possible that Edogawa was just following one of those in his chosen translation. Or he might have been being artistic. Someone out there may know but I sure don't.
As a final note for Rampo, all of the official Japanese merch uses the M spelling. I take any and all official merch spellings with a grain of salt, but in this case it's very consistent. Funimation's written romanization has been Rampo (check season 2), but Yen Press has used Ranpo.
So what's the answer?
Technically both are "right," it just depends on your style guide (and, personally, I like Ranpo better), so the answer is... use whichever you like! Such is the way of romanization in anime fandoms.

hi sovo ;u; I hope it's okay if I ask you a shop question! So um, I'm lower on money than I've ever been and I'm too burnt out to do commissions for ppl due to personal stuff, but I feel like... if I made one charm or one sticker for a particularly huge fandom/movie that's out right now, and if I put it up as preorder and sold at least 20 keychains then I'd be able to pay my bills this month. but I've never sold physical merch before and I'm a little nervous to try it haha :'D
Would you recommend I try making an Etsy since it seems to have a large enough audience, or do you think I should try making my own website/shop? I'm definitely not ready to consistently sell things as a steady job yet, I thought I'd try literally just one single keychain or one sticker sheet (I already learned how to make those, thankfully) in order to pay my rent this month bc I've only got about a hundred dollars to my name sdflkfssdf;; and if it goes well then maybe I can try it again.
I'm also not quite sure how to price things? if I made a 3.5 inch acrylic charm with the little star shaped keychains like from Vograce, do people normally price those at $15 when they sell them? should I also account for shipping? I've also umm never shipped merch before and I'm so worried about somehow messing it up sldfjsf like I don't know what kind of envelopes I have to get or if I should even use my own address bc I'm so nervous about my personal info being out there, but I don't know if it's worth paying for a PO box if I'm so low on money already. if you have any tips on anything whatsoever, I would appreciate any feedback if you're not busy. But if you don't want to answer please don't worry about it ;u; anyway thank you so much for reading this I really appreciate you! ❤
no prob! here are my thoughts:
pros/cons of etsy:
apparently if you're new to selling on etsy, there's a probationary period where etsy withholds your profits for 3 months. i don't know anything about it personally since it started in 2020, but it seems that funds are only released when your shipped orders are scanned at the post office. i think i also remember hearing about other cases where payments aren't released at all for 3 months--and etsy customer service has a reputation of being difficult to get a hold of if you have a problem as a seller, so if etsy made a mistake with your shop, it may take even more months to resolve. since you have preorders in mind, i would hold off on etsy unless you can pay out of pocket.
etsy can drive traffic towards your listing for you (if you choose the right keywords--it's more difficult to be discovered just randomly if you don't).
they have high fees (for a $15 charm they'd take $1.88 in fees, which is 12.5%).
people may be cautious to buy from a shop that has no reviews yet, but many customers are protected by etsy's purchase protection and can be refunded at no cost to you if their order gets lost in the mail (provided that you ship with a tracking number and meet other criteria).
etsy will strongly recommend that you offer free shipping; ignore them. i don't think i've ever bought fanmerch with free shipping in my life, and their advice isn't geared towards sellers like us.
preorders don't work very well with etsy's system--iirc you're not supposed to do them (even though people still do, of course) but the main reason i remember is that the max processing time etsy lets you set per product (as in, the time between the customer purchasing the listing and you shipping it out) is 6 weeks. that means that the time you allow for customers to place their preorders, the time it takes for you to order and receive the merch, and the time it takes for you to ship out orders, all need to add up a max of 6 weeks, which was personally a difficult timeline for me to meet when making keychains. ofc, it's possible to extend the processing time, but going over the processing time may make it possible for customers to leave reviews/open cases early before you're even ready to ship out their orders, which could affect the reputation of your shop.
pros/cons of not etsy:
if you're not going with etsy, i've heard people recommend bigcartel, since it doesn't require a subscription like shopify or other places do. bigcartel's free plan is limited, but it should work for what you're looking for. another alternative might be ko-fi--i've heard that ko-fi shops aren't ideal for shipping out a large amount of orders, but since you're targeting just 20 i think it should be manageable.
