I used osab’s Web Installer to install it as a non-Steam game. It was very simple and straight forward and TS2 works beautifully!

Yeah, I tried the yoga mats, but I didn’t like them, I just use the join yoga interaction, and then put the sims to the right place with moveobjects 😅

@merluvlee-sims2- It’s a great option for people who are struggling to play TS2 on Windows!

Tutorial/Installation Replies
@rockethorse- I am planning on writing up a tutorial for how I got it to install. I’m hoping it will be posted this week.
@horusmenhosetix- @mortia & @cindysimblr already had TS2 installed on their Linux machines... Mortia using Ubuntu & Cindy using Mint, so I harassed them incessantly for information and advice. I also used this information that @cindysimblr posted to her Tumblr. I joined the TS2 Community Discord server and got some advice from OSAB (I used their install file), but the most valuable help I got was from Tannis Root at the Lutris Discord server. (Please note that Tannis Root is currently affected by the mobilisation of Russian citizens and may not be in a position to help at the moment). I spent months researching how to get TS2 running on Linux, but the above people were invaluable. I will look at getting a tutorial for installation written up and posted this week. I’m also happy to answer questions, but my Ubuntu knowledge is very limited.
SimPE & Other Program Replies
@equinoxts2 , @mortia & @cindysimblr - I think until someone can really get SimPE and the other programs going in Linux, it will be a case of transferring files between Linux and Windows machines to do edits. I will have an identical install of my game on my Win10 laptop and it is easy enough to transfer files between the two. Hopefully someone figures out SimPE on Linux soon!

I'm doing the Hix Completionist Challenge by @horusmenhosetix! Quite literally doing everything in that challenge and I mean everything so that's fun :D!
This is my founder Pandora Lovelace:

Lifetime Wish: The Perfect Garden
Occult: Vampire
|Backstory:
Pandora Lovelace is a Vampire from Moonlight Falls who left to have a long-lasting Generation of children and grandchildren spread out throughout the world. Pandora didn’t want to continue the Vampire line and wanted the best for their future children and grandchildren, free of occult life state, and let them make that decision when they’re older. Despite being a Vampire, Sunset Valley was the perfect place for Pandora, she had dreams of being a gardener, not being a vampire, and having to rule a coven. She wasn’t the only one who moved to Sunset Valley, her closest Witch friend, Vivian, came along with her to support her and keep in touch. |
If you're curious on how exactly I'm doing the challenge(I am myself because I quite literally just started and have no idea if everything will work correctly) it's under the cut
I have three different points systems set up, I'm using my own, the one from the challenge, and the legacy challenge points.
When I say I'm completing everything in this challenge, I mean everything. I'm getting points for everything. My solution for some of the careers listed that have two branches and different criteria's, I'm either having twins to fulfil that or using a spouse to do so. Same thing goes for multiple lifetime wishes.
I've split Generation 1 into parts so that I'm not directly having 11 kids and doing all of the careers, I want to be able to focus on all the sims I have and give them their own storyline and completion, which is why I made my founder a Vampire because she's got lots of work to do. I randomized the order that I'm doing the careers of Generation 1 so Artist and Athlete will be the first kids(fingers crossed for both a boy and girl at the start) and I won't have Pandora have the next set of kids which is Musician and Business until I'm either halfway through Artist and Athlete or about done. I'm also using the fertility reward, so that Pandora isn't just popping out singles, give me a damn album.(I hope for future generations since I'm giving the reward to almost all the heirs, because they'll need it mainly for my sanity on baby making, that it does not do me dirty and give me more kids than I need, please sim gods)
There are two lifetime wishes for Farmer/Fisher and I want Pandora to do both and since the game let's you choose another lifetime wish, it'll be pretty easy to complete both seeing as she is a Vampire. I won't try and stay strictly to the challenge so I won't burn myself out, I just want to have fun and do the things I haven't completed in this game which I can definitely say is a lost despite me playing the Sims 3 for sooo long.
The last kid/career is going to continue on the next Generation and have however many kids I need for the next Generation. So for example, Writer is the last career I have in my lineup for Generation 1 and the next Generation is focused on World Adventures and only has two focuses, Explorer and Photographer & Collector, so we really only need two kids. But rip whoever ends the second Generation...we need 8 kids for that.. :)
I also want to try playing rotationally more rather than trying to stuff everybody into one house and drive myself insane with playing so many sims, it's not impossible for me but boy would it make me drop this challenge very fast. So when the time comes, especially for Generation 1, I'll be playing the different kids and their lives rotationally until I've done all their necessary goals.
I'll also be following the colors for each Generation because it's fun to do. Seeing as Pandora is currently a Vampire(I plan to turn her into a human and have her die of old age after her very last kid is born but she's got plenty of time), I don't want any of the kids to be Vampires unless necessary for the story I have planned for them and same thing goes for future Generations that won't always involve occults. It's also why I have a witch family also apart of this, I won't be playing them(unless necessary) they really just need to provide me kids and keep it going for all the Generations until the last one. They'll provide me the elixirs I'll need :).
Each specific career(or future kid) for each of the Generations has a set amount of kids that I thought would be reasonable for them to have, though the ones continuing the next Generation don't count because I'll need a specific amount. For example since Artist and Athlete will be the first two kids produced, Artist is only having 1 kid in their lifetime and Athlete is having 2-4 because that is just what makes sense to me and the story I'm envisioning, but I'm also playing wants based so if the heir and their spouse both want more kids then they'll have more kids.
I'm also doing the bonuses that most of the Generations have and doing them according to when it'll fit instead of trying to do them all at once! Aging will be adjusted accordingly if I feel like I'm running out of time with an heir
If you read the whole thing congratulations, I hope it made sense(feel free to ask me questions). I have two spreadsheets one with all the points sorted and the other that's keeping track of the family and all their necessary info - when it's time I'll make a family tree on Family Echo.(god rest my soul with this family tree let alone all the saves I'll be producing)

