The Hourly Rate is alive and well: there is no such thing as Alternative Fee Arrangements
If you are wondering what types of Alternative Fees Arrangements (AFAs) in-house General Counsel are asking their private practice suppliers to provide them with – or, to flip the coin, what AFAs private practice lawyers are charging their in-house GCs, then wonder no longer. The latest market report from the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) sets this out in a nice clear table:

What are the hourly rates of Angular programmers?
Angular programmers’ hourly rates vary depending on several factors, including their level of experience and expertise, where they are located, the demands of the project, and many others. Considering these factors, you can find skilled developers with the right skill sets within your project budget and timeline. Usually, they are expected to have skills in JavaScript and be proficient in and around the framework.
The demand for developers is high because of the framework’s scalability. So finding developers with the right skill sets at an affordable rate will be tedious. In this article, we will discuss the skills you should look for in developers when hiring, as well as the hourly rates they charge for the projects assigned to them.
Why is there a demand?
Recent years have seen Angular become one of the most popular programming languages. There has been no change in its popularity over the years. Many big-name businesses and organisations use this framework in their app development pipelines, including Google (of course), Microsoft Office, GMail, Forbes, Delta, Deutsche Bank, PayPal, and Samsung. i'm.... going to be that person again cause hi o/ i've done professional translation -subtitling, proofreading, typesetting and script translation- for film in latin america (where im from) and..... 1$ per minute was kind of.... the standard payment for translation and even a little high....
and even with that, i was lowballed by other translators MULTIPLE times (i had multiple instances of people telling me my rates were "too high for them". yes at 1$ a minute for translation, and then 2$ extra each minute for syncing and typesetting)
even when i worked with an european (german) company as an outsourced translator, this was more or less the expected rate
so idk. im once again sitting here in the "let me stay in my corner cause this is just standard pay for me" and it's the weirdest feel im not gonna lie
Thanks for the input !
After a quick research on this (adding it to the long list of random stuff i’ve googled because of this situation), it seems like translation pay rates can vary a lot depending on :
-Your country of residence
-The currency of said country
-The language pairing your working with
Seems like the consensus though is that translation work in general tends to be heavily underpaid 🫠🫠
For this admin’s case (who is from brazil from what I understand), SINTRA (Brazilian translators union) recommends a rate of around 6$/minutes for videos subtitles but yeah idk exactly what the average rates for EN>PT translation are, in any case it should be enough to offer a good hourly salary for translators.
Moment of silence for Lumi and any others in a similar situation who got a grand total of 0$ for her translations btw

MORE TRAZYN CRIMES
My client response to these unwarranted accusations is "lol, yeah, that was hilarious. Get bent, Neshkafar."
This should in no way be interpreted as an admission of guilt. All inquiries should be submitted through these law offices. No direct statements will be released henceforth.

i have been so lost in the sickness-sauce that i bit the bullet and hired cleaners (too expensive*!!! HCOL areas tf!!!!!!) to help me get my place back to a workable baseline and the cleaner just called me like "i'm so, so sorry to cancel with 12 hours notice but i got hurt at work today and i just got out of the hospital and since you need help with organization and not just cleaning I don't think I can come" and like.
1. bummer 2. obviously this is totally fine and not her fault
but the like, abject miserable gratitude with which she thanked me for being understanding, like. how the FUCK are people out there treating their cleaning ladies.

I'm now offering painted portrait commissions. This is a character-focused style and the price includes simple props & minimalist backgrounds. Compositions are currently restricted to poses from the waist up or higher.
Pricing for this style is two-phased: each color type has a cost for a "base image" while further detailing (referred to as "rendering") is a flat hourly rate. Examples of a "base image" are labelled above. Think of it like a rough draft: this is the lines and colors before I begin painting over them. You can order just a "base image" if you like.
Monochrome: $10 USD, +$5 for every extra character.
A single color gradient.
Light-to-Dark: $15 USD, +$10 for every extra character.
A two color gradient with one light color and a different dark color, plus a transition color when necessary.
Full Color: $20 USD, +$15 for every extra character.
Please provide color reference.
Rendering is currently +$10USD per hour.
The timer only runs when I'm actively working on a piece and I round time down (so 1 hour & 29 minutes of work counts as 1 hour.) Keep in mind that when drawing more than one character, the time spent rendering is shared between them, so 1 hour spent on a single-character commission will end up more detailed than 1 hour spent on two characters.
Please read the restrictions, Terms of Service, and FAQ on my dedicated [commission page]
Email me at
[email protected] if you’re interested. When ordering a commission please include:
the email linked to the PayPal or Stripe you’ll be paying with
character references + posing/composition preferences
If I accept your commission, I'll send you an invoice. After it’s paid, I’ll get started & send you a sketch for approval which is your chance to ask for revisions if you want them.
Feel free to send an ask, direct message, or email if you have any questions or would like a price quote.
Thank you so much for sharing!

Survey: 'Seven in ten law firms say they lack confidence in negotiating fees [with clients]'
Survey: ‘Seven in ten law firms say they lack confidence in negotiating fees [with clients]’
Interesting quote in a post on the Legal Futures website by Nick Hilborne ‘Law firms “lack confidence in negotiating fees”‘:
Seven in ten law firms say they lack confidence in negotiating fees while 40% “do not know with any certainty” what proportion of their client relationships are profitable, a study has found.
And while I found that interesting (if not a little depressing), this quote made…

extremely funny how i'm doing probably about 50% more work than the other two people with whom i share a job title because i am the only one who's Technically Cross-Trained so can do x and y and z on top of the usual a and b and c. and yet i still make the same hourly rate as them 👍🏻