ofc, you'll have to drive all your traffic yourself, so consider if you have enough of a following in your target fandom, or how you should go about getting your post noticed by your target fandom.
unlike etsy, shipping isn't auto-calculated, so i'd probably set a flat rate (in the US i'd expect $5). flat rates might make calculating your taxes just a little bit more complicated; in california at least, you have to pay taxes on the difference between the shipping you charge your customers and the shipping you actually pay to the post office, so iirc you either refund the extra shipping to the customer or hand it all over in taxes.
pricing:
yes, the standard price for ~3" acrylic keychains is $15, though i've also seen people go up to $16 or $17, especially on etsy where the fees are high.
shipping should be a separate cost, either auto-calculated for you (if you're on etsy/shopify) or a flat rate that you set based on shipping rates for your country, so in the end a customer might pay $15 + $5 = $20 in total.
unless most of your prospective customers are international, i'd recommend against shipping internationally to avoid dealing with customs forms, especially since you already have a lot of info to take in.
you can ship everything in a regular bubble mailer, though if you're just shipping stickers not keychains, a flat envelope should work fine. when shipping packages, you'll need to know the weight of each package, but you can just go by an estimate. a 3" acrylic keychain weighs about 1 oz (it weighs less than that, but they don't accept decimals) so i just multiply based on how many keychains are in an order. for usps at least, shipping is the same rate up until 10 oz iirc, so you don't need to weigh it super accurately. you could also always just go into the post office and have them weigh and label everything for you.
po box:
if regular PO box rates in your area are too high, you can also consider using a virtual po box; they go for about $10 per month at their most basic plans. if you're not expecting to get any mail redirected back to you, you should be able to just buy a month's subscription when you're ready to ship things out.
words of caution:
you probably already know this, but large fandoms can often be oversaturated by merch, so just choosing a large fandom might not be enough to guarantee a sale--you might have to stand out by, say, choosing a character who's in demand but doesn't have much fanmerch, having a funny meme concept, or having such a unique/attractive style that people can't help but want your fanmerch in particular. if you haven't already, i'd recommend looking around the market and seeing what's out there and decide why a buyer should choose your merch over anyone else's. though honestly, depending on your fandom, it could also not be this serious and not warrant much research--it all depends!
even if the preorder process works out and you get the funds to place the order, the manufacturer could always mess up on your order, which could lead to delays in your fulfillment and at worst, more expenses if you need to pay to get them remade. if it's easier to get sticker sheets made (like if you make them yourself/locally instead of ordering from overseas) they might be a safer choice of merch to make. ofc, i don't generally see sticker sheets up for preorder so you'd probably have to order them out of pocket and hope they sell, and you'll probably have to sell more of them than you would of keychains to get the same amount of profit. i don't know the whole situation, so i can't say anything definite about the risks/rewards between choosing to sell keychains and choosing to sell stickers.

"I love you!"
Thank you @awleeofficial for the tag!
Just doing the Land of the Fallen Fairies characters <3 (And I am weak for characters saying they love each other without saying they love each other so thank you for tagging me in this!)
Tumblr media
Kamari:
"I love you!"
"You're so sweet. I can see why the others like you."
"Do you need a hug, little one?"
"How about we watch the sunset together before we leave. Does that sound nice?"
"Can we be the exception?"
"What if - and I mean this with utmost sincerity - I don't go back to being the High Protector and I just shower you with compliments until I die?"
"Why would I need to be 'practical' when you're so good with everything?" (Kamari for "Don't leave me ever")
Always asks things like 'okay?' or 'right?', especially to Anuli because Anuli tends to zone off.
Has a song for everyone fae loves. Anuli knows this as Kamari's lullaby. Ankh knows this as faer favorite song. (They both can't remember how their song goes without Kamari around).
Goes along with Anuli's fantasies as if they were perfectly normal and logical discussions. (this would need a longer scene hence why I'm not writing it)
"Don't make me choose. I can't." (Kamari when referring to how Ankh thinks Anuli would be better off dead.)
Tumblr media
Ankh: "You have the self-care abilities of a rock." *Brandishes flowers and plants* "These should fix that. As long as you don't act dumb and DON'T EAT TOO MUCH - I'm talking to you Kamari - then the cut you've been neglecting should heal within a moon."