Nouk Lolita hair + Alpha edits in Afterglow
When I did this mesh in Pooklet textures, I only did the original alpha, but there's a few alphas and variations out there, so I did a few more this time!

The original alpha + Zesta02's 'Zoen' alpha + Zesta02's short alpha (slightly edited the side bangs to be shorter for more variety). All have one binned natural family in one package, plus 8 unbinned afterglow customs. Then there's a couple of families of binned streaked customs: for the original alpha, I pinched @spell-bloom's idea of doing coloured side bangs modeled on @horusmenhosetix's Ava Cadavra retexture, but added more colours to make it a family (black x lavender, brown x dark red (pictured), blond x mint, red x pink). Then I borrowed @mrs-mquve-cc's streaked version, moved the scalp streaks to fit my texture, and made a family based on those (black x darkred (pictured), brown x mint, blond x teal, red x green). Fully compressorized, labelled, mesh is included in the zips.

My last gift is this set of stunning makeup items that shine and shimmer. First, we have a bunch of eyeshadows - technically three sets, because I actually made a version two of the Soft Glam ones since I wanted to have a brighter option. Next, a highlighter. I think that the TS4 original reflects light, but I don't know if any of that stuff is possible in TS2, so it might be a little more tame but I still love the way it looks. And lastly, a couple of lipgloss swatches that I just couldn't resist.
Everything is tooltipped, compressed and comes with thumbnails. No specific file names this time because I love myself too much. You can use the swatch images below to navigate through the colors, I didn't put numbers on them this time but they all represent the files the way they are in the folders, left to right. Hope you enjoy and have a great year you guys!

Back when I first started playing ts3 I mainly played with my own sims in custom worlds, and didn't pay attention to the premades much, or play in the EA worlds or use EA homes. But now I'm really interested in the lore of the game and want to explore all the things I've missed out on in the eps! and I especially missed out on classic Sunset Valley and it's iconic townies!!! 😭
So what better way to remedy that than to start a lepacy? I'll also be following hix completionist challenge objectives by @horusmenhosetix too for more fun!

Installation instructions: download the .sim file. Browse to your Sims 3 folder and locate the folder called "SavedSims". Put the .sim file in there and voila! Your new sim will be under the saved sims menu in Create-A-Sim.

I specifically really really loved the acne mod, it's a feature that I'd always wanted in sims 3, I used to roll the chance it would occur and manually place it on my sims before your mod came along, so it really revolutionised the way that I play in such a good way! haha
@thesweetsimmer111 - you have created some of my favourite mods for sims 3, I'm so grateful for the work that you do and I use all of them in my game!! I specifically love how fluid the animations are and how they all feel like a really natural addition to the base game <3
@horusmenhosetix - there's not many cc creators like you making maxis-match content for sims 3 anymore, and I use so much of your cc in my game because I LOVE the way it looks! I really appreciate the work that you do for the community!! thank you for your hard work and your beautiful creations <3
@nectar-cellar - thank you for your beautiful cc and tutorials, i've learned so much from your tutorials on how to take good looking screenshots and set up amazing looking lighting, I also love the way that you create sims! @faeriefrolic - your sims are SO cute omg, i'm loving reading the jam legacy and the way that you create so much drama with your sims, it's something I'm trying to incorporate more of in my gameplay because I feel like I stray away from having any conflict, but I love how there's deaths, romance and so many emotions flying around in your gameplay! It makes it feel so much more real, dynamic and entertaining to read! <3