Also:
"It's not your fault. You weren't there. How could your presence affect the outcome?" *Ankh thinks that should solve any overpowering emotions, because ~logic~*
always makes sure to address Kamari by faer name whenever possible
"If the system killed you, I'd destroy in your name" (Ankh for "nothing will hurt you")
"You should listen to the birds seven times before the sun sets. It does not fix things. But it helps."
"Stop being an idiot and go to sleep."
The reason Ankh wants Anuli to die is because fae thinks that Anuli's survival is dangerous to Kamari's future. (tree-less dryad and such and such.)
Tumblr media
Anuli: "The characters don't die! I promise! The story ends happily and there's no conflict whatsoever!" (Anuli for "don't leave, I'm trying to make you happy.")
Imagines a whole fantasy world in which fae can stay with Kamari forever
distances faerself from Kamari because fae agrees with Ankh
The definition of Happy Ending to Anuli is "Kamari".
Constantly cuddling. (Kamari didn't know fae was touch-starved until fae met Anuli.)
Honestly this is especially hard to write for Anuli, because faer best way of caring for others is to tell them stories and physical touch. Fae doesn't really know how to help any other way. (And that's part of the problem :)
And as usual I overdid this. /pos Thanks for the tag!
Gently tagging: @mylee-sketches @holdmyteaplease @the-stray-storyteller @fenatics @emabatis @imslowlydisintegrating @osbob-the-existent
I'd like to know how you're characters would say:
"Don't blame yourself"

Oki then: who are your ocs and how&why did you come up with them? Have a wonderful week!
When I tell you I woke up and screamed, that I had a big stupid smile on my face, I'm not lying. I texted my friends, and I took a screenshot. I was giggling and kicking my feet like a schoolgirl.
Oh, this is a lovely loaded question, anon! I have the urge and need to yap about my children because I love them so much. For now I only want to talk about the oc that I use the most because I am so familiar with him and he swims around in my brain until something new crosses my sights.
Tumblr media
before i get into talking about Arcturus Black:
"how & why did you come up with them?"
Not to sound 'cringe' or 'weird' I typically come up with an original character if I either want to be inserted into that universe, or there is a character I really like that I want to interact with. They start out as self-inserts but over time develop their own personalities and lore. And this could go for any fandom I'm in.
Arcturus Black is one of my HP oc's whom I've fallen in love again with this HP revival. (idk how I got back into this fandom)
*p.s. I will not watch the new series on MAX because I absolutely despise JK Rowling and her writing is shit anyway
To say it bluntly, I like Regulus Black, specifically the Regulus Black whom we know nothing about. Not the fandom girliepopification of Regulus Black. He was a Quidditch player for Slytherin, joined the Death Eater's young, betrayed Voldemort because he messed with Kreacher.
I uphauled my previous Harry Potter oc and wanted to make another one because I was a Hufflepuff and had landed on giving Regulus Black a son because I had seen a lot of people give Sirius Black children. I thought I was being cool and quirky straying from what other people do. Thus the idea for Arcturus was born.
He was tall, he had dark hair he could tie up, his eyes reminded me of the moon, he barely smiled, he hid behind books, he avoided people. Arcturus quickly became my pride and joy because I loved his personality, I loved his lore, I loved the angst specifically.
Being upset because his uncle, Sirius, preferred Harry over him and even avoided him in some cases. Sirius died in the Ministry thinking Arcturus hated him, the boy that looked almost uncannily like his brother. Fucking- He's a lil shit/pos
He has a friend group consisting of Severinus Lyall (to be yapped ab later), Luna Lovegood, and Neville Longbottom. I like to call the four of them Four Corners because Arcturus is a Hufflepuff, Neville and Gryffindor, Luna a Ravenclaw, and Severinus a Slytherin. They are his closest friends, but there are times he would rather curl up with a good book. Outsiders often mistake him looking at his book as not paying attention whenever one of his friends are talking, but he pays attention even with his face buried in a book.
Did I mention he has a crush on Neville?
He is fucking whipped for Neville Longbottom, just as I am whipped for Neville Longbottom. Dare I say more?
JkJk I will say more. Arcturus denies ever having feeling for Neville in the first place because he's afraid of those feelings. He's afraid of what other people will say. He doesn't know himself well enough to trust those feelings, mainly he's just scared his feelings are filling the void in him cause he has no idea who his dad is.
He's protective of his friends, protective of Neville. He fights for the people who stood by him when everyone else doubted him. He cherishs his friends. They are his support system when he is at Hogwarts.
The disconnect with the Black family name because he didn't grow up with anyone, the hatred of who he is because everyone already assumes the worst of him. I mean, I've planned for Arcturus to have a whole arc to himself about wanting to understand himself and wanting others to understand him because so many people choose to think they already know who he is just because of his name.
And I can relate to him, so much. I can relate to not feeling like I understand myself, or that I'm even more isolated from my already small family, its why I love him so much.
The only reason why I don't think he's a self insert completely is because with writing, everyone puts a piece of themselves in it. In whatever they create, the artist breathes life of their own into their creation. Sure, Arcturus isn't my only oc but he was the one I wanted to talk about because I use him more than the others. I have quite a few that I could talk about but they aren't as feral on the brain as Arcturus is. I'm writing a new fic with him, I'm developing him more. (the fic is a sequel, you should check it out/j)
Okay, I didn't exactly try to sit down and write this in one go, nor did I really have a list or uniform information about Arcturus. I don't exactly write things down about my ocs, instead end up telling my irl friends random blurbs about them whether I have an idea involving fanfiction or not. Honesty, I should do that Meet the Character Monday thing...
If you've read this far, thank you very much for reading. And again, anon, thank you so much for asking this question. It made my day to see it in my inbox!

16, 18 and 31 on Skulduggery for the ask game?
SKUG FUCK YEAH oh god these are gonna make me experience Thoughts And Feelings arent they /pos 16) deepest darkest secret they won’t even admit to themselves: oh this is. this is so evil i love you thank you im probably gonna end up spoiling book 15 be warned the first Plausible thing i thought of was that he did love china, for a little while. i hate the whole grandkids thing it doesnt make sense even chronologically but eh but no i do think he loved china for a bit, and not just because of the w. the whole her being beautiful as fuck- but because he really, truly cared about her. he probably would have felt so guilty about it if hed ever given it any thought- especially after he found out about some of her Worse Shit i think probably after wifey? like a few decades or so after wifey/the war. maybe. hm second thought: he thinks he is entirely unforgiveable. he says that he'll reclaim his family crest some day- but i do think he's lying. mostly to himself, but to val also. but realistically he has no plans to forgive himself, or accept others' forgiveness of him. he would deny that. i think. probably because admitting that to himself would make it that much harder to keep doing things- ie qquote un-quote good things. because if it wouldnt make a difference, it wouldnt change what hed done, what would be the point? 18) what they’d go to see a therapist about: i think he would have to be forced to go at gunpoint but id like to believe hed choose to go ghddgh but i think initially he'd go for. yknow how a fuck ton of characters point out him being an "angry man"??? thaaaaaat but it'd end up including his gEneral self loathing and all that traumatic sh- genuinely take a shot for every time he's been tortured and that doesnt include everything that's happened. ok. there's a lot. i don't know how if he'd actually be helped by going to therapy though. the systems arent that great for one and i think a lot of the gENeRAl sElf HatREd is. quite ingrained at this point rgyfhdgf.
31) jf they had a tumblr what would it look like: mmmm ok two thoughts: classic cars or getting into debates over true crime/crime. based fiction i dont remember what the genre is called i think all he'd figure out how to change is his pfp (probably just. set to a picture of his bentley or something oR. he'd deliberately leave it as default. or val would change it to something ridiculous and he'd give up trying to reset it), and his blog title n such. which i imagine would just be his name or, again, val setting it as something dumb and him not being able/bothered to change it erhgbegd. he'd either post an ungodly amount or very little at all (n just mostly reblogging stuff), probably the first, but he would use entirely correct grammar n punctuation, and probably correct other people on theirs in the tags. dickhead.
thank you for the ask!!! and sorry for the ramble(s)!!!!

Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom Alignments:
Lawful Neutral to Lawful Good- Matthias Helvar
Fits the best but definitely is a case of 'eventually' as even after his faith in the Fjerdan system is broken, he reinterprets and follows Djel the way he believes they should be followed. Definitely not a fan of Crimes.
Neutral Good- Wylan Van Eck
Obviously.
Chaotic Good- Nina Zenik
She is most definitely more swayed by her belief in a person than by any allegiance she may have to a code. More willing to do crimes than Matthias.
Lawful Good to Lawful Neutral- Inej Ghafa
Clearly Lawful and was willing to do bad things, you can't really argue that despite her reasons being 100% valid. A lot of neutralness stems from entering survival mode. And by the end, it's not out of necessity anymore, and she even chooses to seemingly go with a "better to ask forgiveness than permission" value system with her religion. If you are going to look at Kaz and go, "he threatens kids and kills people" and then ignore that Inej ends the story...threatening a kid and killing people...ummm hmmm.
True Neutral- Kaz Brekker
Holy fuck, he uses and misuses the system itself depending on whether or not the action is beneficial. He is capable of evil/selfishness and good/selflessness in Equal measure.
(There is literally an instance where he wanted to follow Matthias in the Ice Court, to info gather, but followed Nina instead, to protect her, because he was afraid to leave her alone with the Fjerdans. No one would've known about this and he did it anyway.)
If he has a personal code it's literally "Upholds deals and, while willing to threaten, will in fact make things more complex and difficult as to not hurt innocent people...or at least women and children." And, at least with the upholding deals bit, we see him break this code at least 2.5 times within the narrative. He makes deals with both Ooman and the lawyer's assistant before he instead kills both of them for being, you know, actual Evil people. He goes into the 2nd meet with Van Eck ready to betray if necessary (and it was). The 2nd possibility of what could be his code contradicts the nature of Evil out right.
So, clearly, just like following the actual Law his personal code, if he has one, is flexible and generally guided by how much of a pos he thinks you are.
Chaotic Neutral- Jesper Fahey
Obviously.
Lawful Evil- Jarl Brum
Obviously.
Neutral Evil- Jan Van Eck, Pekka Rollins and Tante Heleen
All of them clearly manipulate the system, once again using it and breaking it depending on their whims. Clearly, Evil.
Chaotic Evil- Ooman
Literally a character who exists solely to be creepy and love murder.
Regarding all the levels of Evil; to actually give perspective to the world, you gotta draw a line somewhere. These are the actual horrid humans by the standards of the world where in the story exists.
Anyway, you're welcome.

The Complete Guide to PayPal Merchant Accounts for Small Businesses
Tumblr media
As a small business owner, accepting payments easily and securely is crucial for success. With more commerce happening online, PayPal has become one of the most popular payment methods for small businesses. In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about PayPal merchant accounts, their requirements costs, and how to choose the right one for your small business.
What is a PayPal Merchant Account?
A PayPal merchant account allows your business to accept payments through PayPal directly into your PayPal account. It works similarly to a traditional merchant account connected to your bank account but links to your PayPal account instead. This makes accepting PayPal payments and managing transactions simple through one centralized PayPal interface.
Unlike a regular PayPal personal account, a PayPal merchant account comes with additional features tailored for businesses, such as:
Accepting credit and debit card payments through PayPal
Business PayPal debit card
Invoicing capabilities
Ability to accept payments in-store, online, and via mobile
Access to PayPal business reporting and insights
Dedicated PayPal customer support for merchants
Merchant Account vs. PayPal: What’s the Difference?
Many small businesses get confused between traditional merchant accounts and PayPal merchant accounts. Here are some key differences:
Set-up and approval: PayPal accounts are generally easier and faster to set up compared to formal merchant accounts, which require lengthy applications.
Costs: PayPal offers transparent pricing, whereas merchant accounts have multiple complex fees like interchange fees, statement fees, etc.
Payment processing: PayPal processes payments through their platform directly to your PayPal balance. Merchant accounts transfer funds to your business bank account.
Accepted cards: Most merchant accounts accept Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, and Discover. PayPal processes Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX, but not Discover.
In-person payments: Merchant accounts integrate with POS systems for in-store payments. PayPal requires a card reader for in-person card acceptance.
Chargeback liability: With PayPal, chargeback liability shifts between the customer, PayPal, and the merchant. For merchant accounts, the business assumes full liability.
As you can see, PayPal provides a lot more convenience and simplicity compared to traditional merchant accounts. It is best suited for small e-commerce businesses with limited transactions. For businesses with higher volumes, a merchant account may be better equipped to handle monthly transaction limits.
PayPal Business Account Requirements
If you decide a PayPal merchant account is right for your company, here are some key requirements to open one:
Registered US business legal entity – Sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, corporation, etc.
Tax ID number (EIN or SSN)
Bank account
Contact details like business address, email, and phone number
Some business types classified as “high risk” by PayPal may require further verification, including:
Pharmaceuticals, healthcare merchants
Certain supplements and nutraceuticals
Investment or credit-related services
Multi-level marketing businesses
Be sure to consult PayPal’s restricted businesses list before applying.
PayPal Merchant Account Fees
Understanding PayPal’s business account requirements and fees is key to determining if it’s profitable for your small business. Here are the standard pricing plans:
PayPal Standard – PayPal’s basic free account to accept online payments with credit cards and PayPal payments. Standard transaction fees apply without monthly charges.
PayPal Advanced – Steps up features for e-commerce with a low monthly fee. Lower per-transaction costs and advanced reporting.
PayPal Pro – Full-service merchant account capabilities with a virtual terminal, recurring billing, and invoicing.
Be sure to use the PayPal Pricing Calculator to estimate potential monthly costs based on your sales projections. This will determine whether a PayPal merchant account is financially viable for you compared to a traditional merchant processor.
PayPal Merchant Account vs. Net 30 Business Account
Some business types, like B2B merchants, may prefer extended net 30 business accounts. This allows corporate clients 30 days to pay invoices, which is better suited for high average order values.
In such cases, while PayPal offers net 30 invoicing, the daily account balance still needs to be fully covered by the merchant. Whereas net 30 merchant processors provide revolving credit for true net 30 payment terms, Larger ticket sizes above $10,000 may also run into PayPal transaction limits.
Evaluate your average order value, clients' requested billing terms, and sales projections to determine if a customized net 30 merchant account is more practical than PayPal.
Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems for Small Businesses
The right point of sale, or POS, system enables small brick-and-mortar retailers to easily conduct in-person transactions. An ideal small business POS system seamlessly integrates with your payment processor to safely accept customer payments.
PayPal offers POS integration for physical retailers via PayPal. Here, consisting of:
Mobile POS app – Accepts payments directly using the PayPal Here mobile app paired with a smartphone or tablet. Also includes digital receipts, barcode scanning, inventory management, and reporting.
Card reader – The handheld PayPal Chip Card Reader allows tap, dip, and swipe card acceptance via Bluetooth connectivity with the mobile app. Portable for food trucks or pop-up stores.
Desktop app – For large inventory needs, retailers can process orders and payments using the browser-based PayPal Here desktop POS app. Features advanced customization and works with barcode scanners, cash drawers, etc.
Alternatively, traditional credit card POS systems like Clover, Square, or Shopify POS can also integrate with your PayPal business account. They provide both customizable software and hardware POS solutions for store retailers looking for more robust capabilities beyond PayPal's offerings. During setup, simply link the external POS with your PayPal payment acceptance to process transactions from one unified system.
Choosing the Best PayPal Merchant Account
If going the PayPal route for processing payments, opting for the PayPal Pro plan offers the best rates and complete functionality for established small enterprises. Features like interchange-plus pricing, invoicing tools, recurring payments, and dedicated account management provide scalability to grow a profitable business long-term.
Whereas sole proprietors and home-based businesses may benefit from PayPal Standard or Advanced plans depending on lower monthly transaction volumes. Carefully calculate projected sales before picking a pricing tier.
Conclusion
This comprehensive guide summarizes everything small business owners must know about PayPal merchant accounts, from paperwork and qualifications to how pricing compares to merchant processors. PayPal Pro currently offers the most competitive transaction rates and robust e-commerce features like recurring billing and advanced reporting to profitably scale your company over the long run.
